‘Deadliest Catch’ Captain Dies


Harris suffered a massive stroke on Jan. 29, his family says

ANCHORAGE, Alaska
- A spokesman for The Discovery Channel says the captain of the "Deadliest Catch" fishing vessel Cornelia Marie has died.

Capt. Phil Harris suffered what his family described as a massive stroke on Jan. 29 while the boat was in port at St. Paul Island, Alaska. He was flown to Anchorage for surgery.

A Discovery spokesman says the Harris family contacted the network Tuesday evening with word of his death.

This is so sad. I really enjoyed watching him on the show. He went out fighting that's for sure. Thoughts and prayers with his family.

Whata shame. Not that he was the poster child for good health... but these guys need to stay awake so long on the water. Very sad.

Isn't that the same guy that a couple seasons back he was coughing up blood and stayed out on the water as long as he could? He was always so concerned about everyone and everything I can see why his life was ended early, anxiety and stress are killers for sure. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends and his viewers will surely miss him as well.
