Governor Larry Hogan Announces $4.4 Billion Education Lockbox Proposal

Legislation Dedicates Additional $3.4 Billion to K-12 Education, $1 Billion to School Construction Over Next Decade

ANNAPOLIS, MD –
Governor Larry Hogan today announced legislation to create a “lockbox” for education funding to ensure that all revenues from Maryland casinos go directly to funding K-12 education and improvements to the state’s public school facilities. The governor was joined by Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot, a longtime advocate for reforming the funding system set up by flawed legislation passed in 2007.

“Ensuring that this money is required to be used the way voters were promised it would be is long overdue; this is a bipartisan issue that a majority of Marylanders agree with,” said Governor Hogan. “The additional revenue that was promised for the classrooms should be required to go into the classrooms, and the people of Maryland and our children should not have to wait for another election in order to fix this important issue.”

Maryland voters approved slot machine gambling in 2008 based on a pledge from the legislature and previous administration that the new revenues generated would supplement existing funding. However, the legislation that was enacted allowed for the new revenues to simply supplant existing funding.

The governor’s Commitment to Education Act of 2018 will increase education spending by more than $4.4 billion over the next decade by phasing in casino revenues from the Education Trust Fund over the next four years. The legislation also dedicates the first 20 percent of these revenues to school construction starting immediately, which will add an additional $1 billion over the decade.

Comptroller Franchot, who has been warning Marylanders of the problems with the existing legislation for over a decade, affirmed his support for the governor’s bill.

“Students, teachers and families have waited long enough for state government to finally deliver on its promise. This session, I hope that both sides of the aisle can set partisanship aside, and come together to do the right thing, by passing this bill and sending it to the governor’s desk,” said the comptroller.

PRESIDENTIAL SMOKE SIGNALS: Fauxcahontas Makes Surprise Appearance At Native American Conference, Plays Victim

On Wednesday, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) sent some presidential smoke signals with a surprise appearance at the National Congress of American Indians. There, she attempted to rebut the accusations that she fabricated Native American heritage for personal gain — she still claims she has Cherokee ancestry, without a shred of evidence to support the contention, and she likely used that fake ancestry to win a post at Harvard Law School. In the past, she’s defended her supposed ancestry by pointing to her “high cheekbones” and her recipe submission in Pow Wow Chow. Yes, really.

As usual.

This time, she suggested that President Trump’s playful label, “Pocahontas” — which is actually a botched version of the original joke about Warren, Fauxcahontas — was racism. Not just that: her mission would be to tell the Native American story every time she’s questioned about her heritage. Which amounts to using Native Americans as a political human shield to avoid explaining why she appropriated Native American heritage for personal and political benefit.

Warren stated:

[My] mother’s family was part Native American. And my daddy’s parents were bitterly opposed to their relationship. So, in 1932, when Mother was 19 and Daddy had just turned 20, they eloped. …The story they lived will always be a part of me. And no one – not even the president of the United States – will ever take that part of me away.

Adam Schiff Admits Democratic Memo Contains "Sources And Methods"

Remember just two weeks ago when, in a desperate attempt to stall or dismiss the release of Devin Nunes memo, Democratic Rep Adam Schiff scaremongered the fact that "we have crossed a deeply regrettable line" warning that he believed The GOP memo could reveal "sources and methods" and create the atmosphere for another domestic terrorism incident...

Well, it turns out that a) the GOP memo did not expose any "sources and methods"; and b) the Democrat rebuttal did!

As The Daily Caller's Richard Pollock reports, White House problems with the Democrats’ “rebuttal memo” on the surveillance of Trump associates are genuine and the document could disclose “sources and methods,” California Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence confirmed.

“We need to go through that and identify that which remains classified and would implicate sources and methods or investigative interests,” he said at a newsmaker’s breakfast meeting on Wednesday sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.

His comments constituted a direct rebuke to his party’s top boss in the House of Representatives, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Obama’s CIA chief accused of lying about anti-Trump ‘dossier’

Nunes probing possible perjury by John Brennan

Under oath before the House Intelligence Committee last May, former CIA director John Brennan testified that the infamous anti-Trump “dossier” funded by the Democratic Party played no role in the intelligence community’s publicly released conclusion that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.

Brennan further declared he did not know who commissioned the opposition-research document, even though senior national security and counter-intelligence officials at the Justice Department and FBI knew the previous year it was funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

Now, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., is investigating whether or not Brennan committed perjury, reports Paul Sperry at RealClear Investigations.

Nunes released a memo Feb. 2 summarizing former deputy director Andrew McCabe’s testimony that the unverified dossier was essential to obtaining warrants in October 2016 to spy on a Trump campaign official. Nunes further found that in four separate applications for a warrant, FBI and Justice officials hid the fact that it was funded by the Democratic Party.

Schools Consider Banning ‘Best Friends’

NEW YORK — Growing up, your best friend is the person who is always there for you and the one you share all your secrets and exploits with.

But now there’s a growing movement to ban best friends.

The movement isn’t a ban on friendship, it’s just geared towards having children broaden their friendship circles and become more inclusive.

It’s a move a lot of educators think goes in the right direction.

Rumored to have first started in Prince George’s South London school, this push to breakup best friends is catching on, says clinical psychologist Dr. Barbara Greenberg.

“There has been a movement in some American schools and European schools to ban the phrase ‘best friend,'” Greenberg said. “The idea of banning the phrase ‘best friends’ is a very intriguing social experiment.”

And while it may be raising some eyebrows Greenberg who works with children and adolescents says there’s some good rationale behind it.

Is John Brennan The Mastermind Behind Russiagate?

The report (“The Dossier”) that claims that Donald Trump colluded with Russia, was paid for by the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign.

The company that claims that Russia hacked DNC computer servers, was paid by the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign.

The FBI’s counterintelligence probe into Trump’s alleged connections to Russia was launched on the basis of information gathered from a report that was paid for by the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign.

The surveillance of a Trump campaign member (Carter Page) was approved by a FISA court on the basis of information from a report that was paid for by the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign.

The Intelligence Community Analysis or ICA was (largely or partially) based on information from a report that was paid for by the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign. (more on this below)

The information that was leaked to the media alleging Russia hacking or collusion can be traced back to claims that were made in a report that was paid for by the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign.

The entire Russia-gate investigation rests on the “unverified and salacious” information from a dossier that was paid for by the DNC and Hillary Clinton Campaign. Here’s how Stephen Cohen sums it up in a recent article at The Nation:

“Steele’s dossier… was the foundational document of the Russiagate narrative…from the time its installments began to be leaked to the American media in the summer of 2016, to the US “Intelligence Community Assessment” of January 2017….the dossier and subsequent ICA report remain the underlying sources for proponents of the Russiagate narrative of “Trump-Putin collision.” (“Russia gate or Intel-gate?”, The Nation)

House passes bill that would allow high-interest loans

The House of Representatives passed bipartisan legislation Wednesday that would ensure that non-bank financial firms are allowed to charge high interest rates on certain loans, a measure that supporters said was necessary to support the firms and provide credit to low-income borrowers.

Critics described the bill as a way to allow companies to skirt state laws and charge usurious rates, freeing the hands of payday lenders and others.

The bill, the Protecting Consumers' Access to Credit Act of 2017, passed 245-171. The bill was written by House Financial Services Committee member Patrick McHenry, a North Carolina Republican, and co-sponsored by two Democrats: Gregory Meeks of New York and Gwen Moore of Wisconsin.

McHenry said his bill's "passage marks an important step towards modernizing our financial system and ensuring financial inclusion for all Americans."

James Comey gets sneaky again

James Comey is proving himself to be a real sneak.

According to information in the Grassley-Graham memo, the former FBI director had a meeting with the White House on Jan. 5 about supposed Russian collusion in the 2016 election and then failed to disclose it to Congress, when he was asked about it in testimony. It turns out that the Obama inner circle, including Susan Rice, Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, Comey, and President Obama were all pow-wowing together in the White House, and Susan Rice, who questioned whether incoming President Trump should be told at all about the Russian collusion investigation, wrote a memo to herself describing the encounter.

The fact that Comey showed up comes in direct contradiction with Comey's sworn testimony to Congress, claiming he never met President Obama except on two unimportant occasions, the Daily Caller notes:

By failing to inform the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence about the meeting in his June 8, 2017, testimony, Comey may have deliberately and intentionally misled Congress about his interactions with the former president, especially a meeting so close to Trump entering the White House.

Troopers Arrest Three Suspects for Multiple Weapons Charges

Seaford - The Delaware State Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of multiple firearms and a third suspect for receiving a stolen firearm.

The incident was reported on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at approximately 11:37 a.m. when a 29-year-old victim from Seaford reported that six firearms and Dewalt power tools were taken from his residence while he was out of town. Further investigation revealed that the victim allowed 24-year-old Marissa Schurman of Milford to stay at his residence for approximately 2 weeks while he was away from his residence. During this timeframe, Marissa allowed her boyfriend, 26-year-old Roland C. Wainwright of Frederica to also stay at the residence. Through investigative measures, it was discovered that Wainwright had pawned four of the firearms as well as the tools that belonged to the victim.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, Schurman and Wainwright responded to Troop 3 where both were subsequently taken into custody without incident. Further investigation revealed that one of the firearms, a colt .38 revolver had been sold to subject identified as 19-year-old Marc Johnson of Milford.

Through a coordinated effort between Tr00p 5, Tr00p 3, members of the Kent County Drug Unit (KDU), and the Milford Police Department, the firearm was recovered and Marc Johnson was apprehended without incident.

Schurman was charged with 6 counts of Theft of a Firearm. She was arraigned out of the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $18,000.00 unsecured bond.

Wainwright was charged with 6 counts of Theft of a Firearm, 6 counts of Theft, 5 counts of Falsifying Business Records, and 5 counts of Selling Stolen Property. Hungary submits anti-immigration 'Stop Soros' bill to parliament

Hungary's nationalist government introduced legislation that would empower the interior minister to ban non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that support migration and pose a "national security risk".

The bill, submitted to parliament late on Tuesday, is a key part of Prime Minister Viktor Orban's anti-immigration campaign targeting U.S. financier George Soros whose philanthropy aims to bolster liberal and open-border values in eastern Europe.

The government says the bill, which would also impose a 25 percent tax on foreign donations to NGOs that back migration in Hungary, is meant to deter illegal immigration Orban says is eroding European stability and has been stoked in part by Soros.

Hungary and Poland are both under nationalist governments that have clashed with the European Union leadership in Brussels over their perceived authoritarian drift deviating from EU standards on democracy and rule of law.

But Orban's message, championing conservative Christian beliefs and rejecting multiculturalism, has gone down well with Hungarian voters and his Fidesz party is expected to secure a third straight term in a general election due on April 8.

Breaking News: In another immigration vote, senators turned back President Trump's plan, rebuking him and leaving no clear path for the so-called Dreamers

The measure by Senator Charles E. Grassley, Republican of Iowa, was patterned after one that the White House proposed, but the 39-60 vote was 21 votes short of the 60 votes required for the Senate to consider it. Mr. Trump had threatened to veto any other approach.

Unsafe Drinking Water Found Across U.S.

Flint, Mich., isn't the only American city where the water hasn't been safe to drink, new research suggests.

Almost 8 percent of community water systems are plagued by health-based violations of water quality standards in any given year, the study found. That meant up to a quarter of all Americans were affected.

"Generally, the U.S. has high-quality water," said study author Maura Allaire. "But health-related violations do extend well beyond Flint. When I dug into the data, I saw about 21 million people were receiving water from systems that didn't meet standards in 2015.

"In terms of hot spots in the country, rural communities and rural low-income communities in Oklahoma and Texas are really struggling," said Allaire, an assistant professor of urban planning and public policy at the University of California, Irvine.

"They lack the technical capacity of larger systems, and have small customer bases, which means they can't afford the latest and greatest technologies. And they often have only a part-time technician monitoring their water systems," she explained.

Intel Chiefs Sound Alarm on China Threat

U.S. intelligence leaders warned Congress Tuesday that China poses a major security threat by stealing and buying sensitive American technology.

Chinese companies linked to the Beijing government are using a variety of methods, including cyber attacks and acquisitions of American companies to gain access to cutting edge know-how, Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Daniel Coats said during an annual threat briefing for the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Coats said countering covert Chinese technology acquisition remains a top priority of intelligence agencies and addressing the problem will require greater efforts than in the past.

He also supports congressional legislation now pending in both the Senate and House that would strengthen the Treasury Department-led Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) that reviews foreign acquisitions of American firms with an eye to the national security risks.

"The Chinese are pervasive on this," Coats said, "and we've seen it happen throughout both the public and the private sector."

In his prepared statement to the committee, Coats singled out China for covert and overt efforts to obtain "proprietary technology and early-stage ideas through cyber enabled means."

Other methods include the use of semi-legitimate, legal transfers and relationships "to gain access to research fields, experts, and key enabling industrial processes that could, over time, erode America’s long-term competitive advantages," the statement said.

Six U.S. intelligence agencies warn against using Huawei phones

Six intelligence officials, including the heads of the CIA, FBI, and NSA, have told the Senate Intelligence Committee that they would not recommend that U.S. citizens use smartphones from the Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE, reports CNBC. As FBI director Chris Wray told the committee:

“We’re deeply concerned about the risks of allowing any company or entity that is beholden to foreign governments that don’t share our values to gain positions of power inside our telecommunications networks. That provides the capacity to exert pressure or control over our telecommunications infrastructure. It provides the capacity to maliciously modify or steal information. And it provides the capacity to conduct undetected espionage.”

In response to the intelligence officials warnings, a spokesperson for Huawei said:

Caroline Glick: Israel’s ‘Deep State’ Targets Netanyahu with Bogus Charges

The Israeli police investigation against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shows remarkable similarities with the Special Counsel probe against President Donald Trump in the United States.

During the prime time news broadcasts Tuesday evening in Israel, the dramatic news was announced that Israel Police investigators are recommending that Israel’s Attorney General, Avichai Mandelblit, indict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on bribery and breach of trust charges in two investigations.

The news raises a number of obvious questions about Netanyahu’s political future. But it also raises an equal, if not greater, number of questions about the purity of the police service’s intentions and its trustworthiness.

Let us begin by considering the specific cases that form the basis of police recommendations against Netanyahu..

Ryan Blames John McCain for Tanking Obamacare Repeal

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) blamed Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Fox Business on Tuesday for tanking Obamacare repeal.

Ryan told Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo, “Republicans passed the biggest entitlement reform package ever when we passed our healthcare bill. Unfortunately, somebody did this instead of that in the Senate, and it didn’t pass.”

“We have to get our other partners in government to be willing to do the kind of entitlement reform that we’re willing to do in the House,” Ryan added.

House Republicans passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA) in 2017; however, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell failed to pass an Obamacare repeal package when Sen. McCain infamously voted against the “skinny” Obamacare repeal bill. Sen. McCain also opposed the Graham-Cassidy Obamacare block grant repeal proposal after the legislation nearly achieved a majority of support from Senate Republicans.

Race and IQ: A High School Science Fair Project Ignites a Storm

We don’t know the student’s name, but we do know that he hit a nerve — in fact, he hit a whole bunch of them. Identified only as a boy of Asian descent at C.K. McClatchy High School in California, the teen’s recent science-fair project, “Race and IQ,” propounded the thesis that differences in groups’ average intelligence influence their academic performance. He couldn’t win, though, because his project was removed after parents, staff and other students became “upset” and one girl said she felt “unsafe and uneasy.” The irony?

A project on evolution would no doubt have been well received — even though an assumption of racial differences is implicit in evolutionary theory.

In fact, The Sacramento Bee, which hasn’t yet evolved out of the progressive primordial soup, mentioned that the student’s thesis is associated with eugenics (which the Bee casts negatively), the science of improving the human race via selective breeding. The paper is likely unaware, however, that the term “eugenics” itself was coined by Sir Francis Galton — a cousin of famed evolutionist Charles Darwin — and that Galton made clear that in his eugenicist endeavors, he was merely building on his cousin’s work.

FBI Director: Chinese spies are infiltrating US colleges

Chinese spies are infiltrating US universities as part of the country's bid to become the dominant global superpower and undermine America's military, economic and cultural power, FBI Director Chris Wray has warned.

Wray's comments came during the Senate intelligence committee's annual open hearing on the greatest threats to the country.

The hearing was told China is trying to gain access to sensitive U.S. technologies and intellectual properties through telecommunications companies, academia and joint business ventures.

The last decade has seen a huge increase in the number of young Chinese seeking a college education in the West; 329,000 now study in the United States, more than five times the number recorded in 2007.

Man, 24, jailed for firebombing Virginia apartment

A Virginia man who firebombed an apartment building over a stolen iPhone has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Josepha Kasai, 24, smashed a Molotov cocktail at the door of a third floor apartment unit in Alexandria, setting fire to the doorway and trapping nine individuals on the building's third floor in June 2016.

Molotov cocktails are incendiary devices that consist of a bottle filled with flammable liquid and with a means of ignition.

Court documents show Kasai then went outside and threw another Molotov cocktail at the third floor apartment unit, which broke through the bedroom window.

The entire building was evacuated due to the fire.

Nervous? Deafening Silence From Crooked Comey After Bizarre Susan Rice Email Raises New Questions About His Testimony

Crooked cop Comey may be a little nervous these days because he hasn’t said a peep on his social media in over a week.

James Comey recently became fairly active on Twitter and Instagram yet deafening silence from the fired FBI Director since Susan Rice’s bizarre email surfaced which raises new questions about Comey’s testimony.

On Monday, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley uncovered an unusual email former NatSec Advisor to Barack Obama, Susan Rice sent herself on January 20th 2017–Donald Trump’s inauguration day.

It was revealed Susan Rice secretly met with Barack Obama, Sally Yates and James Comey in the Oval Office on January 5th, 2017.

Chuck Grassley posted to his official Senate website Monday:

Ambassador Rice appears to have used this email to document a January 5, 2017 Oval Office meeting between President Obama, former FBI Director James Comey and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates regarding Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election. In particular, Ambassador Rice wrote:

“President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities ‘by the book’. The President stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective. He reiterated that our law enforcement team needs to proceed as it normally would by the book.”

Hillary Clinton Advisor: New World Order Will Survive Trump

Assures globalists Trump won’t stop their full-spectrum dominance plan in CFR mag

The globalist New World Order model will survive President Trump, according to Hillary Clinton advisor Jake Sullivan.

“There is no doubt that Trump represents a meaningful threat to the health of both American democracy and the international system,” Sullivan wrote in next month’s issue of Foreign Affairs, a Council on Foreign Relations-backed publication.

“Yet despite these risks, rumors of the international order’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. The system is built to last through significant shifts in global politics and economics and strong enough to survive a term of President Trump.”

Expert: Sweden Has Become a ‘Base’ for International Radical Islamic Extremist Networks

Swedish researcher Peder Hyllengren of the Swedish Defence College has claimed that Sweden has become a hub of international Islamic extremism and that hundreds of Swedish residents have built up a vast network of jihadi contacts.

Hyllengren claimed that jihadi networks have been allowed to operate in Sweden for at least a decade and that Swedish lawmakers have been lagging on proper legislation to deal with the problem, Swedish broadcaster SVT reports.

According to the researcher, Swedish residents have been in contact with Islamic terrorists like Mohamed Belkaid who was shot during a raid in Brussels by police who were searching for terrorist Salah Abdeslam who had participated in the 2015 Paris Bataclan massacre.

Hyllengren blamed the political correctness of the Swedish establishment for the inaction in fighting Islamic radicalism along with “the activism that existed against both the security services and those who tried to lift the seriousness of these issues. This meant that the threshold became higher for both politicians and others to enter this area.”

FBI: The whole of Chinese society is a threat to the US

FBI Director Christopher Wray issued a dire warning about China's growing influence during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Tuesday. He said there were a variety of ways China was implementing a plan to replace the US as the foremost global power, including by infiltrating academia.

Recent reports have suggested that while China's on-campus 'Confucius Institutes' are ostensibly language-learning centers, they often serve as vehicles for Chinese propaganda at universities around the world, including the US.

Intelligence experts have also cited Chinese cybersecurity threats as a major concern in 2018.

Wray on Tuesday reiterated a commonly held view among US intelligence officials that China is seeking to become a global superpower through unconventional means — but he framed it as both a governmental and a societal threat to the US.

Wray pointed to China's use of unconventional intelligence sources as an example of its reach.

He said "collectors" — what the intelligence community calls people who collect intelligence on behalf of agencies or governments — had infiltrated US universities.

"I think in this setting, I would just say that the use of non-traditional collectors — especially in the academic setting, whether it's professors, scientists, students — we see in almost every field office that the FBI has around the country," Wray said.

"They're exploiting the very open research-and-development environment that we have, which we all revere, but they're taking advantage of it," Wray said, adding that there is a "naiveté" among academics about the risks posed by foreign nationals at US universities.

Watchdog's Report Faults VA Chief Over Europe Trip Expenses

An internal watchdog's investigation has found that Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin improperly accepted Wimbledon tennis tickets and likely wrongly used taxpayer money to cover his wife's airfare for an 11-day European trip.

The report also questions Shulkin's decision to direct agency staff on official time to arrange his personal sightseeing activities during the July trip to England and Denmark.

Shulkin's lawyers say he did nothing improper.

Dem congressional candidate busted trying to hawk stolen ring

A congressional candidate from Wisconsin was busted by the NYPD in her home state when she tried to hawk a ring she ripped off from a Manhattan jewelry store, police said.

Juliet Germanotta — who in campaign literature vowed to keep the state “fiscally responsible by questioning expenses ” — ordered a $4,800 ring from Mikaelians Jewelry on West 47th Street in Midtown on September 19.

But Germanotta, 36, who describes herself as a “proud transgender woman,” claimed the ring she received was not to her liking, and requested her money back, police said.

Instead of sending the real ring back, she sent the store a bogus bauble — and attempted to sell the original.

Lawmakers Turn to GROW to Avoid Pension Crisis

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is hoping to head off a looming union pension crisis by expanding options for retirement benefits.

On Tuesday evening, Reps. Phil Roe (R., Tenn.) and Donald Norcross (D., N.J.) introduced the Give Retirement Options to Workers (GROW) Act, which would allow multi-employer pensions to transition from traditional defined benefit plans—in which fixed payments are delivered to retirees—to a hybrid that combines existing plans with 401(k)-style defined contribution plans, in which workers and employers contribute money to investment accounts. Roe said the reform is needed to preserve pension systems for future generations of workers.

"In a time of financial uncertainty, it is crucial that we give workers more flexible and sustainable options for creating stable retirement security," he said in a statement. "The GROW Act offers a fiscally responsible way forward, and this structure will enable pensions to maintain fiscal solvency in the future."

Parkland Florida school shooting ‘leaves at least 17 dead'

The teen gunman who shot dead 17 people at a Florida high school is believed to have set off the fire alarms to draw people out into the halls before he opened fire - and then managed to evade police by pretending to be one of the terrified students running for cover.

Nikolas Cruz, 19, stormed Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland on Wednesday afternoon armed with an assault rifle. He was taken into custody off the school campus about an hour after the shooting broke out.

Broward Sheriff Scott Israel said Cruz was a former student at the school but had been expelled for unknown 'disciplinary reasons' last year.

Cruz was armed with at least one AR-15 rifle, had 'multiple magazines' and smoke grenades when he stormed the school wearing a gas mask and killed 17 students and staff. The first of the 17 victims have now been identified as 46-year-old athletic director Chris Hixon and student Jaime Guttenburg. According to Local 10 News, her parents Fred and Jennifer Guttenberg said she died in the shooting, while their son, Jesse, made it home.

Investigators are now looking into whether Cruz may have pulled the fire alarm to draw people into halls so he could get a higher death toll.

No Dangerous Asbestos Found After Mall Demo Complaint

OCEAN CITY — The major demolition of the Ocean Plaza Mall at 94th Street continued this week despite a formal complaint filed about possible asbestos contamination.

Last week, a private contractor began demolishing the long dormant Ocean Plaza Mall at 94th Street. The anchor stores including the existing Rose’s department store and Acme grocery store will remain in place, as will existing businesses on the outparcels on the site, but the rest of the L-shaped indoor mall portion is being torn down.

Just a few days into the process, the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) received a complaint about possible asbestos contamination caused by the demolition. The MDE investigated the complaint this week and determined while there are likely asbestos-containing materials in the old mall building, it was not the variety considered dangerous to public health.

“We received a complaint about asbestos possibly being at the site,” said MDE Deputy Communications Director Jay Apperson on Wednesday. “We investigated this and it is our understanding that the asbestos is non-friable and is not being made friable by the demolition.”

Expert Confirms Flu Shot Behind Deadly Epidemic That's Killed Thousands

Influenza epidemic caused by vaccines itself according to health officials

As thousands continue to die from the deadly flu outbreak, health officials have now come forward to confirm that the influenza epidemic was actually caused by the vaccine itself.

According to CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), this year's dominant strain is H3N2, which is far more severe than other previous strains, leading to more extreme, and often fatal, symptoms.

According to Anna Treague, a health official for Public Health, the severity of H3N2 has been caused by mutations in the virus that are triggered by influenza vaccinations.

In a statement to ABC news, Treague confirmed that this year's flu strain, that has left thousands of citizens dead, was caused by the vaccines itself, saying:

"I believe that the low effective rate of the vaccine this year is due to the mutations that the virus made in the processing of the vaccine itself.

"That is at LEAST part of the reason that influenza cases are so widespread this year."

Declassified: Comey Had Secret Russia Meeting With Obama Amid "Unmaskings"

An odd email sent moments after the inauguration by former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, apparently to herself, describes a January 5, 2017 meeting between members of the U.S. intelligence community and President Obama, while Rice and the Obama were knee deep in "unmasking" the Trump team.

We also know from recently released text messages between anti-Trump FBI agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page that "potus wants to know everything we're doing."

In her email, Rice very deliberately notes that President Obama "stressed his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities "by the book". and that Obama "stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective."

Rice's "CYA" email to herself is so bizarre in light of the fact that we now know the Trump-Russia investigation was anything but "by the book," that Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) fired off a letter asking her just what in tarnation she knows.

Florida School Shooting

A Viewer Writes: ESVA Chicken CAFO's

Joe,

You may want to do more coverage of the Accomac CAFO well story. Citizens are hopping mad. If you look at the zoning changes that were forced down the throats of Accomac residents and this disastrous zoning that Northampton was able to roll back...and now the lack of permits for ALL of these gigantic operations it's quite questionable. Citizens are banding together to take out a full page ad to put neighbors on notice that these wells aren't permitted. You know how this usually works out. The government will say oops...what can we do now...the damage is already done...then the local sole source aquifer will be depleted. Neighbors property values will be compromised. The most recent report of the volume loss from the aquifer (discharging much faster than recharging) even before any of these wells were drilled. Sooner or later I suspect this will make the national news.

Susan Rice tries posterior-covering, pokes a hornet's nest instead

When the true story of the Obama administration – the constitutional crimes, the weaponizing of the IRS and the intelligence community, and the help given to Iran’s fanatical dictatorship – isfinally told, Susan Rice will be seen as a tragi-comic figure. She’s willing to lie in public, most notoriously on five Sunday morning shows claiming the Benghazi assault was based on a YouTube video seen by a handful of people worldwide, even when those lies are easily exposed.

The truth is that Rice is a henchwoman. She’ll do whatever is asked of her in support of those who elevated her to power. But because she’s not that bright, she causes problems worse than the original ones she’s trying to fix.

That is the only explanation I can see for the extraordinarily “curious” email she sent to herself in the very last minutes of the Obama administration on Inauguration Day. That email has drawn the attention of Senator Chuck Grassley, and now Rice has a big problem (as in needing expensive lawyers) on her hands.

Tyler O’Neil summarizes the situation at PJ Media:

FBI-gate: The Outlines of the Story Are Coming into Focus

Thanks to the work of smart and hardworking (non-mainstream) journalists, we can peek just a bit over the horizon and see where the story of the weaponization of the FBI via a senior-level cabal is going from here. I use the word "story" deliberately, because that is the way public opinion forms itself on major political affairs. The progressives in the media and politics have long understood this. The cast of the story is now set, and some dramatic plot points have been identified. The ending hasn't been written yet, of course, but the villains are identifying themselves or being exposed, and some of the heroes are emerging. We are on the cusp of a drama much bigger than Watergate breaking open, and its story elements are compelling.

In the calm before the storm breaks, the mainstream media and the Democrat attack squad from the House Intel committee [i] are in the midst of utterly discrediting themselves. Once the story breaks into the open, indictments will be handed down, and the witnesses, hostile and cooperating, will be heard in hearings and in court. They have worked together to cover up and distract from the story, but the truth will out, and now it is becoming clear how that will happen.

The fake controversy over the ten-page Schiff memo is keeping the morale of the #resistance crowd up, but Schiff himself will go down in history as the guy who kicked sand in the eyes of the investigators. All that media effort in pushing the phony narrative of Russia collusion will make them into dupes and laughingstocks, once the solid evidence is brought to light that a conspiracy to push that phony narrative was run with key members of the Clinton machine working hand in glove with the cabal.

Wells Fargo Sends 38,000 Apology Letters In Error

Wells Fargo accidentally sent apology letters to 38,000 people in error after the bank was caught foisting auto insurance on more than 800,000 customers who only wanted to take out auto loans.

Tacking insurance onto the loans were part of the bank's "cross-selling" practice of offering products across different segments - which also included opening millions of credit card and bank accounts for people who never asked for them.

It gets better: the expense of the unneeded auto insurance (which covered collision damage) pushed some 274,000 Wells Fargo customers into delinquency and resulted in almost 25,000 wrongful vehicle repossessions. And the cherry on top: "among the Wells Fargo customers hurt by the practice were military service members on active duty."

Christopher Wray shades the media: 'We actually have more than two investigations'

FBI Director Christopher Wray chided the media Tuesday for covering only two of the agency’s ongoing high-profile investigations.

“Although you would never know it from watching the news, we actually have more than two investigations,” Wray said before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Wray was referring to the FBI’s ongoing probes into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server and Russian influence in the 2016 presidential election.

Wray was answering a question from Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, who asked him to respond to allegations of political bias atop the FBI from President Trump.

"Every day — many, many, many times a day — I'm confronted with unbelievable examples of integrity and professionalism and grit," Wray said. “There's 37,000 people in the FBI who do unbelievable things all around the world."

ANC orders Zuma to step down as South African president

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa’s ruling party ordered Jacob Zuma on Tuesday to step down as head of state but gave him no firm deadline to go, setting the stage for a potential fight to wrest him from power.

Leading members of the African National Congress now want new party leader Cyril Ramaphosa to replace Zuma, ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule told a news conference. That appeared to herald the end of the road for a leader whose near decade in power divided Nelson Mandela’s post-apartheid ‘Rainbow Nation’.

Magashule said the party’s national executive was split on precisely when Zuma should step down. Zuma had promised to respond to the order by Wednesday, Magashule said.

The rand currency weakened, with traders blaming uncertainty caused by the lack of a clear timetable.

Tourniquet Is the Most Important Thing Your First Aid Kit Needs

Tourniquets are tight bands used to control bleeding by completely stopping the blood flow to a wound. Tourniquets work only on arm and leg injuries; you can't exactly wrap a tight band around a patient's neck and cinch it down to stop the flow of blood.

Traditionally, tourniquets were reserved for the worst bleeding to keep the patient from developing shock.

The use of tourniquets was first documented on the battlefield in 1674. Complications of tourniquet use were said to lead to severe tissue damage. Soldiers had amputations of limbs that were often attributed to the use of tourniquets but could have just as easily been from infection. Eventually, tourniquets developed a bad rap in the field of emergency first aid.

Applying a tourniquet in the civilian world used to be seen as a last resort. It was thought that they made sense for soldiers because combat wounds are severe and a fighter needs to fight. A tourniquet can be applied and ignored.

That doesn't mean tourniquets don't work. On the contrary, tourniquets can arrest bleeding quite well and are certainly useful in cases of severe bleeding that cannot be stopped any other way. They're popular on the battlefield because they can be applied quickly and do not need to be constantly monitored once they are in place, allowing even injured soldiers to remain conscious and continue fighting.

Left Blasts Jeff Sessions for ‘Anglo-American’ Reference

Democrats and their left-wing allies blasted Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday for making reference to the “Anglo-American” legal tradition, which they construed as racist.

The problem: not only was the reference factually accurate, but it was the same reference that former President Barack Obama had made frequently throughout his career.

Sessions was speaking to a conference of the National Sheriffs’ Association. He said: “The office of sheriff is a critical part of the Anglo-American heritage of law enforcement.”

The media highlighted that remark, and the left pounced on it — as documented by Twitchy..

But as National Review Online editor Charles C. W. Cooke noted, Obama used the reference as well:

Yellowstone Supervolcano under 'STRAIN’ - experts find magma chamber pressure

YELLOWSTONE is “under strain” according to a group of seismologists who are monitoring the potentially catastrophic volcano, prompting fears an eruption is imminent.

A process known as deformation, where subsurface rocks subtly change shapes, is occurring beneath the surface of Yellowstone which alerts experts.

Researchers state deformation occurs when there is a change in the amount of pressure in the magma chamber and experts are keeping an eye on the development.

Seismologists from UNAVCO, a nonprofit university-governed consortium, are using “Global Positioning System, borehole tiltmeters, and borehole strainmeters” to measure minute changes in deformation at Yellowstone.

In an article for the Billings Gazette, David Mencin and Glen Mattioli, geodesists with UNAVCO, say “the strain signal is larger than would be expected if the crust under Yellowstone were completely solid”.

Smuggler busted hauling cocaine in fake butt

This drug smuggler was really bummed out.

A 32-year-old Brazilian man was arrested at the Lisbon Airport in Portugal after he was caught carrying a kilo of cocaine in a fake derrière, the International Business Times reported.

The butthead was traveling into the city from Belém do Pará in northern Brazil before he hit rock bottom, according to the news outlet.

A second man, age 40, also was busted on suspicion of being the intended recipient of the drug haul, the estimated street value of which was not released.

An image released by authorities showed how the drug was stored in the faux buttocks stitched into a pair of blue swim shorts.
