Jennifer Helps Present Trophy's & Prizes

Jennifer, (my Wife on the right) has been a part of SMKC for more years than I want to tell. She has donated her time in the Hospitality Suite for many years. The Judges just adore her, (as anyone would) and she truly enjoys volunteering and participating in one of the biggest events held each year at the Wicomico Civic Center. Cathy Williams, (Cathy's Pet Salon) also helps by volunteering in the Hospitality Suite.

It was a tough year this year for this Show as entries were down some 30%. This event is a huge money maker for the Salisbury Kennel Club and because the economy is so slow right now, the rent at the Civic Center stays the same, (actually increases) while Vendors stay closer to home and refuse to travel because of gas prices.

Fortunately many of you came to visit the Show and helped out with ticket sales, thank you. However, next year could challenge this Show quite a bit if the Civic Center, (Wicomico County) doesn't lower their rates.

Nevertheless, it's Volunteers that make the Show a stronger success and even though my Wife comes home exhausted and feet killing her each day of this event, she does it for a great cause.

All Dressed Up And No Place To Show

While things are wrapping up at the Dog Show this weekend, I couldn't help but put this picture up showing just how far these people go to protect their CHILDREN. Yes, many pet lovers call their pets their children. I'll bet you, (honest to God) this outfit probably cost this person more money than anything my parents ever spent on me when I was a child.

Do YOU call your pets children? I know several people that do. We don't. As a matter of fact, some of my pets have been known to come to me after I yell, "Son of a Bitch." LOL

Calling On ALL Young Republicans

This is an outrage and must come to a halt immediately! I have a warning to those who think this is funny. One day soon, one of you will get caught doing this and that one individual will get blamed for all of them. This is a hate crime, (in my opinion) and there are many victims. This photo was taken this morning in the Camden area. Yes, near the college. No one should be walking around with a spray paint can in their possession. If you hear the sound of the ball rattling from a spray can, keep your eyes open Folks. Let's nail this SOB and stop this behavior. I'd say more but I'd get into trouble.

Who Do YOU Think Will Get To $1.99 First?

Chicken Man is at $2.02 a gallon and Sam's Club is the same, as of this morning. This Gordy Tiger Mart had absolutely no one at the pumps when I drove past but their prices are always higher than most Stations around the Salisbury area.

So tell me, who do you think will break that $2.00 a gallon price first?

Two People That Don't Read Salisbury News

While these two people were attempting to enter Feldman's, even after reading the Condemned signs on the front windows, I handed them a business card so they could be more up to speed for local news and information. More satisfied customers. LOL

"Office of the President-Elect”

"Office of the President-Elect”??? Since when? Have you ever heard of this? www.change.gov is the official website of this new offfice.

Is it just me or does this seem to be beyond presumputious?

And did you check out the Great Seal?

According to 18 USC Sec. 713:

18 USC Sec. 713 …
(a) Whoever knowingly displays any printed or other likeness of the great seal of the United States, or of the seals of the President or the Vice President of the United States, or the seal of the United States Senate, or the seal of the United States House of Representatives, or the seal of the United States Congress, or any facsimile thereof, in, or in connection with, any advertisement, poster, circular, book, pamphlet, or other publication, public meeting, play, motion picture, telecast, or other production, or on any building, monument, or stationery, for the purpose of conveying, or in a manner reasonably calculated to convey, a false impression of sponsorship or approval by the Government of the United States or by any department, agency, or instrumentality thereof, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

I think he a little more than 'One Toe' over the line.

Don't Miss "Critter Christmas" At The Salisbury Zoo

The Salisbury Zoo will once again host "Critter Christmas" on December 10th from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. This is an enjoyable way to enjoy the Zoo at night and help raise money for the Zoo. Call 410-548-3188 for more information.

Mardela Fire Department Poker Tournament

Yesterday, the Mardela Fire Department hosted a Poker Tournament from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM with some 30 people putting up $150.00 each just to enter the Tournament. These men and women get together every other weekend and have a blast.

I don't know who won yesterdays event but I'm sure someone will chime in and let us know.

Monday's North Prong Meeting Update

"MONDAY at 7:35 at City Council Chambers there is a NORTH PRONG meeting being held...Surprise!

I am a business owner and the only reason I knew of this meeting was because of DEBBIE CAMPBELL and JIM IRETON stopping by and letting us know. They also could tell us that not one business on Lake or Mill St was aware of this meeting that they had talked with Friday afternoon.

Coincidentally however, about 25 minutes after they informed us of what was going on...someone called to let us know of the meeting.

It's really sad that the some of the City council and coherent's feel it necessary to keep such things a secret. This is how our city is being run.

Hats off to Debbie Campbell and Jim Ireton for keeping us in the know. Hope EVERYONE comes out to this meeting."

I Think It's Time To Bring This Structure Down

As this Barn was once a vision of pride and beauty, the property owner off Rt. 50 has allowed it to get to a point in which the County should step in and have them take it down before someone gets hurt. It seems evident to me that they have no interest in repairing it as I have been taking photos of it for years and it truly is on its last leg.

A Child's Intelligence

A stranger was seated next to a little girl on the airplane when the stranger turned to her and said, 'Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with a fellow passenger.'

The little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly
and asked the stranger, 'What would you like to talk about?'

'Oh, I don't know,' said the stranger. 'How about nuclear power?'
and he smiled.

'Okay,' she said. 'That could be an interesting topic. But let me
ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff...grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?'

The stranger, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thought about it and answered, 'Hmmm... I
have no idea.'

To which the little girl replied, 'Do you really feel qualified
to discuss nuclear power when you don't know sh-t?'

Make Shift Living In The SPD's Own Back Yard

Just around the corner from the Salisbury Police Department is an area for the Homeless.

Just across the street from the SPD is a condemned home that has been in this condition for a good 4 years and nothing has been done about it.

This is VERY unsafe for the kids in that neighborhood and certainly doesn't look good for the City. I mean, here the Mayor was trying to condemn Von Siggers home and others in her neighborhood, yet she allows this kind of crap to go on for years at a time.

Bubba Comegys has been made well aware of this property as well. Well, as long as it's not in their neighborhood, it's OK.

What do YOU think would happen to this property and the other situation if Jim Ireton was your Mayor?

Feldman"s Roof Is Falling In

While Code & Compliance closed down and condemned their building last week, here's a view they couldn't see. Notice the roof structure. FOB or not, their business is still closed. Has anyone heard of any article in the Daily Times about this building being condemned?

Royal Farms On Rt. 50 Coming Soon

This is the first time I've seen storage gas tanks above ground and maybe this is the way of the future. Nevertheless, Royal Farms is moving right along and should be opening in the very near future.

Salisbury Fire Department Graveyard

The old Training Station for the SFD on Isabella Street has become the staging area for wrecked or destroyed vehicles from the Fire Department.

Added to their pile of junk is the recent "Chase Vehicle" that was wrecked when a multitude of equipment was dispatched to WalMart for an alleged stabbing.

I don't care what the Chief, Assistant Chief or Deputy Chief says, this Fire Department is costing the Taxpayers a small fortune. They are reckless in how they drive these vehicles. I don't care if its because they can't drive or they mechanically tear these pieces of equipment up. If it was equipment that these guys had to work their a$$es off for raising money to purchase them, that would be one thing. However, everything, (for the most part) is purchased by the taxpayer and I've been told, many just don't care.

While accidents do happen, sending out so many pieces of equipment for a stabbing is just out of line. But I'm always wrong on that subject, right Firefighters?

The way Chief See & Deputry Chief Gordy look at it is, this Graveyard is worth a small fortune in scrap metal. Just ask Gordy's Son.

500 Riverside Drive On The Auction Block

"Here is an excerpt from The Daily Times article today.

"We've asked for meeting after meeting with the bank, but they won't meet with us," he said last week. "The mayor even wrote them a letter saying how good the project was for Salisbury; they didn't respond. What we have is a building not under a roof -- five of six floors disintegrating before your eyes."

Yet the administration claims to the voters that we have made great progress. Here is a prime example."

There comes a point when a Bank breaks its ties with DEADBEATS. There are laws and guidelines in which the Bank must follow. Once they're past that point they can tell that customer to blow it out their you know what.

In this case, this property has sat long enough for everyone to realize they haven't been keeping up wit payments and now they're crying to the Daily Times like the Bank did something wrong. The stupid Daily Times fell for it because they're desperate for stories.

The funniest part is, IF they would have come through with all the money, they built the project and made millions upon millions of dollars, would the Daily Times have reported that too?

Oh, does ANYONE know what a Sunday Paper cost at a News Stand?

I Didn't Know This Rite Aide Closed

I can't believe I didn't notice this Rite Aide had closed on Mt. Hermon Road. This is a fairly new building. I wonder how many jobs were lost there too?

Salisbury News Ranks #1 In Maryland, #1 On Delmarva & #2 In Delaware

Considering all the visits and support Salisbury News receives, obviously Blognetnews recognizes what we're all about and delivered the highest rankings during the busiest and most influential time a Political Blog can be is certainly an honor.

A respectable ranking like this past week only comes once every 4 years and considering they rank us as the most "Influential" Political Blog, that's pretty cool.

Of course we couldn't have such a ranking without the support of all of you and we thank you very much for visiting. We had a few different record breaking days last week and from what we can tell, those new visitors keep coming back because the numbers are very steady.

So thank you and we'll continue to do our very best delivering you as much inside information we possibly can from the Delmarva area.

Yo Adrian, We Did It! LOL

Maryland State Police Trooper 2 Funeral Continued

"First, let me tell you that I am a parent of a MSP flight paramedic. Many of the comments explained that this type of "show" is given to any police or firefighter who dies in the line of duty. This is not only to show respect to the one who has died but also to allow those who continue to put their lies on the line to protect us that their service is appreciated by those who they protect. I attended the funerals for the two Troppers who loss their lives trying to save others. The funerals were very moving and very sad. Both Troppers have a wife, children and friends who will miss them. There are also those of us who now worry every time our family menbers go to work and sometimes wish they would find another job. But, we understand why they do what they do. If you really feel that this was a waste of time and money it may be time for you to consider what price you would put on your life or your belongings. How would you feel if you dial 911 and no one shows up? What is it worth to you to have someone rescue you from a burning house, protect your life and property or to get you to a hospital in time to save your life? My son was on hospital leave the week of the funerals but attended all four funerals without pay. This is a "show" of appreciation that, I hope, all of us should understand. I have a feeling that those of you who think this was a waste of time and money never had someone in your family involved in offering their services to the public or maybe you have ran into problems with those who protect you. I hope that one day you will understand why we honor these people the way we do. These are not fun evens to attend but I will be there again if and when someone else needs my "show" of appreciation!

May God protect all of us! Yes, even you."

Redistribution Of Wealth??

Yesterday on my way to lunch at Doe's Restaurant, I passed one of the homeless guys in that area, with a sign that read 'Vote Obama, I need the money.' Once in Doe's, my waiter had on an 'Obama 08' tee shirt. When the bill came, I decided not to tip the waiter and explained to him that while he had given me exceptional service, his tee shirt made me feel he obviously believes in Senator Obama's plan to redistribute the wealth.. I told him I was going to redistribute his tip to someone whom I deemed more in need-------the homeless guy outside. He stood there in disbelief and angrily stormed away. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $3 and told him to thank the waiter inside, as I had decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy looked at me in disbelief but seemed grateful. As I got in my truck, I realized this rather unscientific redistribution experiment had left the homeless guy quite happy for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn. Well, I guess this redistribution of wealth is going to take a while to catch on with those doing the work.

Block Party

Hey Joe........Sorry I forgot to give you a heads up on our block party today, my whole weeks been a mess I feel like I got Jet Lag. Anyway there were never a whole lot of people there at one time and I know today's weather probably isn't good for cameras. All day long I just thought the day was a bust, at the end I realized that we gave away 100 hot dogs, 64 1/4 pound burgers w/ drinks and chips to a large number of kids that probably don't get three meals a day everyday. I also realized anytime we try and make every one's quality of life a little better, it's a successful day. The President's Neighborhood Association would like to thank all involved and thanks for coming, thanks to SPD and Officer Rich Weber who was accompanied by McGruff the Crime Dawg and gave away stuff animals to the kids, and a thanks to the Sheriff's department who also sent a couple deputies to represent them and it really went well under the weather conditions. For such a bad day, it really wasn't a bad day! Tim Chaney
