Body Language

So tell me what YOU think is being said in this conversation between Grandad and Rick Pollitt?

Cohen & Ireton Are Such Fools!

If you sit back and read some of the commenters about Jim Ireton and Terry Cohen being at the Green Turtle drinking and supporting Obama, you'd think these two individuals were completely out of line.

However, the commenters forgets to mention that I too was there watching with great interest, as well as several others. Now, they talk about the alleged drinking that was going on. I stood there with Mrs. Cohen and she was drinking a Pepsi the entire time I was there, hence the large glass they don't serve alcohol in anyway.

Then how dare Terry & Jim actually go to an establishment and watch Obama speak. OMG! I couldn't care less who Terry & Jim vote for, THAT'S THEIR RIGHT AND THAT'S THEIR CHOICE!

It seems to be OK however for Carrie Sammis, (former Salisbury Zoo Education Curator) to be in the Daily Times TWICE advertising children's events, Green Beer (if you'll recall) and another time supporting environmentalists, all held at Seacrets. Where were you then? Heck, she was so proud, she had no problem holding those beers out for everyone to see, knowing the picture was going into the Daily Times.

Learn to pick your battles more carefully Folks. Perhaps I should show up at the Republican get together and show everyone drinking and oh, wait a minute, watching TV where McCain is on there asking for your vote too?

NAPC Forum - A Fallen Comrade

"It is with profound sadness that I must inform you that Colorado and the Nation lost one of our brother prosecutors in the most senseless and heinous way this week. Adams County Chief Trial Deputy Sean May was shot to death at his home on Wednesday evening. We do not yet know if it was a random act, or if Sean was targeted because of his work.

He leaves behind a wife – a damn good former prosecutor herself – who is expecting their first child in a few months.

On a personal note, Sean was a very close friend of mine; we'd known each other since before either of us were prosecutors. Sean was an honest, hard working man, with an abiding sense of public service and justice. The world is a lesser place without him.

Please keep Sean and his family in your thoughts and prayers."

While the Daily Times boasted today and yesterday, (front page news) about our very own States attorney Davis Ruark not being allowed to carry a weapon for his own safety and the safety of his Family, this comes as a sad reality to the criminal justice system. Davis Ruark absolutely 100% should be allowed to carry a weapon, period.

BARNEY SMITH’S FATUOUS POLITICAL FOLDEROL

[a Sbynews exclusive report]

This is the last report on the Democratic National Convention by a
disillusioned delegate.

"Yesterday (Thursday) the Denver airport was swarming with delegates – mainly
those who came here committed to Hillary – leaving with unhappy faces and plans
to hit the ground running to promote John McCain. They are the core of those so-
called PUMA’s. Unable to reschedule my flight, I remained here and experienced
the Obama coronation up close and personal. The spectacular that took place at
Invesco Field was mind altering in my case, but first the facts.

The run-up to the main event featured a group of “ordinary people” who were
anything but that in their grievances against the Republican Party and George
Bush. Several saw themselves as victims of his administration because of
matters that are bipartisan and involve issues that predate his presidency. All
obviously had been well rehearsed and professionally “prepped” for their 15
minutes of fame, which likely will be longer for Mr. Barney Smith of Indiana
because of his quip that it is more important and better to bestow governmental
largess on him, stating his name again, rather than on Smith Barney. I laughed
at that one, too, but doubt that he coined it.

This Hoosier hotshot said that he had lost his job when the RCA plant
(actually, Mr. Smith, it was a “Thomson RCA” facility at the time) in his
hometown, Marion, closed in 2004 and the jobs were “shipped overseas,”
suggesting that Bush and the Republicans were to blame for that. He simply and
how conveniently overlooked the reason why that happened and that manufacturing
plants in America (and several others in Marion, Indiana) have been closing and
jobs being relocated elsewhere in the world for several decades, including
during the Clinton Administration. The prime reason is the high labor and other
costs resulting from the wage level and benefits for employees as well as
regulatory matters that have been promoted by the Democrat Party and its core
union-based members for many years.

The Obama oration was bombastic and more or less predictable but for his
strident posturing. In that open stadium setting, and due in part to the stage
design, it seemed eerily like those performances by Adolph Hitler at the Sports
Palace in Berlin that sometimes appear on the History Channel. I heard someone
say that the spectacle made her recall the extravaganzas of Juan and Eva Peron.
In either case, there’s a very disturbing similarity in tone and substance.

Obama’s presentation was businesslike and clearly articulated, but otherwise
lacking in merit beyond the ordinary. About half of it was a personal attack on
McCain that was absurd in some respects. Most of the rest was a general
statement of his plan for his potential presidency that consisted of broad
sketched promises and goals that would cost huge amounts. And, of course, the
promise to cut taxes for almost everyone while doing universal health care
and “first-class” college education for all.

The man is dangerously divisive. His promise to cure all ills and provide
everything to everyone is impossible to perform, even with the massive taxes
that will surely occur if he is elected. And, Mr. Smith, that will lead to no
manufacturing jobs in Marion, Indiana, and elsewhere in the United States. His
presidency, if it occurs, could result in such widespread dissatisfaction as to
cause civil disobedience or worse, and would lead to much greater class
conflict in any event.

Obama is highly skilled and adept at fomenting friction between different
socioeconomic strata. He’s an Ivy League educated rabble-rouser cut in the same
mold as Bill Clinton, and possibly a better Pied Piper than he was at his
prime. Mr. Obama has already demonstrated remarkable talent to vilify his
opponents for every social ill and shortcoming. His ability to attract those
who believe that they have been wrongly treated or downtrodden – especially
persons who don’t understand or cannot accept the reality of their
circumstances – is not unlike the chemistry that propelled Hitler and Mussolini
onto the World Stage.

That’s why, when I return home next week, I’ll work to organize a Democrats for
McCain group. Well, just heard the boarding call for my flight – so long,
Denver, it’s been a high level (topographically, at least) blast, but the
fallout could be devastating."

Harris Praises McCain's Choice

McCain/Palin Ticket Will Bring Proven Records of Reform to Washington

Annapolis - Today State Senator Andy Harris M.D. praised John McCain's choice of Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Andy Harris released the following statement:

"People are tired of the way business is done in Washington. The McCain/Palin ticket will bring proven records of reform to Washington. Throughout her career, Governor Palin has put principle above party by exposing corruption at all levels of government. Governor Sarah Palin has a long record of opposing wasteful spending and higher taxes. I am proud Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin are at the top of the Republican ticket. If elected to Congress, I will go to Washington and fight with then President McCain and Vice-President Palin to eliminate wasteful government spending."

A Speech To The Delegates

A Speech to the Delegates

By DAVID BROOKS
Published: August 29, 2008

Here’s the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/29/opinion/29brooks.html?em

Here’s an excerpt:

And in Denver, we Democrats showed America that we have cute daughters who will
someday provide us with prestigious car-window stickers. We heard Hillary
Clinton’s ringing endorsement of “the weak-looking thin guy who’s bound to
lose.”

We heard from Joe Biden, whose 643 years in the Senate make him uniquely
qualified to talk to the middle class, whose family has been riding the Acela
and before that the Metroliner for generations, who has been given a lifetime
ban from the quiet car and who is himself a verbal train wreck waiting to
happen.

We got to know Barack and Michelle Obama, two tall, thin, rich, beautiful
people who don’t perspire, but who nonetheless feel compassion for their
squatter and smellier fellow citizens. We know that Barack could have gone to a
prestigious law firm, like his big donors in the luxury boxes, but he chose to
put his ego aside to become a professional politician, president of the United
States and redeemer of the human race. We heard about his time as a community
organizer, the three most fulfilling months of his life.

We were thrilled by his speech in front of the Greek columns, which were
conscientiously recycled from the concert, “Yanni, Live at the Acropolis.” We
were honored by his pledge, that if elected president, he will serve at least
four months before running for higher office. We were moved by his campaign
slogan, “Vote Obama: He’s better than you’ll ever be.” We were inspired by
dozens of Democratic senators who declared their lifelong love of John McCain
before denouncing him as a reactionary opportunist who would destroy the
country.

A Woman's Point Of View On Washington

"Joe

I hope you will post this. Here is the way I see it. None of us really now the
truth of what is going on in Washington. I mean NONE. We can pretend we do,
repeat things we hear, read etc... that we really don't know to be true and we
will never know. The problem is that we are still a country made up of many
followers. Why do we have these groups still. Republicans and Democrats?
Aren't we all supposed to be independent thinkers. This is America and we have
been given the right along time ago of freedom. Freedom to be independent
thinkers. I was a registered independent, but was forced to choose a party to
vote in the primaries. Why? I voted for Bush because I felt in my heart that
he was the best candidate at the time. I as many others are very disappointed
in the way the country has gone in the last eight years, but come on we can't
blame one person for it. Many people are losing their homes today because they
got scammed by mortgage companies and were not educated enough about buying
those loans and because they over extended themselves. Many of the American
People live beyond their means. People are living just as our government is.
BEYOND THEIR MEANS. Our leaders need to get some control over this countries
spending just as each American does. Not having debt will make all of us sleep
alot better and allows us to spend much more time together as a family. We are a
country that now believes, that it is where we live, what we wear and who we
know that makes us successful. How very sad. I told my husband the other day
that there is no doubt about it, that if we lost everything we had I could be
just as happy with him in a shack as I would in a mansion. It is time for the
American people to be proud of themselves and to stop judging others. The harsh
words that people right even on your blog really hurts me. It is so sad that we
have to attack people to get our point across. The ugliness of people truly
makes me want to cry that people can be that cruel. Lets all take a deep breath,
start being kind to one another and start doing the Right thing for ourselves
and our families and get involved in making the changes in our government. Not
just Washington, but in our own towns. Stop being pushed into overspending. It
is not easy these days to tell your children that they can not have that $140
pair of tennis shoes, because our children believe they are not good enough in
their friends eyes if they don't have it and then we feel bad for our kids and
then we give in. Well isn't that what our government is doing. Yes, people are
going to be angry when government programs stop and money is cut, but it is what
is best for our country to get out of debt. We have to pay the piper because we
have not as Americans been involved in our own government. Just like the city
of Salisbury. Salisbury city residence have not taken up their cross and
demanded that this problem with how the city is run be eliminated. We feed into
paying the cable company outrages amounts for television. Come on people. $80,
$90, $100 for cable tv. We tell ourselves that buying generic foods at the
store doesn't taste the same or makes us look poor. Our kids tell us that they
will not wear clothes from Walmart. People get a hold of your own homes and
then step out into your communities and get a hold of them too. I believe that
Obama is allowing us a sense of ownership to our homes, communities and
Washington government and giving us the tools to get involved. We must get
involved to make the change.

Thanks Joe,

Melissa Malone"

Introducing The Next Vice President Of The United States?

DAMN! She sure is better on the eyes than Joe Biden! And I mean that with all due respect Joe.

McCain Chooses Woman As Running Mate

McCain picks Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska as running mate. More to come.

Heres Why I Haven't Been Blogging

Billy and I have a big auction in Jackson Hole, Wyoming in September, and we are sponsors of the Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival. This sponsorship requires us to place banners promoting the event, while also being able to plug our event, in front of 36 participating Art Galleries in Jackson Hole.
Previous sponsors had silk screened duck cloth banners mass produced and hung, but the galleries nor the chamber really liked them. I decided I would go with something completely different. Cow Hide! Billy found an Auctioneer in the Midwest that was liquidating a gun holster factory, and we bought 37 of them. I am using the entire shoulder (which ways close to 20lbs). I designed several stencils and had them made and have spent the last week in production.
For those of you who have never been to Jackson, it is about 30 miles south of Yellowstone and the entire town has an 'Old West' theme that is carried continuously in everything. All buildings are either brick or log, the sidewalks are wood plank and the town square has four Elk Antler Arches surrounding the square. With this in mind I wanted to create a truly unique piece that would fit with surroundings but also last for years to come.
So here's my design, and this is what I have been doing. Thirty six of them! All by hand individually made with the extra added touch of a little gold leafing.
At this point I don't know whether I will be able to blog again, as my hand are sooo stiff, I can barely type.

Democrats Meet At The Green Turtle Last Night

Although I arrived early, (around 8:00 PM) there was a crowd of around 30 people gathering at the Green Turtle to enjoy good fellowship and Obama's Speech. As I know most of the people there, they were very welcoming and I was honored to meet the rest of the people I had not been introduced to before.

Moving forward, I went home after about an hour and decided to watch the rest of the event on TV. Here's how "I" saw things.

There's no question that Obama is a nice guy. However, everyone has to remember that the speech given has got to be the absolute speech of his entire lifetime, unless you consider the proposal to his Wife?

Nevertheless, what was said in his speech was absolutely 100% impressive. When I sit back and think about it, I think, what if it were ME standing there with 100% of the many thousands of people in that Stadium rooting for just me? I'd be confident, humbled and I'd know that Americans are respecting the fact that I've come this far. I also thought of how Obama handles himself in debates and that's a whole different environment.

I don't want to take any credit away from a well delivered speech last night but I'd also like to add that when the comments come pouring in on this Post, (should they) I'm around the same age as this man running for President. To me, that's scary. I was overwhelmed by his past, how he was raised, the fact that he had a white Mother and a black Father and has LIVED the American Dream. I have also stated in the past that I would truly enjoy seeing a woman AND a Black Person in the White House. I personally believe our Country will GROW from such an achievement.

We have lived all our existence as a Country as a White Male dominated leadership. It's truly time for a change. However, is this the time? Is this the person? Does he have the experience? Certainly he has support but is that support mainly because he is in fact the democratic choice and the fact that he's black? Oh, don't come back with that half black, half white crap! Tiger Woods is half and half and there's no question he is the proven greatest Golf Professional on this earth.

Is Obama the best Professional Politician that can make or break this Country, at his age and with his experience? You see, the way I see it Ladies & Gentlemen, (and I'll make this VERY clear again) I don't believe McCain is the best Professional Politician we have out there either. However, I'll say this for Obama, he doesn't have the special OIL interests the Bush's have proven to screw us with!

There's so much to ponder about just how screwed up both Democrats and Republicans have left us with to elect as a President of the United States. For me personally, it's embarrassing that this is all we've got. Again, I'm not at all trying to take away the fact that these are two great men, that's a given. I'm simply saying, we need a strong leader. One who's going to AWE us EVERY time he speaks, not just at a Party Convention.

Making decisions in the moment is not my style and it shouldn't be yours either. This Country is in a Depression, I don't care what any of you say. Money is tight all around and a few hundred dollars relief from our Federal Government is NOT going to resolve our problems. We need to go back to the day when AMERICA says, we're not going to take your shit any more and put our foot down. A prime example is FUEL! We need to be respected as a Country once again where our leaders are the friends of most Countries and feared the most by any others that don't want to work towards world peace and fellowship.

Anyway, I'll get off my high horse. Yes, I know, I've missed many points and topics here and we'll get to them soon enough. It's just not going to be done in one Post. I congratulate Obama for a well delivered speech but like I said, it's the speech of his entire lifetime and career and we as a Country need to think long and hard about what the future will bring us. Listen carefully about who is willing to stand up and back up what will change for our economy. Like I said, small checks aren't going to cut it. It helps but I want to know where the future lies with BOTH Candidates.

It's a serious choice and YOU need to think long and hard about what's best for OUR Country.

Mole Freckles?!?!?!

I had to share! It's even funnier the when you watch it a second time. Happy Friday everyone!

Wicomico County Sheriff's Deputy Vehicle

My good friend Jon has created yet another Model Car, this time a Sheriff's Deputy Vehicle. I think it's really cool how these talented people can create such pieces of art.

Once the Sheriff's Department saw the first set of vehicles they immediately called me and asked me if I could get them in contact with Jon and create another one for them. Here it is Sheriff Lewis.

WMDT & Salisbury News

I thought this would make for a cool shot yesterday when one of the WMDT vehicles drove past Salisbury News. Then I wondered, were they on the road out scooping me on a story? LOL, not hardly. Word has it they were simply heading out to gas up for the next phone call I made to them on yet another breaking story. Can you tell it's been a slow two days for news? That is, unless you want to give credit to the Daily Times for the Davis Ruark bushings two days in a row? It does amaze me how quiet things have been every since Hillary, (I mean Barrie) has been out of Town.

Blog Owners NOT Responsible For Comments Of Others

ACSBlog: The Blog of the American Constitution Society: Federal Court Reaffirms Immunity of Bloggers from Suits Brought Against Commenters…

In Universal Communication Systems v. Lycos, a company who had allegedly been victimized by defamatory statements on a message board regarding the value of its stock sued Lycos, which operated the board. The message board allowed users to post comments with minimal moderation, and no one from Lycos was responsible for the allegedly defamatory statements.

Examining the impact of Sec. 230 on this case, the court noted that "Congress intended that, within broad limits, message board operators would not be held responsible for the postings made by others on that board," adding that allowing bloggers and message board operators to be sued for the statements of commenters on their sites would have an "obvious chilling effect" on speech. Accordingly, the court dismissed the complaint against Lycos.

Isabella Street In One Year

Look how Mayor Tilghman partnered up with that Idiot Gary Comegys with the SHA and decided to BLOW taxpayer money on yet what has now proven to be an Idiotic idea. I don't care if it came from Grant money or local tax dollars, clearly this was a stupid idea and is making the City of Salisbury looks like the slum that it is.

Again, I challenge this Administration to tell me ONE THING they have done good for the TAXPAYERS in the City of Salisbury in the past 10 years?

Little Mary Pat Had A Box Of Small Kittens

Little Mary Pat had a box of very small kittens that she was trying to give away, so she had them out on the street corner with a sign 'FREE KITTENS' next to them.

Suddenly a big line of big black cars came up with a policeman on a
motorcycle in front.

The cars all stopped and a tall man stepped out from the biggest car.
It's Senator Obama.

'Hi, little girl, what do you have there in the box?' he asked.
'Kittens' Little Mary Pat says.
'They're so small, their eyes are not even open yet.'

'What kind of kittens are they?' he asked.
'Democrats' says Little Mary Pat.

The tall man smiled, returned to his car and they drove away.
Sensing a good photo opportunity, Sen. Obama called his campaign manager and told him about the little girl and the kittens.

It was planned that they would return the next day, have all the media there and tell everyone about these great kittens.

The next day, Little Mary Pat is standing out on the corner with her box of kittens with the 'FREE KITTENS' sign and the big motorcade of black cars pulled up with all the vans and trucks from ABC, NBC, CBS, BET and CNN but no FOX for some reason..

Everyone had their cameras ready and then, Sen. Obama got out of his limo and walked up to Little Mary Pat.

'Now, don't be frightened,' he said, 'I just want you to tell all these
nice news people just what kind of kittens you're giving away today.'

'Yes sir,' Mary Pat said, 'The are all REPUBLICAN kittens.'

Taken by surprise, Sen. Obama said, 'But yesterday, you told me that they were DEMOCRATS.'

Little Mary Pat says, 'Yes, I know. But today, they have their eyes open.'

Do We Have A Million Dollars In Our Bank Account Right Now?

Justin Collis (SP?) of the Wicomico County Liquor Dispensary was asked if they had $1,000,000.00 in their Bank Account and this was his response when the question was asked and he repeated it. I knew something was up just as soon as he asked the question back exactly as it was stated. His response was, NO. When AK Kenny asked him how much money was in the account then he replied, well, not exactly a million dollars. He stalled and then admitted there was around $980,000.00 in the account.

He went on to explain how an entire trailer load of liquor can cost almost $100,000.00 and a truck load of beer can cost almost $20,000.00. OK, so do tell me why you're floating almost $1,000,000.00 in the account again?

Is That Don Ewalt Sleeping And Barrie Tilghman Not Paying Any Attention?

First of all, are the taxpayers paying for Barrie Tilghman to attend these Chamber Meetings?

Perhaps if Don was awake he'd be more educated about how much money is in the Bank Account for the Dispensary.

Oh, by the way, there was no Daily Times at this meeting nor any other news source. So I guess I can call this exclusive coverage, AS USUAL!

Royal Farms On Rt. 50 Is Coming Along Quick

Known for their almost Ice Cold Beer and great gas prices, the new Royal Farms just west of Salisbury is coming along faster than I had expected. Give it a few more weeks and watch the lines in this joint! I happen to believe this is one of the best locations I've ever seen for a Gas Station. All that traffic coming from Ocean City as well will deliver them unbelievable sales.

Salisbury News will certainly keep them honest gas price wise too.

Question of the Day, Fri 8/29

This week (8/25-8/29) is National "Safe at Home" Week.

How safe is your home? If you have kids, is it kid-friendly? If you have pets, is it pet-friendly? Do you test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors tested monthly?
