Harry Reid just made sure the Senate will deal with amending the Constitution first thing when it gets back from recess

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., on Friday scheduled a Sept. 8 procedural vote on a constitutional amendment to limit the amount of money that can be donated to campaigns, a measure that's likely more about curbing donations to conservative candidates than it is about about cleaning up politics.

Meanwhile, the U.S.-Mexico border is being overrun by thousands of unaccompanied illegal minors and lawmakers have yet to come up with a solution to the growing humanitarian crisis.

Think about it: Just before Senate business ended Friday, with roughly 100 lawmakers skipping town to return to their home districts for the five-week August recess, Reid filed cloture on a motion to proceed with S.J. Res. 19, which seeks to undo the Supreme Court's 2010 Citizens United decision that ruled the federal government cannot restrict political contributions from unions and corporations.

Woman Sues After Becoming Unwitting Hostage In Unannounced Active Shooter Drill

"Unfortunately, the training exercise alarmed some at our facility..."

A Colorado woman has filed suit against her former employer and the Carbondale Police Department after she says she was taken hostage during an unannounced active shooter drill.

The training exercise, which occurred last October, allegedly resulted in Michelle Meeker being held at gunpoint by a police officer disguised as a mass shooter.

Meeker says she was confronted by the officer while working at the Heritage Park Care Center, an assisted living facility for senior citizens, and forced towards a vacant room. Convinced the situation was real, Meeker says she refused to enter, prompting the officer to flash a firearm on his waist.

That is when Meeker says she began begging for her life, asking the gunmen to spare her for the sake of her young child. According to reports, the officer eventually identified himself as Michael Zimmerman before admitting that the event was a training drill.

Pennsylvania Man Dies in Fatal Crash Near Bear

Bear, DE – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a late afternoon crash that killed one man and injured two others.

The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Friday as Juan Manuel Castro-Mendoza, 35 of Newark, DE, was operating a 2001 Lincoln Navigator on the ramp connecting US40 eastbound to SR1 northbound. Robert A. Bloomer, 51 of East Earl, PA, was operating a 2014 Kenworth T800 truck northbound on SR 1 in the right lane of travel. As the Navigator began to approach the merge with SR1 northbound, Castro-Mendoza lost control of the vehicle and traveled westbound from the ramp into the northbound right lane of SR1. The left side of the Lincoln struck the right side of commercial truck causing both vehicles to spin clockwise. The SUV continued to travel northeast and come to a stop on the northbound shoulder of SR1. The Kenworth truck overturned onto the driver's side and continued in a northeast direction before striking the guardrail on the east side of SR1 northbound. It continued to rotate clockwise, while on its right side before coming to a stop in the right lane.

Robert Bloomer, who was not properly restrained, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A 22-year-old passenger in the truck was partially ejected and transported by EMS to Christiana Medical Center where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Juan Manuel Castro-Mendoza was properly restrained and was transported to Christiana Medical Center. He was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into this incident is on-going and charges may be forthcoming. SR1 was closed for more than six hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

House Revives, Approves Border Crisis Bill – As Obama Vows To ‘Act Alone’

The House late Friday revived and approved a Republican-authored border crisis bill after GOP leaders hurriedly resolved an internal battle that scuttled the vote a day earlier – but with the Senate on recess and the House soon to follow, there’s little chance of any bill reaching President Obama’s desk until the fall.

The president now is vowing to act unilaterally to address the illegal immigration issue.

The House legislation was approved on a 223-189 vote. The new version of the bill adds additional funding for the National Guard and includes policy changes meant to speed deportations of illegal immigrant children surging across the southern border

Congressman Massie: There Will Be ‘Anger, Frustration and Embarrassment’ When Redacted Pages of 9/11 Report Come Out

Congressman Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) is one of a number of lawmakers urging the government to declassify 28 redacted pages of a report investigating the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Massie said at a press conference earlier this month that when he read the redacted pages of the report, titled “Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001,” he had to stop “every couple pages” to try to rearrange his “understanding of history.”

“It challenges you to rethink everything,” he said.

Massie appeared on The Glenn Beck Program Wednesday to speak more on the subject and — though he couldn’t reveal any details — he said there will be “anger, frustration, and embarrassment when these 28 pages finally come out.”

Illegal Immigrants Getting 'Suites' at Remodeled Texas ICE Facility

As House Republicans scramble to come up with a last-minute border bill before their August recess, we're now hearing about a reported plan by I.C.E to open a remodeled detention center that will give illegal immigrants "suite" accommodations.

The renovated rooms are meant to house women and children who entered the U.S. illegally through the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.

Here's more on the facility from KRGV-TV in San Antonio
The 532-bed facility underwent a massive renovation to house women and children. The center housed only adult immigrants in the past.

Immigrants will be at the facility for an average of 23 days.

The feds said the rooms will be referred to as "suites." The suites are furnished with bunk beds, play tables for children, flat-screen television sets and landline telephones.

CNN Anchor Bill Weir to Fox Nation: ‘You Willfully Ignorant F*cksticks’

It’s safe to say CNN anchor Bill Weir is not a fan of climate change deniers.

On Thursday, the Twitter account for Fox Nation, a blog run by Fox News, tweeted a link to a postheadlined, “Climate Doesn’t Cooperate With Al Gore’s Group’s Visit to Denver EPA Hearings.”

The story, aggregated from the Washington Times, relates to a Denver visit by former Vice President Al Gore‘s “Climate Reality Project” for EPA hearings on power plant emissions.

The group showed up to hand out ice cream even though it was 58 degrees.

Weir retweeted the link, with his own comment: “Weather is not climate, you willfully ignorant fucksticks.”

We’ve requested comment from CNN.

Obama Military Downsizing Leaves U.S. Too Weak To Counter Global Threats, Panel Finds

An independent panel appointed by the Pentagon and Congress said Thursday that President Obama’s strategy for sizing the armed services is too weak for today’s global threats.

The National Defense Panel called on the president to dump a major section of his 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) and write a broader strategy that requires the military to fight on multiple fronts at once.

It also said the shrinking U.S. armed forces, which are being downsized to fit that strategy and budget cuts, is a “serious strategic misstep on the part of the United States.” The forces’ numbers spelled out in Mr. Obama’s QDR are “inadequate given the future strategic and operational environment.”

Court Releases 'Fast And Furious' Info Withheld By Obama

A federal court has ruled that the Obama Department of Justice must turn over to the non-profit watchdog group Judicial Watch an index of materials related to the “Fast and Furious” gun-running scandal that were withheld by the White House under executive privilege claims.

Judicial Watch sued because the government didn’t respond to its Freedom of Information Act requests in June and September of 2012.

The ruling by Judge John D. Bates of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia forces the Obama DOJ, for the first time, to provide a Vaughn Index, a detailed listing of all documents that it has withheld from Congress about the scandal along with justification for each withholding.

“Once again, Judicial Watch has beat Congress to the punch in getting key information about another Obama scandal – this time, the Fast and Furious outrage,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

NAACP: National Convention In Baltimore Not A Done Deal

The NAACP says the site of its 2016 national convention, reported to be Baltimore, has not yet been selected.

The civil rights groups said in a statement Thursday that its convention planning committee recently heard presentations from Baltimore; Austin, Texas; Cincinnati, and St. Louis. It said the ongoing selection process will include visiting the proposed sites, and recommendations will be made to the board of directors in October.

Tessa Hill-Aston, president of the Baltimore NAACP branch, said in an email on July 23 that the national board had selected Baltimore to host the 2016 convention.

Hill-Aston said Thursday that she could not immediately comment on the national group's statement or why she reported that Baltimore had been selected.

Obama: 'Embrace Economic Patriotism' So We Can 'Rise or Fall Together as a Nation'

On June 26th, Obama gave his weekly telepromptering the White House later titled, “Closing Corporate Tax Loopholes” in which the grand spokesperson for the United States of America, Inc. halfheartedly did his job reading a script on a screen to reassure us all that everything is economically rosy and coming up roses more and more everyday, before he urged the nation to “rally around economic patriotism” and rise and fall together as one nation and one people.

The next day, the White House’s official Twitter sent out the message above with the video.

Wikipedia defines economic patriotism as, “the coordinated and promoted behaviour of consumers or companies (both private and public) that consists of favoring the goods or services produced in their country or in their group of countries.”

Buy American. Well that sounds all good and fine in theory and I’m all for it, but the U.S. manufacturing base has been largely shipped overseas. People with little money to begin with (and working with less all the time) have to look much harder these days to find a product that doesn’t have a “made in China” sticker slapped on it, or a list of several other countries, the majority of which aren’t “USA”.

Bailed out mega corporations have bailed out of America.

‘Jackass’ Cast Member Arrested In OC

OCEAN CITY — Some high profile members of the “Jackass” troupe caused a brief stir in Ocean City this week and were evicted from their Boardwalk hotel early Wednesday morning.

Around 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Ocean City Police responded to the Oceanview Grill at the Quality Inn at 16th Street in the Boardwalk for a report of two disorderly males who were disturbing other guests and refused to leave. The two men, including Brandon Novak, 35, of Baltimore, were intoxicated and created a disturbance at the busy restaurant and around the hotel pool area before being asked to leave.

Novak is a prominent member of the “Jackass” entourage and has appeared in several of the films and television shows and is known as the sidekick of more the more famous Bam Margera Novak has appeared in “Jackass Number 2,” “Jackass 3D,” “Viva La Bam,” “Bam’s Unholy Union,” “Jackass 3.5,” and “Haggard” along with other spinoffs from the popular films and series known for their outrageous stunts.

Obama Administration Spent Thousands On Strippers, Boxing Tickets In Failed Sting On Border Patrol Agent

The Justice Department had made clear it was unwilling to provide even basic details of the investigation to the defense during pre-trial hearings

The Obama administration abandoned a corruption case against an Arizona border patrol agent after his attorney accused federal agents of entrapping his client, and spending federal dollars on strippers, plane tickets, and tickets to a Manny Pacquiao fight as part of their investigation.

A federal judge dismissed money-laundering and corruption charges against Customs and Border Protection agent Lauro Tobias Tuesday in response to dismissal motions from both the Department of Justice and Tobias’ attorney, which were filed within hours of each other July 25.

Tobias, a 10-year veteran of the CBP who also served in the Air Force for two decades, was arrested in March 2013 after he took a trip from Phoenix to Las Vegas for a drug deal — six kilograms of cocaine were exchanged with unnamed persons for $100,000. Tobias was paid $4,000 for working as security during the deal, based on court documents.

Sheriff: Over 120,000 Illegals Arrested in One Sector

Pinal County, AZ Sheriff Paul Babeu announced that over 120,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested in just the Tucson sector of the southern border. “We have [had] 123,000 illegals arrested right here in the Tucson sector” Babeu said on Wednesday’s “Sean Hannity Show.” He added that eight “cartel scouts” arrested in the last month. “close to 60,000, what’s predicted to be 90,000 by October 1 of unaccompanied juveniles” are expected cross the border in just the Del Rio Sector of Texas. [Note: Babeu is likely referring to number of unaccompanied juveniles apprehended along the entire border and misspoke when he mentioned the Del Rio Sector.]

Babeu also criticized the Obama administration’s lack of interest in securing the border, stating that Hannity has “done more on this issue...than, not just Jeh Johnson, than the president and every member of his cabinet combined.”

City Staff Praised For Handling Of Bridge Malfunction

OCEAN CITY – The city’s response to the bridge malfunction last weekend was reviewed this week with the conclusion being officials followed the appropriate procedure.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ocean City Emergency Services Director Joe Theobald came before the Mayor and City Council to give an overview of the process that took place Saturday when the Route 50 drawbridge became stuck in the open position for five hours causing nightmare traffic backups.

The drawbridge opened at its scheduled opening of 2:55 on Saturday afternoon. At that time, a storm was approaching Ocean City, and the beaches had been cleared sending motorists out onto Coastal Highway.

“There are number of things that took place … the failure was both mechanical and electrical. A machinery support beam that is an I-beam of about 18 inches by 54 inches long had some section loss, which in plain term is it had rusting on it,” Theobald said. “That caused the beam to snap and twist out of alignment, which then caused the limit switch for the bridge that controls when the bridge is placed down and showing its closed and ready for traffic to fail. The bridge tender certainly understood the bridge was not seated properly because when they tried to lower it after its scheduled opening the western stand stayed approximately four feet up in the air.”

Feds Sending Illegals to Maryland Sanctuary County

The Obama administration is preparing to dump illegal immigrant juveniles in one of the nation's most prominent sanctuary counties in Maryland just weeks after Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley (D) reportedly begged the White House not to ship illegal immigrants to his state.

According to NBC Washington, "Montgomery County has been asked to house unaccompanied minors from Central America in a state facility until foster families can be found for them." Maryland is reportedly "looking to house up to 1,800 unaccompanied minors now in federal custody after crossing the border," and 25 of the illegal immigrant juveniles will be sent to Montgomery Country.

Montgomery County is reportedly home to "half of all the immigrants" in the state, according to a state official, and "more than 100 unaccompanied minors were enrolled in the county's public school system last year." They qualified for "English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)" classes, and enrollment in those classes has been surging.

As Judicial Watch noted, "Montgomery County has long offered illegal aliens a variety of perks and protections" and came under "intense fire a few years ago over a series of high-profile murders committed by illegal immigrants who had been arrested by local police and released." They were not deported due to "the county’s sanctuary policies, they were not reported to federal authorities for deportation despite their criminal histories." In addition, Montgomery County has "spent $100,000 in taxpayer funds to help illegal immigrants fill out paperwork to receive temporary amnesty under President Barack Obama's Deferred Action plan that he unilaterally instituted."

Meet America’s First Muslim: It’s a Real Scream

Islam is that “old time religion.” – Timothy Drew (a/k/a Noble Drew Ali)

In his speech before the University of Cairo, President Barack Obama said that Islam “has always been part of America’s story,” adding that Muslims have “enriched” the United States since the time of its founding.

Mr. Obama’s statement raises a question that few historians, let alone elected officials, have raised in the past.

Who was the first American Muslim?

Some maintain that this forgotten figure was a Moorish slave who was transported to South Carolina in 1587. This is problematic, since not one scintilla of historical evidence can be used to support this assertion.

Historical evidence, however, does exist to show that Ayuiba Suleiman Diallo and Omar ibn Said were transported to the New World as slaves in 1731. But this evidence also shows that these slaves were returned to Africa in 1734.

A few Muslim writers maintain that America’s first Muslim was a Native American named Mahomet. The basis of this claim is that the name of Mahomet bears a resemblance to the name of the Prophet of Allah. The same argument, of course, could be employed to establish that Mahomet was a Mahican or a Mahayana.

If Mahomet doesn’t qualify, others argue, the title must belong to Peter Salem, a former slave who fought at the Battle of Bunker Hill. This noble figure, we are told, must have been a Muslim since “Salem” bears an etymological resemblance to “Salaam,” the Arabic word for peace. Such arguments could be used more convincingly to contend that this stalwart figure’s home was Salem, Massachusetts.

When all attempts fail to produce one believing Muslim who lived in colonial America, Islamic revisionists turn to legend and the story “Old Tom,” a 19th century slave on a Georgia plantation, who purportedly proclaimed on his death-bed: “Allah is God and Muhammad is his prophet.”

Of course, there isn’t documentation to show that “Old Tom the Mohammadan” ever lived, let alone uttered shahadah being giving up the ghost.

Who was America’s first Muslim?

The "Maryland Mob" Has Some Serious Work To Do

Recently we wrote about Martin O’Malley – the uber-liberal governor of Maryland who is aspiring to challenge presumed nominee Hillary Clinton for the 2016 Democratic Presidential nod.

It wasn’t a good article, either … but that’s not our fault. O’Malley fell asleep during a meeting. We had to poke fun at him. Just as we had to mock his state for its anti-competitive assault on the Second Amendment.

Anyway … O’Malley can take comfort in the fact that despite our best efforts to improve his name identification in early-voting South Carolina, home to the nation’s “First in the South” presidential primaries, he’s still an unknown commodity.

According to Gallup polling released earlier this month, a whopping 69 percent of Democrats (and Democratic-leaning “independents”) have never heard of O’Malley – compared to 9 percent who view him favorably, 7 percent who view him unfavorably and 15 percent who have heard of him but have no opinion.

That makes O’Malley the least-known of the 2016 Democratic contenders – a field paced by Clinton, vice president Joe Biden, New York governor Andrew Cuomo and U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

In fact O’Malley’s name recognition trails Warren – who a virtual unknown compared to Clinton or Biden – by a whopping thirty percentage points.

We’ve written previously on efforts by the “Maryland Mob” - a.k.a. Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, O’Malley, Chris Van Hollen, et. al. – to position O’Malley as a viable presidential contender (at Clinton’s expense). Clearly they’ve got their work cut out for them.

Crime-Riddled Baltimore Poised to Impose Strict Curfew

City officials in crime-ridden Baltimore on Tuesday defended plans for one of the toughest U.S. youth curfews against criticism from residents who were skeptical about police enforcement of the new law.

In a forum with residents, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said the measure, set to take effect on Aug. 8, was aimed at getting children off the streets before they were put in danger.

"This is not about criminalizing young black children but to reach them before the only option for them is law enforcement," the mayor told the crowd of about 100 people.

Police Commissioner Anthony Batts said he had sometimes come across children riding bicycles across the city at 3 a.m. When the parents were contacted, they had no idea where their children were, he said.

"They should not be out there, and you should be honest about that," Batts said.

Senators Urge Battle Against Fraudulent Crabmeat

OCEAN CITY — U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) and her colleagues in neighboring Virginia last week fired off a strongly worded letter urging the Obama administration to take steps to combat seafood fraud.

Mikulski, along with Virginia Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, and Congressman Rob Wittman, urged the administration to include the fraudulent labeling of crabmeat in its efforts to combat fishing and seafood fraud. It has come to light recently that some seafood processors are deceptively labeling foreign crabmeat as a “product of the United States” by importing foreign crabmeat and repacking it in domestic facilities, misleading consumers as to its origin.

“Maryland’s seafood industry is critical for jobs on the Eastern Shore and our way of life,” said Mikulski. “When families read the crabmeat they are consuming is the product of the United States, they expect it to be. We must end the practice of dangerous and deceptive labeling of imported crabmeat that puts in jeopardy the livelihoods of Maryland’s watermen.”

What Are The Odds?

So its late at night, you're sitting on your couch enjoying a good show on TV and all of a sudden, BAM!

Not only did a car wreck on your property, this car missed ALL of the BIG trees and get this, drove straight through the trailer you had up for sale in the front yard.

That's right, this woman didn't hit a single tree. The best part of this story... TRAILER SOLD! The Insurance Company will be paying top dollar for this puppy.

When Do YOU Think It Will Fall?

For years now I have been traveling down Rt. 54 wondering, when will this structure fall over?

Although these pictures don't truly show just how far this building is leaning, trust me, this puppy is about to fall over.

That being said, take a guess. When do YOU think it will fall?

Border Crisis Poll: Public Turns Against Obama, Democrats & Media

A new AP-GfK poll is all around bad news for President Obama, Democrats, and a mainstream media determined to push his amnesty agenda. Not only is public approval souring towards Obama's handling of the issue, the idea of a path to citizenship for illegals, and the policy of offering asylum for this wave of Central American children; a plurality now see the Republican Party as better able to handle the issue of immigration.

When asked about the President's handling of the immigration issue, only 31% said they approve, while a whopping 68% disapprove. That's a 14-point shift against the president since the middle of May, when he sat at 38% approve, 60% disapprove.

When asked which party is better able to handle the immigration issue, Republicans win a plurality of 29% compared to 25% for Democrats. Back in May, Democrats led on this question, 29% - 23%. That's a 10-point flip in favor of the GOP.

Charge: 'Clintons turned the State Department into a racket to line their own pockets'

Bill and Hillary Clinton are coming under fire today after State Department documents showed that officials rubber-stamped the former president’s expansive and sometimes high-priced overseas speaking engagements while his wife was in charge of foreign policy with many of those nations.

“These documents are a bombshell and show how the Clintons turned the State Department into a racket to line their own pockets,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. Judicial Watch and the Washington Examiner teamed to seek and publish those documents today.

“How the Obama State Department waived hundreds of ethical conflicts that allowed the Clintons and their businesses to accept money from foreign entities and corporations seeking influence boggles the mind,” said Fitton, adding, “That former President Clinton trotted the globe collecting huge speaking fees while his wife presided over U.S. foreign policy is an outrage."

The Examiner reported that the former president gave 215 speeches and earned $48 million while Hillary Clinton was at State.

The joint investigation also found Foggy Bottom didn’t object to a single proposed speech.

The duo’s income has become an issue in her burgeoning presidential campaign. They have a net worth of an estimated $80 million, with much of their bank account built on speech fees collected by Bill Clinton from venues around the world.

Great Pocomoke Fair Offers ‘Taste Of The Rural Life’

The Great Pocomoke Fair is back this weekend with harness racing, livestock exhibits, tractor pulls and classic Eastern Shore fare at the southern end of Worcester County.

Festivities kicked off yesterday at the festival grounds at 2003 Broad Street in Pocomoke City and continue today and tomorrow, drawing visitors by the thousands, said Festival Treasurer Gloria Smith.

“It’s a small, rural fair and it will give people a taste of the rural life,” Smith said.

Gates will be open from 5-10 p.m. today, Friday. For $2 admission, which helps offset the cost of the fair, visitors have free range of the livestock barn open all evening as well as a host of demonstrations and contests.

FBI terrorists among us: 1993 WTC Bombing: The mind-boggling role of the Bureau

There seems to be a rule: if a terror attack takes place and the FBI investigates it, things are never what they seem.

Federal attorney Andrew C McCarthy prosecuted the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing case. A review of his book, Willful Blindness, states:

“For the first time, McCarthy intimately reveals the real story behind the FBI’s inability to stop the first World Trade Center bombing even though the bureau had an undercover informant in the operation — the jihadists’ supposed bombmaker.

“In the first sentence of his hard-hitting account, the author sums up the lawyerly — but staggeringly incomprehensive — reason why the FBI pulled its informant out of the terrorist group even as plans were coming to a head on a major attack:

“’Think of the liability!’

“The first rule for government attorneys in counterintelligence in the 1990s was, McCarthy tells us, ‘Avoid accountable failure.’ Thus, when the situation demanded action, the feds copped a CYA posture, the first refuge of the bureaucrat.”

Border Crisis Finds Its Way Into Race For Maryland Governor

Brown supports sheltering children in Md.; Hogan says it's a mistake

The crisis on the border has found its way into the race for Maryland governor

Democrat Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown supports temporarily sheltering some of the children in Maryland while Republican Larry Hogan believes that's a mistake.

Brown blames the problem on Washington's failure to pass comprehensive immigration reform. He prioritizes handling first making sure the children are safe, then reuniting them with their families or parents.

"If we can't do that, or certainly if we can't do it safely, then we should transition them through foster care on a temporary basis," Brown said.

Voter ID Law Upheld by Wisconsin Supreme Court

"Photo identification is a condition of our times.."

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a state law requiring voters to have photo identification to cast a ballot, although the law remains blocked by an earlier ruling by a federal judge that it is unconstitutional.

The court wrote in its decision that providing a photo identification at the ballot box does not create a substantial burden to the voter, as claimed by the plaintiffs in the case.

“Photo identification is a condition of our times where more and more personal interactions are being modernized to require proof of identity,” the court wrote.

Similar voter identification laws have become a political and racial flashpoint across the United States with Democrats generally opposed and many Republicans backing them.

Hillary Clinton Approved Bill Clinton’s Paydays from Enemies of the US

It must be nice when you can mediate your own family’s conflicts of interest. That’s the position that Hillary Clinton and her cronies found themselves in as Secretary of State.

State Department legal advisers, serving as “designated agency ethics officials,” approved Bill Clinton’s speeches in China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Panama, Turkey, Taiwan, India, the Cayman Islands and other countries.

The memos approving Mr. Clinton’s speeches were routinely copied to Cheryl Mills, Hillary Clinton’s senior counsel and chief of staff.

Mills is a longtime Clinton troubleshooter who defended the president during his impeachment.

In a December 2008 memorandum of understanding, the protocols were expanded to Bill Clinton, the Clinton Foundation and related initiatives — specifically, to reviewing Bill Clinton’s proposed speeches and consulting deals.

In an accompanying letter to the State Department legal adviser, Clinton lawyer David Kendall noted that Bill Clinton would disclose proposed consulting deals and, for speeches, provide “the identities of the host(s) (the entity that pay the speaker’s fee)” so that the State Department “in consultation with the White House as appropriate, may conduct a review for any real or apparent conflicts of interest with the duties of the Secretary of State.”

Senate Democrats' Bill Puts Foot in the Door for Gun Confiscation

On July 29 Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Chris Murphy (D-CT) introduced legislation encouraging states to "[seize] firearms when adjudicating or responding to domestic violence situations."

Called the Domestic Violence Gun Homicide Prevention Act of 2014, the bill works by "[granting] incentives to states that match or exceed current federal domestic violence gun prohibitions."

According to the Roanoke Free Press, Kaine described the legislation as "commonsense." He said "domestic violence fatalities are far too common in Virginia" and the Domestic Violence Gun Homicide Prevention Act of 2014 will "provide critical protection to abuse victims."

Salisbury Kennel Club Charitable Trust

The Salisbury Maryland Kennel Club Charitable Trust donated 2 Heat Sensor monitors for the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department K-9 Units. President, Julia Crawford presented these to Sheriff Mike Lewis. This makes a total of three that they have. They currently are in need of more to assure their K-9 partners are safe when they need to be left in the car when an officer has to leave the vehicle.

Smartphone Addiction Now Has A Clinical Name

It should come as no surprise to hear that Americans love their smartphones.

According to data from the Pew Research Center, 90% of Americans have a cell phone, while a full 58% of them own smartphones.

More surprising, though, is the percentage of people who have developed a psychological attachment to their phones.

It's called "nomophobia" (short for no-mobile-phone phobia), and psychologists say that it's affecting more and more young people.

Big presidential entourages from 3 nations facing Ebola outbreak coming to Obama's Africa summit

The presidents and other top officials from the three nations considered Ground Zero for the deadly Ebola virus are still planning to attend President Obama’s U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit next week, adding another layer of concern to a world meeting expected to gridlock Washington for three days.

At least one of those leaders attending the Sunday-Wednesday summit, Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan, is bringing a 73-person entourage. Those from Guinea and Liberia are also expected to be large.

While the travel of the entourages and support staff such as jet crews is naturally raising concerns, the White House tamped down worries and said the summit will go on.

“In terms of the summit, I would tell you that we’re working closely with regional governments to stem the spread of the virus. We have no plans to change any elements of the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit, as we believe all air travel continues to be safe here,” said spokesman Eric Schultz on Air Force One as the president returned home Wednesday.

Protecting Maryland’s Blue Crabs

I say, “Maryland.”

You say, “Crabs.”

Few things dial up an instant connection to our home state like a pile of steamed crabs, hot to the touch and dusted with Old Bay, spread across a table covered with brown paper. Surrounded by friends and family with the Orioles game providing the soundtrack—you could be somewhere else, but why would you want to be?

We often take for granted our next bushel of crabs and the one after that, just as our parents and grandparents did.

We shouldn’t. Harsh winter weather, coastal currents and natural predators can threaten the health of the blue crab population. To be sure, conditions can change as quickly as the striped bass bite in early fall. Good crab harvest years, such as 2012, are sometimes followed by poor seasons marked by scarcity and high prices.

The Maryland Natural Resources Police have launched a campaign – Don’t Get Pinched – to target crabbers who don’t play by the rules. The enforcement effort is being embraced by our partners at the Virginia Marine Resources Commission and the Potomac River Fisheries Commission, as we stand together to protect and manage these resources using the best available science.

NRP’s game plan follows the one established last year to protect another Bay keystone species – oysters. Surveillance, undercover operations, night vision equipment, saturation patrols and the Maritime Law Enforcement Information Network (MLEIN) are all being employed. Officers will be on the lookout for undersized crabs, overharvesting, recreational crabbers keeping female crabs, and crab pots that are not registered.

Rest assured we are not looking to ruin anyone’s outing or dinner plans. We are working to ensure the health of our fishery, the livelihoods of honest, law-abiding watermen and the enjoyment of our citizens.

Despite harvest being within the safe range for the last six years, the 2014 spawning age female crab abundance was just below the minimum safe level and the last two juvenile population surveys were not as robust as we would have liked. With this, awareness and enforcement efforts such as Don’t Get Pinchedare necessary now more than ever.

The signature species of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries will keep its treasured place in our heritage only if we protect it. So, enjoy Maryland’s delicious blue crab and the rest of your summer… but don’t get pinched.

Maryland Department of Natural Resources
