Comment On Zoo Worthy Of A Post

This got me from the article:

"The other (zoo director applicant offered the job) said the position was above his or her experience level."

So, out of 30 applicants, they offered the job to 2 of them, and one felt he or she wasn't qualified.

What the HELL does THAT say about the wisdom of those doing the selection process and the "We've had some very good candidates" according to the mayor!?!?

Can't get it ready in time for AZA certification? I thought Rapp said they were in great shape but for the quarantine building. I remember something about him bragging about them sailing through a USDA inspection or whatever.

To all those who blast Albero about hitting on the zoo and the administration, I'd say this DT article spoke volumes about the condition of the zoo and the level of folks it attracted to run it. And just as much about the people in the GOB and zoo commission who ran the selection.

Our poor little zoo, our poor city! That article made me see red and I gotta admit Albero got it right.

Heaven help us and get us some COMPETENCY for our city and our zoo!

SENATE MINORITY WHIP CALLS GILCHREST AD ANOTHER “DIRTY TRICK”

Annapolis – State Senator Andy Harris today called Wayne Gilchrest’s new attack ad an “outright fabrication.” He called on Gilchrest to stop engaging in negative attacks and start telling the voters the truth about where each of them stand on the issue of illegal immigration.

“I don’t think the contrast on this issue could be more clear,” said Andy Harris. “I oppose amnesty, Wayne Gilchrest supports it. This ad is a complete fabrication of the facts. The voters deserve better.”

Senator Allen Kittleman Republican Minority Whip said, “I am disappointed Gilchrest would resort to the dirty trick of intentionally misleading voters about a sitting state senator’s record, especially one with such a clear record of leadership on taxes and illegal immigration.”

These misleading negative attack ads are just another item in a long line of dirty tricks campaigning by Gilchrest. Two weeks ago, the Washington Times reported Wayne Gilchrest had been actively orchestrating the candidacy of Robert Banks to help siphon votes away from Harris.

In the negative attack ad, Gilchrest claims Andy supports giving illegal immigrants drivers' licenses. Senator Janet Greenip, sponsor of the REAL ID Act of 2007, a law to crackdown on illegal immigration, points out this could not be further from the truth, “Andy has been a leader with me as we have fought to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving drivers' licenses.”

Harris has a clear and a consistent record of leadership opposing illegal immigration while in the State Senate. This year, Andy's leadership to filibuster a bill allowing in-state tuition for illegal immigrants in the Maryland State Senate killed the bill. Andy co-sponsored Senator Greenip's REAL ID Act of 2007 to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving drivers' licenses.

Gilchrest’s record of supporting Amnesty (co-sponsor H.R.371) and benefits for illegal immigrants is in clear contrast to Andy’s:

H.R. 371 2007: Gilchrest is co-sponsor of a bill that grants amnesty to illegal immigrants.
H.R.1885 5/21/2001 Vote 127: Gilchrest voted to allow illegal immigrants who overstayed their visas to pay a $1,000 fine and stay in the U.S. while they completed their residency application.
H. AMDT 745 9/9/2004 Voted 439: Gilchrest voted against the amendment that would have barred illegal immigrants working in the U.S. from receiving Social Security benefits.
H.AMDT 138 5/17/2005 Vote 177: Gilchrest voted against the amendment that would have denied federal homeland security funding to state and local governments who refuse to share information with federal immigration authorities.
“As a member of Congress, I will continue to oppose ALL forms of amnesty and will vote to secure our border,” said Andy Harris

Why Is Salisbury News Better Than The Daily Times?

Well, for starters you don't have to walk a country mile to go get it in the rain or snow or whatever. Then when you get there, it's not there!

Once it does arrive, you read it once and it's over. Here at Salisbury News, we're constantly delivering fresh updated stories throughout the day. The really cool part about my stories are, you can relate. You feel like you're right there with me on it. You don't feel as if Barrie Tilghman were standing over my shoulder with an axe threatening to cut my head off if I don't tell it her way.

The Daily Times wants to mind screw you. They want to tell you bits and pieces and strongly suggest what they want you to believe. This doesn't sell papers any more and when you're so well known for being called the Tilghman Times, you're screwed.

Not this Daily Times though. They are so in bed with this Mayor that they can't even tell a balanced and fair story. It's kind of like the Police Chief. He's not such a bad guy. He's just a puppet and she's in control. I'm a different kind of man, that's all. You're NOT going to tell me what to do, especially if I know my business better than that Witch does! DO YOU GET IT NOW? Barrie is NOT nor ever has been in the Police Business!

Anyhow, you're going to enjoy this format better because we bring you reality. Does anyone here challenge the fact that SOME of the Fire Fighters are bigots? You've seen the comments. You now know who we're dealing with, right? Have you seen one single thing in The Daily Times about the racial discrimination within the Fire Department? NOPE, not gonna happen. Barrie controls that Newspaper and the mere fact that I was on the phone when she and the entire former City Council walked in screaming and yelling because of the first Zoo article, cursing like a sailor, I know who controls that paper. What you DID see was an article about how well diverse they are now. Bull Sh*t! So they brought some recruits in. Anyone there can and will tell you that 50% of them at least won't stick around. I can tell you that once the "N" Word is thrown around, the Blacks won't stay there and or a few white boys will have their asses kicked first.

So kick back each day and enjoy Folks, Lawsuits or not, they're not shutting me down and the threats roll off my back, no big deal at all.

If You're Giving & Donating, They Love You!

Someone just commented on another Post, "Joe...Just wanted to say you are doing a great job. Some may not agree with your style, but what you are doing is important work. You are bringing to light things that others don't want to talk about and no matter how many times you are threatened you keep going. Hey everybody out there, like Joe or not, he is raising awareness in the community and making a difference. Having met Joe, he is a nice man and easy to talk to. Keep this site going. You have a lot more supporters than your anonymous comments would suggest!"

Well, thank you for starters. The photos above clearly show our quest towards not only donating to the Salisbury Zoo but also donating time when they needed it.

We have offered donations, (even with all the trouble we had with Jim Rapp) to feed the animals and even join under a Grandparent Membership and they sent all of our money back.

The sad part about this City is the fact that even though we may have our differences, it was all about the animals. It was not, (on my behalf anyway) about Jim Rapp & Joe Albero. It was about what was right for the animals.

This Post clearly shows we have done our part and we only wanted the very best for those animals. When they weren't getting the proper care and we said something about it, we became enemy #1 to Barrie Tilghman, Jim Rapp & Ron Alessi.

It's a shame because the animals are still suffering and I blame it 100% on Barrie Tilghman. I may be out of that Zoo for another year or so but what a shame it is that it continues to fall apart over there and there are fewer animals each week to view and experience.

I Thought These Lights Were Outlawed?

Sorry about the picture quality but I was driving and took a quick shot of something I thought was quite interesting. I thought they outlawed these lights years ago? They used to have them at the Malls and special sale events and so forth but the other night I saw streaks of lights in the sky everywhere and it ended up at PRMC?

Now tell me Ladies & Gentlemen, do these people really need to advertise? Aren't they like those pain in the ass commercials on TV selling you on the idea that you should go in and demand to your Doctor you need a prescription to their product because you know it's right for you, even though you'll have a woodie for 72 straight hours?

Anyhow, PRMC is obviously making WAY too much money and feels the need to bring in business any way they can get it. I get fancy $2.00 a piece brochures all the way here in Delmar from them almost weekly! You know I'm not going to ask the Ambulance to take me there because from what I've read comment wise on my Blog, they'll cut it off before I even get there. Yeppers, take me to Arundel or PG Hospital, I'll be safer there. No disrespect towards PRMC.

Anyhow, does anyone know the new rules about this light and or if PRMC filed a permit to have it there? Remember, Stand Up for your rights. LMAO!

Yeah, I Really Mean It, You Need To Visit This Show

Now all of you know, I'm not one of those Hoity Toity kinda guys. Art, to me, is something done that is as close to a real photo and makes you take double and triple takes to see if it is or not.

However, to so many others, Art has many different meanings and ideas. Tuesday night I attended a Show located at 207 W. Main Street on the Downtown Plaza. This building, (next to the Metropolitan Magazine) is not usually open to the public but today through the 18th, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM the are in fact open and I strongly suggest you pop in and take a look.

Yeah, this is coming from Joe Albero, can you believe it? Seriously though, it's being held by the Cavallaro Visual Foundation (CCART) and they are a Non Profit Organization created in 2000 to provide scholarships and awards to talented Senior High School Students who wish to pursue careers in the Visual Arts at the Institution of their choice.

This Show will help raise funds to fulfill these scholarships and they have done so by raising some $40,000.00 in the past 5 years. So it's a great cause and it can't hurt just stopping in and taking a look around. Hey, look, I did!

There's A New Blog In Town!

GO HERE to visit Totmom's Blog.

Totmom has been a regular to my Blog forever, (LOL) and when I made mention of GA Harrison dropping out of the Blogosphere and the fact that we need some more quality Blogs, she came to the rescue.

Now you all know I don't link to anyone else unless they're really cool and Totmom is just that. So be easy on her as she's just starting out and already has several interesting articles up. No, it's NOT sbynews.com style at all. It's a much easier going Blog but in time I'll bet we'll be seeing some sparks fly.

Enjoy the hits today and don't forget to bookmark her space as I believe you'll truly enjoy what the future will bring us there. I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it.

The Mayor Gets Yet Another Front Page Propaganda Piece In The Daily Times

Now the Mayor is using the Daily Times to combat things that are said right here on Salisbury News.

Yesterday, the Mayor felt it necessary to defend why NO ONE will take the job at the Salisbury Zoo. To me, it sounded as if she's starting to prepare the public that they will soon be losing their AZA Accreditation. Big loss, NOT!

The aging animal inventory, the crappy Zookeeper Staff, the lack of proper management for many, many years. These are just some of the reasons why the Zoo is failing but more importantly the Zoo, (like many other departments within the City) have fallen apart because this Mayor demands to have only Yes Men running things.

The trickle down effect is, FAILURE! Barrie Tilghman gets what she wants but when someone like Jim Rapp comes to her and says, seriously, we need a new roof on this building or the damage will be quite bad in two years and the Mayor flat out says, don't even think about it. Two years later they're coming back with a $36,000,000.00 Master Plan because the place is so screwed up.

Same goes for the SPD. Have YOU seen the multitude of two Officers in one car lately? There's NOT enough Police Cars on the road. Why, because there's NOT enough Police Cars!

There isn't a department out there that Mrs. House Wife hasn't destroyed. How they got their hands on this new Public Works Director is beyond me. My guess is there will be a lot of finger pointing along the way.

Getting back to the article. Paranoia is setting in on Barrie Tilghman where she feels the desperate need to combat anything I say on this Blog. Open your eyes Barrie. The Zoo is the biggest freakin joke in the City right now. Let me explain Folks. IF the Daily Times was doing an investigative article, why didn't they ask when the Red Wolf Exhibit would be complete? Why didn't they ask and tell just why the delays have happened in the first place? I mean, right now, isn't that the bigger topic? They have an interim Director who has filled these shoes numerous times in the past. Why also have they not given Gary Muir any real credit and why didn't the Mayor also speak out about her confidence in this man? Because it's all about propaganda Folks.

The Hazel Family donated more than $250,000.00 for this exhibit to be built and complete and the entire project has been a complete disaster! That's NEWS!

By the way, the front page article was in yesterday's paper.

Fog Delay?

What if I told you that I had to be 2 hours late to work today because of fog? What would you say to an employee that took off two hours from work every morning it was foggy?

My brother-in-law had a parent conference today at 8:30 this morning because his daughter got in trouble in school. He went in to find that the teacher wouldn't be able to attend due to a fog delay. If fog delays are necessary for the safety of kids on school buses....that's one thing. But grown adults? And they get paid! Paid by the taxpayer who MUST go to work in order to pay the taxes which pay Board of Ed. employees to stay home due to fog! My brother-in-law took off from work to show up as required. He lost pay. Granted it was his daughter who got in trouble and it is his responsibility. But not so much as a phone call? The principal was there. Every other person has to be at thier place of employment in order to get paid. BOE employess should be no exception.

Also....the WCBOE did not close the school on Monday, a national holiday in recognition of veterans who have served this nation for generations. But God forbid should they not get enough professional days. Look at the WCBOE web site. There isn't even a mention of Veteran's Day.
