Lost Dog

Help! Our family Dalmatian went running off early Friday morning chasing squirrel and deer like normal, but he hasn't returned. He is about 9 years old, spotted all over with almost completely black ears. He has brown eyes and was wearing a camo collar that did not have tags on it. He is a very loving dog to people of all ages. Our family misses him terribly! Please help us find him. He was last seen in the Fontaine Rd / Millard Long Rd area of Westover, MD. A few pictures are attached.

We can be reached at 443-944-2400 or 410-251-1210.

Thank you!

Who is Fernando Going to Fight?

ESPN's Dan Rafael wrote the following, "Middleweight prospect Fernando Guerrero (18-0, 15 KOs) returns to "ShoBox" on June 25 in Bernalillo, N.M., to face an opponent to be named in the main event, according to Showtime's Hall. Guerrero could face Derrick Findley (16-3, 10 KOs) or Alex Bunema (31-7-2, 17 KOs), either of whom would be a step up from the opponents he has been facing. The intriguing fight on the card is the co-feature, which pits junior welterweight prospect Lanard Lane (12-0, 7 KOs) and Michael Dallas Jr. (14-0, 5 KOs)."

Democrats Have No Plan for Dealing With Fannie And Freddie; Ignore Republican Proposal

House Democrats appear to have no plans for dealing with the failed mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, despite acting on dozens of other matters in the two months since Republicans proposed a way to rescue the two government-sponsored enterprises.

So far, taxpayers have spent $145 billion to keep Fannie and Freddie solvent, and that tab is expected to go much higher.

Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) has introduced a bill that would keep the two failed mortgage companies in government hands for the next two years. After that two-year period, the government would determine if Fannie and Freddie could continue operating as private companies. If they could, they would both be completely privatized and heavily regulated. If they proved to be non-viable, they would be dismantled permanently.

Democrats in the Senate defeated a Republican amendment to the financial regulatory overhaul that was inspired by the Hensarling bill.

Instead of offering their own plan for dealing with Fannie and Freddie, however, Democrats proposed having the Treasury Department conduct a study to figure out what to do with the failed companies. Senate Democrats approved that government study amendment.

Hensarling’s bill, meanwhile, is still languishing in the House – where the Financial Services Committee has yet to schedule a hearing on it. The bill was submitted on March 19.

In the following two months, the House has acted on several less important items, including passing a resolution recognizing May 17-23 as American Craft Beer Week and expressing the nation’s gratitude for the contributions of its specialty beer brewers.

That bill was introduced in the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on April 22 and passed by the House on May 12. The House also acted on a bill to establish May 15 as National Learn to Fly Day. That bill was introduced in the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on April 21 and passed by the House on May 12.

The 'Paygo' Con

Paygo rules notwithstanding, Democrats aren't paying for any of their new entitlement spending.

A day after beating incumbent Arlen Specter in a Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary contest, Rep. Joe Sestak announced that he would make "enforcement of the pay-as-you-go budget rules" a priority if he wins in November. Good luck to him.

Pay-as-you-go, or paygo, rules require that new entitlement spending and new tax cuts must be paid for dollar-for-dollar with entitlement spending cuts or tax increases. As Paul Ryan, the ranking Republican member of the House Budget Committee has noted, the Democrats under Speaker Nancy Pelosi "have violated pay-as-you-go rules by nearly $1 trillion" over the past three years.

And they're not done. In the coming weeks, say Congressional Republicans, we should expect some $300 billion of expenditures that Democrats will declare "emergency spending" and thus do not have to be offset by other spending cuts. The list includes $60 billion for a military supplemental spending bill; $23 billion for education; and $170 billion for jobless and other welfare benefits. All said, the deficit could climb to $1.7 trillion from the current record high $1.4 trillion. "I really can't think of the last time the Democrats paid for anything they want to spend money on," Mr. Ryan grumbles.

The reality is that paygo is designed to stop tax cuts rather than check spending, which is why Democrats will soon return to singing its praises. Before the end of the year, look for Republicans to push for a continuation of the Bush tax cuts. And look for Democrats to insist they must be paid for.

New Arizona Law: Firms Have No Legal Duty To Have Translators

A Glendale optometrist's yearlong legal fight over what services he had to provide for a Spanish-speaking customer has translated into new protections for other businesses.

Gov. Jan Brewer has signed legislation affirming that nothing in state law requires businesses to provide "trained and competent" interpreters when a customer comes in speaking a language other than English.

Assistant Attorney General Michael Walker said that has probably always been the law. But that didn't save John Schrolucke from having to spend time and money defending himself and his practice before Walker's office finally dismissed the case.

Schrolucke told lawmakers the incident stems from a patient who spoke only Spanish. Although she did bring her 12-year-old child with her to the office, he said allowing the child to interpret for the parent would have gotten him into legal trouble.

He said he faced a potential malpractice lawsuit if the child did not properly translate some of the more technical explanations being provided, so he turned the woman away, telling her through her child to come back with someone at least 18 years old.

Schrolucke said he also gave the woman the option of going to one or two other optometrists who speak Spanish.

Instead, he said, the woman filed a discrimination complaint with the Attorney General's Office.

Illegals Coming From Afghanistan, Iran, Egypt, Pakistan, Sudan, Syria, Yemen

Almost nine years after terrorists murdered 2,751 people on Sept. 11, 2001, the U.S. is still facing a major threat as hundreds of illegal aliens from countries known to support and sponsor terrorism sneak across the U.S.-Mexico border.

Thousands of illegal aliens apprehended along the 2,000 mile border stretching through California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas aren't even from Mexico. The U.S. Border Patrol calls them "Other Than Mexicans," or OTMs, and many are citizens of countries that are sponsors of terrorism.

A 2006 congressional report on border threats, titled "A Line in the Sand: Confronting the Threat at the Southwest Border" and prepared by the House Committee on Homeland Security Subcommittee on Investigations, indicated that 1.2 million illegal aliens were apprehended in 2005 alone, and 165,000 of those were from countries other than Mexico. Approximately 650 were from "special interest countries," or nations the Border Patrol defines as "designated by the intelligence community as countries that could export individuals that could bring harm to our country in the way of terrorism."

Atlanta's WSB-TV2 aired a segment on U.S. border security after it obtained records from a federal detention center near Phoenix, Ariz., and found current listings for illegal aliens from Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan and Yemen."We have left the back door to the United States open," former Rep. J.D. Hayworth told the station.

"We have to understand that there are definitely people who mean to do us harm who have crossed that border."

WSB-TV 2 published a population breakdown from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement staging facility in Florence, Ariz., dated April 15, 2010, which includes detainees from as far away as Afghanistan, Armenia, Bosnia, Egypt, Ghana, Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Kenya, Morocco, Pakistan, Sudan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Botswana, Turkey and many other countries.

GOODBYE, EMPLOYER SPONSORED INSURANCE

Millions of American workers could discover that they no longer have employer provided health insurance as ObamaCare is phased in. That's because employers are quickly discovering that it may be cheaper to pay fines to the government than to insure workers, says John C. Goodman, President, CEO and the Kellye Wright Fellow of the National Center for Policy Analysis.

AT&T, Caterpillar, John Deere and Verizon have all made internal calculations, according the House Energy and Commerce Committee, to determine how much could be saved by a) dropping their employer-provided insurance, b) paying a fine of $2,000 per employee, and c) leaving their employees with the option of buying highly-subsidized insurance in the newly created health insurance exchange.

· AT&T, for example, paid $2.4 billion last year to cover medical costs for its 283,000 active employees.

· If the company dropped its health plan and paid an annual penalty for each uninsured worker, the fines would total almost $600 million.

· But that would leave AT&T with a tidy profit of $1.8 billion.

Economists say employee benefits ultimately substitute for cash wages, which means that AT&T employees would get higher take-home pay. But considering that they will be required by federal law to buy their own insurance in an exchange, will they be net winners or losers? That depends on their incomes, says Goodman. (AND THEY WILL PAY TAXES ON THIS HIGHER INCOME)

In Massachusetts, people who get subsidized insurance from an exchange are in health plans that pay providers Medicaid rates plus 10 percent. That's less than what Medicare pays, and a lot less than the rates paid by private plans. Since the state did nothing to expand the number of doctors as it cut its uninsured rate in half, people in plans with low reimbursement rates are being pushed to the rear of the waiting lines, says Goodman.

The Massachusetts experience will only be amplified in other parts of the country:

· The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates there will be 32 million newly insured under ObamaCare.

· Studies by think tanks like Rand and the Urban Institute show that insured people consume twice as much health care as the uninsured.

· So all other things being equal, 32 million people will suddenly be doubling their use of health care resources.

· In a state such as Texas, where one out of every four working age adults is currently uninsured, the rationing problem will be monumental.

Ultimately, we could see a complete restructuring of American industry, with firms dissolving and emerging based on government subsidies, says Goodman.

TROOPERS CHARGE PAIR WITH CDS POSSESSION

On May 23, 2010 at 0310 hours, Troopers from the Salisbury Barrack of the Maryland State Police stopped a Chevy Blazer traveling north bound in the south bound lane of the Salisbury Bypass that almost collided with several oncoming vehicles. Skinheads Attack Slovakia Gay Rights Parade

Several dozen skinheads attacked gay rights supporters Saturday, wounding at least two people and forcing the cancellation of parade through the centre of the Slovak capital, media reported.

Around 1,000 people had gathered in the centre of Bratislava for the Rainbow Pride parade when some 80 skinheads began to hurl stones and smokebombs at the participants, despite a large police presence.

Austrian Euro-MP Ulrike Lunacek was hit by a rock, but not injured, according the CTK news agency.

Eight people were detained by police, which asked organisers to cancel the parade.

The police "were clearly unprepared to face such a situation, despite our warnings," one of the organisers Roman Kollarik, told CTK.

"A bunch of morons who use violence, thwarted our event. We are very sad and disappointed," said Rainbow Pride spokeswoman Romana Schlesingerova.

Gay pride parades still face strong opposition in some eastern European countries.
