Shorebirds 4, Lakewood 7

The Shorebirds came back from a 2 run deficit from the 2nd inning with a big 3 run 8th with a Tyler Henson providing a two run RBI. Lakewood struck back even harder with a Joel Naughton two run single to put the BlueClaws up 4-3. David Cash followed right back with a RBI single in the bottom of the 9th to tie it up.

Dominic Brown drove in 2 runs in the 11th with a double to dead center. Brown then scored on a Michael Durant Single.

Final Score, 7-4 Lakewood. Delmarva won the series 2-1 and is now 4-4 for the season.

Delmarva plays Hagerstown tommorrow night at 7:05.

Feldman's Under Contract For 1/2 Of His Property

While the Feldman's building has been up for sale for several months now, they have sold the old portion of the structure but not the old Ethan Allen portion, which is newer.

I'm told someone from Cambridge or Annapolis has a contract on it and was supposed to close on it last Thursday but there were some unknown complications. However, they still expect the deal to go through very soon. I'm also told the new owner wants to keep it an Antique Mall.

Don't quote me on this but I was told he sold the old sections for around $450,000.00.

Captain Investment Back On The P&Z Agenda!

If you'll recall, the last time we posted something on this group we packed the house and at the last second the Developer backed out and they're back on the agenda once again. Of course they make it difficult for people to attend, being that it's scheduled for 2:00 in the afternoon but I believe there will be a similar crowd once again.

The Daily Times Fails You Again

While the Daily Times drafted TWO articles in the past two days about how they served alcohol to a minor, they still purposely missed the mark, the biggest point of the story.

I sat back yesterday and waited with anticipation of their bigger and better article today and just as I suspected, it was there. Here's what they missed though. THERE'S NO ACCOUNTABILITY!

I'll NEVER forget Councilwoman Stevie Prettyman bringing this up, FACE to FACE with the heads of the Liquor Board, (not afraid to tell it like it is) and stating, when the Dispensary was caught, NOTHING happened to them! No Fines, No Suspension, NOTHING! There is NO accountability!

How convenient of the Daily Times to have missed that statement. It's no wonder Joe "G" is gone. He missed the mark on this article like he missed the mark on so many others. Oh, this makes me a naysayer, right? I disagree with him being a professional and tell the entire story, after all, that's what we pay them for, right?

If you're a Bar, Restaurant or Convenience Store and you sell to a minor, you could be fined, suspended and or even lose your license completely. Ron Alessi is enjoying yet another branch of Government that has no accountability whatsoever! You see, at the Zoo when animals die by the hundreds per year, no one gives a sh!t because they're not accountable by telling you how many died each year. In the Liquor Dispensary, they're not accountable either and Alessi is involved in both.

Alessi needs a swift kick in the ass out of City/County relations and retire, just like we suggested Bill Duvall do long ago. Things will go further down hill, like they have with Duvall, the Zoo and now the Liquor Dispensary. Very poor job there Joe "G."

Exclusive: Shooting In Salisbury Last Night!

Around midnight there was a shooting outside the Marriott Courtyard in Salisbury - behind the MSP barracks. There was a large, unruly crowd and somebody threw something at an ambulance. Salisbury Police are handling it. More to come......

AMSA Beach Clean-up April 26th

Assateague Island is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. To think that it's right in our backyard blows me away. Many of us go there to drive on the beach time after time, every season. We lay on the beach, fire up the grills, fish, swim in the water, and take for granted that it will always be there for us. But what about for our kids.......and their kids.

Every year the Assateague Mobile Sportsmans Assoc. (AMSA) holds an AMSA Beach Clean-Up Event on Assateague Island during which volunteers gather on the beach and conduct a massive clean-up effort. This results in the removal of hundreds or even thousands of pounds of debris from the beach. This debris washes up on the beach during the winter or is left behind by those who refuse to tread lightly on that which many of us have chosen to make a large part of our families lives.

On April 26, 2008, AMSA will again host this annual event. Volunteers are asked to meet at the tire inflation area on Assateague Island (National Park) at 9:00 a.m. The event should last until about 1:00 p.m. Hot dogs and other refreshments will be provided to volunteers by AMSA. On another note, but definitely relative to this post, is that in previous years, a clean-up volunteer only needed to display a cardboard sign stating "Beach Clean-Up" in the windshield of his/her 4x4, and the requirement for a beach permit would be waived for that day. This year the U.S. National Park Service has elected not to extend that courtesy to the volunteers. This makes it difficult for anyone to volunteer and take their 4x4 onto the beach that day if the fee for the permit is not in their budget at that time. It would seem as though some bureaucrat isn't thinking clearly on this matter. We should all, to the extent possible, call the Maryland District Visitor Information Center @ 410-641-1441 and Ranger Station @ 410-641-3030 and express to them how counter productive this decision really is.

I am not an AMSA member and I have not been to Assateague Island in quite a few years. But I would like to extend my thanks to the AMSA and all other volunteers for undertaking this most worthwhile effort. If more of us took the time to give back to our communities, the world would be a better place.

What Shorebird Baseball is All About!

It's a wonderful thing to have seen all the families out to celebrate not only the learning achievements of the kids, but to celebrate being a family. I saw parents and students hand in hand smiling, kids on their dad's shoulders, and a few being a bit shy being on center stage. Simply put the smiles on everyone's faces, both children and adults alike, makes this so worth while. All the kids were so excited and were running around playing together before the parade. They felt like celebrities with everyone cheering them on, getting their pictures taken, Shorebirds giving high fives them as they went along, and just being on the field. The procession along the infield warning track zigzagged along all around the track and into the stands. It was massive and the GM Chris Bitters loved seeing everyone participate!

The Shorebirds did an amazing job talking and giving autographs to all the fans during the pregame. And again the smiles and joy that these kids received were priceless. As I'm sitting in the press box I see all the kids playing on Sherman's walk jubilant and having a blast. It's a great sight to see and such a great atmosphere to bring your family, a date, or friends to!

Even Tippy Martinez was out signing autographs tonight!

Humane Society Cause For Paws Fundraiser

Wicomico County Humane Society's "Cause for Paws" fundraiser was held Sat, April 12, 2008. It is heart warming to see such great support from the community. The unofficial count for this event raised over $11,000. Let's keep up this generous support for the homeless animals of our community! As one of the business sponsor's for this event I would like to personally thank each and every walker, volunteer worker, and other businesses that helped make this event such a huge success.
