Not-So-Shocking Poll: Americans Hate The Government Almost As Much As They Hate Big Pharma

In a new and not shocking poll, Americans said they hate the government almost as much as they hate big pharma. Considering both are in each other’s back pocket, that makes complete sense and no one should be surprised by this.

America hates big pharma and the government. No surprise there. But the pharmaceutical industry is hated slightly more. It ranked last in favorability among Americans, according to a new poll conducted by Gallup. This year marked the lowest net positivity rating (the difference between people who say they like the industry and those who dislike the industry) that the pharmaceutical industry has had since Gallup started polling in 2001.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s Dad Says She Lied About Her Residency and Civil Rights Activist Associate Claims She Lied about His Sexual Abuse!

We know that Representative Rashida Tlaib from Michigan was accused by her own father of committing residency fraud so she could run for office in the district she currently serves.

A deeper dive into her past shows that she worked with a man who for years was accused of massive sexual abuse and who still is a leader of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

We reported in July that Representative Tlaib’s father accused his ‘daughter of the year’ Rashida of lying and reporting that she lived in her father’s home in order to run for office in his district –

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Backs Trump’s Assertion That He Fired Bolton

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is backing up President Donald Trump’s assertion that he fired neoconservative National Security Adviser John Bolton.

Bolton has been texting reporters and tweeting that he didn’t get fired, but quit.

During a press briefing with Secretary of Treasury Steve Mnuchin roughly an hour after the staff shakeup was announced, Pompeo was asked by ABC News’ Terry Moran, “did John Bolton get fired or did he quit? And did he leave the White House because he disagreed with you in particular over the talks with the Taliban?”

Pompeo responded that “last night the president asked for Ambassador Bolton’s resignation, as I understand it it was received this morning.”

The Costs & Consequences Of $15/Hour

In 2016, I first touched on the impacts of hiking the minimum wage.
“What’s the big ‘hub-bub’ over raising the minimum wage to $15/hr? After all, the last time the minimum wage was raised was in 2009.

According to the April 2015, BLS report the numbers were quite underwhelming:

‘In 2014, 77.2 million workers age 16 and older in the United States were paid at hourly rates, representing 58.7 percent of all wage and salary workers. Among those paid by the hour, 1.3 million earned exactly the prevailing federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. About 1.7 million had wages below the federal minimum.

Together, these 3.0 million workers with wages at or below the federal minimum made up 3.9 percent of all hourly-paid workers. Of those 3 million workers, who were at or below the Federal minimum wage, 48.2% of that group were aged 16-24. Most importantly, the percentage of hourly paid workers earning the prevailing federal minimum wage or less declined from 4.3% in 2013 to 3.9% in 2014 and remains well below the 13.4% in 1979.'”
Hmm…3 million workers at minimum wage with roughly half aged 16-24. Where would that group of individuals most likely be found?

Taliban warns U.S. "will soon regret" abandoning peace talks

Kabul, Afghanistan — It was just after midnight on the morning of September 11 in Kabul when the sound of an explosion echoed across the capital. A couple of phone calls confirmed that a rocket had blown up inside the compound of the U.S. Embassy. Mercifully no one was hurt.

It was the first incident since President Trump abruptly announced that the U.S. peace talks with the Taliban were off.

"They're dead. They're dead," Mr. Trump wrote. "As far as I'm concerned they're dead."

Son of 9/11 victim slams Ilhan Omar at NYC remembrance event: 'Show respect in honoring them'

While speaking at a 9/11 memorial event in New York City, Nicholas Haros Jr. called out Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar for her comments about the terrorist attacks which caused controversy for her.

In April, video showed the Minnesota Democratic saying the Sept. 11 attacks were "some people who did something" while speaking at an event supporting the Council for American-Islamic Relations.

Haros said there should be no confusion on who attacked the United States and killed almost 3,000 people.

"I am here today to honor my 76-year-old mother, Frances, on the solemn 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Mom, we always miss you and love you very much," he said. "This day I also remember over 200 personal friends and co-workers that I knew that died."

Rand Paul: Trump Firing John Bolton Was ‘Necessary’

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Tuesday praised President Donald Trump for firing National Security Advisor John Bolton, saying the move was a “necessary action.”

“I commend @realDonaldTrump for this necessary action. The President has great instincts on foreign policy and ending our endless wars. He should be served by those who share those views,” Paul wrote on Twitter.

Earlier Tuesday, President Trump announced that he had fired Bolton and plans to name a successor next week.

“I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House,” the president tweeted. “I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the administration, and therefore I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning.

Leftists Using Secretive Arabella Advisors to Push Government Control of the Internet

A largely unknown, massively funded strategy company pushing the interests of wealthy leftist donors has been quietly funding successful efforts to ensure the federal government’s role in control of the internet.

The secretive Arabella Advisors is a centralized hub that runs nonprofit arms that in turn have spawned a nexus of hundreds of front organizations outwardly designed to appear grassroots but actually working against ordinary people by expanding government control in the lives of Americans.

Arabella’s vast network was unmasked in an extensive exposé by conservative watchdog Capital Research Center, which documents the shadowy system developed by, housed in and staffed by the for-profit, privately held Arabella Advisors.

The Arabella firm in turn manages four nonprofits: the New Venture Fund, Sixteen Thirty Fund, Windward Fund, and Hopewell Fund. These nonprofit entities play host to hundreds of groups and projects that promote interests and political movements strategically deployed in a long-term campaign to nudge the country to the left.

Arabella’s New Venture and Sixteen Thirty funds worked together to spawn another arm calling itself the Media Democracy Fund, which has been working to push so-called “net neutrality” rules that would involve more government control of the Internet, Capital Research’s report documents.

Former top FEMA official busted for taking bribes after Hurricane Maria

A former top official in the Federal Emergency Management Agency was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly taking bribes from the head of a company who received $1.8 billion in federal contracts to repair Puerto Rico’s power grid after Hurricane Maria devastated the island in 2017.

Ahsha Tribble, a deputy regional administrator, another former FEMA official, Jovanda Patterson, and Donald Keith Ellison, the former president of COBRA Acquisitions, were charged in a 15-count indictment.

Patterson, Tribble’s deputy chief of staff, steered contracts to COBRA and left FEMA in July 2018 for a job at the energy company, the court documents say.

“These defendants were supposed to come to Puerto Rico to help during the recovery after the devastation suffered from Hurricane Maria. Instead, they decided to take advantage of the precarious conditions of our electric power grid and engaged in a bribery and honest services wire fraud scheme in order to enrich themselves illegally,” Rosa Emilia Rodríguez-Vélez, the US attorney in Puerto Rico, said in a statement.

Nearly 500 Illegal Aliens Have Been Released From North Carolina Jails, Despite ICE Detainers

Detention centers across North Carolina have released hundreds of illegal aliens in their custody, defying detainer requests made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Local authorities in North Carolina have released nearly 500 undocumented immigrants in the past 10 months. A total of 489 detainers were ignored by the state law enforcement officials, according to data provided by ICE. The ten months cover the duration of the 2019 fiscal year, which began in October of last year and ends this September.

Details of the ignored detainer requests were first reported by WBTV.

“The level of criminal aliens intentionally released into Mecklenburg and the surrounding counties is alarming, but even worse is that the true extent of this dangerous trend may never be fully realized,” a senior Homeland Security official said in a statement provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation. “If an illegal alien is arrested for a crime and is then released by local law enforcement without ever alerting ICE officials, a lifted detainer will never be registered in our systems and the alien may only come to our attention once it’s too late.”

As The NFL Season Begins, The Social Decay In NFL Cities Is Worse Than Ever Profile picture for user Tyler Durden by Tyler Durden

This year America is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the NFL. Every week, millions of us will gather around our televisions to watch extremely well paid young men throw a football around. I love football myself, and I am hoping for a really good season. But while these highly paid teams are playing in some of the most beautiful sports stadiums in the entire world, the cities that they represent are rapidly falling apart all around them. From coast to coast, major U.S. cities are rapidly being transformed into rotting, decaying hellholes, and it is getting worse with each passing year.

Let’s start by looking at Baltimore. On Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens absolutely crushed the Miami Dolphins 59-10, and Lamar Jackson looks poised to have an absolutely fabulous season.

But meanwhile, the city of Baltimore itself is a drug-infested nightmare that could potentially set a new all-time record for homicides in 2019. President Trump recently made national headlines for calling it a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess”, and it is being reported that he will actually visit the city on Thursday…

New York Times remembers 9/11 as the day airplanes became sentient and killed 2,000

It is not even noon yet on the East Coast, and the New York Times has taken first place already for the worst take on the 18th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks:

I count at least two problems in this since-deleted tweet. First, there is no mention of who carried out the 9/11 attacks or what motivated them. That is like writing a headline memorializing the Aug. 3 El Paso, Texas, mass shooting and not once mentioning that there was a white nationalist gunman involved.

Second, and I hate to be the one to say this, airplanes lack agency. They did not take aim or crash themselves. The terrorists flying them did.

Berlin Man Convicted in Child Rape Case

SNOW HILL — A Berlin man was convicted this week on two counts of second-degree rape on a child after an investigation into incidents over a two-year period and now awaits his fate pending the outcome of a pre-sentence investigation.

On Wednesday, a Worcester County Circuit Court judge found Keith Mariani, 61, of Berlin, guilty of two counts of second-degree rape for the sexual abuse of a child at his home over a two-year period beginning in 2017. Prior to trial, the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office filed notice the state would be seeking an increased maximum penalty of life in prison with a minimum mandatory sentence of 15 years without parole on each count. Sentencing was deferred by the court on Wednesday pending a pre-sentence investigation.

The charges stem from a complaint of child sexual abuse received by the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office in February. The Worcester County Child Advocacy Center, or Cricket Center, along with Child Protective Services began a joint investigation that revealed from 2017 through February 2019, Mariani had repeatedly sexually abused a child at his home in Berlin.

Justice coming for Rand Paul, thanks to Sixth Circuit Court

I was among many people shocked and outraged by the lenient sentence — 30 days! — handed down to Rand Paul's next-door neighbor, Rene Boucher, by U.S. District Court judge Marianne Battani, "a special judge called in from Michigan."

Recall that Senator Paul was gravely injured by Boucher, requiring hospitalization several times, and now, two years after the incident, he had to be hospitalized again to have part of his lung removed. In addition, he has suffered extreme pain for an extended period.

Judge Battani was appointed to the federal bench by Bill Clinton.

25 Times ‘The Atlantic’ Used Single Anonymous Sources to Smear Trump Family

A new article from The Atlantic, titled Ivanka Trump’s Fight for the Trump Dynasty, used single anonymous sources at least twenty-five times to smear the Trump family.

McKay Coppins, a staff writer for The Atlantic and the author of the piece, described certain instances regarding members of the Trump family and would follow it up with an unknown source known sometimes in the work as a “former aide” or a “former White House official.”

Other examples throughout the piece were even more vague, as Coppins said things like “people close to the candidate” and “people close to the family.”

A few excerpts from the piece, provided here, show examples of Coppins’ use of anonymous sources.

Survey Redesigns Make Comparisons to Years Before 2017 Difficult

The U.S. median household income was $63,179 in 2018, not statistically different than the previous year, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics released today.

At first glance, it would appear that median income was higher than every year prior to 2017, surpassing the median income for 2007 ($60,985 in 2018 dollars) and 1999 ($61,526 in 2018 dollars).

In 2017, the median income was $62,626, not statistically different from 2018. So, making comparisons prior to 2017 requires caution, since recent estimates reflect changes implemented to the survey.

The 2018 income, poverty and health insurance statistics released today come from the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement, known as CPS ASEC.

A NRA Member Makes Some Humble Suggestions on Gun Control

Few things exist on which there is more BS spoken than gun control.

It's highly unlikely, indeed almost impossible, that confiscating weapons like AR-15s or similar will do anything at all to combat killings, mass or otherwise, in the USA or anywhere else for that matter. People who are crazy enough to want to mass murder will, unfortunately, find a way.

You only have to look to Paris, where personal gun ownership is virtually illegal for private citizens and multiple dozens of people were murdered by jihadis at the Bataclan Theater and across the city, or Chicago, another supposedly gun-free zone, relatively anyway, where five were murdered and at least 29 wounded over the last weekend alone, for corroboration.

Trump Slams Obama: I'm Supposed To Be President Of The USA, Not President Of The World

On Monday night, President Trump, speaking at a rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina, took a shot at his predecessor and elicited a roar from the crowd by asserting, "You finally have a president who understands that I’m not supposed to be president of the world; I’m supposed to be president of the United States of America." He stated, "Obama is more popular in Germany than Trump. He's got to be. I'm making people pay their bills. The day I'm more popular than him, I'm not doing my job. They like him more in Europe than they like Trump. I think they should," according to The Daily Mail.

Noting that the event had to be moved from Fayetteville Regional Airport to the Crown Expo Center to accommodate the larger crowd and because rain had been predicted, Trump joked, "I was even willing to stand out in the rain and get my hair soaking wet but they said it was a little bit out of your district. But I was willing to do it. I would’ve taken it. I would’ve been very proud to have done it. It would have shown it’s my real hair at least. It’s my hair. May not be great, but I will say it’s better than most of my friends' who are the same age. A lot better."

Trump spoke of the 2020 election, saying, "You must never forget that the 2020 election is about one thing. You. It's true. It's not about me. It's about you. It's about your family, your future, and the fate of your country … A vote for any Democrat in 2020 and a vote for any Democrat tomorrow in North Carolina is a vote for the rise of radical socialism and the destruction of the American dream. We are entering this campaign with the best record, the best results, the best agenda."

What is dengue, and why is it so widespread this year?

Dubbed "breakbone fever", dengue is one of the world's leading mosquito-borne illnesses and infects tens of millions across the globe annually.

Around half of the planet's population live in at-risk areas, mainly in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

So what is dengue, how does it spread, and how can it be contained?

Dengue is transmitted mainly by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which thrives in densely-populated tropical climates and breed in stagnant pools of water.

The mosquitoes pick up the virus from infected humans -- even asymptomatic ones -- and pass it along to other people through bites.

A massive boom in international travel and trade has expanded dengue's footprint, allowing the virus to be carried across the globe in a matter of hours and unleashed in new communities.

Its grim nickname comes from the disease's intense flu-like symptoms: severe headache, pain behind the eyes, full-body aches, high fever, nausea, vomiting, swollen glands or rash.

Court Slams Clinton Email Cover-Up

Judicial Watch just released the transcript of a major court hearing (held last week) in which U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth granted significant new discovery to us on the Clinton email issue (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:14-cv-01242)).

During the hearing, Judge Lamberth specifically raised concerns about a Clinton email cache recently discussed in a letter to Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) and wants us to “shake this tree” on this issue.

"[J]ust last week, the Senate’s – Senate Finance and Homeland Security Committees released documents revealing that Clinton IT aide Paul Combetta copied all but four of the missing emails to a Gmail account that does not appear to have ever been reconstructed and searched. The court thinks Judicial Watch ought to shake this tree."

Judge Lamberth also criticized the State Department’s handling and production of Clinton’s emails in this case stating, “There is no FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] exemption for political expedience, nor is there one for bureaucratic incompetence.”

In the beginning of their oral arguments, lawyers for the State Department wrongfully stated that we could no longer continue their discovery. The judge stopped their arguments stone cold:

Looks like CNN has botched another major Russia 'scoop'

It looks like CNN has bungled another Russia scoop. Shocking, I know.

The network claimed Monday that the U.S. government “extracted [a] top spy from inside Russia in 2017,” a decision that CNN alleges was driven “in part, by concerns that President Donald Trump and his administration repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy.”

CNN's reporting stresses the extraction took place in 2017 shortly after the president “discussed highly classified intelligence with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and then-Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak. The intelligence, concerning ISIS in Syria, had been provided by Israel.” The network alleges further that "the removal happened at a time of wide concern in the intelligence community about mishandling of intelligence by Trump and his administration.”

However, this year's Harvest Moon is unlike most in that it will coincide with Friday the 13th. This rarity hasn't happened since a full moon appeared on October 13, 2000.

"While we are committed to continuing to provide the city with unprecedented state support, the people of Baltimore City want and deserve results from their own city leaders," he wrote.
