Jihadi Work Accident: 14 ISIS Fighters Killed When Rocket They Were Filling With Chlorine Explodes Prematurely…

At least 14 members of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group were killed Tuesday near Baghdad when a rocket whose warhead they were filling with chlorine gas exploded.

Iraqi security officials said seven more IS militants were injured in the incident, which occurred near the town of al-Dhuluiya, about 90 km north of Baghdad.

Al-Dhuluiya was also where four members of the Iraqi security forces and Shiite militiamen suffered symptoms of asphyxiation after inhaling chlorine gas released by two improvised explosive devices.

Can Republicans Win in a Post-Family America?

For the first time in American statistical history, the majority of American adults are single. 124 million or 50.2% of Americans are single. Some will get married, but increasing numbers never will.

Demographically a population of single adults means the death of the Republican Party. It eliminates the possibility of libertarian and fiscally conservative policies. It leads inevitably to the welfare state.

Single people are less likely to have a support system that keeps them from becoming a public charge. Children born to single parents perform poorly in school and are more likely to engage in criminal behavior. A nation of single people will inevitably become a welfare state and a police state.

The statistics have always been known and the conclusions to be drawn from them are inescapable.

A lot of attention is being paid to the political consequences of the nation’s changing racial demographics, but it’s not a coincidence that the racial group that Republicans perform worst with is also the least likely to be married. While there are other factors in the mix, Republicans do better with married than unmarried black people.

The same is true of most other racial groups.

Ebola Expert: Illegal Immigrant Children Could Spread Ebola, TB

According to an Ebola expert, the porous U.S.-Mexico border is creating issues that could lead to widespread contraction of Ebola, tuberculosis and a mystery respiratory disease.

Dr. Jane Orient, the executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, told Laura Ingraham’s radio show Wednesday that children who have crossed the border and are now in American schools, could spread the trio of viruses as the illegal children may not have been screened or quarantined thoroughly.

According to Orient, the current situation America faces is a “public health nightmare” and that almost all cases of tuberculosis in America are brought to the country via “foreign born individuals.”

The injustice of Eric Holder

Average Americans aren’t blind to the Justice Department’s politicization

Even we were shocked when we researched our new book, “Obama’s Enforcer: Eric Holder’s Justice Department,” at the extent to which Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. has politicized the Justice Department and put the interests of left-wing ideology and his political party ahead of the fair and impartial administration of justice. However, there is no doubt that the American public has also recognized just how politically corrupt Mr. Holder is, given this month’s very embarrassing poll conducted by Hart Research for NBC News and The Wall Street Journal.

The poll asked respondents their opinions about 10 different national political officials, ranging from Bill Clinton to President Obama to Eric Holder, as well as the Democratic and Republican parties. They were given choices of very positive, somewhat positive, neutral, somewhat negative, very negative and “don’t know the name.” About a third of respondents didn’t know who Mr. Holder is (37 percent). However, those Americans who knew Mr. Holder gave him the second-lowest “positive” rating of anyone or any organization on the survey at a mere 15 percent. Only Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio had a lower “positive” rating than Mr. Holder. The attorney general’s “positive” rating was less than half of the positive rating of the Republican Party and 27 points behind that of his boss, Mr. Obama, who was rated favorably by only 42 percent of respondents.

Difference Between How Trey Gowdy and Elijah Cummings Recite the Benghazi Victims’ Names at Wednesday’s Hearing?

The Select Committee on Benghazi held its first public hearing on Wednesday, which gave members of both parties a chance to recall the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and remember the four Americans who died as a result.
But some members had more trouble than others remembering the names of the victims. Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) called on everyone to remember the names of the four Americans who died.
“Their names must be etched in our memory banks,” Cummings said. “Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty.”
But he had to look down as his prepared remarks before reading out each name

Breaking News: Congress Approves Mission To Train, Arm Syrian Rebels

WASHINGTON – The Senate gave final approval on Thursday to President Obama’s plan to train and arm Syrian rebels, endorsing a key plank of the president's strategy for taking on the Islamic State.

The Senate, in a 78-22 vote, authorized the mission as part of a must-pass, stopgap spending bill to keep government agencies operating into December.

The House passed a similar measure on Wednesday 273-156, with Republicans backing the president’s measure by more than a 2-1 margin.

The leaders of both parties stood with Obama despite questions they had about his plan to arm moderate rebel groups and warnings that the plan could backfire or not be strong enough to make much of a difference as Islamic States forces try to advance in the country.

Denmark: Welfare Cost of 'Non-Westerners' up £200 Million. Benefits for Natives Down

Danish current-affairs magazineMandagMorgen has published a report on welfare and benefits which reveals that while the cost of supporting immigrants and their descendents has exploded, the cost of keeping native Danes is falling.

The magazine, which is a publication of one of Scandinavia's leading think-tanks differentiates between “immigrants and descendants from non-Western countries” and ethnic Danes in its report. The revelation that the cost of welfare for the immigrants has increased by two billion kronor (over £200 million) since 2010 has prompted a bout of soul-searching amongst the leaders of Denmark’s Social Liberal pro-immigration party, who are presently part of the ruling coalition.

Denmark has experienced a sudden rush of immigration from these non-Western groups in past decades, and over one-in-ten Danes is now an immigrant or the descendant of one. Two thirds of immigrants, some 400,000, are non-Western, with Somalis, Turks, and Iraqis forming large, visible groups.

Emails show 'collusion' between EPA, environmental lobby

Report uses open records laws to force transparency on secretive agency

The EPA and environmental groups are exceptionally close for a government agency and lobby groups, with a revolving door and pressure from the groups often shaping EPA’s policies, according to a new report from a conservative watchdog group based on emails obtained in a yearslong battle with the agency.

The report, which details what the Energy & Environment Legal Institute terms “collusion” between the Environmental Protection Agency and eco-friendly groups, is also a study in the way E&E used open records laws to force transparency on a secretive agency.

State Dept. Whistleblower Sued in Retaliation by John Kerry — and the Case Could Reveal Sordid Accusations of Department Misconduct

Richard “Rick” Higbie has spent more than a month under a barrage of financial attacks by the Northern District of Texas U.S. attorney’s office under the direction of the State Department. The attacks are an attempt to silence the government agent and they originate from the very people he has sworn an oath to protect.

Higbie is a distinguished 16-year veteran of the Diplomatic Security Services, the arm of the State Department that investigates crimes and provides protection to diplomats overseas.

But he has been battling his employers almost his entire career, starting when his then-infant daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder and his supervisors suggested he quit his job.

Higbie said his government employers claimed that his child’s illness created a situation where he could not work overseas as a foreign service officer. When he fought back with a discrimination lawsuit, he began to feel the full force of the State Department coming down on him. The message: Don’t cross us.

Christie Event Raises More Than $400,000 To Help Hogan’s Bid For Governor, GOP Says

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) helped raise more than $400,000 Wednesday to aid the Maryland gubernatorial bid of Republican Larry Hogan, according to organizers of a lunchtime fundraiser in Bethesda.

Christie, chairman of the Republican Governors Association and a potential 2016 presidential candidate, told Hogan supporters that he believes a Republican can win in Maryland, despite the strong advantage Democrats have in voter registration, according to excerpts of his remarks provided by the Hogan campaign.

“I am here because there are dozens of pundits and supposedly smart people in this state who are going to tell you over the next 48 days that Larry can’t win,” Christie said. “And I am here to tell you that if that were true then we wouldn’t have a two-term Republican governor in New Jersey either.”

Doctor Admits Profiting by Giving Patients Unneeded Chemo

A Detroit-area cancer doctor accused of putting people through unnecessary treatments and then billing insurers for millions of dollars pleaded guilty to fraud Tuesday, admitting that he knew his patients often didn't need chemotherapy.

Dr. Farid Fata pleaded guilty to 16 charges, including money laundering and conspiracy, without the benefit of a plea deal with prosecutors. U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade said she would not negotiate such a "shocking" case and will seek a sentence of life in prison.
"We weren't interested in bargaining anything away," McQuade said.

"His conduct was so egregious," she told The Associated Press on the courthouse steps.

"It wasn't a matter of stealing money but torturing patients by lying to them about having cancer. ... Chemotherapy is poison intended to kill cancer cells."

Beltway Poll: Race divides D.C. area's opinion on Rice

WASHINGTON -- African American residents of the greater D.C. area are more likely to think Ray Rice's punishment for knocking out his then-fiance last year was too harsh, compared to white respondents, a new survey shows.

Video released last week shows the Ravens running back punching his then-fiance and knocking her unconscious inside a hotel elevator. Following the video's release, the Ravens cancelled Rice's contract and the National Football League announced he was suspended indefinitely.

Some 46 percent of African Americans who participated in the WTOP Beltway Poll say the NFL's treatment of Rice was too harsh, compared to 25 percent of whites who said the same. On the other hand, 32 percent of whites said the punishment was too light, compared to 16 percent of black respondents who said the same.

Hillary Clinton Bombshell: Whistle Blower Tells Investigators That State Department Shredded Benghazi Records

Democratic Presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, who oversaw the State Department during the Benghazi attacks that led to the deaths of four Americans, may soon face Federal charges for tampering with and destroying evidence.

According to retired State Department whistle blower Raymond Maxwell, he caught Clinton’s Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff shredding documents in a State Department basement. When he asked the aids, who worked directly for then-Secretary Clinton, what they were doing he says they were told to remove any documents that could be politically damaging. The remaining documents were then turned over to an independent committee that was investigating the attacks.

Though Bill and Hillary Clinton have survived many a scandal, it seems that this one may be quite serious considering her direct subordinates were ordered to destroy, shred and/or remove key documents that could prove damaging to the Obama Administration or Clinton’s Presidential aspirations.

If Maxwell’s claims can be proven or verified by other witnesses or participants Clinton could potentially face federal charges for tampering with evidence and destruction of official documents.

Somerset County District Court Visited by Maryland’s Chief Judge

(PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – ) Maryland Court of Appeals Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera came to Princess Anne on Tuesday, Sept. 16, to visit the District Court for Somerset County. Judge Paula A. Price greeted Chief Judge Barbera when she arrived yesterday afternoon to tour the location and meet with employees.

“It is impressive that Chief Judge Barbera has visited each court facility in the state, and I was honored to meet with her and welcome her to our part of the world,” Judge Price said. “We have a wonderful group of professionals here who serve our community. Chief Judge Barbera’s visit affirms that she understands that each of us is vitally important to the overall mission of the Judiciary. I was pleased to be able to introduce her to the people whose dedication and efforts make it possible for me to focus my efforts on the cases that come before me and the administration of justice.”

County Clerk Connie Tyler said, “We all got to meet Chief Judge Barbera personally, which was a delightful surprise. She asked thoughtful questions and was truly interested in how we, as a small office, work together as a team to provide the full range of services that we do. It was a very exciting day. I do not know the last time we were visited by the state’s chief judge.”

After her tour of the Princess Anne location, Chief Judge Barbera said, “Today, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet with Judge Price as a colleague on the bench, and to thank her and the talented staff here at the Somerset County District Court for their hard work and dedication.”

Chief Judge Barbera was appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley in July 2013 to lead the Maryland Judiciary. Since then, Chief Judge Barbera has made it a priority to visit and learn about each of the State’s Circuit and District Courts.

What Would Braveheart Do?

No matter how the vote turns out on Thursday in Scotland, either for independence or continued union with Britain, the disintegration of the Old Continent appears almost inevitable.

Already the British government has conceded that, even if the Scots vote for union, Edinburgh will receive greater powers to rule itself.

Cheering for the breakup of the U.K. are Catalans and Basques, Bretons and Corsicans, Tyroleans, Venetians, Flemish, all dreaming of nations of their own carved out of Spain, France, Italy and Belgium.

Europe's secessionists have waxed ever stronger since the last decade of the 20th century when the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia splintered into 22 nations and Czechoslovakia broke in two.

Abkhazians and Ossetians then broke from Georgia as Transnistria fought free of Moldova. Chechnya went to war twice to escape from Russia. Secessionists now battle Russia in Ingushetsia and Dagestan.

The decomposition of the nations of Old Europe is the triumph of tribalism over transnationalism. The heart has reasons that the mind knows not, said Pascal. And the wild heart is winning.

The call of blood, history, faith, culture and memory is winning the struggle against Economism, the Western materialist ideology that holds that the desire for money and things is what ultimately motivates mankind.

Economics uber alles. Here is Niall Ferguson in the New York Times wondering how these crazy Scots could think of seceding from England.

The swimmer, a 49-year-old male from Rosedale, MD, was treated on scene and transported by Ocean City EMS to Atlantic General Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. “Today is a sad day for the entire Ocean City community,” said Director of Emergency Services, Joe Theobald.  “Throughout the day, our SRT’s were educating the public about the rough surf and dangerous rip currents. Our emergency personnel did an extraordinary job and had they not responded as quickly and professionally as they did, today could have been much worse.”

The War on Poverty Has Been a Colossal Flop

Today, the U.S. Census Bureau will release its annual report on poverty. This report is noteworthy because this year marks the 50th anniversary of President Lyndon Johnson’s launch of the War on Poverty. Liberals claim that the War on Poverty has failed because we didn’t spend enough money. Their answer is just to spend more. But the facts show otherwise.

Since its beginning, U.S. taxpayers have spent $22 trillion on Johnson’s War on Poverty (in constant 2012 dollars). Adjusting for inflation, that’s three times more than was spent on all military wars since the American Revolution.

The federal government currently runs more than 80 means-tested welfare programs. These programs provide cash, food, housing and medical care to low-income Americans. Federal and state spending on these programs last year was $943 billion. (These figures do not include Social Security, Medicare, or Unemployment Insurance.)

Over 100 million people, about one third of the U.S. population, received aid from at least one welfare program at an average cost of $9,000 per recipient in 2013. If converted into cash, current means-tested spending is five times the amount needed to eliminate all poverty in the U.S.

Record Beheadings And The Mass Arrest Of Christians – ISIS? Or Saudi Arabia

Our foreign policy is a total joke and the whole world knows it

In the past month, a group of radical Islamic extremists based in the Middle Eastbeheaded at least 23 people and enforced a ban on Christianity by arresting a group of people for practicing the faith in a private home.

No, I’m not talking about ISIS. The real culprit is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, one of the America’s closest global allies.

I have highlighted the inhumanity of the Saudi regime frequently recently in order to demonstrate the incredible hypocrisy of U.S. foreign policy. While America’s phony politicians and useless mainstream media will often hype anti-Chrtistian bigotry and humanitarian issues when it suits the status quo message, the true driver of U.S. foreign policy can be summarized with two words: CORPORATE PROFITS.

Of course, it’s not the average American who benefits from militarty-industrial complex profit margins. No, the American public is offered as a sacrifice on the alter of the cash flows for the 0.01%. The American citizenry is expected to lose its sons and daughters in battle abroad, while surrendering a middle class lifestyle at home, just so the political class and its oligarch masters can add another couple billion to their bank accounts. If American foreign policy actually had an non-economic motive to it, we wouldn’t be close allies with an inhumane feudal kingdom, which was also likely responsible for the attacks of 9/11.

Internal emails: EPA rules part of 'progressive' agenda

Emails between top Environmental Protection Agency officials reveal they saw their fight against global warming as putting them at “forefront of progressive national policy.”

“You are at the forefront of progressive national policy on one of the critical issues of our time. Do you realize that?” former EPA chief Lisa Jackson asked former EPA policy office head Lisa Heinzerling in a Feb. 27, 2009 email.

“You’re a good boss. I do realize that. I pinch myself all the time,” Heinzerling replied that same day to Jackson, who was using an alias email account under the fake name “Richard Windsor.”

These emails, which were part of a batch obtained by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, show what top EPA officials were thinking as the agency prepared to release its greenhouse gas endangerment finding. which would give the agency the power to regulate carbon dioxide emissions from tailpipes and, eventually, from power plants.

“This is not about climate,” CEI senior fellow Chris Horner told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “This is the progressive agenda.”

Multiculturalism Is a Failure

German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that in Germany, multiculturalism has "utterly failed." Both Australia's ex-prime minister John Howard and Spain's ex-prime minister Jose Maria Aznar reached the same conclusion about multiculturalism in their countries.

British Prime Minister David Cameron has warned that multiculturalism is fostering extremist ideology and directly contributing to homegrown Islamic terrorism. UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage said the United Kingdom's push for multiculturalism has not united Britons but pushed them apart. It has allowed for Islam to emerge despite Britain's Judeo-Christian culture.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair said the roots of violent Islamism are not "superficial but deep" and can be found "in the extremist minority that now, in every European city, preach hatred of the West and our way of life."

The bottom line is that much of the Muslim world is at war with Western civilization. There's no question that the West has the military might to thwart radical Islam's agenda. The question up for grabs is whether we have the intelligence to recognize the attack and the will to defend ourselves from annihilation.

Super PAC Fighting to Keep Harry Reid in Control of Senate is Flooded with ‘Dark Money’

Reid: ‘Dark money’ is the ‘greatest threat to our democracy that I have witnessed’

One of the biggest donors to the Super PAC aiming to keep Sen. Harry Reid (D., Nev.) in control of the Senate is a corporation run by a notorious Democratic donor that is contributing millions to outside spending groups.

Newsweb Corp, described as a printer of “alternative newspapers,” has been the second largest contributor to Senate Majority PAC so far this cycle. The company was founded by Fred Eychaner, who quietly contributed more than $14 million to liberal Super PACs in during the 2012 election.

Newsweb has thrown nearly $6 million into the political ring so far this cycle, and nearly all of it has gone to outside spending groups.

“The American people reject the notion that money gives billionaires, corporations or special interests a greater voice in government than voters,” Reid said on the Senate floor last week. “They believe, as I do, that the Constitution doesn’t give corporations a vote, and it doesn’t give dollar bills a vote.”

AG Gansler Backs Broader Water Protections Under Federal Clean Water Act

Attorneys General coalition supports clarification of protections for nation's waters proposed by the joint EPA-Army Corps plan, "Waters of the United States"

Baltimore, MD (Sept. 17, 2014) - Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler is backing a federal proposal designed to ensure that the nation's lakes, rivers, streams and wetlands receive proper protection under the federal Clean Water Act (CWA). He is joined by a coalition of seven other state attorneys general in comments submitted to the heads of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers' Civil Works Office on their joint Waters of the United States Proposed Rule.

"This proposal simplifies clean water enforcement for all states by closing the legal loopholes that thwart efforts to protect the waters that flow into Maryland," said Attorney General Gansler. "While Maryland laws and regulations are demanding, we know that polluted waters do not stop at the state line. To protect the Chesapeake Bay, we need an effective and consistent regulatory scheme nationwide."

The proposed rule seeks to clarify what types of waters are covered by the CWA - an issue muddied by two recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions. This lack of clarity has created uncertainty among businesses, citizens, and state and local pollution control officials regarding their obligations under the CWA. It has also potentially stripped large numbers of waterways of federal protection, leaving them, and the downstream waters with which they connect, vulnerable to degradation. All the Lower 48 states have waters that are downstream of other states.

No ID? Maryland gins up voters, and potential fraud

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Lowering the bar for voting while raising the opportunity for fraud, a Maryland task force wants to “modernize” the state’s online registration process — and much more.

Maryland already has some of the loosest election rules in the nation. No ID is required to vote. Effective this month, individuals can register online by inputting a name, birth date and the last four digits of their Social Security number.

The Right to Vote Task Force seeks to knock down even those rules. The Montgomery County panel — 10 Democrats, three Republicans, one independent and one Green Party member appointed by the County Council — would not require proof of legal residency to register.

Apple said Wednesday night that it is making it impossible for the company to turn over data from most iPhones or iPads to police — even when they have a search warrant — taking a hard new line as tech companies attempt to blunt allegations that they have too readily participated in government efforts to collect user information.

The move, announced with the publication of a new privacy policy tied to the release of Apple’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 8, amounts to an engineering solution to a legal quandary: Rather than comply with binding court orders, Apple has reworked its latest encryption in a way that prevents the company — or anyone but the device’s owner — from gaining access to the vast troves of user data typically stored on smartphones or tablet computers.

Why King Coal Will Keep Its Crown

For climate change activists and those hoping for an energy future dominated by renewables or even less-polluting natural gas, the death of coal cannot come quickly enough. But with coal still the dominant form of cheap electricity throughout the world, it is unlikely the bogeyman of climate change will disappear anytime soon.

That's because the price of coal, compared to other fuels, is just too good to refuse. Just look at China, where the country's double-digit economic growth has largely been fueled by coal, which fulfills 60 percent of its energy mix.

According to a chart [14] showing the levelized cost of energy -- the price at which electricity must be generated from a source to break even -- coal is the second-cheapest form of energy behind hydropower, at $40 per megawatt hour.

The Catalyst? Obama Sending 3000 U.S Troops To The Ebola Hot Zone

Barak Obama has pledged to send 3,000 troops to West Africa to help fight the Ebola outbreak that is spreading across the continent.

Reports state that the military contingent will be educating health workers and overseeing the building of new treatment centres.

Could this be the catalyst that brings Ebola Zaire to U.S soil? Hundreds of health workers have been sickened and many have died in the current outbreak which started earlier this year. With predictions of tens of thousands more people dying before the outbreak is contained now does not seem a good time to be sending military personnel to the area.

The timing of the announcement could be telling. Mac Slavo published an article just yesterday detailing the State department order for 160,000 hazmat suits. You can read the article here.

Halloween Costume Idea.....-- a cross-dresser?

The Scottish Disease

The Scots aren’t alone in dreaming of secession.

On Thursday, Scotland will decide whether it intends to remain part of the United Kingdom or go its own way as a separate nation. Inspired, Catalonia has renewed its campaign for independence from Spain. Earlier this week, it became clear that San Francisco venture capitalist Tim Draper’s “Six Californias”initiative — which would have seen the state subdivided into six new polities, in effect allowing affluent Silicon Valley to secede from the state’s poor interior and the vulgarians down south — would not proceed to the ballot, having failed to secure sufficient signatures in the petition stage. Secession talk, indulged with varying degrees of sincerity, is a staple of the culture of my home state of Texas. Soy-latte radicals dream of a great liberal secession from red-state rednecks. The libertarian economist Michael S. Rozeff writes wistfully of personal secession, the“panarchism” of Paul Émile de Puydt.

Md. Has New Tools Aiding Immigrant Youth

Maryland officials have announced three initiatives aimed at helping families who are sponsoring unaccompanied immigrant youth who have fled violence in Central America.

One of the initiatives announced Wednesday is a website www.buscandomaryland.com that enables people to find resources in their area and provides service organizations a way to offer assistance.

The second is a 211 phone number people can call for help that includes English and Spanish speakers.

Gov. Martin O'Malley's administration also announced that a printed guide has been produced with information about major service providers across the state.

Hillary paves her ‘path to power’

An example of how desperate some American conservatives have become occurred in 2008. A few began to realize how scary Barack Obama really is and openly hoped that Hillary Clinton would land the nomination.

The old ’60s radical over the young ’90s radical?

Yes, it’s that bad.

Hopefully there isn’t a rinse-and-repeat in two years (even though, let’s trust, Obama doesn’t get a third term). Most pundits expect Hillary Clinton to be the Democrats’ choice to finish the radical job Obama started.

Now, author Christopher Andersen has written an engrossing book about Madame Clinton, “American Evita: Hillary Clinton’s Path to Power.”

CDC Shocks Senator with Ebola Answer: 'It's A Disaster When a Disaster Is Declared'

Tuesday at a joint hearing of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Dr. Beth Bell, visibly shocked Sens. Barbara Mikulski (D-ML) and Tom Harkin (D-IA) with the admission that to this point only USAID is in charge of running the operation to combat the outbreak.

The USAID is the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance, which is the government agency that works to end extreme global poverty. The agency also is in charge of DART, ‎the deployment Disaster Assistance Response Team, which is meant to be a rapid response team of experts deployable within hours of an emergency.

"'It's a disaster when a disaster is declared," she said.

Governor’s Challenge Basketball Tournament Joins Forces with DMVelite; Adds Girls Division

Event to Return to Wicomico Youth & Civic Center December 26-27, 29-30

Salisbury, MD –
The largest holiday basketball tournament in the state of Maryland will continue to grow this year as the Governor’s Challenge Basketball Tournament returns to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center with an expanded format on December 26-27, 29-30. As part of the event’s growth, representatives from the Governor’s Challenge have announced a new partnership with DMVelite Showcase Events.

DMVelite, a sports event management company which focuses on the DC, Maryland and Virginia areas, is considered a leader in youth and high school basketball in the Mid-Atlantic region. Their mission is to promote and operate youth and high school basketball exposure events, including operating a scouting service connecting area players to college coaches and serving as a media outlet for high school basketball in the region, in an effort to assist local athletes in getting recognized and furthering their education.

“This is a special opportunity to partner with the Governor’s Challenge, an event that I’ve supported in the past as a participant team and Coach for Bowie High School,” explained Chris Lawson, CEO of DMVelite. “DMVelite Showcase Events is proud to be part of the 2014 event as co-promoter and media representatives. It is our goal to help make the Governors Challenge a big success that will attract teams from all over the east coast.”

The DMV effect is already having an impact on the Governor’s Challenge. Tournament officials project 48 teams will participate in this year’s event, up significantly from last year’s 35 teams. This increase includes the addition of a girls division, a first for the tournament. “Girls basketball as a whole need the opportunity to perform on a great platform and play among the best of the best,” says Kesha Cook, Mardela High School coach. “We feel the Governor’s Challenge will create a great opportunity for our sport to be showcased and we are very excited and honored to be a part of such a paramount moment for girls basketball.”

DMVelite will provide full scale coverage through the DMVelite.com website and social media, including tournament and team/player previews, game recaps, video and scouting reports for college coaches. In addition, DMVelite will run two showcase brackets featuring a number of the top teams in the region.

Edgar Walker, DMVelite Director of Scouting/Evaluations added, "Our entire DMVelite team is extremely excited about this new partnership. The Governor's Challenge has clearly established itself as the area's top holiday basketball tournament and we are certain that it will continue to grow. We're also very excited to step in and continue making an impact on the Eastern Shore basketball and sport landscape. The area has a rich history of basketball tradition and the amount of support and passion surrounding the sport in this area is comparable to any other region throughout the DMV."

“The Governor’s Challenge is very proud to announce this partnership with DMVelite. What they do for the basketball community in our region is phenomenal and we are thrilled to have them continue to grow and gain exposure for basketball on Delmarva,” said James Simmons, Governor’s Challenge Tournament Director. “Fans are going to get to see some great talent from around the region including their local teams and should be really excited to see that DMVelite is expanding their brand all the way down to Salisbury. The coverage, scouting and analysis that DMVelite provides is second to none and is taking our event to the next level.”

The official tournament field will be announced in mid-October. The official schedule will be released in early November as well as player, team and event previews leading up to the event.

ANOTHER football player has been arrested on domestic violence charges

Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer 'threw a shoe at his toddler son and assaulted woman'

Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was arrested Wednesday on aggravated assault charges in connection with two altercations at his home in July involving a woman and their 18-month-old child, the latest in a string of such cases involving NFL players.

One of the counts was 'aggravated assault causing a fracture' involving the 27-year-old victim on July 21, who was not identified. Police said they were carrying out a search warrant of Dwyer's residence in pursuit of more evidence.

Police said that in interviews with detectives, the 25-year-old player denied committing any assault.

Jewish group brands Biden's Shylock comment 'offensive'

Vice President Joe Biden drew fire from a prominent Jewish group on Tuesday after he described unscrupulous bankers who prey on servicemen and servicewomen deployed overseas as “Shylocks” — a term frequently condemned as an anti-Semitic caricature.

“Shylock represents the medieval stereotype about Jews and remains an offensive characterization to this day. The Vice President should have been more careful,” Anti-Defamation League National Director Abraham Foxman said.

Shylock, the villain in Shakespeare’s “The Merchant of Venice,” is a Jewish moneylender who mercilessly demands a “pound of flesh” from the merchant who defaults on a loan. Whether the 16th-century play is anti-Semitic or reflects the anti-Semitism of the time is a subject of frequent, bitter debate, but the term Shylock is offensive enough that Florida stripped it from state law back in 2009. (Not everyone has gotten that memo).

Pictures emerge of Django Unchained actress straddling and grinding her boyfriend in his car

The Django Unchained actress who claimed she was harassed by LAPD officers who unfairly arrested her when she was making out with her boyfriend appears to have been doing a lot more than just kissing.

Pictures obtained by TMZ show Daniele Watts straddling her boyfriend Brian James Lucas in his car while the couple steady themselves with their hands on the car sunroof.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that Watts was grinding on top of her boyfriend with her shirt pulled up and her breasts exposed.

An eyewitness who saw the couple as he worked in a nearby office told TMZ that Lucas was sitting in the passenger seat with his feet on the curb and Watts was straddling him and rocking back and forth.

Alexander the Great’s Tomb Discovered?

A massive round structure of Greek origin from the Hellenist period is holding scholars in great suspense. National Geographic has reported the finding os possibly the tomb of Alexander the Great. The site of ancient Amphipolis is about a hundred miles east of Thessalonica, on territory conquered by Alexander’s father Philip in the 4th century BC. Amphipolis was a major Greek city of the Macedonian empire, yet today it is a site goat-herders. This round building beneath the hill may be the original tomb of Alexander the Great based on its size and massive adornment. It is 500 meters in circumference surrounded by a very expensive marble wall.

The structure’s date has been fixed by analysis to be the last quarter of the 4th century BC, which matches the decades just after Alexander’s death in 323BC. No one else of this period would have warranted such a tomb. However, Alexander’s remains are known to have been stolen by Ptolemy, the Macedonian ruler of Egypt. Ptolemy buried the ruler in Alexandria, a city named after Alexander the Great in Egypt that still retains that name to this very day. That site was later visited by countless thousands including the notorious Roman Emperor Caracalla (198-217AD) in 215 AD where he is said to have stolen Alexander’s shield and sword then unleashing a massacre of the citizens despite being warmly received. Caracalla is said to have believe he was Alexander the Great reincarnated.

What Might Have Been

From Slope of Hope: Well, here we are again. On Wednesday, an elderly dwarf will capture the attention of the entire financial world as she bleats out whatever she and her minions believe will shore up the house of cards they have created. In a sane and just world, the aforementioned bridge troll would be an untenured economics professor at a mid-tier liberal arts college, but as it is now, Yellen is one of the most powerful humans (more or less) on the planet.

We are six years...........six.........years..........into this madness, and it shows no sign of stopping. Why should it? After all, statists and central planners have been doing a bang-up job of making the rich richer (which, in spite of the weary "dual mandate" trotted out in front of a smirking Congress, appears to be the only true raison d'etre behind the Federal Reserve).

What if it had gone differently? What if, six years ago, in the throes of the financial crisis, the political leaders in D.C. had decided that enough was enough, and they were going to seize the opportunity to make real and meaningful positive changes? (OK, stop laughing; seriously, stop it; I'm trying to write a post here; bear with me, because this is a fantasy piece, after all). So instead of doing what they did, just imagine with me events more along these lines:
