'Absolutely, There Will Be More Attacks In New York'
A Muslim extremist who earlier warned that TV's "South Park" creators should be "afraid for their lives" for insulting Islam's prophet Muhammad now says that yesterday's car bomb attempt in Times Square will be just the beginning of a new wave of terrorist attacks.
Younus Abdullah Muhammad, author of RevolutionMuslim.com, told WND senior reporter Aaron Klein on New York's WABC Radio that America should "absolutely" expect more jihadi violence in New York City.
When asked if the Times Square attack was specifically aimed at the offices of nearby Viacom, which owns the "South Park" series, Abdullah Muhammad deflected the question to condemn U.S. foreign policy instead.
"It was a retaliation for what your government is doing overseas," Abdullah Muhammad said. "If you want to continue killing civilians, then you're going to get many incidents that resemble what happened yesterday."

Economic Development For Muslims
The president thinks more U.S. investment in Muslim lands and exchange programs that will bring Muslim women to America so they can work as interns will enhance U.S. prosperity and, thus, change Muslim attitudes about the United States.
Pigs will fly first.
The U.S. has been more than generous to Arab and Muslim nations in direct foreign aid, military assistance and other ways. Egypt receives about $2 billion of American taxpayer dollars every year, yet it still votes against American interests at the U.N. 79 percent of the time. Jordan, a “moderate” Muslim nation, receives nearly $200 million annually in U.S. foreign aid, but votes against America at the U.N. 71 percent of the time. Pakistan votes 75 percent of the time against the U.S. at the U.N. while pocketing nearly $7 million annually in foreign aid (in addition to the money it gets to supposedly fight al-Qaida).
An even better example of the disconnect between American assistance and changed Muslim attitudes toward the U.S. is the Palestinian Authority. As former Israeli diplomat Yoram Ettinger writes for ynetnews.com, just since 2007, “U.S. foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority and to PA-controlled (nongovernmental organizations) reached nearly $2 billion, in addition to $3.7 billion contributed by the U.S. to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East since 1950.”
Has this aid produced jobs and, thus, a moderation in rhetoric and the objectives of the Palestinian Authority and its president, Mahmoud Abbas? Has it led to both sides in the Middle East conflict mounting a “sustained effort to respect one another and seek common ground,” as President Obama called for in his Cairo speech last year?

Who Says The Camera Never Lies?
Lucero received in the mail that lovely letter, telling her she owed $40 for speeding in Gaithersburg. But the Bethesda woman was ready for a fight, according to the Washington Examiner.
She discovered that the camera that nabbed her hadn’t been tested to make sure it was working properly on the day she was ticketed. Maryland law requires police to check all cameras every day.

One Year Ago Today
Detour On The Wicomico River
Last week I posted an article asking if everyone believed Mayor Ireton had actually made any progress on cleaning the Wicomico River in Salisbury.
Since then, the Daily Times had two articles in Sunday's paper about the exact same question and patted Jimmy on the back for his enthusiasm.
Unlike the Daily Times, we at Salisbury News thought we'd provide an image from this past Saturday where a boat traveling along the river walk had to make a detour to avoid all the trash in the river and turn around and go back.
Now I know there have been budget cuts and we can't just sit around complaining to a new Mayor who inherited such problems but wouldn't it be wise to at least schedule some kind of clean up on Friday's before the Downtown area gets the most traffic.
If I were to personally rate the improvement on the Wicomico River since Ireton got into Office I'd have to say absolutely nothing has changed. Pictures just don't lie.
Handicap Ramps
With billions of taxpayers money spend on handicap ramps, why do so many choose to ride right down the center of the road instead?
Back in the 1960's there was a cry for handicap people to have access to shopping and businesses. Over the past 6 years I have taken numerous photos of people on motorized scooters riding down Rt. 50, Rt. 13 and all over Downtown Salisbury.
Some have a tall flag on their scooter allowing motorists to see them but 95% of them do not. Nevertheless, there are ramps for them to access the sidewalks and they simply do not do so.
Before someone gets seriously hurt, do you think law enforcement should do something about this or simply let it be?
Farmers Market Kicks Off With Most Vendors Selling Out Before Noon
A Market Vendor said...
Joe,
Thank you for giving the market a plug it was most helpful. The first day is usually slow because not many people realize we have opened. Your help publicizing the Farmers Market has been fruitful and appreciated by all the vendors. This year on opening day some of the vendors sold out early and left. Asparagus were gone by 9am strawberries by 11. The fresh baked breads were nearly sold out by noon. Thank you to all for supporting local farmers, bakers and water men. We hope to continue to see you throughout the year.
Solar Cell Breakthrough: 90 Percent Efficiency At A Fraction Of The Cost Of Current Panels
Solar cells have long been a favorite of people trying to reduce or eliminate their energy bills. Many businesses have incorporated the technology as well because it is clean, renewable, and helps to reduce costs. Yet throughout its history, the relatively expensive up-front costs of obtaining photovoltaic cells has deterred many from investing in the technology. Researchers hope that their breakthrough new technology will change that.
The new cells consist of tiny silicon wires that measure a mere 1 micron in diameter. These wires are embedded into plastic plates where they convert light into electricity at an exceptional rate of efficiency. Any light that is leftover bounces around inside the wire matrix until it finds another wire that can absorb it. When all is said and done, nearly all the light is captured and converted into electricity.
The beauty of the new cell technology is that only two percent of the cell is composed of semiconductors, which are the most expensive component. The other 98 percent is made from inexpensive plastic, which translates into significantly lower prices for consumers as opposed to former solar cell technologies.

Tancredo: Amnesty Agenda Exposed
Arizona is again leading the way in efforts to control illegal immigration, and once again, the amnesty lobby is having a nervous breakdown.
This isn't the first time we have witnessed such obnoxious and arrogant behavior by the amnesty lobby. In 2004, Arizona passed a law by a referendum ballot to deny welfare benefits to illegal aliens. We saw the same slanders and name-calling directed against it. But the clamor slowly evaporated as the new law was upheld in state and federal courts. In that 2004 ballot election, neither the critics nor the media bothered to mention that 56 percent of Hispanic voters in Arizona supported the measure.
So, here we go again. While the protest scenario is familiar, this time the protests are even more hysterical because this time the stakes are higher. The Arizona law has been adopted at the same time the Obama administration is backpedaling on its promise of amnesty legislation in this session of Congress. The amnesty lobby sees its opportunity slipping away, and they are throwing a hissy fit.
The critics of the Arizona law have had fun misquoting me and spreading a false report that "Tom Tancredo says Arizona law goes too far." I never said anything like that and in fact have supported the Arizona law from day one. But once a sensational story like that is out there, it is picked up and repeated, and then is impossible to chase down and correct every permutation in the blogosphere.
Typical of the outrageous slanders against it was Juan Williams of "Fox News Sunday," who made the wild claim that the law will lead to "harassment of brown people." I guess the good news for Juan Williams is that illegal Russian and Jordanian immigrants have nothing to worry about.
Now, to the facts. The Arizona law, SB 1070, merely makes a state crime what is already a federal crime. For example, the requirement that legal aliens carry their documentation on their person is already in federal law. All of the provisions of the law were crafted carefully to avoid any conflict with federal law. It specifically prohibits stopping anyone based solely on race or ethnicity. The Arizona law does not attempt to create any new immigration law; it simply gives state law enforcement agencies the power to enforce existing laws and arrest persons who are in the country unlawfully.
Why the hysterical reaction from the left? The reasons are as simple as they are transparent. This act by Arizona lawmakers has exposed two lies the amnesty lobby has been promoting since Obama's election – one small lie and one whopper...

Top 10 Dumbest Things Said About The Arizona Immigration Law
The last few days have seen an extraordinary outburst of criticism of Arizona’s new immigration law. In the nation’s elite media outlets, its most respected commentators are portraying the law as an act of police-state repression. Many, if not all, of the specific criticisms can be refuted simply by reading the law itself, but others are more generalized criticisms of immigration enforcement. In any event, it’s hard to choose the most over-the-top and wrongheaded commentary on the law, but here are ten choices, in no particular order. (If you don’t know why a particular statement is wrong, you can check here, and here, and here, and here.)
1. “The statute requires police officers to stop and question anyone who looks like an illegal immigrant.”– New York Times editorial
2. “As the Arizona abomination makes clear, there is a desperate need for federal immigration action to stop the country from turning into a nation of vigilantes suspicious of anybody with dark skin.”– Dana Milbank, Washington Post
3. “I can’t imagine Arizonans now reverting to German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques whereby people are required to turn one another in to the authorities on any suspicion of documentation.”– Cardinal Roger Mahony
4. “This law creates a suspect class, based in part on ethnicity, considered guilty until they prove themselves innocent. It makes it harder for illegal immigrants to live without scrutiny — but it also makes it harder for some American citizens to live without suspicion and humiliation. Americans are not accustomed to the command ‘Your papers, please,’ however politely delivered. The distinctly American response to such a request would be ‘Go to hell,’ and then ‘See you in court.’”–
Michael Gerson, Washington Post
5. “In case the phrase ‘lawful contact’ makes it appear as if the police are authorized to act only if they observe an undocumented-looking person actually committing a crime, another section strips the statute of even that fig leaf of reassurance. ‘A person is guilty of trespassing,’ the law provides, by being ‘present on any public or private land in this state’ while lacking authorization to be in the United States — a new crime of breathing while undocumented.”–
Linda Greenhouse, New York Times
(Greenhouse’s “trespassing” allegation was based on an early version of the Arizona bill that was not the bill that became law. Her mistake was later removed from the Times site.)
Defined By Principle, Not Just Protest
Some, like Frank Rich of the New York Times or Dana Milbank of The Washington Post continue to paint Tea Partiers as violent, racist rednecks. Commentators such as these try to come across as offering some measure of detached observation and analysis, but their words generally betray their motives. In an attempt to control the narrative concerning the Tea Party movement, they have launched ill-conceived verbal attacks, attempting to taint the public's opinion in a negative way.
For instance, Frank Rich's unfortunate comparison of Tea Partiers' protests against Obamacare to Kristallnacht not only was baseless fear-mongering, it fabricated a historical congruity where none exists.
Others, like The Washington Post's Eugene Robinson, strive to present a comprehensive picture but achieve caricature, not truth:
"A 'movement' that encompasses gun nuts, tax protesters, devotees of the gold standard, Sarah Palin, insurance company lobbyists, 'constitutionalists' who have not read the Constitution, Medicare recipients who oppose government-run health care, crazy 'birthers' who claim President Obama was born in another country, a contingent of outright racists (come on, people, let's be real) and a bunch of fat-cat professional politicians pretending to be 'outsiders' is not a coherent intellectual or political force."
As such, Mr. Robinson completely misses the nature of the political force endowed in the Tea Party Movement.
In general, the media's attempt to portray Tea Partiers as racists has fizzled. Despite the presence of multitudes of cameras and microphones at the moment of claimed racial slurs on Capitol Hill on the weekend of the health care reform vote, no audio or video evidence has been discovered. No corroboration has been offered by anyone present, including the members of Congress who were the purported victims of racial invective. The dearth of proof continues despite the fact that Andrew Brietbart has offered a $100,000 reward to anyone who steps forward with verifiable evidence. Media outlets ran with reported anecdotal evidence but appear to have done little fact-checking. One can only conclude the evidence doesn't exist and that the actuality of the event was different from what was portrayed in the media.
Likewise, attempts to identify Tea Partiers as violent also have fizzled. There have been no reports of violence at Tea Party events. There have, however, been violent acts against those protesting Obamacare by those who favor it. For instance, at a town-hall health care meeting in St. Louis on Aug. 6, 2009, Kenneth Gladney, a black man selling American and "Don't Tread on Me" flags, was assaulted by men wearing SEIU (Service Employees International Union) shirts. On Sept. 3, 2009, Bill Rice, a 65-year-old man protesting Obamacare at a rally in Thousand Oaks, Calif., had his finger bitten off by a young Obamacare supporter. It seems Tea Party types have been the victims, not the perpetrators, of violence.
The Bully Party
The omens are everywhere. Iran is close to obtaining nuclear weapons. The eurozone is in crisis. The U.S. unemployment rate is near 10 percent. America’s social insurance programs threaten to bankrupt the country. And—most unusual—the Washington Nationals are above .500.
But rest easy. None of this is distracting the Obama administration and congressional Democrats from their full-time occupation: demonizing the political opposition.
Consider the debate over financial reform. This is a complex issue where both parties share the same (perhaps unachievable) goal: preventing another systemic financial crisis that requires massive taxpayer bailouts. And free-market conservatives have real concerns about Senator Chris Dodd’s legislation. Take, for example, the proposed resolution authority’s credit guarantees for large, complex financial institutions on the brink of failure. The worry is that the market will interpret these loopholes as signs the government will never allow such firms to go under. If that’s the case, Too Big to Fail lives on.
Rather than engage with these objections, however, the president has decided to slime the Republicans as defenders of the status quo. He’s deployed the same army of straw men, the same Manichean oratory, that he used during the health care fight. In his April 22 speech at Cooper Union, for instance, President Obama divided the world into those who “join me,” and those who support the “battalions of financial industry lobbyists descending on Capitol Hill.” For the president, the only middle ground is where he’s standing. Reasonable alternatives to his policies simply do not exist. It is Obama alone who determines which arguments are “legitimate” and which are “misleading.” It’s rhetorical blackmail: Agree with me, the president is saying, or I’ll call you a liar and a hack.
The Democratic response to dissent is a lot like their governing style: partisan, arrogant, and self-righteous. In recent weeks, various Democratic factotums have lectured the public about “extreme” rhetoric, insinuating that the Tea Party takes its cues from The Turner Diaries. Some liberals suffer from a pathological inability to refer to the Tea Party by its name, preferring a crude and infantile sexual epithet. The folks waving signs and holding peaceful rallies have been insulted as fakes, wackos, ignoramuses, racists, nihilists, and hicks suffering from status anxiety. But when a poll revealed the Tea Party movement is better educated and wealthier than the electorate at large, a prominent Washington Post columnist summarily dismissed the movement as the “populism of the privileged.” The lines of attack change, but the message is always the same: Go home. Shut up. Let us do what we want.

Democrats Pledge To 'Move Toward' 2010 Vote On Immigration Reform
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and other Democrats made that pledge as they unveiled their outline of an immigration reform plan, which has been widely viewed as a political exercise to help Reid and other Democrats with Hispanic voters, a growing electoral bloc.
Democratic strategists say the issue is not a clear winner like the Wall Street reform bill; Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), the plan’s primary author, acknowledged that dealing with an estimated 10.8 million illegal residents is “morally complex” and “politically explosive.”
Even so, Democrats see it as more divisive for the Republican Party, which is under pressure from Tea Party conservatives to be tough on illegal immigrants but also does not want to lose Hispanic voters.
In a bid to win GOP support, Democrats say they have made securing the nation’s borders the top priority in the bill.
[We've heard this before-- the laws are already in place. Just go ahead and DO IT.--Editor]
The bill focuses on three areas: It would tighten security along the nation’s northern and southern borders; register illegal immigrants with the federal government and set them on a path to citizenship if they pay fines, learn English and stay out of criminal trouble; and crack down on employers who hire illegal workers.
“Our proposal will require the government to secure the border first before we adjust the status of a single person here illegally — just what many of our colleagues are saying on the other side of the aisle,” said Schumer, who insisted the border security proposals he is advancing are tougher than those considered during Bush’s tenure.
Schumer also highlighted a proposal to implement a nationwide worker-verification program, which would require every worker to carry a national identification card with biometric information within six years.
That proposal has already drawn fire from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), but Schumer said it is essential to stem the tide of illegal workers.
“Our proposal recognizes that no matter what we do on the border, we’ll only succeed in dramatically reducing future illegal immigration by creating an employment verification system that holds employers accountable for knowingly hiring illegal workers,” he said.
The ACLU panned the proposal in a press statement earlier in the day, saying it would “usher government into the very center of our lives.”

GOP Comes To Ocean City
A good time had by all. While the GOP came to Ocean City, training sessions were what was in order for the weekend. However, after the first round of meetings on Friday to prepare for what was ahead over the next two days, they kicked things off with several hospitality suites, food, drinks and yes, Smith Island Cake.
Joe Collins and I spend quite a bit of time with New Mexico's Governor and Presidential hopeful Gary Johnson. We talked quite a bit about the new Arizona Immigration Law and got an interesting lesson on Presidential Amnesty.
Eric Wargotz, Andy Harris, Michael James were just a few of the names in attendance as republican candidates from all over Maryland were there to enjoy some great fellowship. Bob Erlich was present on Saturday as a key note speaker.

Joe here is something else that you can post that clearly shows more corruption from Gordy and Hoppes. They are attempting to conduct upcoming promotions for Captains and Lieutenants. They are trying to make these promotions before the next fire chief is appointed by the mayor. This is something that should be exposed. Promotions should be handled by the incoming fire chief not Bill Gordy or Rick Hoppes. Please post this so the citizens and Mayor Ireton can put a stop to it until the new fire chief is in office.

The lady said, "I'm not using it under my arms."
The pharmacist said, "If you're using it on your legs, don't shave for a couple of days."

The pharmacist said, "Stay off your bicycle for about a week."
Arizona Legislature Gives Conservatives Plenty To Cheer About
But the Arizona Legislature adjourned this week with a legacy of new laws that put it at the forefront of the nation's growing conservative movement.
There's the law that allows adults to carry a concealed weapon without the permit, background check or training course that was previously required, and the declaration that the federal government has no right to regulate light bulbs or guns manufactured entirely within the state.
In response to big budget deficits, lawmakers also cut health insurance for 36,000 children, making Arizona the first state to eliminate coverage under the Children's Health Insurance Program. They later reversed those cuts to avoid risking the loss of billions of federal Medicaid dollars because of the new health care overhaul.
Lawmakers also restricted the use of human embryos in scientific research, and made it illegal for a school district to have any courses that promote a particular ethnic group or advocate ethnic solidarity.
Finally, there is the law that has gotten the most attention: The crackdown on illegal immigration by requiring police to question people about their immigration status if there's reason to suspect they're in the country illegally, and making it a state crime to be in the United States illegally.
"We are so far ahead of the other states that they can hardly see us," said Rep. John Kavanagh, a Republican from Fountain Hills.
Others see it differently.
"We have raised the bar on the definition of crazy and ridiculous," said Democratic Rep. Ed Ableser.
The immigration law will take effect in late July, three months after the legislature adjourns, unless opponents succeed in blocking it with a referendum or lawsuits. Those who oppose the measure say it promotes racial profiling and other abuse.
Arizona has always been a Republican state, but the ascent of a Republican governor, the creation of publicly funded campaigns, and a lack of competitive legislative districts have combined to make the Arizona Legislature a national pioneer in advancing conservative causes.
Other measures championed by conservatives made it out of one chamber but not the other, such as a bill to require presidential candidates to prove their citizenship to get on Arizona's ballot and a measure giving priority in adoptions to married couples.
Deanna Williams Of Bennett Middle School Named Best-Mannered Teacher Winner
A reading and language arts teacher from Bennett Middle School, Deanna Williams received the first award for the best-mannered teacher given by the Eastern Shore Chapter of the National League of Junior Cotillions Friday night.
The winner was announced by Ann Wiseman, director of the Eastern Shore Chapter of the National League of Junior Cotillions. All candidates for the award were nominated by students in the cotillion class as best exemplifying the etiquette and manners that they were learning in their local cotillion classes every month. Jared Ramses nominated the winning teacher and he presented her with the award at the conclusion of the Eastern Shore Chapter’s Spring Ball.
The other finalists for the award were Ronald Dyda and Rebekah Badaki, both of Salisbury Middle School; and Debbie Traum of St. Frances de Sales School. The winner was announced at the Eastern Shore Chapter’s Grand Spring Ball in front of the cotillion students, Dr. John Frederickson, the Wicomico County superintendent of schools, and the other finalists and their school officials.
Ann Wiseman, director of the Eastern Shore Chapter of the National League of Junior Cotillions, said, “The students in our program were excited about being part of the selection process. They wanted to honor teachers who exemplify the etiquette and manners being taught in our program.”
The teachers were nominated by Eastern Shore Chapter Junior Cotillion students who wrote an essay about a teacher in their school. The criteria for selection included their positive characteristics, how the teacher shows courtesy and respect for students, and why the person is a good role model.
The National League of Junior Cotillions is an etiquette and social dance training program that involves thousands of young people nationwide. Students learn the customs and courtesies that will serve them for a lifetime. Topics covered include table manners, writing thank notes, and responding to formal invitations, in addition to many other social skills, including the basics of ballroom dancing, that will make life more pleasant for them and for those around them. Most importantly, the students learn to feel comfortable in social situations.

Brass Shell Casings
and it should make you want to slap the hell out of the idiots
we have in Washington DC.
Georgia Arms is the 5th
largest retailer of .223 Ammo in America. They sell 9mm, .45,
.223 ammunition. They normally buy spent brass from the US
Department of Defense. Spent brass is "one time used" shell
cases used by our Military for training purposes.
They
buy the brass, recondition it, and then reload the brass for
resale to Law Enforcement, Gun Clubs, Gun Shops, and stores
like Wal-Mart. They normally buy 30,000 lbs of spent brass at
a time.
This week the DoD wrote a letter to the owner
of Georgia Arms and informed him that from now on the DoD will
be destroying the spent brass, shredding it. It will no
longer be available to the ammo makers, unless they buy it in
a scrap shredded condition (which they have no use
for).
The shredded brass is now going to be sold by the
DoD to China as scrap metal, after the DoD pays for it to be
shredded. The DoD is selling the brass to China for less money
than the ammo makers have been paying, plus the DoD has to pay
to have the brass shredded and do the accounting
paperwork.
This sure helps the economy now doesn't it?
Sell cheaper to China, and do not sell at all to a proven US
business. Any hidden agenda working here? Obama going
after the Firearms Industry and our ammunition!!
The
Georgia Arms owner even related a story that one of his
competitors had already purchased a load of brass last week.
The DoD contacted him this week and said they were sending
someone over to make sure it was destroyed. Shell cases he had
already bought!
The brass has no value to the ammo
maker if it is destroyed/shredded/melted.
The ammo
manufacturer only uses the empty brass cases to reload
different calibers, mainly .223 bullets.
The owner of
Georgia Arms says that he will have to lay off at least half
of his 60 workers, within 2-3 months if the DoD will no longer
sell spent brass cases to the industry. Georgia Arms has 2-3
months of inventory to use, by summer they're out.
If
the Reloading Industry has to purchase new manufacture brass
cases, then the cost of ammunition will double or even triple,

FODEMAN: Obamacare's Doctorless World
In rural areas of the country, obtaining a doctor's appointment is practically mission impossible. Even in cities such as Boston and Manhattan, it can be very difficult for patients to attain the medical care they badly need, particularly for Medicare and Medicaid patients. From New York's Upper East Side to the heartland to San Francisco's Haight Ashbury, a striking physician shortage exists in this country. The reasons for the dearth of doctors are complex, but one thing is certain: The "health care reform" that President Obama ardently pushed down the public's throat and recently signed into law will not increase the scant supply of doctors. In fact, it will make the problem worse.
There is a huge investment in both time and money before one is qualified to practice medicine. Medical school, which future doctors complete after four years of undergraduate studies, is another four years of expensive schooling. Then, to be able actually to practice and make a living, doctors must complete a rigorous residency program ranging from an additional three to six years of training, depending on the specialty. The majority of physicians do a fellowship on top of that, which is another two to three years. By the time most doctors start their careers, they are in their 30s and have accrued more than $150,000 in education-related debt.
It is true that in every profession one must pay one's dues, so to speak. Yet, the "dues" in medicine considerably trump those of any other field. Medicine is not only mentally challenging, but incredibly physically and psychologically demanding as well. The training is brutal - 30-hour shifts, 80-hour-plus weeks, four days off per month, lunch breaks nonexistent. The salary, which hovers just above minimum wage on an hourly basis throughout the training marathon, bears no relationship to the responsibility, education and skill set. While contemporaries move on with their lives, buy homes and take vacations, a vacation for a young doctor often is merely the opportunity to sleep in his or her own bed and not at the hospital. A break on a 30-hour shift can be little more than five minutes to scarf down dinner, praying you are not interrupted by a page. You usually are.
It takes tremendous sacrifice to become a physician. If anything, doctors should be rewarded to give up so much to pursue this noble calling. They certainly should not be disincentivized, which is precisely what the newly passed law will do.
Obamacare is brutal for physicians, and the detriment transcends dollars and cents. The law establishes approximately 159 new committees, agencies and bureaucracies, each with incredible power and flexibility to dictate physician decisions and burden an industry already regulated to death with even more red tape. This will further strip doctors of their autonomy and drown them in ever more bureaucracy and paperwork. It will make doctors even more beholden to the whims of unaccountable bureaucrats and lawyers than they already are, at the expense of the patients' best interest. Doctors will have to waste valuable time complying with inane regulations that are superfluous and sometimes harmful to patient care. This will result in physicians having even less time to administer to patients. The problem will be magnified as declining reimbursements compel doctors to see more patients to maintain the same income. It will hamstring a physician's ability to practice good medicine and will drain job satisfaction.
Obamacare will dissuade bright young minds from entering medicine in the first place, while many doctors already practicing will either retire or switch careers. New patients will be unable to find doctors, and many patients content with their health care will eventually encounter similar difficulty. Obamacare is certainly bad for doctors. Ultimately, however, it is the patient - haplessly facing restricted access, long waits and rationed care - who suffers the most.
Mr. Obama has correctly noted the shortage of primary care physicians, but his prescription to resolve the problem will only exacerbate it. Furthermore, there are shortages in many specialties and subspecialties as well. A policy of "Regulate more, pay less" will prove a very difficult recruiting motto.

Interesting Response About NOAA Registry/Fishing Costs
Joe,
After buying my fishing license this year and reading a few articles you had about the NOAA registration I decided to write O'Malley's office about the cost of fishing and the added requirements. This is the return email I received from one, Joe Evans. If there were no proposal for charging in 2011 and beyond, than why does it specifically say on all press releases there will be no fee for 2010?
It is $15 per person for tidal fishing license that does not include non-tidal (which is a large part of fishing!), crab stamp, or trout stamp all of which are needed for true recreational fishers because we explore all water ways! So tell me, is he trying to pass one over or is he truly ignorant to plain English? Fishing is literally the only activity my family partakes in because it gets us out of the house and allows us to spend quality time together; I follow the regulations and proposed regulations closely!
A quick browse of the website: https://www.countmyfish.noaa.gov/faq_registry.html#9 in the frequently asked questions section states in #'s 8, 9, and 10 clearly state there WILL be a fee for 2011 which will be between $15-$25. However, Mr. Evans claims there will be no fee as can be seen in his response.
9. How much will registration cost in 2011?
The fee for registering in 2011 has not been established yet, but NOAA estimates it will cost between $15 and $25.
10. How will the fee be determined?
According to Federal law, the registration fee will be calculated based on the cost to administer the program. That means that NOAA will look at the total amount of money it takes to run the registry, and divide that by the anticipated number of people registering. In other words, if the program costs $25,000 to operate and 1,000 people were registering, the fee would be $25 per angler.
The response I was sent follows.
I’m responding to your March 10, 2010 note to Governor O’Malley concerning fishing license fees and the new NOAA National Saltwater Angler Registry. I have been unable to reach you by phone. Please forgive this written response.
First of all, I note in your letter that you paid $85 for Maryland fishing licenses for yourself and your husband. The cost should have been $15 each for a total of $30. If you purchased a Consolidated Bay Sport Boat License, the fee should have been $50 for the boat, which includes a complimentary tidal fishing license for the boat owner.
Please let me know where you bought your licenses so I can follow up to ensure that the agent is not overcharging.
Concerning the new Federal law requiring all anglers who fish in tidal waters in U.S. waters to join NOAA’s new Saltwater Angler Registry, please know that the process is free of charge, and it will continue to be free of charge in future years.
Next year when you buy your Maryland Tidal Sport Fishing License, your registration with NOAA will be automatic. This year, Maryland needed to enact legislation to make some changes to our licensing system in order to comply with NOAA information requirements. With the Governor’s help, this has been accomplished.
I am attaching some additional information to this letter, which I hope will answer other questions that you may have.
Please feel free to call me directly with further questions and thoughts.
We appreciate the feedback and wish you the best of luck in your fishing for years to come.

So True
And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!
But now that I'm over the ripe old age of forty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!
I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!
There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents!
Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe!
There were no MP3's or Napsters or iTunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself!
Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig?
We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it!
There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOSH!!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are.
And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!
We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!
You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?!
There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!
And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that!
And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores!
And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were lucky, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place!
See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1970 or any time before!

Some People Really SUCK!
On Saturday we reached out to the community for the Koerner Family who have been medically removed from their home because of mold and mildew. Their story can be read HERE but it has now been chopped up because Jonathan Taylor and his minions constantly harassed this Family with phone calls, acting like reporters and then attacking them.
"The person who called them apparently had not taken the time to read my e-mail to you, which you posted verbatim, because he began to ask questions like a news reporter, and the answers were in the article."
How dare you harass these people with phone calls and treat this Family as an outcast. Get a life and leave innocent people alone. Is it your goal to destroy everyone, or haven't you gotten the fact that Salisbury News has a huge following and can and does in fact help many, unlike you.
While YOU suck off the taxpayers collecting Food Stamps, Section 8 housing, disability and health care, why not try to show some respect for those who are legitimately down and out, trying to survive.
"Julie Koerner wrote and told me that the Green Turtle in Salisbury will be doing a Fundraiser for them on May 18th. They will be blessed with 10% of any meal sales for that day!" Everyone needs to step up to the plate and help support this event.
Jonathan, pick on someone your own size. Not those who are down and out. Jonathan has since shut down his Blog Site because he's mental enough to believe he can actually run for City Council and win.
The Battle Rages Against Illegal Immigration
Delegate Wants Immigration Fight in MD

Illegal Immigrant Battle Moves to Maryland
Del. Pat McDonough
Arizona has become ground zero in the battle over illegal immigration, but at least one Maryland state delegate is trying to bring the fight here.
The question is whether police in our state should be allowed to question people who they think might be in the county illegally, which essentially is what police will be allowed to do in Arizona. That state's new immigration law is expected to take effect this summer.
State Delegate Pat McDonough, a Republican from Baltimore County, is a frequent critic of policies he says fail to target illegal immigrants. The Arizona law has drawn a lot of criticism since it passed, but Del. McDonough says Maryland should pass the exact same law.
And he plans to find out what every candidate for office in our state this November thinks about the idea. 'When people come across that border, they're not going to go to Arizona anymore. They're coming here,' Del. McDonough said.
Del. McDonough defended Arizona's immigration law. He says it's merely a copy of federal immigration laws already on the books. 'They just got so frustrated down there with the idea that the federal government was not enforcing the law,' he said. 'So they said ok we'll take the same law, the federal law, and we'll make it a state law and we will enforce it.'
CASA of Maryland is one of the groups calling for a repeal of the Arizona law. CASA's lead organizer in Baltimore, Elizabeth Alex, says it criminalizes immigrants and will lead to racial profiling. 'This is a huge symptom of the gaping sore that is our broken immigration system and we need to address this at the federal level,' she said.
Immigrants in Maryland whom Alex has spoken with are angry about the new law. CASA will participate in large protests in Washington and around the country next weekend. 'These types of small enforcement-only strategies don't work we need to look at the entire immigration system and solve it in a comprehensive way,' Alex said.
Del. McDonough says new, comprehensive federal legislation could lead to amnesty for illegal immigrants who are already here. And he believes a large majority of people in our state and around the country agree with him. 'If President Bush and President Obama and the politicians in Washington enforce the current law, we wouldn't need a new law we wouldn't need anything we wouldn't need a state law but they have not done that,' he said.
This week Del. McDonough plans to start sending a survey to every candidate for the General Assembly -- along with the candidates for governor -- asking them whether they agree with Arizona's approach.
'We'll go on the record and this summer we're going to pretty much know who is in favor of the Arizona bill and who is not,' he said.

FOSTER PARENTS OF THE YEAR
ANNAPOLIS, MD – First Lady Katie Curran O’Malley and Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR) Secretary Brenda Donald joined forces today to host an appreciation event at Government House for Maryland’s foster parents in honor of National Foster Parent Appreciation Month.
“Foster parents provide a loving and nurturing environment for children who cannot live with their birth parents,” said First Lady Katie O’Malley. “They can make a tremendous difference for children who are going through very difficult times.”
“Our foster parents are our most important resource,” Secretary Donald. “I am constantly heartened by so many people who are willing to open their homes and hearts to a child in need. We will always need foster parents to fill in the gap for children who need love and support.”
Under the leadership of the O’Malley/Brown Administration, Maryland has seen a nearly 20 percent drop in the number of foster children in care; a 40 percent reduction in placing foster children in group homes and an increase in the number of finalized adoptions. Last year, child welfare workers finalized 770 adoptions. Both the First Lady and Secretary Donald attribute these initial successes to DHR’s Place Matters initiative – an initiative that has significantly reformed child welfare practices in the state.
“Nothing matters more to a child than a place to call home,” said Secretary Donald. “And more than ever, we are seeing foster care as a temporary safe haven for children.”
To select the foster parents of the year, each of the 24 local departments of social services identified a foster parent that has gone above and beyond to serve children, with a special focus on those who have made themselves available to help older children in care. There are approximately 8,300 children in care across the state and about 50 percent are 13 years of age and older.
Maryland continues to recruit additional foster parents to be resources for children in care. If you are interested in information about becoming a resource, please call 1-888-MD-KIDS2 (1-888-635-4372).

Hoyer foe comes out firing
GOP's Lollar launches bid for Congress
by Alan Brody | Staff Writer Gazette
ANNAPOLIS - Casting Congress as dysfunctional and out of touch with most Americans, Republican Charles J. Lollar on Thursday formally announced his bid to dethrone one of the highest-ranking and longest-serving representatives on Capitol Hill. Lollar, 38, of Newburg has been campaigning and raising money for months in preparing for a challenge to U.S. House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer.
He has become one face of the national tea party movement, in part because of the energetic speeches he has delivered that offer sharp criticisms of Democrat rule in Washington. "We have a gentleman [in Hoyer] that is out of touch with the realities of taxpaying citizens and everyday decisions that we have to make in our community," Lollar told a group of about 25 supporters at Thursday's formal announcement on Lawyers Mall outside the State House. Specifically, Lollar railed against a socialized agenda he said is being pursued nationally and laws that defy constitutional rights, citing the recent passage of federal health care reform as an example.
He also defended gun rights and called for tougher immigration policies like the one passed by state lawmakers in Arizona last week. "The enemies I see today are not people as much as they are policies," Lollar said, referencing the oath he took more than a dozen years ago as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps to defend his country against domestic and foreign adversaries.
While the GOP hopeful, who was scheduled to hold a fundraiser Thursday night in Prince Frederick with former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. and former New Hampshire Gov. John H. Sununu, struck an exuberant tone on a sun-splashed Lawyers Mall, toppling Hoyer (D-Dist. 5) of Mechanicsville is no easy task. In recent elections, Hoyer has been dominant at the polls, garnering at least 65 percent of the vote in every race since 1998. His closest margin of victory in a general election came in 1992, when he topped Republican Lawrence J. Hogan Jr. 53 percent to 44 percent.
Hoyer, who won a special election in 1981 after then-Rep. Gladys Noon Spellman fell into a coma and her seat was declared vacant, also boasts $1.5 million in his primary campaign account and nearly as much in a separate fund typically used to dole out to other candidates. Lollar said his campaign has raised almost $200,000, but expects to bring in $2 million by the end of the race. This fall's election is the first time since becoming majority leader in 2006 that Hoyer will have to defend his seat with a Democrat in the White House. That could be a vulnerability, said St. Mary's College of Maryland political science professor Todd E. Eberly.
"It helps him in some ways, but he also has a large target on his back because he is now firmly established as a member of Democratic leadership," Eberly said. "And because he's a good foot soldier, he's going to be painted with the brush of [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi." But Lollar still faces a steep uphill climb in November if he captures the Republican nomination over Charles County school board member Collins A. Bailey, the man Hoyer defeated in 2008. Eberly said the GOP might see him as their giant-killer candidate, similar to former Rep. George Nethercutt and Sen. John R. Thune, who unseated then-Speaker Thomas S. Foley (D-Wash.) in 1994 and incumbent Sen. Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) in 2004, respectively.
Lollar disagrees, saying Hoyer is not a political giant. "I see him as un-American policies and just someone who is out of touch with true citizenship," he said, characterizing Hoyer as too liberal for the 5th District, which includes all of Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's counties and parts of Anne Arundel and Prince George's. Hoyer's campaign issued a statement defending Congress' actions during a devastating recession and said the economy is on the path to recovery.
"Congressman Hoyer shares people's frustration with spending, and deficits, and he has fought for fiscally responsible policies like pay-as-you-go budgeting and the bipartisan fiscal commission that will recommend ways to balance the budget later this year," campaign spokeswoman Lisa Bianco said in the statement.
"He is also working to turn the economy around and while there is more work to be done, the economy is starting to create jobs again and home prices are on the rise. Congressman Hoyer believes that we cannot go back to the irresponsible policies of the Bush Administration and will continue to work to rein in wasteful spending and bring our budget back to balance."
National party leaders already have given support to Lollar's campaign, and he expects that will continue through September and November. "We the people have to take back our country," Lollar said. "We the people have to stand for the United States of America, and we the people have to make a choice in the direction of where we're going. We need to believe in community again."
Some Fear Oil From Gulf Spill Could Reach N.C.
Others are calling it a remote possibility - saying their biggest worry is for the N.C. fishing industry, which depends on Gulf Coast oysters and shrimp in the off season.
The spill is at the top of the "very energetic" Loop Current, a part of the Gulf Stream that sends water south along the western Florida shelf, around the state and northward along the East Coast, said Jerald Ault, a professor of marine biology at the University of Miami.
"The net result is, the potential for dispersion is very high," he said.
Whether oil from the spill makes it into the current depends on a few factors, such as the volume of oil being leaked and how quickly responders are able to clean it. If it gets swept into Loop, the oil could drift north as far as Cape Hatteras within a week - though a more conservative estimate would be two weeks to a month, he said.
Either way, "you definitely could be seeing oil that way," he said.
N.C. Geologist Kenneth Taylor said that's a remote possibility.
"The key thing about it is, there are currents," said Taylor, who serves as disaster response and recovery coordinator for the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources. "If it gets into the Gulf Stream, it could go to Canada. But is there enough oil ... to get in there?"
