Has anyone looked into the legality of this. Of course the City of Salisbury can allow it if they choose. What Im talking about is the fact that these (were) legally designated pedestrian cross walks. The marking and design is regulated by the Maryland Transportation Article and the Federal regulations. Who is going to get the law suit papers when an elderly person or child is using the cross walks, thinking I have always crossed here and the cars have to yield. Not now. There is a reason Jake allowed this in this intersection because he controls it. Try allowing these markings in the cross walks on Rt. 50 by the GOB and see what the State Highway's answer will be.

Communities of faith are threatened. It's kind of like states rights. We all know who have always been amongst us. We may not have liked,agreed or understood it but these were peoples family brothers and sisters and members of our little isolated communities and we not only tolerated them but embraced and protected them. Not a great lot for them to realize their dreams. Many ran off and never came back and many came back sick and maimed. Some nursed and many rejected but we can't deny they are some new thing and I don't think any of us are so chaste we can judge them. We don't really know what they do and I really don't sit around wondering what my hetero neighbors do.....ewww and minding ones own business use to be the status quo.

I watched this first hand and it was very disturbing to my family. I was looking forward to the "Folk Festival" and volunteering 4 hours of my time. After witnessing this I will not be attending the Folk Festival nor will I or my family support any downtown businesses and if I'm ever picked for jury duty again they can just fine me. So I would say the biggest loser of my money will be Market Street because of the number of clients I bring into town. We have choices and I choose not to support any event downtown.

I believe this was touted as the "First in Maryland"...and if you do your homework, you'll find that this was exactly the plan all along between Jake Day and the "Folk Festival" peeps. It shows "diversity and inclusiveness"--which is extremely odd...because there is only ONE group that backed it. Not very diverse or inclusive. If that's what the City was TRULY going for...why not forge an alliance with religious leaders in the area as well as leaders from other movements/lifestyles to display "artwork" in each of the rainbows stripes? THAT would show sincerity.

HOWEVER, why do folks who have children have to explain to their sons or daughters why there is a man dressed up like a woman painting the cross walk. Every network runs commercials that show gay folks holding hands, kissing, laying in bed together, etc. Again, if you like to have anal sex with another dude, or strap on a latex monster and drill your girlfriend or go downtown on your girlfriend, to each their own. Why does it have to be public and forced down the throats of our children? Let them decide and find out as they become older and realize that they prefer same sex relationships. It’s just not right to folks who believe in traditional relationships, the one in which we raise our children in.
