Salisbury News Breaks New Record
This isn't just any new record, this was a huge jump, (so far) in hits and we're very honored. That being said, there's a whole lot of new viewers and guess what, nothing has been in the Daily Times so once again we've earned it.
Chamber of Commerce, Greater Salisbury Committee, J.T. Foxx Show, what's next, Oprah? LMAO! Hey, I know, how about the Bill Reddish Show! I know the OC Today Newspaper gave us credit last week on a photo or two from Dancing with the Delmarva Stars.
I can't explain the recent spike in hits but we welcome all of you to Salisbury News. It's nice to have you visit and it's always pleasant to see Salisbury News grow. Thanks for visiting and we hope you enjoy all that we offer.
Mike Tyson's 4-Year Old Daughter Dies After Accident
PHOENIX — The 4-year-old daughter of former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson died Tuesday, a day after what police called a "tragic accident" in her home. Phoenix police spokesman Andy Hill said Exodus Tyson was pronounced dead in a hospital just before noon.
Police said the girl was playing on a treadmill Monday in her central Phoenix home when she either slipped or put her head in the loop of a cord hanging under the console.
Exodus' 7-year-old brother found her and told their mother, who was in another room. She took Exodus off the cord, called 911 and tried to revive her.
Responding officers and firefighters performed CPR on Exodus as they took her to the hospital, where she had been listed in critical condition since Monday.
Tyson was in Las Vegas at the time of the accident and flew Monday to Phoenix, where he was seen entering the hospital.
Cynthia Schwartz, a spokeswoman for Tyson, said the family would release a statement Tuesday evening. They had not made any funeral arrangements, she said.
Hill said it was unclear whether an autopsy would be performed.
Traffic Crash Sends Two Drivers To The Hospital
The crash occurred on Monday evening May 25 just before 9 pm on US 13 north of Harrington approximately 3/10 of a mile north of Hopkins Cemetery.
Orlandra Burris, 18, of Felton was traveling north on US 13 in the right lane when she came upon a slower moving truck. As she moved into the left lane her 2009 Saturn Relay SUV went out of control and crossed into the southbound lanes. The Saturn struck the driver’s side of a 2000 Honda Passport which was heading south on US 13. After the impact both vehicles spun out of control and came to rest on the southbound side of the highway. Each vehicle ended up striking two separate utility poles.
The driver of the Honda Passport was identified as Gail L. Wayman, 44, Dover. She was taken to Milford Memorial Hospital where she was treated for chest pain and an injured right wrist.
Burris was taken to Kent General Hospital where she was treated for leg and back pain. Burris was cited by troopers for careless driving.
Both operators were wearing their seatbelts.
The southbound right lane was closed for approximately an hour until the wreckage could be cleared.

Brooke Mulford Update
Today however things were not too good. It kind of started yesterday. Brooke's mouth became really sore and she could not eat. This morning she had a fever and a lot of pain. We knew from round 4 that this could happen again. Amy got all her things together and was on the phone with CHOP. We took Brooke to the ER at PRMC around 2PM. Brooke and Amy just now left for CHOP. After having Brooke's blood drawn and the results came back it was the lowest her counts have ever been. She needed a blood transfusion and platelets. They started a couple antibotics and the blood right away. The platelets would have to wait until CHOP because PRMC does not have radiated platelets. This time CHOP sent their own Ambulance and team down because of the blood transfusion and the counts being so low! One bonus their Ambulance has a TV and DVD player.
Brooke is really bummed out this time. She just wants to go home so bad. Today Aunt Kelly and Uncle George were comming over for a small cookout and she was so excited for this. What can you say the girl is like her Daddy she loves parties! She was just crushed! We were due to go to CHOP on Wednesday and Thursday for a lot of tests in preparation for the Transplant. The big one was another Bone Marrow Biopsy. This will set things back. I will do an update tomorrow once Amy and Brooke are settled in to know more how she is doing.
Thank you so much Dr. Forrestal for taking such good care of Brooke in the ER today. Thank you also for calling Miss Shannon(Dr. Forrestal's wife) and having her stop by with Riley, that at least brought a smile to Brooke's face. I would also like to send a big thank you to Jackie Gast for bringing over a turkey dinner this week. That meal supplied 3 dinners a couple lunches and a couple midnight dinners for me this week. We really stretched that one out. Now that Mothers Day and SU graduation is over hopefully I can be around a little more. Again Thank You to everyone out their pulling and praying for Brooke!
Daily Times Update
The Daily Times driver went by earlier today. I'm happy to report my yard wasn't littered with the paper. Maybe everyone who has the same problem I had needs to do what I did....call Greg up and tell him exactly how you feel about it.
Thanks!
Kimmie

Memorial Day
I have to express to you my utmost disappointment with our country over Memorial Day. I am responsible for creating three bulletin boards at my office. My idea was to use a patriotic theme for all three. So last week I thought that would be the perfect opportunity to hit some of the stores and I wouldn't have much difficulty finding patriotic decorations. I went to Walmart, K-Mart, Ben Franklin Crafts, Jo-Ann Fabrics and Target so far. Their selection was very limited. I was told by a Walmart employee, "Oh we don't really get in really good patriotic decorations until after the Memorial Day holiday". I stood their in shock. On Sunday I went to pick up a few things for a BBQ. Also I thought ok I'll look while I'm out for bulletin board decorations as well. I wanted a patriotic table cloth for the BBQ. At K-Mart the only oblong table cloth that they had, had hot dogs, hamburgers, mustard bottle, ketchup bottle etc. I was disgusted. They had one small section of patriotic decorations. What the heck is wrong with us? There were many memorial services yesterday. They had a good attendance at the one in Snow Hill. So to our Veterans I say thank you. To our retail outlets and people who didn't recognize our Veterans, SHAME ON YOU!!
Sincerely,
Beth

Republicans Love Their 2nd Amendment Rights
Senator Andy Harris, (Congressional Candidate) brought his Family to the Eastern Shore this past weekend to enjoy some republican fellowship and to take advantage of a shooting range where his children could get in some practice. Let me assure you of one thing Folks, these kids are excellent with a gun.
Other Young Republicans joined in and enjoyed shooting off rounds with all sorts of weapons. It seems to be a growing trend any more these days, especially since Granddad invited the young Democrats out to another local range a week ago and gave them a taste of shooting weapons they had never experienced before.
Hopefully in the near future we pull together everyone, Republicans and Democrats and meet out on my property in Willards and enjoy a day of shooting. Ammo is becoming quite expensive any more these days and it always amazes me how the price goes up and people desire it more. Go figure!
Places To Go In Wicomico County That Don't Cost A Penny
When you turn into the Henry Parker Sports Complex off Naylor Mill Road what you recognize most are the Ball Fields. This time of year they're loaded with Softball Teams and way in the back is LAX Fields and Soccer Fields.
However, hidden in the woods where no one would ever know it, is a BMX Bike Trail that is kept up and maintained by a group of enthusiasts and I have to tell you, it's one heck of a Trail!
If you want to take some time and experience something perhaps new and different, pack the bikes up and follow these instructions, they're pretty simple.
When you turn into the Sports Complex, take the road to the very end. Straight ahead, (where the road ends) is a very tall mound of dirt. Behind that dirt mound is where the Trail begins. Be sure to park your car in the parking lot and not the road.
Over time we have had newcomers to the Salisbury area asks what they can do with their children and or their time. This is one of them. It costs you nothing but we ask you respect what they have done here and you pick up any trash, even if its not your own. Not that you'll find any there because it's pretty much spotless. Just respect what they have done here and enjoy the trails.
Hopefully one of the people that go there regularly chimes in and lets us all know more about this area. It's great exercise and a beautiful and peaceful setting. Many BMX Riders also enjoyed trails around the City Park area and the City used to maintain them regularly but they have since slacked off and no one uses them any longer. This Park shown above shows you what you can have WITHOUT City/County funding, just like the upcoming Skate Park, it will more than likely excell because our local Government won't have their hands tied looking for funding.

Doomed Dealers Rap GM, Chrysler Quality
"Some jerk in Detroit who has ruined his company is going to say I'm an underperforming dealer?" said Jack Fitzgerald, owner of 13 dealerships in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Florida. "I've done nothing but grow every year for 43 years."
Three of his Maryland dealerships will lose their Chrysler franchises by June 9.
Rick Shaub, owner of Montrose Dodge in Germantown, said Chrysler LLC has been behind the curve for years. He owns a single dealership and is losing his franchise.
"They don't make cars people want. As far as I'm concerned, they're five years behind everybody else in quality, styling and everything else," he said. "If people don't want it, it doesn't matter who sells it."
Peter Kitzmiller, president of the Maryland Automobile Dealers Association, said the story is similar at General Motors Corp.
"I don't know a GM dealer in the country that has performed all that well, and it certainly has nothing to do with the dealer," he said. "The difference is the product."
Mr. Fitzgerald said he has been pressing the automakers to improve their consumer ratings for 20 years, and has letters from former GM Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagoner and former DaimlerChrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche to prove it.
"We're putting a lot of effort into increasing the reliability and quality of our vehicles, which we're expecting will result in ... even more favorable ratings from Consumer Reports," Mr. Zetsche wrote in a 2001 letter to Mr. Fitzgerald.
In the magazine's April issue, which includes rankings of 2009 models, Chrysler was the lowest-rated automaker. GM was second lowest."
SALISBURY: A LINE ITEM BUDGET THIS YEAR – NOT
Recall the talk during the election this Spring about the City having a line item budget once again? It looks like that won’t happen this time around. The budget bill that’s on the agenda for adoption at tonight’s City Council meeting does not list or mention line items or contain any reference to any itemization of the broad appropriation categories that are stated in the ordinance.
It’s the same form of budget that became standard with the election of the “Dream Team” in 2003. How do you like what’s happened to your property taxes since then?
