DON'T MISS 47 NEWS AGAIN AT 6:00 & 11:00 TONIGHT

WMDT will again be covering the Nolte Story again tonight with fresh updates. It's certainly worth watching.

Barrie Tilghman - Where Did the Water Go?

Annexation after annexation, rezoning after rezoning, developers have been promised water and sewer capacity. Each and every time Salisbury residents were told that there was plenty of water to be had.

Over the years, Salisbury resident Dot Truitt asked a simple question - "How can the free capacity numbers be staying the same when you keep promising water and sewer to developers?". Now Barrie Tilghman and her council lackeys are attempting to cover up a serious problem with some emergency legislation.

Where did the water go Barrie? Read More ...

How's That Crime Situation Working Out For You Chiefy?

Remember the Trailer in the back of Lowe's the other day with Graffiti on it? Well, here we go again! Remember now, this is the same area the prostitute was murdered in and the Chief of the Salisbury Police Department TRIED to pass the murder off on the Sheriff's Department, even though it was in the City Limits.

Nevertheless, the Gangs are marking their territory right in the face of the Salisbury Police Department and you know what, they're winning. The pictures don't lie Folks. I'll bet those cameras on the Plaza are working just fine for you though, right Chiefy?

I've said it in the past and I'll repeat it again, this guy SUCKS at what he does. Remember Folks, a MURDERER is still on the streets and hasn't been caught yet. There's also been no update on that murder as well. Oh, that's right, it will go away now because the Daily Times isn't printing anything more about it. I forgot, that's how it works around here.

Actually, now that Salisbury News is around, things are changing quite a bit accountability wise, wouldn't you agree?

Comments

One of the greatest signs a Blog is doing well is the comments. As I have stated in the past, ever since I toned things down on here, I have been deleting/rejecting a ton of comments. The average of such is about a hundred per day.

That being said, let me give you an idea of how well the comments have been coming in just over the past 72 hours.

On Tuesday we had 283 comments. Wednesday we had 256 comments and up until 11:00 AM today we've already received and accepted 96 comments. I want to thank ALL of you for participating each day and sharing your thoughts.

You see, Barrie Tilghman, Mike Dunn, Gary Comegys, Lynn Cathcart and Shanie Shields called us the Dirty Dozen. Heck, the comments alone clearly show that's just NOT the case at all. The thousands upon thousands of people visiting this Site every day are becoming more comfortable knowing they will not only NOT be known as to who they are, they're feeling more comfortable sharing their opinions without fear of retaliation.

If you have something to say, please do. Blogger will never give out your information to someone like Barrie Tilghman unless you threaten to harm someone and I post it. You have every right to share your thoughts and this is what made America so great.

So thanks for the support everyone and thanks for sharing your opinion. This Administration needs to know we're a force to be reckoned with and that force shouldn't be just Joe Albero. It should be about all of you.

Oh, and for those people who want to claim I'm the one posting all these comments, get a life! I am FAR too busy to play that game, hence the 25 to 30 posts per day, the moderation of comments all day and night and then going out, getting the stories, taking pictures, writing the stories, well, you get my drift. I'M WAY TOO BUSY FOR THAT!

The Opportunity Shop

I walked out my door moments ago and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the line of people waiting to get into the Opportunity Shop. The other day they had pants for .50 cents a pair and obviously they're holding yet another big sale.

If you've never been there, they have a ton of great deals. Forgive me if I'm repeating myself but a friend of mine told me recently that he has a friend who has NEVER shopped in a clothing store in her entire life. She shops at stores like this and has always worn designer clothing her entire life. Most of which still had the tags still on them.

People tend to grow larger and have a ton of clothing in their closets that end up in shops just like this one. So if you have the time, drop in and visit them and see for yourself just how great this little secret shop actually is.

Fundraiser For Local Delmar Resident

"Joe,

I am writing to you to bring attention to an event that is scheduled to take place in Delmar on October 18th. Before I get into that, I would like to congratulate you on the success of your blog site. I first became aware of your blog when I was working for a contractor on the 500 Riverside Drive shoreline project. I’ll admit I was taken back by your brief report on the jobsite at that current time, but I understood what you were trying to do. It’s all about accountability as you so often state and that is something that the City lacks tremendously. I was a student at the University from 2000 to 2003 and remained in Salisbury for four years after completing my degree. I moved last spring and have been living in Baltimore (working in Northern VA and Montgomery Co. for a commercial contracting company) for the past year and a half, but I still read your blog every morning and on my lunch break. I like to keep up on the REAL news in Salisbury, as it is my intention to eventually move back to the area. Enough of the background…and again you are turning out quite an amazing product that allows everyday citizens to more fully realize how much their voices need to be heard.

A very close friend of mine received life changing news a year ago about her father’s men tal health condition. He was only a year into retirement from a career at Delmar High School, and it appeared that he was in the first stages of Alzheimer’s disease. After many trips to the local hospitals and eventually Baltimore hospitals it was determined that his condition was worse than the doctor’s had originally thought. He had developed Pick’s Disease, a very uncommon disease that reverses an individual’s mental capacity and eventually leads to death. This man has a loving family who would like to bring awareness to the disease and help provide funding for more research, as there is no medicine/treatment available to cure or slow its progression.

You can visit the Association for Frontotemporal Dementia (AFTD) for more information
http://www.ftd-picks.org

The family and friends are organizing a 5k/fun-run at Delmar High School on October 18th of this year. The man and his family have been lifelong Delmar, DE residents and are well known in the town. The date, course and basic ideas have already been decided. At this time we are trying to decided registration fees, pledge amounts, sponsorship, etc. I would like to ask you if it would be possible to post an advertisement on your blog regarding this event once=2 0all the pieces are put together in proper form.

Please let me know if you would be interested in providing space on your blog and helping to bring awareness to the masses that you are able to reach on a daily basis.

Sincerely,

Ryan Mitchell"

I've got a feeling there will be a lot of these seen around town over the next few months.

Another Pet Owner Speaks Out, HELP!

"Distraught Pet Owner

I am writting to notify ALL pet owners of some very disturbing information regarding a local Veterinary Office.

Recently one of our animals died while in the care of Dr. Nolte @ Chesapeake Animal CLinic, after a very normal, routine procedure. Since this, we have heard from several other pet owners that their pets have also died in his care either during or after a routine procedure. Several of which have pursued it further legally.

Although at this time we have no intention of pursuing it legally, we have contacted the State Bd of Veterinary Examiners. They have informed us that in order for them to proceed further, and look into his practice ALL complaints/concerns MUST be submitted in writting to their main office in Annapolis.

WBOC & WMDT are both looking in to this now as well. One of these stations is even meeting with Dr. Runde (head of the Veterinary Examiners Office today). If this is something that happens while in his care on a regular basis then we need to act in order to have his office closed.

Please, if you have had ANY trouble with your pet while in the care of Chesapeake Animal Clinic send your concern/complaint to: MD State Dept. Bd of Veterinary Examiners, 50 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis MD 21401. You can reach them by phone @ 410.841.5862. You can also fax your complaint to 410.841.5999 Attn: Dr. Runde.

Thank you all for your time & support!"

Ben's Red Swings

"Hi Joe,

I got the nerve to take my Grandson to the city park and to "Ben's red swings"....hoping things had improved !!!!! BIG MISTAKE!!!
The portable pottys right outside the entrance to the swings smelled so bad and obviously had not be cleaned recently. Inside the play area was just as bad....yes people need to pick up their own trash, but that is why you have city workers to do the rest! there was bottles, cans, fast food wrappers everywhere. The cigarette butts at the swing entrance was unexcusable! What is wrong with people?

This is the once beautiful "misting area" for the kids at the swings...now it is a leaking, slimey mess. Nice, huh?"

"I makes my heart happy to know that people DO really care. It is not my intention whatsoever to hurt/ruin anyone's life. But WE are our pet's voices. PERIOD. Old Quantico Road Property

Dear Joe,

I would like to thank you for posting the Wicomico Cty Sheriffs Press releases. It makes me feel better knowing this man is locked up... but for how long?

I would like to thank the Wicomico County Sheriff Dept.for handling this situation. The people that are responsible for the Quantico Rd property live out of state. The sheriff deputies have called them at least twice and have been checking this house for criminal activity. What this man and possibly other unknowns have done to the
property is unbelievable. All the screens and storm window have been torn off the house for the aluminum. A huge compressor that heated and air conditioned one of the buildings has been completely dismantled, hauled off and all that remains is the concrete pad. Glass in windows and doors have been broken out... This house has
been torn to shreds.

A vacant house in SBY is asking for this type of activity. I really appreciate the deputies staying on this till they found the guy. With as much crime as there is in SBY I am truly lucky. I hope the lady who was assaulted in her own home finds relief soon. Salisbury has drifted from the way it used to be but as long as the
citizens put up with this kind of stuff it will continue.

City readies warehouse for mass DNC Arrests

New lockup has chain-link cages, stun-gun warnings By Tillie Fong, Rocky Mountain News

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Some protesters arrested at the Democratic National Convention could be jailed in a city- owned warehouse, complete with metal cages and barbed wire, CBS4 News has learned.

Investigative reporter Rick Sallinger discovered the location and managed to get inside Tuesday for a look. The newly created lockup, in a warehouse northeast of Denver, contains dozens of metal cages made of chain-link fence material, topped by rolls of barbed wire.

Each of these fenced-in areas is about 15 feet by 15 feet, with a lock on the door.

A sign on the wall reads "Warning, electric stun devices used in this facility."

Sallinger showed video of the warehouse to Adam Jung of Tent State University and Zoe Williams of Code Pink, leaders of groups that plan to demonstrate during the convention. "This is very bare-bones and very reminiscent of a political prisoner camp or a concentration camp," Williams said.

"That's how you treat cattle," Jung siad. "You showed the sign where it said stun gun in use. And you just change the word gun for bolt, and it's a meat-processing plant."

The Denver Sheriff's Department would not discuss the facility. Instead, the sheriff's department said late Tuesday the mayor's office would be releasing a statement about it early next week.

"We're going to tell you about it," said Capt. Frank Gale, of the sheriff's department. "We're going to have the community and the media come out and view the place ."

John White, spokesman for Denver police, said Tuesday he could not comment until after he has a chance to consult with convention officials. The American Civil Liberties Union said it will ask the city of Denver how prisoners will get access to food and water, bathrooms, telephones and medical care, and if there will be a place to meet with attorneys.

Mayor Tilghman Soft On Criminals

Mayor Tilghman is on the front page of the "rag" talking about how the FBI isn't jumping at her request to crucify all those involved in the drill academy. Those poor innocent children were tortured there so much that the facility was forced to close. Her and her lap dog, Chiefy, are in an all out war to take on Nelms, Van Meter and anyone else related to the place.
Now give yourself pause for thought. How tough on crime is she and her "dog?" I'll bet the Lake Lady would have some words for those two.
I don't know about the rest of you out there, but I remember puddling's in school. In the room or out, with those big wooden paddles. The gym teacher in particular used to love to wind up and really get his groove on whoever's rear end that needed it. Heck, I even remember one teacher that jacked a kid up in class and almost punched him in the face before another teacher came to calm the situation down. Back then you had a healthy respect for your teacher and the rest of the adults you interacted with during the day. Not any more.
So instead of getting so aggravated that she hasn't been able to destroy one of her advisories lives the way she did with Colbourne Dykes; perhaps she and her dog need to focus on the real issue here. Getting tougher on criminals. That way we wouldn't have any more Lake Ladies living in fear.

Smokers Need To Act More Responsible

If you're going to smoke, act more responsible, will you? This was taken next to the Health Department Building on Main Street in Downtown Salisbury. Do you really want Salisbury looking like the Bronx in New York?

The Uptown Chef

There are not many great eateries in the Downtown area but the Uptown Chef serves a great lunch and is very convenient to many of the businesses Downtown. If you haven't been there, give them a try.

The Old Courthouse Needs Some Freshening Up

I recently passed the old Courthouse and noticed the paint on the building was starting to chip away.

You may not think this is important but it's things like this that have caused many of the structures at the Salisbury Zoo to fall apart based on the lack of normal upkeep.

That being said, taxpayers often wonder why Municipalities deny certain donations and while they may be really decent offers, like playgrounds or even a building at a park, that municipality must maintain it down the road and upkeep can become very expensive, if not properly maintained.

Another perfect example and controversial item is the Stand Pipe in Salisbury. There's much talk about that structure and maintaining it or tearing it down. While many cry out to keep this old structure, many also don't recognize that in this economy, it may also not be affordable to do so. One or two people wanting to keep the history going on it isn't a large portion of the taxpayers who will ultimately be responsible for paying to keep it nice.

Anyhow, while the weather is nice, the County should get someone up there to at least put some primer paint on this wood to keep it from rotting.

Close Call!

Having an Office on the Downtown Plaza allows me to see an incredible amount of handicap people. You'd be amazed at just how many come to the Plaza each and every day. I personally would never have believed it if someone told me there's 20 people a day in these kind of carts.

That being said, I saw one earlier where the guy had reflectors on it and an orange flag to the rear of it. It stood out and he seemed very respectful.

Then comes this guy. Notice how he's part way into the road. That's Mill Street and everyone knows that the lane he's already in is the right hand lane with not a lot of room to move one way or the other. This guy didn't care. You can also tell from the photo that people were in fact going through the light while it was green and this guy was pulling out on a red light.

With the increase of these carts showing up everywhere, no flag on the back and pulling out in front of the vehicle legally waiting for the light to change, someone is going to get hurt. The laws need to change because quite frankly, I don't want to be one of the people challenged, God Forbid someone pulls out in front of me and I hit them by accident. It could be forever life changing and I don't want that kind of accident, nor would you.

Ghosts At The Salisbury/Wicomico County Library?

Hello Joe and the SbyNews personnel (staff of one Ha)

Something going on at the library is very interesting to me and is an
alternative of TV for part of a night.

Ed Okonowicz is a professional writer, speaker and story teller. He is
"appearing" at the Wicomico Library this Friday at 7pm. His non fiction books
included a series of about 8 volumes of stories he has researched and some he
has investigated about haunted areas, objects and houses in the Northeastern US.
Included in the "hauntings" is a collection of folklore and great little facts
about our area.

Two things have struck me about this man when I have seen him speak. He is an
incrediably nice and easy to speak to person and his knowledge is as wide as his
skill as a story teller. He can address and audience like no other I have seen.
I had him come to a college that is in a neighboring state and speak.

Unknowingly the audience was peppered with people who were not happy about him
talking about ghost. When the "rude" questions started he answered them and
changed the subject matter from ghost tales to the history of story telling. He
is a professional and real fun to listen to.

He has written two fiction books that I have really enjoyed. I am not a big
reader and murder mysteries were never my number on choice but Ed's story lines
and local insight give a very unique approach to the Eastern Shore. His books
are for sale at various place but they are also free from the library.

I want to share this information and I ask that if you could spread the word it
would be great I think it is well worth going to.

Thank you once again and I hope this finds you, your family and four legged well
