City Of Crisfield Ghost Tour February 21, 2010

Tour given by Mindie Burgoyne, author of Haunted Eastern Shore: Ghostly Tales from East of the Chesapeake

MARION STATION, MD
(February 9, 2010) – The small waterfront town of Crisfield, Maryland will be the site of Mindie Burgoyne’s first haunted tour. Burgoyne’s successful book, Haunted Eastern Shore drew so much interest from ghost hunters and ghost-story lovers that she has agreed –at the request of her readers - to do a ghost tour. She chose a location out of her book - the town closest to where she lives - Crisfield. This tour will feature the two Crisfield sites mentioned in Haunted Eastern Shore – the Ananias Crocket House and the Ira Todd House - as well as McCready Hospital, the Corbin Library and several private homes in the Crisfield area. Additionally, the tour will offer personal testimony from a Crisfield home owner who experienced paranormal activity in her hundred-year-old home.

The tour begins with guests meeting at the Crisfield Visitors Center where they will board a bus that will transport them to the J. Millard Tawes Library. There Burgoyne will give a short presentation about sites on the tour. “I like to include more history than spookiness or sensationalism” Burgoyne states. “I’d rather give the historic background on the site itself, then offer a little bit about the legends and haunted tales associated it. And then add, if possible, what people say today about the site being haunted or being host to unexplained events.” After the presentation, guests will board the bus and drive to each of the haunted sites where Burgoyne will offer commentary. Guests will not leave the bus or tour sites on foot, and will return to the Visitors Center by 4:30 pm. The Cove Restaurant has agreed to provide three dinner choices (at $10) for guests that would like to stay after the tour and network with other “ghost enthusiasts.”

Mindie Burgoyne has been able to attract over 3000 fans to her Facebook Fan Page for Haunted Eastern Shore. She attributes the interest in the ghost tours and the unexpected success of the book (first printing sold out in five weeks) to her ability to build up the fan base through social media. She sees the spin-off successes, like the ghost tours as a result of enthusiastic fans being able to interact with each other on a topic they’re crazy about. “Fans have been organizing their own tours to the sites mentioned in the book, and I’ve had several requests to guide a ghost tour, so the Crisfield tour is the test. If this one is successful, we’ll do more” says Burgoyne. Towns she’s considering for future ghost tours are Ocean City, Cambridge, Salisbury, Snow Hill and possibly Quantico

The Crisfield tour is being co-sponsored by the Crisfield Heritage Foundation and The Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Cost per person is $15 and advanced registration is required. Seating is limited to forty people, and nearly half the spots are already sold.

A downloadable registration form can be found at http://www.writingthevision.com/crisfieldtour.pdf. Dinner at the Cove Restaurant is optional ($10). For additional information on signing up for the tour email esghosttours@gmail.com

Can we get a priest to volunteer to step forward for the exorcism ritual.

Craziest thing I've ever heard of. I would be more afraid of the people that signed up for this then I would of the ghost.
