TROOPERS INVESTIGATE SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH

On February 4, 2010 at 9:16 pm, Troopers from the Salisbury Barrack of the Maryland State Police responded to the North Bound Salisbury Bypass Prior to Rt. 13 Business in reference to a single car crash. Upon arrival, Troopers learned that the driver of a Dodge Neon lost control on a curve, left the roadway and struck several trees. The driver of the Neon, Cassi Lynn Henderson, 19, of Parsonsburg, was removed from the vehicle by EMS personnel and transported to PRMC with non life threatening injuries. Henderson was charged with negligent driving.

The MSM Targets Toyota

While the Unites States Government bails out American Auto Makers, how can the United States put a hurting on those who are doing well. Just get your Pals throughout the Main Stream Media, (MSM) to bash Toyota day in and day out in the hopes of helping GM and the likes to recover that much quicker, that's how.

However, just to spite our government I'm going to take one of my new American Made vehicles up to Toyota tomorrow, trade it in and purchase a brand new Toyota. I happen to think what they're doing is complete BS.

For the last two days I have watched the MSM go on and on about how this is helping boost sales for American made products and quite frankly, not only am I not buying it, I won't buy it.

I have always purchased all different kinds of makes and models ranging from Ford, Chrysler/Dodge, Pontiac, Toyota, (GM) Mercedes and BMW. With 15 cars on my property right now, Toyota will now get my business once again.

I don't know about you but I could see this coming for at least six months now. Tonight one of the major networks presented a whistle blower, a former Toyota attorney, (leave it to an attorney to break attorney/client privileges) to spill the beans, allegedly. This guy reminds me of the father of Balloon Boy.

Nevertheless, I'm not falling for this crap. Toyota makes, (by far) the most reliable vehicles in the world. Even WBOC started playing the game by posting their poll question in the hopes of driving customers away from Toyota. I wonder what kind of personal cars their management/staff drives. My guess would be Toyota's. In fact, I know they do!

So Mr. Obama, you just lost a $40,000.00 purchase from this Americans household simply because I think you and your party are full of crap. Maybe we'll see you in about 250,000 miles or so, but I doubt it.

Maryland Senate Moves to Ban the Guns

Well folks, Maryland legislators are at it again. Not satisfied with our current "assault pistol ban", Senator Mike Lennett (D(of course)) District 19 Montgomery County has introduced the Maryland Assault Weapon Ban of 2010. I haven't had a chance to read the bill word for word, but the summary that's contained on the link I've posted below describes a bill that's poised to ban everything near and dear to my heart in the firearm realm. Gun bans are an assault on freedom. Even if you think military firearms are scary and uneccesary, understand that ANY encroachment of 2nd Amendment rights is an attack on ALL 2nd Amendment rights. The people that introduce these bills hate guns and want them all taken away. Click the link below to see what you can do to stop this bill from becoming law.

From www.ammoland.com :

SB516 Facts:

1.Expands the definition of the assault pistol ban to encompass all firearms designated as assault weapons.
2.Anything determined to be a copycat of the named firearms would be included. Given the Maryland State Police’s very liberal interpretation of what constitutes a copycat, we see this list encompassing any firearm that meets the required criteria of looking scary.
3.Includes semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines that also have threaded barrels.
4.Includes semi-automatic shotguns with folding or telescoping stocks that also have a pistol grip or thumbhole stock
5.Bans forward pistol grips.
6.You must REGISTER your firearms before December 10, 2010 so that you have the luxury of being able to keep the firearms you already own.
7.Naturally, this bill does not apply to governmental agencies, but they do give you the option of rendering your firearm permanently inoperable.

Everyone who values their Second Amendment Rights should act by calling your legislators. Annapolis should expect a pushback from the Eastern Shore.

Today's Survey Question

Do You Think Joe Holloway Should Run For County Executive? Yes or No...
Joe, We would be interested in knowing how much interest the voters in Wicomico County have for Mr. Joe Holloway running against Rick Pollitt in the next election. We would have a self made man, business person running for a position for the betterment of all the taxpayers.
Against a politician who thrives on spending money and don't listen to the taxpayers. He has lots of education and look where that has got us.

How'd Kratovil Vote?

House Votes to Hike Debt Limit

The House of Representatives Thursday voted to raise the debt limit by $1.9 trillion. That vote raises the debt ceiling to $14.3 trillion, a new high for the amount of debt the U.S. has ever carried.

Are You Ready?

Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia, you are going to get the worst of this winter storm. It will set in later Friday then really go to town Friday night into Saturday morning. Snow accumulations along this portion of the I-95 corridor will be upwards of a foot, and there could be more. Later Friday night and Saturday morning, the wind will grow stronger causing the snow to blow around quite a bit.

The factors behind this major winter event are shown here. The jet stream is diving southward where it is scooping up a lot of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Atlantic moisture will eventually be added to the mix.

Friday, the storm will begin to thrust all of that moisture into the much colder stream of air to the north. The result will be billions upon billions of snowflakes from the Midwest to the Eastern Seaboard. The heavily populated areas of the mid-Atlantic region can expect the worst of the storm from later Friday through Saturday morning.

(Just for something to do during the storm, try to picture those billions and billions of snowflakes as the billions and billions of dollars that were spent on the Stimulus package-- the snowflakes will probably be more effective, because they will put a lot more people to work.. :-)

The track of the storm will determine where the 'freeze line' is-- much of Delmarva south of Delmar may see mostly mixed/rain (though heavy, for sure), with some accumulation, but we won't know for sure till the storm is almost here.

Be prepared for major travel delays and closings, and be sure you're ready for whatever comes.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

There won't be much time for any breathers in this pattern. A major storm is about to cause a traffic-snarling snowfall in the mid-Atlantic region, and as soon as that one leaves, our attention will have to focus on the next one.

That second system will take shape over the South Central states Sunday night and Monday, then it will come quickly eastward. It could produce another substantial snowfall in the same area that will be getting heavy snow Friday into Saturday. Plus, the storm next Tuesday-Wednesday could spread up into New England, the region that has missed out on recent storms.

Obama Picks Another Fight He Can't Win

President Obama has adopted a new kind of bipartisanship -- daring Republicans to offer their policy views so that he can discredit them.

You might call it punching-bag bipartisanship. The president and his party believe that by eliciting Republican policy ideas they can remind Americans how much they hate the GOP.

Obama now says he is not going to let Republicans "sit on the sidelines" while Democrats are stuck trying to solve problems.

It's a big shift from last year, when his theme in dealing with the GOP was summed up in a favorite line from his stump speech for Democratic candidates: "I don't want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking."

The Left believes voters have soured on Democrats because Americans have forgotten the awfulness of GOP policies.

In truth, voters tossed out the GOP because of arrogance, incompetence and corruption. It was not the policy, it was the people.

In Case You Thought They Were Actually Doing Something

A top official in the Obama administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency said that the move away from work-site raids has reduced the number of illegal aliens who have been arrested and led to the release of many of those who had been detained.

David Venturella, acting director of the Office of Detention and Removal Operations with ICE, which is a part of the Department of Homeland Security, made the remarks at an event at the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.

“I think there have been very few operations that have generated arrests of undocumented workers,” Venturella said at the event, which was held to mark the release of an Urban Institute report on the children of illegal aliens who are arrested for being in the country illegally, including some sought for criminal violations. “And in most cases, even though they were small scale, we follow our administrative guidelines on how to deal with individuals once they are arrested and placed in our custody.”

“And in many of those instances, they were released or placed on some form of alternative detention,” Venturella said. “So we will continue to proceed that way, at least under this administration.”

In Case You Thought They Were Actually Doing Something..(Part 2)

An ambitious, $6.7 billion government project to secure nearly the entire Mexican border with a "virtual fence" of cameras, ground sensors and radar is in jeopardy after a string of technical glitches and delays, and this week President Obama proposed cutting $189 million from the venture.

Having spent $672 million so far with little to show for it, Washington has ordered a reassessment of the whole idea.

Ultimately, the project could be scaled back dramatically, with the government installing virtual fences along a few segments of the nation's 2,000-mile southern boundary but dropping plans for any further expansion, officials said.

"The worst that happens is that we have a system which gives us some value but we conclude that it's not worth buying any more of it," said Mark Borkowski, the government's director of the project at U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Delaware Electric Cooperative Winter Storm Preparedness Information And Checklist

Winter Storm Preparedness

GREENWOOD—With a significant amount of snow in the forecast for most of Delaware tomorrow and Saturday, Delaware Electric Cooperative wants to remind everyone that preparing for a power outage during winter storms is extremely important.

In the event of a severe storm impacting our area, customers are encouraged to follow these storm preparation recommendations to help ensure their family’s safety and comfort.

Never touch or go near fallen wires, even if you think they are safe. Parents can use this opportunity to remind children that wires are dangerous. If you are in a vehicle that comes in contact with a downed wire, stay in your vehicle until help arrives.

Make sure you have a working battery powered radio or TV and a good supply of fresh replacement batteries. Also, have flashlights available for all family members.

If an electric pump supplies your water, fill spare food-grade containers with water for cooking and washing in anticipation of a possible power interruption.

Make sure motor driven devices such as garage door openers, can be operated manually.

Have a first aid kit available at home and check its contents to make sure it is complete and up to date. If family members with special medical needs, such as insulin or other prescription drugs, check to make sure you have an adequate supply.

Keep the refrigerator door closed. Food will keep several hours in a closed refrigerator and up to two days in a freezer. If you must open the door, be quick!

If you have an elderly neighbor, be a Good Samaritan and check on their status. Even a quick telephone call during a storm can provide much appreciated assurance that help is nearby if needed.

“You can never be too prepared for an outage during a winter storm,” said Rob Book, spokesman for the Delaware Electric Cooperative. “However, if you have the basic essentials prepared in an outage kit, stored in an easy to locate place, this can make all the difference should they be needed,” Book continued.

Outage Kits should consist of the following items:

Flashlights
Batteries
First Aid Kit
Paper plates, cups and plastic utensils
Battery operated radio or TV
Extra blankets or sleeping bags
Stored water
Portable fire extinguisher
Candles and matches
Canned goods or easily prepared foods
Can opener
Necessary prescription drugs
SAFETY FIRST!

Wicomico County Sheriff's Office Press Releases

Incident: Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute
Date of Incident: 3 February 2010
Location: 1000 block of East Road, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Damien L. Showell, 27, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 3 February 2010 at 10:00 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle operated by Damien Showell for inoperative brake lights across the street from Salisbury Middle School. The deputy became suspicious of Showell because of an overwhelming odor of raw marijuana that emanated from within his vehicle. While the deputy was investigating Showell and waiting for another deputy to arrive, Showell exited his vehicle and began running towards Morris Street. The deputy pursued Showell and caught him after a brief foot chase. Upon apprehension, the deputy discovered that Showell had concealed a substantial sized bag of marijuana in his sleeve. Further investigation of Showell’s vehicle revealed a supply of empty sandwich sized baggies and a separate baggie that held loose Xanax tablets.

Based on the amount of marijuana recovered and the empty baggies, it appeared evident that Showell intended to sell his supply. The deputy transported Showell to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Showell in the Detention Center in lieu of $300,000.00 bond.

Charges: Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute
Possession of Xanax with the Intent to Distribute
Possession of Marijuana and Xanax with the Intent to Distribute in a School Zone

'Permission' Needed To Kill U.S. Terrorists

The U.S. intelligence community policy on killing American citizens who have joined al Qaeda requires first obtaining high-level government approval, a senior official disclosed to Congress on Wednesday.

Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair said in each case a decision to use lethal force against a U.S. citizen must get special permission.

"We take direct actions against terrorists in the intelligence community," he said. "If we think that direct action will involve killing an American, we get specific permission to do that."

He also said there are criteria that must be met to authorize the killing of a U.S. citizen that include "whether that American is involved in a group that is trying to attack us, whether that American is a threat to other Americans. Those are the factors involved."

Rep. Peter Hoekstra, Michigan Republican and ranking member of the House intelligence committee, asked Mr. Blair about the policy of targeting American citizens at a hearing. It was the first time there was public discussion about one of the most sensitive U.S. counterterrorism policies.

BofA, Ex-CEO Lewis Charged With Fraud

N.Y.'s Cuomo alleges bank misled investors about Merrill Lynch deal

NEW YORK
- New York's attorney general charged Bank of America Corp , former Chief Executive Kenneth Lewis and former Chief Financial Officer Joe Price with fraud for allegedly misleading shareholders about the bank's acquisition of Merrill Lynch & Co.

Separately, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said the largest U.S. bank agreed to pay a $150 million civil fine and strengthen disclosure and corporate governance to settle its two lawsuits alleging poor disclosure of Merrill's losses and bonus payouts. The accord requires court approval.

Invoking a powerful state law used to combat securities fraud, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo filed a civil lawsuit on Thursday accusing Bank of America, Lewis and Price of intentionally failing to disclose massive losses at Merrill prior to a December 5 shareholder vote on the merger.

Kenyan native argues for second time to remain in U.S. for medical reasons

BOSTON
- President Barack Obama's African aunt showed up in a wheelchair Thursday for a hearing before a Boston judge to argue she should be allowed to stay in the United States.

The heavily-guarded hearing for Kenya native Zeituni Onyango had started in U.S. Immigration Court and was closed to the public.

During a break, the 56-year-old left the hearing room for a few minutes, walking with her cane as her lawyer held her arm. Dressed in black pants and a red turtleneck sweater, Onyango walked slowly and smiled at the line of media waiting for the presidential relative.

FOP Loses Appeal Against Wicomico County

The Fraternal Order of Police challenged Wicomico County in a recent appeal on collective bargaining lost their case on Feb. 1, 2010.

The Court of Special Appeals stated the Charter Amendment was unconstitutional as well as the Legislative Bill.

While Wicomico County Taxpayers voted to give Collective Bargaining to the FOP, the language their attorneys provided was not legal and it was wise for your County Executive as well as County Council to reject their proposal while representing YOU the Taxpayer.

Its time to go back to the drawing board and start fresh. Once the language is fair for ALL parties involved I'm confident your elected officials will agree to the proper language and intent.

More to come, I'm sure.......

Whitehouse Crashers, The Rest Of The Story

This, my AMERICAN friends, is a very, very MUST READ!! (What have we gotten ourselves into?)

Remember the couple who supposedly crashed the W. H. State Dinner? They took the 5th Amendment this week in a Congressional Hearing. After you've read this e-mail you'll understand why.

Below is a detailed breakdown of their past relationships and influence. It is very interesting.

Verify here that this e-mail is true:

www.snopes.com/politics/obama/photos/crashers.asp

I knew there had to be a "Paul Harvey" version to this story. See the white guy in the white suit? Now see the blond in the white dress? See the guy in the middle.

This picture was taken June 9, 2005. It seems that Obama has known these two phonies for awhile, at least from the time he was a Senator. They're getting all the press now as being "party crashers" and the secret service is taking the fall. Funny how this hasn't come out in the press.

No wonder the couple who crashed Obama's recent State dinner keep insisting they were invited guests. They know Barry from way back when he was still an Illinois Senator. Is Obama trying to throw the Secret Service under the bus?

Tareq and Michaele Salahi snapped the pic above with Obama at a "Rock The Vote" event on June 9, 2005 (also attended by John McCain.with whom the Salahi's also took a pic). McCain won an award for his work on campaign finance reform. Obama won an award for "forming a multiracial coalition in winning his seat."

Michaele Salahi is getting quite a ribbing in the press for lying about being a Redskins cheerleader, but Tareq is the more interesting of the two to me. He has ties to Palestinian terrorists. Tareq is a board member of the (ATFP) American Task Force on Palestine, which has quickly scrubbed it's site of the fact. Thank the Lord for Google cache.

And just who are the ATFP? The ATFP has ties to Chicago, ties to Muslim radicals, ties to Hamas, and ties to Saudi Wahhabists. It is arguably the American wing of Hamas. The group's co-founder is Rashid Khalidi, the guy purported to have helped finance Obama's Harvard education and who was also instrumental in getting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak at Columbia University .

During the Beruit war, Khalidi was a PLO spokesperson. After the war, he came back to teach at the University of Chicago. He is a virulent critic of Israel, and [was] a strong supporter of Fatah terrorist Yassar Arafat.. Obama has referred to Khalidi as someone who challenges his "own biases."

Why do the same dubious tentacles seem to continually surround Obama?

The fact that the ATFP is scrubbing information on Salahi from their website suggests possible damage control coordination between the ATFP and the White House. If the ATFP was acting independently, there would be no reason to scrub Salahi's name from their site.

It looks like Salahi was an invited guest to the dinner, that he was "outed," and the administration had to come up with a rational excuse for his presence. Now the Salahis want to sell their story. They are a little broke these days, but they still live VERY high on the hog.

The Secret Service has already apologized for the incident, but they may clear their names if the Salahis start singing... If someone with ties to the American wing of Hamas can get face-to-face with the President without the Secret Service realizing it., that is a major security lapse. However, if Obama's staff knowingly allowed the Salahi couple in and are now throwing the Secret Service under the bus to cover themselves, that would be a major scandal.

The call for an immediate Congressional inquiry is pretty obvious.

Something is VERY fishy in this White House,

AND THE SMELL GETS WORSE EVERY DAY!

Lost Dog

Hey Joe,

I was wondering if you could post this for me? My kids took the dog outside last night to do her business and her collar broke. This being said she took off and we have been unable to find her. She is a black lab mix (mostly black with a bit of white) guessing around 70 pounds and is skittish. She was lost in the Siloam/Allen area off Walnut Tree Rd. She could be anywhere in the Allen Rd , Smith rd ,Walnut Tree Rd, Campground rd area. IF anyone sees her or has her would they please call me at 443-235-9642. She has an ear infection that she is going to miss her vet appointment. (maybe that's why she took off). Thanks for the help Joe.

Eric The Downtown Barber Says, Business Is Just Fine On The Plaza

"SALISBURY -- Downtown business owners could lose potential customers for a second weekend in a row if wintry weather conditions persist" says the Daily Times.

Not according to Eric Ludwig, owner of the Downtown Plaza Barber Shop. In fact, he left early from Delmar to get into work Saturday morning during the big snow storm. He had customers in his Shop all day.

Eric explained how he paid someone $20.00 to shovel out his store font. "Its a part of doing business."

While some other business owners complained about the lack of snow removal Downtown, others cleared the way themselves to make sure they didn't lose any customers.

Mayor Ireton said, "I assume we're taking care of that," he said. "Once the snow started, my attention went to clearing the main roads; I had to prioritize." I happen to agree with the Mayor.

I'm sorry Folks but this is how government keeps growing. If business owners depend on local government to clear out snow, will they depend on the WWTP to clear out a clogged toilet next?

We're told the photo in the Daily Times today was staged. One witness stated that the photographer had a woman go back and step into the snow so they could take a picture. "There's one little section that had additional snow in it and the photographer asked the woman to stand in it." He went on to say, "It was staged."

Are Rick Pollitt's Priorties In Line?

On Tuesday, February 2nd, the Wicomico County Council held a public hearing complete with Rick Pollitt's fancy power point slide show selling us on buying the very expensive proposal to purchase the "old mall" parking lot for $300,000/acre for the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center at an initial cost of 1.5 million dollars from "free" state money. As usual, Rick was strangely absent from the meeting and was absent during the public comments previously posted here. It seems he is so concerned about what the public input is regarding the decision he decided to go visit his pal in Annapolis and be a VIP for Gov. O'Malley's State of the State address.

So, Pollitt attends the State of the State Address rather than being at a public hearing on spending $1,500,000 dollars on a new parking lot in Wicomico County?

Really?

Come to think of it, I think I've seen him attend two council meetings in this last year and one was for his budget where he sat in the back of the room and the other he had to cut out early for lunch.

Did anyone else notice this Public hearing didn't re-air on PAC-14 as scheduled, on Wednesday night?

Stewart Tells O’Reilly He’s Voice Of Sanity On Fox

‘Daily Show’ star trades good-natured barbs with host on ‘O’Reilly Factor’

NEW YORK
- Comic Jon Stewart told Bill O’Reilly that the “no spin zone” ringleader had become the voice of sanity on Fox News Channel, although “that’s like being the thinnest kid at fat camp.”

The host of “The Daily Show” and Fox’s kingpin exchanged some good-natured shots Wednesday during Stewart’s appearance on a network he relishes mocking. Stewart tossed off jokes but also criticized Fox for being a “cyclonic perpetual motion machine” opposing President Barack Obama.

“They have taken reasonable concerns about this president and this economy and turned it into a full-fledged panic attack about the next coming of Chairman Mao,” Stewart said.

Jobless Claims Unexpectedly Rose Last Week

Report showed initial claims increased by 8,000; rise was 4th in 5 weeks

The number of newly laid-off workers filing initial claims for jobless benefits rose unexpectedly last week, evidence that layoffs are continuing and jobs remain scarce.

The rise is the fourth in the past five weeks. Most economists hoped that claims would resume a downward trend that was evident in the fall and early winter.

The Labor Department said Thursday that new claims for unemployment insurance rose by 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 480,000. Wall Street economists had expected a drop to 460,000, according to Thomson Reuters.

‘Car Pool’ Commuter Nabbed With Mannequin

It is not a joking matter when you drive off with a ticket,’ sheriff says

ISLANDIA, N.Y
. - The tip-off was the sunglasses.

A New Yorker faces a $135 traffic fine for using a mannequin as her "plus one" in the high-occupancy vehicle lane of the Long Island Expressway.

An alert sheriff's deputy on Long Island became suspicious this week when he saw the "passenger" wearing sunglasses and using the visor. The problem: The sky was overcast.

Daily Times Editor Has A Thing For Joe Albero & Salisbury News

James Fisher out of Ocean City just can't get enough of me and Salisbury News articles. In fact, it seems quite a bit of his Posts are concentrated on his fixation towards me.

This go around he's concentrating on an article we posted about Obama, (written by an Attorney John W. King, Attorney at Law) he's all in a tiff about. Since James gets absolutely NO HITS and NO COMMENTS on his Blog, I thought I'd add this link back to his story, (a courtesy the Daily Times refuses to offer in return).

Mr. Fisher closes his article with: ""PLEASE pass this along to your friends if you agree that this sounds reasonable," says the missive SBYNews posted this morning. I guess the site's publisher finds that particular toxic conspiracy theory quite reasonable. Readers can take that into account in deciding how trustworthy everything else on the site is."

Well James, we provide information for ALL of our readers. We are not here to BRAINWASH our readers in into only what we believe to be true. We leave it up to our readers to decide and actually comment, unlike the Daily Times, or hadn't you noticed.

Just because we publish something doesn't mean we believe it to be fact or true. I mean, think about it James, we publish all of the Kratovill and Omalley Press Releases too, don't we. If you think for a second I buy any of their BS you'd be sadly mistaken.

Without my making any statement about this at all James Fisher, your Blog gets no visits and quite frankly is useless to the World and or more importantly the Eastern Shore. YOU know that all you have to do is look at my Alexa numbers to see we're truly kicking your A$$, yet we're not linked to every Gannett Publication in the World, like the DT's is. Considering Greg Bassett and Joe Carmean said I could never compete with the Daily Times, what's your thinking now Boys?

James, rather than trying to personally bring me down, realize Salisbury News is far more powerful than your petty little rants in the Daily Times and quite frankly if you wanted attention, you just got it. If you wanted respect, you just lost it. So much for an open mind and an understanding in what we do. However, the fact that the Daily Times has lost focus and only breeds information they want YOU to believe is the main reason why they're failing and we're growing.

Have a great day James Fisher. By the way, Obama Sucks!

LAST NIGHT'S PNA MEETING

LAST NITE SHERIFF MIKE LEWIS WAS OUR GUEST. AND WHAT A NIGHT IT WAS. HE ADDRESSED QUESTIONS AND PROVIDED ANSWERS AND SUGGESTIONS YOU DON'T OFTEN HEAR. THE MAN HAS CONVICTION, WHAT HE SAYS HE MEANS AND BACKS UP WITH THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE WAY OF DOING THINGS THAT IS WHY THEY ARE SO SUCCESSFUL. HE ADDRESSED THE CRIME IN OUR AREA AND WHEN GIVEN OUR FACTS SAID HE WAS OVERWHELMED BY THE INCIDENTS REPORTED IN OUR AREA, AND WOULD TAKE THEM TO THE SALISBURY PD WHERE THEY WOULD ADDRESS THEM TOGETHER. HE ALSO TOOK ITEMS AND INFORMATION WE HAD GIVEN IN THE PAST THAT AND TOTALLY SAID HE WOULD PERSONALLY LOOK INTO AND WE WOULD HEAR ABOUT THEIR FINDINGS AND RESULTS. THAT IN NO WAY TAKES AWAY FROM THE HELP THE SALISBURY PD HAS GIVEN US IN RECENT MONTHS, IT JUST MEANS THINGS WILL BE LOOKED AT IN VARIOUS WAYS, HE IS VERY HAPPY WITH THE APPOINTMENT OF OUR NEW SPD POLICE CHIEF BARKLEY. HE STATES WE WILL SEE MORE COOPERATION FROM THE SPD, STATE POLICE, SHERIFFS OFFICE, DELMAR POLICE AND FRUITLAND POLICE ALL WORKING TOGETHER. Y0U REALLY MISSED A GREAT MEETING IF YOU WERE NOT IN ATTENDANCE.

WBOC On Line Polls Are Complete BS

WBOC Online Poll

How likely are you to buy a Toyota in light of the recent recalls?

Very likely
Somewhat likely
Not a chance
OK, isn't this like asking residents of Haiti, in light of the recent earthquake, would you still hire the contractor that built your home?
How about, We know you just crashed into the Hudson River. Would you still fly with Sulley (?) on another flight?
If you won $8,000,000.00 in the State Lottery, will you still borrow money from Bank of America?
Here's the funny part about what WBOC fails to do. Well, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they attempted to do what I'm about to say but couldn't find anyone so they created this poll instead. WBOC should have reached out to see if ONE SINGLE PERSON actually had a problem with their Toyota. You see, I asked around to all of my friends and now I'll reach out to all of you and ask, have you had a similar problem with your gas pedal on your Toyota?
Toyota seems to have the most loyal Customers in the world. Why, because they didn't need the Federal Government to step in and say there's a problem. They saw their might be an issue and they confronted it head on, just in case. The Japanese handle issues like this with honor and dignity. They take pride in what they manufacture.
I happen to own a Toyota Corolla that now has 189,000 miles on it. It has been the first car for three of our kids, (all boys) and you know it took a beating. I would drive that car to Texas right now and never second guess if I'd have a problem or not. I can't say the same for any of the American cars I own. If my gas pedal sticks along the way, well, two things would happen. One, I'd turn off the ignition when the Officer pulled me over and Two, I'd tell him the reason I was speeding was because my gas pedal stuck. Oh, and if I happen to get asked why I didn't stop fast enough I'll tell them my brakes weren't working properly either. Go figure Officer!
So to you, WBOC, have you found ONE Toyota Owner that has had issues with their gas pedal sticking? Oh, if you wish to say YOU did in fact have an issue with your gas pedal sticking, I'm not publishing it unless you give a name. We all know who likes to play the game of putting up negative comments here just to play games and get a rise out of everyone.

What Every Man Wants In Bed

Cops & Teachers

Teachers

These are actual comments made on students' report cards by teachers in the New York City public school system. All teachers were reprimanded (but, boy, are these funny!)

1. Since my last report, your child has reached rock bottom and has started to dig..

2. I would not allow this student to breed.

3. Your child has delusions of adequacy.

4. Your son is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot.

5.. Your son sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them.

6. The student has a 'full six-pack' but lacks the plastic thing to hold it all together.

7. This child has been working with glue too much.

8. When your daughter's IQ reaches 50, she should sell.

9. The gates are down, the lights are flashing, but the train isn't coming.

10. If this student were any more stupid, he'd have to be watered twice a week.

11. It's impossible to believe the sperm that created this child beat out 1,000,000 others.

12.. The wheel is turning but the hamster is definitely dead.

Cops

These are actual comments made by 16 Police Officers.

The comments were taken off actual police car videos around the country:

16. 'You know, stop lights don't come any redder than the one you just went through.'

15. 'Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll stretch after you wear them a while.'

14. 'If you take your hands off the car, I'll make your birth certificate a worthless document.'

13. 'If you run, you'll only go to jail tired.'

12. 'Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? Because that's the speed of the bullet that'll be chasing you..'

11. 'You don't know how fast you were going? I guess that means I can write anything I want to on the ticket, huh?'

10. 'Yes, sir, you can talk to the shift supervisor, but I don't think it will help. Oh, did I mention that I'm the shift supervisor?'

9. 'Warning! You want a warning? O.K, I'm warning you not to do that again or I'll give you another ticket.. '

8. 'The answer to this last question will determine whether you are drunk or not. Was Mickey Mouse a cat or a dog?'

7. 'Fair? You want me to be fair? Listen, fair is a place where you go to ride on rides, eat cotton candy and corn dogs and step in monkey poop.'

6. 'Yeah, we have a quota. Two more tickets and my wife gets a toaster oven.'

5. 'In God we trust, all others we run through NCIC.'

4. 'How big were those 'two beers' you say you had?'

3. 'No sir, we don't have quotas anymore. We used to, but now we're allowed to write as many tickets as we can.'

2. 'I'm glad to hear that the Chief (of Police) is a personal friend of yours. So you know someone who can post your bail.'

AND THE WINNER IS....

1. 'You didn't think we give pretty women tickets? You're right, we don't... Sign here.'

COURIC FACES PAY CUT; DEEP LAYOFFS HIT CBSNEWS

CBSNEWS anchorwoman and 60 MINUTES contributor Katie Couric faces a dramatic pay cut at the network, insiders tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

CBS boss Les Moonves is determined to save money and trim expenses -- from top to bottom -- at the former crown jewel of broadcasting.

Couric, the highest paid TV news personality in history, commands over $14 million a year, plus bumps for non-EVENING NEWS appearances.

But her salary is now in the direct line of fire, network insiders explain, and a populist backlash against Couric's cash is said to be forming inside the newsroom.

"She makes enough to pay 200 news reporters $75,000 a year!" demands a veteran producer. "It's complete insanity."

For The Love Of Golf

Ed and Dorothy met while on a singles cruise and Ed fell head over heels for her. When they discovered they lived in the same city only a few miles apart Ed was ecstatic. He immediately started asking her out when they got home.

Within a couple of weeks, Ed had taken Dorothy to dance clubs, restaurants, concerts, movies, and museums. Ed became convinced that Dorothy was indeed his soul mate and true love. Every date seemed better than the last.

On the one-month anniversary of their first dinner on the cruise ship, Ed took Dorothy to a fine restaurant. While having cocktails and waiting for their salad, Ed said, "I guess you can tell I'm very much in love with you. I'd like a little serious talk before our relationship continues to the next stage. So, before I get a box out of my jacket and ask you a life changing question, it's only fair to warn you, I'm a total golf nut. I play golf, I read about golf, I watch golf on TV. In short, I eat, sleep, and breathe golf. If that's going to be a problem, for us, you'd better say so now!"

Dorothy took a deep breath and responded, "Ed, that certainly won't be a problem. I love you as you are and I love golf too; but, since we're being totally honest with each other, you need to know that for the last five years I've been a hooker."

"Oh wow! I see," Ed replied. He looked down at the table, and was quiet for a moment, deep in thought then he added, "You know, it's probably just because you're not keeping your wrists straight when you swing."

Md. Adopts 'Greener' Measure Of Md. Living Standard With UMD Expertise

Here’s some more background on the story you posted this morning about the “GPI” --

Governor O’Malley – with the help of UM researchers – launched a greener, more accurate measure of Maryland’s prosperity today to supplement the standard state economic measure (Gross State Product). The idea is to get a better handle on the actual standard of living experienced by Marylanders.

The UM researchers found that the two measures yield very different assessments of the state's economic condition (the researchers coordinated with a working group of state officials and did the technical work): In 2000, the standard measure made Maryland appear more than 50 percent more wealthy than the new measure, yet probably didn’t reflect conditions on the ground as experienced by the average Joe. Both the governor and our researcher indicate that this will be a useful tool in steering policy decisions.

Here’s how the UMD researcher (Matthias Ruth) puts it:

“With measures at hand that show us not only the impacts of policy and investments on the economy but also the costs of those policies and investments to society, we may have moved more rapidly towards sustainable practices - may have invested more in communities that hold together, rather than roads that spread us apart, we may have invested more in local jobs rather than an economy that moves them to far-flung places on this globe, and we may have invested more in energy technology that harnesses local, renewable resources like wind and solar, instead of burning nonrenewable fossil fuels, creating local air pollution and contributing to climate change.”

UMD’s Matthias Ruth can explain the differences (see contact information and details below). Also, the new measure is based on pioneering work done by Ruth’s Maryland colleague Herman Daly, a prominent and “maverick” ecological economist.

Maryland is only third state to do this, and none have done it so comprehensively.

I’ve got some background below. And here’s a link to the Governor’s release.

More Snow On The Way Folks

Are You A Democrat, Republican Or A Southerner?

Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or a Southerner?

Here is a little test that will help you decide.

The answer can be found by posing the following question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.

Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you...

You are carrying a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot.

You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.

What do you do?

THINK CAREFULLY AND THEN SCROLL DOWN:

Democrat's Answer:
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
What does the law say about this situation?
Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
Should I call 9-1-1?
Why is this street so deserted?
We need to raise taxes, have paint & weed day.
Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.
This is all so confusing!

Steele Weathering Disaffection In RNC

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele has maneuvered through a minefield of internal discontent, emerging from a critical party gathering with his authority intact and a strategy to harness the energy of the "tea party" movement to the Republican cause.

High-profile Republican gubernatorial wins in Virginia and New Jersey and a victory in the recent special Senate election in Massachusetts have helped quiet grumbling within the RNC over Mr. Steele, whose position and authority seemed shaky just a few months ago.

A feared open revolt against the former Maryland lieutenant governor fizzled at the 168-member RNC's winter gathering in Honolulu over the weekend, despite lingering questions about the party's finances and the chairman's side business dealings.

"The party came away from its winter meeting fired up and unified," said North Dakota GOP Chairman Gary Emineth, a Steele supporter on the RNC. Mr. Steele "had the benefit of New Jersey, Virginia and Massachusetts to build on, because the RNC invested significant financial resources and time, which paid off."

"If there is any concern, it is the limited amount of cash on hand with a huge opportunity before us in 2010," Mr. Emineth added.

Friday, Feb. 12
Hoops for Hearts
Glen Avenue Elementary

On Feb. 12, a Hoops for Heart Celebration will occur at Glen Avenue Elementary School. Throughout February in physical education classes, students are learning about the importance of having a healthy heart and the effects of not having a healthy heart on health and overall well being. Along with that, students have been involved in a basketball unit where they are being taught the fundamentals and rules of the game.

Said physical education teacher Derek Jarmon, “It's very important for our learners to realize the importance of giving back to the community as well as the fact that their collaborative efforts are helping to save the lives of many people. This fundraiser has a special place in my family’s heart. My younger brother, Cameron L. Jarmon, was born with a heart defect in 1996. Cameron had to receive two open heart surgeries at such a young age and numerous trips to Johns Hopkins Hospital for checkups. On Sept. 26, 2001, my brother passed away at the age of 5. It devastated my family and me, but from our pain came CLJ Baskets with Love Inc. a non-profit organization that delivers gift baskets fill with toiletries and such for the parents of sick children in nearby hospitals. For me, this (Hoops for Hearts) is another way I can share my brother's legacy, help to save lives, and help our learners realize the importance of living a healthy life and volunteering in your community.”

On Feb. 12, students will celebrate their contribution to helping save lives by participating in Hoops for Hearts, a fundraiser for the American Heart Association. (This is similar to the Jump Rope for Heart events many schools will engage in this month to boost heart health awareness and raise money for the American Heart Association.) Each grade level will have a specific time to go to the gym to participate in various basketball drills and fitness activities with the physical education teachers and other members of the staff at Glen Avenue. These times run from 12-3 p.m., with a staff vs. students basketball game from 3-3:30 p.m. Students who bring in the most donations for the American Heart Association will play in this game. 410-677-5806.

Something So Good Is Always Worth Repeating

Someone did an awesome job putting this together

and with sound to boot. At the very end of the video

you'll hear the song ' Thunder Road ' sung by the star

of the movie for which it was the theme!

Not uncommon except this is the one and only song

ever recorded, for publication, sung by Robert Mitchum!

JMB’s The Shivering Seven Take Polar Plunge
62nd Street beach, Ocean City

Would you be willing to jump into the Atlantic Ocean in February for a good cause? This is what seven James M. Bennett High staff members, The Shivering Seven, will be doing the morning of the Super Bowl. The team will take the plunge in the name of 4STEPS at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, on the 62nd Street beach in Ocean City. Everyone is invited to come out Sunday and cheer on the Shivering Seven as they take the plunge.

4STEPS Therapeutic Riding Program is a non-profit organization committed to enriching the lives of children and adults with disabilities through safe, therapeutic interaction with horses. It was founded in 2002 and is one of over 700 other programs like it across North America. The program helps students who have physical, emotional and/or cognitive learning problems in a variety of ways such as improving coordination, concentration skills and positive social interaction just to name a few. They use a variety of horse-related games and activities, in addition to riding, in order to serve the needs of as many individuals as possible. All activities are supervised by trained staff and volunteers to ensure safety. They are located on Sixty Foot Rd. in Parsonsburg.

For the third year in a row, special education teacher Jay Fenoglietto challenged the staff at JMB to help raise money for 4STEPS with a twist - If the staff raised $350 with a Casual Day, he would “take the plunge” in the frigid ocean and videotape it to show the staff. This year he’ll be joined by six other brave souls: JMB front office ladies Lil Baker, Georgia Kincaid and Priscilla Timken, fellow teacher Ingrid Ramirez, substitute teacher Colbi Custis and social worker Barry Johannsen. The Casual Day raised $700, with Timken raising $300 by getting donations from the JMB Class of 1973.
