Happy Birthday Nancy DiCarlo!

One of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Enjoy it in good health Nancy!

Obama Wings It Without Teleprompter

To The Person Who Wrote To Mayor Tilghman Earlier

So you know, Mayor Tilghman was SHOPPING at Parker Place. She was not on Official Business when she parked in the forst post with the meter expired. To me, at that point, she was an every day citizen. I happened to be at an event at Brew River earlier. When I walked out, (as luck would have it) she and her companion were walking past Brew River just as I was leaving. I chose to walk from 300 W. Main Street while the Mayor drove.

By the time I got back to my Office, I turned the corner and there she was again, walking into Parker Place. So officially, she was NOT on business, she was shopping with some have assumed her Daughter.

For those of you who would say I was following them, that's very far from the truth. The Mayor just happens to have horrible luck when it comes to me being at the right place at the right time. Gotta love the fact that I always carry my camera.

Mayor Barrie Tilghman Dyed?

Now don't go celebrating on the streets just on the title alone!

Take note Ladies & Gentlemen. This is the BEFORE and later we'll see the AFTER? If she's died, what color do you think this woman will be in the end?

I'm not sticking around for hours on end to see what they do with what some have called a monster, so we'll just have to look at today's photos and be on the lookout tomorrow to see the end result.

Nevertheless, she'll be a colored woman when she walks out, that's for sure. Some say she always has been.

Perks Is Not Something That Should NOT Be Related To Barrie Tilghman

Yep, she did it AGAIN! Mayor Barrie Tilghman is at this moment in a beauty salon and could be there all night, if they live up to their word?

Nevertheless, at 4:00 she took the challenge of walking past my building again and I thought, I wonder if she was stupid enough to do this again, soon after she replied to a taxpayers e-mail?

Low and behold, Dee, Dee, Deeee! Stupid is as stupid does.

Breaking News Story

Mayor Barrie Tilghman shoves it right back in the Taxpayers faces AGAIN. Would you believe me if I told you the woman just pulled into yet ANOTHER parking space and refused to expose her Permit and or refused to put any money in the meter? Photos to follow.

Mayor Responds To Parking BS!

"As a citizen of Salisbury, I would just like to know why the mayor feels she doesn't have to abide by the law like everyone else? It's a slap in the face to citizen's to watch her do things like not pay for parking and get away with it. I cannot wait till she is out of office. She has no respect for us. Please reply with her reason for not having to pay for parking like the rest of us.

Thank you."

"Ms. A*%^m:

The mayor, City Council, County Executive & County Council are issued parking passes that allow parking in the downtown. As a part of our jobs, we are required to be in many different places for a great number of events during the course of a week. This was customary for the mayor when I came into office and it has been extended to other elected officials to recognize the demands of their job, as well as the time constraints on local elected officials. I receive no compensation for the trips that I make on behalf of the City to other areas of the State and only a small stipend for local travel; a stipend which has not changed since I came into office ten years ago. I pay all of my own expenses, tolls, food gas and I use my personal vehicle to do the business of the City. Additionally, I attend a great number of events that the City does not pay for, as well as contribute to events and causes that benefit the City, but do not fall into the usual parameters for the City budget to underwrite. For the first half of my terms as
mayor, my salary was $10,000 per year and has risen by $5,000 a year over the past three years so that the mayor makes $25,000 per year. My usual work week is something every day of the week for a routine work week of 50-60 hours a week. I request no health insurance from the City, which for the Council members who receive it costs $10,000 per member per year. I do this because I love the City, the citizens and have been blessed to work with great people and see great projects with enormous potential for the City fulfilled; certainly not because I get a few
dollars worth of parking through the completely legal issuance of a parking permit.

Barrie Tilghman"

Dear Barrie Tilghman:

First of all, let me remind you of a few different things here. Number One, YOU have received a 150% pay raise, quit your belly aching!Number Two, where's the PERMIT? It's certainly NOT in your window. I'll leave the rest to the commenter's on this Blog.

TWO COUNTY MARINAS CITED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS

TWO COUNTY MARINAS CITED FOR EXCELLENCE

Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr. announced that Cedar Hill Marina and Nanticoke Harbor Marina have been cited by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, respectively.

Cedar Hill was one of ten Maryland marinas recognized by the Governor at a ceremony in August. When presenting the award, the Governor said, “The voluntary efforts of clean marina owners and managers to reduce pollution and help protect our rivers and the Chesapeake Bay are truly commendable.”

Nanticoke Harbor joins 131 other Maryland marinas certified as “Clean Marinas” by the Department of Natural Resources. It has 70 boat slips that serve watermen and recreational boaters.

Executive Pollitt praised Superintendent of Parks Rick Konrad saying that, “It is a never-ending battle to preserve our waterways and the Chesapeake Bay. I commend our Parks staff for helping to win the battle and for having their efforts recognized by these prestigious designations.”

WARNING!!!!!

The Maryland State Police just contacted me in reference to a telephone scam going on here on the Eastern Shore/Salisbury.

Apparently they have received numerous calls today from people concerned about someone calling them at home and identifying themselves as Law Enforcement Officials soliciting money.

If YOU receive one of these calls you are asked to get a telephone number from these people as well as a name and immediately contact the Maryland State Police at 410-749-3101.

Always use caution when you receive a telephone call like this. None of the Law Enforcement Agencies on the Shore do ANY soliciting. The State Police are concerned that these people are praying on good, kind hearted people and do not want to see any of you taken for a ride on such a scam.

If YOU have also received such a c all, don't hesitate to call the State Police Barracks in Salisbury at the number above and report it.

Help A Friend In Need

Calling on all SBYNEWS readers:

As mentioned in a post a last week, this is my best friend. I have not been posting my daily Questions of the Day's because most of my extra time has been spent helping out with the benefit, spending extra time with Sally, making dinners for her family and helping out with transportation on daily radiation appointments and everyday needs.

Sally's benefit is going to be BANGING!!!
Teri Darby is a great party/benefit planner.

BIKERS: Please call all your biker buddies! Tell them to go on this biker scavenger hunt with you for a great cause.

I am calling on everyone reading this post. . . Sally needs help. She went from working 3 jobs to nothing. Her insurance was dropped recently since she is not working, COBRA has taken over as long as she pays $260 per month. . . which she cannot afford . . . so it's another added expense.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE !!! Anyone who is reading this post, please print this out and take this to your employer. Ask your employer to take up a collection, or donate a tax-deductible contribution from the business. If you are in retail, ask your employer to make up a basket or bucket of things from the business, whether it be a food, car wash, hair/nail salon, pamper your pet, gift cards, etc. The prizes that have been donated so far have been awesome.

Sally means the world to me. I have known her and been part of her extended family for 19 years.

If you would like to help, please call Teri Darby at 443-880-6868 or email at oc_teri@yahoo.com, or Billie Reynolds at 443-614-7073. If you would like to talk to me about it, please call me anytime at 443-880-3594 or email me at atlanticjw@aol.com. If you are a friend of Sally's, and have lost touch, please call me and I will get you in touch with her.

Come out Sunday, October 5th for Sally. Bring the whole family. When you meet her, you will know why I have been friends with her for so long.

With Love,

Hi, I'm Mayor Barrie Tilghman And I Don't Give A Sh!t

To those of you who have been given tickets in the City of Salisbury, this one is for you!

I want you to print these photos and bring them in every time YOU get a ticket and tell them to shove it where the sun doesn't shine.

Mayor Tilghman claims she's accountable and takes FULL RESPONSIBILITY. OK Barrie, can we now clearly call you a liar? I watched her pull into this space and not put a single quarter in the meter. The meter was already red when she pulled up and walked away. People immediately walked up to the meter, stood there and shook their heads because they too have been a victim of tickets throughout Downtown Salisbury.

If you weren't such a Idiot I would have gladly put a quarter in the meter for you. However, you are an Idiot and Barrie Tilghman, YOU'VE BEEN BLOGGED!

Code Pink & Obama

Joe, would you like to do a story about Obama's association with that Wacky anti military group code pink, more like code puke to me.

Local Gas Prices

Joe,

Here is a handy website for the cheapest gas prices around. Just plug in your
zip code and it will list the cheapest gas prices in your area. This will be
great for all of you bloggers around the Peninsula. Even the Liberals. I noticed
Gordy is not listed anywhere.

AVID READER COMMENTS IN RESPONSE TO METROPOLITAN AND POHANKA COMMENTS

SBYnews has all other forms of media beat. . . HANDS DOWN.

Come on folks, when one thinks about it . . . just look at the following glistening facts.

Where else would Delmarva's news readers find-out about the following.

1. When people inquired about where to dine out, all one has to do is read the reviews that were posted on this website. A few months ago several recommendations were lamented including Tapatila , and Tapatila in Seaford, and the other Mexican restaurant in the Allenwood shopping center. And let's not forget about La Tolteca being recommended to. And how about the fine food served at the Pittsville Fire House restaurant. And, a few more that I might have forgotton to mention.

2. Was it not Sbynews that first informed the public to expand their car shopping across the bay in order to SAVE SBYnews readers thousands of dollars?

3. Did not SBYnews recommend killer delicious Nathan's hotdogs that can be acquired with a softdrink at Sam's for a record low price of $1.78?

4. How about all of the money SBYnews has saved countless people by posting the gas prices at Sam's. I'll even go so far to say that Sam's dropped their prices even further because of SBYnews exposure.

ITS NO WONDER That SBYnews is rated as 'THE BEST THING GOING IN AND AROUND THE EASTERN SHORE'.

By God they've earned that rating in my book.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post

My husband and I were both laid off from our jobs.

Its been a really scary time, but taking the time to be afraid and stressed does nothing but cloud your judgment.

So in the meantime, we've struggled. We've both filed, and received, unemployment. We've received free health care from the state in which we literally don't spend a penny to see the same doctors we used to pay hundreds (thousands) in premiums and copays for. We get free food from the WIC program. We have qualified for more things, but we have too much pride to take advantage.

Ever been in that position?

The thing is, it takes very little to get these programs. You don't even have to speak English.

We hate that we are using these programs, and as soon as we are back on our feet again, we'll pay our way through life 100%. I'm becoming angry and bitter that these programs exist...and that they HAVE to exist for times like these. Perhaps if our taxes weren't so high to pay for things like these, we'd have savings and wouldn't be stuck like this.

The workers in these programs are courteous and go out of their way to make sure you know of all the programs available to you. They go out of their way to make the process easier. That should be a good thing for any other industry except for those that exist solely for the purpose of prolonging making an honest living.

I know I contradict myself when I say I use these programs but they royally piss me off. The thing is, they wouldn't piss me off as much if they were hard to get, or if I even had to speak English to get them. I now know why people "live off the system" and I'm pissed that so many of my tax dollars went and go to these programs in the first place because I know full well someone could stop working forever and have the same exact luxuries for free that we've paid for as a struggling middle class family.

Before this point, I was a democrat. I've become such a far right fiscal conservative since. Our (paid for) health insurance begins in a few weeks and now that we're starting to get back to a point where we are out of the hole, I'm no longer ashamed because I'm using government subsidies. However, I'm pissed off at the same time because I know that my job is paying for someone else to sit on their asses and wait for the check in the mail.

The democrats have made it too easy. They had some really good ideas, but they have gone so far wrong its ridiculous.

Dog Story

For those of you with dogs (or not) ......

I pulled into the crowded parking lot at the Super Wal-Mart Shopping Center and rolled down the car windows to make sure my little Lucy had fresh air.

She was stretched full-out on the back seat and I wanted to impress upon her that she must remain there. I walked to the curb backward, pointing my finger at the car and saying emphatically, 'Now you stay. Do you hear me?'

'Stay! Stay!'

The driver of a nearby car, a pretty blonde young lady, gave me a strange look and said,

'Why don't you just put it in park?'

Since When Is Stealing from the Taxpayer Not "Unethical"?

If all of the profit from the Wicomico dispensary system is the taxpayers' money, and ...

If the profit from the dispensary is defined as: Sales - Legitimate Operating Costs, and ...

If the dispensary is a government-owned monopoly, ...

How can Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt refuse to call the dispensary board "unethical", when:
  • The WCLCB lines its members' pockets,
  • The WCLCB spends tens of thousands of dollars on "advertising", even though it has no competition,
  • The WCLCB hands out money to social clubs,
  • The WCLCB hands out money to the pet charities of its board members

The Wicomico County Historical Society Unveils Paintings

The portraits of Elihu Emory Jackson, (1836-1907) William P Jackson, (1868-1914) and Nannie Rider Jackson, (1868-1932) were unveiled yesterday at the GOB is Salisbury. These oil paintings were carefully restored and presented to Wicomico County to be exhibited in a safe and secure location.

Several stories were presented about the Jackson Family and how they pretty much made the City of Salisbury what it is today.

Elihu Jackson actually became the Governor of Maryland back in 1888.

William P. Jackson was in the United States Senate from 1912-1914 and was President of the Jackson Shirt Factory formerly here in Salisbury.

Nannie Rider Jackson was a faithful member of the Trinity Methodist Church and the Daughter of Dr. William H. Rider. She married Elihu E. Jackson in 1865.

William H. Jackson had donated all the land needed for a new Hospital and Nurse's Home. The large portrait above of William P. Jackson hung in the foyer of the Hospital for many years before it was discovered by the Historical Society and refurbished.

Present in the photos above were Mr. & Mrs. Cam Jackson as well as the honorable Mr. & Mrs. Judge Newt Jackson.

The location in which these portraits will be located has yet to be decided but from the tone of the County Executive Rick Pollitt, they will not take the location lightly.

Mayor Barrie Tilghman actually gave a very knowledgeable history of the Jackson Family as well as the history of the neighborhoods they resided in. Obviously Mayor Tilghman knows her history and I actually enjoyed listening to her speech about this Family.

It's a shame this presentation wasn't produced on PAC 14 because it was quite interesting. A special thanks also goes out to the well know Historian George Chevalier for his involvement on this project.

Beauty Can Come From The Most Unusual Places

I took this photo walking down the Downtown Plaza. No, this plant was not intentionally planted here. In fact, it's growing between the cracks in the brick walk way along the Plaza. I thought it made for a cool picture.

I Thik We Just Found Our Lincoln

"At approx 10:30 Monday evening, two black males in a silver Lincoln navigator were driving the wrong way on route 13, a police officer spotted them, he turned and pursued them at which time back up was called and it turned into a high speed chase down Main street of Fruitland towards Riverside Drive. The Lincoln was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran the stop sign at Riverside Drive at that point he took out the stop sign on Cherry Hill lane with his mirror and running board, the chase ended with the Lincoln coming to a dead end street, striking the biggest tree in the neighborhood, no brakes were applied, police estimated speed at approx 80 miles an hour. The driver was cut from the Lincoln and transported him to the hospital, with life threatening injuries, the passenger refused treatment and was then handcuffed and placed in a police vehicle, he later complained of chest pain and an ambulance was called to transport him the the hospital. The Fruitland Police, State Police, Fruitland Fire department, Salisbury Paramedics, were at the scene within minutes and did an amazing job!!!!"

In Seven And A Half Years, It Is Hard To Believe

Seven & a half years!

George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.

A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

4) The DOW JONES hit a record high -- 14,000+

5) American's were buying new cars, taking cruises and vacations overseas, living large!

But American's wanted 'CHANGE'! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress & yep -- we got 'CHANGE' all right!

1) Consumer confidence has plummeted;

2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing;

3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% incre ase);

4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 trillion dollars & prices are still dropping;

5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

6) THE DOW is probing another low ~11,300 -- $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!

YEP, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE! AND WE GOT IT! A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS, NANCY PELOSI. HARRY REID.

Now the Democrats' candidate for president -- and the polls say he's gonna be 'the man' -- claims he's gonna really give us change! Just how much more 'change' do you think you can stand?

Have a very nice day.

Democrat/Republican

"Joe,

I have been a registered Democrat for all of my voting life. After watching these immature people (Democrats) including the idiots of the liberal press sling nonsense at the Governor of Alaska and after watching Nancy P. and her fellow cohorts go on vacation when I’m unemployed, no health insurance and land taxed through the roof and can barely afford gasoline and wonder how the people of this country will heat their homes this winter and I hear good old Biden wonder what Palin plans to do about health care (when they may freeze to death this winter) I have definitely decided to vote straight Republican. I do not care if the Republicans run a monkey on the ticket it is better than the lame brained idiots that are calling them selves Democrats. I realize a few good Democrats may exist but in my opinion all must be hurt to let them know how I feel. Where are the issues that are important to the public, where are the things that are affecting this country and the good people of this country. Don’t bother to ask a Democrat as they are too busy slinging nonsense of immaterial value and telling lies and covering up for $100,000 stolen in greed.

I cannot wait to vote. It is the one way I can personally express how I feel and right now I’m very disappointed in Congress including our local representatives. They act like a bunch of children after wasting our tax dollars after we voted them to the position. They forget about the hard working people who voted them in and these democrats work only for small no name irresponsible causes and let’s not forget the pork projects. Nothing is free; someone has to pay while they ride the big wave.

I don’t know how others feel but I’m tired of it. It may not change anything but at least I will have had my say.

Thank you for at least reading. That is more than a Democrat can do."
