Border States Struggle to Contain Infectious Diseases from Venezuela

Brazil, Colombia, and other Venezuelan border states are struggling to treat the variety of serious illnesses refugees from the socialist state are bringing with them, a report from the Wall Street Journal detailed Wednesday.

The thousands of Venezuelan refugees arriving daily in Brazil’s and Colombia’s border towns often carry serious diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, diphtheria, dengue, and tuberculosis that they are spreading to local populations, according to Colombian, Brazilian, and Venezuelan health officials who spoke with the Journal.

The diseases, previously believed to have been eradicated, are now cropping up in cities hundreds of miles away from the Venezuelan border as local authorities seek to move refugees from border towns into other parts of the country.

Blitzed: This Is How Lie-A-Watha Warren Found Out About Her Illegal Fundraising Ethics Complaint

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is expected to be re-elected on Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean she can’t trip up and have embarrassing moments. She’s already become the source of mockery for her fake ancestral claim to the Cherokee Nation, which has infuriated some actual members of the tribe. She released the results of a DNA test, which she says proves her claim, though it shows she’s just another white lady. She’s 1/1024th Native American. Yet, this isn’t the only time she’s been…scalped.

During the vicious fight over Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination, she apparently ran aground of ethics rules; she’s been accused of illegally fundraising off the Kavanaugh fight, promising anti-Kavanaugh supporters an opposition vote if they gave money. During Tuesday’s Massachusetts Senate debate, this complaint was brought up by her Republican challenger, Geoff Diehl, and backed up by the moderator. Warren said she had no idea there was even a complaint filed against her (via Free Beacon):

What’s The Point Of Citizenship Anymore?

On Tuesday, my wife and I went and voted early, mostly to get it out of the way while my dad and sister are visiting and they could watch our newborn. The experience was pretty much what you’d expect – paid temporary workers trying to remember their training, to varying degrees of success, in a community center’s gym with a bunch of other people looking to check the “civic duty” box. But something struck me this year that made me wonder what the point of citizenship is anymore.

My ballot in Maryland was in both English and Spanish. Maybe it’s been that way for years, I honestly don’t remember. On the way out the door, as always happens, someone tried to give me and my older daughter, a whole 17 months, an “I voted” sticker. I passed because I think they’re stupid and obnoxious – you shouldn’t celebrate doing what you’re supposed to do – but my wife, who took longer to vote because she skipped every race where there was only one person on the ballot, took one. It read, “I voted, yo vote.” It was then it occurred to me that the benefits of citizenship are either going away or pretty much gone.

Don’t get me wrong, I still have pride in the country, but the country is changing significantly, or more correctly it’s being changed, in a dramatic way I’m not sure people are aware of.

Why would a ballot need to be written in English and Spanish when, by law, you’re expected to be proficient in English in order to become a citizen and, therefore, be eligible to vote?

Obama Created the Political Division, Not Trump

Former President Obama created a massive political divide between the left and the right we see today. His attacks against the right-wingers created an emboldened electorate, and now the fruits of his rhetoric are seen. President Trump is a result of Obama’s political discourse disguised as executive leadership. However, the legacy media and left-wingers tell a different story.

President Trump began to gain momentum in the 2016 primaries soon after announcing his candidacy. Many people scoffed and laughed at the notion of a “President Trump.” He proved them wrong and handily beat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Soon after Trump took office, he instituted a travel ban from predominantly radical Islamic countries, backed law enforcement, signed on a massive tax cut, disintegrated ISIS, improved the job market, caused the stock market to soar, and the list goes on. All of these things are great for the country, but the left claims Trump is a divider.

The American Dream Shatters: The Death Of The Middle Class

Middle-class families, which used to be the backbone of the United States economy are becoming poorer. Despite the constant bombardment of news of a “healthy economy,” 62% of middle-class families struggle to afford a basic middle-class lifestyle.

Even though the unemployment rate that has reached a 50-year low of 3.7 percent, most jobs across the U.S. don’t support a middle-class or better lifestyle, leaving many Americans struggling, according to a new study. When factoring in both wages and the cost of living in the metro area where the job is located, 62% struggle to provide a middle-class lifestyle according to the study by Third Way, a think tank that leans center-left on the political spectrum.

“There’s an opportunity crisis in the country,” says Jim Kessler, vice president of policy for Third Way and editor of the report.

“It explains some of the economic uneasiness and, frankly, the political uneasiness” even amid the most robust U.S. economy and labor market since before the Great Recession of 2007 to 2009.

Black Caucus calls for African-American representation among House leadership

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) are calling for an African-American lawmaker to be granted the No. 1 or No. 2 spot in the House if Democrats win back the majority next week, setting up a potentially messy and dramatic leadership battle on the left.

CBC Chairman Cedric Richmond (D-La.) is circulating a new “Dear Colleague” letter, which was obtained by The Hill and first reported by Politico on Thursday, making that position clear to fellow Democrats. The jockeying is heating up ahead of the Democratic leadership elections that are scheduled for Nov. 28.

“Over the past couple of weeks, several of our colleagues have respectfully shared letters of intent expressing interest in various House Democratic Caucus leadership positions,” Richmond wrote in the letter.

“It is within that context that I’d like to reiterate that if there is any change in our top leadership positions the Democratic Members of the CBC endorse African-American representation in at least one of the two top positions of elected House Democratic Caucus leadership.”

CNN's Lemon doubles down: 'Evidence is overwhelming' that white men are 'biggest terror threat'

CNN's Don Lemon doubled down Wednesday on his comment earlier this week that the "biggest terror threat in this country are white men."

Lemon said Wednesday that the "evidence is overwhelming" that the statement is true.

The CNN anchor's comments have been condemned on the right, a fact Lemon noted during his Wednesday show.

Jewish Americans Flock to Firearms Training in Wake of Synagogue Attack

Jewish Americans are flocking to firearms training in the wake of the October 27 attack on Tree of Life Synagogue that killed 11 people.

For example, Haaretz reports that the Cherev Gidon Israeli Tactical Defense Academy near Scranton, Pennsylvania, is witnessing the highest demand for training it has ever seen.

Yonatan Stern, “a veteran officer of the Israel Defense Forces and director of the academy,” reminds his Scranton, Pennsylvania, classes: “The fact is, we’re at war. We want Jews everywhere to be armed.”

Stern indicates that “hundreds” of people interested in firearms training contacted him during the three days after the Pittsburgh attack. He observed that “all but three or four” of them were Jewish.

And while there are some members of the Jewish community pushing back against the idea of using guns to keep synagogues safe, Stern notes, “To wait for law enforcement to arrive simply is not the answer.”

Zuckerberg: Facebook Will Crack Down on ‘Hate Speech’ Ahead of Midterm Elections

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated recently that the upcoming U.S. midterm elections will be “a real test” of the company’s ability to crack down on “hate speech” and misinformation.

The Hollywood Reporter stated in a recent article that Facebook will make its biggest increase in money spent to combat “hate speech” and misinformation on its platform this year, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg stated that despite Facebook’s increased expenditure, the company still won’t be as “dialed in as well as everyone would like us to be,” in relation to security and influence campaigns on the platform.

Zuckerberg stated that the upcoming midterm elections will be “a real test” of the newly implemented safeguards designed to protect the platform from “bad actors,” following reports of numerous foreign influence campaigns on the social media website. Zuckerberg said that during the upcoming election, the platform will see “all the good and bad that humanity can do,” but that the social media platform is getting better at hiding the “bad stuff” from users.

Iranian Refugee Has Raised Over $1M for Tree of Life Synagogue Victims

Shay Khatir, a 29-year-old refugee from Iran with no direct connection to Pittsburgh, started a GoFundMe campaign for the victims of the shooting at Tree of Life synagogue that has now raised over a million dollars.

"I just wanted it to be helpful to the community and for the survivors and the victims," Khatir said in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

After waking up at the home of a Jewish friend after a long night of Halloween parties, Khatir was shocked to hear about the shooting Saturday at Tree of Life that took the lives of 11 congregants and injured six others, including four police officers.

Khatir is a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and had previously used GoFundMe to raise funds to cover summer internships. He was nevertheless surprised by how quickly his campaign for Tree of Life went viral. Since initiating the account, which is set up so that Khatir has no control over the money and the funds go directly to the congregation, he has been in contact with the president of the synagogue.

Mexican National Gets Prison Time for Making More Than 1,000 Fake IDs

A 44-year-old Mexican woman living in Marion, Ohio, has been sentenced to 54 months in prison for operating what federal prosecutors call “a document mill that produced more than 1,000 false identification documents.”

“Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Buendia-Chavarria’s residence in October 2017, where they located numerous false identification documents, five handwritten ledgers containing other peoples’ names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers, and in some cases, who the identity was sold to, according to court documents,” says a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio.

DeSantis and Trump Say Democrats Will Gut Medicare for Seniors

When the liberal media bothers to ask Democrats about their campaign message, the reply is "health care."

Be careful, President Trump and Florida gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis said at a rally in Florida Wednesday night:

"We will protect your health care," DeSantis promised, noting that his opponent, Democrat Andrew Gillum, has been "hanging out with Bernie Sanders."

"And what they want to do -- they call it "Medicare for all." But if you read the fine print, every senior loses Medicare or Medicare Advantage under their plan. They get dumped on a single-payer government system. If you get insurance through your business, that is taken away from you by force. And you are thrown onto a single-payer government plan. Government has no right to take away the health care benefits that you're earning. You deserve to keep it."

Stacey Dash at Walk Away Rally: ‘I Got Blacked into Voting’ for Obama

Actress Stacey Dash said she was ostracized and called the n-word for publicly supporting former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney over President Barack Obama during the 2012 presidential election.

“My whole life changed when I put out a tweet in 2012: ‘Vote for Romney, the only hope for our future.’ The next day, everything was different. I was a house n*****. I was a coon. I was a traitor to my race. I was an Uncle Tom, who by the way is hero, so thank you very much. I was blacklisted from Hollywood. No one wanted to hire me. Why? Because of my politics,” she said.

Dash was one of thousands over the weekend to declare their independence from the Democrat Party in the first #WalkAway Campaign march. The WalkAway Campaign was launched earlier this year by Brandon Straka, an openly gay man and former liberal who walked away from the Democrat Party because he felt liberalism embodied hatred, discrimination, group-think, censorship, and junk science –things to which he was opposed.

“Who do you think you are? I was called a black white supremacist by Chelsea Handler. So what you’re saying is that in order to have an independent thought, I have to white and Democratic? No, excuse me. I didn’t mean Democratic, ‘cause they’re not Democratic. They’re Democrats."

US warship shoots down missile in space with ballistic ‘kill vehicle’

Dramatic footage has emerged of a US warship shooting down a missile in space with a spectacular intercept weapon.

The video, released by the US Navy, shows the USS John Finn attempting to hit a medium-range ballistic missile.

A similar experiment earlier in the year failed but this time it manages to successfully hit the missile in space.

The SM-3 Block, dubbed 'Kill Vehicle,' reportedly uses brute force as opposed to an explosive warhead to eliminate its target, with the firm who make the missile claiming it hits its target with the power of a 'ten-ton truck' traveling at '600mph'.

The technique has been likened to hitting a bullet with another bullet, which is why this test was dubbed a "superb accomplishment" by a US Navy official.

Alec Baldwin Arrested in New York for Punching Man Over a Parking Space

Alec Baldwin was arrested Friday after he allegedly punched a man over a parking spot in lower Manhattan, a New York Police Department spokesman said. He was arrested around 1:30 p.m. on 10th Street in the West Village.

According to a preliminary investigation, Baldwin had someone holding a parking spot for him and while he was moving his car to the spot, someone else took the space, a senior law enforcement official told The Daily Beast. When Baldwin pulled up to space and noticed it had been taken, he approached the man at a parking meter, the official said, and the two began shoving each other before Baldwin allegedly threw a punch.

The victim, 49, was taken to Lenox Hill hospital. Baldwin is expected to be charged with assault, the spokesman said.

President Donald Trump on the South Lawn said of Baldwin’s arrest, “I wish him luck.” Trump previously said Baldwin’s impression of him on Saturday Night Live “stinks.”

Google Refuses Ad Buy for YouTube Video Supporting Marsha Blackburn

Google is refusing an ad buy from the Tennessee Republican Party for a YouTube video supporting Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN-07), the GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by retiring Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN).

A Fox News poll released late Wednesday shows that Blackburn is now leading her Democrat opponent, former Gov. Phil Bredesen, by nine points, 50 percent to 41 percent.

The Daily Caller News Foundation broke the story Wednesday morning:

Google Ads informed the Tennessee Republican Party Tuesday that its digital ads supporting Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s campaign, which included video footage of protestors interrupting her moment of silence for victims of the recent deadly mass shooting of a synagogue, were disapproved because they contained “shocking content.”

Google Ads, an online advertising platform, would not allow the Tennessee GOP to promote two videos for Blackburn’s Senate campaign as search ads because the content doesn’t meet Google’s standards, according to an email sent to the Tennessee GOP.

On Hold for 45 Minutes? It Might Be Your Secret Customer Score

Two people call customer service at the same time to complain about the same thing. One waits a few seconds before a representative gets on the line. The other stays on hold. Why the difference?

There’s a good chance it has something to do with a rating known as a customer lifetime value, or CLV. That secret number is used by all manner of companies to measure the potential financial value of their customers.

Your score can determine the prices you pay, the products and ads you see and the perks you receive.

Credit-card companies use the scoring systems to decide what to offer customers who want to cancel their cards. Wireless carriers route high-value callers immediately to their most skilled agents. At some airlines, a high score increases the odds of a seat upgrade.

“There’s no free lunch,” says Sunil Gupta, a marketing professor at Harvard Business School who has researched models for calculating lifetime value. “The more profitable you are, the better service you will get.”

These days, companies are resorting to all sorts of data and scores to size up consumers and predict their behavior.

MAXINE WATERS: Committee chairmanship will be time for paybacks

The California congresswoman told a group of constituents what’s in store for her enemies, should she gain the chairmanship of the Financial Services Committee.

“We have an election November 6th,” Waters said. “This is big. This may be the most important one that you’ve ever had to experience.

“This is the midterm election and often times people only vote in the presidential election because they don’t think this is important enough. But this is absolutely important,” she lectured.

Unmarked Mailers Seek to Secretly Kneecap GOP Turnout

A series of last-minute direct-mail pieces are seeking to depress Republican turnout in key congressional races, and whoever is behind the mailers is a mystery, drawing allegations of illegal politicking.

A pair of recent mailers sent to voters in Montana targets Republican Senate candidate Matt Rosendale.

“If Matt Rosendale gets his way, Montanans will have government drones and patrols hovering outside our windows, keeping an eye on our private lives,” one of the glossy postcards warns. It offers words of support for Rick Breckenridge, the Libertarian candidate who on Wednesday threw his support behind Rosendale’s candidacy.

That mail piece, and another one hitting Rosendale on trade policy, contain no “paid for by” disclaimers as required of any political committee sending such mailers. But they do list one key piece of information: the U.S. Postal Service code WC MLG 08899. The numbers are simply a ZIP Code—this one an area in Edison, New Jersey—but the preceding letters correspond to a specific sender.

That doesn’t necessarily tell us who paid for the mailers, but it does suggest at the very least a common vendor with other recent mail pieces that have used the same code.

In a memo released to reporters Wednesday, the Rosendale campaign identified the company Allied Printing Resources as its suspected culprit, citing its offices near Edison and its work with Democrat organizations this cycle and in the past—particularly the League of Conservation Voters, for which Allied produced direct-mail pieces backing Sen. Jon Tester’s 2012 re-election bid.

47% of Americans 'feel like a stranger in their own country,' cultural alienation survey finds

The sense that the nation’s culture and way of life have dramatically changed is reflected in a PRRI “American Values” survey that gauged both political opinions and “cultural alienation.”

It found that 47 percent of Americans now say that things have changed so much, they “feel like a stranger in their own country.” A slim majority (51 percent) disagree.

Nearly six in 10 Republicans say that things have changed so much they feel alienated; 42 percent of Democrats agree.

Was there a better era to live in? Americans are divided on whether the country’s culture and way of life has changed for the better or worse since the 1950s. Fifty percent say such change is for the better, while 47 percent say culture has gotten worse according to the survey survey.

“There are significant partisan divides on this question, with 60 percent of Democrats and just 34 percent of Republicans believing American culture and way of life have improved since the 1950s; by contrast, 64 percent of Republicans say things have mostly changed for the worse,” the poll analysis said.

Sixty-four percent of voters believe the media have divided the country, compared to just 56 percent who believe the same about President Trump.

A Morning Consult poll released Monday asked 2,435 voters if Trump and the national media have done more to divide than unite the country, and the media came out the big loser.

Even a plurality of Democrats, 46 percent, believe the media divide the country. Eighty-eight percent believe the same about Trump.

Two-thirds of independents, 67 percent, see the national media as divisive, while 54 percent say the same of Trump.

US Employment Costs Soar At Fastest Pace In A Decade

US employment costs surged more than expected in Q3. Up 0.8% QoQ (equals the biggest quarterly jump since Q4 2017), as increases in private wages and salaries accelerated, perhaps signaling that workers are gaining leverage in a tightening labor market.

Wages & Salaries rose 0.9% QoQ (+2.9% QoQ) as benefits slowed (+0.8% QoQ from +0.9% in Q2, and +2.6% YoY vs +2.9% in Q2).

On a year-over-year basis, Q3 is up 2.8%, the biggest annual jump since Q3 2008...

Government wages rose 2.3% YoY vs Private Workers 3.1% YoY gain (the most since 2008).

As Bloomberg notes, the government’s quarterly ECI reading -- which covers employer- paid taxes such as Social Security and Medicare in addition to the cost of wages and benefits -- offers a glimpse at how American workers are being compensated.

The latest reading shows momentum in worker compensation ahead of October wage figures due in Friday's monthly employment report.

With the world's equity market bulls hoping for weak economic data to give The Fed an excuse to pause its 'normalization', this data crushes that hope. Is good news bad news? We shall see.

Poll: Black Voter Approval for Trump Hits Yearly High After ‘Blexit’

Black voter approval of President Trump hit the year’s high at 40 percent this week, according to daily tracking by Rasmussen Reports.

The high-water mark comes right after the “Blexit,” or “Black exit from the Democratic Party,” movement spearheaded by Turning Point’s Candace Owens was launched over the weekend, which drew thousands of young African Americans to Washington, DC.

The numbers are based on a three-day rolling average of 1,500 likely voters surveyed nationally every night, according to Rasmussen’. About 12 to 13 percent of those are likely black voters.

“We never saw 40 percent before,” said Ted Carroll, of Rasmussen’s parent company Noson Lawen Partners.

Liberal Groups Resort to Misleading Facebook Ads, Mailers in Final Days Before Texas Midterms

Liberal political groups are pushing disinformation campaigns in Texas with misleading mailers and Facebook ads that appear to be from unbiased news sources, an attempt to spread misleading facts about candidates in the final days of the 2018 election cycle.

Groups backing Democratic candidates have targeted Texas candidates Sen. Tex Cruz (R.) and Rep. John Culberson (R.) among others.

One of the ads on Facebook, sponsored by a group called "The Voter Awareness Project," has attempted to open up old wounds between President Donald Trump and Cruz from the 2016 Republican primary. The ad says, "Trump’s trying to drain the swamp of do-nothing politicians. Trump says Lyin' Ted Cruz has accomplished nothing for Texas, and he's right," implying Trump and Cruz still oppose each other, despite the president stumping for Cruz last week, according to the Texas Tribune. Trump endorsed Cruz in February 2018 and recently said, "He’s not Lyin’ Ted anymore. He’s Beautiful Ted. I call him Texas Ted."

Obama-era CIA peeked at congressional staff emails

The CIA during the Obama administration intercepted and analyzed the email of some congressional staffers, the agency publicly confirmed this week, releasing declassified notifications from 2014 that contained details of the snooping.

The emails dealt with CIA whistle-blowers, and the agency said they were snared during “routine counterintelligence (CI) monitoring of government computer systems.”

The agency then prepared a report on the information in the emails — apparently sensitive conversations about protecting whistle-blowers looking to report malfeasance by the agency.

The inspector general at the time, I. Charles McCullough III, called the collection “lawful and justified.”

But Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said that was a whitewash of the serious issues.

“The fact that the CIA under the Obama administration was reading congressional staff’s emails about intelligence community whistle-blowers raises serious policy concerns as well as potential constitutional separation-of-powers issues that must be discussed publicly,” he said.

Mr. Grassley had been trying for four years to get two 2014 memos detailing the snooping to be made public. He said “bureaucratic foot-dragging” by Obama-era National Intelligence Director James R. Clapper and CIA Director John O. Brennan shielded the touchy issues from public view.

Donald Trump Swats Paul Ryan for Challenging Idea to End Birthright Citizenship

President Donald Trump criticized House Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday after the Speaker of the House challenged his idea of ending birthright citizenship.

“Paul Ryan should be focusing on holding the Majority rather than giving his opinions on Birthright Citizenship, something he knows nothing about!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Ryan criticized Trump’s proposal of ending birthright citizenship with an executive order during an interview on a Kentucky radio station on Tuesday.

“You cannot end birthright citizenship with an Executive Order,” Ryan said. “We didn’t like it when Obama tried changing immigration laws via executive action, and obviously as conservatives, we believe in the Constitution.”

Ryan has already announced his retirement after the Congressional mid-term elections but has campaigned for Republicans in a handful of races.

Trump said Republican Congress without Paul Ryan as Speaker would focus more on stopping illegal immigration.

Deceptive Election Mailer

Though I'm a registered Republican, I got a mailer today from the
Democrat Campaign Committee in my state that claimed the "Low-tax and small-government" candidate in my state's election is the Libertarian candidate. It went on to make all the expected claims and comparisons between the Libertarian candidate and the Republican candidate, designed to make me vote for the Libertarian.

But it was sent by the Democrats. Obviously to try to split off some
votes and keep the Republican from winning.

At least they acknowledged (in very small print) that it was a Democrat mailer, but it was a weasel move. I guess that's what it takes when you have nothing else to offer the voter.

Hundreds of young black conservatives from across the country united in front of the White House last week to denounce the Democratic Party and call for members of the black community to join them.

The rally was led by Turning Point USA’s Director of Communications Candace Owens, and Director of Urban Engagement Brandon Tatum, following their meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House.

“Black people do not have to be Democrats,” said Owens into a megaphone, “In fact, the argument needs to be made that black people should not be democrats. They destroyed our communities, they’ve taken our fathers out of the home, they’ve made broken promises. It is time for a change and Donald Trump is delivering that.”

The crowd cheered, as a large group of onlookers stopped to listen.

“As a black American living in this country, why is it that I’m expected to hate my police? Why is it that I’m expected to hate my president? And why is it that I am expected to hate my country?” said Mark Lutchman, another young conservative.

“I say that we have the best police, the best president, and the best country in the whole world,” Lutchman continued, “And I’m here, asking the rest of the black community to join us, and to see through the lies and the manipulation, and the deception of the Democratic Party that has been going on for far too long.”

Morale of the Caravan Migrants Might Be Eroding

Morale appears to be eroding inside the migrant caravans pushing toward the United States, with members dropping out to return home, some opting to try their luck in Mexico, and others demanding “safe and dignified transport,” as the endless walking begins to take its toll.

The first of the three caravans attempting the journey is still at least 1,000 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border. A Fox News crew traveling with the leading caravan Tuesday observed migrants lining a bridge outside of the town of Niltepec, hoping to get rides in a series of buses that were lined up.

That caravan is estimated to contain 4,000 people — but the number is slowly shrinking as weary travelers drop out or apply for protected status in Mexico, spurring the caravan’s leaders to make the request for help with transportation to Mexico’s capital, according to the Associated Press.

“Of the friends that I have been with, all want to go back,” Hasiel Isamar Hernandez, a 28-year-old mother of three from Honduras, told the news agency.

Hernandez added she decided to drop out of the caravan after hearing from her husband that her three-year-old daughter back home had stopped eating because she missed her mother.

Pittsburgh Synagogue Rabbi Says ‘Good Will Always Win Out’ in Spite of Evildoers

Pittsburgh Rabbi Jeffrey Myers said he’s chosen to believe “good will always win out” in spite of the tragedy that occurred during Saturday’s shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue.

Myers appeared on CNN’s “New Day” Tuesday to discuss the mass shooting that claimed the lives of 11 people and wounded several others. The suspect has been identified as Robert Bowers and reportedly screamed, “All Jews must die,” according to KDKA. He was also allegedly armed with two pistols and an AK-47.

“I don’t think there’s a magic solution to breaking hate—I think every human being has the capability of being evil and of being good. They make a personal choice which direction they want to go,” Myers said. “I’ve made the choice and some say rather naively, but I’ve made the choice that good will always win out and that this is not about any one person, this is about hate, and that good must win. The alternative, I don’t want to think about.”

Host Alisyn Camerota asked Myers about the backlash he’s received for saying President Donald Trump was welcome to visit his synagogue, and Myers said he had received so many hateful emails that he’s lost count.

“When I first said that the president was welcome, I received a lot of email[s], too numerous to count, I can’t keep track. For every email I read, two appear as I’m reading that one, so I just cannot keep up with it,” Myers replied.

“I’ve received many emails that are not happy with those words. The thing that saddens me is those emails also contain hate. And it just continues in this vicious cycle. Hate promulgating more hate promulgating more hate, and that’s just not the solution. We need to be better than this. We can be better than this.”

Congressional Black Caucus chairman wants black in 1 of top 2 posts if Democrats take House

The chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus says the influential group wants a black lawmaker in one of the House’s two top Democratic jobs next year if Nancy Pelosi or other party leaders don’t retain their posts in the new Congress.

Louisiana Democratic Rep. Cedric Richmond wrote colleagues Thursday that despite the party’s “celebration of diversity,” a black lawmaker has never held one of the two top jobs.

The Louisiana lawmaker adds, “It’s time we walk our talk.” The letter was obtained by The Associated Press.

Kavanaugh Declines $600K GoFundMe While His Accuser Walks With Over $1 Million, Book Offers

Brett Kavanaugh - considered to be the poorest Supreme Court Justice on the bench, has declined nearly $600,000 that was donated to him through a GoFundMe campaign amid a firestorm of sexual misconduct charges during his confirmation process, according to Yahoo! News.

"because of judicial ethics restraints, Justice Kavanaugh and his family cannot accept or direct the funds," reads an update to the GoFundMe campaign.

John Hawkins, a veteran conservative blogger who runs a Kavanaugh-inspired “men’s website” called Brass Pills, organized the fundraising campaign. On Tuesday, Hawkins posted what he referred to as an “official statement” from Kavanaugh’s representatives distancing the justice from the effort:

“Justice Kavanaugh did not authorize the use of his name to raise funds in connection with the GoFundMe campaign. He was not able to do so for judicial ethics reasons. Judicial ethics rules caution judges against permitting the use of the prestige of judicial office for fund-raising purposes. Justice Kavanaugh will not accept any proceeds from the campaign, nor will he direct that any proceeds from the campaign be provided to any third party. Although he appreciates the sentiment, Justice Kavanaugh requests that you discontinue the use of his name for any fund-raising purpose.” -Yahoo! News

The GoFundMe page was organized by veteran conservative blogger, John Hawkins, who said he organized the page in case Kavanaugh needed the funds for an attorney or security.

And while Kavanaugh will forever have a #MeToo asterisk next to his name, his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford - who lives in a Palo Alto, CA house worth over $3 million, raked in over $1 million in donations from crowdfunding campaigns, and has reportedly been fielding book offers, according to Paul Sperry of RealClearInvestigations.

Trump Supporters Chant 'Lock Him Up!' After Mention of Andrew Gillum

President Donald Trump led a political rally in Estero, Florida on Wednesday, supporting the Republican candidate for Governor Rep. Ron DeSantis.

During the rally, DeSantis took the stage to criticize his Democratic opponent Andrew Gillum for taking bribes from an undercover FBI agent and doing favors for lobbyists.

“Maybe we should impeach Gillum as mayor of Tallahassee!” DeSantis said as Trump supporters shouted, “Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up!”

Two more children contract adenovirus at New Jersey pediatric center

Two more children have been diagnosed with the potentially fatal adenovirus that has already killed nine others at the same New Jersey rehabilitation center.

The most recent case was diagnosed on October 29, and brings the total number of illnesses at the facility to 27 children and one staff member (who has since recovered).

The news of this latest case comes just after the New Jersey Department of Health issued its report after a surprise inspection of the facility, the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation found that its staff was negligent about hand-washing.

Otherwise, the health department officials found that that the facility's staff was taking appropriate precautions during the visit.

Still, the Department of Health's commissioner, Dr Shereef Elnahal told NJ Spotlight it would take 'aggressive steps' to control infections at Wanaque and University Hospital and prevent outbreaks at other facilities.

Lindsey Graham To Introduce Bill Ending Birthright Citizenship

With one week left before the Nov. 6 midterm vote, President Trump and his allies in Congress have managed to establish immigration policy as the de facto dominant issue with the revelation that Trump is planning an executive order to eliminate birthright citizenship in the US. But in the event that Trump's order is challenged and overturned by the federal courts (which is extremely possible despite the confirmations of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh), South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a former adversary turned staunch Congressional ally, said Tuesday that he would introduce legislation to eliminate what he described as an "absurd" policy.

First, Graham - who is rumored to be on Trump's shortlist of candidates for a cabinet role after a post-election cleanout - applauded Trump for his decision (which he made public in an Axios interview published Tuesday morning)...

...then followed this up by declaring that he has always supported eliminating birthright citizenship, noting that the US is "one of only two countries in the world" that establishes citizenship by birth (though the accurate number is closer to 30). He argued that the policy is a magnet for illegal immigration and is "out of the mainstream" for the developed world and "needs to come to an end."

Oregon Could Elect Its First Republican Governor In Nearly Four Decades

Oregon voters are on the cusp of putting a Republican in the state governor’s mansion for the first time in nearly 40 years. Such a move would break convention and shift a reliably blue state into a win for the GOP.

Many Oregonians and some conservative critics believe Democratic Gov. Kate Brown has not moved forcefully enough to close a yawning $22 billion public pension deficit. So, they’re looking at Brown’s opponent Knute Buehler, a two-term representative in the state who has criticized President Donald Trump in the past. His moderate tone is gaining some steam.

“This is the first candidate I’m crossing party lines for in 20 years,” Danielle Miller, a mortgage loan officer who voted for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016, told The Wall Street Journal Sunday. “Oregon is so behind in so many ways … under our current leadership.”

Oregon would join the handful of states Clinton won in 2016 that have Republican governors. The race is still tight, with recent polls showing Brown ahead by less than 5 percentage points. RealClearPolitics, Cook Political Report, and other polling outfits are rating the race a “toss up.”

Ron DeSantis: Andrew Gillum Will Turn Florida into ‘A Petri Dish' for George Soros

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis is warning that if Democratic opponent Andrew Gillum is victorious then his state will “become a petri dish for people like George Soros and Tom Steyer,” referring to the activist billionaires.

“And I think that that will have a really negative effect,” continued DeSantis, speaking to Breitbart News in an exclusive interview.

“[Gillum] is in the pocket of people like Tom Steyer and George Soros. So if he is able to win in a state like Florida I think you are going to see a conflagration across the country of these hard left candidates emerging and they can do a lot of damage if they could get into office.”

The Anti-Semitic Media Fight Anti-Semitism

The fake news media has made it official.

Criticizing George Soros, an anti-Semite and alleged Nazi collaborator, is anti-Semitic. The Washington Post alone ran two dishonest screeds, “Conspiracy Theories about Soros Aren't Just False, They're Anti-Semitic” and “A Conspiracy Theory about George Soros and a Migrant Caravan Inspired Horror.”

The former comes from Talia Lavin, a former New Yorker fact checker who had to resign after falsely claiming that a wheelchair bound ICE agent’s Afghanistan platoon tattoo was Nazi insignia. Seeing her potential for smearing people, Media Matters hired her as a “researcher” on “far-right extremism”.

What wasn’t good enough for the New Yorker was good enough for the Washington Post, which brought in a disgraced employee of Media Matters, an organization funded by George Soros, to accuse Soros critics of anti-Semitism. The Post did not see fit to inform readers of the fact that its pro-Soros screed was funded by a Soros group, only describing Lavin as “a writer and researcher based in Brooklyn”.
