Sam's Club Members Get Gas For $ .15 Cents A Gallon Less
If you have a 20 gallon tank, you can fill up your tank and buy two Nathan's Hot Dog Combos and it will still be less than the local competition! While most stations are $1.85 per gallon, Sam's Club is $1.70 a gallon. Thanks Sam's! I also hear a gallon of milk is a whole lot less per gallon than any place else.

Maryland High Court Joins Growing Consensus Protecting Anonymous Speech Online
On Friday, the Court of Appeals of Maryland quashed a subpoena seeking the identity of five anonymous commenters and provided guidance to lower courts regarding what showing an aggrieved plaintiff must make before a court will order a website operator to reveal the identity of an anonymous commenter. In Independent Newspapers, Inc. v. Brodie, the Maryland high court concluded that
a test requiring notice and opportunity to be heard, coupled with a showing of a prima facie case and the application of a balancing test -- such as the standard set forth in Dendrite, 775 A.2d at 760-61 -- most appropriately balances a speaker's consitutional right to anonymous Internet speech with a plaintiff's right to seek judicial redress from defamatory remarks.
Ind. Newspapers, Inc. v. Brodie, No. 63, slip op. at 41 (Md. Feb. 27, 2009) (citing Dendrite International v. Doe, 775 A.2d 756 (N.J. App. Div. 2001)). For factual background, see our database entry, Brodie v. Independent Newspapers, Inc. (Subpoena), and Wendy Davis's article on the case.

Chief Investigator William Harden Reinstated AGAIN!
Yesterday we produced this article discussing Mr. Harden returning to work after several months away from the WCDC. Once he arrived to work he was escorted back out of the building with a slap in the face and was clueless where to turn. Human Resources instructed him to return to his full-time position after an Appeals Board hearing was held and reversed any and all charges against Mr. Harden.
Today I was told that allegedly Mr. Doug Devenyns wants to appeal that Boards decision but from my understanding that Boards decision is final and cannot be appealed.
I spoke with the County Executives Office just moments ago and they informed me that Mr. Pollitt got right on top of this one and resolved whatever issues there may have been and Mr. Harden will return back to work, (once again) Monday morning at 9:00 AM.
Maybe I should go steak out the place so I can get some photos of Mr. Harden being escorted out of the building again? Then again, perhaps the Warden will consider a brief vacation to collect his thoughts and stop screwing with peoples lives/careers. Time will tell.
Look, I respect Rick Pollitt and his Administration but this kind of BS needs to come to an immediate end. I believe that there are times when power simply goes to some one's head and they think they're untouchable. (like we don't know a whole bunch of their type right here in the Salisbury area) Let's move onward gentlemen. Mr. Harden will go back to his same salary but the job position was a topic the Executive's Office was not willing to discuss.
State Police Probe Theft Of Dog
Rehoboth Beach – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a theft of a miniature Yorkshire terrier that occurred at East Coast Exotics located in the Rehoboth Mall.
Troopers responded to the business yesterday at approximately 6:20 pm and learned three subjects removed the dog from the business without paying for it. The dog was valued at approximately $1600.00.
The three suspects have been described as one white male and two white female juveniles. Both females were described as 5’03” to 5’05” and weighing between 110 and 130 pounds. Of particular interest is the fact that one of the females was wearing a black knit cap with Tinker Bell on the front and she had two lip rings on her lower lip. The male was described as approximately 6’ tall with short brown hair.
Currently, no video surveillance is available. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact investigators at Troop 7 at 302.645.5020 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333.
EDITORS NOTE: To those of you who have purchased one of our Yorkies, just remember what the puppy above is valued at in a Pet Store. I can guarantee they're not from 100% Champion blood lines either. If anyone hears of someone getting a new puppy Yorkie, please contact the DE. State Police above.

Wireless Store Broken Into & Robbed Yesterday
"Hey Joe,
My wife and I were in the Verizon branch, I think its called Wireless Zone.
It's located on Rt. 50 in the Food Lion plaza across from Kmart. It was robbed yesterday around 2 am. 2 guys broke the glass door with one of those cigarette butt things they have outside then took 13 of their high dollars cell phones.
Funny thing is they have it on video and have been able to match it up with earlier footage. Apparently these two guys had come in earlier asking which phones work with the pay as you go mins. The city police told her this is the 3rd palce robbed like this but they are only ones with video.. Hasn't been released yet but thought you'd like the heads up. This is across from the Wendys that was just hit couple weeks ago. Last night when we left there was 3 sherrif cars in the parking lot at different

Question #3
Would Be Robber Gets His A** Kicked By Customers
Doms Deli, 135 Prangs Lane, New Castle, Delaware, New Castle County
Date and Time of Occurrence: Thursday, March 5, 2009, at approximately 12:10 p.m.
Suspect(s): Gerald T. Bulat, 28, of Middleboro Road in Wilmington
Resume: Yesterday, a robbery suspect got more than he bargained for when he tried to rob a New Castle area delicatessen.
At lunch time, 28-year-old Gerald T. Bulat, Jr, walked into the Dom’s Deli on Prangs Lane, in New Castle, with an article of clothing covering his face. He was transported back to Troop 2 where he was formally charged with the following offenses: Robbery 1st (felony), Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony (felony) and Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony (felony).

Md. appeals court protects anonymous Web posters
from baltimoresun.com
Maryland's Court of Appeals today issued a decision protecting the identity of three anonymous Internet posters and, for the first time, offering guidelines for state courts to follow in libel cases before unmasking online commenters.
The opinion and instructions stem from a defamation lawsuit filed by Eastern Shore developer Zebulon Brodie against three unknown Internet posters and Independent Newspapers Inc., which runs an online community forum.
The posters had written critical comments about the cleanliness of a Dunkin' Donuts that Brodie owns in Centreville.
The Appeals Court concluded that Brodie was not entitled to identifying information about the posters, even though they used the forum to criticize him and his business, because he misidentified which usernames made the offending statements.
[Two Sentz Edit: What does that mean? If he identified them correctly, he would have been entitled?I don't get this.]
The five-step process the court adopted for future cases was borrowed from a New Jersey court and outlined in today's 43-page majority opinion. It seeks to help trial courts "balance First Amendment rights with the right to seek protection for defamation" by suggesting they:
• Require that plaintiffs notify anonymous parties that their identities are sought.
• Give the posters time to reply with reasons why they should remain nameless.
• Require plaintiffs identify the defamatory statements and who made them.
• Determine whether the complaint has set forth a prima facie defamation, where the words are obviously libelous, or a per quod action, meaning it requires outside evidence.
• Weigh the poster's right to free speech against the strength of the case and the necessity of identity disclosure.
A five-page concurring opinion by three of the seven judges accepts steps one through three but asks for clarification on step four as to how prima facie nature should be shown and outright rejects step five as "unnecessary and needlessly complicated."

Question #2
HISTORICAL MOMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER
New Security Measures?
This is an actual border crossing between Gaza and Egypt. That's a Hamas fighter in the scanner. Link.
810 E. Church Street
"Dear Mr. Albero,
I am emailing you the enclosed pictures as a last resort. The dog featured here, albeit blurry because I was in a moving car, has been the subject of numerous complaints to animal control (starting when he mauled my neighbor in summer 2007) but more recently because of his health. You can see his ribs and hips sticking out, and this morning I noticed a large sore on his right hip.
Animal Control has done absolutely nothing to help this dog. There are two more dogs at this house, which is also under investigation/fix-up order from Neighborhood Services. You can probably see the bright green sticker next to the door in one of the pictures. One dog is kept in a kennel outside, and one is in a small crate inside the house.. They are rarely fed - usually by neighbors who just throw food at them because nobody will go near them.
My hope is, if you would post these pictures, or get some better ones, then maybe something will be done. (but don't go near him, because he has a history of attacking anyone but the owner) It is not the dog's fault that he is vicious - that is the result of a lifetime of abuse & neglect - but he needs help.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide."
Editors Note: Don't you worry, I have someone on it as we speak. Here's a very recent message from Linda Lugo
"Hi Joe,
I have put a call in to City Animal Control...officer gets in this morning at 11:00 and hopefully he will call me first thing. I will get details of this situation and see what is going on...if the answers are not satisfactory then I will contact their supervisor. We are unable to go into the city limits unless asked for assistance. I agree with you 100% that something needs to be done ASAP. I will let you know what I find out. Please keep this between us for now. Thanks.
Linda
P.S.
The Kentucky dogs are doing great! They are getting shots, ears cleaned, nails clipped...
a regular day at the spa! And so far 6 have been tested for heartworms, lyme and erlichia and all are negative! I'll talk to you this afternoon."
Carroll Standard Removed From Blognetnews
I was recently annoyed at a newer Blog called Carroll Standard because they seemed to be copying AP articles and posting them as their own. There was no reference to "AP" and or links to the original articles. The standard when doing so would be to use the first two paragraphs and then link to the balance of the article from the AP, (Associated Press).
I contacted the Editor of Blognetnews and they immediately took a look at their Site and agreed, there was no original content whatsoever. David Mastio replied, "I have removed them until they can give me a reasonable feed. Thanks for the tip."
My hat is tipped to David for taking the time to look at this as this could reflect Blognetnews reputation/image. While we have even been guilty of receiving an e-mail with information on it written from someone else, if it says "AP" on it or comes with a author, we will research it to see if we can find where it came from and place a link to it. That is not always easy to find, especially photos. Nevertheless, Carroll Standard was copying everything they Posted and this just isn't right.
I even noticed Monoblogue using a cartoon the other day without a link. Other Bloggers have given me crap for doing that and we have stopped that practice because they're right. Sometimes there's just not enough time in a day to run around trying to find where some of these came from, especially when they're forwarded in an e-mail. We all need to work on this more.

HOW BARRIE HELPED COMEGYS SURVIVE – MAYBE – BY FREE ADS ON WICO-1320 AM
Although he got 38 more votes at the polls on March 3, Bubba’s lead has been reduced to 12 after the initial count of 143 absentee ballots yesterday (March 5). There are another 50 or so ballots to be considered, and we won’t have the final count until next Friday.
Regardless of whether Comegys survives the primary (by taking second place behind Jim Ireton), it’s now indisputable that he would not be in contention at this point without the complicity of Barrie Tilghman. That’s not surprising in light of her effort to boost Bubba’s reelection to the City Council in 2007, when Barrie led the character assassination effort directed at Tim Spies at a last minute media event that she staged.
This time around, Barrie has used the forum provided by radio station WICO-1320 AM, which allows her to do a weekly program in her capacity as mayor. Described as a “weekly public affairs program of WICO news,” it’s a half hour show (actually about 24 minutes) over which she seems to have complete content control. Acting as the host she interviews guests, usually City employees who explain aspects of the City’s government. The show is prime-slotted at 8:30 AM on Monday morning with earlier slots on Sunday.
This week’s show features Comegys as the guest, and it ran at least 3 times on the two days immediately before the primary election. Why she invited Bubba but none of the other mayoral candidates to speak with her was not mentioned. Nor did she inform the audience that she and her husband have donated $500 to Comegys’ campaign.
In her opening statement Barrie reminds listeners that she is “retiring” and then proceeds to introduce Comegys as “one of the candidates for mayor.” After having him discuss his background, she asks him what he has done on the Council that most satisfies him: “putting the City $40 Million in debt to upgrade the wastewater treatment plant.”
It soon becomes obvious that the show is a scripted promo piece for Bubba that plainly distorts his record in order to portray him as the initiator of matters that were actually initiated by other members of the Council. Significant parts of his voting record that would clash with the desired portrait of his “leadership” are simply omitted.
After 20 or so minutes of pure propaganda, Barrie asks Bubba “why are you the best choice,” which prompts a final self-serving spiel, followed by her wishing “good luck, Gary, then the fade out music.
Those familiar with Comegys’ conduct on the Council react to his blather by either turning it off or uncontrollable laughter. But anyone not aware of the real Bubba could easily be duped by this charade that the management of WICO allowed to be broadcast without the standard “and I approve this message” proviso required for political ads. Only 10-15 such voters, perhaps even fewer, would make a difference who becomes Mr. Ireton’s opponent in the general election on April 8. So it is plausible that this show might make the difference in who will be the next mayor and, thus, the future of Salisbury.
There’s a short spoof of the show using soundbites from it. A link to this little gem has already been posted - http://sbynews.blogspot.com/2009/03/bubba-comegys-yo-nex-mare-rotflmao.html - ENJOY!

Man Murders Woman From Mardela & Becomes Millionaire From His Jail Cell
"How Did Bill Ennis Become A Millionaire In Prison."
Let me tell you an unbelievable story of how I lost everything, to being built back up stronger physically and mentally than I ever have been in my life.
My story starts in July, 1997. Three weeks before I got locked up, I was feeling a little down and without energy. I decided to use for the first time my HMO health insurance through my job at the time (Montgomery Wards). I went to see the doctor, and the doctor said, "they have this new prescription drug on the market, take it and you will feel like a new man." I filled the prescription on my insurance card. The pill gave me energy. After taking it daily for 2 weeks, I committed a murder and also tried to commit suicide.
When they took my blood at the hospital, the only thing they found was this prescription drug. I told my attorney for my criminal trial, "I think this drug made me do this terrible thing!" He said, "this drug is new to the market and there is nothing to prove this drug was the cause that made you do this murder/attempted suicide." Anyone who knows me knows that I was never a violent person and that this was totally out of character for me. I took a plea bargain so I didn't have to spend the rest of my life in prison.
In 2000, I'm sitting in my cell watching television and I see this commercial that says, "Have you been hurt by this Prescription Drug?" I wrote the number down and called my mom. In 2004, after 4 years of fighting instead of going to court and maybe getting nothing, I took an out of court settlement of $400,000. This is not much, considering some people that took this drug and their families got millions. After my television attorneys took their cut, it only left me with $260,000. These are the only details that I can give because of the terms of my settlement.
At the time I thought if I just put this money in the bank, at least there would be enough to buy myself a house when released from prison. A release date was still quite a few years away. I have no bills in prison and no debts outside of prison. A civil suit by my victim's family was out of the question because of a three-year statue of limitation. This money was burning a hole in pocket. I said to myself, "why not invest half of it into some kind of business, stock, real estate, or something?"
I put half ($130,000) into a sure thing; the bank (Certificate of Deposit). I then proceeded to contact a financial advisor, right out of the phone book (Yellow Pages). This was someone who I would trust to invest the other half ($130,000) because my knowledge was limited in the investment world.
Through my mom who was handling phone calls, I was told to put my money into a stock that was getting ready to go public (Google). Of course, everybody had heard of Google. It was suppose to be short term. I got in at $89/share, and it would go up to $110/share.
I bought 1460 shares. Get in get out, right? Wrong? I didn't get out. It got all the way up to $693/share. I sold the stock at $552/share in 2007. What a ride watching it everyday. Now I am one of Maryland's newest millionaires. I found out that it is easy to make money, especially when you have money. But the best thing is, I don't have any bills or expenses (mortgage, car payment, insurance, food, utilities, etc.) in prison. The question now is, how much money will I make before I get released from prison?
The hard thing is seeing a house or car on television and knowing that I can buy it. Some days my mind just spins thinking how I want to spend the money. Drop me a few lines if you would like to hear what my plans are with my newfound wealth and what I am currently working on and also my future plans. I would like to hear from you and some of the things that are going on out there.
What Bill doesn't tell you is how he shot his 19 year old girlfriend and then turned her over and shot her again three more times. He got 40 years and wasn't supposed to be up for parole for 20 years, yet after only 11 years he has been in front of the Parole Board already but because he showed no sign of remorse they denied him. Can you believe this murderer has a Website from Jail?
There's Been A Change Of Date On Counting Ballots
Rather than waiting until Friday the 13th of March, some 50 ballots will be counted this coming Monday instead. The remaining ballots, military absentee & provisional will be counted on Friday the 13th. So we could have a pretty good idea what to expect this coming Monday. 5 Ballots were throw out on Thursday because the voters forgot to sign the Ballot!
Apple Pie & Chevrolets
Isn't it amazing how the landscape of America is changing. I took this picture the other day while traveling the back road of Delaware. Perhaps I'm starting to become historic because these old Barns are disappearing and who knows, General Motors might be gone soon too. Well, at least we still have apple pies in the mean time and pictures that can make these fond memories last forever. Have a great day today Folks!

Tim Chaney, Nothing But Class
I want to personally thank Mr. Tim Chaney for stepping up to the plate and doing what he felt was best for District 1. As you can see from the photos above, Tim has no hard feelings and appreciates every one's support. I'm told Tim will keep his Campaign Signs and perhaps make a go at it again in the future. In the mean time, on a great note, Tim will be taking classes to better his career and advance that part of his life instead. We wish you the very best Tim. I should add, Congratulations to Cynthia Polk who has advances in votes to the #1 position over Shanie Shields. It's very tough to beat out an incumbent. Speakes volume to me.

A Blonde Guy Joke
A blonde guy goes to the big football game, he has great seats on the 50 yard line, 8 rows up, perfect.
Just before kickoff he hears someone behind him yelling,
"Arnold, we're up here, Arnold!"
He turns around and misses the kickoff! A short while later, just as the quarterback throws a long bomb, the same guy starts yelling,
"Hey Arnold, we're up here, Arnold!!"
Again he turns around and again he misses the play
This goes on for every big play. He hears the guy shouting,
"Hey Arnold, look up here!" He turns around and misses the play.
Finally, fuming mad, he turns around, pulls out his binoculars and scans the crowd for the guy doing all the yelling. He eventually spots him, after missing yet another big play. He runs up the stands, nearly to the top of the stadium. Pulls the guy out into the aisle, picks him up by the lapels and shouts,
"Shut-up, my name isn't Arnold!!"

USAF Lt. Col. Grant L. Rosensteel, Jr. Responds To Newspaper Letter
Luke AFB is west of Phoenix and is rapidly being surrounded by civilization that complains about the noise from the base and its planes, forgetting that it was there long before they were. A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the back. Apparently, an individual who lives somewhere near Luke AFB wrote the
local paper complaining about a group of F-16s that disturbed his/her day at the mall.
When that individual read the response from a Luke AFB officer, it must Have stung quite a bit.
The complaint:
'Question of the day for Luke Air Force Base:
Whom do we thank for the morning air show? Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 A.M, a tight formation of four F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune! Do the Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns early bird special?
Any response would be appreciated.
The response:
Regarding 'A wake-up call from Luke's jets' On June 15, at precisely 9:12 a.m., a perfectly timed four- ship fly by of F-16s from the 63rd Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base flew over the grave of Capt. Jeremy Fresques. Capt Fresques was an Air Force officer who was previously stationed at Luke Air Force Base and was killed in Iraq on May 30, Memorial Day.
At 9 a. m. on June 15, his family and friends gathered at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City to mourn the loss of a husband, son and friend. Based on the letter writer's recount of the fly by, and because of the jet noise, I'm sure you didn't hear the 21-gun salute, the playing of taps, or my words to the widow and parents of Capt. Fresques as I gave them their son's flag on behalf of the President of the United States and all those veterans and servicemen and women who understand the sacrifices they have endured..
A four-ship fly by is a display of respect the Air Force gives to those who give their lives in defense of freedom. We are professional aviators and take our jobs seriously, and on June 15 what the letter writer witnessed was four officers lining up to pay their ultimate respects.
The letter writer asks, 'Whom do we thank for the morning air show? The 56th Fighter Wing will make the call for you, and forward your thanks to the widow and parents of Capt Fresques, and thank them for you, for it was in their honor that my pilots flew the most honorable formation of their lives.
Only 2 defining forces have ever offered to die for you....Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Colonies Of 'Cybots' May Defend Government Networks
The Cybot Age could soon be upon us. But be not afraid; this isn't Star Trek. We're not talking droves of evil cyborgs bent on galaxy domination.
If all goes as planned, in just a few years colonies of software robots -- "cybots" -- linked into a "hive" mind could be defending the largest computer systems in America against network intruders.
Researchers at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory say the program behind the cybots — Ubiquitous Transient Autonomous Mission Entities (UNTAME) — will be very different from current cybersecurity systems.
Joe Trien, who leads the team at the lab's Computational Sciences and Engineering Division, said what will make cybots so useful is that they will be able to form groups, function autonomously and respond almost immediately.
Trien likened the UNTAME framework to the Borg, a fictitious race of cybernetic organisms in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" that assimilated other cultures throughout the galaxy.
"The difference between an agent-based system and UNTAME is that the cybots are designed to function on their own and they can regenerate," he said. "It works with other robots, and what it does is known by the collective. So when you lose a robot, the collective hasn't lost the information that robot was able to achieve up until the point it was killed."
That's a quantum leap from current network "intelligent agents," which specialize in a single task and report to a central node or human administrator.
Trien said there is little danger that cybots will organize and take over the world, stressing that the real-life "cyborg collective" would be bound by human directives. But he did acknowledge that there is a risk of malicious cybots running awry.
"There's always that risk, and that's why we’re hesitant right now," Trien said. "If we don't put some boundaries on these cybots, they could turn against us. The potential is always there."

AN IRISH BLONDE IN A CASINO
An attractive blonde from Cork , Ireland arrived at the casino. She seemed a little intoxicated and bet twenty-thousand Euros on a single roll of the dice.
She said, 'I hope you don't mind, but I feel much luckier when I'm completely nude'.
With that, she stripped from the neck down, rolled the dice and with an Irish brogue yelled, 'Come on, baby, Mama needs new clothes!'
As the dice came to a stop, she jumped up and down and squealed...'YES! YES! I WON, I WON!' She hugged each of the dealers and then picked up her winnings and her clothes and quickly departed.
The dealers stared at each other dumbfounded. Finally, one of them asked, 'What did she roll?'
The other answered, 'I don't know - I thought you were watching.'
MORAL OF THE STORY -
