Troopers Urge Safety And Sobriety As Enforcement Increases During Memorial Day Weekend
(PIKESVILLE, MD) – With extra traffic expected this Memorial Day weekend, additional Maryland State Police troopers will be on patrol and using a variety of initiatives to keep traffic moving, respond quickly to highway incidents and take appropriate enforcement action when violations are observed that threaten the safety of travelers.
Beginning Friday, troopers from each of the 23 Maryland State Police barracks statewide will be focusing enforcement efforts on impaired driving, aggressive driving, speeding, distracted driving and other violations that often contribute to highway tragedies. Additional troopers will be working overtime assignments funded by highway safety grants from the Maryland Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
Troopers from the JFK Highway Barrack patrol I-95 from north of Baltimore to the Delaware line. They will focus on distracted driving and minimizing delays caused by crashes and traffic violations. Troopers will also be working high visibility patrols and assisting travelers moving through the state.
Troopers from the Golden Ring, North East, Westminster and Bel Air barracks will all be conducting DUI saturation patrols in their counties. Increased patrols will occur from Friday through Memorial Day.
The Frederick, Hagerstown, Cumberland, and McHenry barracks are deploying extra troopers along I-70 and I-68, with the largest number of troopers working during the peak travel times. Troopers working other interstates will focus on keeping traffic moving and assisting motorists who need help.
Troopers on the Eastern Shore will be directing their heaviest enforcement to Rt. 50 and Rt. 13. Impaired driving and speed enforcement will be the priorities there. Drivers, especially those headed to Ocean City, are urged to be on constant alert for pedestrians. Pedestrians are reminded to use crosswalks, obey traffic control devices and dress for visibility.

'I Hope This Will Set A Precedent,' Says Trans Teen Who Won Case Over Bathroom Access
A federal judge in Virginia has ruled that a high school discriminates against a trans student named Gavin Grimm by denying him access to the restroom that corresponds to his gender identity. Grimm says the ruling was "really fantastic," not just for him, but for trans youth in general.
"The court case moved on ... from being about my interests almost as soon as it started," he told NPR's Ari Shapiro on Wednesday. "This case has implications for other trans students across this nation, and that is what I'm focused on. ... I hope that this will set a positive legal precedent that will aid other trans students in guiding their schools to better support them."
As a sophomore in high school, with his school administrators' permission, Grimm had used the boys' bathroom for seven weeks without incident before parents heard about it. The Gloucester County School Board intervened and mandated that all students use facilities matching their "biological genders," with a single-stall unisex restroom available for Grimm.

Congress Working To Stop Vast Amounts Of Opioids Sent Through U.S. Postal Service
The nation's opioid epidemic has been attributed to many factors, including the over-prescription of painkillers and the availability of cheap synthetic opioids like fentanyl.
In Congress, lawmakers are trying to make it harder to buy fentanyl, in part by forcing the U.S. Postal Service to make it more difficult to send narcotics through the mail. But the measure has been languishing.
It's not clear how many shipments of fentanyl and other narcotics arrive with the mail carrier. But what is clear, says former Department of Homeland Security official Juliette Kayyem is: It's all too easy to get drugs delivered right to your mailbox.
"If you go on the dark Web and you look at these communications, they basically say 'well how can you get the stuff here,'" she said, "and they will just put it through the mail because the chances of it getting caught are just so minimal."
That's because the Postal Service receives some 1.3 million inbound packages a day from overseas, and manages to inspect just a tiny fraction — about 100, according to Kayyem.

The drop in temperatures at least merits a “Hey, what’s going on here?” story.
Inconvenient Science: NASA data show that global temperatures dropped sharply over the past two years. Not that you’d know it, since that wasn’t deemed news. Does that make NASA a global warming denier?
Writing in Real Clear Markets, Aaron Brown looked at the official NASA global temperature data and noticed something surprising. From February 2016 to February 2018, “global average temperatures dropped by 0.56 degrees Celsius.” That, he notes, is the biggest two-year drop in the past century.
“The 2016-2018 Big Chill,” he writes,“was composed of two Little Chills, the biggest five month drop ever (February to June 2016) and the fourth biggest (February to June 2017). A similar event from February to June 2018 would bring global average temperatures below the 1980s average.”

Sen. Rand Paul: It's Time to Say 'We're Not Going to Leave Our Kids Defenseless'
During a May 18 Fox News appearance Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said it is time for Americans to take a stand and say, “We’re not going to leave our kids defenseless.”
His comments came in the wake of the shooting that killed at least 8 at Santa Fe High School.
Paul said, “Why don’t we say it as a country – we’re not going to leave our kids defenseless. We’re going to defend them.”
He also spoke to Hollywood celebrities who react to a high profile firearm-based crime with calls for more gun control, saying, “Every Hollywood actor that hates guns has armed bodyguards defending them. So they hate guns unless the guns are defending them.”

Lawyer suing for Mueller’s media contacts: Produce documents now
Planned 'rolling production' will only allow 'dribbles of benign documents' to be released
A Washington watchdog lawyer suing to obtain access to special counsel Robert Mueller’s communications with the media is asking a court to order that the documents be made available now – not in “dribbles” over coming months or years.
Veteran courtroom fighter Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch has filed a response to government plans to roll out the documents – beginning months from now – in small releases.
“Defendants have regrettably done what Freedom Watch, Inc., and the undersigned counsel predicted,” Klayman told U.S. District Court in Washington. “In this regard, defendants cleverly want to drag out and slow roll production of documents, which by any stretch of the imagination cannot be exempt under FOIA, as they concern communications with the media and are likely to reveal grand jury leaks and other improper disclosure of information by the special counsel in its Russian collusion and related investigations.”

Hotel pools linked to many disease outbreaks
NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Here is something to think about before jumping into the pool on your next vacation. Hotel pools and hot tubs are breeding grounds for waterborne diseases.
A study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention find a third of all recreational waterborne disease outbreaks occurred in hotel pools or hot tubs and water play venues.
Between 2000 and 2014 the CDC recorded nearly 500 disease outbreaks related to recreational water use that resulted in more than 27,000 illnesses and eight deaths. Hotels were the leading setting, associated with 157 of the outbreaks.

Florida to monitor Broward election chief after judge finds ‘unlawful’ ballot destruction in Wasserman Schultz race
MIAMI — The elections supervisor in Florida’s second-most populous county broke state and federal law by unlawfully destroying ballots cast in Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s 2016 Democratic primary, a judge ruled Friday in a case brought by the congresswoman’s challenger who wanted to check for voting irregularities.
In light of the ruling, Gov. Rick Scott’s administration — which has expressed concerns with how Broward County Election Supervisor Brenda Snipes has handled the case — told POLITICO that he’s reviewing the judge’s order and will have her office monitored.

"The Stakes Here Go Beyond Trump's Future" WSJ Editors Demand Truth About FBI Spying
Amid all the liberal media's meltdown over President Trump's "interference" in the 'investigation' by "hereby demanding" that potential crimes by Obama's FBI be investigated - and The Deep State's insistence that any exposure of the already-leaked name of the Trump campaign spy would damage national security - The Wall Street Journal refuses to back off its intense pressure to get to the truth.
President Trump dropped a three-tweet quote this morning...
“John Brennan is panicking. He has disgraced himself, he has disgraced the Country, he has disgraced the entire Intelligence Community. He is the one man who is largely responsible for the destruction of American’s faith in the Intelligence Community and in some people at the...
...top of the FBI. Brennan started this entire debacle about President Trump. We now know that Brennan had detailed knowledge of the (phony) Dossier...he knows about the Dossier, he denies knowledge of the Dossier, he briefs the Gang of 8 on the Hill about the Dossier, which...
...they then used to start an investigation about Trump. It is that simple. This guy is the genesis of this whole Debacle. This was a Political hit job, this was not an Intelligence Investigation. Brennan has disgraced himself, he’s worried about staying out of Jail.”
- Dan Bongino
And WSJ appears to be doing just that - trying to get to the root of all this evil, which has time and again led to Brennan.

Judge Jeanine: Jeff Sessions Is 'the Most Dangerous Man in America
During her Saturday opening statement for “Justice” on Fox News Channel, Jeanine Pirro blasted Attorney General Jeff Sessions, calling him the “most dangerous man in America” because he has “done nothing to make anyone responsible for the blatant corruption” seen from the 2016 election.
“[Jeff Sessions] has done nothing to make anyone responsible for the blatant corruption, the unmistakable perjury, the in-your-face obstruction of our laws that we’ve seen play out every day. He has fought the release of telling documents that will put an end to this horrible period in America’s political history.
“This man has done nothing to create confidence that wrongdoers will be accountable, answerable. He has done nothing to create confidence on the part of the American people on our system of justice. And with all the power and might of the Department of Justice behind him, he continues to do nothing. He refuses to take them out in cuffs.”

Dozens of foreign ISIS brides sentenced to death in Iraq
Dozens of foreign ISIS brides are being sentenced to death in Iraq as the country exacts its revenge after three years of jihadi occupation.
Pleading that they themselves are victims, the women were given 10 minutes to beg for their lives before judges decide their sentence.
Many of them find little sympathy with the Iraqi judiciary and locals and are despised for their support of their militant husbands, who tore the country apart between 2014 and 2017.
French citizen Djamila Boutoutao, 29, appeared in court last month and claimed: “I thought I had married a rapper. It was only when we arrived in Turkey for a week-long ‘holiday’ that I discovered my husband was a jihadist.”
“I’m a victim. My husband beat me and locked me up in a cave with my children when I refused to follow him (to Iraq).”

A Viewer Writes: Wicomico County Public Schools
Would anyone care to explain why girls at Pittsville Elementary and Middle School were pulled from class today to have their shorts measured via being physically touched by members of the administrative staff? I would like to know when it became acceptable for teachers and staff to look under the tables in the lunch room to identify all girls wearing shorts, so they could be subsequently pulled from class for measuring of their shorts. Is it the policy of your schools to ogle and objectify children? If not, please explain how you plan to rectify what happened today, so it doesn’t happen in the future. Our girls deserve an uninterrupted education, free from fear of harassment; they should not be removed from class, paraded down the halls, and lined up to have their clothing scrutinized down to the millimeter, and they should especially never have their bodies touched, without their expressed permission, by grown men, or women, in positions of authority, for sake of a dress code. Our girls deserve better, and we want answers as to how you plan to treat them with basic respect and dignity in the future.

Work key to long life, says Mexican who may be world's oldest man
You wouldn't know it watching him take care of his chickens on the family farm, but according to his birth certificate and official Mexican ID, Manuel Garcia Hernandez is 121 years old.
Garcia, who may just be the world's oldest man, was born on 24 December 1896, according to his birth certificate from the Mexican state of Veracruz and his official identity card from the National Electoral Institute.
He has never bothered calling the people at Guinness World Records to make it official.
But if his documents are correct, he is more than eight years older than Masazo Nonaka of Japan, the man who currently holds the title -- born on 25 July 1905.
Anyway, age is only a number. Garcia says he doesn't feel a day over 80.
He says he only has two regrets in his very long life: losing his father at a young age, and the fact he can no longer work.
Yet he is impressively spry as he tosses feed to his chickens at the home he shares with his daughter Tomasa in Ciudad Juarez, northern Mexico.

The anti-Trump deep state is running out of excuses for DOJ
The Justice Department is not a fourth branch of government. This is an obvious statement of fact, but many senior government officials and their defenders in the media appear to need a reminder. While Congress created the Office of the Attorney General with the Judiciary Act of 1789, they didn’t get around to forming the Department of Justice until 1870.
From day one, DOJ has been an executive branch agency, which means the buck stops with one person: the president. DOJ is not “independent” of the rest of government. It cannot override presidential or congressional authority. To suggest otherwise is to wish for a rogue actor within the federal government that could negate checks and balances.

The mess Rod Rosenstein made
Many liberals and critics are under the mistaken belief that President Trump is violating the rule of law and civil liberties by criticizing the Robert Mueller investigation and by ordering the Justice Department’s Inspector General to investigate whether or not the FBI spied on his 2016 presidential campaign. In fact, the president is behaving totally lawfully, and it is Robert Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein who are acting unconstitutionally and who are violating Trump’s civil liberties.
Presidents George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson all gave orders to federal prosecutors to bring prosecutions, and Jefferson ordered a prosecution stopped. President Trump is entirely within his rights to ask the Justice Department’s inspector general to investigate whether the Obama administration got the FBI to spy on Trump’s campaign.

Wandering buskers and topless sunbathers take Ocean City to court
From inhaling buckets of Thrasher’s fries and Fisher’s popcorn to drinking at the naughtily named bars, letting loose nutritionally and otherwise is part of going to Ocean City every summer.
But even Maryland’s favorite resort town has to draw the line somwhere. And it’s apparently this side of profane language, bare breasts and unfettered busking.
“We’re always cognizant of our image, and we want to protect our image,” longtime Mayor Rick Meehan said. “We have something worth protecting.”
As another beach season gets underway, Ocean City is fighting in court and elsewhere to maintain its vision of itself as a family-friendly destination. And indeed, despite the randy tee shirts sold in souvenir shops and the boozy nightlife, it remains the place where parents bring kids who will grow up to become parents who bring kids to ride the giant ferris wheel, play in the video arcades and, of course, splash in ocean.

Franchot reverses position, wants alcohol sales in Maryland grocery stores
Comptroller Peter Franchot wants Maryland to join a majority of the U.S. and allow beer and wine sales in all grocery stores, marking a reversal from a previous stance he had on the issue as recently as last fall.
The Democratic comptroller said in an interview this week with the Business Journal that the move to legalize alcohol sales in supermarkets would "provide a shot in the arm" to local craft brewers, an industry he has been seeking to reform for more than a year.
The comments are drawing praise from the Maryland Retailers Associationand shock from the Maryland State Licensed Beverage Association.
Maryland law currently restricts most retail beer sales to liquor stores, with a few exceptions. Four grocery chains in Montgomery County have one store each that sells beer and wine under a grandfather clause. Talbot, Wicomico, Worcester and St. Mary's allow grocery stores to sell beer and wine. Prince George's County allows each corporation to have one location that sells beer and wine.

Caitlyn Jenner calls Trump 'worst president' on LGBT issues, says she won't support his re-election
Though she's an unapologetic Republican, Caitlyn Jenner says she won't be supporting President Trump's 2020 re-election because she has been "disappointed" in his views on LGBTQ issues.
Jenner called Trump the “worst president we have ever had” when it comes to representing the LGBTQ community in a recent interview with Broadly.
The former Olympic athlete and reality TV star has faced fierce backlash from peers since she revealed she voted for Trump in the 2016 election. At the time, she said it was harder to come out as transgender than as a member of the Republican Party.
"I would rather convince the Republican Party to do a better job when it comes to all LGBT issues than to try to convince the Democrats to lower taxes and lower regulations and let our country thrive financially and economically," Jenner told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" in April 2017.
Jenner now says she plans on "working from the inside" to get the Trump administration to understand her viewpoint on social issues.

Woman says Amazon device recorded private conversation, sent it to random contact
A Portland family contacted Amazon to investigate after they say a private conversation in their home was recorded by Amazon's Alexa -- the voice-controlled smart speaker -- and that the recorded audio was sent to the phone of a random person in Seattle, who was in the family’s contact list.
"My husband and I would joke and say I'd bet these devices are listening to what we're saying," said Danielle, who did not want us to use her last name.
Every room in her family home was wired with the Amazon devices to control her home's heat, lights and security system.
But Danielle said two weeks ago their love for Alexa changed with an alarming phone call. "The person on the other line said, 'unplug your Alexa devices right now,'" she said. "'You're being hacked.'"
That person was one of her husband's employees, calling from Seattle.

One Angry, Disillusioned Philly Resident Reflects On "30 Blocks Of Slavery"
“Trump is my brother. You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.” – Kanye West
The last few weeks has seen far too much honesty for the Democrat Party slave owners in Washington D.C. and the other liberal urban ghetto strongholds, as a couple uppity blacks have dared to question the liberal narrative. It all started when Kim Kardashian’s better half – Kanye West – dared to go off the plantation and speak his mind about Donald Trump, Candace Owens and black people in general. His tweet about Candace Owens started the shitstorm.
“I love the way Candace Owens thinks.”
It seems innocent enough, but Candace Owens happens to be a young black woman who has become a social media Twitter sensation because she promotes conservative values and criticizes the black victim-hood narrative promoted by liberal politicians and their mainstream media mouthpieces. Twitter exploded with outrage from the left and accolades from the right. Never to let an opportunity pass, Trump promptly tweeted:
“Thank you Kanye, very cool!”
The outrage and vitriol only grew more intense as Twitter exploded over the next few days. Trump, who Democrats and the left wing media constantly portray as a racist, again received props from another well known black rap artist – Chance the Rapper—who tweeted:
“Black people don’t have to be democrats.”
You could practically see the heads of Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi, Chuckie Schumer, Rachel Maddow, and Chris Cuomo exploding simultaneously as their black victim-hood narrative began to unravel. How dare these rogue black men and woman question the standard orthodoxy of the left, used to elect Democrats for decades in the deteriorating urban shitholes in which blacks overwhelmingly inhabit.

Police: Restaurant shooter killed by armed bystander in Oklahoma City
Police said the suspect shot two people before he was fatally shot by a bystander with a gun.
A suspected gunman was fatally shot by an armed bystander after opening fire on an Oklahoma City restaurant Thursday evening, according to police.
Oklahoma City police said a man with a gun walked into a popular restaurant, Louie's On The Lake, near Lake Hefner and shot two people. A bystander with a pistol then confronted the shooter and fatally shot him in the parking lot, according to OKCPD.
The two victims, a woman and a female juvenile, have been taken to the hospital but are expected to survive, police said. A man also broke his arm while trying to escape, and a fourth person suffered a minor injury, although police said it wasn't clear how it occurred.
A family member told KOCO-TV that her daughter and 12-year-old granddaughter were shot while entering the restaurant for the girl's birthday dinner. Authorities have not identified the injured patrons.
OKCPD said it does not know the shooter's motive or identity yet, but that it does not suspect the shooting was linked to terrorism.
"We have no reason to believe this is a terrorist type of incident," Capt. Bo Matthews, a police spokesman said.

Wow, word seems to be coming out that the Obama FBI “SPIED ON THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN WITH AN EMBEDDED INFORMANT.” Andrew McCarthy says, “There’s probably no doubt that they had at least one confidential informant in the campaign.” If so, this is bigger than Watergate!

Dems did ‘more damage’ to democracy than Russians ‘ever contemplated’
Rush Limbaugh indicts Comey, Clinton, Obama, others
Talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh Thursday released his own list of people who should be indicted as a result of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential race.
His list doesn’t include the president, the vice president, his administration or even his campaign staff.
It’s all about the Democrats.
“I’m out of descriptions. I’m out of accurate ways to characterize these people and what they have done,” he said. “I’m out of ways characterizing the genuine damage they have tried to inflict on the sanctity of this country.
“I’ll just tell you this. These people – James Comey, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, James Clapper, John Brennan, Peter Strzok, Sally Yates, Lisa Page, McCabe, these people have done more damage to the integrity of American democracy, the American electoral system, than anything the Russians have ever contemplated.”
He warned that every election and from now on will be suspect when the left loses.

Public invited to Wicomico’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony
SALISBURY, Md. – On the morning of Memorial Day, the public is invited to honor Wicomico County veterans who have died in the line of duty at the 16th annual Memorial Day Ceremony.
The ceremony is set for Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m., and it will take place at the Wicomico War Veterans' Memorial in front of the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this free event, which is organized by members of the Wicomico County War Memorial Committee. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the Civic Center’s Midway Room.
As part of the ceremony, there will be a lowering of the colors by the Wicomico County JROTC, ringing of the Red Knights Memorial Bell, branch prayers, and a volley of arms by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office. Veterans, as well as their families, will be recognized during the ceremony, including a special family tribute to Gold Star Mothers. War Memorial Committee members will perform the Reading of Veterans’ Names, which recognizes those Wicomico County residents who have fallen in the line of service. The Reading of Veterans’ Names is organized by Sgt. Ed Tattersall, U.S. Army, a committee member.
In 2002, a group of veterans from all branches of the military came together to honor and preserve the memory of Wicomico County’s fallen heroes. As a result, the Wicomico War Veterans' Memorial was erected at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center, which is itself a living war memorial to all veterans. Flags from each service branch, along with a United States, Maryland, Wicomico County and the POW-MIA flag, now proudly fly over a brick wall displaying bronze plaques with the names of Wicomico County’s fallen veterans beginning with World War I.
The Wicomico County War Memorial Committee has continued the work it began in 2002. Committee members are actively seeking information on those listed on the memorial. If you have information to share about a fallen serviceperson, please email Janice von Paris at jvparis@wicomicocounty.org.
To help preserve the memorial and honor a loved one who has or is serving, citizens may purchase a Tree of Honor Gold Leaf. Engraved with his or her name and a short message, the leaf will be displayed on the Veterans' Tree of Honor in the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center lobby. Leaves are $100 each. To purchase a leaf, please contact Janice von Paris at 410-548-4900, ext. 115. All proceeds are placed in a fund designated to maintain the War Memorial into perpetuity.

Clintonista Mark Penn: 'Deep State' Flailing as Mueller Probes Crumbles
Mark Penn — Hillary Clinton’s chief strategist during her 2008 presidential campaign who has served the Clinton family since the mid-90s — lowers the boom on Robert Mueller, Rod Rosenstein, Christopher Steele, the Clinton Foundation, and the intelligence community’s “deep state,” laying out the absurdity and the danger of the Obama administration’s abuse of surveillance and law enforcement against political enemies.
From The Hill:
The “deep state” is in a deep state of desperation. With little time left before the Justice Department inspector general’s report becomes public, and with special counsel Robert Mueller having failed to bring down Donald Trump after a year of trying, they know a reckoning is coming.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Democrats’ chances of flipping a Republican seat in South Carolina’s historically red 5th District took a major hit after court documents emerged Monday saying candidate Archie Parnell abused his ex-wife in the 1970's.
The stunning revelation has swiftly led to calls from his own party for the Democratic congressional candidate to withdraw from the race.
“This is truly a sad situation," DNC Associate Chairman Jaime Harrison said on Twitter, urging Parnell to withdraw. “The publicity today must be devastating for his former wife & his current family.”

The six proven ways to prevent dementia according to science
By 2025 there will be one million people living the UK with dementia and one person is diagnosed with the condition every three minutes.
By the time today’s 30- and 40- somethings reach the age when they may develop Alzheimher’s disease and dementia, (one in 20 people develop dementia under 65 but above that age a person’s risk doubles roughly every five years) it’s likely we’ll know more about its early signs.
It's also hoped there will be drugs to treat it before it even shows symptoms.
For Dementia Action Week (May 21-27), Healthista editor Anna Magee has spoken to Britain’s leading authorities about how to prevent it.

Obama Admin Officials Coordinated Set Up Of Trump, New Evidence Suggests
The Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs released new emails on Monday night that allegedly show that Obama administration officials coordinated with each other to help CNN run a damaging story on President-elect Donald Trump based on salacious and unverified information contained in a politically-motivated dossier financed by Trump's political enemies.
The emails, obtained by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), show that the Obama-era officials used coded language to refer to the Steele dossier. The following timeline of events and communications were in the committee's letter:
1. January 6, 2017, 9:44 a.m. FBI Chief of Staff James Rybicki sent an email to unspecified recipients stating, "the director is coming into HQ briefly now for an update from the sensitive matter team."
2. January 6, 2017, afternoon. Director Comey met with President-elect Trump.
3. January 7, 2017. Director Comey memorialized his discussion with President-elect Trump via an email to senior FBI leadership. Director Comey wrote, "I said there was something that Clapper wanted me to speak to PE [President Elect] about alone or in a very small group." Director Comey wrote, "I then executed the sessions exactly as I had planned," and "I said media like CNN had them and were looking for a news hook."

Police: Man sexually assaults 15-year-old girl in Maryland High School copy room
KENSINGTON, Md. (ABC7) — A 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted within a copy room at Albert Einstein High School, in part, due to an unlocked exterior door, Montgomery County Police say.
Authorities explain the suspect, Osmin Sosa-Mendrano, 21, first connected with the teenage victim on Instagram. After meeting in person, the two began a dating relationship. Sosa-Mendrano allegedly told the girl to keep quiet about their six-year age difference as it could get him in trouble.
On Sunday, Sosa-Mendrano picked up the teenage girl at her mother's home. It was around 11:30 p.m. The two chatted in Sosa-Mendrano’s vehicle before driving to Albert Einstein High School located in a residential community along Newport Mill Road.
According to court documents, Sosa-Mendrano and the girl entered the main school building through an "open door" and ducked into a copy room filled with boxes of paper.

Trump Meeting With Rosenstein, Wray On Spying Concludes: Congress To See All "Highly Classified" Information
As previewed earlier, on Monday afternoon president Trump met with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, FBI Director Chris Wray and the Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, in a discussion of the latest developments in the bombshell report that the Obama administration used a longtime FBI and CIA asset, identified as 73-year-old Cambridge professor Stefan Halper, to infiltrate and spy on Trump's campaign.
With the meeting concluded, the White House issued a statement according to which the DOJ said it has asked the inspector general to "expand its current investigation to include any irregularities with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s or the Department of Justice’s tactics concerning the Trump Campaign" and adds that "White House Chief of Staff Kelly will immediately set up a meeting with the FBI, DOJ, and DNI together with Congressional Leaders to review highly classified and other information they have requested."
Full statement below:
"Based on the meeting with the President, the Department of Justice has asked the Inspector General to expand its current investigation to include any irregularities with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's or the Department of Justice's tactics concerning the Trump Campaign. It was also agreed that White House Chief of Staff Kelly will immediately set up a meeting with the FBI, DOJ, and DNI together with Congressional Leaders to review highly classified and other information they have requested."
Translated: a lot of dirty laundry is about to become public.
As Sean Davis points out, the statement confirms Mollie Hemingway's reporting that contrary to claims from the Washington Post and anonymous DOJ officials made last week, "the White House was never on board with Rosenstein's plan to obstruct a congressional subpoena."

'Russiagate' Unveils The Depths Of Corruption In American Politics
For the last seventeen months now, the daily serving of American political news has included a generous helping of Robert Mueller, the Russiagate investigation that has morphed into an “is there any way possible we can get rid of Trump?” investigation, and a never changing but frothy lack of evidence to show that anything dishonest or disingenuous happened in Donald Trump’s campaign to be President of the United States.
Now, according to an opinion piece released by the Hill on Sunday 20 May, one of the issues that has been hiding in plain sight is getting some attention.
That issue is the increasingly evident amount of corruption in the US government agencies, notably the intelligence services and the Justice Department.

Second Spy Tried To Infiltrate Trump Campaign Says Former Adviser: "This Is Just The Beginning"
Republican consultant and former Trump campaign aide Michael Caputo claims that a different spy working for the Obama administration approached him in an attempt to infiltrate the Trump campaign during the 2016 US election.
Appearing on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle" along with former Trump aide Carter Page, Caputo's comments come amid recent revelations that Stefan Halper, a 73-year-old University of Cambridge professor, was enlisted by the Obama FBI/DOJ to perform espionage on four members of the Trump campaign - both before and after the election. Halper then tried to infiltrate the Trump administration, asking top trade adviser Peter Navaro to recommend him for a job at the State Department according to Axios.
Halper has been paid over $1 million by the Department of Defense since 2012, with over $400,000 of it occurring in 2016 and 2017.
And now we have word of yet second spy - possibly from another agency within the Obama administration - approaching yet another member of the Trump campaign.
“Let me tell you something that I know for a fact. This informant, this person that planted, that they tried to plant into the campaign and even into the administration if you believe Axios–he’s not the only person that came at the campaign," Caputo claimed. "And the FBI is not the only Obama agency who came at the campaign,” Caputo continued.
“I know because they came at me. And I’m looking for clearance from my attorney to reveal this to the public."

James Clapper Admits to 'Spying' from Inside the Trump Campaign
During a Tuesday appearance on the View, no less than the former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper described what was done by the Obama administration to Donald’s Trump campaign as “spying.”
Although Clapper said he does not like the word “spying” (considering how the disclosure of this spying has blown up in the Obama administration’s face, who can blame him?), he still used the word twice — because there is no other word.
Sounding rattled and defensive, even though he was among friends, Clapper, a left-wing partisan who served as DNI during the Obama administration, attempted to spin the “spying” into something that was for Trump’s own good and the good of the country.
“With the informant business, well, the point here is the Russians,” Clapper volunteered. “Not spying on the campaign but what are the Russians doing? And in a sense, unfortunately, what they were trying to do is protect our political system and protect the campaign.”

ADVISORY: DOG IN SALISBURY (East Isabella Street) TESTS POSITIVE FOR RABIES
(Salisbury, MD) – A dog located on East Isabella Street in Salisbury, MD has tested positive for Rabies. The dog was sent to the MD State Laboratory for testing after exhibiting neurological symptoms. The positive test results were received Thursday, May 24, 2018. The unvaccinateddog had previously come in contact with and killed a raccoon. There was no known domestic animal or human exposure.
Once infected, rabies is a virus that has a 100% fatality rate when left untreated, in mammals including humans. Wicomico Health recommends the following precautions to protect yourself and your family from possible exposure to rabies:
Report any sick or strange acting wildlife
Vaccinate pets and livestock. Maryland law requires that all dogs, cats and ferrets be vaccinated against rabies by 4 months of age. Vaccinating your domestic animal not only provides protection for the animal, but vaccinated pets act as a barrier to keep the rabies virus from spreading between wild animals and people.
Do not feed wildlife or stray animals and discourage them from seeking food near your home.
Do not feed strays.
Do not approach an unknown animal, either wild or domestic, especially if it is acting in a strange or unusual manner.
Keep garbage cans tightly covered and avoid storing any food outside.
Children should be instructed to tell an adult immediately if they were bitten or scratched by any animal.
If an unvaccinated pet comes in contact with rabid or suspected rabies the pet must be quarantined for six months.
Vaccinated pets that come in contact with rabid or suspected rabies animal must be given a booster rabies vaccination within five days of the contact.
All animal bites or scratches should be reported to the Wicomico County Health Department at (410) 546-4446 during business hours and 410-543-6996 after hours.

Queen Anne's County Office of the Sheriff
On 05/23/2018 at approximately 330 pm the Office of the Sheriff for Queen Anne’s County was contacted by school personnel from the Stevensville Middle School regarding an identified juvenile male student who was allegedly making attempts to purchase a firearm. Further information obtained indicated with the alleged firearm purchase there would be a school shooting.
Our Office immediately dispatched a School Resource Officer to begin an investigation into this matter. Upon arrival, further information obtained was that this identified male juvenile suspect was making attempts to purchase a firearm from an identified juvenile student. At that time the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit Detectives immediately responded to assist in this investigation.
Multiple witnesses and suspects were located, identified, and interviewed.
As a result, a consent search was performed at the identified suspect juvenile’s residence. A thorough search revealed a BB Gun which was seized as evidence.
Detectives were able to determine that the BB Gun was, in fact, the same item initially referred to as a firearm.
The additional information obtained from these interviews identified the subject as juvenile that wished to purchase the alleged firearm, was doing so for protection due to owing money to several individuals that threatened the juvenile suspect.
There is no credible threat of a shooting being planned or taking place and there is no immediate threat to the community.
The Sheriff’s Office will continue deploying additional resources to the Stevensville / Elementary School complex to alleviate any concerns from parents, faculty, students, and staff.
This investigation is still active and ongoing, the Queen Anne’s County States Attorney’s Office will be consulted for further disposition.
Sheriff Gary Hofmann was deeply concerned about the allegations and has been instrumental for the past several months in making sure our staff is consistently in our schools until the end of this school year, and along with our county commissioners will be deploying new resource officers to this upcoming school year. The Sheriff has authorized command staff as well as All units both in marked and unmarked patrols to continue our efforts to ensure all of our students have a safe learning environment for everyone.
“I credit school staff and our community for immediately reporting this post on social media to our office, it takes your reporting of anything to keep us all safe!” Added Gary Hofmann Sheriff

Culture Beat: No Conservative or Republican Professors Wanted
There are almost no Republican faculty on nearly 80% of America's leading liberal arts colleges.
So just how bad is leftist bias at America’s places of higher education? Well, according to a recent study from the National Association of Scholars, the imbalance of Democrats to Republicans among college faculty is worse than originally thought. While it’s no secret that America’s universities have for decades been more heavily populated with leftist professors than conservatives, the current situation can only be described as absolute domination. Forget the notion that conservative professors represent a minority, in nearly eight out of 10 of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges, Republican faculty are simply non-existent. According to the study’s author, Mitchell Langbert, 78.2% of academic departments have either zero or so few Republican professors as to make no difference.
Langbert further explains:
My sample of 8,688 tenure track, Ph.D.–holding professors from fifty-one of the sixty-six top ranked liberal arts colleges in the U.S. News 2017 report consists of 5,197, or 59.8 percent, who are registered either Republican or Democrat. The mean Democratic-to-Republican ratio (D:R) across the sample is 10.4:1, but because of an anomaly in the definition of what constitutes a liberal arts college in the U.S. News survey, I include two military colleges, West Point and Annapolis.1 If these are excluded, the D:R ratio is a whopping 12.7:1.
Not surprisingly, Langbert found that the disparity between Democrat and Republican faculty was greatest in the fields of the social sciences and humanities, while less so in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. That said, even in those STEM fields the disparity heavily favored Democrats.

Women accuse Morgan Freeman of inappropriate behavior, harassment (8 so far)
(CNN)A young production assistant thought she had landed the job of her dreams when, in the summer of 2015, she started work on "Going In Style," a bank heist comedy starring Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin.
But the job quickly devolved into several months of harassment, she told CNN. She alleges that Freeman subjected her to unwanted touching and comments about her figure and clothing on a near-daily basis. Freeman would rest his hand on her lower back or rub her lower back, she said.
In one incident, she said, Freeman "kept trying to lift up my skirt and asking if I was wearing underwear." He never successfully lifted her skirt, she said -- he would touch it and try to lift it, she would move away, and then he'd try again. Eventually, she said, "Alan [Arkin] made a comment telling him to stop. Morgan got freaked out and didn't know what to say."
Freeman's alleged inappropriate behavior was not limited to that one movie set, according to other sources who spoke to CNN. A woman who was a senior member of the production staff of the movie "Now You See Me" in 2012 told CNN that Freeman sexually harassed her and her female assistant on numerous occasions by making comments about their bodies.
"He did comment on our bodies... We knew that if he was coming by ... not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms, meaning not wearing clothes that [were] fitted," she said.

Teacher killed in Texas school shooting worked two jobs to care for terminally ill husband
A teacher killed in the Texas school shooting was working two jobs to help pay for her terminally ill husband’s medical expenses, a relative said.
Cynthia Tisdale, 63, a substitute teacher at Santa Fe High School, also worked as a server at a local Italian restaurant chain to cover the costs of her husband, William’s, lung disease care, her brother-in-law told The Monitor.
“Since my brother has been very ill the last couple of years, she was a very excellent caregiver and she worked two jobs for extra income to help,” John Tisdale said.
The couple — who had been married for about 40 years — planned to move to the Rio Grande Valley as soon as Cynthia could retire.

Governor Larry Hogan Saves Marylanders $46 Million by Permanently Eliminating E-ZPass Transponder Fee
Provides Free E-ZPass Transponders, Reduced Toll Rates For All Marylanders
ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) will permanently eliminate the $7.50 E-ZPass Maryland transponder fee for all new customers, putting $46 million back into Marylanders’ wallets over the next five years. In 2015, the governor announced major toll rollbacks across the state, resulting in $270 million in savings for our citizens.
“Today, we continue moving forward with a commitment to provide relief for Maryland taxpayers by putting an additional $46 million back into the pockets of hardworking middle class families, retirees, and small businesses - and back into our growing economy,” said Governor Hogan. “Three years ago I stood here at this very spot and began a statewide toll cut that started with $270 million - the first time tolls had been cut in Maryland in 50 years - and with today’s transponder fee elimination, we have now cut taxes, tolls, and fees by over $1.2 billion in the last four years.”
Free transponders eliminate $6 million in fees and provide new E-ZPass Maryland customers $40 million in toll discounts over the next five years. Customers using E-ZPass Maryland save 25 percent or more on Maryland tolls. At the Bay Bridge, the savings increases to 37.5 percent, or $2.50 for an E-ZPass customer versus $4.00 using cash.
In addition, the MDTA will replace nearly 400,000 aged transponders that are currently in circulation at no cost to customers. Anyone who bought a transponder in 2018 will be issued a credit of $7.50 as long as the account is registered and in good standing. Customers who bought a transponder this calendar year will see the $7.50 credit on their accounts in the next several weeks.
“It’s never been a better time to become an E-ZPass Maryland customer,” said MDTA Executive Director Kevin C. Reigrut. “Current cash and video tolling customers can now get a free transponder and save time and money with the substantial discount that E-ZPass Maryland offers.”
Additional E-ZPass benefits include an enhanced customer experience at toll plazas, time savings when traveling, improved air quality by lowering emissions, and by far, the most efficient toll payment method. The 2015 Toll Roll Back Plan also eliminated the $1.50 monthly account maintenance fee, and in February 2018, the MDTA unveiled its new E-ZPass Maryland mobile website, providing customers with an easier and more-convenient way to access to their accounts via ezpassmd.com.
Financed solely by toll revenue, the MDTA is the state agency that finances, owns, operates, and maintains the state’s eight toll facilities.
