Exclusive News: ANOTHER Huge Fire In Delmar Moments Ago

I received a tip there was a fire right down the street from my home and I was able to get over there well before the Fire Department. Not to say they didn't get there quick, I just happened to be right around the corner.

Nevertheless, the owner of this trailer home was actually attempting to tear it down when he threw his cigarette and a gas line was still on in the home. The trailer exploded and burst into flames. I have to tell you Ladies & Gentlemen, this thing went quick! As you can see from the pictures, the structure was pretty much to the foundation before the Fire Department was able to arrive.

They're very fortunate no one was hurt in this explosion. Four Fire Departments responded. Delmar, Hebron, Laurel and one other.

Was Shanie Suggesting These Were The People That May Never Return?

Last night Shanie Shields said, In a perfect world, we never know if we're going to leave here tonight and never come back. OK, what's that got to do with agreeing to a simple date in which might be suggested as a deadline to expect the Audit be completed?

She went on to say that they don't know the City. They don't know the books. OK, Dee, Dee, Deeee, they're ACCOUNTANTS! Mathematics Is An Exact Science Shanie. Bookkeeping and accounting is NOT Rocket Science. If your taxes are due by April 15th, there's NO EXCUSES! It gets done or you're penalized.

The point I was trying to make last night was this. You have a Council Vice President who's declared Bankruptcy and allegedly failed to pay child support. You have Shanie Shields in the process of foreclosing on her home and you have a Council President who clearly stated last night, "I've done an audit or two when I was in Florida." Well Louise, one or two audits is NOT what you ran your campaign on. Nevertheless, the taxpayers of Salisbury have voted these people into Office and you know what, you get what you deserve.

I know that when I'm running a multi million dollar business, do any of you actually believe I'd hire any one of these three people to balance my books and oversee the people doing so? Get A Grip People! You screwed up, admit it.

OK, that being said, Louise questioned there only being one company OUT OF STATE who was willing to do the Audit and she found that unusual. However, she didn't challenge it after I got up there and spoke and asked why the SOLICITED 10 Companies and also ran an ad. Why would the City Solicit someone for the job in the first place? Nevertheless, I also stated that Government is supposed to get a minimum of three bids for this kind of work, yet Louise chose to move forward with this Company? There's no accountability with this woman!

I'm telling you Ladies & Gentlemen, you have to do something about this starting now. Jim Caldwell gets up there and says the money for the Lift Station was budgeted in 2005 for the North end of the City, yet the money is now gone? Where the hell did it go? Why did the Mayor allow this to happen? My hat is tipped to this man for standing up in public and asking where the hell the money went. This is what Salisbury Needs, more Cohen's, Campbell's and Caldwell's!

So when you look at the photo above and see the ghosts Shanie may have been talking about, it's all smoke and mirrors Folks. The idea that someone can sit there and make excuses BEFORE it even happens and not ask this Firm for a deadline date is simply ridiculous. Pam Oland needs to go, period.

BREAKING NEWS! Class Action Suit Against Board Of Ed & Pinehurst?

Big news came Friday right before the work day ended. Allegedly, a class action suit has been brought against the Wicomico Board of Ed, Pinehurst Elementary, allegedly by a Wi-Hi student from Wi-Hi and the State for being abused. Allegedly he was in the self contained group, which is those students with physical, mental, and behavioral disabilities and disorders.

The "time out room" was having the bolt lock removed. This room is used for students who go off which poses an immediate threat of physical harm to students, staff, and property. The room is a bare white room with a squared x in which the student must sit in to give up control and settle down. There is a Plexiglas in which they cannot see through for observation and single bolt lock to keep the student contained. This was done, as well as the handle being removed rendering no way to keep the student in the room besides physical contact.

It was not known, at that time, if because of the suit, that the time out room would be 100% off limits.

Pinehurst is the only school that still has in use the time out room and is the main center for elementary school for instructing disorders and disabilities.

There are a lot of things going as well to this new suit, politically. I'm told things are not being handled as they ought to be. I use the moral imperative "ought" because liabilities exist within the program administratively and within the hierarchy of the self contained program. The teachers are very concerned about all that is going on and are not trustworthy of some.

What this does is make it harder for teachers to effectively physically handle the kids, from both the legal standpoint of having a suit filed, since the precedent is being set, and the practical in keeping staff and students effectively safe. A major facet and our last resort has been taken away.

I feel that this hush hush suppressed nature of the Salisbury area on news and everyday dealings should not go on.

PAC 14 Streaming Video Failed Last Night

I have re-set the streaming video this morning. We seem to be having some technical issues with the internet streaming, but we plan to update the system in the summer by contracting with a streaming service that will provide a better image and more reliability. Sorry for the inconvenience, but thanks for letting me know. Please let us know whenever you notice it is not working.

Thanks

That's OK, we were able to deliver it live on the Blog anyway. I think it was much better than a streaming video on line?

Fatal Fire In Delmar

Very early this morning the Delmar Fire Department got a call of a fire to a trailer on Contentment Lane in Delmar, DE. Even though the property is on the south side of Rt. 54, (like mine) it falls into the State of Delaware, not far from Chief See's home.

The trailer caught fire from a space heater in the living room and another in Donald Dunn's bedroom. The 16 year old son was sleeping on the couch when he woke up to flames everywhere. He crawled to his Father's bedroom after hearing his father coughing. Once there he, (the 16 year old Son) passed out on the floor, "I don't know for how long" and was able to get out of the trailer before it was too late for him as well. His hands were burned and even his tongue. I was told by one witness at the scene that the Son was completely black and charred at the scene.

While I was there the Son and his Step Mother returned to the scene in tears, clearly upset with their loss. The Son stated he could feel the flames behind his head as he was leaving his Father's bedroom. The family Dog passed away as well.

Although his Father and Step Mother were no longer together, for now, the Son will go stay with his Step Mother as the trailer is a 100% complete loss. More details later. I'm told Wayne Barrall will be posting pictures of the fire later today.

Mayor Tilghman Continues To Show Signs She's Running For Re-Election

While Barrie Tilghman stood there and gave out Certificates of Appreciation last night, she no sooner shook the last hand and then BOLTED out of that room so fast she blurred the camera! Stick around some time Barrie, I'd LOVE to share my opinion with you face to face on PAC 14, LIVE in front of everyone to see. You have noticed how Salisbury News keeps growing and Barrie Tilghman keeps going into hiding, right?

Question of the Day, Tue 5/13

How did you spend your day yesterday?
Electric/no electric? School/no school? Work/no work?
Damage to home? Flooded out? Evacuated? Car flooded?

My day was pretty shot. Schools 2 hours late for the kids. Got to school and then school had no electric. Then no electric at work. Thankfully we had electric at home, so we went home and had a bite to eat for lunch and got updates online. The shop finally got electric around 1:30, so we went back to work then. Got a little done....but you know after a mentally draining day, you really don't want to do anything. Left the husband at work while the kids and I rode into O.C. for some pics to post. What a day! Lost some shingles and a few trees, but thankfully no real damage. From watching the news, I know there were less fortunate people that had flooding, cars underwater and house damage.

A Letter To The Editor

Hello, I was wondering if you could just give me some insight. I have been in Salisbury for about 3 years attending SU. I am from Montgomery County and I usually read the newspaper and watch the news everyday. Since I have been here I notice that things happen, pretty serious crimes, and they are never published or on the news. Reading the Wash. Post or watching the DC news stations, you will hear about all shootings, robberies, and major things that affect our safety. But here, being a much smaller area, you would think you would hear about it too, if not more. But I have found through experience that dangerous crime goes unreported.

A friend of a friend was shot and killed last night in the Runaway Bay apartments across from the Mall. I watched the news this morning, checked delmarvanow.com and found nothing and heard nothing. It seems like that should have defintaely been on the news. I have known multiple people who have been robbed at gunpoint in their homes and outside walking and those stories were never on the news or in the paper either. Does Salisbury try to hide their ridiculously high crime rate?? Seems like it. Or maybe SU has their hand in it so that the unsuspecting students keep coming thinking its a great school, which it is, but their should be warnings to new students. For some reason it bothered me that a man was shot and killed and not on the news. I wanted to know what happened and possibly why it happened. I know the victim was not a law-abiding citizen but you never know what could of happened. On the DC news they would of had a reported at the scene right after it happened. I dont mean to take up too much of your time.

Thanks

Dear Anonymous:

The first answer to your question is, the Daily Times has reduced their Staff and are not covering things locally like they used to. WMDT and WBOC are extremely short Staffed as well. Oh, that's right, Salisbury News is growing while the MSM is shrinking.

Many would like to believe that I or others contributing to this Blog actually listen to scanners. That simply is not true. When it seems important, the right people contact us, (like you) and let us know what's going on. The big difference between the MSM and this Blog is the fact that not only will their story be told, many people have the opportunity to respond and even participate in the story. All too often stories aren't sellable enough to put in print or on the air to sell ad space or comercials. I happen to believe much differently than others. I believe every one's story is important. Sometimes it may only be important to that person in the moment but we all have those moments.

No one can deny that Salisbury News is bigger than the Daily Times any more and we feel you have the right to be heard, hence this Post. We're sorry for the loss of your friend. I will add, yes, the City of Salisbury DOES NOT want its citizens knowing how bad things are around here. If you had ANY idea how many Nurses at PRMC inform me of stabbings, shootings and other major violent crimes they see every single day, it would blow your mind! Yes, Chief Webster and Mayor Tilghman want things kept under the rug, hence two lawsuits against me and other troubles I have seen recently. That's OK though, I'm a big boy, I can handle it. The Daily Times screams like a little girl every time someone threatens to sue. Let's see what anyone else knows about this story from last night?

Sunny In OC Truly Delivers

I can't tell you enough how excited I am having someone contribute from Ocean City. Having photos like this truly helps all of you to see that Worcester County is just as much a part of our local lives as Wicomico County. There were also MANY new Visitors yesterday as well, welcome.

Ocean City was one of many areas that completely flooded out. However, I don't think you're going to see such telling photos anywhere else. I could be wrong, I haven't gone out to get my paper yet. One would think the Daily Times would have a series of good shots but we'll see. They've been behind the 8-Ball quite a bit lately. Enjoy the photos.

Is It Just Me?

Is it just me or does anyone else think that maybe, just maybe there are enough CSI shows on TV?
