500+ Comments In One Day!

Well we have reached a new all time high of over 500 comments in just one day. Friday's traditionally are great days in the morning and afternoon but dies out into the early evening. Then Saturdays and Sundays have traditionally dropped off but for the past two weeks we have more than doubled our weekend traffic and even experienced a record day in visits a few weeks ago on a Friday.

So check this out. We need to call Friday''s, POLICE FRIDAY because for the past three weeks we have had serious breaking news on Fridays. First was the armed robbery on the armored vehicle. Last Friday was the Delmar high speed chase and then this Friday was yet another high speed chase. Oh, that's right, crime is down 7%, I forgot! I know, County versus City. You get my drift though.

I'll bet we are the talk of the weekend though when everyone gets together. Obama and the BOE asking kids to dress up for his inauguration. That was a HOT one today, eh? Anyhow, thanks for visiting Folks and we hope you've enjoyed another exciting day on the Blog.

In closing. One of the major reasons our numbers have gone up so much on the weekends is because of the Post with George Chevallier. We are truly blessed to have this wonderful historical asset through his wisdom. Wait till you hear about my new Post coming up about his most recent experience. I'll have it up tomorrow or Sunday.

Late Breaking News Update WCSO Press Release

Incident: High Speed Pursuit & large COCAINE Seizure
Date of Incident: 01-09-2009 @ 1405 hours
Location: Rt. 13 in Wicomico, Somerset, Worcester, Accomack (VA) & Northampton (VA) Counties.

Narrative: On January 9, 2009
at approximately 2:05 p.m., a Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a 2008 Ford Explorer for a traffic violation on the U.S. Rt. 13 bypass near St. Lukes Road in Fruitland, Wicomico County, MD. The driver and sole occupant was identified by a Virginia driver’s license as 32 year old Damiean La-Guan Knight of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Based on a host of criminal indicators present during the traffic stop, to include a history of felony drug possession, distribution and firearms possession, a Sheriff’s Office Canine Unit was requested to respond to the scene. Shortly thereafter, the K-9 Unit arrived to conduct a canine scan of the vehicle. When a deputy re-approached the Ford Explorer to further question the driver, the driver rapidly accelerated the Ford Explorer and fled southbound on the bypass.

At speeds in excess of 120 MPH, the vehicle traveled into Somerset County as the driver discarded what appeared to be large amounts of cocaine from the driver’s side window. Deputies pursued the vehicle through Somerset County where Maryland State Troopers attempted to deploy Spike Strips across the roadway in an effort to slowly bring the fleeing vehicle to a stop. On two separate occasions, the vehicle deliberately and narrowly avoided the spike strips and continued into Worcester County where Worcester County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted in attempting to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued driving recklessly S/B on Rt. 13 through Pocomoke, Maryland and into Accomack County, Virginia.

A short distance into Virginia, Virginia State Troopers joined the pursuit in yet another effort to stop this reckless vehicle. As Virginia State Troopers attempted to intercept the vehicle, a trooper was involved in a collision with another vehicle near an intersection in Nelsonia, Virginia. The chase continued through Onley, Melfa, and into Northampton County where the suspect traveled across the center median into the n/b lanes of Rt. 13. Virginia State Troopers carefully and strategically performed a controlled vehicle deceleration maneuver on the fleeing vehicle which brought this chase to a successful conclusion. The suspect was apprehended as he attempted to flee the vehicle.

The suspect’s vehicle was searched by Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputies and Virginia State Troopers at which time $14,000.00 in suspected cocaine was found inside a bag on the floor. Additional amounts of cocaine were strewn throughout the vehicle where the suspect was attempting to discard it during the pursuit. A small baggie of marijuana was recovered from the suspect’s sock.

The chase lasted one hour and five minutes and traveled a distance of approximately ninety (90) miles. A total of four Virginia State Police cruisers were damaged during this pursuit as was the AVIS rental vehicle being driven by the suspect. The vehicle that collided with the trooper in Nelsonia, Virginia sustained minor damage. Although there were no apparent injuries, the driver of this vehicle was transported to a local hospital for observation.

The suspect has been charged with multiple criminal violations by the Virginia State Police to include; Trafficking Cocaine into the Commonwealth of Virginia, Possession with intent to distribute cocaine, Possession of cocaine, Possession of Marijuana. Damiean Knight is currently being held without bond in the Northampton County Jail…

What A Week For Comments, News, Hard Work & Surprises!

It's not even 7:00 PM and we've already had 326 comments accepted today. There's no question in my mind that this week is a record week for comments and I'm glad to see so many people getting involved and sharing their opinion. I can tell you one thing Folks, I had a meeting at 9:30 this morning and comments were flying in so constant, it was 3:39 PM before I could finally call the people I was supposed to meet and explain why I couldn't make it. They completely understood because they had been following the Blog and saw just how nuts things were. I've got to do something about this because I'm so overwhelmed with comments, I can't get out and do many of the other things I need to get done.

It's now close to 7:00 PM and I have yet to leave this computer after 12 hours today. I still have Posts to get done for tomorrow and Sunday and I have to get to a location for yet another upcoming story. I will say this however. I have been approached by an Advertising Company, (yes, the big boys) and we have discussed some serious yearly contracts but nothing is set in stone as of yet. The way we agreed to advertise will make everyone here very happy as it won't be the kind of normal advertising you'd see on general Websites. I'm not going to give anything away but as many of you have been contacting me with interest in advertising, you might want to start contacting me again and we'll share this new concept with you and see if it fits your wants and needs.

So yes, we're growing and gaining more and more recognition, even away from the Eastern Shore, believe it or not. The idea of trying this out would allow us to actually take that money/income and apply it to our own advertising elsewhere to bring in even more traffic. Better watch out Daily Times because the Ad Agencies are more interested in Salisbury News than they are with the old style print ads from the Daily Times. Besides, you couldn't afford to advertise the way we're looking to and you'll never deliver the same impact.

2009 is going to be a BIG year for us Folks and I think you're going to like what we deliver.

A Letter To The Editor:

"Ladies and Gentlemen the issue Joe has posted here is one of great importance. Joe has stated his opinion on the issue and many are arguing that his opinion is incorrect. By defifinition an opinion can not be incorrect.

That aside, here is the meat of the issue. In 1981 a new persident was inaugrated to office. Ronald Regan's first inaugration was not seen in Wicomico Public Schools based on my personal experience. Nor was his Second. In 1989 George Bush was inaugrated. I was in high school as a junior. I clearly recall NOT WATCHING that inaugration. So for my entire public school career presidential inaugurations were not school events, we were not asked to dress up, nor did we report to an assembly.

Why is this inauguration different? Because President Elect Obama is the nations first black president. That is a historical achievement and it should be recognized. If the school system sent home a letter stating "We intend to celebrate this historic election of a black president by..." I would not have an issue with what the schools are doing. State the truth and I will have no issue. The way the schools are acting is like this is normal for an inauguration. It is notthe schools normal procedure for an inauguration. By acting in this manner the school system is hiding the fact that this is about race. If they made it about race then they are a crisis of public out cry and possibly tort issues in this litigious society. Thus the school solution of asking to celebrate the inauguration.

If you don't believe me see if the schools televise the next Anglo-American inauguration.

BTW For all of you arguing he's the president show some respect, you should argue it next time a white male is inaugurated also, but you won't because it is another white male. Every presidential election in this country is historic. To argue one is more important than another without some contributing factor such as the first African-American president is a baseless arguement.

In summation just say the real reason it is special and move on with life. Finally, maybe, we can put race away as an issue and see each other as the human race, some good, some bad, but all human, even Jesus.

BREAKING NEWS

The Maryland State Police and Wicomico County Sheriff's Department are RIGHT NOW in a High Speed Chase heading into Virginia. The WCSO has 6 Deputies right now Tee's Corner at 120 MPH! The WCSO tried to initiate a traffic stop and the perps took off. More to come.

Their radios are apparently breaking up because they're so far away. Supervisor just asked some of the Officers to back off. They're now in Temperantville, VA. (sp?)

Word is they're going to try and pit the driver. Worcester County Sheriff's Department is also involved in the chase. Virginia State Police are now involved. They're saying there are TOO MANY vehicles in the chase.

You have to wonder how much dope these people threw out the window along the way.

They're trying to clear Rt. 13 to get everyone out of the way so innocent bystanders don't get hurt.

DRIVER just jumped across the Highway and heading SOUTH BOUND in the NORTH BOUND LANES!

They're saying at the initial stop area they discarded something. It's very quiet right now, perhaps we lost our connection? It could also mean they stopped them? OR, they could be in the Bay Bridge Tunnel at this rate of speed. We're awaiting something because it's still quiet.

The vehicle has wrecked, the chase is over outside of North Hampton Virginia.

This Is What I Have To Put Up With From Anti Albero Bloggers

A Public Official has left a new comment on your post "Trinity United Methodist Church Prayer Vigil For B...":

I'm praying, but for a different reason. I'm praying your family dies in a house fire this year. I pray that they find you hiding in the shower like you did when Big Bad Wayne showed up. And if that's not doable, I pray you become paralyzed and never type or take a picture again.

Publish this comment.

Reject this comment.

The more and more good we do for the community, the more comments I get like this one. Of course it was rejected and they knew it would be but like I have said in the past, every so often I'm going to pop these up and show you what my Family is up against.

"A Public Official." Now who do you think this one might be? It doesn't really matter but obviously they're becoming more and more frustrated and these are the people we need to fight off this year.

One of them has become so bitter that he's actually posting articles suggesting Councilwoman Campbell and I are having an affair. Leave it to the Tilghman Administration types to start such a smear campaign.

Folks, this is the year we all need to come together and get rid of these type of people that have been in control of the City of Salisbury for far too many years. To attempt to put up such a comment on a Prayer Post for a child in such need clearly shows just how low they'll go.

UPDATE: It turns out these sick people have even gone a step further and added these photos to their Site. Hey Barrie, hey Gary Comegys, hey Jim Ireton, hey Muir Boda, are you proud to be associated with these people? Do tell why you're a contributer to these Sites.

January 8, 2009

Dear Parents,

I hope your family had a nice break these past two weeks. It is great to be back and to move forward with our school year.

I am writing to let you know about a special event we have planned here at BES. On January 20th, the students and staff at BES will all get together in the cafeteria/gym to watch the inauguration of President Elect Barack Obama. We are asking the students to wear either their "Sunday Best" clothes, or to dress in red, white and blue. We will be calling the students down to the cafeteria beginning at 11:00 a.m. Kindergarten will have lunch in their rooms 15 minutes earlier than usual. The rest of the children will have lunch in their rooms after the inauguration is over.

There will be no student performances during this event, and we are sorry to say that we cannot invite parents and other family members because we simply do not have room with the entire school already in the cafeteria/gym area. We appreciate your understanding, and we ask that you support our efforts to make this a special day by encouraging your child to dress for the occasion.

Although we can't ask you to join us for the actual inauguration, I would like to encourage you to visit us sometime before January 20th. The students have done a great job in creating posters, collages and writings to commemorate this event. The are on display in our hallways.

As always, please feel free to call me with any questions you might have.

Sincerely,

Roger Pacella
(Principal)"

I don't care what you say about how we should show respect for such an occasion, this is just wrong and now you have PROOF. This is being asked by Schools around the State, as well as around the Country. I mean NO disrespect towards Obama at all. I'm simply stating this is WRONG and unfair to MANY Students across our Nation.

What do YOU think they mean by SUNDAY BEST?

Once again, JUST BECAUSE THE BOE SAYS IT'S NOT TRUE DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE TELLING YOU THE TRUTH! Just because the Daily Times says it is true, doesn't mean that it's true. It's one thing to make a mistake but it's another when you flat out get caught in a lie!

I'll have ALL of you know, the WCBOE has BLOCKED SBYNEWS.COM again today! Its no wonder why they would cut off those telling the TRUTH?

Webster, Tilghman & Daily Times Claims Crime Is Down

I was just reading an article from the Washington Post where the title says, "Montgomery Faces 7.7% Increase in Major Crime." I'll not go into all the details but clearly it states that the increase is due to the harsh economy.

While the Mayor of Salisbury and Councilman Comegys enjoy comparing Salisbury to Montgomery County on a regular basis, isn't it interesting how they claim OUR major crime is down 7 percent?

Look, I'm not saying we shouldn't be pleased with an alleged drop in crime, because we should. However, it's an election year and while the Washington Post may not like the people on the County Council, I can see where this whole thing comes out to be a simple game by the MSM.

One Paper likes certain Candidates, (Daily Times = Mayor Tilghman = Colmegys) so they're fed information from the Police Department and they go ahead and print it because you know what, they can. They simply printed what they were delivered. Happens all the time with that Newspaper.

Crime is up across America because of our economy and the Global Economy. But you just keep drinking that Daily Times Cool Aid and believe everything they say. I'm not stupid, I cancelled my subscription. I'm not buying their paper any more and I'm not buying their BS any more.

German Billionaire Adolf Marckle Commits Suicide

German billionaire Adolf Marckle found himself in deep doo doo, due to the Global financial crisis. Marckle left his Family a suicide note after he killed himself in what they want to call a Railway Accident. The guy flat out laid down on the high speed tracks and was run over by a train. No foul play was to blame.

Question Of The Day

Do you plan on going to the Presidential Inauguration?

Don't just say you are. If you plan on going, when will you go, how will you get there, where will you stay and how will you get around DC?

I'm not saying there won't be a record amount of people there, I just think there's a lot of local talk but no walk the walk. I hear the worst part will be getting out of DC.

A Very Important Maryland Story

Joe,

In case you missed it, I wanted to bring to your attention a Politico discussion that ran this week about the next economic stimulus package. Contributor Jeff Emanuel points out that China will be the real winner in the current stimulus proposals by providing the credit to fund the package, and reaping the real benefits through the influx of manufacturing and production business China will receive from it.

A better source of stimulus would be to fund projects that are developed and manufactured here in the United States. Projects like the F-22 fighter, whose future is hanging in the balance.

As you might know, Lockheed Martin, with offices in Bethesda makes the advanced jet fighter. GE also works on the project at their Germantown location. These facilities will be at risk if the program is not funded. Many other facilities in states across the country will be facing similar uncertainty. By passing over the F-22 fighter project, the nationwide impact risks 95,000 jobs that contribute $12 billion of domestic production to the economy. With the federal government looking to boost
economic activity and to stem unemployment, domestic manufacturing and production projects like the F-22 fighter are best suited to deliver maximum results on both fronts.

Besides, the F-22 is far more than an economic stimulus program. It’s a vital national defense initiative that is already updating our aging fighter aircraft fleet, and providing U.S. armed forces continued air dominance in the face of new generation aircraft being developed by other countries.

The Politico discussion, “The stimulus (including those tax cuts): Big Enough? Soon Enough?” by Jeff Emanuel, is at Politico’s “The Arena.”

There was also another story posted yesterday by Marathon Pundit that touched on the domestic production of the F-22 as well.

George Chevallier Slams Mayor Tilghman On Bail Out Money For The Bricks Scam

Cindy Stone, Director
Office of Community Programs
Maryland Dept. of Housing
and Community Development
100 Community Place
Crownsville MD 21032

"Ms. Stone.

Please do not be taken in by a scam by our mayor to pour grant money into a building that is neither historic nor in an historic district. I am president of the Wicomico Historical Society and have done a lot of research about Salisbury's older structures. While it was contructed in a most unusal manner/style in 1912 as an American Store (Acme), it has had a rather sordid life since. It has been a bar, a brothel and is now run-down apartments. The mayor herself owns quite a bit of rental property in that area and it would financially benefit her to "brighten-up" the neighborhood. In these times of economic stress, I think the money could be spent much wiser elsewhere. After all a grant is not free money from a money tree. It is our taxpayers dollars and I hope whomever is in charge of doling it out has some sense of fiscal responsibility. This is only a ploy of the real estate establishment to benefit themselves without regard to the common taxpayer. Thank you for your time.

Local Stolen Vehicle May Have Been Involved In Federalsburg Robbery

Last week, (Friday) a local Used Car Dealership loaned out one of their vehicles to a Customer who was having service work done to their vehicle.

The loaner vehicle was stolen and matched the description of the vehicle used in a Robbery in Federalsburg. They think the Dealer left a spare key in the glove box and the vehicle was left unlocked by the customer and ultimately stolen.

No one has been identified or arrested but strangely enough, the vehicle returned to our area and was recently found by Police. The WCSO is working with the Federalsburg Police Department to see if this vehicle that matches the description of the robbery vehicle is one in the same.

THOUGHTS ON EXERCISE

I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently, you have to show up.

If God meant us to touch our toes, he would have put them further up our body.

I have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.

If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.

The only reason I would take up jogging is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I don't jog. It makes the ice jump right out of my glass.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

I have to exercise early in the morning before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

And last but not least...

Furniture Disease is when you reach that stage in life when your chest starts sliding down into your drawers

Here's your sign
