Instructor Sentenced In Student Sex Case

GEORGETOWN, Del. - August 25, 2009 -- A former Seaford High School ROTC instructor accused of having sex with a student has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Forty-nine-year-old Timothy McDorman of Lincoln pleaded guilty to one count of fourth-degree rape and six counts of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced on Tuesday.

Police said a 16-year-old girl's mother found a text message from McDorman to her daughter's cell phone that indicated that the two were having sex.

Police said the girl had been sending McDorman naked pictures of herself since October when the two began a relationship.

Chris Brown Sentenced For Beating Rihanna

Singer Must Serve 5 Years of Probation, Perform 6 Months of Community Labor for Assaulting Pop Star

A judge on Tuesday sentenced Chris Brown to five years' probation and six months' community labor for the beating of Rihanna and issued a stern admonition to the R&B singer.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told Brown that he could be sent to state prison if he violated any terms of his sentence, including an order to stay away from Rihanna for the next five years.

Brown will serve his sentence in his home state — Virginia — and his community labor will be overseen by the chief of police in Richmond.

The judge said she wanted to ensure that Brown, 20, performs physical labor instead of community service, such as mentoring young people.

Rihanna did not attend Tuesday's sentencing.

Circumcision No AIDS Protection For Gay Men

Report expected to influence government's recommendation on procedure

ATLANTA
- Circumcision, which has helped prevent AIDS among heterosexual men in Africa, doesn't help protect gay men from the virus, according to the largest U.S. study to look at the question.

The research, presented at a conference Tuesday, is expected to influence the government's first guidance on circumcision.

Circumcision "is not considered beneficial" in stopping the spread of HIV through gay sex, said Dr. Peter Kilmarx, of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Health Care Claim Costs May Rise 10.5 Percent

Aging population and rising costs are among reasons for the sharp increase

INDIANAPOLIS - Costs for employer-provided health plans are expected to rise more than 10 percent within the next 12 months, a jump workers may feel in their paychecks or through changes to their insurance coverage.

An aging population, rising costs and growing patient demand for services are among the reasons for the higher costs cited in an Aon Consulting report released Tuesday.

Aon Consulting, a subsidiary of Chicago-based Aon Corp., surveyed about 60 health insurers around the country earlier this year. The study found that, on average, insurers expect to pay out 10.5 percent more in claims costs in the next year — slightly less than the 10.6 percent increase forecast last year.

WICOMICO COUNTY EXECUTIVE ANNOUNCES THOUSANDS SAVED IN INSURANCE REFUNDS

Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr. announced today that he is in receipt of a refund check from IWIF (Injured Workers Insurance Fund) for $53,937. Mr. Pollitt said that the funds have been deposited into the county’s general fund and that “considering the current budget restrictions and those about to come, this refund is good news for the taxpayer.”

Mr. Pollitt credited county department heads and workers for adhering to safety guidelines throughout the year. “Safety is its own reward,” commented Pollitt, “but it’s made even better when an added result is saving taxpayer dollars.”

Pollitt pointed out that the county Human Resources Department has been the source of other savings. Due to administrative changes in the health insurance plan for Contract Year 2010 some $240,000 in projected premiums will be avoided. These changes could also result in a refund at the end of the insurance contract year on October 31st. Last year, the county realized a $296,538 refund in this area.

White House, Congress Projects Record Deficits

WASHINGTON — The federal government faces exploding deficits and mounting debt over the next decade, White House and congressional budget officials projected Tuesday in competing but similar economic forecasts.

Both the White House Office of Management and Budget and the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicted the budget deficit this year would swell to nearly $1.6 trillion, a record, and far above the then-record 2008 budget deficit of $455 billion.

But while figures released by the White House foresee a cumulative $9 trillion deficit from 2010-2019, $2 trillion more than the administration estimated in May, congressional budget analysts put the 10-year figure at a lower $7.14 trillion.

One reason for the difference: The CBO projection is based on an assumption that all the tax cuts put into place in the administration of former President George W. Bush will expire on schedule by 2011 as dictated by current law. President Barack Obama's budget baseline, however, hews to his proposal to keep the tax cuts in place for families earning less than $250,000 a year.

Beyond the 10-year forecast, the nation will face further challenges posed by rising health care costs and the aging of the population, the CBO said. "The budget remains on an unsustainable path" over the long-term and will require some combination of lower spending and higher tax revenues, it said.

Both forecasts see unemployment rising to 10 percent before falling and both suggest growth will return to the economy later this year but that recovery will be slow after the longest and deepest recession since the 1930s

A trooper investigating the incident was able to locate evidence at the scene that implicated Burrell.

Burrell has also been arrested for similar crimes by the Wilmington Police in April of 2009. Those charges are pending in the Court of Common Pleas in and for New Castle County and scheduled for September of this year.

Important Information For Property Owners In Salisbury

The information below is important to property owners in Salisbury as the rules have changed. No longer will the City of Salisbury take care of weeds outside of your businesses, including the curbs on the streets. Be sure to read this document to become informed before you're hit with a violation. To be perfectly honest with everyone, I received a violation at 300 W. Main Street for grass growing in the curb area and I had absolutely no clue it was my responsibility. I had even shown pictures in the past of the City going around spraying for such weeds but all that has changed and I too was unaware of such changes.

Salisbury Mayor & Council President Tough On Victims

Last night the Salisbury Mayor and City Council really showed their true colors. How quickly some forget where they came from. Mayor Ireton knows just how many of the people that supported him stand behind Ann Von Forthubet, yet he immediately went on the attack telling her the Council Chambers was not the place for such drama.

I beg to differ Mayor Ireton. Put yourself in Ann's shoes for just a moment. A little more than a year ago she experienced a home invasion to which she awoke from her sleep to a man yielding a knife standing over her and ultimately threatening and harming her.

The Salisbury Police Chief absolutely screwed up on the investigation and right now you have a very scared woman, (a taxpayer) who has had no comfort for more than a year now. Louise Smith, (as well as yourself Mayor) knew she held a Press Conference not that long ago referencing this matter and none of you attended. Nevertheless, put yourself in her shoes. She believes the person who broke into her home lives in her community and every single day lives in fear that it might happen again. There's been no closure.

I know that if I were Mayor or President of the City Council, I would do everything I could to comfort this woman and assure you the proper attention was being placed on this matter. Why on God's Green Earth would you force this woman to publicly give out her address, especially when in the past she was allowed to speak WITHOUT doing so because of the home invasion. Do you really want us to dig out the video from that meeting and prove she never gave either. I know for a FACT that I have personally, (on many occasions stated, "Joe Albero, Delmar, Delaware) and was never told I needed to give my full address. It is written on the sign in sheet and that should have been enough, especially in Ann's position and situation.

Mistakes do happen and in my honest opinion, Mayor Ireton has absolutely no real business experience. He carries himself perfectly when it comes to press conferences or media events but when it comes to real life crisis situations I believe he's very green. Will that change in time, absolutely. Mayor Ireton is not a stupid man, just inexperienced. Salisbury will deliver him a crash course on how to deal with lots of pressure and his buddies will come to his rescue as often as he screws up. However, it always amazes me how it only takes a select few friends who will say all the right things on his behalf and the next thing you know, everything is all better.

Well, no it's not. What Louise Smith and Mayor Ireton did last night was disgraceful. While a hand full of close friends may pat Ireton on the back, many more, (who supported him) will not accept this kind of behavior. Louise Smith knew what Ann was going to say last night and they pre planned shutting her down before she went public on PAC 14.

We are experiencing more of the same. Ask yourself this question. Would you EVER see this happen in a County Council Meeting? Absolutely Not! Mayor Ireton, take a good long look at the photos above. The excitement was unbelievable this day in which you were sworn in. Standing ovations, friends, family members and true supporters, excited about their new Mayor. If we were to take a poll today on your performance so far, my guess is the only people that would back you are family members and a hand full of close friends that are die hard democrats that would support anything and everything you do no matter what. Is that how you want to live out your term as Mayor.

There are a lot of unhappy people right now. Many people firmly believe the Chief of Police needs to be terminated, Ireton is too afraid of a lawsuit. Mind you Folks, the City is insured for such a lawsuit and has much deeper pockets than Chief Webster will ever have. Webster has threatened and proceeded to sue MANY people who disagree with him. Ireton needs to grow a pair and simply let the man go. Once again, if you were to do another poll and ask the citizens if they'd like to see the Chief be replaced I can assure you it would be an overwhelming yes. Get your tail out from between your legs Mayor and start doing what the people elected you to do. Re-evaluate ALL Department Heads, as promised. Poll the Council and see where each one of them stand referencing the termination of Chief Webster and make those results public. If they refuse to participate, take that pressure off your shoulders once and for all.

Run the City like a business and quit trying to make everyone your friend. Look at the Chief's position like a Head Coach of a Professional Football Team. In our case the opposing team, (the criminals) are winning day after day, game after game. How many more lives have to be taken. How many more home invasions have to happen before you people wake up. More importantly, just take a look at how Mayor Ireton and Louise Smith handled a victim last night. All over an address, come on now! At least show some compassion.

PUBLIC NOTICE: SPECIAL MEETING

In accordance with §SC2-4 of the Salisbury City Charter, a majority of the City Council have called for a Special Meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. to conduct a hearing on a claim for refund request.

The special meeting will be held in Conference Room 306 of the City/County Government Office Building (125 N. Division Street).

Humane Healthare

Obama and the liberal democrats are confident Health care will be more humane when it is nationalized and the government is in control.

In Canada, the government will not spend more than 10% of its GNP on health care. Is this more humane? Watch this video.

Remember, when an insurance company denies care, we have the strong arm of the government to come down hard on it. If we adopt a National Health Care System and the government denies care, there is no where to go for help. Dead End.

National Health Care In England. Is It Good For Us?

The Obama administration and the liberal democrats complain that republican operatives are spreading lies about what awaits Americans under a National Health Care System.

Check out a 2006 article in the BCC, England's main news organization:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/kent/4650488.stm

Do what you can to make sure Congress REFORMS our health insurance industry but does not REPLACE our entire health care system. The difference is critical.

FINALLY, A Way To Bring All Democrats/Republicans/Independents Together

The forever long debates between Republican, Democrats, Independents and what have you can very easily and very quickly be resolved. It doesn't matter if we're on a local level, national level or world wide level, I believe I have an answer to uniting ALL Americans and I truly believe each and every one of you will agree.

You see, right now many Americans are extremely upset about Health Care. Some are in support of it and many are against it. However, MOST Americans aren't educated enough about it.

Many Americans are getting Swine Flu Vaccines shoved down their throats, the MSM is actually SELLING Americans on it by throwing out 4 articles per day about it and trying to scare the crap out of ALL Americans that this is going to be the death of us.

So here's how we resolve ALL of our issues with important decisions of such at ANY level.

ALL Senators, Congressmen, Delegates, Mayors, Lobbyists, Vice President & President AND their immediate Family members MUST take part in a pre trial for at least 6 months in advance before ANY project is shoved down our throats as Americans.

They want ALL Americans to get shots, let them take the shots first and come back to us in 6 months and PROVE to us it works. They wants ALL Americans to be on Government Health Care, let ALL of them go on it first and give it a run for 6 months and then come back to us and tell us how well it's working for them.

If we simply demanded accountability and changed the policy on each and every program they shoved down our throats, I say let's go for it then. However, if they refuse to prove to the people that voted for them that they are NOT willing to get on board, well, need I say more!

You don't see Church Bulletins telling everyone NOT to shake hands at Church or receive communion. If there was such a big scare, why haven't they come forth in advance and tell everyone how to take better care of ourselves in advance.

I want my Congressman and his entire Family to take these shots first, place his Family at risk, (six months in advance) and then come back to me and ASK me to participate because it's good for our health.

I for one refuse to drink any Cool Aid, especially when the person serving it refuses to take a swig first. You want to rid of all of this crap fast, force our leaders to participate in every single program FIRST and come back to us after 6 months and tell us how wonderful it worked for you, IF they're still alive.

I'll bet you there would be a TON of Pork disappearing from all sorts of legislation and a lot more time, (at least 6 months) to read 1,800 page bills while recovering from nasty flu shots.

Let's change the scope of what a Politician means today. Let them prove to us that they're honest and united about making sure ALL of us are truly represented. Just imagine how hard some politicians might work at defeating a bill if it could harm their loved ones. Could you imagine what would have happened to Dick Cheney's heart condition is HE was on Government Health Care, just like every American is being subjected to. He'd be dead today and he knows it.

Accountability is the key Folks. People became politicians because they wanted to make a positive difference and make their children's world a better place to live, work and raise their own children in a better America. Today, politicians go in poor and come out some of the wealthiest people in America. Turn this idea into policy in America and watch the political discourse disappear immediately.

What do YOU think?

Wicomico County Personal Race And Ethnicity Identification Form

Joe,

Can someone please tell me what in the world this form is necessary for? I received this in my child’s enrollment package for school and don’t understand its purpose. I thought the good ole USA was suppose to be a melting pot of cultures but with stuff like this it is apparent that this isn’t so. No wonder we still have racism issues when the government keep us separated into groups by race. I could understand if it was for medical reasons but this application just seems to be ridiculous.

Another Brooke Update

It is day +2 from Transplant and Brooke is doing well. Most of her issues at this point are related to the Mucositis (mouth pain, vomiting & diarrhea). I have noticed today that she is becoming weaker and is having difficulty standing up without assistance. I’ve requested a tub seat for her daily showers and I am hoping that she will be getting PT & OT 3X/week to work on her strength and endurance (last transplant she only had PT & OT 1X/week).

Saturday Brooke enjoyed a visit from Nana and they played for hours together while I got to do laundry & eat and Sunday Aunt Jenn drove here from Fairfax, VA to spend some time playing with Brooke and to give me a break (again I did laundry & ate)! If you are wondering why I am doing laundry every day it’s the only way that she can have her blankie and stuffed animal while in transplant (they have to be washed daily). There is NO way she could go without them for 1 month. Her other 2 stuffed animals have to remain in a Ziploc bag on her bed until we go home.

Well that’s about all to report at this time. I want to thank Becky & Mrs. Clarke for their visit tonight as well (and for bringing me dinner)!

As always thank you so much for your prayers and messages of encouragement.

God Bless,

Amy

THE COW AND THE ICE CREAM

From a teacher in the Nashville area

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year. The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.

I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other classmembers.

We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now it was Olivia's turn to speak. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it. She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were
thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide. Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream.

The other 48 percent know they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone --- that they have not first taken away from someone else.

HB 1388 PASSED

You just spent $20,000,000 to move members/supporters of Hamas, a terrorist organization, to the United States; housing, food, the whole enchilada.

HB 1388 PASSED

Whether you are an Obama fan, or not, EVERYONE IN THE U. S. needs to know....

Something happened.... H.R. 1388 was passed, behind our backs. You may want to read about it.. It wasn ' t mentioned on the news... just went by on the ticker tape at the bottom of the CNN screen.

Obama funds $20M in tax payer dollars to immigrate Hamas Refugees to the USA . This is the news that didn ' t make the headlines...

By executive order, President Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in "migration assistance" to the Palestinian refugees and "conflict victims" in Gaza.

The "presidential determination", which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States , was signed and appears in the Federal Register.

Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.

Let's review....itemized list of some of Barack Obama ' s most recent actions since his inauguration:

His first call to any head of state, as president, was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory.

His first one-on-one television interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television.

His first executive order was to fund/facilitate abortion(s) not just here within the U. S. , but within the world, using U. S. tax payer funds.

He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees halted.

He ordered overseas CIA interrogation centers closed.

He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and the "terror attack" on 9/11.

Now we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to, and live in, the US at American taxpayer expense.

These important, and insightful, issues are being "lost" in the blinding bail-outs and "stimulation" packages.

Post Turtle

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who's hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his being our president.

The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''..Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him, what a 'post turtle' was.

The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. 'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with'.

Indian River Inlet Bridge Construction Has Positive Economic Impact For Sussex County

Governor Markell and Federal Officials Discuss Job Creation and Benefits to Local Businesses

Rehoboth Beach
-- Governor Jack Markell today joined Secretary of Transportation Carolann Wicks, U.S. Senator Thomas Carper, U.S. Senator Ted Kaufman, U.S. Representative Michael Castle, Federal Highway Administration Officials, Bridge Builders Skanska USA Civil Southeast, as well as business leaders in a press conference to highlight the creation of jobs and other economic benefits of the construction of the new Indian River Inlet Bridge.

Governor Markell stated, "The positive economic impact of the new Indian River Inlet Bridge construction is that it is creating jobs, bringing business to local companies, and is benefiting the local resort community, which ultimately affects the entire state." Governor Markell highlighted the fact that the bridge construction will bring 100-125 craft labor jobs to Delaware, and has already benefitted some local businesses such as Thoro-Good Concrete Company, who is supplying the concrete for the bridge via a $4 million contract.

Secretary of DelDOT Carolann Wicks highlighted the involvement of the federal delegation and the Federal Highway Administration, who earmarked $54 million in federal funds for this project. Their financial commitment and support have been critical to getting the $149 million-bridge funded.

Executive Directors from both the Rehoboth/Dewey and the Bethany/Fenwick Island Chambers of Commerce were on hand and noted that the local economy is benefiting from the bridge construction as well. "Skanska employees are frequenting restaurants, gas stations and retail shops in the area. They are renting or buying homes in seashore communities, and they are bringing their families and friends to vacation in the area, furthering the economic stability of the resort area," said Andrew Cripps, Executive Director of the Bethany/Fenwick Chamber of Commerce.

The beautiful and efficiently designed bridge will be 2,600 feet long, including 900 feet for the actual clear span over the inlet, with 1,700 feet of the bridge over land. It will be supported by piers in the ground, not in the water. The bridge will have a 100-year design life and will be built to withstand the extreme weather conditions of the area.

Price Statement On Health Care “Co-Ops”

Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement regarding the inclusion of ill-defined co-ops in a health care reform package.

“Health care reform should start and end with empowering patients,” said Chairman Price. “We welcome any discussion of new ideas that will bring patients closer to the care they need without government getting in the way. A co-op by definition, however, does not include government control. The specifics of including a co-op are murky at best. Any Washington control over such a structure would raise immense concern. Patients should be wary of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A co-op that is simply another name for a public option, or government-run plan, will be rejected by the American people.

“Positive changes to our system will give patients greater control over the purchase and ownership of health care coverage. Any increased control given to Washington is control taken away from patients and their doctors. With the American people becoming increasingly engaged in the debate, we have a great opportunity to move health care reform in the direction of those most intimately affected by the legislation: patients. Given time to do this right, I am confident we can achieve positive, patient-centered health care reform.”

King Op-Ed: Liberal Policies Benefit Illegals

Washington Times, Aug 20 - American workers depend on this administration to protect their jobs from illegal workers by enforcing immigration laws and opposing amnesty. Instead, President Obama and liberals in Congress are determined to pursue a legislative agenda that benefits illegal immigrants at the expense of American workers and taxpayers.

In February, liberals on Capitol Hill muscled an expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program through Congress, making it easier for illegal immigrants to receive taxpayer-funded health care services. For Medicaid benefits, their SCHIP expansion eliminated citizenship verification requirements by substituting a new lower standard, simply requiring that a Social Security number be entered into the blanks on the form.

This was not an accident. It was a willful verification change to create an open door to Medicaid fraud and abuse by illegals. Simply telling a case worker a nine-digit number now constitutes "proof" of U.S. citizenship. The Congressional Budget Office estimated this change will cost taxpayers $8.9 billion over 10 years...
