US Can’t Access NSA Phone Records In California Terror Case
WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. government’s ability to review and analyze five years’ worth of telephone records for the married couple blamed in the deadly shootings in California lapsed just four days earlier when the National Security Agency’s controversial mass surveillance program was formally shut down.
Under a court order, those historical calling records at the NSA are now off-limits to agents running the FBI terrorism investigation even with a warrant.
Instead, under the new USA Freedom Act, authorities were able to obtain roughly two years’ worth of calling records directly from the phone companies of the married couple blamed in the attack. The period covered the entire time that the wife, Tashfeen Malik, lived in the United States, although her husband, Syed Farook, had been here much longer. She moved from Pakistan to the U.S. in July 2014 and married Farook the following month. He was born in Chicago in 1987 and raised in southern California.

Another Local Restaurant to Close - Vinny's
Longtime Local Restaurant to Close!
Vinny's La Roma, a restaurant staple in Salisbury for nearly four decades, plans to close on December 31:
"It is with a heavy yet happy heart that I announce my coming retirement and that La Roma will be closing at the end of the year. We have had a great run, and we appreciate the hard work and dedication of those who have made it possible all these years."
Vinny, you will be missed!
Why is it that Berlin and Cambridge thrive with locally owned restaurants, and Salisbury can't?!
BREAKING NEWS: Carla Moore GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS
Carla Moore was just sentenced to 20 years but will only serve 7. She must also pay just over $128,000 in restitution.
Judge Sarbanes was clearly upset that Ms. Moore violated the trust of not only the council and her family, but also the trust of the Pittsville tax payers. He went on to say that this isn't just a small theft of a few thousand dollars, this was major theft over a very short period of time. Hence his judgement to have her incarcerated for 7 years.
As restitution Attorney John Phoebus presented a small farm in Pittsville owned by her father, Town President Denver Moore, that allegedly appraised at $110,000. Salisbury News would like Pittsville residents to question, could this property be worth only $10,000?
Attorney John Phoebus stated clearly that the town council might actually might want the land and not the $110,000. This doesn't pass the smell test nor will it be questioned by the rest of the main stream media.
Finally, councilmen George Whited sent a letter to Judge Sarbanes asking for leniency.
We should receive a press release from the State's Attorney's office about this case and we will post it as soon as it is received.

We've been informed Police were chasing a white vehicle on Rt. 13 North bound who attempted to go through a red light near or at the Home Depot/Sam's area in which 5 vehicles collided. Information is still coming in and we'll try to keep everyone updated.
We're told there's a major backup on Rt. 13.
We're told it was a female driver they were chasing. Vehicles are now backed up well past the car dealerships on Rt. 13 and vehicles cannot exit the Home Depot area.

A Letter To The Editor 12-5-15
Editor,
The following is a copy of an email I sent to the governor of Maryland today. Hopefully many of your readers will agree with the content and draft a letter to encourage Governor Hogan to take action.
Dear Governor Hogan,
The following is a copy of an email I sent to the governor of Maryland today. Hopefully many of your readers will agree with the content and draft a letter to encourage Governor Hogan to take action.
Dear Governor Hogan,
Today I read a statement from the Chief of Police to the citizens within his community. He advised them that we live in different times. Troubled times – indeed violent times. Of this there can be no doubt. This Police Chief advised his citizens that he and his officers would do everything they could to protect them and prevent the type of violence that took place in San Bernadino from occurring in their area but that any response to such an incident by his personnel would be just that……a response. He encouraged them to be vigilant, to be aware of their surroundings. He encouraged them to say something if they see something. Then he told them the most important thing he could. He told them that if they were in an area when a terrorist attack takes place they would have to be responsible for their own survival. He advised that any of the citizens had concealed carry permits should carry their weapons everywhere they were permitted to do so because they may well be the only people in a position to end the situation and limit the carnage caused by these animals. He advised all off duty police officers to carry their weapons with them everywhere.
To me this was a profound statement.
I then read a press release from Worcester Co. Sheriff Reggie Mason. His message left me with an empty feeling. He stated that he and his deputies train and will keep training and will remain vigilant to do what they can to protect our schools. But that’s all he could say. It was a sad reminder that we, the citizens of the State of Maryland, have had our God given right of self –defense stripped from us. We have been reduced to being potential victims in an increasingly dangerous world by elected officials who believe that the police can protect us from violent criminals……even while the police openly say they can’t protect us. Self-defense is an individual responsibility. An individual right endowed upon us by our creator.
Some time ago we all saw a court ruling that Maryland’s requirement for a “good and substantial reason” to be shown is unconstitutional. We saw that the states Attorney General was going to appeal the ruling. And we’ve heard no more about it. Today I appeal to you, Governor. Is The increase in risk of a terrorist attack on the innocent law abiding citizens of our state a good and substantial reason to allow us to defend ourselves? Why do we need the approval of the government to defend our families against this increasing risk. How many of our citizens will have to lose their lives to meet the threshold of “Good and Substantial reason”?
I am a law abiding citizen. I work every day. I pay my taxes. I open doors for older people. I say yes ma’am and yes sir to my elders. I’ve served my country. I’ve never been arrested. I love my wife, my children, and my grandchildren. When I stand for the pledge of allegiance my eyes well up. I am an American! I am not a criminal and I have no desire to be but it seems you are leaving me no choice. I won’t stand by and cower on the floor waiting to be shot like 75 people did in Paris. I won’t get down on my knees and wait to be shot by a terrorist. The lack of a reasonable concealed carry law and an increasingly violent world have brought me to a fork in the road. Obey the law and run the increasing risk of being caught unarmed in a terrorist attack leaving my family and myself with no way to defend ourselves or break the law and carry a firearm without a permit hoping that I’ll never have to answer for it. I’m asking you…….I’m pleading with you…..don’t leave me and countless thousands of others like me in this position. I’m asking you to sign an executive order suspending the Good and substantial reason requirement and order your Superintendent of the Maryland State Police to begin processing all concealed carry permits forthwith. A very simple action that will enable good law abiding citizens all over the state of Maryland to join the ranks of millions in other states who currently issue concealed carry permits with absolutely no horror stories such as those promised by people who oppose firearms. Without any such action more and more law abiding citizens every day will be forced to decide between obeying the current law and becoming a possible victim of violent crime and breaking the law to protect themselves and their families.
Thank You

‘Clock Boy’ Ahmed Homesick in Qatar, Wants to Come Back to Texas
Within days of demanding a total of $15 million from the City of Irving and the Irving Independent School District, “Clock Boy” Ahmed Mohamed announced in a long distance phone interview from Qatar, he is homesick and wants to come home to Texas now.
In October, Ahmed accepted a fully-funded education scholarship from the Qatar Foundation, an organization with reputed ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, over an invitation to MIT, which is among the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the world. The family announced they would relocate to Qatar to accommodate his education, which they did.

Beware Pittsville Property Owners
Earlier today I did an article about Carla and Denver Moore. I questioned how much Denver Moore paid for the property he offered to give to the Town of Pittsville towards Carla's restitution of $128,000.00. Are you ready?
The Moore family paid $10.00 for the property. You read that right. 8363 Whitesville Road is the address, look it up.
So let's see. He paid $10.00 for it and it was allegedly appraised for $110,000.00 . I'll leave the rest to you.

Carla Moore & My Personal Thoughts On Yesterday's Trial
Denver Moore was removed from the court room for most of the trial but when he returned this piece of crap tried his very best to stare me down, as if he wanted to attack me. Wow, what a tough guy, NOT! I think all of you know by now that I think this guy is a complete scumbag but that's just my opinion as a Pittsville taxpayer.
My thoughts on the property the family offered. Well, could it be that Denver picked up this property at foreclosure for $10 or $20,000.00? Could it be that the man is actually looking to make a profit off the sale/gift to taxpayers??? Considering we don't have the actual address of the land, we'll just assume this is the case. It may have appraised for $110,000.00 BUT WHAT DID YOU PAY FOR IT DENVER?
As for the honorable Judge Sarbanes, great work Sir, seriously. Judge Sarbanes was clearly educated from top to bottom on this case and anyone present yesterday could clearly tell this by his remarks.
As for the prosecuting attorney, again, very well educated on the case and guess what, even John Pheobus did an incredible job defending his client. His attempts to place DOUBT was just incredible and very creative. However, the facts were the facts and there was no denying the final outcome.
So here's what you won't read or hear from the rest of the local media, aside from what we've already told you.
Carla Moore not only stole from the Town of Pittsville, she continued to TRY to steal from the Town up to FIVE months after she was fired. She was attempting to charge payments on the Town credit card.
Carla Moore was getting up to 14 paychecks a month, forging signatures on checks and pulling checks at random throughout the pile of Town checks in stock. She played multiple tricks to game the system but in the end it all caught up to her and there was no denying she was guilty. In fact, Carla quit her current job a few days ago because, (and her attorney admitted this in court) she knew she was going to jail.
As for George Whited, (Town Council Member) his letter to the Judge, along with Denver Moore's offer of land, should have BOTH members immediately removed from anything to do with the Town based on NO CONFIDENCE. The voters of Pittsville should come together and have them removed immediately.
Look, the mere fact that ANY of this went on, ($128,000.00 worth) should be enough to have them ALL removed. This is AMERICA and NONE of you should stand for this. It's about time We the People should stand up against people like this and have them removed.
Finally, the harsh looks I received AS A TAXPAYER from Denver Moore tells me he has NO REMORSE whatsoever for what his Daughter did. In fact, I spoke to one of the attorneys there yesterday and was told he was giving the same stare down to other people throughout the two day trial. Carla Moore got off easy, (in my opinion). You have to understand that Judge Sarbanes is held by the state to a certain sentencing guideline. However, he exceeded that and made sure she would be held to an additional 5 years of supervised probation. Life, even after serving her time in jail will not be simple. If she fails to comply with probation and does not pay back the $128,000.00, she'll go back to jail for another 13 years.

NRA blamed, God mocked, calls for gun control in wake of San Bernardino shooting
Politicians who offered thoughts and prayers with the victims and their loved ones in the wake of a brutal terror attack in San Bernardino California Wednesday were strongly rebuked, and indeed mocked, for not doing more about "gun" violence.
The New York Daily News, for example, complained that "the Republicans were preaching about prayer" instead of fighting the Second Amendment to the Constitution.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department confirmed that deceased suspects Syed Rizwan Farook, 28 and Tashfeen Malik, 27 took the lives of 14 innocents, further injuring 17 at the Inland Regional Center, a non-profit social services center serving the developmentally disabled.
The media coverage quickly turned to "gun" violence, as President Obama set the tone by strongly implying that America is the problem, saying in part,

Pit bulls kill 4-year-old boy in Detroit neighborhood
DETROIT (AP) — A pack of pit bulls yanked a 4-year-old Detroit boy from his mother, dragged him away and mauled him to death Wednesday, police said.
The boy died from his injuries after the attack in his neighborhood. Police killed three dogs and had a fourth pit bull in custody, Sgt. Cassandra Lewis said.
The attack occurred while the boy was walking with his mother. The dogs crawled through a gap at the bottom of a fence and pounced.
“The mother tried to fight the dogs off,” Police Chief James Craig said. “What’s telling in this scenario (is) the viciousness of these animals, the fact that they removed this child from the mother’s grasp.”

Cardin Statement on the Mass Shooting In San Bernardino
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) released the following statement:
“I send my most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to families who have been impacted by this latest scourge of gun violence. I thank the first responders who are tending the wounded and placing their lives on the line to bring the perpetrators to justice. Once again, America is reeling after reports of another mass shooting. Once again, we will learn the names and stories of victims who were killed or injured for no other reason than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Once again, I ask why? Not only why did this happen, but why do the most common sense solutions seem out of reach despite the growing bloodshed?
“We must be outraged by these shootings. We cannot allow such violence to become merged into the background of daily life as we know it. There has been a mass shooting in this country at a rate of nearly one a day for almost a year. Now is precisely the time to get serious about taking steps to reduce the frequency of these horrible attacks.”
A Letter To The Editor: Mathias/Odachowski Marijuana
Good morning,
This was sent yesterday evening to the marijuana licensing board, any WJZ - FWIW.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
You certainly called this one !
Many business owners here are aware of the 'tactics' of these two thanks to your article January 2015.Presumably untouchable !
Here it is :
Dear Sir/Madam
It would be a very bad decision to entitle Mr. Odachowski (and Senator James Mathias indirectly - AKA Royal Plus) to a, possibly 3, Medical Marijuana grow license(s).
It will have far reaching implications, not to mention the 'integrity' of your intentions.
This is per a Washington Post Investigation.
(See link below for more details).
Senator Mathias voted YES to Legalized Medical Marijuana.
Washington Post :
"Senator Mathias 'forgot' to list his association with Royal Plus (Mr. Odachowski) while sponsoring legislation that would give his employer a big payday". "Senator Mathias was warned to disclose this relationship by the Ethics Committee, and yet failed to do so"....
Please, Please read this article that most of us here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland have known for years.

My name is Nicole Viola, my father Robert Viola who is a decorated Vietnam Veteran, passed away November 27, 2015 from esophageal cancer. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. I am in need of $5000 to pay the funeral home to hold his body until Arlington National Cemetery can arrange his burial service, which I have been told can take 2-4 months. I have 72 hours to come up with this money because the morgue at the Hospice center he was in for his last days can only keep him for 72 hours. The funeral home needs payment upfront to hold his body for Arlington National Cemetery. Being buried at Arlington National Cemetery is my father's last wish and I want to honor his wishes and have my father laid to rest with honor as he deserves. Please help me carry out my father's wishes and allow him to truly rest in peace with dignity and distinction. I am truly grateful for any and all assistance I can get at this difficult time.

Why does NRA allow guns for terrorists?
(CNN)During this holiday season, if some of your loved ones are Republican, consider giving them the gift of a reality check.
I know there are plenty of sane Republicans out there. I've met some. In fact, years ago, I was a registered Republican myself. That phase lasted right up to the point where I noticed a new world order of haves and have-nots, with terms dictated by Wall Street and Silicon Valley. Nowadays, I stare at the party in bewilderment.
The latest mind-numbing puzzle: The GOP is blocking a law that would prevent known and suspected terrorists from buying guns.
This is not just a what-if scenario. The nonpartisan Government Accountability Office recentlyreleased a report showing that from 2004 to 2014, people on terrorism watch lists successfully purchased guns no fewer than 2,043 times.

Seaford Ice faces $77,000 OSHA fine after worker loses legs in accident
Seaford Ice is facing $77,000 in penalties from the Occupational Health and Safety Administration after a work lost both legs below the knee.
OSHA launched an investigation on May 28, 2015, after learning of a worker amputation at Seaford Ice Inc. The agency found that the employee fell into an unguarded conveyor opening while breaking ice. The worker lost both of his legs below the knee.
Following the May incident, OSHA cited the company on November 18 for one willful, five serious and three other than serious violations. The agency, according to a release, cited the willful violation for lack of machine guards. Electrical hazards, unguarded machines, hazard communication violations and the absence of a program, which prevents the accidental start-up or movement of machinery, were among the serious violations. The other-than-serious violations involved lack of a personal protective equipment assessment and electrical violations. Proposed penalties total $77,000.
An OSHA release stated that it was the second time a worker suffered an amputation due to lack of machine guards at the company’s Seaford plant. In 2012, an employee had a foot amputated after it touched a conveyor. OSHA determined that the conveyor openings were too large, and its guard was inadequate.

Jury Selection in Freddie Gray Death Offers Look at Life in Baltimore
BALTIMORE — As jury selection opened Monday in the trial of the first of six police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray, more than half of roughly 75 potential jurors told a judge that they or their immediate family members had been either a victim of crime, investigated, charged or incarcerated.
Judge Barry G. Williams of Baltimore City Circuit Court spent about 45 minutes in open court questioning a racially mixed pool of potential jurors in the case of Officer William G. Porter, who has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and other charges in the death of Mr. Gray, a 25-year-old black man.
It was the first step in a process that later moved behind closed doors, with the judge continuing questions in private. A fresh group of 75 potential jurors is expected Tuesday, with opening statements unlikely to be made until Wednesday at the earliest.

What's Your Opinion?
I happen to see this comment on a story Politico posted on Facebook. What is your opinion of this comment??
These Trump supporters are looking more and more like the blind Germans who put Hitler into power.
They need to rely on these large brain-washing rallies to garner up support. I don’t blame them though, what else is there to talk about? Obama has honestly done a great job.
Dow over 17,000, record corporate profits, 5% growth, best year for jobs since 1999, consumer confidence up, deficit down 60% in 2014, gas prices low, health insurance cheaper than ever ($85/month), car insurance cheaper than ever ($25/month from Insurance Panda), the 1% starting to be taxed more… all while republicans bleated about Benghazi took pointless votes to repeal the ACA, and did nothing for anybody except the top one percent.
It turns out that Obama is indeed “the adult in the room,” and yes, the Chess Master.
Democrats are doing cartwheels that Trump and Carson have so mesmerized the Republican Party. Think of the disappointment of their rabid followers when Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio is the nominee. Think of the horror of Trump or Carson being on top of the ticket if you're a Republican. It will be 2008 all over again.
HRC will keep it going, any republican will screw it up. Simple as that.

Governor: State, City Prepared For Any Unrest
BALTIMORE (AP) — Gov. Larry Hogan says the state of Maryland has been preparing for any disturbances in Baltimore related to the trials of six officers in the death of Freddie Gray ever since he called in the National Guard to help restore order after the unrest in April.
The Republican governor said Monday that a security team in his administration has been working with the city’s police commissioner and the state police superintendent. He says his team has met almost on a weekly basis since April.

Small Group Of Demonstrators Shout ‘No Justice, No Peace’ As Freddie Gray Trials Begin
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — In front of the courthouse where jury selection is being held, 10 protesters let themselves be heard.
Mike Schuh reports for WJZ.
As they protested, William Porter entered the courthouse through a side door.
It would have been impossible for him not to have heard for those calling for his conviction on manslaughter and other charges.
“No justice, no peace,” was shouted through megaphones outside the courthouse.

Florida ‘Muslim-free’ Gun Shop Owner Wins Discrimination Suit
A federal discrimination lawsuit filed by a Muslim activist group against a Florida gun retailer owner who declared his shop a “Muslim-Free Zone” has been dismissed.
U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom ruled that Florida Gun Supply owner Andy Hallinan’s sign was protected by the First Amendment, and the activists couldn’t prove they were injured by the action, a local NBC affiliate reported.
The plaintiff, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Florida, has 30 days to appeal the decision.
Mr. Hallinan made headlines earlier this year when he declared his Inverness store a “Muslim-free zone” in the wake of the shooting of four servicemen outside a recruiting office in Chattanooga, Tennessee, by an Islamic extremist.
CAIR announced the lawsuit against the gun store in July, saying the Muslim-free zone amounted to religious discrimination, violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Baltimore Residents Wary As Freddie Gray Trials Slated To Begin
It's been seven months since protests over the death of an unarmed black man after his arrest erupted into looting and arson, leading Baltimore's mayor to declare a curfew and call in the National Guard. Now, that unrest remains a potent backdrop as the trial begins for the first of six police officers charged in Freddie Gray's death.
"I just want peace while the trial is going on," says Missa Grant, standing at a bus stop across a busy intersection from the former CVS that became a televised symbol of the violence. The store was looted, set fire to, and eventually torn down. The walls of a new red brick structure are now halfway up.
Grant says if the evidence shows the officers are not guilty, so be it. But with such a long and growing list of unarmed black men killed by police all over the country, she doesn't think everyone will see it that way
"I believe there's going to be another riot, I really do," she says. "It's not what I'm looking for. But I really believe that they're going to react out if somebody doesn't have to stand up for what happened to Freddie Gray."

Woman to Hillary: You Say Rape Accusers Should Be Believed, What About Your Husband’s?
During a campaign event in New Hampshire today,Hillary Clinton was asked about the women who accused her husband of rape and sexual assault.
The woman pointed out how Clinton recently said all rape victims should be believed, and then asked, “Would you say that about Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, and/or Paula Jones?”
For those unfamiliar, Jones sued Clinton for sexual harassment, Willey accused him of sexual assault while he was president, and Broaddrick accused him of raping her.
