Obama 'Letting Muslim Brotherhood Run Anti-Terror Ops'

The Obama administration allowed into government agencies Islamic groups and activists tied to the Muslim Brotherhood who now influence U.S. anti-terrorism policies and endanger the nation, charges a newly released book.

In “Impeachable Offenses: The Case to Remove Barack Obama from Office,” New York Times bestselling authors Aaron Klein and Brenda J. Elliott document Obama not only aided the rise to power of Islamic extremist groups in the Middle East but ushered likeminded extremists into the gates of the White House, with Muslim Brotherhood groups serving on important national security advisory boards.

The owner of the InterAsian Market & Deli, Keosavanh Xayarath, remembers being robbed at gunpoint over a decade ago like it was yesterday.

The man and his son, Somboon Wu, were caught off guard when a mysterious man entered the store and insisted they accept an envelope marked “Owner.” The man reportedly told them that the delivery was very important because it contained money.

David Craig On Tax Foundation Analysis Of Maryland's Small Business Taxes

Governor candidate and Harford County Executive David R. Craig released the following statement regarding the Washington-based Tax Foundation's analysis of Maryland's small business taxes.

"Maryland punishes small businesses. With marginal tax rates for sole proprietorships and S-corporations the 7th highest nationally and the highest among all neighboring states in the region, the O'Malley-Brown Administration can take credit for driving away small businesses. Our state has lost small businesses at rates that are among the highest in the region under their term in office and high taxes are the reason."

CNN Poll: Obama's Foreign Policy Rating at All-Time Low

A day before President Obama is scheduled to deliver a prime time address on Syria, a new national poll shows his approval rating on foreign policy has hit an all-time low.

Only four in 10 approve of the job Obama is doing on foreign policy, while 57 percent disapprove, according to the CNN/ORC International survey of more than 1,000 adults.

"President Obama's approval rating on foreign affairs has continued its steady decline - from 54 percent in January to 49 percent in April, 44 percent in June, and just 40 percent now," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "This may be a troubling sign for a president who in past polls had always scored his highest ratings for his handling of foreign affairs."

Court Victory For Voter Integrity in Mississippi

U.S. District Judge Keith Starrett in the Southern District of Mississippi signed a consent decree to clean up a county’s voter registration rolls in response to a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Rights Union (ACRU), a conservative counterweight to the ACLU, in a Wednesday ruling.

The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA, also called Motor Voter) lowered the requirements for registering to vote in many ways, some of which carry significant risks of voter fraud. But it also empowers private entities to sue to enforce various provisions in NVRA.

In other words, if the Syria resolution isn't passed, the amendment would bind the President from being able to act independently of Congress -- something the administration has claimed they have constitutional authority to do.

GOVERNOR O'MALLEY JOINS VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN TO HIGHLIGHT INVESTMENTS AT PORT OF BALTIMORE

Rebuilding our infrastructure creates jobs and allows Maryland to compete in a modern economy

ANNAPOLIS, MD
-- Governor O'Malley joined Vice President Joseph Biden at the Port of Baltimore to highlight the $10 million in federal grants given to Maryland through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER), which will improve our infrastructure and strengthen our economy for middle class families. During the event, the two were joined by U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, U.S. Congressman John Sarbanes, U.S. Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger, U.S. Congressman Elijah Cummings, and other elected officials.

The TIGER grant program allows for the Port of Baltimore to increase its cargo handling capacity and provide rail access at its Fairfield Marine Terminal.
"With today's announcement, we are rebuilding our infrastructure in order to compete in a modern economy,"said Governor O'Malley. "Together, with the Obama Administration and our federal partners, we're moving the Port of Baltimore forward, creating jobs and connecting our State with cities and ports half a world away."
Better choices lead to better results. By partnering with our private sector, together we are creating 5,700 jobs and preparing our port to take on the New Panamax ships that will be headed up the coast in the coming years. What's more, with the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Act of 2013, Maryland is activating long-term strategies to invest in Maryland’s transportation systems, and supporting 57,200 jobs with $4.4 billion in new investments in the next six years.

Berlin Fire Funding Partially Restored By Council; Reduced Funding Means Tough Decisions Ahead, BFC Officials Report

BERLIN — A little more than a year after cutting all financial support to the Berlin Fire Company (BFC), the Mayor and Council voted unanimously Monday to restore $200,000 out of the $537,000 that was withdrawn.

There doesn’t appear to be a clear winner in the dispute at this time, with the BFC vocal about its fear that lower funding could impact service, the town still upset over the soured relationship and legal actions from disgruntled BFC employees brewing.

Though it’s a rough start, Mayor Gee Williams said that Monday’s decision to return partial funding to the BFC should be seen as a positive step forward.

UNC Prof Ignites 4th Amendment Debate After Being Pulled Over By Fire Truck

When a North Carolina firefighter switched on the siren atop his Chapel Hill Fire Department truck to get a driver he suspected of being impaired to pull over, he probably didn't expect to ignite a constitutional debate.

But that's exactly what has happened. The woman Fire Lt. Gordon Shatley pulled over on his way back from a call was Dorothy Hoogland Verkerk, a professor at the University of North Carolina and former town council member who is arguing use of the fire truck and siren - which are not authorized for law enforcement actions - gave the color of government to what might otherwise have been a lawful citizen's arrest. And although a lower court upheld Verkerk's arrest, an appellate court remanded the case with instructions to consider whether it was an illegal search and seizure.

Report: Surveillance Court Ruling Allowed NSA Search Of Domestic Email

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration quietly won permission from a surveillance court in 2011 for the National Security Agency to search deliberately for Americans' communications in its huge databases of intercepted phone calls and emails, according to a published report.

The Washington Post reported Saturday that officials in 2011 got the court to lift the ban on those kinds of searches, which the court imposed in 2008 at the government's request. The court also extended the length of time the NSA is allowed to retain intercepted communications from five to six years.

Red Light Cameras Increase Accidents

Red light cameras are touted as devices that increase intersection safety. However, information is quickly surfacing that shows the inaccuracy of that belief.

One source that is highlighting the increase in accidents is the media. Because so manystudies are showing an increase in collisions at red light camera intersections, various news outlets are conducting their own studies in this phenomenon. Below is a small sampling of these reports.

Reports From The Media

Los Angeles | KCAL TV
A local TV station fact-checked the city's claims that their ticket cameras reduced accidents and found that the opposite was true. At 20 of the 32 intersections studied, accidents increased and several intersections tripled their accident rate.

Washington, D.C. | Washington Post
This report showed an overall increase in accidents at red-light camera intersections of 107 percent.

‘Oh S***’: Mom’s Quick-Thinking Gun Move Sends Carjackers Fleeing

Picture this: You get home after a long day at work, step out of the car and you’re instantaneously held-up by a group of men who attempt to forcibly to steal your vehicle.

This is the exact scenario that Kari Bird, a mother of three who works full-time and is attending law school, encountered when she arrived home around 11:30 p.m. last Wednesday. But rather than cowering, Bird became an unsuspecting hero after she pulled a gun and defended herself, preventing them from taking the vehicle and sending them running.

The Indianapolis, Ind., resident told WXIN-TV that the group of four young men initially approached her, with the lead carjacker smiling and then quickly pulling out a gun. After telling Bird to give him her keys, she complied. But she then realized that all of her books and belongings were in the car, so she took a risk and made a quick decision, reaching into her console and pulling out a gun of her own.

About That Whole Global Warming Thing

Global warming alarmists, Al Gore, we need to talk.

Well, this is awkward. A leaked report by the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says that the world is not warming but actually cooling, and will continue to get colder until the middle of the century.

You remember the IPCC, right? It’s the group whose 2007 report on global warming said that snow would disappear from everywhere but the highest mountains, icebergs would melt, sea levels would rise, deserts would spread, people would die in heat waves and pretty much the earth was going to end if we didn’t immediately destroy our carbon-fueled economy with job-killing government regulations.

PAUL: How Do You Ask A Man To Be The First Man To Die For A Mistake?

This week, Secretary of State John F. Kerry came before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to make his case for war with Syria — a war that a majority of Americans don’t want, the administration still can’t clearly justify and for which Mr. Kerry himself made a very poor case.

A war that Mr. Kerry even refuses to call a war — at least not in the “classic sense,” he assures us.

The American people certainly see this as a potential new war, and the country is war-weary. After well over a decade in Iraq and Afghanistan, they are not eager to commit to another questionable intervention. Americans also know that whatever assurances this administration pretends it can give — that there will not be boots on the ground, that this will not be a protracted engagement — are all negotiable once the war actually begins.

'Either You Convert To Islam, Or You Will Be Beheaded'

The village of Maaloula has been taken over by Syrian rebels associated with al Qaeda, who have stormed the Christian center and offered local Christians a choice: conversion or death. A resident of the town said the rebels shouted “Allahu Akhbar” as they moved through the village, and proceeded to assault Christian homes and churches.
“They shot and killed people,” he said. “I heard gunshots and then I saw three bodies lying in the middle of a street in the old quarters of the village. Where is President Obama to see what has befallen us?” Another witness stated, “I saw the militants grabbing five villagers and threatening them and saying, ‘Either you convert to Islam, or you will be beheaded.’”

Study: VA Media In The Tank For Democrat McAuliffe In Governor's Race

A new review of the media's coverage of the race for Governor in the Commonwealth of Virginia shows a staggering one-sided favor for the Democrat candidate Terry McAuliffe.

A review of the media covering the hotly contested race shows that GOP nominee Ken Cuccinelli has withstood a 24-1 margin of stories by state-based newspapers attacking him or are otherwise negative with just four stories versus 95 showing the GOP candidate in a positive light.

The study of the media coverage of the VA race by the Media Research Center shows that the media appears to be all in for former Democratic National Committee Chairman and longtime Clinton crony McAuliffe.

Jeb Bush To Award Hillary 'Liberty Medal' On Eve Of Benghazi Anniversary

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) will honor former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with this year’s Liberty Medal from the National Constitution Center. The award will be presented to Clinton on September 10th, the eve of the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on the United States mission in Benghazi that killed four Americans.

The Christian Science Monitor reports that Bush, a potential GOP contender in the 2016 presidential race, is chairman of the board of trustees of the National Constitution Centerlocated in Philadelphia.

“Former Secretary Clinton has dedicated her life to serving and engaging people across the world in democracy,” Bush said in a statement. “These efforts as a citizen, an activist, and a leader have earned Secretary Clinton this year’s Liberty Medal.”

Bush’s decision to honor Clinton, who is considered by some to be a likely Democrat candidate for president in 2016, was condemned by the Independence Hall Tea Party Association of Philadelphia. According to the Christian Science Monitor, the organization released its own statement Monday, referring to the event as “extremely distressing,” and offering, instead, an opportunity for another Liberty Medal recipient.

GE To IBM Ending Retiree Plans Adds To Taxpayer Burden

America’s biggest employers, from GE to IBM, are increasingly moving retirees to insurance exchanges where they select their own health plans, an historic shift that could push more costs onto U.S. taxpayers.

Time Warner Inc. has said it would steer retired workers toward a privately run exchange, days after a similar announcement by International Business Machines Corp. General Electric Co. last year said it, too, would curb benefits in a move that may send some former employees to the public insurance exchanges created under the 2010 Affordable Care Act.

While retiree health benefits have been shrinking for years, the newest cutbacks may quickly become the norm. About 44 percent of companies plan to stop administering health plans for their former workers over the next two years, a survey last month by consultant Towers Watson & Co. found. Retirees are concerned their costs may rise, while analysts predict benefits will decline in some cases.

Barely noticed in the small crowd was Harford County Executive David Craig, the GOP candidate for candidate for governor with the most solid experience and the least pizzazz.

U.S. Spent $1,010,354,195 On Syrian Humanitarian Aid 2012-2013

U.S. taxpayers have spent at least $1,010,354,195 on Syrian humanitarian aid for fiscal years 2012 and 2013, according to official numbers from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

USAID, which was created by President John F. Kennedy, is the federal government's primary agency in charge of distributing civilian foreign aid.

Last month, President Barack Obama pledged $195 million in additional humanitarian support to Syrians affected by the country's civil war, tipping U.S. taxpayer spending over the $1 billion threshold.

"To help the many Syrians in need this Eid al-Fitr, the United States is providing an additional $195 million in food aid and other humanitarian aid, bringing our humanitarian contribution to the Syrian people to over $1 billion since the crisis began," Obama said in a White House statement. Syria Intelligence Being Manipulated EVEN MORE Than In Iraq War

The Obama administration is manipulating intelligence about Syria in exactly the same ways that the Bush administration did to justify the Iraq war.

Specifically, the Obama administration is copying Bush’s playbook of trying to kick UN weapons inspectors out of the target country so they can’t finish their investigation.

The Bush administration also famously “stove piped” information from the war hawks directly to the president – cutting out the normal vetting process by intelligence agencies.

Likewise, IPS reports today:
Contrary to the general impression in Congress and the news media, the Syria chemical warfare intelligence summary released by the Barack Obama administration Aug. 30 did not represent an intelligence community assessment, an IPS analysis and interviews with former intelligence officials reveals.

The evidence indicates that Director of National Intelligence James Clapper culled intelligence analyses from various agencies and by the White House itself, but that the White House itself had the final say in the contents of the document.

UPDATED: Lengthy Senate Report Details EPA FOIA Abuses

Environmental Protection Agency officials have from the beginning of President Obama's tenure in the Oval Office "pursued a path of obfuscation, operating in the shadows, and out of the sunlight," according to a Senate report.

The report by Republican members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee provides a detailed description of violations of the Freedom of Information Act and other federal laws and regulations meant to encourage transparency and accountability in the government.

"The agency established an alias identity to hide the actions of the former administrator; has purposefully been unresponsive to FOIA request, oftentimes redacting information the public has a right to know; and mismanaged its electronic records system such that federal records have been jeopardized," the report said.

The Latest Evidence Of Voter Fraud — And Discrimination

Obama-administration officials and their liberal camp-followers who routinely claim there is no reason to worry about election integrity because vote fraud is nonexistent suffered some embarrassing setbacks last week.

Federal law requires states to clean up their voter rolls. In 2009, the Obama Justice Department dismissed, with no explanation, a lawsuit filed by the Bush administration asking Missouri for such a clean-up. It has since taken no action against any other state or jurisdiction since it has an unofficial policy of not enforcing this requirement. But private parties are starting to force changes.

In Mississippi last Wednesday, the American Civil Rights Union won a significant victory for election integrity when a federal judge approved a consent decree in which Walthall County agreed to finally clean up its bloated voter-registration list. The county has more registered voters than the Census says it has eligible voters. The ACRU sued the county (which went for Romney in 2012) under Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), which requires election officials to maintain accurate voter rolls through a regular program that removes ineligible voters.

Emperor Obama’s Parlor Games

We have ceded far too much of what is ours to an imperial presidency.

‘One thing I’m proud of,” cultural icon Barack Obama boasted to MSNBC’s crack team of sycophants in 2006, “is that very rarely will you hear me simplify the issues.” On this, he has certainly been true to his word. Brevity and candor, shall we say, are not among our smartest president’s strengths nor, outside the abstract, is he much of a salesman.

Nevertheless, as gauche as it might sound to those who make a living being inscrutable, sometimes in politics questions really do have simple answers. Yesterday, speaking to journalists at the G20 summit in Russia, Obama was asked again and again what he planned to do if Congress refused to authorize action in Syria. The president brushed away the question as if it were an irrelevance. “You’re not getting a direct response,” he told journalists. When they pushed him anyway, he termed the matter a “parlor game.”
