Boscov's Files Bankruptcy

Didn't the Daily Times just do an article stating this was not going to happen? GO HERE to read the article opposite and factual of what the Daily Times had to say. You Pay for the Daily Times, Salisbury News is FREE.

GO HERE to read the Daily Times BS story from the other day.

See What I Have To Put Up With!

"Tell me Joe..if we were to be so lucky that you were beaten to death, would you have enough friends to carry your casket? Or would you have them discard your body at the landfill with the rest of the trash? Inquiring minds would love to know."

This of course was a comment on the Pet Emporium Post. Death threats don't bother me. Never have, never will. They claim to be a Firefighter/See/Gordy ass wipe suck up but I'm not so sure. Don't worry Folks, I won't be allowing any more comments of the sort in the near future but I just wanted to remind all of you, doing what I do every day isn't easy. YOU wouldn't want to do it nor would YOU want to deal with the threats.

A Comment Worthy Of A Post About The Pet Emporium

FOLKS -

Please od not deal with pet stores that sell animals (puppies, especially).

NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU, the animals have come from a puppy mill. Do a Google search and educate yourselves. You are NOT saving the poor, genetically challenged puppy from the forces of evil, you are promoting the people running these places to keep on keeping on. If no one buys puppy mill dogs, they will stop breeding them.

Breeding is not something to be done to make money. Reputable breeders seldom do. Each and every litter of Labradors bred by a RESPONSIBLE breeder has the following health certificates:
OFA (Orthopaedic Foundation for Animals) testing on hips and elbows, OFA for thyroid, CERF (Canine Eye Research Foundation) for eyes, DNA on record with the AKC, DNA tests for EIC (exercise Induced Collapse) and CNM (Centronuclear Myopathy), and heart testing.

Each breed has its own issues and tests. Ya think a puppy mill breeder even knows who the parents of their pups are????

SEBOOMOOK MAO WINS 3RD OF OCEAN SERIES SUNDAY

Three year-old filly Seboomook Mao has had a very successful past three weeks. The Badlands Hanover daughter from Stonebridge Bliss by Camluck started her streak of four wins in five starts with consecutive victories in the opening two legs of the “Budweiser Pace” late closer stakes series at Ocean Downs July 13 and 20.

“Coming up with those two wins did a lot for her,” said driver Wayne Long who now has 16 wins this summer. “She then went to the fair (July 24 Governor’s Day at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington) and had a big win for $20,000 (1:56.3)”. The Garnet O’Marrow-trained filly came right back to the ocean three days later and finished second in third-leg action July 27. She was rested though Sunday, August 3rd, winning the series final worth $9,400. “She’s really come around this summer. Yeah, she’s been sharp,” Long said.

The favorite Wesmokempeacepipe battled Pedo Doc in a torrid first three quarters of 1:25.2. “They were kind of torturing each other. I was hoping that come to the half (55.4), it wouldn’t take the life out of mine too. It worked out good for me,” Long explained as his horse showed patience and finished strong to win in 1:56.3 ($13.60). Wesmokempeacepipe (two series wins) finished second and Valid Expectation came in third.

The summer meet’s leading driver, Eric Ledford recorded a four-win night Saturday and a driving-double Sunday evening and has forty-seven wins through the 28th night of action in the 40-day meet, which concludes August 24th.

Mark Gray Sunday continued to excel at the ocean this summer, posting a driving-double. Gray has six driving wins in the past three racing nights and is second in the drivers-standings with 25 wins. Gray drives and trains four tear-old Hard Head, which won his fourth of the meet Sunday (1:57.3, $3.00). Driver William Carter also logged a driving-double Sunday, including a dead-heat win with five year-old Electric Ace.

Winning his first as a driver in two years, George Banks was the pilot for five year-old gelding Toy Power (1:59.2, $24.00). “He’s a little tiny horse, but he has a lot of heart and he’ll give you 100%,” Banks commented. This was a special win for the 63 year-old father of trainer/owner Keith Banks who was injured July 17th. “I told him I’ll train him for you if you let me drive him,” Banks said. “I told him if I win, I’d like to propose to Cathy (Cathy Sebring) in the winner’s circle. The horse was a long shot, but is training good and we’re in a class where we’re competitive. We’ll give it a shot.” Toy Power produced as George Banks got his wish and asked Sebring to marry him in the winner’s circle. She accepted as Banks and Toy Power watched. “I’m extremely thrilled, unbelievable,” Banks said happily. Sebring left her restaurant job and has been helping Banks with the horses the last four years. “Fantastic,” Banks added.

The 60th Anniversary live meet continues its Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday schedule with a 7:35 pm first post through the remainder of the Ocean Oval meet. Late closer series still to be completed include the “Hal Belote Memorial” pace Wednesdays, August 6, 13 & 20 and the “Alan Myer Memorial” trot series Thursdays, August 7, 14 & 21.

Many of their facilities have already been closed by the government during the past two years for their continued practice of hiring illegal immigrants...and now this??? What next? How soon before they order their employees to also give up Christmas for Ramadan? And...then what happens to Easter?

Me? I'm boycotting Tyson and I hope many others will follow suit. Does Tyson not realize it's Americans who buy their products and those same Americans can shut them down?

Chavez warns U.S. after getting Russian warplanes

RIA Novosti
Monday, Aug 4, 2008

President Hugo Chavez said Venezuela had taken delivery of 24 Russian Sukhoi fighter jets, and warned the U.S. Fourth Fleet that his country is ready to defend itself.

“We’ve received the 24 Sukhoi aircraft,” he said Sunday. “They’re for defensive purposes; we’re not going to attack anybody.”

The deal included training for pilots and crews, as well as missiles for the fighters.

Chavez said the Sukhoi missiles have far greater range than those of the U.S. F-16 fighter jet, and warned the U.S. Fourth Fleet to keep out of Venezuelan waters.

“Any gringo ship that sails into brown waters [river waters] will itself turn brown and go to the bottom, because they’ll not get through,” he said.

The jets are part of a recent $4 billion deal with Moscow, including tanks, transport planes, air-defense systems and AK assault rifles.

In 2005-2006, Venezuela signed a deal to buy more than 50 combat helicopters, 24 Su-30MK2 fighters, 12 Tor-M1 air defense missile systems and 100,000 AK-103 rifles from Russia.

Chavez, an outspoken critic of Washington since coming to power nine years ago, has focused his foreign policy on bolstering ties with countries outside the U.S. sphere of influence.

Local Salisbury Famliy Wins Park Quest East

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ new Park Quest summer family adventure kicked off on Saturday, May 24 and lasted for 8 weeks. Teams comprised of at least one team member under 16 years of age and one adult, visited six state parks on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and took part in a variety of activities such as paddling quiet streams, hiking trails in search of letter boxes, finding items on a scavenger hunt and fishing to complete their Park Quest passport. All teams to complete the six adventures were invited to compete in the finale event in attempts to win prize packages.

Visitors to Pocomoke River State Park and Pocomoke State Forest enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, picnicking, swimming, hiking, and bird and wildlife watching amongst 14,753 wooded acres along the Pocomoke River in the Southwestern section of Worcester County, between Snow Hill and Pocomoke City. The park's combination of swamp and forest is home to a great variety of plants and animals, including white dogwood and pink laurel, river otters and bald eagles, and more than 50 fish species.

The Greenlees also know as The Might Four won the Park Quest Challenge on Saturday.

"This program was a wonderful experience for my family. We visited 6 parks on the Eastern Shore and discovered the beauty that the shore has to offer."

The Greenlees are originally from New York, (Long Island) and moved to Salisbury 2 years ago. The idea of this event was to create interest from people WITHIN the State of Maryland to visit their State Parks. All too often people visit from out of state and this event encouraged what they had hoped to be 170 Families for the event. However, 48 Families completed the program. Events included 20 questions from one location about leaves, trees and wildlife from one Park. Another tested your skills on how fast you could put up a tent. The Greenlees constructed their is 3 minutes and seventeen seconds! They said the Rangers were out of this world.

They read about the event in the Chesapeaks East Magazine and ultimately won 4 Bicycles. Other prizes included, a canoe, a kayak, camping gear for a family of four, a fishing trip on the Chesapeake Bay as well as fishing gear. In order to qualify you must have a child under the age of 16 years old.

You can visit the DNR Website HERE to see more about this event. They plan on having more of these. However, the next time will be more in the Baltimore area.

Congratulations to the Greenlees Family. We look forward to some photos of the event. It's stories like this that simply blow away the "Larsons," doesn't it?

Ron Alessi Tells Another Tall Tale

WCLCB member, and Barrie Tilghman accolyte, Ron Alessi has written another piece which appears in today's Daily Times. Unfortunately, the piece does not appear in the online edition.

Let it suffice to say that this little piece of fiction is riddled with inaccuracy and false inference. What more should be expect from someone who learned at the feet of Wicomico County's most dangerous elected official? Read more ...

There's Nothing Better Than Great Friends & Maryland Crabs!

The ONLY thing that spoiled this unbelievable meal was knowing all the trees that were killed to use the Daily Times as a table cloth!

We were humbled to visit our friends Frank & Melissa down in Princess Anne the other day to enjoy absolutely fantastic, fat and juicy Maryland Crabs, Oysters and a Big Fat Cigar to top it all off.

I have neglected to mention last month my input on the food at the Tawes Festival. The Crabs Sucked! You could literally crush them in your hand and there was absolutely no meat in them. Granted, we were there for the fellowship for the most part but when we sat down to ear the crabs, they were NOTHING like what we had the other night! I was extremely disappointed in the crabs in Crisfield, I'm sorry to say. If you were there, what did you think? Only those people willing to sign their name will hold any credibility towards an answer to that question.

Princess Anne sure is a beautiful place Folks!

Don't Drink The Water!

Click on image above to enlarge.

While there's been so much talk recently about people wanting to visit this well, I stopped over there on Sunday to see what the hype was all about. Now granted, they did a beautiful job with the stone work and fencing and so forth. However, when I think of a well and the Mayor handing out certificates last Monday to all the water people in the City, (I know this isn't the same thing) I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw all that oil and grease floating on the top of the water!

It kind of makes you wonder where it's coming from, doesn't it? Is it oil from the road? It is crap underground? Is it contamination from the River? All I can say is, YUK!

Doug Marshall Delivers On His Word

The next time you're out and about on Rt. 13 North, stop in and check out the new Produce Stand the Marshall's have put up. The prices are fantastic and the watermelons are to die for. We bought one today, Oh My God!

As many of you know, I sold the old Fire Station in Pittsville to Todd and Carol Wampler and they opened up one of the finest restaurants anywhere around called Station 7. Todd purchased a custom trailer where he can go to special events and or pull into a location like this and serve incredible food without having to travel all the way to Pittsville.

They will be open there 6 days a week, closing for one day, (MONDAY) to bring their equipment back to their base and tidy it up more than usual. The thing is spotless. Todd must be obsessed about stuff like that?

So if you're looking for a great lunch and an excuse to try something different, Station 7 is a home run, you'll see. As for the Marshall's, I can't believe they turned this thing around so quickly! We wish everyone the best of luck in that new location and enjoy its success in good health.

Katie & The Owner Of The Pet Emporium Are Idiots

"Hey :) This is Katie; I work at the Seaford Pet Emporium. If you look at this picture again you'll see a large toy and food. The cages are cleaned twice a week, I should know since I am the one who does it. I find this blog to be stupid and a waste of your time :) I guess the owner must have pissed you off; What did he not let you suck his D!CK?

A comment for you.. You shop the rest; I shop the best Seaford Pets :)

Katie"

The the Owner Chimed is and said.....

"This is the owner of Seaford Pet Emporium, Edward Wagner. Please keep this blog as ong as you'd like, my attorney is working on a slander suit as we blog.

have a fagtasic day"

I did in fact call Katie to confirm she was the one who sent in this message at 302-628-9111 and she admitted it was in fact her that sent it in. First I'd like to tip my hat to Katie for having bigger ba((s than 99% of the entire Salisbury Fire Department. Secondly, I wanted everyone to see the kind of mentality these Idiots at the Pet Emporium have. Imagine how they treat the animals that can't talk back, verses humans.

Hey Ed, (if this is really you) BITE ME! Give that one to your attorney as well. Joe

"Wow, That's Really Cool"

That's Barrie Tilghman's new phrase for the week. Barrie is on the Air, (WICO 1320 AM) right now with Joel Hamilton from the Salisbury Zoo. "Wow, That's Really Cool." NOT!

For The 2nd Day In A Row, The Delmarva Inn Has Another Fight

This is yet another Flea Bag Motel that has completely fallen apart and obviously has people packed in the rooms like sardines.

This evening another fight broke out hospitalizing another person who was obviously beaten pretty bad. There was more to it once I got to the scene. The trash cans were overflowing like mad and there was a make shift tent set up just off the parking lot. It turns out, the Hispanic women make all their meals for the men in the morning and the evening in that tent.

There's water and electric run to the tent and quite frankly I don't know if it's legal or not? All I can tell you is, we may think these conditions are horrible but I'm told this environment if far nicer than where they come from.

Obviously these Motels are a magnet for Hispanic workers who can't afford any place else. While WE may not like it, it's a way of life for these people and they're not complaining. As for the person who beat the crap out of this guy, no one was talking, which is quite typical in these situations.

I should also explain that this is not an all year round situation. These workers come her to pick vegetables for a short period and then they're off to another part of the country. That doesn't mean these Motels shouldn't be up to code.

Notice the cover on the pool not being secure. I'm sure if I had gone upstairs and looked into the rooms they would have been similar to the Chesapeake Inn and the Thrift Travel Inn posted last week.

The Fire Department will no longer go on a call out there without Police Backup, it's just too dangerous and I certainly can't blame them. They're out numbered twenty to one, at least!

DELMARVA TOWING UP TO THEIR OLD TRICKS AGAIN!!!

"This past weekend on Sunday there was an accident on Rt. 50 & Hobbs Rd. in Salisbury.Parsonsburg fire dept. responded to the call. I have just one question, why is a parsonsburg EMT responding to an accident call in a TOW TRUCK? This is not the first time this has happened either. It was then that the Maryland State Police contacted Gary Pusey's Towing to remove one of the vehicles, and also contacted Delmarva Towing for the other vehicle. All of a sudden there are 3 TOW TRUCKS on the scene for two vehicles.Gary Pusey's truck arrived before the second Delmarva Towing truck but they sent him packing empty. I believe something needs to be done because isn't that a little like "ambulance chasing"? If a registered fire fighter or EMT responds to an accident shouldn't he have to be an EMERGENCY vehicle? Last time I looked a TOW TRUCK is not!!!!"

An Update On The Firefighter Paintings

Hi there Joe,

Things are progressing in an interesting fashion... the TV picked up on it here and have been filling in the news with the project and so, we have started the prints and cards and can offer them for much less than we originally thought. My web guy is getting it up on the site soon! It all happened a little faster than we were ready for.

I have also just put up a youtube video under Christine Mac Shane Henry and will be following up soon with a big one of the firemen I think. Just thought I'd keep you in the loop.

So far I have raised about $500.00 on my own and hope that the print sales will kick it up a notch when we are in production order.
Happy Blogging

Salisbury Zoo Taking Another Step In The Right Direction

It's clear that the new Zoo Director Joel Hamilton is taking his job seriously and recognizes things are quite frankly falling apart at the Salisbury Zoo.

Everyone knew that all you had to do was to bring in some new blood and things would start moving in the right direction. Now all they have to do is raise the money on their own and not burden the taxpayers and this will work out beautifully. They also need to remember, (AS WELL AS THE TAXPAYERS) that they have a new Master Plan. Will they be moving forward with that plan? If so, is a group like this and ANY renovations to what's existing worth it's weight in gold?

Accountability is a must and this is a question that must be answered BEFORE any of this moves forward. Remember, they spent $300,000.00 on the current Animal Services Building and then came to the City Council and asked for $2,000,000.00 to replace it because the AZA is demanding they do so. Well, it was the AZA who said they had to upgrade the old building, then replace it with a brand new one? It looks to me like the AZA is clueless as well.

Don't throw good money after bad money Joel. I like what you're doing, (for the most part) and I want to show support for the Zoo. However, ANY money thrown out the window just because someone feels it's time to realize what I've been saying for years is true. All of us want to know the complete details. The Fire Departments wants a $880,000.00 Fire Boat but they don't need it.

We Need A New Congress!

I have read different figures, but I believe the most valid polls say that only 14% of the population think that Congress is doing a good job. Now if you are one of those 14%, your might as well discard this letter now.

But If you think that Congress is doing a bad job and is leading us to ruin, read on.

Here is my solution: Historically incumbents are usually reelected. So if this holds true, after this election the "new" Congress will be no better than this one, unless we take action now.

I suggest that people forget whether they are Democrats or Republicans, and that they also forget which party their Senators and Congressmen are, and simply vote against the incumbent. If we wipe the slate clean, at least we will have a chance that the new Congress will be better than this one

I have no axe to grind, except I am trying to save our country. The time is ripe. Either we get rid of this do-nothing Congress now, or we are facing ruin.

Question of the Day, Mon 8/4

This question is brought to you by Stacy:

Do you believe in God or a higher power?

If you could ask God (or higher power) one question, what would it be?

CAN YOU GUESS WHAT THIS IS?

New Cook County Correctional Center, Chicago , Illinois

(I guess if I ever break the law, I'd better do it in Illinois !
Homeless people should have it so good!)
Once again the taxpayer gets stung.

It also shows t hat in most cases the quality of life for prisoners has improved considerably from what you might expect.
And I always thought prison was for punishment.!!!!!
Just in case you ever get these two environments mixed up, this comparison chart should make things a little bit clearer:

@ PRISON

You spend most of your time in a 10X10 cell @ WORK

You spend most of your time in a 6X6 cubicle @ PRISON

You get three fully paid for meals a day @ WORK

You get a break for one meal, and you have to pay for it @ PRISON

For good behavior, you get time off @ WORK

For good behavior, you get more work @ PRISON

The guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you @ WORK

You must carry a security card and open all the doors yourself @ PRISON

You can watch TV and play games @ WORK

You could get fired for watching TV and playing games @ PRISON

You get your own toilet @ WORK

You have to share the toilet with people who pee on the seat @ PRISON

They allow your family and friends to visit @ WORK

You aren't even supposed to speak to your family @ PRISON

All expenses are paid by the taxpayers with no work required on your part @ WORK

You must pay all your expenses to go to work, and they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners @ PRISON

You spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out @ WORK

You spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars @ PRISON

You must deal with sadistic wardens @ WORK

They are called 'managers'

THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE.

Things Haven't Changed A Bit At The Salisbury Zoo

Congressional Candidate Andy Harris Visits Eastern Shore Again!

It was great to see Senator Andy Harris in the Mardella/Hebron/Salisbury/Snow Hill area this weekend. Andy visited the Wright's Market on Rt. 50 and shook hands with hundreds of people enjoying free corn on the cob and free watermelon.

Once again I'll remind everyone, where's Frank? The boy is never around and nowhere to be seen! Does he think he's a shoe in on the Eastern Shore? I think not! Andy has gained the interest and respect from more people than you want to think or believe, trust me!

As a matter of fact, look around at some of your neighbors with Andy Harris signs in their yard. They're DEMOCRATS! Why, because Andy has a history and experience, Kratovill has NOTHING! Do you want another Barrie Tilghman in Office? If so, vote for Kratovill. If you want to see a change for the better here on the Eastern Shore, vote for Andy Harris. At least you know what you're getting.
