Delaware State Police have arrested a second teenager involved in a shooting within the last three days. The first 16 year old teenager was arrested Sunday August 8, 2010 after firing two rounds into a car striking a teenage girl in the ankle after a previous altercation between the two. State Police in an unrelated shooting incident have arrested a 15 year old male Dover juvenile in a shooting which occurred Monday August 9, 2010 around 5:45 p.m.

State Police Detectives responded to 3150 N. DuPont HWY, the Lucky Seven Convenience store after receiving a call about a subject who had been shot. When Troopers arrived they obtained video footage of the events which assisted in piecing together the events.

The 26 year old victim arrived at the convenience store and parked to go inside. Detectives then learned that the 15-year old male suspect pulled into the same convenience store parking lot and parked in the area of the gas pumps. The suspect appears to have walked toward the entrance of the Lucky Seven however returned to his car for an unknown reason. As the victim walked out of the convenience store the suspect returns and appears to get into a verbal discussion with the victim. Moments later shots rang out as the suspect shot the victim approximately 4 times in the upper torso (chest) area. After the shooting the victim fled toward the Lucky Seven and collapsed just inside the store entrance. A convenience store representative then calls 911.

State Police were able to obtain a description of the suspect’s vehicle from the video as being as a black Acura passenger car. State Police through their investigation were able to ascertain a person of interest who has recently been seen in a black Acura and who has recently been involved in disputes with the victim.

Delaware State Police after obtaining additional registration details about the vehicle located it on the 1000 block of White Oak Road city limits of Dover however the 15 year old suspect was not around. The suspect early this morning turned himself into Dover Police Department at which time State Police took custody of the suspect.

The 15 year old male suspect was arrested for Attempted Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited. The suspect was later remanded to the Stevenson House Detention Center on $35,000 cash bail.

The victim was transported from the scene to Kent General Hospital for life threatening wounds and is listed in critical condition.

VOODOO ECONOMICS IS ALIVE & WELL IN SALISBURY

Would you believe that the City Zoo supports (whatever that means) 102 local jobs?

Well, how about $14.5 Million in "Zoo-related tourism" (whatever that means)?

A Letter To The Editor

Letter to the Editor:

"It is 1:42 PM on August 23, 2010 and Hebron Volunteer Fire Chief Bush Beach is at 17121 Crooked Oak Lane requesting the Sheriff's Department to respond to the scene because he has been there several times on ambulance calls for the same thing.

Is David "Bush" Beach, who is a State employee allowed to take fire and ambulance calls when he is on the clock for the state of Maryland? Does the State of Maryland as his employer let him come and go as he pleases? Can someone please verify this?

If he is working today it can easily be verified that he is playing volunteer FARMIN today because his transmission to Wicomico 911 is taped and his request for the Sheriff's Office is time stamped at both agencies. It is understandable that he is on vacation or has a day off, but this happens on a daily basis! Kind of reminds me of that guy from the SHA who used to hide his state truck in the cemetary and spend the day at home."

Mayor Goes Topless In Local Bar

What is it about Salisbury Mayors going public and showing off their breasts?
It must be a democrat thing, eh?

Mike Calpino & Family Completely Out Of Line & Disrespectful Towards Opponent Stevie Prettyman

I have supported Stevie Prettyman with her county council seat for the last 12 years and will continue to do so for the next four years.

I was disgusted and appalled today at her opponent and his supporters behavior when she was called to throw the Chip.
His "family/supporters" were sitting on the top bleacher and booed her as she went forward.
That jerk Calpino turned and smiled at them. This is the same jerk that home schools his kids. Is this the behavior he teaches?
I have attended this event for several years and have never experienced this behavior.
The Farming community doesn't need the likes of him and his stupid family at any events related to Agriculture.

It's Time To Do A Good Deed Folks

Mr. Albero, per our conversation, I am looking for a men's bicycle to give to an employee at The Golden Corral who was mugged Friday evening and had his watch, wallet and bicycle stolen.

His bike was old and it was his only mode of transportation to and from work.

This man is around 50 and doesn't have much. If anyone has a bicycle that they aren't using I will be glad to pay a small amount for it. Nothing fancy, just handlebars and tires.

I can be reached at 410-749-0489 from 1p.m. until 9. Thank in advance for posting this on your site.

Sincerely,
Nanci Whiteley

Editors Note: I'm sure someone reading Salisbury News has a spare bicycle they can donate. I think what Nanci is doing is just wonderful. Thanks for helping out Folks.

Upcoming Tractor Pull Events

John Phoebus Raises Major Money In Fundraiser

While I may be guessing, I'd say this event brought in close to $10,000.00! I'm still awaiting the final numbers, (it could be more)

Fernando Guerrero brought in more money for his autograph than the big names in Professional Football Players with their autographs.

I have to give it to Pete Richardson, this guy worked that auction like I've never seen before. Oh, it was hot alright but Pete was sweating from working the crowd and really did a fantastic job raising money for John's campaign.

This event was held in Crisfield with numerous big names and politicians. The crabs were to die for as well as the catered food by Sysco. I don't care who you are, this guy is going to be tough to keep up with.

Now This Is The Kind Of Business That Sets The Bar For The Rest

We stopped into Chick-fil-A last week and as usual the crowd was huge. We patiently waited in line until it was our turn to order and the Manager came up to us and gave us the above card, apologizing for the long wait.

We thanked them and tried to tell them it was fine but they insisted on making sure we were satisfied. As many of you know, Chick-fil-A is one of the busiest businesses in town with fantastic consistency and very courteous Staff.

So tell me, when is the last time you went into a Fast Food Restaurant and they provided a complimentary slip because of a long wait, or whatever reason?

Main Street Gym Enjoys A Sell Out Crowd

Hal Chernoff and Team Guerrero have proven they can provide, (by far) one of the greatest forms of entertainment here on the Eastern Shore.

They provided seating for some 600 people and every seat was gone. The parking was so unbelievable, even I had to park across the street, there was that many people there.

If you missed the Show, you missed a great time with amateur fights, great food and hours of entertainment.

A special thanks goes out to ALL of the volunteers who made this event possible. More so, the courageous fighters who got into the ring to entertain the crowd. I don't want to forget ALL of the people who made incredible donations to the Main Street Gym Facility. This is a place in which any individual interested in boxing can go and hopefully become the next Fernando Guerrero.

Politicians Tossing The Chip

Local politicians were encouraged to get involved in the Buffalo Chip Throwing Contest. If they haven't had experience in politics yet, now they know what is to come for some.
