MEXICAN CARTELS RECRUITING ASSASSINS AMONG US TEENS, PRISON GANGS, MILITARY

Breitbart News reported in April 2013 on declassified Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) documents that detailed the business relationships between certain U.S. prison gangs and Mexican cartels. At the same time the claim of a secured border falls apart, a disturbing trend has emerged: Mexican cartels recruiting assassins among American teens, prison gangs, and the U.S. military.

The matter should come as no surprise to anyone following the Mexican cartels’ exploitation of the porous and unsecured U.S./Mexico border. Mexican cartels have been sending their own operatives into the U.S. illegally to run operations; they have begun manufacturing their own methamphetamine within American borders; likely cartel victims’ corpses have been dug up from U.S. soil as far north as Oregon; and U.S.-based prison gangs have been found to be operating as domestic foot soldiers and enforcers in the Mexican cartels' U.S. operations.

Hiring 50,000 Military Spouses

50,000 new military spouse hires by 2015. That was the challenge set by the Defense Department and the White House back in 2011. The DoD announces it has met that goal two years early. The challenge is part of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership. More than 180 employers agreed to make a special effort to hire military spouses. The DoD says the newly formed Spouse Ambassador Network helped the department meet its goal.

Cleveland House Of Horrors Where Women Spent Decade In 'Hell' Razed

Standing outside the boarded-up, two-story house where Ariel Castro held her and two other women for a decade, Cleveland kidnapping survivor Michelle Knight released dozens of yellow balloons on Wednesday — as heavy construction equipment began to tear to the ground the house that was her prison.

Knight, wearing a rosary around her neck, said a prayer and hugged representatives from the county prosecutor's office as she was accompanied down the street by a small group of Guardian Angels.

"Nobody was there for me when I was missing, and I want the people to know, including the mothers, that they can have strength, they can have hope, and their child will come back," Knight said.

Obama Wants Mortgage Giants Shut Down

President Barack Obama is putting pressure on Congress to close down mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. With Phoenix as his backdrop, Obama will outline his proposal. There are competing measures in Congress. A bipartisan Senate plan would give Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac five years to wind down operations. It would replace the two with a single federal guarantor. The President has praised the Senate effort. Advisors say he will call for Fannie and Freddie's investment portfolios to shrink by 15 percent a year. He wants the government to step in only after private capital has been exhausted.

CARSON: Success For The Dumbest Kid

These days, it seems like everything is made into a political football. Perhaps the one thing we can agree upon is the importance of education for everyone.

Currently in the United States, approximately 30 percent of the people who enter high school do not graduate. This was considerably less of a problem during the agricultural age or the industrial age, when all one needed to be successful financially was a strong back and a willingness to work. Now that we have advanced to the technological-information age, education has assumed paramount importance for success in one’s own life and for the future of the country. It would not be accurate for us to assume that everyone who graduates from high school in America is well educated. Gone are the days, for the most part, when vigorous academic standards judged the passage from one grade to the next and social promotions were rarely done.

My mother, unfortunately, only had an opportunity to obtain a third-grade education prior to her marriage at age 13 and her move to Detroit with my father. A divorce ensued when she discovered that he was a bigamist, and she was faced with the task of raising two young sons on her own.

Mayor Promises ‘Aggressive’ Reaction To Summer Concerns

OCEAN CITY – Mayor Rick Meehan publically responded to concerns over ongoing outbursts of crime in Ocean City this summer at this week’s Mayor and Council meeting and was subsequently chastised for not taking a leading role in crafting a solution.

Throughout the course of this summer, Ocean City has been in the negative spotlight, including bank robberies, a beach brawl and a Boardwalk gang-related stabbing to a tragic hit-and run involving a child, a shooting and other off-Boardwalk stabbings.

Ocean City resident Rachel Fiorello, who has written several letters to the mayor, came before the council on Monday evening to drive a response from Meehan.

Three Forgotten Facts About the Fort Hood Massacre

Finally. Four years after Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan walked into the Soldier Readiness Processing Center at Fort Hood, Texas, and perpetrated the bloodiest massacre ever on an American military base, the self-confessed jihadist's court martial proceedings began this week. Have you forgotten?

Americans obsessed over the O.J. Simpson, Casey Anthony and Jodi Arias trials. Gun-control lobbyists turned Newtown, Aurora and Tucson into national awareness-raising, fundraising and legislation-promoting campaigns. But where are the celebrity lobbyists and high-profile advocates for the victims of bloodthirsty Muslim vigilante Nidal Hasan?

The White House, which downplayed the terrorist mass murder as "workplace violence," exacerbated national apathy for his evil acts. Our soldiers deserve better. Here are three facts you've probably forgotten — or never knew — about the Fort Hood terror spree

The 16 Most Dangerous Jobs In America

There were 3.5 fatal injuries per 100,000 full-time workers in 2011, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That number is happily very low compared to how bad things used to be, like in 1933 when there were 37 deaths per 100,000 workers.

Still, some professions will always be dangerous. Planes, trains, and boats may crash, people may fall from high places, and heavy equipment may be turn on its operator.

These are the risks taken on every day by many of America's blue collar workers.

Lessons From Thoreau: Reflection, Integrity, Civil Disobedience

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”

Thoreau wrote these words more than 150 years ago after spending more than two years in a small cabin he built by Walden Pond.

What can a simple yet extraordinarily deep man from more than a century ago teach us about our times and us today? Much, it seems to me, after spending time walking in those same woods by Walden last week.

The 1840s was a time of tremendous technological, industrial and communications change (the telegraph was just invented and trains were beginning to spread across the land), immigration was emerging as a major issue (i.e., the Irish were coming here in huge numbers because of the Potato famine) and race concerns were a huge discussion (slavery), libertarianism was rising as a movement, great economic disturbances and income inequality was present, and nature and the environment were on many people’s minds.

Oil Price Is Manipulated By Speculative Traders

"The price of oil is rigged," alleges author and former trader Raymond Learsy.

Prices for most other commodities have dropped and there's a bountiful supply, Learsy writes in an article for The Huffington Post. U.S. commercial crude inventories are near all-time highs, domestic oil production is about a million barrels a day higher than it was last year, weekly gasoline inventory is up substantially and Chinese demand is flat or down.

So why has the price of oil increased 9.5 percent in the last month? Because of manipulation by speculative traders, Learsy argues.

Ron Paul Asks "Why Won't They Tell Us The Truth About NSA Spying?"

In 2001, the Patriot Act opened the door to US government monitoring of Americans without a warrant. It was unconstitutional, but most in Congress over my strong objection were so determined to do something after the attacks of 9/11 that they did not seem to give it too much thought. Civil liberties groups were concerned, and some of us in Congress warned about giving up our liberties even in the post-9/11 panic. But at the time most Americans did not seem too worried about the intrusion.

This complacency has suddenly shifted given recent revelations of the extent of government spying on Americans. Politicians and bureaucrats are faced with serious backlash from Americans outraged that their most personal communications are intercepted and stored. They had been told that only the terrorists would be monitored. In response to this anger, defenders of the program have time and again resorted to spreading lies and distortions. But these untruths are now being exposed very quickly.

The President of the Council says it has documents to prove that supervisors at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Cumberland had intelligence of a credible gang related assault and failed to inform corrections officers about it.

Why The Unemployment Rate Is Irrelevant

The media, the financial markets and investors have become fixated on the unemployment rate, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, particularly since it was directly linked by the Federal Reserve to its current bond buying program. With the latest gyrations in the markets over the last couple of months tied to "will the Fed taper or not" the focus on employment has become much more intense since the Fed has tied its bond buying to a 6.5% full employment target.

The problem for the Fed, the markets and the economy, is that the unemployment rate, in particular the U-3 report, has become completely irrelevant.

In order for an economy to achieve a level of growth that becomes self-supporting, which means it doesn't require $85 billion a month in support to stay out of a recession, there are two primary requirements: 1) full-time employment growth that exceeds population growth, and; 2) a level of employment that absorbs the majority of currently available labor force. When these measures are met the available labor pool is reduced allowing for increases in wages and hours worked as competition for available jobs becomes increasingly more intense. In turn, increased employment leads to higher levels of consumption and stronger economic growth.

Currently, despite the Fed's ongoing monetary interventions, the economy continues to "struggle through" at an anemic pace due to the structural change that has taken place within the employment landscape. The issue for the Fed is the ongoing disconnect between the various employment reports and the real underlying issues with employment.

However, the impact of "labor hoarding"  accounts for the majority of these issues.

I WONDER WHY “1984 DAY” WAS NOT REPORTED BY THE MAINSTREAM CORPORATE MEDIA?

Congress’s Obamacare Waiver

President Obama is buying votes from members of Congress — with stolen money.

America has a two-party system. But it’s not Republicans versus Democrats. It’s the ruling class — Republicans and Democrats — against everyone else. Consider how President Obama just gave Congress its very own Obamacare waiver.

Obamacare includes a provision that should cost each member of Congress and each staffer $5,000 to $11,000 per year. Needless to say, the ruling class was not pleased.

Congress wasn’t about to try to exempt itself from this provision explicitly, though. If John Q. Congressman voted to give himself an Obamacare waiver that his constituents don’t get, he wouldn’t be John Q. Congressman much longer. What’s an aristocrat to do?

The truth about Benghazi, the Associated Press/James Rosen monitoring, the IRS corruption, the NSA octopus, and Fast and Furious is still not exactly known. Almost a year after the attacks on our Benghazi facilities, we are only now learning details ofCIA gun-running, military stand-down orders, aliases of those involved who are still hard to locate, massaged talking points, and the weird jailing of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula.

We still do not quite know why Eric Holder’s Justice Department went after the Associated Press or Fox News’s James Rosen — given that members of the administration were themselves illegally leaking classified information about the Stuxnet virus, the Yemeni double agent, the drone program, and the bin Laden document trove, apparently to further the narrative of an underappreciated Pattonesque commander-in-chief up for reelection.

40% Of US Workers Now Earn Less Than 1968 Minimum Wage

Are American workers paid enough? That is a topic that is endlessly debated all across this great land of ours. Unfortunately, what pretty much everyone can agree on is that American workers are not making as much as they used to after you account for inflation. Back in 1968, the minimum wage in the United States was $1.60 an hour. That sounds very small, but after you account for inflation a very different picture emerges. Using the inflation calculator that the Bureau of Labor Statistics provides, $1.60 in 1968 is equivalent to $10.74 today.

And of course the official government inflation numbers have been heavily manipulated to make inflation look much lower than it actually is, so the number for today should actually be substantially higher than $10.74, but for purposes of this article we will use $10.74. If you were to work a full-time job at $10.74 an hour for a full year (with two weeks off for vacation), you would make about $21,480 for the year.

The Hillary Clinton Conundrum

It is widely assumed that Hillary Clinton is the front-runner for the 2016 Democrat nomination, if not a virtual lock on the candidacy. The only real question is whether Joe Biden puts his boss in a tough spot by launching a doomed campaign to wrestle the nomination away from Hillary. Our “objective” “news” media is already pumping up the Clinton candidacy by scheduling glowing biographies of the new Dear Leader ahead of the election, which takes the concept of media bias to delirious new heights. The chairman of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, fired off letters to the brass at the two networks on Monday, demanding they “cancel this political ad masquerading as an unbiased production,” or else the RNC will freeze them out of the 2016 primary debates.

But if NBC and CNN knuckle under, what will Hillary have left? Even more than the empty suit she aims to succeed, she has no resume of accomplishments at all. She’s never achieved anything at all. She was an unmitigated disaster as Secretary of State, her tenure noted primarily for its relentless efforts to squash investigations into various scandals. She kicked things off by getting the Russian phrase for “reset button” wrong in a boneheaded publicity stunt, and wrapped things up with the deadly debacle of Benghazi. She joined Obama in lying to the American people, and the families of the Benghazi dead, to keep Obama’s “al-Qaeda on the run” campaign narrative alive. And here we are in August 2013, with the State Department on the run from al-Qaeda, as embassies across the world are shut down for a week thanks to elevated “chatter” from terrorist masterminds. Hillary Clinton chattered a lot, too, but it most certainly did not frighten or impress anyone.

Trying To Stay Sane In An Insane World - Part 2

In Part 1 of this article I detailed the insane solutions proposed and executed since 2008 by our owners as they attempt to retain and further expand their ill-gotten wealth, acquired through fraud, deceit, swindles, and the brilliant manipulation and exploitation of the masses through Bernaysian propaganda techniques. Madness has engulfed the entire world, with a concentration of power in the hands of a few psychopathic financial elite wielding an inordinate and dangerous expanse of power over the lives of the common man. They are a modern day version of Al Capone, except their weapons of choice aren’t machine guns, but a printing press, peddling debt, creating derivatives of mass destruction, and peddling heaping doses of disinformation. The contemporary criminal class wears Hermes suits, Rolex watches and diamond studded pinky rings, drops $500 to dine at Masa in NYC, travels by chauffeured limo, lives in $10 million NYC penthouse suites, occupies luxurious corner offices in hundred story glass towers, and spends weekends hobnobbing with the other financial elite at their villas in the Hamptons. They have nothing but utter contempt for the lowly peasants who depend upon a weekly paycheck to make ends meet. Why work when you can steal $1 or $2 billion from farmers with no consequences?

The willfully ignorant masses are kept at bay by the selling them a false dichotomy of Republicans versus Democrats, conservatives versus liberals, and capitalism versus socialism. The ruling class distracts the public with fake wars on poverty, drugs and terror, while using these storylines to further enrich themselves and keep the public alarmed and frightened. We’ve been “fighting” the wars on poverty and drugs for over four decades and poverty is at record levels, while drugs are easier to obtain than candy in a candy store. The war on terror is nothing more than a corporate arms dealer welfare plan. The end of the Cold War put a real crimp in the bottom lines of Lockheed Martin and the rest of the peddlers of death. 9/11 and the subsequent undeclared wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and now Syria, with Iran on the horizon, have been a godsend to the bottom lines of the corporations Eisenhower warned about in 1961. In reality, the politicians are interchangeable and bought off by corporate and special interests. The people are sold a fable, and controlled opposition is the fairy tale. They perpetuate the welfare/warfare state that enriches Wall Street, the military industrial complex, the healthcare service complex, politically connected mega-corporations and the corporate media propaganda complex. The American people are given the illusion of choice by their keepers. The system is rigged. The real decisions are made by unelected secretive men who operate in the shadows and use their wealth to direct the decision making of the politicians, government bureaucrats, and corporate entities that benefit from those decisions. Edward Bernays described a society that existed in the 19th Century, 20th Century, and has now grown to immense proportions in the 21st Century:

Jeff Bezos Buys Washington Post For $250 Million, Gets A Few Add-On Items

Newspapers are dirt cheap these days. If you’ve always dreamed of owning one, it’s time to scoop one up. The headline took a lot of people by surprise: Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, bought the Washington Post. What, like he downloaded it on his Kindle? No, he bought the entire paper from the Washington Post Company for $250 million in cash.
The Washington Post Company plans to rename itself, obviously. In addition to the newspaper, the company also owns the education giant Kaplan, the online magazine Slate, a cable comany, a bunch of local television stations, and a health care company.

Obama Loses Trust Of Middle Class

A Monmouth University poll released late last week was notable for the fact that, like many other polls, it showed President Obama upside down on job approval with registered voters--41% approve to 54% disapprove. A closer look, though, reveals the poll's most startling find: Obama has lost credibility with the middle class. When asked if Obama is sincere about refocusing his presidency on the middle class, only 46% believe it, while a full 50% do not.

Independents are more skeptical than overall voters. A full 54% don't believe the president, while only 42% do.

Fewer Than Half Of Federal Student Loans Currently Being Repaid

studentloandebtbreakdown

It’s scary enough to think that the federal government has around $1 trillion in student loan money out there waiting to be repaid. More frightening is the fact that not even half that amount is currently being paid back.

Earlier today, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ran some numbers on who owes what in student loan debt, and whether these folks are paying it back.

NY Times Admits: Al-Qaeda Terror Threat Used To “Divert Attention” From NSA Uproar

Some analysts and Congressional officials suggested Friday that emphasizing a terrorist threat now was a good way to divert attention from the uproar over the N.S.A.’s data-collection programs, and that if it showed the intercepts had uncovered a possible plot, even better.

Nothing about the above quote should surprise any of my readers, we all know the sick, twisted mindset of those involved in the Military-Industrial-Wall Street complex. What’s more shocking is the fact that these folks so openly admit it to the New York Times, albeit in a typical anonymous and cowardly fashion. Let’s not forget what Robert Shapiro, former Clinton official and Obama supporter told the FT in July 2010:
The bottom line here is that Americans don’t believe in President Obama’s leadership. He has to find some way between now and November of demonstrating that he is a leader who can command confidence and, short of a 9/11 event or an Oklahoma City bombing, I can’t think of how he could do that.

Who Really Has Your Back 8-7-13

Cows Pleased To Hear That World’s First Lab-Grown Burger Has Now Been Served

That gust of air tickling your cheek could very well be the combined relieved exhalations of cows around the world. Why? Because someone has figured out how to grow a burger in a lab and has now cooked it up and served it to discerning members of the media. You’re not home-free yet though, Bessie. Just because it looks like a burger doesn’t mean it’s got the same beefy taste.

It’s taken a few months since we first heard of this scientific effort to grow cells from a cow and turn them into a patty of meat, but the researchers behind the effort have finally unleashed the frankenburger at a news conference in London today, reports the BBC.
