WJZ Channel 13 Baltimore... New Salisbury Zoo Director Resigns Before Starting

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) ―
Salisbury's city administrator says the newly hired Salisbury Zoo director told officials health problems will prevent her from accepting the position.

I just wonder how the MAYOR and PICK are feeling about their abilities now?

The Daily Times Complains About Bloggers & Nasty Comments But Can't Resist Cheap Shots

Zoo director quits before starting Shocked Salisbury officials will return to hiring process after post declined for health reasons

FreeTacos

Or maybe she caught wind of a Delmar whackjob with an axe to grind and didn't want to subject herself to the poisoned environment that embraces such a nutbag.

So once again, are we the Nasty Bloggers or is the Daily Times the one who starts it by allowing such comments?

Another Robert Littleton Response

I know mike personally and he is a good person besides his poor judgement, especially in this situation. It is a tragic event and I send my regards to the Kiviat family.

I was also in that court room, and what has been failed to be mentioned was that mike was an excellent student who graduated high school with nearly all A's. He also received a full ride to SU.

He has a loving family, and an absolutely wonderful girlfriend who has stuck by his side through out all of this. He got involved with the wrong people, and when he gets released from jail, I know for a fact that he has a support system that will help him avoid any other wrongdoing especially to this extent.

Yes, mike made wrong decisions but nothing can change what has happened. From what I understand, Mr. Kiviat was quite an extraordinary man, and it is a shame that his life ended so tragically. Even his wife testified that he was an extremely forgiving man and he would want Mike to serve justice, he would also want him to be forgiven.

The 18 month sentence with the 5 year probation following allows Mike an appropriate amount of time to learn from his mistakes, and also have a second chance at the outstanding life he could lead. I thank all of those who support him, and for those of you who don't, I hope that you will find it in your heart to forgive, since, I am positive that we have all made mistakes that need forgiven.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Still No Answers To Art Goetz Questions About The Zoo

Back on January 2nd, 2008 I wrote an article showing a letter Art Goetz drafted to Ron Alessi referencing the Jaguar at the Zoo and several other questions. He originally wrote his letter back on December 19, 2007. Jim Caldwell has still not responded to his questions and the President of the Zoo Commission, (Ron Alessi) flat out refused to answer any of his questions.

Obviously something serious happened with the Jaguar as the City has refused to say anything to the Press. Art has been a long time taxpayer in the City as well as plenty of time and money donated to the Salisbury Zoo. Dot Goetz volunteered at the Zoo for more than 18 years, (I believe).

So what say you Mayor? What happened to the Jaguar and why won't anyone answer Mr. Goetz' questions?

Dee, Dee, Deeee Of The Week!

Do you know what's wrong with this photo. I'll give you a hint. The Mayor is named after this street. LOL

Westside Fire Department Station 12 Wrecks 2nd Vehicle In Two Weeks!

Well, here it is Folks. Another wrecked Fire Truck. I'm told the other totaled vehicle was a FF's personal vehicle.

I can see it now, THAT ISLAND WASN'T THERE WHEN WE WENT BY THE FIRST TIME, as the Fire Fighters try to explain how they just totalled a $800,000.00 Fire Boat. LOL

You can make all the claims you want about certain people in Hebron drinking on the job. These Fire Fighters don't even need to drink and they're wrecking everything they have. I thought about adding the Salisbury sunken Fire Boat to the Post just to add flavor to it but you know what, this photo says enough.

What will they do when the Fire Station sinks in Salisbury too? Do they have tie down ropes to keep it afloat and upright?

There begs to be another question here. Were these Fire Fighters drug and alcohol tested ON THE SPOT after wrecking these vehicles?

More City Mismanagement?

Ladies & Gentlemen,

In the past, Shanie Shields and Gary Comegys couldn't attend certain and important Council meetings for personal and business reasons. That being said, they asked if certain items on the Agenda could in fact be removed and put back at a later date in order to professionally discuss certain items and their wishes were granted,

When you have extremely important issues on the table such as a C.I.P. (Capitol Improvement Plan) you'd think it would be in the best interest of the Taxpayers that the entire Council is present. Debbie Campbell is on a business trip and Terry Cohen is dealing with her entire Family sick as a dog, so to speak. If you haven't had this most recent vomiting bug, I can tell you, it's NOT pleasant. There are TWO reasons a person can't make it to work and I think everyone knows what those two are.

Nevertheless, YESTERDAY Memo Dirik and Bill Ahtes were too ill to attend what "I" certainly feel was an important meeting and Louise Smith immediately pulled it from the Agenda.

So it's OK to do so for people wanting FREEBIES but it's not OK to do so when Council Members request it? I spoke with Terry Cohen moments ago to see how she and her Family were feeling and sadly they're in a bad way health wise. So I took it upon myself to ask her if she asked that they cancel tonight's meeting and reschedule it and she informed me they refused to do so. She did ask, they just refused to do so.

I know "I" wouldn't run a business like this. Oh, that's right, I'm successful and retired and they're, well, you know, hiring Directors without even checking into their backgrounds and paying Developers reimbursements. Did I forget to mention Bankruptcies, foreclosures and non payment of child support too? These are some fine EXECUTIVES you chose to hire Citizens!

It Looks As If SBYNEWS.COM Did More Homework Than The City Did

"The city was unaware of Tate's health condition, which Pick declined to name, at the time it offered her the $66,400 a year position, he said."

Sooooo, did she LIE on her application?

Does the Daily Times article throw enough twists and turns to make you wonder at the end of the article, did she quit or was she terminated?

SHE WAS TERMINATED and her "statement" I'm confident came right from the Mayor's Office. Now I'm sure the City didn't flat out ask her, have you ever sued you Boss before? She may have stated she had never been hurt or injured, I don't know that.

What I do know is, ONE OF THE TWO ARE LYING! The title alone, "Zoo director quits before starting" clearly SUGGESTS she declined the position. However, look again at the above statement from John Pick.

SBYNEWS.COM exposed her and the City went into Damage Control Mode immediately. You then have to ask yourself, the PUPPETS the Mayor keeps hiring like Pam Oland, Director of Human Resources, Jim Caldwell, Director of Public Works, John Pick, City Administrator AND the Mayor herself ALL screwed up on this one and little old Joe Albero got the goods?

What say you now Anti Albero Bloggers? Yes, I am a better and smarter businessman.

Joe Gibbs Resigns As Redskins Coach

WASHINGTON (AP) - After the toughest season of his Hall of Fame career, one that tested his leadership like never before, Joe Gibbs is stepping down. He resigned as coach and team president of the Washington Redskins on Tuesday, three days after a playoff loss ended an inspirational late-season run that followed the death of safety Sean Taylor.

Maryland Homestead Tax Credit

The Homestead Property Tax Credit, which limits property tax increases on owner-occupied residences, has been automatically granted to Maryland residents since 1977, but under a law passed by the Maryland General Assembly last year, taxpayers now must submit a one-time application to continue receiving the credit. The change was made to prevent taxpayers from using the credit on multiple residences such as vacation homes and rental properties.

Property owners who use the property as their principal residence will receive an assessment notice containing a Homestead Tax Credit Application for the first time this year beginning January 1, 2008. This one-time application must be submitted in order to insure that the credit is granted only on eligible properties and not on properties that are rented or used as vacation homes. The applications can be filed on-line here on the Department’s website or by mailing the paper form in the postage paid envelope included in the assessment notice. Homeowners not reassessed until 2009 or 2010 can wait until then to submit a Homestead Tax Credit application.

An application to continue receiving the Homestead Property Tax Credit is available at https://sdathtc.resiusa.org/homestead.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tax credit conditions

The Homestead Property Tax Credit is available to all property owners on their principal residence as long as the following conditions were met during the previous tax year, according to the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation's Web site:

· The property was not transferred to new ownership.

· There was no change in zoning classification requested by the homeowner resulting in an increased value of the property.

· A substantial change did not occur in the use of the property.

· The previous assessment was not clearly erroneous.

· The owner must have lived in the residence for at least six months of the year, including July 1 of the year for which the credit was applicable, unless the owner temporarily was unable to do so by reason of illness or special care.

Harris Trounces Opponents at Ronald Reagan Dinner Straw Poll

Harris Gets 67% of the over 400 votes cast

Annapolis - Andy Harris won a resounding victory Monday night in a straw poll at a dinner remembering the late President Ronald Reagan. Andy Harris trounced his opponents by receiving 67% of the vote - doubling the combined totals of his two opponents. The dinner with guest speaker Michael Reagan was hosted by the Citizens for Better Government Slate, a new Republican committee established to help elect Republicans in Anne Arundel County.

"Andy Harris is the only person in this race who shares Reagan's values of limited government, personal responsibility, and across-the-board conservatism. It is only appropriate Andy would win the straw poll at an event honoring our greatest president," said Chris Meekins, Campaign Manager for Harris for Congress.

The dinner was held in Anne Arundel County which contains the largest number of Republican primary voters in the entire first congressional district.

"As I travel throughout the district meeting voters, they want a change to genuine conservative leadership," said Andy Harris. "Winning this straw poll epitomizes the support I see from Republicans as I travel throughout the entire district."

Key Facts:
Votes Cast: 400+
Rules: Each individual was given a single ballot to vote for both a presidential candidate and a first congressional district candidate.
Results:
Andy Harris: 67%
E.J. Pipkin: 22%
Wayne Gilchrest: 11%

Public Announcement League Of Women Voters

This is a reminder that that the deadline to register to voter for the February 12th Primary elections is 9:00 PM on January 22, 2008.

Register to Vote Now (if you were born on or before 11/4/1990)!
In a reversal of a new Maryland state policy, 17-year olds who will turn 18 on or before the General Election on November 4, 2008, are eligible to register to vote right now, and to vote in Maryland's Primary Election on February 12, 2008! To vote in February, you must submit your voter-registration application NO LATER THAN January 22, 2008, the date when registration closes in advance of that election.

If you were born on or before November 4, 1990, you are now eligible to vote in February! For most of last year, the Maryland State Board of Elections enforced a new policy that required citizens to be 18 years old by the date of the February Primary Election in order to vote in that election -- contrary to the state's practice over the past 40 years which permitted 17-year olds to vote in Primary Elections if they would be 18 by the date of the succeeding General Election. Thus, you may have heard that you were not eligible to register yet -- but that all changed in mid-December.

Here is a link to the a Voter Registration Application on the the State Board of Election web site:

Record Day Yesterday

Well, not exactly. Let me explain. We have had some killer days in the past but they were what I call, freak days. A freak day to me is when we get National Recognition and the hits soar so out of this world it's unbelievable.

However, when I say above we had a record day yesterday, that means we had a record NORMAL day yesterday. The word is out Ladies & Gentlemen. People are seeing us on vehicles with signs, parades and general discussion everywhere.

I ran into someone from Worcester County yesterday who yelled out his car window, "Are You Joe Albero?" I replied, yes. He said, man, I love your Blog! Too Cool!

We're growing every day and here's the funny part. OK, notice how the Fire Fighters have finally grown up and realized they were acting and looking like Idiots with their comments and they were allegedly going away? Well, even without them my numbers are up 20% and people keep coming back.

I said in another Post the other day while being cocky, it doesn't matter who claims they're not coming back, SBYNEWS.COM is simply out of control, and it is! That being said, THANK YOU! It is truly rewarding knowing people are not only coming back. They're telling friends and we just keep growing each and every day, literally.

Station 12 Wrecks Fire Truck Yesterday

"Everyone in the engine was ok. No injuries to any of the four crew person. Unfortunatly the engine did not fair well with alot of damage. Small roads, big ditches and soft ground make for a bad combo."

Someone added, "Don't forget speeding" as a comment.

My question is, WHY? WTF guys? Where were you headed that you were going so fast you lost control of this HUGE vehicle and wrecked? What was the emergency? I'm told it was an overturned truck?

You did NOT read about it in The Daily Times this morning. However, does that surprise anyone here? Accountability! Ladies & Gentlemen, the problem with the Fire Fighters is, everything was covered up in the past and now it's not. So is Albero a bad guy because my Blog exposes these things? Or am I simply doing what The Daily Times has CONVENIENTLY covered up for many years?

You'll read about it tomorrow buried deep into the paper because their tails are between their legs after reading this. Nevertheless, I want to know why the truck wrecked and wouldn't it be nice to hear a straight up answer like, we were going to fast and couldn't negotiate the turn properly. Let's see what comes of this?

Does The Dept. Of Corrections Have GPS Too?

Speaking of lead foots, yesterday I was driving down the Bypass and let me tell you, this guy was flying! I didn't even notice him coming up on me and that's rare as I always seem to keep a good eye in front and in back of me while driving. Nevertheless, the second photo it with the telephoto lens zoomed all the way in. The Sheriff's Deputies drive this roadway every day and they know it like the back of their hand, so they have a pretty good clue looking at these photos just how fast this guy was flying. My guess, (and I'm pretty damn good at this, just ask the ambulance company) I'd say he was cruising at least 80 MPH.

There are NO LIGHTS whatsoever on this vehicle and they are NOT the law. They would simply fly up on your ass and either force you to move over by intimidation or they'd fly into the right lane and go around vehicles, like they did in the photos above. They flew up on me so fast, (like I said earlier) I didn't even see them till it was too late.

So when you see a vehicle on the road and it has SBYNEWS.COM stickers all over it, expect to get a picture taken by my passenger and plastered all over the Blog.

Oh, It's Safe To Fly!

Although many people may not realize this but years ago I spent most of my time flying across the country and traveling on business. The stories I could tell would scare the hell out of anybody.

Nevertheless, I was south east of Salisbury yesterday and took this shot showing the multitude of airplanes flying overhead. You can't see all of them in this one photo but there were 20 jets flying above while I stood there. Now this isn't Los Angeles California for crying out loud!

I'll never forget living in Ocean City after 9-11 and looking up into the skies and seeing NOTHING for the longest time. Seeing so many planes flying above on the eastern shore at what seems to be around the same altitude, what's the dealio?

Today's Wildlife Photo

Is Going Green Really Worth While?

The other day I couldn't help but take this shot for two reasons. One, to show my Wife that if she ever did this to me I'd probably kill her, (LOL). Secondly, at what price are Americans willing to go through to save money and lower energy usage?

Ladies & Gentlemen, my suggestion to all of you is, start buying black underwear. Not only does it look smaller, it doesn't stain as noticeably. Just remember, SBYNEWS.COM loves to air dirty laundry.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Resiiiiiiign

It was one year ago today Lynn Cathcart put out this statement saying she was not going to run for re-election. She sure does seem to be out and about in all the meetings as if she was considering running for something again?

The Perfect Driving Record

I spoke with my Mother last night and she was somewhat upset because she had been driving down the road and didn't realize it but she was doing 43 mph in a 35. What she didn't realize was that the speed limit had lowered to 35 mph and she was pulled over for speeding.

Mom pretty much knows, that's not a big deal to me as I set the family record in speeding tickets. I love cars, I enjoy what they can and can't do and with all honesty I have a lead foot, period.

Granted, I have slowed way down over the past couple of years and I don't have the interest I used to have with going fast and or what a vehicle is capable of. However, Mom, well, Mom just does the speed limit, always has, always will.

Ultimately, Mom walked away from this violation with a warning and to this day has a perfect driving record after 45 years of being on the road. How about you? What's your driving record like?

I should add, is it me or are your children getting a lot of tickets? Every kid I know right now is getting drilled with tickets and the Police don't ever seem to lighten up on these young kids on provisional licenses?
