O'Malley Loses 26,000 Manufacturing Jobs - Declares October Manufacturing Month

On Friday, Governor Martin O'Malley issued a proclamation declaring October 'Manufacturing Month,' and issued a press release talking about everything he was going to do to turn around manufacturing in the state. O'Malley reasoned, "manufacturing offers one of our greatest opportunities to strengthen our middle class, grow jobs and create new opportunities in Maryland."
"Governor O'Malley finally recognizes - six years too late - the importance of manufacturing to our economy. But we wholeheartedly disagree about the solution," stated Larry Hogan, business leader and Change Maryland Founder. "The O'Malley-Brown plan includes a whole lot of talk - more studies, commissions, roundtables, a monthly blog post, and even a proclamation - but no real solutions for an industry that has lost over 26,000 jobs since 2007, and has lost over 2,000 jobs between July and August of this year."
"The O'Malley-Brown administration has been openly hostile to manufacturing and the private sector in this state since the day they were sworn into office. A monthly blog post isn't going to reverse the troubling downward trend of manufacturing in our state," Hogan said. "In fact, it is an insult to the thousands of middle-class workers and their families who have struggled to find employment and make ends meet because of the O'Malley-Brown misguided policies."
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' State and Area Employment data, Maryland businesses employed 133,200 workers in January 2007. In August 2013, preliminary results indicate manufacturing employment has dropped to just 106,800 jobs - a total drop over 20% in the sector since 2007.
Hogan went in to say, "no amount of lip service can undo this Governor's deplorable record on jobs. 120,000 more Marylanders remain unemployed since O'Malley took office, and 26,000 of those are in our manufacturing sector. It's time we had a governor who will put action behind their words. It’s time to Change Maryland."
Change Maryland founder Larry Hogan is also the founder, President and CEO of the Hogan Companies, leaders in economic development who have brought hundreds of companies and thousands of jobs to Maryland, and have done over $2 billion in business in the state.
Hogan concluded, "This manufacturing proclamation is just the latest stunt by this governor to hide his horrible jobs record. Last month, the governor made a ridiculous claim about recovering 100% of the jobs lost in the recession when in fact 120,000 more Marylanders are out of work today than when he first took office."
Bureau of Labor Statistics research shows Maryland's unemployment rate was 3.6% in April 2007, and nearly doubled to 7% in July 2013.
Change Maryland is the largest and fastest growing citizen organization in the state. The group organized a Business Summit on Improving Maryland's Economic Competitiveness which focused on solutions to the state's serious economic issues, which was attended by federal, state, and local government officials, economists, think tanks, and over 400 Maryland business leaders.

ATF Tries To Block Whistleblowing Agent’s ‘Fast and Furious’ Book

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is blocking the main whistleblower in the Fast and Furious case from publishing a book for pay, claiming his retelling of the Mexico “gun-walking” scandal will hurt morale inside the embattled law enforcement agency, according to documents obtained by The Washington Times.

ATF’s dispute with Special Agent John Dodson is setting up a First Amendment showdown that is poised to bring together liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union and conservatives in Congress who have championed Mr. Dodson’s protection as a whistleblower.

The ACLU is slated to become involved in the case Monday, informing ATF it is representing Mr. Dodson and filing a formal protest to the decision to reject his request to publish the already written book, sources told The Times, speaking only on the condition of anonymity.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Police near Atlanta are investigating an attack on a group of women as they protested on an interstate overpass and carried signs calling for President Barack Obama's impeachment.

The women told police they were demonstrating on the Steve Reynolds Boulevard overpass in Gwinnett County on Saturday, when a man pulled up beside them. They said he pointed a gun at one of them and splashed another with an unknown liquid.

Marge Moore tells WSB Radio that she felt the liquid burning on her foot and thinks it was a household chemical. She says a couple in a car had driven by moments before the incident and threatened to kill them.

No arrests have been made.

Arifa Bibi Stoned To Death In Pakistan For Possessing A Cell Phone

A young mother of two has been put to death in Pakistan for possessing a cell phone.

Arifa Bibi was sentenced to death by stoning by a Pakistani tribal court, and was executed on July 11 at the hands of her family. Her uncle, cousins and other family members threw stones at the woman until she died, all because she had a mobile phone. She was buried in the desert far away from her home village, andaccording to reports, her family was not permitted to be involved in her funeral.

Stoning has been a common sentence in countries like Pakistan for a long time and is used against women and other vulnerable groups. Since the stoning of Arifa Bibi this summer, women’s rights groups have launched an even stronger campaign to put a ban on stoning.

Naureen Shameem, representative for women’s rights group Women Living Under Muslim Laws, says that stoning is used against women in particular as a way to control them.

American Hero

This is a little long as I start six years ago.

At the airport in George town, DE some guys got together and decided to try a combination car show and air show. I was chosen to represent my car club (Wheels That Heal). The name was and is Wings and Wheels. Each year since it has gotten larger and larger. Hundreds of cars and dozens of planes.

One of the men behind the show owns a restored B-25 that he flies to airshows around the east coast representing DAV. Panchito on google.

Last night we had dinner with 40s and 50s show and music to kick off this years W&W show today. The B-25 was nosed into the hanger where this took place.

The guest of honor was Dick Cole.
Never heard of him?? He was co-pilot on the first B-25 launched from the USS Hornet against Japan.
The pilot?? Jimmy Doolittle.
“30 Seconds over Tokyo” ring a bell??
Of the 80 original volunteers only a few remain. Dick is one!! Almost 98 years of age.
When asked what was the greatest memory from the mission he replied “when the chute opened”.

I am honored to have met, talked with, shaken the hand of, and had a picture taken with a True American Hero.
I felt so small standing next to him!!

BTW!! Around the hanger were photos, newspaper articles, etc. about the Doolittle Raid and the B-25.
What an emotional night!!
Yes, it is 0330 and still thinking about the night!!

Most Humbly,
Dave

The amount of miles driven per person in the state fell more than 4 percent between 2005 and 2011.

Forty-five other states also saw a reduction in driving miles, according to the report. Nationally, this is the eighth consecutive year that Americans have driven less.

JW Files Suit On behalf Of Kawa Orthodontics Against Treasury & IRS To Overturn Delay Of Obamacare Employer Mandate

Florida Lawsuit Argues Mandate Delay Exceeds Obama Administration’s Statutory Authority and is Arbitrary, Capricious, Contrary to Law, and Otherwise Unlawful.

Seeks an Injunction Prohibiting Employer Mandate Delay

(Washington, DC)
– Judicial Watch announced today that it has filed a lawsuit on behalf of Dr. Larry Kawa of Kawa Orthodontics against the U.S. Department of Treasury, Secretary of Treasury Jack Lew, the Internal Revenue Service and IRS Acting Director Daniel Werfel challenging the Obama administration’s decision to delay the enactment of the so-called “employer mandate” provision of the Affordable Healthcare Act, also known as Obamacare (Kawa Orthodontics, LLP vs. Jack Lew, et al., (No. 9:13-cv-80990)).

Judicial Watch Weekly Update
The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on behalf of Boca Raton based employer Kawa Orthodontics LLP, argues that the delay of the employer mandate “exceeded [the Obama administration’s] statutory authority, is arbitrary, capricious, and contrary to law, and is otherwise unlawful.”

The employer mandate, which subjects certain large employers to tax penalties if they do not offer “affordable,” “minimum essential” health insurance coverage to their employees, is “one of the pillars” of Obamacare. By law, the mandate was required to take effect January 1, 2014. On July 2, 2013, however, the Obama administration officially postponed the mandate, causing Kawa Orthodontics to lose the value of its substantial efforts to prepare for the controversial provision taking effect beginning next year:

“[Kawa Orthodontics] expended substantial time and resources, including money spent on legal fees and other costs, in preparation for the ‘employer mandate’ taking effect on January 1, 2014….[The company] would not have expended its time and resources and incurred these anticipatory costs in 2013 if the mandate had not been scheduled to take effect until 2015, but instead would have spent its time, resources, and money on other priorities.”

Interesting Perspective

You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal."Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California .

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.
Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table."

Ready? Now pay attention....

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax;
Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.0 0 per year.
Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics and emergency hospitals at a cost of $0.00 per year.
Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps, WIC and welfare.
Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has 9,631 .00.

Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month Federal Rent Subsidy.
Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for car insurance. Some of that is uninsured motorist insurance.
Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.
Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month..

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.
Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same elementary school.
Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches, while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch.
Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program.
Joe Legal's children go home.

Now, when they reach college age, Joe Legal's kids may not get into a State School and may not qualify for scholarships, grants or other tuition help, even though Joehas been paying for State Schools through his taxes, whileJose Illegal's kids "go to the head of the class" because they are a minority.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

Do you get it, now?

If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens...you are part of the problem!

Obamacare Has Troubled Start But Strong Finish Is Likely

Let’s agree Obamacare’s sign-up period is off to a dreadful start. That Uncle Sam and most states botched the IT implementation phase is obvious. They get an “F” in computer science.

Is anyone surprised? How many times in the past has government screwed up technology initiation?

Flawed computer systems that crash often, can’t deliver on their lofty promises and cost billions to patch up are all too common on massive government IT projects (Exhibit One being the IRS).

Maryland’s botched IT approach to health care sign-ups seems especially ripe for criticism.

An Open Letter To President Obama

Dear President Obama,

You strike me as the sort of man who spends a lot of time staring at his own reflection. I wonder, what do you see when you gaze so admiringly at yourself? What image do you find in that mirror of yours? Let me guess: a graceful Greek god with a golden crown, draped in luxurious robes, perched on a giant, magnificent throne atop a mountain in the sky? You see a throng of angels singing your praises and masses of subservient peasants prostrated before you, trembling with fear and awe? You see a man who is more than a man, and a president who transcends the presidency; you see a historic figure of immortal importance?

Yeah, that’s what I thought, and I can’t blame you, Mr. President. By all accounts, you’ve always been an arrogant, haughty narcissist — and that was before you became president. Your supporters and your enemies may argue over whether you descended from heaven on the back of a Pegasus, or were birthed from the bowels of Hell to bring about a Biblical apocalypse, but they both agree on one thing: you are a figure of great significance and immense power. You are either the anti-Christ or the Second Coming, with no room for anything in-between. Surely, this talk might cause even a humble man to slip into a state of vanity and pride, so I can only imagine what it must do to a man such as yourself, already so aloof and so conceited.

Researchers Reveal What's Really In Fast Food Chicken Nuggets

Researchers tried to find out what was in chicken nuggets from two fast food chains, with disconcerting results.
The researchers, from University of Mississippi Medical Center and Baptist Medical Center, both in Jackson, Miss., examined nuggets from two unnamed national fast food chains, according to the study published in the September issue of the American Journal of Medicine

The nugget from the first restaurant "was composed of approximately 50% skeletal muscle, with the remainder composed primarily of fat, with some blood vessels and nerve present," according to lead author Dr. Richard D. deShazo of the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The second nugget contained "40% skeletal muscle," as well as fat, connective tissue, and bone.

OBAMA IS 100% RED, WHITE & BLUE AMERICAN BORN

Many Americans suspect Obama was foreign born. They are wrong. Boy do I have a story to tell you.

I believe Obama is a fraud. But it has nothing to do with his birth. Obama’s critics have it all backwards. They are looking in the wrong place. He isn’t a foreigner portraying himself as an American. He’s an American who fraudulently portrayed himself as a foreigner.

Months ago MSNBC television host Rachel Maddow spent 15 minutes on her national show calling me a “birther.” I scratched my head. Because I’m not. Never have been, not for one minute. A “birther” believes Obama is a foreigner, not legally qualified to be president. I have never believed that.

I’ve always believed that Obama is 100 percent American. There I’ve said it loudly. I’m a leading critic of the President, but I’ve always believed him to be American born. He is as American as P.T. Barnum. And he lies and exaggerates like P.T. Barnum too. While Obama is not a foreigner, he is a fraud. Let me tell you the REAL Obama story.

In hundreds of media interviews, I’ve stated that even though Obama was my college classmate at Columbia University, Class of 1983, and we shared the same majors (Political Science and Pre-Law), I never saw, met, or heard of him. But the media has this story wrong too – I’ve never said that my conclusion is Obama did not go to Columbia. On the contrary, I believe Obama graduated Columbia and we are classmates.

Catholic Priests In Military Face Arrest For Celebrating Mass

The U.S. military has furloughed as many as 50 Catholic chaplains due to the partial suspension of government services, banning them from celebrating weekend Mass. At least one chaplain was told that if he engaged in any ministry activity, he would be subjected to disciplinary action.

“In very practical terms it means Sunday Mass won’t be offered,” Archbishop Timothy Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services told me. “If someone has a baptism scheduled, it won’t be celebrated.”

The Archdiocese for the Military Services tells me the military installations impacted are served by non-active-duty priests who were hired as government contractors. As a result of a shortage of active duty Catholic chaplains, the government hires contract priests.

Former Warlord Named As 'Mentor' Of 9/11 Mastermind To Run For President In Afghanistan

A well-known former Afghan warlord who welcomed Usama bin Laden and Al Qaeda fighters to his training camps in the 1990s and was a mentor to the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks is one of the candidates running to be the country's next president in elections next April.

Abdul Rasoul Sayyaf, 67, registered as a candidate Thursday in Kabul, saying, "I am hopeful that the nation will decide wisely and that their decision will lead to a prosperous future, which will ensure the honor and pride of this nation in this world and the world after."

The next Afghan president will decide whether to allow any U.S. troops to stay in Afghanistan after next year.

President Hamid Karzai by law can't run in the next election.

Pat Buchanan: Obama Shutdown Maneuvers ‘Genuinely Sadistic’

On Sean Hannity’s radio show on Thursday, conservative commentator Pat Buchanan picked up where he left off earlier in the week by criticizing President Barack Obama’s tactics in dealing with the federal government shutdown.

According to the former Nixon and Reagan administration staffer, the president’s acts show that he is motivated by winning a political fight, even if it means resorting to very unpopular means to get at his opposition.

“I think even many of the president’s supporters, at least some of them, will candidly admit he’s among the most partisan presidents we’ve ever had,” Buchanan said. “And the relationship between the Republican House and the Republicans in the Senate and the White House, and the fact he didn’t meet with [Senate Minority Leader Mitch] McConnell for 18 months, I think that president is becoming quite frankly becoming increasingly a savage partisan. What he is doing in this debate and this argument, however, I think is genuinely sadistic.”

The comment about Pat Peterson may be just a little off base. While she may have the power to compose an untruthful editoral and get it printed, apparently she did not have the influence to kill the story on the salaries. Rumors floating down the hollowed halls of the GOB is that Pollitt and Ms Peterson summoned the editor of the Times to his office for a good tongue lashing about doing this story. However they were informed that Salisbury News had already done a story so they had to follow. According to the Times they then had to rely on the freedom of information act to receive the information they needed. Sorry Ricky some things you just can't keep a secret can you.

GEORGETOWN — State officials say Delaware has no place to house two teenage girls charged with kidnapping if their cases are moved to Family Court and they are convicted. One of the girls will be deported back to Mexico if she is found guilty in Superior Court, an immigration attorney says.

Four teens – Jackeline Perez, 16; Junia McDonald, 14; Rondaiges Harper, 18; and Phillip Brewer, 17 – were arrested March 20 for kidnapping, carjacking and conspiracy.

Police say Jackeline and Junia forced 89-year-old Margaret Smith in to the trunk of her own car and left her there without food or water for two days.

Phillip – who pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against Junia and Jackeline – said the girls picked up Harper and himself from Coverdale Crossroads using Smith’s Buick LaSabre, and the four smoked marijuana and stayed in a hotel while the elderly woman remained locked in the trunk.

Climate Change Is Dominated By Water-Cycle, Not Carbon

Climate scientists are obsessed with carbon dioxide. The newly released Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) claims that “radiative forcing” from human-emitted CO2 is the leading driver of climate change. Carbon dioxide is blamed for everything from causing more droughts, floods, and hurricanes, to endangering polar bears and acidifying the oceans. But Earth’s climate is dominated by water, not carbon dioxide.

Earth’s water cycle encompasses the salt water of the oceans, the fresh water of rivers and lakes, and frozen icecaps and glaciers. It includes water flows within and between the oceans, atmosphere, and land, in the form of evaporation, precipitation, storms and weather. The water cycle contains enormous energy flows that shape Earth’s climate, temperature trends, and surface features. Water effects are orders of magnitude larger than the feared effects of carbon dioxide.

PARALYZED COLLEGE STUDENT AND HIS GIRLFRIEND OF SALISBURY RUN MARATHON TO RAISE SUPPORT FOR KENNEDY KRIEGER INSTITUTE AT THE 2013 BALTIMORE RUNNING FESTIVAL

2009 Wicomico High School graduates and Virginia Tech seniors Lindsay Bouchard and James Cook will be competing in the 2013 Baltimore Running Festival Saturday, October 12th to help raise money for the Kennedy Krieger Institute for Spinal Cord Injury in Baltimore, MD. The institute serves 20,000 individuals each year and is internationally recognized for improving the lives of children and adolescents with disorders and injuries of the brain, spinal cord and musculoskeletal system.

James, a former VT Naval ROTC cadet, who in October of 2010 at age 19 was paralyzed in a car accident while being transported with four other Echo Company cadets, will be competing in the full marathon (26 miles) with the use of a hand cycle. This will be James' first race since being in a wheelchair, though he has continued his passion for sports these past three years participating in both wheelchair basketball and wheelchair lacrosse. Lindsay and James, who have been an inseparable couple since meeting as ninth graders at Wicomico High School in Salisbury, MD, trained for the marathon this past summer and are looking forward to the event. Because of the pace differences between James on a hand cycle and Lindsay on foot, Lindsay's running partner over the summer was often James' 2 year old German Shepherd, Tally, who did a great job in helping her maintain a strong and consistent running speed for her half marathon. Lindsay and James are currently seniors at Virginia Tech, he a mechanical engineering major, and she a human development major. James is considering graduate school for the upcoming year while Lindsay plans to enter a Physician's Assistant program.

James visits the Kennedy Krieger Institute for physical therapy several times a year and has seen firsthand the excellent work being done at the institute. "As someone who has spent a great deal of time at Kennedy Krieger since about 2011, I can tell you it's been emotionally uplifting for my family and me to see their compassion and drive as they work with children (and adults.) It gives you a completely different perspective on life and makes you realize anything is possible," says James. As part of the 2013 Kennedy Krieger charity team, he, Lindsay, and the other participants aim to increase the number of Kennedy Krieger patients who are able to participate in the races each year, open the door to improved physical fitness for those with disabilities, and fund research towards a cure for paralysis.

If you would like to sponsor either Lindsay or James or learn more about Kennedy Krieger, visit the Kennedy Krieger Institute's Team Page at http://supportus.kennedykrieger.org/site/TR?fr_id=1120&pg=entry

GOP Waking Up To A New Reality

The media and the DC establishment are abuzz with reports that Senate Republicans recently lashed out at Texas Sen. Ted Cruz over the government shutdown. New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte confronted Cruz with copies of ads run by an outside conservative groups against her over her vote to allow Sen. Harry Reid to gut the ObamaCare defunding provisions of the House-passed Continuing Resolution. She demanded that Cruz explain his "strategy" over the defunding fight.

It would be more interesting to hear Sen. Ayotte's and other Republican Senators' strategy for reversing the government leviathan that is engulfing us. In 1996, the last time the government was forced to shutdown, the total national debt was just over $4 trillion. Today, it is approaching $17 trillion. In the six years that Republicans controlled both chambers of Congress and the White House at the dawn of this century, federal spending growth was double that under the Clinton Administration.

Government Lies About Spying Again and Again … Here’s What’s REALLY Going On

Government Officials Fail Honesty Standards of 12 Year Olds

Government leaders have been caught in lie after lie about spying ... but keep on spouting new lies:

The heads of the intelligence services have repeatedly been caught lying about spying ... again and again and again and again

Security expert Bruce Schneier writes: "This is getting silly ... Now they're just looking shiftier and shiftier." It has gotten so bad that a leading groups concludes: "US Government Fails Honesty Standards of 12 Year Olds". And even liberal publications are forced to conclude that Obama is intentionally lying about spying

Obama says he'll rein in spying ... but his words and deeds indicate that he won't. Indeed, Obama appointed the fox to guard the chicken coop

While the Obama administration is spying on everyone in the country – it is at the same time the most secretive administration ever (background). That’s despite Obama saying he’s running the most transparent administration ever.
