Confederate Flag Doesn't Belong On License Plates

Can a state ban license plates that display the Confederate flag?

A court of appeals in Louisiana recently ruled that the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Board violated a nonprofit organization's free speech rights when it denied the Sons of Confederate Veterans' application for a specialty license plate featuring the Confederate flag.

The court waded into a controversial issue that has roiled the politics of several states. In Georgia, which has offered such plates for more than 10 years, State Sen. Jason Carter, the grandson of President Jimmy Carter, has intimated that if he is elected governor of Georgia, he will not stop the state from issuing license plates featuring the Confederate battle flag. He has said citizens have a right to the Sons of Confederate Veterans-backed license plate, which features a stylized Confederate flag.

The Stock Market Is a Titanic in Search of an Iceberg

What was that sound? Did you feel a little bump?

Nah… don’t worry about it. Go back to your cabin and have a good sleep.

Just when things were going so well! With all that GDP growth! All those new jobs! We were all set to believe that the US economy really had recovered from the shock of 2008.

What does the stock market know that these happy numbers aren’t telling us?

Yesterday, the Dow dropped more than 300 points. Gold fell $14 an ounce. There may be nothing more to this than a case of the jitters.

Or could it be something more?

After 70 Years Apart, Two Brothers Reunite In Chattanooga

Frank Holland isn't a big traveler.

He's 84 years old, and he's not up on all the new regulations. He hasn't really traveled since his wife died in 2006.

But that changed 12 days ago. With the help of an airport-savvy friend, Frank Holland boarded a cross-country flight from California to Atlanta. He rented a car and the pair drove to Chattanooga, to a sleepy old suburb near Hamilton Place mall.

Frank had found his brother.

The brother he hadn't seen since they were school kids. The brother he had tried to find before, but never could. The brother who had lived with him in a children's home for six years until they had been separated. The brother he had been missing for 70 years.

When Frank Holland arrived at the house, his nephew pointed downstairs. Your brother is sleeping, he told Frank.

David Stockman: Don't Buy This Dip: The Fed Is Not Your Friend

Investors should not buy the dip this time because the stock market is flying in the final approaches toward self-destruction, according to David Stockman, former budget chief in the Reagan White House.

In his Contra Corner blog, Stockman said last week’s 2 percent sell-off is likely to be viewed as a chance to simply buy back in by the “well-trained seals and computerized algos which populate the Wall Street casino.”

“But that could be a fatal mistake for one overpowering reason: The radical monetary policy experiment behind this parabolic graph is in the final stages of its appointed path toward self-destruction.”

'Hand of God sent missile into sea'

More claims of divine intervention are being reported in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, with an operator of Israel’s Iron Dome missile-defense system saying he personally witnessed “the hand of God” diverting an incoming rocket out of harm’s way.

Israel Today translated a report from a Hebrew-language news site, which noted the Iron Dome battery failed three times to intercept an incoming rocket headed toward Tel Aviv last week.

The commander recalled: “A missile was fired from Gaza. Iron Dome precisely calculated [its trajectory]. We know where these missiles are going to land down to a radius of 200 meters. This particular missile was going to hit either the Azrieli Towers, the Kirya (Israel’s equivalent of the Pentagon) or [a central Tel Aviv railway station]. Hundreds could have died.

“We fired the first [interceptor]. It missed. Second [interceptor]. It missed. This is very rare. I was in shock. At this point we had just four seconds until the missile lands. We had already notified emergency services to converge on the target location and had warned of a mass-casualty incident.

“Suddenly, Iron Dome (which calculates wind speeds, among other things) shows a major wind coming from the east, a strong wind that … sends the missile into the sea. We were all stunned. I stood up and shouted, ‘There is a God!’

Holder Embraces Being Called An Activist '1000 Percent'

Eric Holder does not shy away from being called an activist – in fact, the U.S. Attorney General considers the label an honor.

“If you want to call me an activist attorney general, I will proudly accept that label,” Holder told journalist Juan Williams in an interview published at The Hill.

“Any attorney general who is not an activist is not doing his or her job,” he continued, adding that “the responsibility of the attorney general is to change things [and] bring us closer to the ideals expressed in our founding documents.”

Asked later about his response to critics who claim that the Justice Department houses an activist civil rights division and an activist chief, Holder said “I agree with you 1000 percent and [I am] proud of it.” (RELATED: Group That Listed ‘Pitfalls Of Working With White People’ Received DOJ Grants)

Holder also said he is troubled by the affirmative action stance of Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, who opposes the policy in maintaining that “the way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.”

Open U.S. Border Being Exploited By 75 Countries – Including Those With Ebola

It’s a simple statement so terribly appropriate for our times: “In a universe of deceit, truth becomes a revolutionary act.” Regarding immigration, we are constantly told we need to be compassionate and are un-American if we do not care about the poor kids seeking to escape crime and violence in their respective countries. However, a leaked report from the US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) shows we are being lied to. It’s not just about children, and it’s not just Central America.

According to an exclusive report from Breitbart.com, “A leaked intelligence analysis from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reveals the numbers of illegal immigrants entering and attempting to enter the U.S. from more than 75 different countries. The report was obtained by a trusted source within the CBP agency who leaked the document and spoke with Breitbart Texas on the condition of anonymity.”

We should all be thankful there are individuals who will keep the American people aware of the threats. And I pray this individual will be safe — especially in this current administration.

UNCONVENTIONAL WARFARE

Children are the latest pawns in Obama's transformation of America

What is President Barack Obama really up to with his shocking border policy?

Despite the disapproval of a vast majority of Americans, he’s singlehandedly negating the nation’s immigration laws and luring hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens to flood into the U.S. across its southern border. Many are minors – kidnapped, robbed, murdered or preyed upon en route by sexual predators, coyotes and drug cartels, with recent reports of astonishing numbers of both boys and girls being raped in transit. Dead bodies of illegal aliens – including young children – are reported washing up along the riverbanks of the Rio Grande.

In addition, teenage members of the ultra-violent MS-13 gang – whose initiation requires them to commit murder, rape or other heinous crime – are being allowed into the U.S. under Obama’s policy, and gangs are then recruiting new members from among the massive influx of unaccompanied immigrant minors. In Texas alone, over the last six years illegal aliens have been convicted of committing 640,000 crimes, including over 3,000 homicides.

Meanwhile, top medical doctors fear an imminent “public health catastrophe,” one publicly predicting a wave of immigrants “coming here with a number of infectious diseases that will spread like wildfire,” and another warning, “A public health crisis, the likes of which I have not seen in my lifetime, is looming.” Overwhelmed emergency rooms, multiple contagious diseases like drug-resistant tuberculosis and fears of school epidemics top their list of concerns.

So why is Obama doing it?

Troopers Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Burglary Suspects

Lincoln, DE - The Delaware State Police is asking the public’s assistance in attempting to identify two male subjects who broke into Wilson's Auction near Lincoln.

Hamas Tunnels Used To Target Israel’s Kindergartens

( Very informative and think about our Southern border )
Multiple media outlets report that Hamas’s offensive tunnel network – now known to have been composed of over forty attack tunnels dug underneath Israel’s border with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip – was set to be activated during the Jewish High Holidays (September 24th) as a mass terror attack.

The attack was meant to generate as many as ten thousand casualties, men, women and particularly children and hundreds of captives. Explosives were particularly placed underneath kindergartens to make certain that these “institutions” would be the first struck, even before any thing else.

The IDF recently published the below map showing that tunnels were created in pairs, to empty out on both sides of nearby communities. The known cost of the infrastructure – each tunnel costs upward of some $1 million – clearly shows that Hamas was planning a coordinated mega-attack. It must be understood that use of even one tunnel would inevitably trigger Israeli retaliation against the entire network.

US judge in Cole bombing case refuses to step down

FORT MEADE, Maryland (AP) -- A newly appointed U.S. military judge refused on Monday to step down from the case of the Guantanamo Bay detainee accused of orchestrating the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen, dismissing defense arguments about possible conflicts stemming from an earlier case.

Air Force Col. Vance Spath said a 2005 case he prosecuted has no bearing on his thinking in the current case.

Defense attorney Richard Kammen spent about two hours Monday quizzing Spath about his views on matters including the 2005 death-penalty case of Senior Airman Andrew P. Witt. Spath was the lead prosecutor in that case, in which Witt was sentenced to death for premeditated murder in the 2004 stabbing deaths of Senior Airman Andrew Schliepsiek and his wife Jamie in Macon, Georgia.

U.S. chicken farmers latest caught in Russia sanction crosshairs

(Reuters) - Russia's threatened ban on U.S. poultry imports, the latest move in a sanctions skirmish over Moscow's support of rebels in Ukraine, has agriculture companies alert to the risks of a conflict that's already roiled trading of crops ranging from soy, beef and fruit to California pistachios.

Moscow has struck back against trade sanctions following the downing of a Malaysian jetliner last month by imposing food restrictions, and would add U.S. chickens to Ukrainian soy and other products Russia has blocked since it seized Crimea earlier this year: Australian beef, Latvian and Lithuanian pork, Moldovan fruit and Ukrainian juice.

Sanderson Farms Inc, the third-largest poultry producer in the U.S., is among American agricultural companies preparing to respond if Russia carries out plans, reported in Russian media this week, to restrict imports of U.S. poultry.

Russia is "using foreign trade as a political football" by threatening to limit poultry imports, Sanderson's Chief Financial Officer Mike Cockrell said. The Mississippi-based company is lining up other buyers for its chicken in case Moscow imposes a ban.

"We'd be crazy not to be making calls to alternative markets right now," he said.

Choom Gang Reunites on Golf Course for Obama's Birthday

In the 1970s, Barry Obama would shout "Interception!" to them as he took a hit off a joint out of turn. This weekend, he shouts "fore!" with the reunited members of the Choom Gang.

The president spends his birthday weekend like so many other weekends of his presidency: playing golf. Mike Ramos, Bobby Titcomb, and Greg Orme--friends from Obama's high school daze in Hawaii--joined the president for a round on the links at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland on Saturday morning. The foursome, according to the Associated Press, teed off with another eight players.

The president turns 53 on Monday.

As Israel exchanges fire with Hamas, a crisis continues to envelope the southern border, and the House of Representatives votes to sue the president for overreach, golf outings increasingly wear thin on the public even if they reinvigorate the president. A websitededicated to documenting presidential rounds of golf marks Obama's count as approaching 200. But Obama hardly stands alone among the other leaders to occupy the White House in finding a respite from the demands of office on the fairways.

Social Security Administration withholds woman's tax return, cites their own 1975 mistake

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - People across the country are still fighting for their income tax returns months after the checks were expected to hit their bank accounts. Some tax returns were seized when the Social Security Administration decided to take back the survivors benefits they overpaid to widows and widowers in the '60's and '70's. In 2008, a single line was eliminated from the Farm Bill which consequently lifted the 10 year statue of limitations on the government collecting old debt. As a result, peoples' children are being held responsible for the government's social security over payments.

When Janis Balusek got her income tax return in the mail, it was significantly lower than what she'd expected.

"Actually $1,035.20 lower that what I expected," says Balusek.

She had no idea why the government would be withholding her own money. After calls to her accountant, the treasury department and the social security administration, she learned it all traced back to checks the government says they gave her family in 1975.

"My father passed away when I was 11, so my mother received social security payments. What she did with the money to help us do whatever.. that's her business," she says.

$7,060,259,674,497.51--Federal Debt Up $7 Trillion Under Obama

(CNSNews.com) - The total federal debt of the U.S. government has now increased more than $7 trillion during the slightly more than five and a half years Barack Obama has been president.

That is more than the debt increased under all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton combined, and it is more debt than was accumulated in the first 227 years of this nation's existence--from 1776 through 2003.

The total federal debt first passed the $7-trillion mark on Jan. 15, 2004, after President George W. Bush had been in office almost three years.

The consensus is that Nixon had committed wrongs that amounted to the “high crimes and misdemeanors” specified in the Constitution for removal from office. There is general agreement among current White House critics that President Obama has not done so, with 2012 vice-presidential nominee Paul Ryan being the latest GOP leader to express that view.

However, President Obama may soon change people’s minds if this fall he unilaterally suspends deportations of illegal aliens or extends work permits to them, using the excuse that Congress hasn’t passed the kind of immigration reform he would like. After all, no less a constitutional expert than Barack Obama told a Univision town hall in 2011: “With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case.”

Founding Fathers rip Obama’s Muslim ‘fabric’

Past leaders take issue with current president's revisionist history

President Obama’s remarks thanking Muslims for “building the very fabric of our nation” and claiming they were in part responsible for “the core of our democracy” have left many in and outside of Washington scratching their heads. But the Founding Fathers would find the comments even more baffling.

Far from incorporating Islam into America’s early tapestry, their own writings reveal the Founding Fathers were at war with the creed and its adherents.

In 1801, President Jefferson sent the Navy to the Barbary Coast to stop Islamic pirates’ reign of terror on U.S. merchant ships. Jefferson read the Quran to understand what was motivating the pirates, and he learned that the Muslim holy book commanded the faithful to “plunder and enslave” non-Muslims.

In 1814, after Tripoli broke its truce and began attacking U.S. ships again, former President John Adams wrote Jefferson a letter advising that Islam’s founder and prophet was “a military fanatic.” In another writing, he condemned Islamic law as “contemptible.”

No Rest for the Wicked

As crises at home and abroad worsen, Obama reverts to his favorite trite form of reassurance.

Tuesday, President Obama visited the Dutch Embassy in Washington, D.C., and wrote in a condolence book for the victims of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, “We will not rest until we are certain that justice is done.”

He then departed for a three-day fundraising trip to the West Coast.

Obama’s pledge that “we will not rest until . . . ” may sound familiar to you. In fact, the pledge is so chronically overused, and issued so casually, that it no longer carries much meaning. Here’s a brief history:

April 9, 2009: “We will not rest until we reach a day when not one single veteran falls into homelessness.”

July 31, 2009: “I will not rest until every American who wants a job can find one.”

September 15, 2009: “I want you all to know, I will not rest until anybody who’s looking for a job can find one — and I’m not talking about just any job, but good jobs that give every American decent wages and decent benefits and a fair shot at the American Dream.”

Pat Buchanan: Obama's Amnesty Would Finish 'Turning America Blue'

President Barack Obama is poised to grant amnesty to 5 million illegal immigrants because he wants to transform the United States into a "multicultural, multilingual, multiethnic, borderless land," Pat Buchanan wrote in a commentary in Townhall.

The move could come in an executive order before Labor Day, judging by the comments of Obama confidante Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, according to Buchanan.

Putting these 5 million on the path to citizenship would send a message to billions of people in Africa, Asia and Latin America that "if you can get into America, by whatever means necessary, and lay low for a while, there is a near certainty you will be able to stay," Buchanan wrote.

Obama — who already used his executive powers to grant amnesty to migrant children brought into the United States illegally by their parents before 2007— has no compunctions about doing with "his pen and his phone" what Congress will not do and is too divided to block, according to Buchanan.

Few Roles For Hispanics In Top Hollywood Movies

A new study shows that less than 5 percent of actors in top Hollywood films are Hispanic, and that Latinas are more likely than women of any other ethnicity to appear partially or totally naked on screen.

The study of the top 100 grossing films in 2013, by the University of Southern California's Annenberg school, found that the make-believe world of movies generally does not reflect what America looks like in real life.

About 74 percent of the actors in the study were white, compared with a U.S. population that's 63 percent non-Hispanic white.

Hispanics, who are 17 percent of the nation but had 4.9 percent of film roles, were the most underrepresented group on screen. That's despite the fact that Hispanics bought about 25 percent of all movie tickets and are more likely than any other group to go to the movies, according to the Motion Picture Association of America.

Lies For Empire

In his provocative cover story “Why Liberalism Means Empire [11]” for The American Conservative, Daniel McCarthy makes a rather astounding claim: that liberalism, or rather laissez faire secular order, needs a state hegemon to be long-lasting. I call this argument astounding because McCarthy often advocates non-intervention in foreign affairs. He’s never one to shy away from damning the bellicose transgressions of the United States government. Yet he, at times, seems to be defending Washington’s vice grip on global affairs, and claims that such mastery is necessary for liberal democracy and the free flow of trade. He writes:

“Liberal imperialism is not directed toward gratuitous conquest but toward maintaining a global environment conducive to liberalism.”

Whether McCarthy’s argument is correct or not will not be addressed here. Rather, the question of intentions behind empire will be examined, as they receive scant attention in McCarthy’s polemic. It’s certainly true that governments are driven by people trying to shower their universal values upon the planet. But is it really the case that the U.S. government is interested in promoting liberal democracy abroad?

Neighbor Arrested in North Carolina School Counselor's Murder

Maggie Daniels, a popular North Carolina school counselor, apparently fought for her life before she was strangled, Newton Police Chief Donald Brown told ABC News today.

Police are also looking at what they believe are "selfie" photos in the suspect's phone that may detail injuries he allegedly suffered as a result of Daniels' efforts to fight him off, an officer told ABC News.

Sharmon Odom, 34, is charged with the murder of Daniels, 31. Odom didn't answer any questions as police took him to jail on Saturday, but had a smirk on his face. Odom, who lived in the same apartment complex as Daniels, appeared in court today.

Democrats, the Constitution and the Rule of Law

Have we arrived at the point in our nation that a Democratic president and powerful members of his administration can act as lawlessly as they choose without any significant objection or protest from the Democratic Party, the liberal media and Democratic voters?

Deny it as they might, liberals seem to have less fealty than conservatives to the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law.

Stop right there, you say. Democrats are no different from Republicans. Both parties are equally guilty.

Well, as much as it pleases some to invoke moral equivalency excuses when caught in wrongdoing, it simply isn't true that Republicans and conservatives are anywhere close to being as culpable as Democrats and liberals in thwarting the Constitution and the rule of law to achieve their ends.

The Cost Of Obamacare

U.S. president Barack Obama‘s socialized medicine plan has cost Americans $1.2 trillion in higher health insurance costs over the last six years. That equates to $6,388 per individual and $18,610 per family over that time period, according to research compiled by America Next – a think tank led by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

“The administration has put forth all sorts of excuses about why its law hasn’t met the expectations the president himself set,” Jindal recently wrote in reference to the group’s report. ”One of them is that the law’s major provisions only took effect in January, so Obamacare needs more time to achieve savings.”

Of course as we noted in this post, Obama created that problem for himself. As a candidate in 2008 he projected annual savings of $2,500 per family by the end of his first term in office … only to close out his first four years with a $2,400 increase in insurance costs.

In other words that campaign promise was about as accurate as Obama’s oft-repeated “if you like your health care plan, you can keep it” promise.

Anyway, with Obamacare’s fate – or at least the fate of the vast majority of its subsidies – headed back to the U.S. Supreme Court, it’s worth taking a look at the impact the law has had on Americans’ health care costs.

Prekindergarten to Become Full Day Program at Chipman, West Salisbury Elementary Schools

Two Wicomico County elementary schools will have full day prekindergarten classes for the new school year thanks to a $4.3 million Maryland prekindergarten expansion initiative announced in late July.

Families will be notified soon that 4-year-old students in prekindergarten classes at Charles H. Chipman Elementary and West Salisbury Elementary will now be attending school all day instead of participating only in a morning or afternoon session.

The Maryland State Department of Education included $280,000 for Wicomico County Public Schools in the recently announced Maryland prekindergarten expansion initiative. The grant will fund materials of instruction for the expanded instructional program, and professional development to help prepare teachers to make effective use of the full day schedule.

IS BARACK OBAMA PLOTTING A COUP?

That seems like an awfully strong word, but it is the term that distinguished law professorGlenn Reynolds, no hysteric, uses to describe the Obama administration’s oft-reported plan to issue executive amnesty to five or six million illegal immigrants in violation of federal law. Glenn’s characterization is a fair one. When a tyrant asserts the right to rule by decree in a state that has formerly been subject to the rule of law, he is commonly described as carrying out a coup d’etat.

That is just what the Obama administration has done, and reportedly will continue to do. When Obama changed the Affordable Care Act by decree–to name just one example, substituting “2014″ for “2013″ in a critical provision of the statute–he acted as a tyrant. In his refusal to enforce the immigration laws, contrary to the Constitution which requires him to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed,” he has acted like a tinpot dictator, asserting the right to change or ignore the law by fiat. If he now directly nullifies Section 274(a) of the Immigration and Nationalities Act by legalizing, and issuing work permits to, five or six million illegal immigrants, thereby repealing federal law by decree, how else can we describe his action but as a coup? The Obama administration openly takes the position that the rule of law no longer applies.

GOP rep says Pelosi ‘visibly shaken’ during dust-up on House floor, defends remarks

A Republican congressman who was confronted on the floor Friday night by House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi over his immigration comments told Fox News that the former speaker was "visibly shaken" during the encounter -- but said he's "not going to put up with this."

Pelosi lashed out at Rep. Tom Marino, R-Pa., after he accused Democrats of neglecting the immigration issue when they controlled the White House and Congress in 2009 and 2010.

She could be seen walking over to him and pointing her finger at him -- he later said Pelosi called him "insignificant."

Speaking to Fox News on Monday, Marino offered additional details.

"She came up to me wagging her finger and saying that I was a liar, a liar, and I simply said, 'No, I do my research -- I have my facts straight, perhaps you should try that,'" he said.

Marino said Pelosi was trying to belittle him.

"I'm a former prosecutor ... and I've been threatened by drug dealers and organized crime and murderers, and this was a walk in the park," he said. "I'm not going to put up with this. I don't talk to people like this."

FBI to hire firm to rate news stories about the agency

The FBI is hiring a contractor to grade news stories about the agency as “positive” “neutral” or “negative,” but the agency won’t say why officials need the information or what they plan to do with it.

FBI officials wouldn’t even reveal how they will go about assigning the grades, which were laid out in a recent contract solicitation. The contract tells potential bidders to “use their judgment” in scoring news coverage as part of a new “daily news briefing” service the agency is seeking as part of a contract that could last up to five years.

November Elections - Wicomico County

Election time is rapidly approaching. Soon the voters will be making a decision on the direction they want the county to go for the next four years (or as in circuit court judge for the next fifteen years). If voters feel that the county is in great shape with good revenue streams, plenty of jobs, good services with roads in great shape and the county department heads are spending the taxpayers dollars wisely then they should vote to keep the current group of county officials in office. If they feel that the county is in the opposite position then perhaps the voters should vote for changes in leadership positions.

One problem facing voters is finding out accurate information about the candidates so that they can make an informed decision. Now here I just want to say that there are those voters who really don't care about informed decisions. Yeah, you know who they are. "The Daffy Duckers". These are the people who would vote for Daffy Duck if he was a Democrat, Republican, Independent etc. Wouldn't it be  much better if people could get above Daffy and vote on issues, records and what the candidate plans on doing to improve the economic conditions for the county?

There are a few ways that voters can find out information about candidates. One is to go to their website  if they have one. Some are interactive and you can ask questions and get answers. You can carefully read the handouts that come in the mail or are handed out by their supporters. Go to "Meets and Greets" and talk with them personally. Invite then to your local party meetings and Central Committee meetings. One of my favorite ways to find out information is through public debates. This is where the candidate and their opponent face each other in a open forum and answer questions from the public. This is a really good way to compare and contrast  the candidates. It would be great to have three or four of these forums before voting day. They could be sponsored by PAC-14, SU, NAACP or Wor-Wic. I'm sure all the candidates would be more than willing to do this not only to get their platform out but get it out for FREE. What a great deal for voters and candidates. So what say you candidates, are you willing to do this for the voters? The voters are waiting for your answer!

Maryland Lawmakers Oppose President's Oil Stance

Eight of Maryland's 10-member congressional delegation are urging President Barack Obama to reconsider siding with a proposal to allow the use of seismic air guns to explore for oil and gas in the Atlantic Ocean.

The lawmakers write that the technology is "incredibly" harmful to marine life. They say Maryland depends on the ocean for seafood and ocean-based tourism.

A letter to Obama was signed by Sens. Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin. Reps. Elijah Cummings, C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, Chris Van Hollen, John Sarbanes, Donna Edwards and John Delaney also signed.

CBS Promotes Democrats Fundraising Off Impeachment, Dismisses Boehner Lawsuit

In the wake of Speaker of the House John Boehner’s impending lawsuit against President Obama, CBS This Morning did their best to dismiss the merits of the lawsuit and instead promote Democratic efforts to raise money off of impeachment talks. On Wednesday, July 30, co-anchor Gayle King introduced a report by Nancy Cordes by hyping how “Democrats are using the lawsuit debate to raise campaign cash and now the White House says it's worried about impeachment.” Video cross-posted here at NewsBusters.

Leaked CBP Report Shows Entire World Exploiting Open US Border

LUBBOCK, Texas — A leaked intelligence analysis from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reveals the exact numbers of illegal immigrants entering and attempting to enter the U.S. from more than 75 different countries. The report was obtained by a trusted source within the CBP agency who leaked the document and spoke with Breitbart Texas on the condition of anonymity. The report is labeled as "Unclassified//For Official Use Only" and indicates that the data should be handled as "Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU)."

The numbers provided are in graphics and are broken down into “OFO” and “OBP.” The Customs and Border Protection agency is divided into the Office of Field Operations (OFO) and the Office of Border Patrol (OBP). The OFO numbers reflect anyone either turning themselves in at official U.S. points of entry, or anyone caught while being smuggled at the points of entry. The OBP numbers reflect anyone being caught or turning themselves in to Border Patrol agents between the points of entry, or anyone caught at interior checkpoints by Border Patrol agents. The “OFO Inadmissible” designation to any individual from a nation other than Mexico or Canada means that U.S. authorities took the individuals into custody. Whether they were deported or given a Notice to Appear is unknown. It is important to note these numbers do not include data from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The unavailable ICE data are in addition to these numbers.

The report reveals the apprehension numbers ranging from 2010 through July 2014. It shows that most of the human smuggling from Syria and Albania into the U.S. comes through Central America. The report also indicates the routes individuals from North Africa and the Middle East take into the European Union, either to illegally migrate there or as a possible stop in their journey to the United States. The data are broken down further into the specific U.S. border sectors where the apprehensions and contact occurred.

Rep. Van Hollen: Legalizing Illegals Will 'Reduce the Deficit'

(CNSNews.com) -- When asked whether legalizing illegal immigrants would help unemployed Americans, Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D.-Md.) responded by pointing to testimony from the director of the Congressional Budget Office that Van Hollen said indicated enactment of the Senate immigration bill (which gave illegal aliens a "path to citizenship') would "reduce the deficit and increase long-term economic growth."

CNSNews.com asked: "Do you think that allowing illegal aliens to stay in the United States and putting them on a path to citizenship will help unemployed Americans?"

Van Hollen responded: “I think what we need to do is pass comprehensive immigration reform, and I just came from a hearing with the non-partisan director of the Congressional Budget Office, who testified that if you passed the Senate bipartisan bill, you will reduce the deficit and increase long-term economic growth in the United States," Van Hollen replied.

CNSNews.com asked Van Hollen the question at the “Witness Wednesdays: Voices of the Unemployed” event on Capitol Hill. The same question was also put to Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Mich.), who objected that the question implied "that we want to encourage illegal immigration."

Kildee responded: "I think we need to have an immigration policy that is welcoming and open. If we're talking about specifically the children who are fleeing their countries because of the risk that they're facing, I think it's a false dichotomy. I think we can be a welcoming nation and also support the people who live here and are struggling."

The 15 US Cities Where Poor Neighborhoods Are Expanding Fastest

Poverty is stuck at record levels in America, and it's spreading in neighborhoods that are already blighted and impoverished, according to a new report from the Brookings Institution.

So-called concentrated poverty spurs high crime rates and can worsen health, schools, and housing conditions, according to Brookings. While poverty was once viewed as an urban problem, more and more of America's poor live in the suburbs.

The Brookings report analyzes the poverty levels in metro areas and their distressed neighborhoods, examining the change between 2000 and the period of 2008-2012, which includes an average from a five-year Census estimate and shows the effect of the recession.

SAUERBREY: Redefining migrants as refugees

Obama stands immigration policy on its head

The United States is the world’s most generous donor country addressing the global refugee problem. Funding for humanitarian assistance and resettlement of the world’s most vulnerable individuals has traditionally had strong bipartisan support in Congress.

We have provided food, water, shelter and medical assistance to millions of Afghans fleeing the Taliban, Burmese escaping the brutal military junta, Iraqis and now Syrians fleeing sectarian violence, Sudanese and Somalis, and countless other victims of horrific war-related violence.

There has been a clear understanding of who qualifies for refugee status and support. The 1951 Refugee Convention clearly spells out that a refugee is someone who “owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality, and is unable to, or owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country.” In 1967, the definition was expanded to include people fleeing the violence of war.

Anthony Brown - The Most Incompetent Man in Maryland, Part 2

The Coming Slump

Governments and central banks have made little or no progress in recovering from the Lehman crisis six years ago. The problem is not helped by dependence on statistics which are downright misleading. This is particularly true of real GDP, comprised of nominal GDP deflated by an estimate of price inflation. First, we must discuss the inflation adjustment.

The idea that there is such a thing as a valid measure of price inflation is only true in an econometrician’s imagination. An index which might be theoretically valid at a single point in time is only subsequently valid in the wholly artificial construction of an unchanging, or “evenly rotating economy”: in other words an economy where everyone who is employed remains in the same employment producing at the same rate, retains the same proportion of cash liquidity, and buys exactly the same things in the same quantities. Furthermore business inventory quantities must also be static. All human choice must be excluded for this condition. Only then can any differences in prices be identified as due to changes in the quantity of money and credit. Besides this fiction, an accurate index cannot then be constructed, because not every economic transaction is reported. Furthermore biases are built into the index, for example to overweight consumer spending relative to capital investment, and to incorporate government activity which is provided to users free of cost or subsidised. Buying art, stockmarket investments or a house are as much economic transactions as buying a loaf of bread, but these activities and many like them are specifically excluded. Worse still, adjustments are often made to conceal price increases in index constituents under one pretext or another.

Economic activities are also only selectively included in GDP, which is supposed to be the total of a country’s transactions over a period of time expressed as a money total. A perfect GDP number would include all economic transactions, and in this case would capture the changes in consumer preferences excluded from a static price index. But there is no way of identifying them to tell the difference between changes due to economic progress and changes due to monetary inflation.
