Patrick Swayze Dies At 57

Patrick Swayze dies at 57
By CHRISTY LEMIRE (AP) – 10 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES
— Patrick Swayze, the hunky actor who danced his way into viewers' hearts with "Dirty Dancing" and then broke them with "Ghost," died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," said a statement released Monday evening by his publicist, Annett Wolf. No other details were given.

Fans of the actor were saddened to learn in March 2008 that Swayze was suffering from a particularly deadly form of cancer.

He had kept working despite the diagnosis, putting together a memoir with his wife and shooting "The Beast," an A&E drama series for which he had already made the pilot. It drew a respectable 1.3 million viewers when the 13 episodes ran in 2009, but A&E said it had reluctantly decided not to renew it for a second season.

Swayze said he opted not to use painkilling drugs while making "The Beast" because they would have taken the edge off his performance. He acknowledged that time might be running out given the grim nature of the disease.

When he first went public with the illness, some reports gave him only weeks to live, but his doctor said his situation was "considerably more optimistic" than that.

"I'd say five years is pretty wishful thinking," Swayze told ABC's Barbara Walters in early 2009. "Two years seems likely if you're going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I'd better get a fire under it."

A three-time Golden Globe nominee, Swayze became a star with his performance as the misunderstood bad-boy Johnny Castle in "Dirty Dancing." As the son of a choreographer who began his career in musical theater, he seemed a natural to play the role

The Liberal Blog Rags On 9-12 Event

The Wet Pants Liberals of Salisbury have posted an article complaining about just how many people attended the 9-12 event, or not. Leave it to the liberals to ignore that such a massive turn out with not a whole lot of pre planning through Tea Parties brought together Americans from all over the United States, (those who could afford it or find the time, that is) to unite in Washington and share their fears and anger over this Obama Administration.

Here's a challenge for that Blogger. If YOU want credibility, why don't you start posting articles using your real name? I mean, for all anyone knows you could be Barrie Tilghman or Alan Webster. You could also be Outraged Richard, a sex offender or even Frank Kratovil.

Rather than being a hypocrite and challenging everyone as to what is right or wrong, start posting articles with your real name, (FULL NAME) and man up for once. You said you'd do so back in December, (or so) why not show everyone you're not just some big mouth who likes to attack anyone who doesn't kiss up to Obama, Jim Ireton or Frank Kratovil.

I mean, who should believe a word you say until you come clean and truly represent your Blog responsibly. Oh, that's right, you're democrats, I forgot. Chuck thinks his is OK because he posts under chuck and not Chuck Cook. Unless you have something to HIDE?

Salisbury News Having Another Smashing Day

We have already smashed last Monday's visits by more than 1,000 hits and it's only 7:00 PM. While this has been one of the slowest days, comment wise, visitors are coming like there's no tomorrow and we welcome each and every one of you.

I've toned down some of the National News to give you more info from the local scene but quite frankly I haven't seen much worth reporting on the National Level in the past several days anyway.

Keep telling your friends and family about Salisbury News. Since things have been somewhat quiet, here's a small update for everyone.

Yesterday we delivered some of the equipment for the new "Salisbury Newsplex Studio." Servers and tower equipment, (I have no clue what all this stuff means) have been delivered and we hope to start piecing things together in the very near future.

Video Monitors and Radio Equipment are also arriving along with backdrops and all the funky stuff necessary to create Radio and Televised News Broadcasts, yet on the Internet instead. LOTS OF WIRING! How these Tech Guys do it is beyond me. All I can tell you is, if something goes down I will be clueless! IMHO, it's far worse than popping the hood of your car and looking to see what might be wrong with the engine.

Anyhow, we're on a roll and the goal is January 1, 2010. We will be the first of our kind on the Eastern Shore, (unless someone else makes the huge investment before us) but one thing is for sure, we'll have what it takes to deliver you LIVE Broadcasts and Commercial Free Broadcasts.

We'll keep you updated as things progress.

Daily Times, (Gannett) Fabricates Story To Sell Papers & Oust Public Official

Back on July 8, 2009 we wrote this story referencing the Daily Times manufacturing a story about Town Commissioner Frank White. We also provided this story on the same date.

We are now providing ALL of the documents PROVING Frank White did absolutely nothing wrong. I have been well aware of Frank's innocents but considering I know Frank personally, I refused to publish anything on this matter until a full investigation was complete.

More than two months have passed and two investigations were conducted on this matter, both of which clear Frank of any and all charges.

A "Concerned Citizens Group" referencing this matter have been determined to go after Mr. White and one of their unofficial members of this group is none other than Liz Holland, reporter for the Daily Times. I contacted Mr. Greg Bassett back on July 8th expressing my concern towards Liz as she has been after Frank White for years. I spoke directly with Liz on the morning of the 8th and I said, so you have someone who claims they saw Frank at Outback several times at Happy Hour, a resident of Princess Anne? She replied, yes. I said, that's funny. A resident of Princess Anne travels all the way to Salisbury on a daily basis and hangs out there at Happy Hour. She hesitated and said, yes. I said, Liz, I'm NOT buying it. Turns out, she was wrong!

Mind you, she may have someone with a bug up their A$$ for Frank White, willing to say whatever it takes to get him out of Office but what everyone tends to forget is how overwhelmingly Frank was voted back into Office. The other issue I had with all of this was the FACT that Frank & his Wife were going through a divorce, what perfect timing for the Daily Times to get the "SCOOP," right? WRONG!

They should have been more careful, especially during these times. Anyhow, I was clearly upset with Mr. Bassett at the time for allowing such fabricated information hitting the headlines day after day and one quick review of the above documents clearly proves Frank White never did anything wrong.

As I had stated in the past. The Credit Card issued to Frank White is the same Card used to purchase ALL of their Office Supplies, Memberships, you name it. Spin this any way you like Daily Times, you owe Frank White a HUGE apology, as well as ALL of your readers. You were wrong, you were aggressive and you failed to tell the truth. $675.00 spent on meals, spread over 25 meetings!!!!!!!! Liz, you made a HUGE mistake.

We have seen this kind of aggressive reporting far too often from the Daily Times, who claims they have to get all these sources to confirm their stories. It's all BS Folks. They're downsizing each and every day. They're short handed and overwhelmed and rather than being the professionals they used to be some years ago, now they'll go after individuals like Frank White, Debbie Campbell, Terry Cohen, whomever they pick and choose at the time, including Jim Ireton when he was running for Mayor.

I am not spinning this story. I figured I'd provide the Official Documents and let them tell the whole story for you. Mark Tilghman is the Town Attorney for Princess Anne and quite frankly one of the most honorable gentlemen I have ever come to know, especially here on the Eastern Shore.

The last document comes from Mrs. Brenda Benton, acting Town Manager for the Town of Princess Anne. Again, they don't come any finer than this wonderful woman who has been with Princess Anne, well, I'm not even going to tell you how many years as she has been there longer than most of you have been alive.

Shame on The Daily Times, a Gannett Publications. Shame on Liz Holland as well as the Managers and Editorial Staff with the Salisbury Daily Times. My only hope is that they come clean, apologize for creating such false information and clear Frank White's name for the record as it's the right thing to do.

No, this isn't the "Good Ol' Boys" Folks. If it were anyone other than Mr. Mark Tilghman I might agree but this guy is as straight up as they come. Full investigations were done. Frank White has been cleared and let me also assure you, (as I stated this to Frank personally) if Frank had done ANYTHING wrong, I would have been all over him like no one else ever has. Frank knows one thing about Joe Albero. DON'T YOU EVER LIE TO ME. I appreciate my friendship with Frank and I'm proud to call him my personal friend. I would also like to publicly thank Frank for the service he has provided for many, many years to the Town of Princess Anne for peanuts.

While tens of thousands of people come to Salisbury News each and every day, my only regret here will be to the few left that buy the Daily Times and do not access us on line, if the Daily Times doesn't retract their original articles, they will not be aware of the fact that Mr. White was cleared. So I'll ask you to spread the word as best as you can. The Daily Times can no longer be trusted as they are desperate to sell papers simply to stay afloat. This goes for Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Cohen for the grief the Daily Times has also caused them over very stupid things like the recent video tape thing. Come on now, it's absolutely stupid.

Who Is The REAL Mayor of Salisbury?

If you voted in last spring’s election, or bothered to watch TV that night, you would swear that Jim Ireton was elected mayor Salisbury.  He was.

But that’s not the question.  What we want to know is - Who is really running the city?  It surely isn’t Ireton.

Ireton’s police chief, Allan Webster, has publicly humiliated Ireton on multiple occasions.  Yet, Ireton continues to support a man who has done just about everything possible to undercut Ireton’s authority.

Violating direct orders.  Attacking the mayor and other elected officials in the press.  I’ve got to give Webster credit.  Either he has stones made of granite, is a first rate imbecile, or …

Perhaps Webster knows that Ireton really isn’t the one running the city.  If not, I’d like to know who really is.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash Closes I-495

Wilmington: Last evening’s fatal crash on I-495 is outlined below.

A 2007 Toyota Camry, operated by Courtney Loftur, 30, of Berlin, New Jersey, was traveling in the center lane of I-495 northbound and was just north of the on-ramp from Edgemoor Road.

A 2008 Kawasaki Ninja, operated by Brian Loubon, of Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, was traveling on I-495 northbound with a pack of motorcycles. This motorcycle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic.

As the Kawasaki was attempting to move from the left lane and towards the right lane, presumably to follow another motorcycle, it rear ended the Toyota. Mr. Loubon was ejected from the bike and slammed into the rear window of the Toyota. He and the bike then tumbled along the roadway until they came to a stop.

Just prior to the crash it should be noted that, the State Police Dispatch Center, RECOM, issued a general radio broadcast advising patrol officers on I-495 to be on the lookout for a group of motorcycles traveling on I-495 southbound at a high rate of speed.

This crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

Breaking News Story Coming Soon

Ladies & Gentlemen: Salisbury News will be breaking a major news story here very soon. We have been on the edge of out seats for weeks waiting for the official documents for this story and they have finally arrived.

So sit tight and be sure to continue to check back in with us today, (well before 5:00). Oh, you're gonna love this story!

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE SALISBURY COUNCIL DOING TONIGHT?

The agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Salisbury City Council indicates that after its regular meeting is adjourned, the Council will hold a work session to discuss the future of PAC 14.

The Daily Times has reported that the PAC 14 meeting will be closed to the public, but that is not stated on the official agenda. What gives?

If the PAC 14 meeting is not closed, will it be shown on PAC 14?

INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW!

CONGESSIONAL CIVILITY

Maintaining Congressional civility is vital to politicians of all sides. They can lie to the American people from the well of the house without fear of being called out. That is why the unforgiveable offense by Joe Wilson in his calling the President a liar is being condemned by both sides of the aisle. The larger issue is.whether the President was lying or not. There is evidence that he did mislead the American people.

The Texas woman he referred to as having been denied coverage, while, on June 16th, testified before congress that she did omit on her application that she had been diagnosed with a precancerous skin condition, that she had an irregular heart beat and incidentally about her weight. In the case of the Illinois man, at the same hearing, his sister testified that he had received the prescribed stem cell transplant within the three to four week window of opportunity.

Then Obama used Blue Cross of Alabama to buttress his claim for the need for reform. Perhaps, Al Gore will present the "Inconvenient truth." Blue Cross of Alabama has 75% not 95% of the business. largely due to the fact that they are ranked second in the nation for customer satisfaction. In Alabama there are no barriers to competition from other insurers. Could it possibly be that Blue Cross in Alabama is simply cheaper?

We then come to the core reason Joe Wilson called Obama a liar. That being, are illegal's entitled to health care benefits? While the debate centers on what is spelled out in the legislation, court rulings are being ignored. To wit, In the state of California the voters passed an initiative (proposition 187) that denied benefits to illegal's. That was overturned by the lower federal courts as unconstitutional. The basis was the equal protection clause of the fourteenth amendment. The Supreme Court, subsequently, denied hearing an appeal thus upholding the lower court ruling.

Would a constitutional law professor be expected to be aware of this? If he were the President, with large staff of advisors be expected to understand the courts ruling? If he knew this and still mislead the people, would that be called lying?

Johnathan Taylor Has Been Charged With A Crime

After numerous attempts to get Johnathan Taylor served for criminal charges, the Salisbury Police Department clearly refused to serve him until the highest ranking individual in the City, (Mayor Ireton) finally laid down the law and demanded Mr. Pick contact the SPD and demand that paperwork be served.

While Johnathan has a buddy/buddy relationship with Chiefy Webster, they made sure there was plenty of delay in the hopes of simply ignoring a criminal summons.

Johnathan has been charged with two counts of harassment and one count of stalking. You can run but you cannot hide. The Commissioners were NOT happy at all with this delay, nor was the States Attorney's Office. However, since it was in fact mentioned in the Peace Order Trial, they were aware of such charges and there's a good chance nothing will be delayed.

Johnathan Taylor was known for his aggressive and abusive behavior towards women on a Blog Site, recently shut down because of so many charges filed against him. A District Court Judge recently granted a Peace Order against him filed by a local citizen who beat Taylor and his attorney from TJ Maloney's Office. The Citizen was NOT represented by an attorney and the evidence against Johnathan Taylor was so overwhelming the Judge felt Mrs. Ennis was in fact in fear for her life and a protective order was set in place to assure her safety.

The following comes from the SPD Calls For Service.

"9/11/09 8:51 PM 2001 Boxwood Dr Criminal Summons Service 200900032168 Clrd By Arrest"

Thank You Mayor Ireton.

A Question For Our Readers

"I've noticed since WBOC went digital that there are many "in and out" moments. When it gets bad I turn to WJZ. Why does the local channel seem to have a bad connection? It happens mostly in the afternoon and evening.

I've also noticed that WBOC will go to a commercial in the middle of a show. For ex. During 60 Mins last night WBOC went to several commercials in the middle of the show. Yes, I know tennis ran a little late which made everything else run late. Maybe it was a scheduled commercial time slot BUT isn't anyone there at WBOC to make sure things like this doesn't happen? I switched to WJZ just to see if it was a mistake, which it was. OR WBOC is as biased as the Daily Times is since this happened during an Obama interview. Before anyone jumps all over me about Obama, he's not what this is about. This is about me trying to watch a local channel and having to switch to another CBS channel due to the many problems WBOC has had since switching to digital.

Is anyone else having this problem with WBOC?"

Tubman State Park Gets $1.2 Million

KRATOVIL, CARDIN, MIKULSKI ANNOUNCE ALMOST $1.2 MILLION NEW FEDERAL FUNDING FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION FACILITIES AT TUBMAN STATE PARK

Washington, DC – U.S.
Senators Benjamin L. Cardin and Barbara A. Mikulski (both D-MD) and U.S. Congressman Frank Kratovil (MD-1) today announced a grant of $1,191,312 from the National Park Service’s Land and Water Conservation Fund to develop outdoor recreation facilities in the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park. The State is anticipating that it will begin site development in December 2010, with completion expected approximately a year later.

The 17-acre site, which honors the Underground Railroad’s most famous conductor, will be part of the first State Park in Dorchester County, providing hiking, walking, biking, a picnic pavilion, and viewing spots for paddling and wildlife viewing. The Park will also provide linkage and enhanced public access to the adjacent Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge.

“Born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Dorchester County, Harriet Tubman left an indelible mark on history as the ‘conductor’ of the Underground Railroad, a suffragist, and humanitarian, yet, the places associated with her life and work are not well known,” said Congressman Kratovil. “Establishing Dorchester County’s first State Park as a way of honoring her contributions to American history is not only a respectful way to honor a woman whose commitment to the rights of others was unmatched, but it serves as a meaningful method of preserving our environment, protecting wildlife, and passing a historical legacy onto our children and future generations.”

“Harriet Tubman is an American icon,” said Senator Cardin, a member of the Environment and Public Works Committee. “This site will enrich all those who come to visit by highlighting her life and preserving the landscapes of her years as a slave and as a leader in the Underground Railroad. Visitors will be able to hike the lands that Tubman walked daily and see for themselves the daunting task she faced in leading escaped slaves to freedom.”

“Harriet Tubman was a courageous fighter who delivered 300 slaves to freedom on her Underground Railroad and was tireless in her commitment to fight for those who could not fight themselves. I am proud to fight for funds in the federal checkbook for this park to honor her memory,” said Senator Mikulski, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. “If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Harriet Tubman knew that, and so do I. Her legacy continues to inspire me and I am proud to fight every day for the freedom and equality she dedicated her life to.”

“We are grateful to the leadership of our Congressional Delegation for securing these funds that will help fill a critical void in recognizing the life, legacy, and courage of a national hero, Harriet Tubman,” said Governor Martin O’Malley. “Dorchester County’s first State Park and the Harriet Tubman Discovery Center will serve as an inspiration to children and their families and stand as a national model for sustainable and environmentally responsible design.”

Earlier this week, Senators Cardin and Mikulski and Congressman Kratovil announced an 823 acre addition to the adjacent Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge that helps make up this important natural and historic landscape.

Mayor Mike McDermott To Run For State Delegate

(September 14, 2009. Pocomoke City, MD) -- Pocomoke City Mayor, Mike McDermott, will formally announce his candidacy for the Maryland State Legislature at an old-fashioned Eastern Shore BBQ in Snow Hill on Saturday, October 3, 2009.

McDermott, a two-term Mayor of Pocomoke City, will run for the position of State Delegate representing District 38B, which includes all of Worcester County and a major section of Wicomico County.

Mayor McDermott stated, "The anticipated announcement that Michael James will face off against Jim Mathias for Senator Lowell Stoltzfus' seat means that there will be an open Delegate seat." The Mayor continued, "I believe that there is a real need in Annapolis for a common sense, Eastern Shore voice. Each year, we sacrifice more freedom, pay more taxes and endure greater governmental control over our daily lives. I am running for State Delegate because I believe we deserve better, and I believe Maryland deserves better."

Mayor McDermott's old-fashioned Eastern Shore BBQ will be at Sturgis Park Pavilion along the Pocomoke River in Snow Hill on Saturday, October 3rd from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a pig roast, pulled chicken and fun for the entire family. More information is available at http://www.electmikemcdermott.com/.

Mike began his political career in Pocomoke City where he witnessed partisan politics block common sense ideas, resulting in high taxes and misplaced priorities. Mike stated "Frankly, our community lacked planning and vision for a better tomorrow." He continued, "In 2004, my friends and family encouraged me to get involved. So I ran for Mayor."

In just five years as Mayor of Pocomoke City, McDermott has overseen a reduction in corporate and residential taxes, increased the number of jobs and cut crime; and at the same time, improved city services. This past June, Pocomoke City was named an “All-American City Finalist.” "I am most proud that all of this was done with the support of the entire community, including Republicans, Independents and Democrats. I would now like to bring this common sense approach to Annapolis," said McDermott.

Prior to becoming Mayor, Mike McDermott managed the family poultry farm in nearby Willards and was the Snow Hill Chief of Police. Mike is currently the Commander of the Investigative Division of the Worcester County Sheriff's Office. He has been recognized on numerous occasions for his management style, heroism and actions taken above and beyond the call of duty.

Mike and his wife, Laura, have been married for 27 years and have two adult children. Their son, Nate, will be commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the US Army next May, and their daughter, Amanda, attends Salisbury University.

Mike enjoys the outdoors, fishing and hunting, as well as landscape projects around the house.

Just a reminder Folks, if you send in a comment with all capital letters, it will be rejected.

It must have been a rough weekend for some democrats as we have been rejecting comments like there's no tomorrow this morning. Stay on topic and more importantly, stop attempting to send in nasty messages. I just can't understand why a select few, (I think you all know who I'm talking about) waste their time writing such comments knowing they're going to be rejected anyway. Can you say, obsession.

I wonder if these guys know for every comment they send in, rejected or not, it drives our Alexa numbers through the roof. In the end the joke is on them.

Fernando Guerrero Brings WBO TITLE FIGHT To Salisbury

In a Press Conference held Sunday, one of the exciting quotes was, "Get there early and don't blink!"

As you can see above, the layout has been set for the Shorebirds Stadium and they couldn't be more excited. Cris Bitters, (General Manager for the Shorebirds) said his phones have been ringing off the hook. The biggest question is, when will tickets go on sale? Well Folks, TODAY tickets go on sale and quite frankly, you better get them early.

Chris also stated he has never seen/heard so much excitement for one single event. This doesn't surprise me because this is a Title Fight. In a phone interview LIVE at this Press Conference, Fernando's opponent sounded very confident and even declined coming to this Press Conference because he'd rather be training as he knows, this fight will rank ONE of these two fighters in the top 10 in the World.

Here's a breakdown of ticket prices. ALL tickets will have a $2.00 service charge.

General Admission Seats will be $18.00 each.
Luxury Level Seats $23.00 each.
Box seats $38.00 each.
Hard Ball Cafe seats $48.00 each.

RING SIDE SEATS GROUND LEVEL

Nanticoke Harbor Marina Receives Governor’s Citation

(Salisbury, MD) On Tuesday, September 15th at 3:30pm, representatives of the Wicomico Recreation, Parks & Tourism department will be presented a citation by Delegates Adelaide Eckhardt and Jeannie Haddaway in recognition of the 2009 Clean Marina Award for Nanticoke Harbor Marina. The presentation will be made at the Winter Place Park Pavilion in Salisbury, MD and will be accepted by Gary Mackes, Director and Rick Konrad, Superintendant of Parks.

Marinas are certified by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as a Maryland Clean Marina after they adopt recommendations in the Maryland Clean Marina Guidebook and pass a site inspection by DNR and industry representatives. Since its establishment in 1997, the Maryland Clean Marina Initiative has certified 130 marinas.

“The Wicomico County Recreation, Parks and Tourism Department is committed to assisting in the efforts to clean up the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and providing our citizens as a safe clean environment to enjoy recreational and commercial boating pursuits,” stated Superintendent of Parks Rick Konrad.

To receive certification a marina must meet its regulatory requirements as well as implement a significant number of recommendations from the Maryland Clean Marina Guidebook in areas such as sewage handling, waste containment and disposal, and marina management. The marinas must meet minimum scores—75 to 80 percent – in each area of the Award Checklist and pass a site inspection.

The Clean Marinas receiving the Governor’s Citation were:

Annapolis City Dock

Annapolis Maryland Capital Yacht Club

Annapolis Yacht Club Sailing Center

Campbell’s Boatyard at Jack’s Point (Oxford)

Clark’s Landing Marine Center (Chester)

Gunpowder Neck Boat Club (Aberdeen Proving Ground MWR)

Mill Creek Marina (Naval Station Annapolis)

Nanticoke Harbor Marina (Nanticoke)

National Harbor Marina (Oxon Hill)

Tradewinds Marina (Baltimore)

West Basin Marina (Patuxent River Naval Air Station)

Yacht Basin Company (Annapolis)

Tough Luck Takes The Grand Prize

Tough Luck pulls away with the big prize, a piling. One of the downfalls to these Boat Docking Contests is when one of the boats comes in too fast and hits a piling. This was the case with Tough Luck this past weekend. The Contest Director will replace the piling for Brew River and fortunately no one was hurt.

Brew River Boat Docking Contest

This had to be the largest crowd I've ever seen at Brew River. Hundreds gathered along the docks to watch what turned out to be a very exciting contest. People even gathered across the river to watch. I'm not sure if it was because they didn't want to pay the cover charge or if it was just too crowded at Brew River to see the event. Either way, everyone had a great time. More to come.....

Catherin's View Of 9/12

There may be some repetition here, but please bear with me. An earlier email with four photos either dropped the photos or didn't go through at all. I'm doing my part to let as many people as I can know what the great march in DC on 9/12 was like.

These are the photos from yesterday's march in Washington DC. I wasn't able to get high enough to adequately photograph the completely filled West Lawn, but I did manage to claw my way up onto a wall to get a couple of good street scenes. Once at the Capitol area, the loudspeakers for the most part carried the speakers' voices to us out by 3rd Street.

News reports of "tens of thousands" are woefully inadequate; the number is more accurately "many hundreds of thousands", perhaps as high as 2 million as reported in British press online.

Let's just say for the sake of my argument that there were 2,000,000 people there. I can think of a dozen like-minded friends and relatives of mine who couldn't be there. If everyone there had their own unduplicated dozen, then there are 24 million of us! That is an astounding number. And there were some local tea parties for supporters who couldn't come.

I am very glad I went -- it was an incredible experience. Despite the fact that no one at the White House would admit to knowing that this march was taking place starting a block away, and that Marine 1 landed and then left with the president who traveled to Minnesota to give a speech about his health care plan, between one and two million Americans -- old, young, native English speakers, accented English speakers -- paid their own way to stand up and be counted. A policeman stationed on Pennsylvania told us that they had severely underestimated how many people would be there. But there were SWAT guys on the roofs of several buildings (that I saw).

The young and very animated Fox reporter who had crossed the country with the Tea Party Express closed an on air news report last night with the observation that this looked like the beginning of a political movement. Pity the parties, because these marchers were not Democrats or Republicans, they were Americans, Americans angry about the ongoing willful deconstruction of the economy and the deliberate dismantling and circumvention of the Constitution, Americans angry about the nefarious stripping of God from public venues and discourse, and the demotion of 9/11 from the equivalent of Pearl Harbor Day to a national service day. And socialized health care, and the deficit, and cash for clunkers, etc., etc., etc.

There were signs throughout the multitudes of people -- large, small, witty, serious -- and state flags for the 45 states represented. It was almost an open air political art exhibit. (Unlike the recently uncovered plot by the National Endowment for the Arts to enlist artists to make art to support presidential policies (Nazi Germany? Mao's China?). Marchers stopped to read and photograph their favorites, or BE photographed with their favorites. You name the issue and there were signs commenting on it.

As people passed the Fox News uplink, they chanted "Thank you Fox!" These were smart, informed people of all ages who had more facts at their fingertips than I think all the 535 senators and legislators put together, judging by legislators' performances at town halls last month. Not for nothing were there lots of signs expressing support for Rep. Joe Wilson.

People were unfailingly helpful and polite. The man next to me on the bus home likened the atmosphere in DC yesterday to the pervasive atmosphere of good will in NYC on July 4th, 1976. My mom and dad had said the same thing (Gary, Andrew, Mercedes and I spent that July 4th in an old hotel in Lybster, Scotland (on the North Sea) singing the Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful and other such songs with a collection of Scots, Brits and one lone Cornishman.)

And "our" property -- the West Lawn around the Reflecting Pool and the Mall -- was left free of litter because people took the time to pick up, unlike inauguration day when the Mall was left shamefully trashed.

So, enjoy the photos and don't believe what you may see in the press. If you have any questions, email me!

A Message To Congressman Frank Kratovil

Mr. Kratovil,

Obama and your fellow democrats insist the new healthcare bill they are proposing will not cover (pay for) abortions. We agree that the word “abortion” might not exist in the bill. However it is possible that the term “reproductive medicine” or another cryptic phrase might, and to some members of our society, “reproductive medicine” includes abortions. In addition, it is possible that support for abortions, in one form or another, might be added to the legislation later. Therefore, we need more assurance that the government in no way will ever support abortions in any way.

It is not enough that the new bill makes no mention of abortions. The bill must contain language that clearly indicates ‘At no time in the future will this healthcare bill or any other government program, state or federal, provide for any funding or any type of support or service for the termination of a pregnancy.’ Mr. Kratovil, will you reject any bill which fails to go this far in protecting our youngest Americans.

In deciding our plans for this upcoming election year, we need a simple “Yes” or “No.”

TODAY’S SALISBURY CITY COUNCIL SHENANIGAN IS ABSURD!

"A closed session is scheduled to begin after 7:30 p.m. for the PAC-14 board to give a report to the City Council. The board has been working to become a 501(c)3 nonprofit before Jan. 1, 2010. Originally a three-pronged organization comprising Salisbury University, the city of Salisbury and Wicomico County, PAC-14 was reorganized last year after the university announced it would cease direct involvement, though it continued to oversee the organization. Board members began leaving after SU pulled out of the agreement, and disagreements ensued after some members accused others of drafting the organization's bylaws in secret. In June, Board President Philip Tilghman said the organization would operate under County Attorney Ed Baker's version of bylaws until new ones could be redrawn."

What possible justification is there not to hold this briefing in a meeting open to the public? More secrecy for those who want to take control of PAC 14, perhaps?

Dr. Krauthammer

Dr. Krauthammer is on Fox News . He is an M.D. and a lawyer and is paralyzed from the neck down. A friend went to hear Charles Krauthammer. He listened with 25 others in a closed room. What he says here, is NOT 2nd-hand but 1st. The ramifications are staggering for us, our children and their children.

Last Monday was a profound evening, Dr. Charles Krauthammer spoke to the Center for the American Experiment. He is a brilliant intellectual, seasoned & articulate. He is forthright and carefulin his analysis, and never resorts to emotions or personal insults. He is NOT a fear monger nor an extremist in his comments and views . He is a fiscal conservative, and has received a Pulitzer Prize for writing. He is a frequent contributor to Fox News and writes weekly for the Washington Post.

The entire room was held spellbound during his talk. I have summarized his comments, as we are living in uncharted waters economically and internationally. Even 2 Dems at my table agreed with everything he said! If you feel like forwarding this to those who are open minded and have not drunk the Kool-Aid, feel free.

Summary of his comments:

1. Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charmingindividual. He is not to be underestimated. He is a cool customer who doesn't show his emotions. It's very hard to know what's behind the mask. The taking down of the Clinton dynasty was an amazing accomplishment. The Clintons still do not understand what hit them.
Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.

2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton . He has a way of making you think he's on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he DOES!

3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to make something out of himself, but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can't be straightforward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along.

He has a heavy hand, and wants to level the playing field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada.

4. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, and NATIONAL HEALTHCARE by the Federal government. He doesn't care about the auto or financial services industries, but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth. Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his healthcare program, because if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type single-payer system, the costs will go through the roof. The only way to control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada . God forbid!

5. He has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one around him has ever even run a candy store.

But they are going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and other industries.
This obviously can't work in the long run. Obama is not a socialist; rather he's a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate, but will govern from the hard left. Again, watch what he does, not what he says.

6. Obama doesn't really see himself as President of the United States, but more as a ruler over the world. He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their
agendas. He sees moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America , as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President ever who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!

7. He is now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill (and pain) will not come due until after he is reelected in 2012. He would like to blame all problems on Bush from the past, and hopefully his successor in the future. He has a huge ego, and Dr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.

8. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge strong. Republicans are pining for another Reagan, but there will never be another like him. Krauthammer believes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl (except for his terrible speech in February) are the future of the party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere and intelligent, but needs to really be seriously boning up on facts and info if she is to be a serious candidate in the future. We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense, and state's rights.

9. The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We are spending trillions that we don't have. This could lead to hyperinflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn't work, nor will the stimulus package. These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama's allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.

10. The election was over in mid-September when Lehman brothers failed, fear and panic swept in, we had an unpopular President, and the war was grinding on indefinitely without a clear outcome. The people are in pain, and the mantra of change caused people to act emotionally. Any Dem would have won this election; it was surprising it was as close as it was.

11. In 2012, if the unemployment rate is over 10%, Republicans will be swept back into power. If it's under 8%, the Dems continue to roll. If it's between 8-10%, it will be a dogfight. It will all be about the economy. I hope this gets you really thinking about what's happening in Washington and Congress. There is a left-wing revolution going on, according to Krauthammer, and he encourages us to keep the faith and join the loyal resistance. The work will be hard, but we're right on most issues and can reclaim our country, before it's far too late..

Do yourself a long term favor, send this to all who will listen to an intelligent assessment of the big picture. All our futures and children's futures depend on our good understanding of what is really going on in DC, and our action pursuant to that understanding!! It really IS up to each of us to take individual action!! Start with educating your friends and neighbors!!!
