Because Salisbury News continues to have record days, our Alexa Ratings continue to drop. As we mentioned before, the closer you get to#1 the better position you're in. Once you get below 100,000 you're considered Major League. It should also be noted that once you do get below 100,000 it's very difficult, (or should I say a slow process) to make headway towards a lower number. Cambridge Fire Department Train Garden
Joe- I am sending along some pictures from the old Cambridge Fire Department's train garden. They set up every year, and admission is non-perishable food items they donate. I must say it's one of the more impressive train gardens I have been to. I am sorry the pictures are dark, they leave the overhead lights off unless Santa is in the house. I highly recommend this event, it's for a good cause and the display is spectacular. Fresh roasted peanuts and fresh popped popcorn are available for $1.00 a bag, and Santa makes appearances!

PRMC's Visitation Policy
Hi Mr. Albero.
I am just wondering if you have heard anything about PRMC's plan to lighten up on their strict modification to their visitation policy for the holiday (at the least)? I understand the policy in regards to no children under 18 on the "sick floors", but the Mother/Baby floor is pretty ridiculous. I am going to be having a c-section sometime during the holiday and am hoping and praying that it doesn't happen in the days surrounding Christmas. I must stay there for 3 days and would not be able to see my daughter (who is 4) during that duration. I am also supposed to pick 2 people (one being my husband) to give arm bands to which are nontransferrable. Therefore, I will only be able to chose 1 other person to come see the new baby. How do I pick between my mother and twin sister, let alone the other grandmother??
I'm sorry I am venting to you, but I am hoping if something was mentioned on your site about it or maybe get a response from PRMC about when this policy would end (it was implemented in October due to the peak of H1N1), there will be enough response from other people like me that maybe these policies can be less strict. The nurse's at PRMC come in and out of the mother/baby ward, bringing in their own germs; why make the families, who have been vaccinated due to the newborn, be punished? It's just sad and really too extreme.
I'm asking you to mention something on your site to help me and other moms-to-be out during one of the most memorable and important moments in our lives.
Chesapeake Waste Cheated Friday Customers
We live on Longridge Road in Parsonsburg and have been customers of Chesapeake Waste for many years. This morning a large group of the Friday Customers were cheated by Chesapeake Waste in Salisbury. They played a cruel and disloyal game on us all. They arrived several hours earlier than they ever have and no one was ready. Not to mention the fact they also started our road in the opposite direction which they have never done. What happened - our trash was left behind.
At our house I can always rely on our trash pick up to happen between 10 AM and 2 PM; on a very rare occasion 7:30 but that is during the hot summer months and it is very rare. But Friday they arrived at 5 minutes of 7:00 AM - drove slowly by my house. I ran out the door trying to catch them and they had stopped two houses down (where there is no trash pick up customer) watched me take my trash to the road and then they pulled away. I know they saw me, they had an open view and then pulled away slow. They never came back to get our trash.
Later yesterday afternoon my husband called the office and the girl who answered the phone knew all about it and said, "Yes, no one on Longridge Road and the surrounding area got pick up because you all should have had your trash out early." then she followed up and said, "We will see you on the 26th."
Now Joe, if you were a trash collector owner and you were planning to collect early - what would you do? Give your customers advance notice - they have done this on occasion in the past too. But the owner must be a crook because they won't honor their service to all of us who were left behind. I could see it if it was one house but not 25+.
We have come to the conclusion that Chesapeake Waste purposely came early with the intention of NO PICK UP to reduce their dumping fee for the day. They were probably having their Christmas party and needed the money for that and if they gave bonuses the savings on the dumping fee would pay for those as well. I almost wonder if this company is not in financial trouble and now the customers are being robbed.

Size Does Matter
Sixty-six percent (66% -- that's two-thirds) of U.S. voters prefer a smaller government with fewer services and lower taxes over a more active government with more services and higher taxes.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 22% prefer a government with more services and higher taxes. Eleven percent (11%) aren't sure which is best.
Eighty-eight percent (88%) of Republicans and 63% of voters not affiliated with either major party like a smaller government better. Democrats are more narrowly divided, but even a majority of them (51%) favor a smaller government-- while 37% opt for a larger, more activist government.
So, the next and most obvious question would be:
Who do these clowns in Washington claim to be representing while they do what they've been doing?
Inquiring minds would certainly like to know...
TROOPERS ARREST MAN ON DRUG CHARGES
On December 18, 2009 at 1530 hours a Trooper from the Salisbury Barrack of the Maryland State Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Mt. Herman Road near Powellville Road in Powellville, Wicomico County Maryland. Through further investigation, a passenger in the vehicle, William Booth Sellers, 29, of Powellville, was arrested and charged with possession of marihuana and paraphernalia. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed additional marihuana. Sellers was taken to WCDC for a hearing before the commissioner.

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer. He simply answered: 'I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams.'
Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations.

State Police Probe Home Invasion Robberies In Sussex County

Residence along the 22000 block of Eskridge Road in Seaford, Delaware
Residence along the unit block of Garden Circle in Georgetown, Delaware
Date of Occurrence:
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009, at 10:06 p.m.
Thursday, December 17th, 2009, at 2:15 a.m.
Suspect(s): Three black male suspects and one white male suspect, all wearing masks, gloves and were armed with handguns.
Resume: In the late evening hours of Wednesday, December 16th, Troopers were called to a residence along Eskridge Road in Seaford for a reported home invasion.
In this first case, three male suspects forced their way into the home. They bound the hands of a 49-year-old man and a 26-year-old man. The suspects then struck the homeowner, the 49-year-old, in the face. The bandits stole Christmas presents from under the tree and a 48” flat screen TV from the living room. Prior to leaving, the suspects also stole the family’s 10-month-old pit bull puppy which was brown and white.
After the suspects fled the scene, the residents freed themselves and drove to a nearby Walmart to call 911. No one required medical attention.
Shortly after midnight, a second home invasion occurred, this time in Georgetown on Garden Circle. In this case, a 56-year-old female awoke to a noise in her home. She walked into her living room to find four suspects standing there. The suspects demanded the victim’s property. At this time, the other two subjects living in the home, a 28-year-old and a 50-year-old male, also woke up.
The suspects assaulted the three residents and stolen various items from within the home including some expensive jewelry. The suspects then fled the scene.
The 28-year-old victim was treated at Beebe Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators are treating these cases as though they are connected. Anyone with information pertaining to this case is asked to call Troop 4 detectives at 302-856-5850 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

CIRCUIT COURT FOR WICOMICO COUNTY PRO SE/SELF HELP CLINIC HOURS
As a result of a decrease in funding, the Circuit Court for Wicomico County Pro Se/Self Help clinic hours must be reduced. Therefore, effective January 1, 2010 the Circuit Court for Wicomico County Pro Se/Self Help Clinic will only be held on Monday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The clinic will not be held during afternoon hours.
