Stocks Stumble Amid Worries About Consumers

Widely watched survey shows consumer sentiment slipping in August

NEW YORK
- The fear on Wall Street is that nervous consumers are going to short-circuit the economic recovery.

Stocks fell sharply Friday after investors were disappointed by media reports that the Reuters/University of Michigan index of consumer sentiment fell significantly short of expectations for the first part of August. That’s a sign consumers may well keep cutting back their spending as they worry about losing their jobs. Consumer spending is crucial for the economy to emerge from recession as it accounts for two-thirds of all U.S. economic activity.

A nice compromise

I like to be the type of person that finds a compromise in a contentious issue.

Well the latest one happens to be health care reform.

Why don't we have each party (Democrat, Republican, and any Independent parties in Congress) draft up a health care reform bill? Then we present them to the voting citizens of the US, without telling anyone which party wrote each one (in order to eliminate bias on all sides). We give it 6 months to a year for the people of the United States to have a chance to read and decide. And then the people vote. Which ever one receives the people's majority wins. And then we reveal which party wrote the bill people want. Just for kicks of course. The health reform bill the people of the US voted for directly, is the one we have, that way the majority wins, and (hopefully) everyone makes an informed decision.

Let's face it folks, Congress has for the most part stop listening to the people who voted them in. In an issue as important and life changing as this one is, we shouldn't go relying on people who don't listen to us to make the decision. The people of the US should directly vote for it, as it is something that affects us deeply.

Now a few other rules. The bill should be no more than 100 pages long. There is no reason for a 1,800 page bill that (I am going to go out on a limb here) the VAST majority of Congress hasn't bothered to read. I think you can cover everything in 100 pages. Maybe 150 tops. The bill needs to be written in plain simple language that anyone with a basic high school education can understand. There should be people ( not from Congress) to explain any part of each bill that someone doesn't understand in the easiest way possible. That way everyone can figure out which works best for them.

Something tells me that if this happened, we would have a voter turnout that would lead to a true majority deciding the path our country is to take. Not a bunch of power hoarders out of touch with their constituents deciding for us.

If this miracle were to occur, even if which ever bill I voted for lost, I would still be pleased with the outcome, because I would know that this is what the majority of the country wants, and that democracy has (finally IMHO) worked.

Just a thought. What do you all think?

Seaford Man Arrested For Indecent Exposure, Lewdness And Disorderly Conduct

Location: Country Living Road, Millsboro, Sussex County, DE
Date of Occurrence: July 28 to 30, 2009
Suspect(s): Vernon H. Holloway, 24, Seaford, Delaware

State Police have arrested a 24 year-old Seaford man for exposing himself to a 17 year-old victim.

Troopers arrested Holloway last evening after they tracked him down to his Seaford home. The investigation started back on July 30th when the father of a 17 year-old boy reported Holloway had stopped his car and got out with no clothing. The victim reported Holloway was exposed his genitalia as the 17 year-old boy was jogging.

The victim was first made aware of Holloway on July 28 when the victim was out jogging in the morning at 6 a.m. Holloway was driving and allegedly pulled over and watched the victim run by. On the 29th, again at 6 o’clock in the morning, Holloway drove by the victim and then pulled over. Holloway allegedly exited his vehicle without any clothing on and exposed his genitalia to the victim as he ran by. Finally on the 30th ,again at 6 a.m., Holloway drove by the victim again. When the victim saw Holloway, he called his father who was able to obtain a tag number after chasing Holloway’s vehicle but was unable to stop it.

Holloway was charged with Indecent Exposure, Lewdness and Disorderly Conduct. He was arraigned and released on $2,000 bail.

Holloway was operating a white Ford Fusion with a Maryland temporary 01855J. Anyone with similar incidents involving this vehicle is asked to contact the State Police at Troop 4 by dialing 302-856-5806 ext 255.

Town Hall Meetings Sway Rep. Kratovil's Opinion On Health Care

A recent article in the Financial Times has made light of the effect that town hall meetings are having on freshman members of Congress. Our own Rep. Frank Kratovil (D-MD01), and Virginia's Rep. Tom Perriello (D-VA) were profiled as members of the Democratic majority who are wavering in support of a government-run health care option due to the public outcry during the August recess. To read the article, CLICK HERE.

AFP-Maryland was very effective in encouraging all of our 1st Congressional District members to attend Rep. Kratovil's town halls to let him know to keep "Government's Hands Off Our Health Care"! Besides the recess meetings that the Congressman scheduled, citizens have been rallying against a government option outside of his local district offices. On Tuesday our partner in the fight for liberty, Campaign for Liberty, helped organize a rally outside of Rep. Kratovil's Bel Air office where more than 250 local residents attended.

All of these public displays of displeasure are truly having an impact on public policy. Yesterday, Gallup released a poll that showed Americans say the protests make them more sympathetic to our cause. Swing voters, particularly registered Independents, agree with that statement by more than a 2-to-1 spread! What we are doing is working, but we need to keep the pressure on the elected officials. Both AFP-Maryland and C4L will be helping to organize more rallies against government-run health care, so please stay tuned...

FDIC Chief: Parts Of Obama Plan Won't Fly

Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chairman Sheila Bair is pushing back against key elements of the Obama administration's financial overhaul plan, saying they wouldn't survive in Congress and calling her own alternatives more viable.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Bair said Congress won't approve two major parts of the package: Expanding the Federal Reserve's authority to regulate the largest financial companies and giving a proposed new consumer protection agency examination and enforcement powers over banks.

Such authority now belongs to her agency and other bank regulators.

"There's a lot of resistance from a lot of different quarters to a lot of the things the administration has submitted," Bair told the AP Thursday. "That is a reality the administration needs to deal with."

‘Squeaky’ Fromme Released From Prison

Manson follower spent decades in prison for trying to shoot President Ford

FORT WORTH, Texas
- The Charles Manson follower convicted of trying to assassinate President Gerald Ford was released Friday from a Texas prison hospital after more than three decades behind bars, a prison official said.

Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme was 26 years old when she pointed a semiautomatic .45- caliber pistol at Ford in September 1975 in Sacramento, Calif. Secret Service agents grabbed her and Ford was unhurt.

Fromme, now 60, left the Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth at about 8 a.m. Friday, spokeswoman Dr. Maria Douglas said in a statement.

Cardin to Constituents – Listen to Me, Not to the Facts

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) has stones, I’ll give him that.  To Cardin, and most other elected Democrats in the Not So Free State, voters are like cattle to be herded to fiscal slaughter.  When faced with voters who have actually bothered to read HR 3200 (the leading ObamaCare bill), or who read newspapers, or who watch TV news we’re “misinformed”.

Is there misinformation out there?  Of course there is.  It’s coming from both the left and the right.  However, it’s Democrat officials who are calling their own constituents “misinformed” or just plain stupid because we won’t allow a government takeover of another 17% of our nation’s economy.  That’s essentially the message from Cardin at yesterday’s meeting in Salisbury.  If you’re against ObamaCare, you’re “misinformed”.

A SFD Comment Worthy Of A Post

"Joe I hope that your house doesn't catch on fire or that you'll need Salisbury's fire Dept.'s help one day. Why must everyone bash the fire dept? Some of you have no idea what these men and women have been through. And most of them are volunteers. So when your sleeping sound in your bed at 3 in the morning. When the pager goes off your not the one responding. Your not the one out in the cold or the heat for hours. Just so that when you finally get home you have an hour before you have to go to work."

While MOST of this is true, I'll keep this for my records just in case one of my properties does catch on fire and it's not taken care of properly. What saddens me the most about a comment like this is the fact that YOU place a CONDITION to the service provided.

I guess if I were to donate a bunch of money I'd be taken care of better than those who oppose fishing trips or hey, let's even mention the $2,000.00 per Station by the Volunteers Funds to pay for Chief See's Retirement Party. All of which they even have the nerve to charge you something like $37.00 per person to get in too!

Let me state this as well. Folks, messages like this come from a very select few. You can probably recognize them in the video. The rest of the Volunteers are in fact great people. That being said, it doesn't matter what ANY of them think, what was done with the money for a fishing trip was, (IMO) wrong. I can guarantee you that a good 95% of the Volunteers would agree with me.

I have heard all sorts of different numbers, 5 to 8 people on the boat. That leaves out more than 100 other Volunteers that former Chief See hated anyway. Your statement above would make a LOT of sense if ALL were treated equally but that is NOT the case. I guess what you're saying is, only a select few Volunteers wake up at 3 AM to provide a service in the hot and cold and that's why this select few were chosen to have a party.

New Democratic Spoils System Launched: $175 Million In "Free" Money Handed Out In Harlem

From http://www.nydailynews.com/...

Democratic power broker and billionaire George Soros kicked in $35 million and the Democrat geniuses in Albany kicked in another $120 million in Federal "stimulus" money for "back to school" expenditures for the Harlem community. The money was disbursed through bank cards enabling recipients to withdraw $200 cash per child. This is the newest Democratic spoils system, "street money" for a core Democratic constituency, black voters in Harlem.

In the grand Jacksonian tradition, "To the victor goes the spoils". Obama and the Democrats won the last national election, and promptly enacted a trillion dollar "stimulus" package to reward themselves and their allies with taxpayer money. Everyone knows the "stimulus" money is funding for the latest Democratic spoils system, courtesy of taxpayers everywhere.

People in Harlem are describing the stimulus money as "free". They understand that "Obama's taking care of" them as loyal Democratic voters. This is their share of the "spoils". Of course, the "stimulus" money will run out in 18 months, and then the cupboard is bare.

In a larger sense, Democrats are repeating their ancient tactic of buying off the minority community in Harlem with "free" goodies. Those of us who have watched New York Democrats for the past fifty years understand this game well. There's a lot of stimulus money left with which to buy voters. This is likely a dry run, the first step in spreading around enough of the "stimulus" to buy Democrats an overwhelming victory in the next election, paid for with taxpayer money.

What's new? The U.S. Treasury is being treated as personal piggy bank of the Democratic Party to a degree unprecedented in U.S. history.

Here's Your $5,000.00 Pissed Away On A Fire Department Luxury Fishing Trip!!!!!

You can thank Pat Davis for this lovely video.

The Salisbury Fire Department, "Help Us Help Ourselves"

While this document starts out saying "Help Us Help You" I beg to differ. From the looks of the way things are run in the SFD, its more like, Help Us Help Ourselves.
"YOUR DONATIONS ARE USED WISELY AND HELP SAVE LIVES."
"DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE YOUR SUPPORT...IT IS VITAL...THANK YOU!"
"AS ALWAYS, "YOUR" ONGOING SUPPORT IS TRULY APPRECIATED THANK YOU!"
The first thing I want to know is, shouldn't this say The Salisbury VOLUNTEER Fire Department? Are they asking for money from citizens above and beyond what they already pay in taxes for the "Salisbury Fire Department"?
After yesterday's massive comments referencing the recently found $5,000.00 luxury Fishing Trip for a select few, are they running this 501 (c) 3 Corporation legally?
Do YOU believe Mayor Ireton should open an immediate investigation on the entire spending habits for ALL of the divisions related to the Salisbury Fire Department?
The way I see it is, if this is one item YOU were not aware of, I would think there are many others along the way as well. The Retirement Party for Chief See is yet another perfect example.
We have already heard from numerous Volunteers being very upset that Deputy Chief Gordy is allegedly forcing the Volunteers to put out thousands of dollars for this Party, yet See couldn't stand Volunteers.
Ultimately, when you receive document like the one above, Citizens are lead to believe their DONATIONS, $100.00, $250.00 or $500.00 would be going towards desperately needed life saving equipment and NOT for a $5,000.00 luxury fishing trip.
I'll close with this. To the few that say you don't have a problem with them using "some" of the funds for things like this, you're absolutely wrong. If they stated they were raising money for the above mentioned interests and then added "some of the money might be used to entertain some of the Firefighters", that's one thing. However, since they did not, IMO, they violated their charter/law.

Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin is the latest Maryland lawmaker to be heckled regarding the Democrat's proposed health care overhaul. The plan's detractors showed extra gusto Monday afternoon, however, arriving some four hours early and chanting in near 100-degree heat before a town hall meeting at Towson University, according to the Baltimore Sun's Paul West and Julie Scharper.

Cardin was shouted down, booed, and hissed at repeatedly according to multiple accounts. Joe Albero of the conservative Salisbury News live-blogged the event and took pictures of the amassing crowd. In related news, Albero writes that a protest is planned today at Rep. Frank Kratovil's Bel Air office. This follows a recent protest outside one of Kratovil's offices that was not well-received, by either liberals or conservatives.

More Health Care Nonsense

By Charles Krauthammer

WASHINGTON
-- In the 48 hours of June 15-16, President Obama lost the health care debate. First, a letter from the Congressional Budget Office to Sen. Edward Kennedy reported that his health committee's reform bill would add $1 trillion in debt over the next decade. Then the CBO reported that the other Senate bill, being written by the Finance Committee, would add $1.6 trillion. The central contradiction of Obamacare was fatally exposed: From his first address to Congress, Obama insisted on the dire need for restructuring the health care system because out-of-control costs were bankrupting the Treasury and wrecking the U.S. economy -- yet the Democrats' plans would make the problem worse.

Accordingly, Democrats have trotted out various tax proposals to close the gap. Obama's idea of limits on charitable and mortgage-interest deductions went nowhere. As did the House's income tax surcharge on millionaires. And Obama dare not tax employer-provided health insurance because of his campaign pledge of no middle-class tax hikes.

Desperation time. What do you do? Sprinkle fairy dust on every health care plan, and present your deus ex machina: prevention.

Free mammograms and diabetes tests and checkups for all, promise Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, writing in USA Today. Prevention, they assure us, will not just make us healthier, it also "will save money."

Obama followed suit in his Tuesday New Hampshire town hall, touting prevention as amazingly dual-purpose: "It saves lives. It also saves money."

Reform proponents repeat this like a mantra. Because it seems so intuitive, it has become conventional wisdom. But like most conventional wisdom, it is wrong. Overall, preventive care increases medical costs.

Bad News: Yet Another Record Month For Foreclosures

For the third time in the last five months a new record for foreclosure filings has been reached says foreclosure tracking firm RealtyTrac. July saw an increase of 7% from June of this year and, even more telling, a 35% increase from last year.

From Reuters:

"July marks the third time in the last five months where we've seen a new record set for foreclosure activity," James J. Saccacio, RealtyTrac's chief executive, said in a statement.

"Despite continued efforts by the federal government and state governments to patch together a safety net for distressed homeowners, we're seeing significant growth in both the initial notices of default and in the bank repossessions."

‘Exploding’ Deficit Plays Into Health Reform

Any legislation needs to rein in federal spending, key lawmakers say

WASHINGTON - With polls showing rising concern over the government's grim financial situation, key Republicans and a growing number of Democrats say it will be hard to push an ambitious health reform bill through Congress unless it reduces projected federal spending on medical care and begins to bring the national debt under control.

"It's not good enough that it's just paid for; it actually has to start driving long-term costs down," said Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), one of nine freshman Democrats who last month urged Senate leaders to pay more attention to controlling federal health spending in this era of "exploding debt and deficits."

Is Shanie Shields That Stupid?

"The (Wicomico River) North Prong continues to divide our city as a visual and economic barrier separating our city," Shields said. This would have been the perfect beginning for cleaning up the Wicomico River."

Upset by a recent veto from Mayor Jim Ireton, Shields said Thursday's inaction on the property acquisition demonstrates a lack of commitment to Salisbury's West Side. (stated in today's Daily Times)

Excuse me Shanie but please explain this one to me. Let's just say the City bought this piece of property. Do you think one of your constituents would be willing to buy it back from the City after is has been improved?

Are you that simple minded that you cannot clearly see that the West Side of Salisbury is the future of Salisbury, in which they are slowly pushing out your constituents, (INCLUDING YOU OUT OF YOUR OWN HOME).

Shanie throwing a fit over something like this clearly shows her ignorance. She should be more concerned with the overgrown weeds and upkeep on other properties on the West Side. Shanie said, "It shouldn't be no where in this city or this county,"

Hey, Shanie, here's a suggestion to you. IF that property is so overgrown with weeds and so forth, why not contact Tom Stevenson and have him WRITE THEM UP???? Fine these people until they finally get it! If they refuse to groom the property, why not have Public Works do it and place a lien against the property. Who knows, maybe you'll end up with it for FREE anyway.

Many have stated that Shanie Shields is getting a special deal on a rental property from one of the local Slumlords and IMHO seems to vote in favor of everything questioning special interests in the City.

Shanie, if your people actually cared, they would have never voted for you in the first place, get a grip. The only person you're concerned about is the former Mayor of Salisbury. You know, the one that still controlls three out of the five City Council Members.

Volt Vs. Prius: What's The Better Deal?

It'll take higher gas prices, or a big subsidy from GM, for the new plug-in Volt to be cheaper to drive than the Toyota. But that doesn't mean it won't find buyers.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com)
-- The Volt may get 230 mpg. GM says it will cost only 40 cents to fuel up the car from a household outlet. But it still may not be worth it to buy one.

So what's the problem? You won't save enough on fuel costs to compensate for the likely higher sticker price.

So before you rush out to get one when the Chevrolet Volt hits dealer showrooms next year, consider your options. It's likely that gas-only or hybrid cars will be the cheaper way to go.

The Volt is designed to go 40 miles on battery power alone. Since most people drive 40 miles or less a day, according to the Transportation Department, most Volt owners wouldn't need a drop of gas for daily driving.

Obama: Doctors Choose Amputation Because Surgeons Get Paid More Than Physicians

Watch the video above and see just how much Obama despises doctors. See how much he lies about them. Medicare pays a surgeon between $500.00 and $700.00 to amputate a leg, NOT $30,000.00 TO $50,000.00. The fee also includes all post op visits. He's either a habitual liar or an imbecile. He's so uninformed that he is bound to destroy not only our health care system but this entire nation.

Cash For Codgers

Democrats, realizing the success of the President's "Cash For Clunkers" rebate program, have revamped a major portion of their National Health Care Plan.

President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Sen. Reed are expected to make this major announcement at a joint news conference later this week. I have obtained an advanced copy of the proposal which is named....

"CASH FOR CODGERS" and it works like this... Couples wishing to access health care funds in order to pay for the delivery of a child will be required to turn in one old person. The amount the government grants them will be fixed according to a sliding scale. Older and more prescription dependent codgers will garner the highest amounts.

Special "Bonuses" will be paid for those submitting codgers in targeted groups, such as smokers, alcohol drinkers, persons 10 pounds over their government prescribed weight, and any member of the Republican Party.

Smaller bonuses will be given for codgers who consume beef, soda, fried foods, potato chips, lattes, whole milk, dairy products, bacon, Brussel sprouts, or Girl Scout Cookies.

All codgers will be rendered totally useless via toxic injection. This will insure that they are not secretly resold or their body parts harvested to keep other codgers in repair.

Bah Humbug Salisbury Zoo Update

Mr. Albero,

While this situation sounds like it needed more tact and customer service in how it was handled, this is still a law on the books that vendors are prohibited from the city park and zoo area. This apparently stems from a situation that arose a few years ago. The city park committee has discussed possibly revisiting the rule. The other rationale was to make sure the park did not become "commercialized."

For my part, I would like to find out what the problems were and see if we can't come up with a way to have a refreshing concession in the park or the zoo as other places have. One concern that would need to be addressed is ensuring trash is not an issue. Many zoos also have "no straws" rules because these are an injury risk for the animals. It would be ideal if we could arrange a concession that would contribute to the upkeep of the park and zoo.

Mayor Ireton,

Could you please look into what happened with staff in this situation and if another approach needs to be employed for if/when it happens again, everyone can walk away feeling it was handled well. As the council's liaison to the City Park Committee, I will be happy to contact Ms. Gray tomorrow to listen to her concerns and to share with her the situation concerning the park rules. Perhaps while the committee revisits the rule, some gentle reminder signage will reduce the risk of repeated occurences.

Mr. Albero,

Thank you for writing to express your concern. It enable the City to look into the matter, to give us an opportunity to put our best foot forward, and to improve experiences for our citizens and local businesses.

Salisbury City Council

Mr. Albero –

I think that the Andy’s Ice Cream case is what is being eluded to from what I read in the paper, etc. (back in the day). More recently, the city has allowed the paddle boats, carriage rides, etc. – so maybe it’s time to take another look. As Councilwoman Cohen said, thank you for making us aware and providing an opportunity to consider whether it’s time for a change.

Paper Rejects Same-Sex Wedding Announcement

Married pair upset after Utah daily says policy is to print only legal unions

SALT LAKE CITY
- A southern Utah newspaper has rejected a gay California couple's wedding announcement, saying its policy is to publish announcements only for marriages legal under Utah law.

The Spectrum in St. George initially accepted a paid wedding announcement for Tyler Barrick and Spencer Jones last week, but then changed course, Jones said. The San Francisco couple were legally married June 17, 2008. They wanted the announcement printed in Jones' hometown paper ahead of a family party next week.

Government Tells ‘Clunkers’ Buyers Not To Sign Waiver

Aug. 13 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation is advising consumers taking advantage of the “Cash for Clunkers” program not to sign contingency agreements promising to pay back up to $4,500 if dealers don’t receive payment from the government.

No contingency agreement is required to participate, the Transportation Department, which administers the $3 billion Car Allowance Rebate System, said on its Web site.

The Minnesota Automobile Dealers Association has a form on its Web site that members can use as part of a new-car closing. By signing the form, the buyer agrees to reimburse the dealership the incentive amount if the dealer is unable to obtain the credit from the government “for any reason.” The consumer can also return the car to the dealership and pay “a reasonable charge” for use of the new vehicle, according to the form.

Consumers signing the agreement also acknowledge their trade-in vehicle may have been destroyed and can’t be returned.

More Referrals From The Baltimore Sun

Salisbury News continues to grow through the MSM. While Newspapers and Television News Media continue to fall victim of downsizing, most have chosen to use quality Blogs as another source to provide news and information to their Customers. We also have an agreement with the Washington Post as well. I told you Daily Times, we're coming on strong, hard and heavy. Besides, I'd rather be connected with these other sources than Gannett any day.

Md. Judge Admits Deflating Tire Over Parking Spot

LA PLATA, Md. – A circuit court judge has acknowledged he deflated a tire on a car parked in a restricted area near his courthouse earlier this week. But he isn't apologizing.

Charles County Judge Robert C. Nalley told station WUSA on Wednesday that he let out the air because leaving notes for those parked illegally isn't effective.

The chief administrative judge for Maryland's 7th Circuit said Nalley told him what he had done on Monday. Judge William D. Missouri suggested to The Washington Post that Nalley might be sanctioned.

The owner of the car, Jean Washington, works part-time at the courthouse in La Plata as part of a cleaning crew and said she didn't know she couldn't park in the restricted area. She said she never received any warnings.

Police are investigating the incident.

Pharmacist

A respectable lady went into the pharmacy, walked up to the pharmacist, looked straight into his eyes, and said, 'I would like to buy some cyanide'

The pharmacist asked, 'Why in the world do you need cyanide?'

The lady replied, 'I need it to poison my husband.'

The pharmacist's eyes got big and he exclaimed, 'Lord have mercy! I can't give you cyanide to kill your husband. That's against the law! I'll lose my license! They'll throw both of us in jail! All kinds of bad things will happen. Absolutely not! You CANNOT have any cyanide!'

The lady reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist's wife.

The pharmacist looked at the picture and replied, 'Well now, that's different. You didn't tell me you had a prescription.

MOSCOW

Obama Takes Message To Reliably GOP Areas

He travels to Mountain West, mixing town halls with visits to national parks

DENVER
- Perhaps no region of the country better illustrates Barack Obama's political vulnerabilities than the mountain West, a region traditionally wary of the federal government.

He's hoping to ease some of those concerns in a Western swing blending town hall appearances and visits to national parks beginning Friday.

A Different Kind Of Credit-Card Company

With a new federal credit-card law coming, PartnersFirst's model of no fees, steady rates, and reduced risk may point toward the industry's future

The Service Employees International Union has frequently blasted credit-card issuers over the years for abusive lending practices. When the SEIU started searching for a firm to create a branded card for its 2 million members, union leaders demanded fewer fees and less onerous penalties. "We wanted a card that was more consumer-friendly," says Jeremy Smith, a deputy director at the SEIU. "[Most] card companies wouldn't consider our proposal."

Hal Erskine, the founder and president of PartnersFirst, did. In April his Wilmington (Del.) financial firm introduced an SEIU credit card that met the union's tough standards. The card, which has an average interest rate of 16%, doesn't levy annual fees or impose late-payment charges. And PartnersFirst won't hike rates or change terms without the SEIU's permission.
