BREAKING NEWS IN SOMERSET COUNTY
Sam's background was reportedly with the telephone company, where he pulled wire! The County Manager supervises a rather large organization whose budget is over $50 million!, so in essence, Sam was "appointed" to run a $50 million dollar business with a background of what?? It's the "GOOD OLD BOY NETWORK" on display in Somerset County once again. Sam's Commissioner slot will then have to be back filled, wonder what further pearls of wisdom will result from that selection?
Some Cases Are Better Off In Circuit Court
While I can understand why many of you would be confused, (especially with the Daily Times lack of reporting) as to why this case would be dropped. The best answer I can give you, (after speaking to the States Attorneys Office) is to try the case in Circuit Court. The case was being tried in District Court today and the strategy was wrong.
So relax, don't go on the warpath on this particular case. I'm confident Mr. Cox will soon see his day in Court. Some will understand where I'm going with this but many will not. You'll just have to take my word on it that justice will be served. It just not going to be today.

Captain Obama ... Is It Time For A Black Comic Book Superhero?
Barack Obama has appeared in at least two comic series since his arrival on the national stage.
Back in September the superhero Savage Dragon took it upon himself to endorse Obama for president, and days before his inauguration, Spider-Man saved the day for the 44th president by defeating an Obama imposter.

Less Girl Scout Cookies In A Box This Year
The Girls Scouts have announced that because of the economy, fewer cookies will be packaged into boxes of Thin Mints, Do-si-dos, and Tagalongs. It gets worse. The Lemon Chalet Creme cookies are getting smaller, too.
Perhaps they can give out a cheapskate patch to boot. GO HERE to see what cookies are available this year.
"Breastaurants" A Recession Proof Business
Geoff Williams
Jan 26th 2009
Hooters is finally seeing some competition.
Turns out some restaurant entrepreneurs are realizing that what Hooters has on offer (good food, served by pretty, buxom young women), is a recipe for success, even in the current economic environment. Restaurants like Twin Peaks and Bone Daddy's, both of whom only hire women to serve food, are opening new restaurants and growing in an otherwise, er, flat market.
I wouldn't know this because I'm married, and of course, haven't any opinions on this, but these are women who are apparently, upon sight, able to make grown men drool and stammer like cavemen. And order lots and lots of meat-based entrees to wash their beer down with, apparently.
These restaurants -- that feature scantily-clad waitresses -- have become known as breastaurants, and are liberally borrowing from Hooter's well-established playbook. Hey, all's fair in love and food.

The Daily Times Cover Ups
Haven't you noticed that the Daily Times rarely ever reports on CRIME in the City of Salisbury? Did you know that the Salisbury Police Department sends them Press Releases every single day, (if available) yet they refuse to cover anything other than a murder.
They'll cover all the way up to Dover, Ocean City, Cambridge and yes, they'll even cover Montgomery County crime but they will not produce the regular crime right here in Salisbury.
My guess would be that they're under too much pressure from the Mayor's Office to do so and while Salisbury News delivers crime within the City of Salisbury, it simply amazed me how they'd let us share that information while they simply held back and said nothing. Over the years they have done this all too often on many different subjects.
When it came to the Waste Water Treatment Plant, they waited weeks before the story became so large they simply had to report it. We fought for months calling them every single day to pressure them into telling what was going on at the Zoo and this was just ONE article of what would be a series of follow up articles because they only told a part of what was going on. When I called them for the follow up Joe Carmean said, "Haven't you caused enough damage Joe?"
That statement in itself tells you there was lots more to cover but the Mayor put so much pressure on them they dropped the whole thing and even turned it around to make it look like my Wife was disgruntled, fools!
Now we come to Blogs. The Daily Times knows we've accomplished the impossible, or so they thought. Salisbury News has grown so big the Daily Times is laying off employees like there's no tomorrow and like I said earlier in a comment, if they give a link to Salisbury News, our hits do NOT go up for the day. We've accomplished something they never thought could happen and now the Daily Times is a back up or an alternative behind Salisbury News. Yeah, people like Lynn Cathcart who still get the Daily Times delivered to their home are still thinking that they're being delivered updated and local news. Lynn, no your not. You're getting a paper that gets thinner by the day and you come here to get the real news or to see if your name is on the Blogs.
I think back when graffiti was everywhere Downtown and the Daily Times refused to cover it and when they did it was a small photo and a 3" x 1" wide article about it. They didn't want the Citizens to know how out of control things were with Gangs and Crime. God Forbid they expose the Chief of Police and the Mayor.
Then they rag on the Blogs today, while they have numerous Blogs right o their Website. It's OK to rag on the Blogs every day but they're in the same business. The difference between the Daily Times and Salisbury News is, the Chief or the Mayor can't come walking in my door screaming and yelling and cursing like the Mayor did on the Zoo story without walking back out i hand cuffs! The other difference is, Salisbury News delivers real news and information, not covered up crap like the Times does.
Their Editorial yesterday was a complete lie about Bryan Brushmiller. The comments brought out information from the Md. Case Search Files and that's REALITY, Idiots! No one said he was CONVICTED of anything. This is simply what the Daily Times wants everyone to believe and people like Lynn Cathcart sit back and read that crap and think, boy, those Blogs are nasty. No Lynn, the Blogs tell the truth, this one anyway.
In the end we simply have to face the fact that the Daily Times will be around until Gannett simply calls it quits here in Salisbury. We'll continue to encounter articles like this one and they'll slide by and get away with these lies because that's their PROFESSION and they simply and conveniently leave out the name of the Blog they're discussing and think they're in the clear. I will contact my attorneys today and see if we have anything against them because I feel standing by and letting them attempt to crush ALL of us is wrong. They may disagree and then provide facts but I actually think since everyone knows Salisbury News is the largest Blog at least on the Eastern Shore, their intent was us and it's time we stop the slander. We'll see what happens and I'll keep you posted.
High Urinals
When it was time to take the children to the bathroom, it was decided that the girls would go with one teacher and the boys would go with the other.
The teacher assigned to the boys was waiting outside the men's room when one of the boys came out and told her that none of them could reach the urinal.
Having no choice, she went inside, helped the boys with their pants, and began hoisting the little boys up one by one, holding on to their 'wee-wees' t o d irect the flow away from their clothes . As she lifted one, she couldn't help but notice that he was unusually well endowed.
Trying not to show that she was staring the teacher said, 'You must be in the 5th grade.'
'No, ma'am', he replied. 'I'm riding Silver Arrow in the seventh race, but I appreciate your help.'
Coach Hal Chernoff Heads To Colorado Springs
Hal Chernoff , Coach of the Main St Gym was chosen to go to Colorado Springs to help develop a new system of bringing the best out of the organization athletes. "It is an attempt to improve the USA Boxing's system and make sure that we perform at the highest level and in turn bring home some hardware at the 2012 Olympics in London" Chernoff said.. 35 of the counties most experienced coaches as well as 2004 boxing gold medalist Andre Ward and 3 of the 2008 Olympians were flown in to the Olympic Training Center for a two day think tank and an exchange of ideas to improve the present system. It was due to the disappointing performance of the USA's outcome in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing China that USA Boxing decided to get back to the drawing board and use the resources of the coaches that have turned out the highest caliber of boxers, something they have not done in the past. Chernoff added "It's is an honor to be chosen, but more importantly, it gives me a chance to help the sport that I have dedicated a big part of my life to. In the end this can help all the kids involved with the sport around the country".
Gotta Love The City Of Salisbury, NOT!
Can you recommend any reasonably priced and reliable companies that can power wash house exteriors? The lovely City of Salisbury code officer decided to leave us a pink notice requiring us to clean the side of our house to remove mildew/mold ASAP, or we will receive a fine.
Now, I will say that this was on our to do list for this spring/ summer when we had the extra funds, and it may not especially be pretty for people to look at when they are driving by, but at least the house is not dilapidated and falling down as are some houses in the local area. We actually have a nearby neighbor on our street, whose house you can't even see due to the "forest" of overgrown trees, shrubs, etc. in the front and side yard. Not to mention the junk filled backyard. Yet they have never received a dreaded pink notice.
The economy is going down the drain. People are barely making a living, and the city is going to fine you for the side of your house being greenish. Gotta Love the City of Salisbury....Not!!!
Perplexed in Salisbury"
Hmmmmm? Haven't We Seen This Somewhere Before?
LYNN CATHCART, NOW A “CIVILITY” MAVEN?
I almost threw my shoe at the TV last night when I heard her carping about others, especially candidates in this year’s Salisbury City election, for making nasty comments on the blogs and such. She did not name anyone, however.
Recall that during the election in 2005 she and the two other members of the “Dream Team” (Comegys and Dunn) excoriated Debbie Campbell. When did she change her stripes, and why didn’t the lovely Lynn criticize Barrie Tilghman when the latter vilified Tim Spies just before the 2007 city election, probably causing him to lose to Comegys?
And then there’s her antics as a member of council – truly too numerous to mention.
The last time I heard a spiel like hers, the speaker also was trying to sell snake oil, and I’m still not buying any of it.
Only On The Eastern Shore
Miss Sally Edwards is a highly esteemed third grade teacher at Dorchester County
Elementary. In an effort to prepare her students for the all-important achievement
tests required by No Child Left Behind, she compiled an exam consisting of 20
questions, which she administered to her class last Tuesday. The exam purposely
covered a broad array of topics.
I call your attention to question # 11, which simply read:
LIST, IN ANY ORDER, THE FOUR SEASONS:
1. ________ 2. ________ 3.________ 4. ________
Now, could you possibly imagine that 67% of the students gave the following answer?
1. DOVE SEASON 2. DEER SEASON 3. DUCK SEASON 4. TURKEY SEASON

ACORN Lines Up to Get Some of that Stimulus Money!
ACORN Could Get Billions from Democrats' Trillion Dollar Spending Plan
"Job Creation" Bill Offers Taxpayer-Funded Bonanza for Organization Reportedly Under Federal Investigation
Washington, Jan 23 - The House Democrats’ trillion dollar spending bill, approved on January 21 by the Appropriations Committee and headed to the House floor next week for a vote, could open billions of taxpayer dollars to left-wing groups like the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). ACORN has been accused of perpetrating voter registration fraud numerous times in the last several elections; is reportedly under federal investigation; and played a key role in the irresponsible schemes that caused a financial meltdown that has cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars since last fall.
House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and other Republicans are asking a simple question: what does this have to do with job creation? Are Congressional Democrats really going to borrow money from our children and grandchildren to give handouts to ACORN in the name of economic “stimulus?”
Incredibly, the Democrats’ bill makes groups like ACORN eligible for a $4.19 billion pot of money for “neighborhood stabilization activities.” Funds for this purpose were authorized in the Housing and Economic Recovery Act, signed into law in 2008. However, these funds were limited to state and local governments. Now House Democrats are taking the unprecedented step of making ACORN and other groups eligible for these funds:
How Private Do You Believe Your Phone Calls to Be?
This came in my inbox today from my high school Marine Biology Teacher.
He has provided a link to back up the info which I will also share with you.
It has to make you wonder about this rush to digital, as well as our acceptance of such invasive things that we just willing subscribe to just like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.
Here is his email...
" I forgot to mention in my prior e-mail that cell phones are really easy to eavesdrop on.
I'd assume all phone conversations lack security, if I were you.
On a related subject, did you know that newer models of cell phones can still track you by signal even when your phone is off ?
Allegedly, this is for safety in case you've been injured or whatnot.
The public is largely unaware of this.
The lithium battery that recalls your directory numbers, etc. also functions to power a signal from your phone even when the main phone system has been turned off.
If someone knows your number and wants to find you badly enough, they can get within about 5-10 meters of your location, assuming the phone is on you (info. on this is sketchy, of course). You can bet covert services and law enforcement use this feature.
Old analog phones (like the 3 watt bag phone I used until the public was denied analog-only service by the FCC's "Analog Sunset" rule, couldn't be tracked that way...
Makes you wonder why we were knocked off analog-only service doesn't it?
The analog towers are still out there and functioning (the Forest Service still uses them for remote communication in areas without digital towers and they can serve as a default system for some cell phones that can operate at 1/8 to 1/16 watt analog in the absence of digital towers).
I can't get my 3 watt phone that I kept on a very, very old contract, to work though, because the carriers cannot host my phone number anymore.
Maybe phones like mine were used by too many drug runners or no one wants me to be able to talk on a cell line without the ability to track my exact location?
A tech-weenie at one of the big service providers said the latter was the reason, otherwise, they could make my number work just like it used to.
This is an administrative issue, not a change in technology, though those with analog phones were all told our old phones were "no longer supported" and we had to "upgrade."
The powerful home alarm industry and On Star car system that used analog even sued to keep their access, but it was denied. Interesting, eh?
My old 3-watt analog bag phone could use towers to punch all the way across the Mojave to Baker and beyond from off-road areas that had no near analog or digital towers. I could make phone calls out there. That phone got us out of trouble once when our 4-Runner wouldn't start (bad solenoid) in the middle of nowhere near Ylano. I really miss that thing.
Anyway, there's no such thing as an anonymous cell phone call, at least not on your own phone.
Authorities (and who knows who else) can not only find you physically, they can use your signal to find out your name and require your service provider to barf up your land line number, home address, employer, account info., even SS#, and anything else you put on your contract application to get your cell phone service.
If you want to block the signal between your phone and cell towers when your phone is off, you've got to either take out the lithium battery (a hassle that might also erase some of your stored data),
OR,
you can go low-tech and cover your phone with a layer or two of heavy tin foil.
(I know I will catch heat over this one)
One of those lead lined little pouches used in x-ray rooms to protect film and x-ray sensitive parts also works real well, but those are heavy.
Mostly, this is stuff to simply be aware of... Read the following about department stores tracking you in malls by your cell phone, even when it is off.
First, you're on all their little hidden cameras (you can't blow your nose without someone catching it from three angles on color cameras and probably infrared)... now they can track exactly where you go in the mall and how long you stay there for marketing purposes.
If stores can do this, what do you think law enforcement and the secret services here and abroad can do?

F-22 Raptor Update
I wanted to update you on some Maryland specific benefits of the F-22 Raptor program.
In Maryland alone, nearly 2,000 highly skilled union and non-union jobs are provided by the F-22 Raptor program. The program also provides over $700 million in revenue for Maryland businesses. One company in Maryland that works on the project, Lockheed Martin, has offices in Bethesda. GE also works on the project at their Germantown location.
Nationwide, more than 90,000 jobs and $12 billion in domestic revenue are at stake.
Currently, funding for the F-22 Raptor is in jeopardy, and the impact goes beyond our military’s ability to stay ahead of other nation’s new generation fighters. Good paying jobs and vital revenue for Maryland are at risk.
Here’s a recent YouTube video that highlights the ongoing campaign to fund the F-22 Raptor Program.
If the program is halted, the jobs and the economic impact that the program provides will disappear. With the President and Congress looking to stem unemployment and spur economic activity through a stimulus package, funding the already authorized F-22 Raptor program makes even more sense.
We’d appreciate any coverage that you could give this issue on your blog. Please feel free to link to or embed the YouTube video provided above. We are working with an organization that’s interested in preserving the program and the jobs that it provides.
Please contact me directly if you have any questions or want additional information on the program and its impacts in Maryland.
