Another 10 cases of polio-like disease confirmed

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday it has confirmed 10 more cases of an extremely rare, polio-like condition, across 24 states.

That brings the total number of cases of acute flaccid myelitis to 72, up from 62 earlier this month, mostly in kids under 18.

However, health officials still do not know what is driving the outbreak, which affects the spinal cord, causing the muscles and reflexes in the body to become weak.

AFM is not new, but cases have been on the rise since 2014.

Though the condition remains very rare - affecting only one in a million people in the United States - CDC director Dr Robert Redfield, who took the job in March this year, says it is the agency's top priority.

Scientists are investigating a number of causes, including viruses, environmental toxins and genetic disorders.

But today Dr Redfield urged Americans not to fear the rare polio-like illness sweeping the US as he believes it is not transmissable from human to human.

He told CBS This Morning that he is certain AFM is caused by a specific virus, rather than inter-personal contact.

'I've recently asked again to put together a task force to really try to look at where we're at, and what else could we do to try to solve this problem,' Dr Redfield said.

'The good news is that it doesn't appear to be transmissible from human to human. We don't see clustering in families.'

"Organized Busing Operation" Exposed, Moving Migrants Closer To US Border

Traveling at a sluggish pace of 10 miles per day, the migrant caravan probably wouldn't arrive at the nearest US border crossing at McAllen, Texas until February, according to one observer, who debunked claims widely circulated by the media that the caravan would arrive before the Nov. 6 midterm election.

But as it turns out, the organizations that have been aiding the caravan since it first formed in Honduras nearly three weeks ago have already accounted for this. And to help ensure that images of border patrol agents arresting families and separating small children from their parents are flashing across cable news in the days and hours before the polls open, these groups are employing a new tactic: Busing.

That's right. As Fox News report on Tuesday showed, migrants traveling with the caravan are being loaded on to chartered buses and transported to the next stop on the trail to the US, having refused Mexico's offer of asylum, shelter and jobs should they opt to stay in the country. Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins revealed that multiple professional buses have lined up to board the migrants, as footage from the report showed.

Halloween Decorations With Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi On Gravestones Raise Few Hackles

NEWHALL (CBSLA) — A resident in Newhall is pushing back against allegations his Halloween decorations depicting the headstones of politicians are offensive, but some say it’s a step too far.

The resident, who did not wish to be interviewed on camera, has a fake graveyard in his front yard with the names of Michael Jackson and Prince as tribute, and Kim Jong Un’s name over a mushroom cloud. Many others have the names of liberal politicians Gavin Newsom, Hillary Clinton, Jerry Brown and Nancy Pelosi, among others, plastered on the the front. He said he has done it for the past eight years and that people need to get over it, but one man running for Santa Clarita City Council told CBS2 News they should come down.

Governor Larry Hogan Statement on University of Maryland Actions

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Larry Hogan today issued the following statement regarding the University System of Maryland Board of Regents’ announcement of the results of their investigation into the University of Maryland, College Park athletic program:

"First and foremost, we cannot lose sight of the events that led to the Board of Regents’ investigation. The death of Jordan McNair was a terrible tragedy that should never have occurred and must never be forgotten.

“I’ve said from the beginning that this was a very serious matter that required action and transparency. Although our administration was not a part of the process and I do not know how the regents arrived at their conclusions, in the weeks ahead, we will be pushing for assurances that the issues outlined in the report will be effectively addressed.

“University leadership still faces the considerable challenge of restoring the trust of students, families, and faculty, and proving that there is and will be accountability for any actions that adversely impact student welfare and the standing of our flagship university. The addition of an oversight board seems to be a positive step, but many will understandably question whether enough has been done to address the serious concerns that exist among many in the College Park community - I am one of them.

“It is incumbent upon the regents, President Loh, and the College Park athletic department leadership to build a stronger athletic program where student athletes are always treated with dignity and respect, and to ensure that UMD remains a world-class academic institution that fosters a safe and supportive environment where all students can achieve their dreams.”

Tech Elites Keeping Devices Out of Their Children's Schools

After a New York Times report highlighted that Silicon Valley tech elites are keeping digital devices out of the schools of their children, Tucker Carlson said on Monday they're doing so because they know that "screens are poison."

Author and psychotherapist Tom Kersting said on Tucker Carlson Tonight that the idea that digital devices will benefit students has now proven to be "absolutely false."

He said that tech in the classroom is affecting kids' emotions, contributing to anxiety, depression and suicide.

"Maybe now we can educate other parents that aren't as aware as these Silicon Valley tech execs are."

Gillum Fought U.S. 'Colonialism' as Youth Director of Extremist Org

ORLANDO, Fl. – Florida gubernatorial candidate and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum served as the director of a radical youth training organization whose mission was to challenge U.S. “predatory capitalism,” abolish the prison system, fight a “spiritual resistance” battle against “Christian hegemony,” redefine the meaning of “borders” while aiding “undocumented” aliens, and enact the “collective liberation” of “communities of color” amid what it described as the scourge of “white supremacy.”

Gillum’s group accused the U.S. of being a “colonialist” power perpetrating “structural violence” and “continued genocide.” It claimed conservatives in the U.S. judicial system were “justifying white supremacist policing practices.”

All of that extremist rhetoric and more was posted on the official “issues” sections of the organization’s website while Gillum not only served as its active director, but while his picture, position and bio were brandished on the same site on the “staff” page.

The first contingents began arriving to camp out in Tapachula's main plaza on Tuesday.

Gerbert Hinestrosa, 54, of Santa Barbara in Honduras, is traveling with his wife and teenage son. He said he realizes how hard it will be to make it to the US border.

'Right now I feel good,' he said. 'We have barely started, but I think it is going to be very difficult.'

#WalkAway From Dems Rally Draws Hundreds of America-Loving Patriots

The gathering at Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC, on Saturday was a stark contrast to recent rallies where people dressed in black and held signs disparaging President Donald Trump and members of his administration.

The #WalkAway rally featured a sea of red, white, and blue-clad participants, waving flags, wearing Make America Great hats, and even pussy hats made infamous during the Women’s March were transformed into bright red, Trump-supporting headgear.

The success of a weekend of events to support Trump and Republicans ahead of the midterm elections on November 6 even impressed Brandon Straka, the former Democrat who launched the #WalkAway movement five months ago when he posted a video on his Facebook page urging others who are fed up with the failed policies and mob rule mentality of today’s Democrat Party to leave it.

Don Lemon: ‘The Biggest Terror Threat in This Country Is White Men’

Monday on CNN, network host Don Lemon declared “the biggest terror threat in this country” to be white men, adding that “most of them radicalized to the right.”

Lemon made those remarks in reference to the fatal shooting of two black people in Kentucky, the bombs mailed to political figures, and the shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, which killed 11 people.

Lemon said, “Now, another one. And then you have all of them in a row. And, you know, we talked, we messaged about it a little bit this weekend. I keep trying to point out to people and not to demonize any one group or any one ethnicity. But we keep thinking that the biggest terror threat is something else, someone people who are marching, you know, towards the border, like it’s imminent. And the last time they did this, a couple hundred people came, and you know, most of them did get into the country, most of them got tuckered out before they even made it to the border.”

Democratic Attacks: Who's Paying?

One thing is for sure: the Democrats never give up trying to pull fast ones on their Republican opponents and force them to defend and explain things the Republicans never in a million years thought they'd have to defend and explain. Recent political history abounds with incidences of political attacks intended to blindside the Republicans, force them off their game, pull them far off message, and generally reset the daily political narrative to language the Democrats prefer. That these attacks are almost always spectacularly unsuccessful doesn't dissuade the Democrats from trying again and again.

A notable recent Democratic attempt was Dianne Feinstein's astonishing 11th-hour, 59th-minute ambush of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh with the totally unsubstantiated, embarrassingly vague "charges" of supposed sexual misconduct some unspecified number of years ago by Kavanaugh against one Christine Blasey Ford. The whole episode was laughable on its face from a legal standpoint: if you gave a Democratic defense lawyer a case in which the accuser couldn't identify the time or location when and where the incident allegedly took place, couldn't produce any corroborating witnesses, and demonstrably had lied in her basic story (Ford said she was afraid to fly yet had provably flown on multiple occasions for both personal and professional reasons), the defense lawyer would not merely be giddy with how easily the case could be won with "reasonable doubt," but would likely go to the judge and ask that the case be dismissed entirely for lack of evidence. No doubt, the request would be granted. It was and remains a ludicrous, transparent political ploy of the lowest kind.

Land O'Lakes could face boycott over donation to Iowa republican Steve King

Land O'Lakes faces calls for a boycott over the dairy company's financial support for Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican who has drawn fire for what critics say are his links to white nationalists.

Among other things, King has stirred controversy by refusing to delete a retweet of a British activist and prominent Nazi sympathizer, Mark Collett, and has displayed a confederate flag on his desk in Washington. King in September also endorsed a candidate for mayor of Toronto who has espoused white supremacist views.

Democrats Admit Kavanaugh Mistreatment Backfiring in Midterms

Democrat strategists are now publicly admitting that the Senate Democrats’ mistreatment of now Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh harmed their chances in the midterm elections. The damage hit both their once-long-shot-but-now-virtually-non-existent odds at retaking the Senate and their very real shot at retaking the House.

“The Kavanaugh hearings did set us back, but it depended on geography,” Democrat pollster Ben Tulchin said in an on-record quote to Politico for a piece published Tuesday. Tulchin argued that Democrats were hurt in rural and suburban areas by the way they treated Kavanaugh, while bolstered in inner cities they were already set to win, saying “the more upscale districts, where we’ve done well all cycle, it was to our benefit there, and in more downscale districts with rural pockets, it was a challenge.”

Politico, in its piece, summarizes just how bad the polling shifted against Democrats in the wake of the Kavanaugh hearings:

Coast Guard repatriates 84 Haitian migrants

MIAMI — The Coast Guard Cutter Thetis (WMEC-910) crew repatriated 84 Haitian migrants Tuesday to Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

While on routine patrol the cutter Thetis crew located an overloaded 42-foot migrant vessel dead in the water Sunday approximately 30 miles southwest of Turks and Caicos Islands, arrived on scene and safely embarked 84 migrants for safety of life at sea concerns.

A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew forward deployed to Great Inagua, Bahamas provided overhead support.

"The overloaded vessel we interdicted was dead in the water and lacked basic safety equipment such as life jackets and flotation devices, which could have led to a fatal accident at sea," said Cmdr. Randall Chong, commanding officer of the cutter Thetis. "I am very proud of my crew on the cutter Thetis for finding, aiding, and ultimately rescuing all persons on board and, we will continue to patrol the Caribbean and Florida Straits to ensure safety of life at sea."

Once aboard Coast Guard cutters, all migrants receive food, water, shelter and medical attention.

Approximately 132 Haitian migrants have attempted to illegally migrate to the U.S. via the maritime environment since Oct. 1 compared to 2,488 Haitian migrants in fiscal year 2018. These numbers represent the total number of at-sea interdictions, landings and disruptions in the Florida Straits, the Caribbean and Atlantic.

The cutter Thetis is a 270-foot medium endurance cutter homeported in Key West, Florida.

SPLC Leads Soros-Funded Groups in Attempt to Ban 'Hate Speech' on Social Media

Last week, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) teamed up with five other groups funded by George Soros to pressure tech companies to "reduce hateful activities on their platforms." While this sounds like a noble goal, mainstream conservative and Christian groups that have fallen afoul of the SPLC warned that these liberal organizations have an "Orwellian" definition of hate that most Americans would disagree with. Worse, social media companies already seem biased against conservatives, and this SPLC campaign would only embolden that bias.

On Wednesday, the SPLC led a coalition of groups in releasing "Change the Terms," aiming to convince Big Tech to "reduce hateful activities on their platforms." The coalition warned that "white supremacist and other organizations that incite hate are using online platforms to organize, fund, recruit supporters for, and normalize racism, sexism, religious bigotry, as well as anti-LGBTQ and anti-immigrant animus, among other activities."

While the overwhelming majority of Americans abhor wicked ideologies like white supremacy, the SPLC boldly associates its political opponents with similar "hate," smearing them as "hate groups" to be compared with the KKK.

"It's obviously concerning that they want to censor free speech, and of course their definition of 'hate speech' is not what most people think of as hate speech," Mat Staver, founder and chairman of the Christian legal nonprofit Liberty Counsel, told PJ Media.

U.S. Military Sending Miles and Miles of Concertina Wire to SW Border

"By the end of this week, we will deploy over 5,200 soldiers to the Southwest Border," as part of Operation Faithful Patriot, Air Force Gen. Terrence J. O'Shaughnessy, head of the U.S. Northern Command, told a news conference on Monday.

"That is just the start of this operation. We'll continue to adjust the numbers and inform you of those."

The 5,200 active duty troops are in addition to the 2,092 National Guard troops deployed earlier this year. The soldiers will "harden the points of entry and address key gaps in areas around the points of entry."

And that's not all:

"We have enough concertina wire to cover up to 22 miles already deployed already to the border. We have additional concertina wire that we can string, with over 150 miles available. Additionally, looking at where the reinforcers are needed so we can get it exactly where CBP wants us to put it," O'Shaughnessy said.

"We're also bringing three highly experienced and capable combat engineering battalions with expertise in building temporary vehicle barriers, fencing -- and we’re bringing them in with heavy equipment which, as we speak right now, is line-hauling towards Texas."

Snitch on a teacher: Bolsonaro win sparks push against 'indoctrination'

A newly elected lawmaker from the party of Brazil’s right-wing president-elect, Jair Bolsonaro, has launched a campaign to encourage students to denounce teachers who complain about his victory.

The call came days after electoral authorities raided university events and classes about fascism on the pretext that they had broken electoral rules, and has raised fears of that Bolsonaro’s historic victory on Sunday will lead to ideological persecution.

Ana Campagnola, a history teacher, was elected to the state legislature in the southern state of Santa Catarina for Bolsonaro’s Social Liberal party in the election’s first round on 7 October.

On Sunday, she launched her campaign on Facebook, telling her 70,000 followers to be on the lookout for “indoctrinator teachers” who expressed outrage over Bolsonaro’s victory.

A WhatsApp number was provided for students to “film or record any party-political or ideological expressions that humiliate or offend your freedom of faith and conscience”.

Second caravan has members armed with explosives

The second migrant caravan, believed to be armed with bombs and guns, crossed into Mexico on Monday despite a huge police presence.

Hundreds of migrants following in the footsteps of the first caravan heading to the U.S. border crossed a river from Guatemala.

A low-flying police helicopter hovered overhead as the migrants waded in large groups through the Suchiate River's murky waters, apparently trying to use the downdraft from its rotors to discourage them.

Once on the Mexican side the migrants were surrounded and escorted by black-uniformed officers as sirens wailed.

The second group back at the Guatemalan frontier has been more unruly than the first that crossed. Guatemala's Interior Ministry said Guatemalan police officers were injured when the migrant group broke through border barriers on Guatemala's side of the bridge.

Mexico authorities said migrants attacked its agents with rocks, glass bottles and fireworks when they broke through a gate on the Mexican end but were pushed back, and some allegedly carried guns and firebombs.

Elder: ‘Porous Borders Are Allowing Illegal Aliens to Take Jobs’ from Minorities

Radio show host Larry Elder told Breitbart News on Saturday that porous borders affect minority communities, adding that many black people know this and are in favor of securing U.S. borders.

“I do feel there’s a great deal of momentum right now for the black conservative movement,” said Elder. “I just saw an NAACP poll that said 21 percent of blacks now support Trump. That is seven times the support that Trump got in 2016. So something is clearly happening,”

“And that something is this,” continued Elder. “Trump is doing something about illegal immigration.”

“A lot of people don’t think [illegal immigration] is an issue that black people care about, but it turns out that according to studies, porous borders are allowing illegal aliens — particularly those who are unskilled — to take jobs away from inner city blacks and browns, and they put downward pressure on their wages.”

“If you look at polls, blacks are far more supportive of doing something about the borders than their counterparts in the Democrat Party,” said Elder.

According to local public safety director Jaime Marroquin, authorities were housing 21 men, five women, and three children which were in the process of being deported. The migrants reportedly set fires to give cover to their escape.

NYT Scoop: Kavanaugh’s Georgetown Prep Class Had 35th Reunion This Weekend—And They Drank Beer

The New York Times scored another huge scoop on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh over the weekend: His Georgetown Prep class had its 35th reunion celebration and some of Kavanaugh’s classmates—although apparently not Kavanaugh himself—drank beer at the event.

The Times also somehow managed to get a recording of Georgetown Prep’s president speaking to the alumni gathering—although not one of Kavanaugh’s classmates would return calls from the Times.

The reunion took place on the same weekend as Georgetown Prep’s homecoming football game, which Kavanaugh attended.

“At one point during the football game, Justice Kavanaugh prepared to pose for a picture with former classmates,” the Times breathlessly reported. “First, though, he instructed everyone to put down their beers, according to a person who witnessed the exchange. (Justice Kavanaugh didn't appear to be drinking.)”

Why does the media let Obama get away with such bald faced lying on the stump?

When I see former President Obama and others lecturing Trump about lying, bragging that no one got charged in the Obama administration, blaming Trump for political and racial division and claiming credit for the booming economy, I long for journalists who will correct the record. Sadly, there aren’t many out there so I will try to do their job.

The first thing that needs to be corrected is when Obama is given credit for bringing us out of the 2008 recession. The truth is that the economy came out in June 2009, 110 days after Obama took office -- before any of his policies could have had an effect on the economy. Three main things brought the economy out. 1. TARP where banks and others were loaned money (that they mostly paid back) to shore up their capital base. 2. The Federal Reserve rapidly dropping interest rates and injecting massive amounts of liquidity into the markets. 3. Rapidly dropping oil prices. Obama had little or nothing to do with those policies or actions.

Migrant Caravan Is Reportedly Already Bigger Than Many U.S. Towns

The caravan making its way through various parts of Central America to the U.S. border has already swelled to around 14,000 people, according to a major Mexican newspaper. This staggering statistic, and even more conservative estimates, would render the mass of migrants larger than many American towns and communities, according to a review of U.S. census data.

El Universal claims to have received the 14,000 number from “municipal authorities, [southwestern Mexican city] Tapachula’s diocese, and the National Migration Institute.” According to The Daily Mail, the number includes up to 10,000 in the main Mexican caravan, 1,500-2,000 more in a second Guatemalan caravan, and an additional 2,500 “planning to mobilize” in Honduras and El Salvador. The Mexican National Migration Institute cited by El Universal did not respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment in time for publishing.

Reports conflict regarding the exact number of people who comprise what the Associated Press has described as “the biggest [migrant caravan] ever.” A U.N. spokesperson gave a more conservative estimate last week, claiming that there were 7,200 individuals in the caravan. The Mexican government claimed last Tuesday it was even smaller, at around 4,500 people.

The Simpsons will write off Apu after stereotype backlash

Producers are reportedly planning to write the brown-skinned shopkeeper off the animated show in an effort to silence allegations of racial stereotypingabout Indian-Americans.

Producer Adi Shankar, who does not work for the show, said Fox will “drop the Apu character altogether,” according to his interview with IndieWirepublished Friday. “They aren’t going to make a big deal out of it, or anything like that, but they’ll drop him altogether just to avoid controversy.”

The Indian-American producer said two people who work for the long-running show and one who work for its creator, Matt Groening, told him the “disheartening news.”

Shankar set out to save Apu earlier this year by crowd-sourcing a script that would make the character more PC with a storyline that “evolves him in a way that takes a creation that was the byproduct of a predominately Harvard-educated white male writers’ room and transforms it into a fresh, funny and realistic portrayal of Indians in America,” Shankar said.

Trump targeting birthright citizenship with executive order

Why it matters: This would be the most dramatic move yet in Trump's hardline immigration campaign, this time targeting "anchor babies" and "chain migration." And it will set off another stand-off with the courts, as Trump’s power to do this through executive action is debatable to say the least.

Mexican Ambassador to U.S.: Some in Migrant Caravan ‘Very Violent

The leftist media are pushing the narrative that the thousands of migrants from Central America and elsewhere are just people fleeing violence in their homeland, but during an interview with National Public Radio on Monday, Geronimo Gutierrez, the Mexican ambassador to the U.S., described some of them as “very violent.”

“I want to begin with the facts here,” Morning Edition host Steve Inskeep said. “Seven thousand or so people, which is a lot of people – looks like a lot on TV.”

“But I do know it’s part of this much larger, somewhat ordinary flow of migrants,” Inskeep said. “So how serious a situation is this in the view of your government?”

Gutierrez called it a “humanitarian crisis” and said the Mexican government is “urging people” to enter the country in accordance with its immigration law and that migrants can seek refugee status in Mexico.

“There was an effort to stop them at the border with Guatemala,” Inskeep said. “And in the end, the government more or less let them in. Is that right?”

“We have been trying to avoid, at all costs, violence in the border,” Gutierrez said. “Unfortunately, some of the people in the caravan have been very violent against authority, even though that they have offered the possibility of entering in compliance with immigration law and refugee status.”

Snow authored an article published on Oct. 25 highlighting then-unreported inconsistencies in a signed declaration from a woman whom celebrity attorney Michael Avenatti claimed could corroborate his client Julie Swetnick’s allegation that she witnessed Kavanaugh drugging and sexually abusing girls when he was just 15 years old.

Armed Migrants in Caravan Opened Fire on Mexican Cops, Say Authorities

Mexican authorities arrested two Hondurans who allegedly shot at federal police officers escorting the migrant caravan across the southern state of Chiapas. The attack follows shortly after government warnings about Molotov cocktail attacks around a second caravan near the border with Guatemala.

The attack took place near Ignacio Zaragoza, Chiapas, when members of Mexico’s Federal Police were escorting the migrant caravan as part of “Operativo Caminante” or “Operation Walker” across the southern border state. According to Mexico’s Interior Secretariat, two men identified only as 22-year-old “Jerson” and 17-year-old “Carlos” spotted the group of police officers guarding the caravan and began firing at them.

The attackers’ pistol jammed, allowing police officers to arrest them without any injuries. Federal authorities seized a .380 caliber Glock with nine rounds still in the magazine.

‘That sense of evil’: Beltway snipers police chief on pipe bomb mailings

WASHINGTON — The recent pipe bombs never exploded, but the damage was severe, according to retired police chief Charles Moose, who 16 years ago this week fronted the effort to capture two snipers who murdered 10 people in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

In October 2002, Moose was in his third year as chief of the Montgomery County, Maryland police department when John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo teamed up to terrorize the region by gunning down innocent citizens from the trunk of a 1990 Chevrolet Caprice.

Moose told WTOP how he felt last week, as more than a dozen pipe bombs were mailed to high-profile Democrats and critics of President Donald Trump over several days.

SATIRE: On Gender, Left Steps Up Effort Against Notorious Hate Group: Reality

U.S.—On trans and gender equality issues, the left have increased their effort against the notorious hate group constantly working against them: reality.

"Reality has for a long time dictated people's beliefs about men and women," said activist Rebecca Vaughn. "And it's time for people to finally stand up against it."

Reality is notoriously stubborn on issues of sex and gender, imposing chromosomes on people that tend to divide them into two distinct groups, male and female, and making the two groups different in immutable ways. This has been the main cause of sexism and gender inequality throughout history, but now many on the left are ready to take it on.

SATIRE: Caravan Of Liberal Americans Makes Way Toward Socialist Paradise Of Venezuela

MEXICO—A migrant caravan full of leftists desiring to enter the socialist paradise of Venezuela departed the United States Thursday and began marching toward through Mexico, stating they will demand asylum so they might experience the far better life that socialism offers.

The migrants claim they are leaving America because of its high standards of living, strong economy, and record employment numbers, and hope to find a better life in Venezuela's much more equitable system.

"Everyone there has the same quantity of possessions and food," said one marcher. "Everyone makes millions of dollars, and very few people work. It's a real paradise." The refugees have complex motivations, but the vast majority simply want to see everything socialism has to offer after suffering the amazing benefits of capitalism for too long.

Caravan organizers dispelled rumors that they were funded by Bernie Sanders, claiming the caravan was an organic grassroots movement.

Kids Aren't Getting Much Exercise

More than three-fourths of children nationally between the ages of 6 and 17 do not get enough daily physical activity, and activity levels vary depending on gender and other factors, according to a recent national report card.

The 2018 United States Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth, released this month, provides a comprehensive assessment of activity levels by reviewing and summarizing national health statistics and data from multiple national surveys. Metrics are broken into nine indicators, including overall physical activity, health-related fitness and sedentary behaviors like watching television or playing video games. Gun thefts soar in Richmond region and the consequences can be devastating

Every day last year at least one gun on average was reported stolen from someone's car or truck in the Richmond metropolitan area.

When including homes, businesses and other locations, nearly 2.5 firearms were reported stolen on average each day in either Richmond or the counties of Chesterfield, Henrico and Hanover.

The thefts have been rising over the past decade, and authorities say there's no sign it will abate until gun owners take more responsibility for securing their firearms, especially in their vehicles.

Local police have taken 5,873 reports of firearm thefts in the region from 2010 to 2017, and many of those involve the loss of multiple weapons. Nearly one-third of the total were taken from vehicles - a great many of which were unlocked.

Halloween Safety Tips: Know Before you Go...

ANNAPOLIS, MD – It’s the week of Halloween and you knew it had to happen. The Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) has a list of Halloween safety tips to keep your little Fortnite character, Superman, unicorn, mermaid and dinosaur safe.

“We hate to be the ones to let the air out of the fun balloon, but there are things parents and children need to know before heading out for a fun evening of trick-or-treating,” said V. Glenn Fueston, Jr., Executive Director of GOCCP. “These are just a simple list of things to know before you go.”

Try your costume on before you go Trick-or-Treating; it should be light-colored and short enough that you don’t trip on it. You can decorate the costume with reflective tape or stickers so you can easily be seen at night.

Wear comfy shoes and make sure your laces are double-knotted to avoid tripping.

Avoid masks that make it hard to see your surroundings. Makeup is a good stand in for a mask.

Make a map of your trick-or-treating route before you head out.

Have a copy handy and make sure your parents have a copy.

Only stop at well-lit houses. Never go inside a stranger’s house; only accept treats in the doorway.

Stay on the sidewalk. If there is not a sidewalk available, walk facing oncoming traffic and keep a safe distance between you and the cars.
Stay away from jack-o-lanterns and candles while you are wearing your costume.

Make sure that your costume is made of a flame-retardant material. Go over the “Stop, Drop and Roll” routine before going trick-or-treating just in case.

Never trick-or-treat alone! Make sure you have at least two buddies to go with you.

Only cross the street at corners after looking both ways.

Never run between parked cars or crisscross back and forth across the street.

Carry a watch, flashlight, glow stick and cell phone if possible.

Agree on a time when you will be home – if you are going to be late, call your parents.

Always have a parent check your candy before you eat it.
Finally, visit this site for important safety information.

Halloween tips are part of 31 days of tips GOCCP is using to mark National Crime Prevention Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Anti-bullying/Cyberbullying Awareness Month, and National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. All month long, the agency is using its social media channels to post daily tips to help keep Marylanders safe. The hashtags used are #ASaferMD, #TipADay, #CrimePrevention.

DESPERATE DEMOCRATS: Obama Rips Trump For Leaving Cell Phone ‘In Golf Cart’

Former President Barack Obama has been mostly invisible in the weeks leading up to Nov. 6th's mid-term elections. Few of the high-profile Democrats facing tight races have called him in for support, leaving the former leader of the party stumping in high school gymnasiums in places like Wisconsin and Michigan — two states Hillary Clinton lost in 2016.

And Obama, whose "legacy" is being systematically dismantled by President Trump, has turned to ad hominem attacks to try to take on his successor.

Obama cited Hillary's secret home brew email server to accuse Republicans of trying to "scare the heck out of people before every election." And he also mocked Trump about a recent New York Times story that Russia and China listen in on Trump's cell phone calls.

'Gosnell' Hangs On at Box Office Despite Obstacles

The movie about Kermit Gosnell, the late-term abortionist in Philadelphia who went to prison after being convicted of the murder of three babies, briefly cracked the Top 10 at the U.S. box office but also continues to face what its producers call censorship.

“We have been banned, blocked, and attacked,” Phelim McAleer, who co-produced “Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer” with his wife, Ann McElhinney, said in a statement Friday to The Daily Signal.

“The mainstream media refused to review the film despite a national release of a movie about a subject [abortion] that is a major political issue,” McAleer said. “NPR refused our advertising, Facebook has blocked our ads, and theaters yanked our film, even though it was a success.”

“Gosnell” has taken in an estimated $3.2 million and was on 467 screens as of Sunday, according to Box Office Mojo, which placed it unofficially at No. 18 among all movies in theaters.

Another Migrant Caravan Rushes Mexico-Guatemala Border

Hundreds of Central American migrants rushed through the border gate between Guatemala and Mexico as another large-scale caravan begins its march to the U.S. border. At this point, Mexican authorities appear to be holding the new caravan back.

Members of the new caravan can be seen throwing rocks and other projectiles at Guatemalan authorities who attempted to stop them from breaking through a locked border gate. Video taken by Mexico’s Azteca Noticias shows the initial moments of the clash.

The yellow gate is the last barrier in Guatemala before the migrants entered an international port of entry on top of the Suchiate River that divides the two countries. Mexican authorities continue to stand guard on their side of the gate in case the migrants attempt to break through by force. The group formed the caravan to follow the lead of others in recent weeks. The initial caravan began in Honduras earlier this month and publicly stated they would not stop until they reach the U.S. border.

Angry Leftist Mob Disrupts Marsha Blackburn Campaign Rally

Half a dozen angry liberal protesters attempted to disrupt a Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) campaign rally Sunday afternoon where Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was the featured speaker.

The two headlined an event held before a packed house at singer Ray Stevens’ CabaRay Theater in Nashville. Marsha Blackburn spoke for about ten minutes to the enthusiastic crowd of 500 that had been infiltrated by a small left-wing group.

When Blackburn called for a moment of silence to remember those killed at an attack on a synagogue in Pittsburgh, the crowd’s silent respect was interrupted by one of the protesters who shouted at Blackburn.

One protester disrupted the event prior to Blackburn’s address and was removed by security and law enforcement.

Several protesters disrupted Blackburn’s address. All of them were removed by security and law enforcement.

During the time the protesters were being removed, the crowd shouted: “USA, USA, USA!,” followed by: “Jobs, Not Mobs!”

Donald Trump: Blame media for causing 'great anger' in US

Despite calls for him to cool his overheated rhetoric after the deadly synagogue shooting and pipe bomb mailings, President Trump on Monday continued his assault on the news media by once again branding them as the “Enemy of the People” and accusing them of stoking rage.

“There is great anger in our Country caused in part by inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news. The Fake News Media, the true Enemy of the People, must stop the open & obvious hostility & report the news accurately & fairly,” he wrote to his more than 55 million Twitter followers.

“That will do much to put out the flame of Anger and Outrage and we will then be able to bring all sides together in Peace and Harmony. Fake News Must End!” the president posted, just two days after 11 people were gunned down by a man yelling “all Jews must die” at a Pittsburgh synagogue.

Hillary Clinton Considering 2020 Rematch Against President Trump: 'I'd Like to Be President'!

Twice-defeated Democratic Party presidential candidate Hillary Clinton still wants to be president–enough that she will decide after the mid-term elections whether to mount a rematch against President Donald Trump who defeated her in 2016. Clinton was beaten by Barack Obama for the 2008 Democrat nomination in her first bid for the presidency.

Clinton was interviewed by Kara Swisher of Recode at the 92nd Street Y in New York City Friday. Swisher was able to get past an initial “no” from Clinton about 2020, prompting Clinton to concede she still wants to president followed by Clinton listing her experience as a senator and secretary of State as to why she believes she is qualified to undo what Trump has done as President.

The interview covered a wide range of subjects including Clinton attacking Facebook over her 2016 loss, as noted by Recode’s report.

Media Waging 'Psychological Warfare' Against Trump With Warnings Of Looming 'Staff Exodus'

We've heard this one before...

Even as polls have shown that Democrats' efforts to stymie the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, as well as their continued support for open borders as a migrant caravan trudges ever closer to McAllen, Texas, have only galvanized Republican voters ahead of the Nov. 6 midterms, the mainstream media has continued to push the narrative that the imminent blue wave will almost certainly wrest control of the House away from the GOP, forcing Trump and his cabinet officials into an uncomfortable position, as Democrats leverage their newfound power to subpoena staffers, senior officials and perhaps even the president himself. Fearful of being caught up in a drama with potential legal ramifications, Trump administration officials are preparing for a mass exodus during the lame-duck session that could leave the West Wing and the bureaucracy dangerously understaffed, according to Politico, Bloomberg and several other media organizations, all of which have in recent days published stories about rumored staff departures.

The message from the mainstream media is clear: After a surprisingly successful run at the helm, the Trump administration is finally sinking under the weight of the profusion of scandals, and with key officials like White House counsel Don McGahn II already on their way out, it's unclear who, exactly, will act as a bulwark between Trump and his political enemies.

As Steve Bannon said, staffers, the majority of whom aren't well paid, are worried that they will find themselves embroiled in some legal fiasco that might force them to blow all of their savings on legal fees.

“How do you restaff with top quality folks knowing that you’re going to be subpoenaed? If you go in, you better be wealthy because you’re going to need to pay a lawyer,” said Steve Bannon, the former White House adviser who has had to hire his own lawyer to respond to inquiries about his time in the admini

Terry McAuliffe: Hillary Clinton 'Is Never Going to Be on a Ballot Again'

McAuliffe tampered down the speculation about Clinton launching another presidential bid on Monday after Clinton declared at an event in New York City Friday that she would “like to be president.”

“It’s hard for Hillary. She got three million more votes than Donald Trump did in the last presidential election. But I feel confident in saying I think Hillary is never going to be on the ballot again, I think she is done running for elected office,” McAuliffe said. “She’s going to be out helping candidates. But I feel very confident in saying she’s not going to run for president.”

Kemp Vows to 'Track and Deport Criminal Illegals' if Elected Governor

Georgia Republican gubernatorial nominee Brian Kemp joined Breitbart News Radio on Saturday to discuss his opposition to his challenger’s radical socialist agenda.

Kemp’s Democrat challenger, Stacey Abrams, has embraced socialism and pushed to give illegal aliens voting privileges. Kemp shared his thoughts on this and said he will ensure that it does not happen.

“I don’t know if I can explain it. It’s against the constitution, and obviously against state law. Certainly, as Secretary of State, I am gonna make sure that doesn’t happen,” said Secretary Kemp. “It’s funny, the lawsuit they proposed or served us with, was asking for that, we pointed that out to them. They amended the complaint not to ask for that, so now they’re suing us over something we already do. So it’s just gotten ridiculous down here in Georgia.”

Brett Kavanaugh's main accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, has raised nearly $1 million from two GoFundMe accounts, and she's asking for more, according to an article by RealClearInvestigations.

Ford is also fielding offers for a book deal. All of this despite Democrats making a big deal during the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings that she had "nothing to gain" from coming forward.

"You had absolutely nothing to gain by bringing these facts to the Senate Judiciary Committee," Sen. Dick Durbin said during her testimony last month. This sentiment was echoed by other Democrats, who presented it as evidence that Ford was telling the truth. "I want to thank you," added California Sen. Ron Paul: Trump Is Right, The Fed Is Crazy

President Trump recently called the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes crazy. Leaving aside President Trump’s specific complaint, which is likely motivated by the belief that low rates will help him win reelection, he is right that “crazy” is a good way to describe the Federal Reserve.

When not forced to use a government-created currency, individuals have historically chosen to use a precious metal such as gold or silver as money. The reasons include that precious metals are durable and their value tends to remain relatively stable over time. A stable currency ensures that prices accurately convey the true value of goods and services.

A main value of a precious metal is it accurately conveys the true price of money, which is the Interest rate. If the interest rate reflects the manipulation of central bankers and not true market conditions, individuals will be unable to properly allocate resources between savings and current consumption.

In contrast to market money, government-created fiat currency is anything but stable. Central banks constantly increase and decrease the money supply in an attempt to control the economy by controlling the interest rates. This causes individuals to misread market conditions, leading to a misallocation of resources. This can create an illusion of prosperity. But eventually reality catches up to the Federal Reserve-created fantasies. When that happens, there is a recession or worse, leading the Fed to start the whole boom-and-bust cycle over again.

Israel Quietly Transferred $250m Of Sophisticated Spy Systems To Saudi Arabia: Report

A new bombshell report in the Jerusalem Post confirms that Israel and Saudi Arabia's somewhat "quiet" but growing security relationship is far more extensive than previously thought, as it now includes a $250 million weapons deal.

This is unprecedented as the two nations still don't even have official diplomatic relations, as the kingdom has yet to officially recognize the state of Israel, but continue a close behind the scenes alliance based on intelligence sharing especially in places like Syria or even Yemen in order to "counter Iran".

According to the Jerusalem Post report:

Saudi Arabia and Israel held secret meetings which led to an estimated $250-million deal, including the transfer of Israeli espionage technologies to the kingdom, Israeli media reported on Sunday, citing an exclusive report by the United Arab Emirate news website Al-Khaleej.

The report goes on to describe the spy systems as "the most sophisticated systems Israel has ever sold to any Arab country"and notes they've already been transferred to Saudi Arabia, where a Saudi technical team will undergo training to operate them.

5,200 US Troops Deploying to Southern Border

Roughly 5,200 U.S. troops will be deploying to the southern border in response to the migrant caravan pushing north through Mexico, U.S. officials told Fox News on Monday.

“We'll reinforce along priority points of entry so as to enhance [Border Patrol]’s ability to harden and secure the border,” Air Force Gen. Terrence O’Shaughnessy, head of U.S. Northern Command said at a news conference in Washington, D.C., adding that the deployment would be completed by the "end of this week."

The reinforcements headed to the U.S.-Mexico border are support troops – not combat troops – and will include three engineering battalions with "heavy equipment", as well as aviation and medical personnel. Most of the troops are on active duty and will carry weapons, but will not be part of any law enforcement effort in deference to the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits the federal government from using the armed forces in a domestic police role.

The troop deployment, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, had been expected after Defense Secretary Jim Mattis approved the request last week. But the number of troops is far higher than initial estimates.

There are three planned staging areas: in South Texas, Arizona and California, for what's now been dubbed Operation Faithful Patriot. The mission's U.S. ground commander is Army Lt. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, who was sent to Puerto Rico last year to lead Hurricane Maria relief efforts.

Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris accused of breaking fundraising rules over Kavanaugh vote

A watchdog group filed a Senate ethics complaint Monday against Sens. Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren for sending out fundraising emails asking for donations to support their votes against Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh — even before they cast their votes against him.

While voting and then asking supporters to back that decision with cash is common, the watchdog group, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT), says asking for money ahead of time crosses the line into vote-buying.

FACT asked the Senate ethics committee to probe fundraising emails sent by Ms. Warren, Massachusetts Democrat, and Ms. Harris, California Democrat.

Ms. Warren’s email said she was demanding a delay on the judge’s confirmation vote and asked for donations for her 2018 election campaign, while Ms. Harris’s emails detailed several of her actions as a member of the Judiciary Committee, including her questioning of the president’s pick for the high court, and asking for contributions.

The Senate’s rules prohibit senators “cashing in” on using their official positions for personal gain.

FACT said that linking a promise of official action with campaign contributions violates that principle.

'Another Suspicious Package' To CNN Is Intercepted In Atlanta

A suspicious package addressed to CNN's office in Atlanta was intercepted on Monday, the network said, adding that all of its mail is being screened off-site.

The announcement comes three days after the FBI arrested Cesar Altieri Sayoc and accused him of trying to send improvised explosive devices to high-profile Democrats and media targets. He is facing charges for five federal crimes, including the illegal mailing of explosives.

The Atlanta package is "similar in appearance to the others" that were addressed to CNN, the FBI said shortly after noon on Monday.

Packages linked to Sayoc have used the address of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz's office in South Florida as their return address. Despite Sayoc's arrest, the authorities have warned that there may be other packages still working their way through the postal system.

The president will hold 11 campaign events in six days beginning Wednesday, including stops in Florida, Montana, Indiana, Missouri and other battleground states that will determine control of the Senate.

Following a previously announced rally on Wednesday in Florida for gubernatorial candidate former Rep. Ron DeSantis (R), Trump will head to Columbia, Mo., on Thursday where Senate candidate Josh Hawley, the state attorney general, is aiming to unseat Sen. Claire McCaskill (D).

The president will begin the day on Friday in Huntington, W.Va., where state attorney Patrick Morrisey is challenging Sen. Joe Manchin(D). Trump will then travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to boost former state lawmaker Mike Braun in his bid against Sen. Joe Donnelly (D).
