The same U.S. policies that helped created al-Qaeda in Afghanistan in the 1980s are today creating many al-Qaedas in many Muslim countries, promising to deliver future terror strikes that will make 9/11 seem like child’s play.
To understand this dire prediction, we must first examine the United States’ history of empowering Islamic jihadis—only to be attacked by those same jihadis many years later—and the shortsightedness of American policymakers, whose policies are based on their brief tenure, not America’s long-term wellbeing.
In the 1980s, the U.S. supported Afghani rebels—among them the jihadis—to repel the Soviets. Osama bin Laden, Ayman Zawahiri, and countless foreign jihadis journeyed to Afghanistan to form a base of training and planning—the first prerequisite of the jihad, as delineated in Sayyid Qutb’s Milestones.

Rotting, Decaying And Bankrupt – If You Want To See The Future Of America Just Look At Detroit
Eventually the money runs out. Much of America was shocked when the city of Detroit defaulted on a $39.7 million debt payment and announced that it was suspending payments on $2.5 billion of unsecured debt, but those who visit my site on a regular basis were probably not too surprised. Anyone with half a brain and a calculator could see this coming from a mile away. But people kept foolishly lending money to the city of Detroit, and now many of them are going to get hit really hard.
Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr has submitted a proposal that would pay unsecured creditors about 10 cents on the dollar. Similar haircuts would be made to underfunded pension and health benefits for retirees. Orr is hoping that the creditors and the unions that he will be negotiating with will accept this package, but he concedes that there is still a "50-50 chance" that the city of Detroit will be forced to formally file for bankruptcy.
But what Detroit is facing is not really that unique. In fact, Detroit is a perfect example of what the future of America is going to look like. We live in a nation that is rotting, decaying, drowning in debt and racing toward insolvency. Already there are dozens of other cities across the nation that are poverty-ridden, crime-infested hellholes just like Detroit is, and hundreds of other communities are rapidly heading in that direction. So don't look down on Detroit. They just got there before the rest of us.
The following are some facts about Detroit that are absolutely mind-blowing...

TV Viewers Weary Of Nudity And Obscenity Look For Decency From FCC Nominee
The future of long-standing government bans on obscenity and nudity on the airwaves soon could become much clearer as President Obama’s pick to head the Federal Communications Commission faces a Senate confirmation hearing Tuesday — one day before the public comment period on the policy ends.
Groups battling indecent content on television are urging members of theSenate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee to press FCC nominee Tom Wheeler about his views on decency standards.
They also are calling for supporters to denounce an FCC proposal to pursue only “egregious” decency violations, saying that change would open the floodgates for partial nudity and rampant profanity during prime time.
“If you think TV is bad now, just wait until the FCC all but sanctions nudity and profanity, permitting both as long as they are ‘isolated,’ whatever that means,” Patrick A. Trueman, president and chief executive of Morality in Media, said in a recent email to supporters.

Man Ate In Restaurants, Refused To Pay: Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison
Authorities don’t know why an Illinois man skipped out on his tabs at two restaurants. Was he broke? Was the food terrible? We don’t know. What we do know is that twice in a period of two months, he ordered a nice meal at a restaurant, then simply told waitstaff that he couldn’t pay and waited for the police to arrive.
The problem is that eating a $70 steak dinner you don’t want to pay for carries a theft charge. Normally, a theft that small would be a misdemeanor, but the meal-napper had enough of a criminal record that he was charged with a felony. Originally, he was charged with burglary because he walked into the restaurant planning not to pay. He could have received a prison sentence of up to sixteen years.

American Powerhouse Goes Full Throttle Vs. IRS
From “No taxation without representation” at the Boston Tea Party in 1773 to “No taxation without an investigation” of the IRS at Washington, D.C., in 2013.
Patriots arriving from around the nation will be able to attend two tea parties at the Capitol on Wednesday.
The “Audit the IRS Rally” organized by the Tea Party Patriots, running from noon to 3 p.m., will demand a full investigation of the agency’s harassing of conservative groups.
The Tea Party Patriots’ co-founder and national coordinator, Jenny Beth Martin, told WND: “We want to make sure the IRS and the employees of the IRS understand that we expect them to be public servants, which is their job, and not to infringe on our constitutional rights or to use the IRS as a political weapon against citizens. So, we are standing up now to make sure this never happens again.”

A Letter To The Editor: "Smokescreen"
Isn't it amazing how the MSM ignored Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the
IRS, and DOJ persuit of the press scandals? Then the NSA comes out and
they jump all over it. Could this be a misdirection play to take the
focus off the real scandals? Just when it seemed at every turn the
regime seemed to be stepping into dog poop at each presser, suddenly a
"leak" occurs in the NSA where almost all Americans calls were tracked
to look for patterns, to presumably prevent terrorist attacks. Suddenly
the press is aghast! Even the DOJ press scandal did not get the press so
worked up. People died at Benghazi. The press was targeted in a
wholesale fashion in the DOJ scandal. The IRS was used for political
advantage. None of pricked the ears of the main steam media!
Man Charged with DUI...On Shopping Cart
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A 63-year-old man was pulled over and arrested for allegedly driving a motorized shopping cart while under the influence of alcohol. A grocery store employee called police after seeing the suspect, Merrill Moses, drive into parking lot traffic. When an officer arrived at the scene, an employee was holding onto the cart so that Moses could not escape.
A preliminary test came back showing the suspect’s breath-alcohol at about four times the legal limit.
In addition to DUI, Moses was charged with shoplifting and refusing to take an official sobriety test. His basket contained unpaid items including chocolate chip cookies and Betty Crocker cake mix.

Man Hurt At Camden Yards Moves To Rehab Facility, Lawyers Looking For Witnesses To Incident
A Maryland man hurt in a fight during a Baltimore Orioles game last month has moved to a rehab facility, and his lawyers said Monday they are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the exchange.
The family of 25-year-old Matthew Fortese, a doctor who treated him and his lawyers held a news conference Monday in Baltimore. The doctor said Fortese has moved to an in-patient rehabilitation facility and is working with physical, occupational and speech therapists.
Fortese’s brother, Jimmy Fortese, said his brother is learning again how to talk. Jimmy Fortese said his brother is “starting to understand things a little more, starting to ask some more questions, starting to recognize some people more, but then in the next breath he could say something totally off the wall that makes no sense.”

‘Cheers’ Star: We Didn’t Need Surveillance When We Were Kids – ‘We Had God’
Actor John Ratzenberger said Friday that when he was a child, there was no need for surveillance, “because we knew God was watching us.”
“When we were kids, we didn’t need security cameras on the telephone poles to watch us, because we knew God was watching us. We don’t need cameras. We had God,” Ratzenberger, who played Cliff Clavin on “Cheers,” said at the Faith and Freedom Coalition Conference in Washington, D.C.
Ratzenberger also voiced the character Hamm the Piggy Bank on “Toy Story” as well as other supporting roles in Pixar films.
He said the 1962 Supreme Court decision Engel v. Vitale, which ended prayer in schools, resulted in a generation of kids thinking they were “the center of the universe.”

Funeral Held For Md. Girl, 10, Who Police Say Was Raped, Murdered By Family Friend
PORT DEPOSIT, Md.-- Friends and family held a funeral Monday for the 10-year-old Maryland girl who police say was raped and murdered by a family friend last week, according to CBS Baltimore.
The station reported that at the time of the murder, Kami Ring was staying with a couple who had become like grandparents to her. Authorities said they found her body near their home.
Police said DNA tests connected the couple's adult son, Richard Madden, who also lived in the house, with the girl's death, reports CBS Baltimore.
"Although the people who Kami called her grandparents certainly may have been well intended, I'm not sure if anybody really knew who Richard Madden was," Adam Rosenburg of the Baltimore Child Abuse Center told CBS Baltimore.
Experts told the station that in 90 per cent of child sex abuse cases, the victims know the perpetrator.

11 Fire Departments Failed To Match State Funds, Audit Finds
The Maryland Military Department continued to dole out $5.2 million to support fire services in11 local jurisdictions even though they did meet requirements for matching local funding, according to a state audit.
The 11 jurisdictions received a little more than half of the total $10 million in “Amoss” funding for emergency services awarded annually to all 23 Maryland counties and Baltimore City. Auditors found that some of the funds were deposited in brokerage accounts, rather than federally insured banks.
The audit report released last week also found misuse of state credit cards amounting to $107,493 that caused the firing of an employee. The employee used fake invoices to cover for the expenses.

Report: US Adult Smoking Rate Dips To 18 Percent
The results of the latest national health survey by the government finds the percentage of smokers in the United States has dropped to 18 percent in 2012.
The nation's smoking rate generally has been falling for decades, but had seemed to stall at around 20 to 21 percent for about seven years. In 2011, the rate fell to 19 percent, but that might have been a statistical blip.
A spokesman for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says health officials are analyzing the 2012 findings and have not yet concluded why the rate dropped.

Is Oklahoma Meteorologist to Blame for Tornado Deaths?
A meteorologist in Oklahoma is facing serious criticism that he’s to blame for the deaths of five people in last month’s tornado. A woman named Virginia Shrum said she and her family were watching coverage on KFOR, an NBC affiliate, while discussing whether to hide in the house or leave.
That’s when they say meteorologist Mike Morgan settled the debate when he said the following on air: “It’s heading right down Interstate 40. You cannot be above ground in Yukon. You got to go south and you need to go now. And you need to be below ground – interior bathroom or closet’s not going to do it.”
The group of 11 family and friends ran to the drainage tunnel. The tornado missed them, but flash flooding swept all of them into the Oklahoma River. Four of the five who died were children. One child’s body still has not been recovered.

Congress At Work: The House Votes To Uphold The Indefinite Detention Of Americans
In case you missed it, last Thursday our illustrious House of Representatives voted on an amendment that would have blocked the possibility for the President to lock up American citizens without a trial. Unsurprisingly, our so-called “representatives” once again voted against protecting the constitutional rights of the citizenry in the name of the Orwellian, never-ending “war on terror.” If you need a refresher on the NDAA and the authoritarian power it grants the executive branch, I suggest you read one of my most popular posts ever: NDAA: The Most Important Lawsuit in American History that No One is Talking About.
After the amendment’s failure, its sponsor Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash) correctly called out Republicans for their complete and total hypocrisy when it comes to “big government.” He stated:
“This is a vote against the United States constitution and it is a vote against due process. It is mind-boggling and extremely disappointing that the party who claims to fear big government overreach has voted against an amendment to prevent the government from indefinitely detaining individuals detained on U.S. soil –- including U.S. citizens.”

Indiana Dem Official Sentenced To Prison For '08 Ballot Fraud In Obama-Clinton Primary
As Hillary Clinton prepares for a possible presidential run in 2016, it appears that she could have knocked then-candidate Barack Obama off the 2008 primary ballot in Indiana.
If anyone, including her campaign, had challenged the names and signatures on the presidential petitions that put Obama on the ballot, election fraud would have been detected during the race.
But at the time, no one did.

U.S. Education Slipping In World Rankings: Report
The U.S. education system is not as globally competitive as it used to be, a study by the Council on Foreign Relations revealed on Monday.
“The real scourge of the U.S. education system — and its greatest competitive weakness — is the deep and growing achievement gap between socioeconomic groups that begins early and lasts through a student’s academic career,” wrote Rebecca Strauss, associate director for CFR’s Renewing America publications.
“And while America does spend plenty on education, it funnels a disproportionate share into educating wealthier students, worsening that gap,” she said.

Words That Got A U.S. Congressman Deported
Congressman Clement L. Vallandigham (D-Ohio) was the original American "whistleblower." Serving as a member of Congress from Dayton, Ohio during the War to Prevent Southern Independence, his criticisms of the Lincoln regime earned him the reputation as the leader of the Democratic opposition. The Republican Party smeared him and all other opponents as a "copperhead" (a.k.a. snake in the grass). On May 5, 1863, sixty-seven heavily-armed soldiers broke into his home in the middle of the night and dragged him off to a military prison. This was done without any due process, as Lincoln had long ago illegally suspended the writ of Habeas Corpus. He was said to be guilty of "discouraging enlistments" in the army with his criticisms of the Lincoln regime. A military order issued in the state of Ohio declared all such speech to be illegal, and military officers were to have dictatorial powers in deciding what kind of speech would be permitted there. All of this was of course done at the direction of Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln apparently wanted Northerners to believe that all such critics were spies and traitors, so Congressman Vallandigham was deported to the state of Tennessee and placed in the hands of a Confederate Army commander. The Confederates considered him to be an "enemy alien" and imprisoned him in Wilmington, North Carolina for a short time. Vallandigham was released and made his way via blockade runner to Canada, where he spent the rest of the war.

Voter Proof-of-Citizenship Law Voided By Supreme Court
The U.S. Supreme Court threw out an Arizona law requiring evidence of citizenship when people register to vote, in a victory for minority-rights advocates and the Obama administration.
The justices said Arizona’s proof-of-citizenship law runs afoul of a federal statute that sets registration requirements. The 7-2 ruling limits the role played by the states in national elections and raises questions about similar laws in three other states -- Alabama, Georgia and Kansas.
A U.S. appeals court had invalidated the Arizona law, pointing to a 1993 federal statute that says states must “accept and use” a standard registration document known as the federal form. That form instructs prospective voters to swear that they are citizens, under penalty of perjury.

2 Forms Of Gulf War Illness Affect Different Parts Of Brain
They served their country two decades ago, and more than 200,000 Gulf War vets are still dealing with the mysterious symptoms they brought home.
These vets say their wide-ranging problems -- from cognitive impairment to debilitating fatigue -- are the result of exposure to dangerous chemicals during their service in the war from 1990 to 1991.
Getting to the bottom of their complaints has been a two-year mission for a research team at Georgetown University Medical Center. Now, these researchers say they have found the missing piece of the puzzle.
Results published in the journal PLOS ONE show there are two different forms of Gulf War illness, each linked to damage in a different part of the brain.

John Boehner: This Explains A Lot
THE REPUBLICAN "LEADER" IS A PROFILE IN LACK OF IMPULSE CONTROL
“Are you drunk?”
This expression is used often in our culture, usually by someone attempting to call into question the sober-mindedness of another individual. Of course this isn’t a literal interrogatory seeking to determine, say, another’s blood alcohol content – it’s more of a mental status check.
Like, “are you crazy?”
Anyway … in the case of U.S. Speaker John Boehner (RINO-Ohio), the question could go either way. Boehner obviously isn’t of “sober-mind” – as evidenced by his wholesale betrayal of the limited government movement that made him Speaker in 2011. But he’s also a drunk. In fact most nights, Washington, D.C. sources tell FITS Boehner can be found drunk off his ass at the Capitol Hill Club, a private bar located two blocks down First Street from the U.S. Capitol.
In fact, Boehner was drinking at the club when one of the few journalists ever to write about the establishment – our friend Ken Silverstein from Harper’s – received an invitation to attend. From Silverstein’s piece (published in 2008) …

I HOPE YOU GOVERNMENT DRONES ARE WATCHING
Detroit said it will stop making payment on $2.5 billion of the city’s massive $18.5 billion debt and has asked creditors to accept 10 cents in the dollar of what the city owes them in a bid to avoid the largest municipal bankruptcy filing in US history.
Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr said the city would stop making payments on its unsecured debt in a bid to “conserve cash” for vital services like police and firefighters. He further said pension benefits both present and future along with healthcare would face cuts, while control over the city’s water and sewage would be turned over to an independent body.
“We’re tapped out,” Orr was quoted by WWJ-TV as saying. “We need to come up with a plan to restructure our debt obligations and our legacy obligations going forward — that is: pension, other employee benefits, healthcare, so on and so forth.”
Orr continued that $1.25 billion would be set aside over the next decade, $750 million of which will go towards public safety, including funds for police, fire, streetlights and other endeavors. The remaining $500 million will be for blight removal.
The emergency manager spent two hours with about 180 bond insurers, pension trustees, union representatives and other creditors holding Detroit debt on Friday in an effort to fix fiscal problems which have left the city insolvent.
One bond holder present at the meeting who asked not to be identified told Reuters Orr’s proposal was likely more than debt holders would be able to accept.
“It’s just too much. It is an unprecedented amount to ask.”

Congressman Harris - On IRS And Wasted Stimulus Dollars, The Buck Stops Nowhere
Congressman Harris penned an op-ed in today’s Baltimore Sun where he addressed the ongoing scandal involving the IRS and the wasted stimulus dollars in Maryland. No matter what the scandal is no one is taking responsibility for what’s going on.
Of note: from his position on the Appropriations Committee, Congressman Harris is investigating the wasted stimulus dollars. He believes since the initial audit revealed so much misspending there should be an expanded audit of how all Maryland school districts spent stimulus dollars. Also, all the wasted stimulus dollars should be repaid to the taxpayer.

Judge: Eastern Shore Arson Cases Will Proceed
By April 1, police were on high alert.
More than 70 abandoned and unoccupied buildings had been set ablaze since November, and the Virginia State Police and Accomack County Sheriff's Office had increased patrols and surveillance.
It was enough for Charles R. Smith III to notice, according to a statement read aloud in court Monday from his interview with police following his arrest.
Smith told fiancée Tonya S. Bundick, who was riding with him, that a house in Melfa seemed like a setup, a "dead giveaway," according to the statement.
From a camouflaged tent in the woods nearby, two state troopers watched the house off Airport Drive, one wearing night-vision goggles, the other manning the radio, the troopers testified Monday.

‘FREE AT LAST’: LA. STATE SENATOR EXPLAINS WHY HE RECENTLY LEFT THE ‘GOVERNMENT PLANTATION’ & JOINED GOP IN POWERFUL VIDEO
Louisiana State Sen. Elbert Guillory, formerly a Democrat, recently — and enthusiastically — joined the Republican party.
Weeks after announcing his bold move, Guillory has released a video explaining why he is now with the GOP. The powerful video is titled, “Why I Am a Republican.”
In the video, Guillory says it is the Republican Party that actually has the best interests of the black community in mind. He argues Democrats relentlessly push an agenda intended to exert control over blacks, not lift them out of poverty.
