Washington, D.C. - Carl Anderson, the head of the Knights of Columbus, spoke with Townhall Friday during the March for Life about the scrutiny that judicial nominee Brian C. Buescher faced over his membership in the Catholic charitable organization.
In written questions submitted in December, Sens. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Kamala Harris (D-CA) expressed concern over the group’s support of defining marriage as being between a man and a woman and the group's opposition to abortion. These positions are both official teachings of the Catholic church.
Anderson told Townhall that he was “greatly surprised” by the senators’ scrutiny and referenced similar criticism that a Democrat, and member of the Knights of Columbus, former president John F. Kennedy had faced decades ago.
“We thought that Sen. John Kennedy when he ran for president back in 1960 kind of put that issue behind us,” he said, “so I don’t think we want to go backward, we want to go forward and their questions really are unfortunate.”

Donald Trump and Mike Pence in Surprise Visit to Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial
President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence made a surprise trip Monday to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.
The president traveled via his motorcade to the monument in Washington, DC, and laid a wreath on the monument as both leaders stood together in a moment of silence.
“Great day. Beautiful day,” Trump remarked to reporters during the visit. “Thank you for being here. Appreciate it.”
In a message to Americans proclaiming the national holiday, President Trump urged everyone to recommit themselves to King’s vision of equality.

Coulter: Black and Hispanic Americans ‘Hurt the Most By Mass, Uncontrolled Immigration’
Syndicated columnist and best selling author Ann Coulter joined Candace Owens to kick off the inaugural Blexit – or Black exit – rally on Sunday in Los Angeles, California, where she ripped President Donald Trump’s critics and the harsh realities of illegal immigration.
“I was just watching Caitlyn Jenner on tv, so I wanted to say that as a proud black woman, I am so happy to be here,” Ann Coulter joked as she was welcomed to the stage by Owens. “I know I may look white on the outside, but I have always identified as black. Considering the other transitions going on these days, I think that’s a lot closer to reality. It’s not even the most outrageous thing I have heard today. At breakfast, I heard someone refer to CNN as a news organization.”

Senate Judiciary Democrats Oppose Investigating Obama-Era FBI
Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats are opposed to possible investigations into President Barack Obama’s administration, according to reports on Monday.
Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has been leading the committee since the start of the new Congress on January 3. He’s expressed an interest over the past couple months in opening investigations into questionable activities that occurred under the former president.
Senate Judiciary Democrats remain steadfastly opposed to this.
“This is going to be like the History Channel, it turns out,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) told The Hill.
“Instead of taking a look at the current issues, Lindsey Graham wants to go back and answer important questions about the Bermuda Triangle and Hillary Clinton,” he also said.

She's 'winning': The press protects Pelosi
PJ Media columnist Jim Treacher once summarized the news media in just 19 words: “Modern journalism is all about deciding which facts the public shouldn’t know because they might reflect badly on Democrats.” Mr. Treacher tweeted that over four years ago.
The sentiment has since been revisited by both “Instapundit” Glenn Reynolds and Gail L. Heriot, a University of San Diego law professor and author of a new academic paper titled “Perceptions of newsworthiness are contaminated by a political usefulness bias.” A story which is useful to the preferred political cause wins approval and attention from the public, and from the press as well.
“Formulaic rules of journalism, while important, do not provide any effective resistance to biases that arise earlier, in the process of deciding which stories are newsworthy enough to deserve coverage in the first place. The current results suggest that biases in this phase might be strong and insidious,” the paper said.
This “usefulness” factor has come into the full flower during the Trump administration. For the second year in a row, an intense Media Research Center study of broadcast news which aired throughout 2018 revealed that 90 percent was “incessantly hostile” toward President Trump. Lots of “usefulness” going on there.
But supposing the press favors the subject in question? Let us cite House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who often gets very kind coverage indeed. Fox News prime-time host Laura Ingraham, in fact, recently offered a lengthy montage of such accolades — which praised Mrs. Pelosi for being “in charge” and a “political genius” for battling Mr. Trump over the southern border wall and other matters.

Planned Parenthood: Abortions Up, Actual Healthcare Services Down
Planned Parenthood's latest annual report shows its abortion rates rose by more than 11,000 last year, casting doubt on claims that it focuses more on routine healthcare than it does on the procedure.
According to the new report, released over the weekend, Planned Parenthood provided 332,757 abortions in 2018, compared to 321,348 in 2016-17, reports The National Review, marking the most abortion the organizations have performed during any year since 2011-12.
When compared to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and the Guttmacher Institute, Planned Parenthood was responsible for one-third to one-half of all abortions performed.
Meanwhile, non-abortion services decreased in almost all categories, including in providing contraception, cancer screenings, and other women's health services, with only treatment and tests for sexually transmitted disease going up.

Shocking Admission By FBI Veteran Shows Why The FBI Shouldn't Exist
On the 18th of November, 1964, the FBI’s appallingly corrupt boss J. Edgar Hoover denounced Martin Luther King Jr. as “the most notorious liar in the country.” A few days later, a Hoover deputy named William Sullivan wrote King a letter posing as a disillusioned follower and using powerful, manipulative language to urge the civil rights leader to commit suicide before evidence of his extramarital affair became public. Enclosed was an FBI recording containing evidence of the affair.
Whenever America celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day we should remind ourselves that it is a known, undisputed fact that the Federal Bureau of Investigation engineered a psyop to manipulate one of the world’s greatest minds into committing suicide. It is also worth reviewing the compelling argument for the case that the FBI was behind King’s assassination as well.
Hoover, who headed the FBI for decades, obsessively despised King on a deeply personal level. He kept files on the civil rights leader in which he’d scribble hateful comments on memos he received about King, apparently for no purpose other than his own gratification and catharsis. On a memo about King receiving the St. Francis peace medal from the Catholic Church, he wrote “This is disgusting.” On the news of King’s meeting with the pope, he scribbled, “I am amazed that the Pope gave an audience to such a degenerate.”
FBI headquarters still wears the name of this childish pig, a brazen admission by the Bureau that it remains very much the same institution which tried to end Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, the same institution which assassinatedBlack Panthers leader Fred Hampton, the same institution which for years ran the unconstitutional COINTELPRO campaign to infiltrate and sabotage dissident political groups, and which has continued to infiltrate dissident political groups, including Black civil rights groups, to this very day.
We received yet another reminder of the FBI’s true face the other day in an interview with its former Deputy Assistant Director Terry Turchie on Fox’s Tucker Carlson Tonight. In a passing tangent largely unrelated to the rest of the interview, Turchie made the following shocking statement in relation to the ongoing Russiagate saga:
“And I think we can expect more of this, because quite honestly the electorate in some places is putting more and more progressives and self-described socialists in positions. And ironically, years ago, when I first got into the FBI, one of the missions of the FBI in its counterintelligence efforts was to try and keep these people out of government. Why? Because we would end up with massive dysfunction and massive disinformation and massive misinformation, and it seems to me that’s where we’re at today.”
Wow.

Why are Democrats opposing Americans in every way?
With the rejection of President Trump’s latest border security compromise Democrats have rejected security for Americans on many different levels.
This set of rejections adds to the growing list of recent weeks in which nearly every decision they make works against the citizens of the United States.
Even after repeated compromises (President Trump moving to a “steel slat” and away from a “wall”) and self-admissions of a barrier’s effectiveness (House Majority Leader Hoyer confessing “well of course walls work,”) they continue to harbor anti-American values and sentiment in their approach towards the current crisis.
Thus far they have rejected the number one demand of the voters in 2016 to reinforce our southern border with a permanent barrier.
They have decided that in order to ensure that they prevent such a barrier from being built that they would prefer to starve government workers merely to spite the American people.
They also decided to attempt to block the President’s lawful right to update the American people on the progress of the nation and what his administration intends to accomplish in 2019.
All three of these moves intentionally hurts Americans, leaves them less safe, and attempts to leave them uninformed in a nation that guarantees transparency.

First ‘Polar Vortex’ Of 2019 Touted As Evidence Of Global Warming. It’s Not
Large swaths of the U.S. are experiencing the first “polar vortex” event of 2019, and The New York Times is out with an article suggesting cold snaps are becoming more frequent because of global warming.
The Times rolled out an article Saturday claiming “[i]f it seems as if these polar freezes are happening more often, you’re right.” Temperatures dipped across the snow-covered Midwest and Northeast where millions of Americans can expect below-zero wind chill.
The Times’ “polar vortex” article, published Saturday, rests heavily on two scientists who “suspect that the more frequent polar vortex breakdowns can be tied to climate change.”
“I’ve been making that argument that winter is shortening, but you’re getting these more intensive periods in that shorter winter,” Judah Cohen, a climate scientist with the firm Atmospheric and Environmental Research, told the Times.

Double Standard Revealed in Media Attack on Karen Pence’s Christianity
The media have complained for months that the president is unfair to them. They have even referred to him as the “divider in chief.” But what about the media’s divisive behavior to those Americans who identify as Christians?
The media sunk to a new low when they attacked second lady Karen Pence this week for her decision to teach art at a Christian school in Virginia.
CNN’s chief national correspondent John King even questioned whether or not Pence should receive taxpayer-funded security protection or government housing because she is working for a Christian school.
While the left has won many policy and legal battles over cultural issues, the attacks on Pence demonstrate that for them, tolerance is not enough. Simply holding views—or following lifestyles—that conflict with ever-evolving progressive dogma is deemed unacceptable.
Under this formula, the media aims to outright expunge serious Christians from public life. This follows the treatment of Christian judicial nominees who have been increasingly subjected to unconstitutional religious tests as a barrier to office.

Horrifying fireball at ruptured Mexico oil pipeline kills 21
A massive fireball that engulfed people scooping up fuel spilling from a pipeline ruptured by thieves in central Mexico killed 21 people and badly burned 71 others in what was a chronicle of a tragedy foretold.
It came just three weeks after new President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador launched an offensive against fuel theft gangs that drilled dangerous, illegal taps into pipelines an astounding 12,581 times in the first 10 months of 2018, an average of about 42 per day.
With crowds of townspeople often involved, either aiding thieves or collecting spilled fuel in primitive containers, it was only a matter of time before a fire occurred.
In fact, they have occurred before, but seldom with the scale and horrifying death toll of Friday's fire in the state of Hidalgo, which came as people collected the spilled gasoline in buckets, plastic jugs, and garbage cans.
The leak was caused by an illegal pipeline tap in the small town of Tlahuelilpan, about 62 miles (100 kilometers) north of Mexico City, according to state oil company Petroleos Mexicanos, or Pemex.
Video footage showed dozens of residents in an almost festive atmosphere as whole families gathered in a field as a geyser of fuel spouted dozens of feet into the air from the tap.
Hidalgo Gov. Omar Fayad said 21 people were killed immediately and 71 suffered burns in the blast at the duct that carries fuel — apparently gasoline — from the Gulf coast to Tula, a city just north of Mexico City.

The Women's March has twisted feminism into toxic femininity
As campaigns against "toxic" manhood continue in this #MeToo era, few people talk about "toxic" femininity. Unfortunately, this is because the poison of modern-day feminism has convinced a malleable culture that masculinity should be denigrated. Somehow, eschewing half of society is how equality will finally be achieved.
One culprit in this misaligned crusade is the Women's March. What began as a response to President Trump's election and his questionable behavior toward women has morphed into a symbol of another sickness, that of toxic femininity. The organizers of the Women's March insist they promote equality, diversity, and freedom — while contradicting these values with their words and actions. Included on their page of unity principles are the terms human rights, gender justice/gender norms, racial justice, and reproductive freedom.
Meanwhile, women directly associated with the campaign's very formulation, Tamika Mallory and Sharia-law-loving Linda Sarsour, are unabashed anti-Semites. Mallory, who reveres the blatantly racist Louis Farrakhan, refused to publicly condemn his words of hate during a recent exchange on "The View" with Meghan McCain. Mallory even tried to cover up her clear endorsement of hate by making it a gender issue and stating that she "should never be judged through the lens of a man."

Amazon pushing hard into ocean shipping, making it easier for Chinese goods to get to you
SAN FRANCISCO — Quietly and below the radar, Amazon has been ramping up its ocean shipping service, sending close to 4.7 million cartons of consumers goods from China to the United States over the past year, records show.
This marks a significant move into what many believe is the company’s overall strategy of eventually controlling much of its transportation network, from trucks to airplanes and now to ships.
As of the beginning of 2018, Amazon’s freight shipping arm has shipped over 5,300 shipping containers from China to the United States. Those containers mark Amazon’s push into the fragmented and convoluted ocean freight market, allowing it to offer companies manufacturing in China a soup-to-nuts service that eliminates almost all other middlemen on the way to the U.S. Consumer.
“This makes them the only e-commerce company that is able to do the whole transaction from end-to-end. Amazon now has a closed ecosystem,” said Steve Ferreira, CEO of Ocean Audit, a company that utilizes data and machine learning to find ocean freight refunds for the Fortune 500. His research first uncovered the increase, based on data from shipping databases, including Distribution Publications, Inc. And ImportGenius.com.
It's a major advantage for Amazon and its founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, say experts.
“Nobody else has even come close to approaching this. There is no Walmart ocean freight,” said Michael Zakkour, executive vice president for global digital commerce with Tompkins International, a supply chain consulting company.

We Hear You: The President's Border Standoff With Democrats
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the two clowns in the rebuttal to President Trump’s speech, cried about government employees’ not being able to pay their bills or mortgages and feed their families.
What’s the commonsense policy my parents taught? Put one-third of each paycheck into the bank or savings for a rainy day.
Well, government employees, today is your rainy day. Just go and use your nest egg, cut back a little. You’ll survive.
Or maybe give Nancy a call, and she could lend you a few of her billions.—Marty Miller

What makes a liberal want to punch a child?
The progressive media don't care about what really happened when they have white boys in MAGA caps to hate.
If someone walks up to you and bangs a drum in your face, are you guilty of harassing the drummer? You might be if you’re white and wearing a MAGA hat. Just a day after rushing to judgment about a Buzzfeed story that claimed President Trump had instructed Michael Cohen to lie to Congress—a story Robert Mueller’s own office subsequently debunked, the blue-checkmark media elite had a new instant narrative to promote. It was a tale perfectly tailored to liberal biases: white Catholic teenagers in MAGA hats had harassed an old and frail Indian veteran during the March for Life, which was also the date of an Indigenous People’s March.
Buzzfeed had just two anonymous sources, purportedly in “law-enforcement,” for its story, which a few brave souls found to be rather too little to justify the attendant hype. The contrarians appear to have been right, but what Buzzfeed misreported was so perfectly attuned to elite and progressive anti-Trump sensibilities that no hesitation was necessary before accepting the tale as true.
No lessons were learned from the story’s collapse, either, to judge by the frenzy that next broke out from the same sort of people over the case of Covington Catholic High School and Native American activist Nathan Phillips. Once again, enlightened opinion did not wait on much evidence before reaching a verdict: a one-minute video clip of a teen in a red MAGA hat smirking right in front of Phillips while the elder beat a hand drum and sang was all the proof required. This was a hate-motivated outrage perpetrated by white Trump supporters. Case closed.
The narrative assumed that the Covington boys had surrounded Philips and stood right in his face, grinning in silent insult. When asecond video seemed to show that it was in fact Phillips who had approached the teens, it received even less attention — much as those few voices of caution about Buzzfeed’s fable were ignored by the true believers. But there are more videos, including one that’s nine-minutes long and provides a great deal of interesting context.

Ebola outbreak in Eastern Congo is moving toward a major city
At least 680 people have been infected with the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It’s the second-largest Ebola outbreak in history, with 414 deaths so far, and the first Ebola outbreak in an active war zone, DRC’s eastern North Kivu and Ituri provinces.
But it could get worse: Health officials this week are concerned that Ebola appears to be spreading in the direction of Goma, a major population center in DRC.
Just this week, DRC’s health ministry confirmed four cases of the deadly virus in Kayina, a town in North Kivu, where fighting among rebel and militia groups has repeatedly interrupted the painstaking work of health workers who are responding to the outbreak.
Kayina happens to be halfway between Butembo, currently one of the outbreak’s most worrisome hotspots, and Goma, where a million people live.

The protesters, who claim to have received the support of Pope Francis and several French bishops, gathered in the French capital on Sunday as they joined the 13th March for Life.
Organizers urged doctors across the country to use their “conscientious objection” and stop performing abortions.
About 200,000 abortions are performed every year in France.

'So petrified of the lefties ... she has lost control'
President Trump said in a Sunday tweetstorm that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has lost control of her party, becoming a “Radical Democrat” in order to appease the Democrat Party’s far left.
“Nancy Pelosi has behaved so irrationally & has gone so far to the left that she has now officially become a Radical Democrat,” tweeted Mr. Trump. “She is so petrified of the ‘lefties’ in her party that she has lost control … And by the way, clean up the streets in San Francisco, they are disgusting!”
His tweet came after Ms. Pelosi rejected his Saturday border-security and immigration deal, calling his proposals a “non-starter” that would likely fail in the House.
Mr. Trump noted that Democrats, including Ms. Pelosi, turned down his offer even before he made his televised speech, saying that they “don’t see crime & drugs, they only see 2020 - which they are not going to win.”

Frizzy Hair, Frazzled Nerves: Women Need 82 Extra Minutes A Day To Get Everything Done!
The chorus to the Whitney Houston classic “I’m Every Woman” may need to be updated to, “I’m every woman, I’m so busy!” That’s because a new survey finds with all the things filling her daily to-do list, the average woman needs far more than 24 hours to accommodate her jam-packed schedule.
More specifically, the survey of 2,000 American women, commissioned by skin and hair product company Garnier Fructis, found that women would require 82 extra minutes a day just to complete all the daily tasks they set out to do.
The survey’s results showed that women still shoulder the bulk of domestic tasks, and are getting busier. More than half of the respondents (55%) said they feel too busy to keep up with all ongoing tasks — which include chaperoning children, running errands, managing work, or catching up with friends. Seven in ten respondents always feel rushed when they’re getting ready to leave the house.
And despite all the running around, the researchers found that the average woman has 19 days per month where things just don’t go as planned.
Overall, mornings were by far the busiest part of the day for those surveyed, with a typical morning routine requiring 55 minutes of their time.

The Democrat Party is extinct but for illegal immigration
I am reminded of the battle at Helm's Deep from The Lord of the Rings. There are only two other cinematic scenes that come close: the gun battle in downtown Los Angeles in Heat and the taking of the beaches in Saving Private Ryan. Helm's Deep is probably one of the greatest war scenes in all of movie-making history.
Backs against the wall, Théoden's forces were faced with an existential threat of wave after wave of never-ending combatants who laid siege to the wall.
The Deeping Wall protects the Deep behind the Keep, this is the only escape for the Defenders.
Sauron knew that if the wall was breached, then his invading forces could take the Hornburg. Better, then, would be to keep one's main focus on the wall.
The tactical importance of walls should seem obvious. Even Sun Tzu wrote about the exhaustion of trying to overcome walls:
Thus the highest form of generalship is to balk the enemy's plans; the next best is to prevent the junction of the enemy's forces; the next in order is to attack the enemy's army in the field; and the worst policy of all is to besiege walled cities.
They should be avoided at all cost.
And here again:
The rule is, not to besiege walled cities if it can possibly be avoided. The preparation of mantlets, movable shelters, and various implements of war, will take up three whole months; and the piling up of mounds over against the walls will take three months more.
Laying siege to walled cities is costly. And while natural barriers like rivers, cliffs, and mountains are good, well constructed ramparts are nearly impossible to defeat.

Twitter Tiki Torch Mob Rages Against Christians
Just when you think political discourse in America could not possibly get any dumber. Or more dishonest.
Along comes an(other) angry, bigoted mob.
First, they got whipped up by last week’s decision by second lady Karen Pence to return to teaching. At a private Christian school, this being America and all. You know, the birthplace of religious freedom and tolerance.
The ensuing meltdown was astonishing, even by today’s moronic standards of public debate. By the end of the week, the phrase “Expose Christian Schools” went viral.
If only there were an ointment or a cure or a prophylactic for such a nasty virus. It makes people dumb and thoughtless and impairs their judgment.
Left untreated, this virus causes people to froth at the mouth and spit invective at innocent strangers. Most often, this virus is associated with untreated, advanced-stage Trump Derangement Syndrome.
In mob form — particularly in the safety of online “forums” — those suffering from this virus become fully infantile, develop deep paranoia and will lash out at complete strangers with ignorant, bigoted, racial and religious animus.
You know, the sort of behavior that is not accepted in any polite society any more today.

Covington Student Being Targeted By Media Releases Statement
Nick Sandman, the Covington Catholic High School student who has been targeted by Democrats, leftist celebrities and creepy journalists has released a statement about the incident in which a Native American man harassed him and banged a drum in his face.
He explained that prior to the Native American man confronting them, a group of African American protesters had confronted them.
“The protesters said hateful things. They called us ‘racists,’ ‘bigots,’ ‘white crackers,’ ‘f-ggots,’ and ‘incest kids.’ They also taunted an African American student from my school by telling him that we would ‘harvest his organs.’ I have no idea what that insult means, but it was startling to hear,” the statement explained.
Sandmann continued, “because we were being loudly attacked and taunted in public, a student in our group asked one of our teacher chaperones for permission to begin our school spirit chants to counter the hateful things that were being shouted at our group. The chants are commonly used at sporting events. They are all positive in nature and sound like what you would hear at any high school. Our chaperone gave us permission to use our school chants. We would not have done it without obtaining permission from the adults in charge of our group.”

We’re well past the point of urging the press to do better. Something is seriously wrong
The news media in the United States are horribly, perhaps irrevocably, broken.
In the past 72 hours, there have been two major, all-consuming news cycles based on either inaccurate or outright false allegations. Equally distressing as the fact that the press promoted these stories, despite obvious red flags, is that some reporters continue to cling to the original bogus narratives. Because when it comes to accusations leveled against President Trump and conservatives, many in the nation’s largest and most powerful newsrooms are less arbiters of the truth and more active participants in the toxic, hyperpartisan culture wars.
The first major news cycle came Thursday evening after BuzzFeed News published a report titled, “President Trump Directed His Attorney Michael Cohen To Lie To Congress About The Moscow Tower Project.”
The press went wild, enthusiastically sharing and repeating the story’s central claim, ignoring all the while that it is based entirely on the say-so of two anonymous sources who say they’re familiar with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. Newsrooms eagerly parroted the BuzzFeed News article despite its authors contradicting each other over whether they had actually seen proof of the allegation made by their anonymous sources.
The three networks, ABC, CBS, and NBC News, dedicated an impressive 27 minutes Friday to covering the report. The talking heads at CNN and MSNBC used the word “impeach” roughly 200 times Friday morning and afternoon while discussing how they thought the article would play out for the White House. Laughably enough, newsrooms and pundits also referred to the story as a “ bombshell” while also leaning heavily on the “ if true” qualifier.
Then came Friday evening.

Kentucky student seen in viral confrontation with Native American speaks out
The Kentucky high school student seen in a viral video standing-face-to-face with a Native American protester at a Washington rally spoke out for the first time Sunday evening, claiming in a statement that he and his classmates were taunted by a group of African-American protesters and saying that he and his family had received death threats.
Nick Sandmann, a junior at Covington Catholic High School, said he was "mortified that so many people have come to believe something that did not happen -- that students from my school were chanting or acting in a racist fashion toward African Americans or Native Americans. I did not do that, do not have hateful feelings in my heart and did not witness any of my classmates doing that."
"I am being called every name in the book, including a racist, and I will not stand for this mob-like character assassination of my family's name," Sandmann said. " ... One person threatened to harm me at school and one person claims to live in my neighborhood. My parents are receiving death and professional threats because of the social media mob that has formed over this issue."

Democrats ignore the people who know the border best: Border agents
Democrats show no interest in solving illegal immigration, and they downplay the drug and humanitarian problems it causes, yet liberals in the media never ask them to explain why.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has so far said she’s unwilling to do anything on immigration, so long as the White House refuses to sign a bill funding the small portion of the government that’s been shut down for a month.
As agents here at the southernmost point of Texas will tell you, the way to deter smugglers from bringing in drugs and undocumented immigrants from Mexico is to install cameras, strategically place personnel, and build a physical barrier.
In the Rio Grande Valley Sector, where illegal crossing apprehensions are tens of thousands higher than anywhere else, they have pieces of all three of these. But what they’re asking for first and foremost is more wall.
“This area used to be almost unmanageable, a lot worse,” border agent Hermann Rivera told me Friday. I asked him what made the difference. “The wall,” he said.
Division chief John Morris said the same thing. When they say “wall,” they’re referring to a 25-foot-high barrier that was first built around 2005. It acts as a reinforcement for levies that help prevent flooding from the Rio Grande.
There is about 12 feet of concrete that comes up, vertical with the levee. Atop that is another 13 feet of steel slats, placed side by side.
Agents at the border say they want more of it. The White House says they can have it. Democrats say they can’t. Why?

Soros-Funded Groups Leading BDS War on Jewish State
Financing tied to billionaire activist George Soros is a common yet largely under-reported theme among organizations that lead or support the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign attempting to delegitimize the Jewish state.
In January, Israel released a list of 20 BDS-supporting organizations whose members will be banned from entering Israel due to their BDS activism, prominently featuring six American groups. At least four of the six BDS-promoting U.S. groups receive funding tied to Soros. Scores of other U.S. organizations that support the BDS movement are financed by Soros.
The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) is a central proponent of anti-Israel BDS activism on college campuses and in churches, boasting a mission that exclaims active support for “boycott and divestment campaigns that target companies complicit in the occupation.”

Hillary's Dark Money Group Relies Heavily on Six Donors and Campaign Money
Tax forms show more than 40 percent of funds came from the six donors and Hillary for America
The dark money nonprofit launched by Hillary Clinton following her defeat against Donald Trump relied heavily on just six donors and an $800,000 money transfer from her former presidential campaign committee during its first year, according to tax forms provided to the Washington Free Beacon.
Clinton's nonprofit, the New York-based Onward Together, was incorporated on April 24, 2017, by Marc Elias, a prominent Democratic lawyer and partner at the Washington, D.C.-based Perkins Coie law firm, filings show. Elias served as Clinton's top campaign lawyer.
Clinton launched Onward Together to allow her to be a part of the resistance against Trump and to encourage "people to organize, get involved, and run for office." The group would additionally send money to already established liberal groups who could provide direct action against Trump and Republicans.
The Free Beacon first attempted to obtain Onward Together's 2017 tax forms over a month ago but did not receive a response at the time. However, a search of state filings in North Carolina showed that the group had taken in just $3.1 million in contributions during its inaugural year.

Thousands of Migrants Crossing Remote Section of New Mexico Border
El Paso Sector Border Patrol officials report that at least 2,500 migrants illegally crossed the border along a small section of the New Mexico Border. The migrants crossed the border this fiscal year as part of large groups of Central American families and unaccompanied minors near the Antelope Wells Port of Entry.
In an area that normally only sees a few hundred illegal border crossings per year, El Paso Sector officials reported that 25 large groups of migrants crossed the border near the Antelope Wells Port of Entry in the first few months of Fiscal Year 2019. The Border Patrol defines a “large group” as more than 100 people, FOX14 reported.
Officials told the local Fox affiliate that smugglers have started using the large groups of migrants as a distraction to tie up Border Patrol agents while they smuggle drugs across the border elsewhere.

WALSH: 4 Lessons We Can Learn From The Despicable Smear Campaign Against The Covington Catholic Students
On Saturday, the whole country was furious at a bunch of kids from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky. The media, leading the charge, claimed that the teenaged boys accosted and harassed a group of Native Americans in DC. We were told that the boys surrounded and taunted and mocked them while chanting "build the wall."
Why did the students do this? How did it come up? What was the context? What led to it? What's the other side of the story? Well, these are all important questions but not questions that many people — especially in the media — bothered to ask in the first 24 hours of the story going viral. All we had was the isolated narrative and a short video clip that was supposed to depict this act of unspeakable bigotry but only actually depicted a bunch of white kids goofing around while a Native American man played his drum. A great many headlines claimed that the video "shows" teens in MAGA hats harassing a Native American man. It didn't show that. It showed the MAGA hats, yes, but nothing that could be clearly discerned as mocking or harassing.

NYC Restaurants Slash Staff over $15 Minimum Wage
New York City restaurants, feeling the pinch of trying to make ends meet, are slashing their staff after a state law that took effect at the end of 2018 is mandating restaurants with 11 or more workers to pay a $15 an hour minimum wage.
The legal minimum wage in New York City rose from $13 to $15 on December 31, 2018, giving workers a temporary hourly raise while forcing employers to cut those employees’ hours to make ends meet.
The wage hike is the city’s third since December 31, 2016, when the city’s minimum wage rose to $11 an hour.

The Madness of Crowds and What Lies Ahead
In his 1841 book Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds, Scottish journalist Charles Mackay chronicled the history of the phenomena we now see gripping the Resistance movement to the Trump presidency. Writing on national delusions, moral panics, economic bubbles, and herd behavior, Mackay observed, "We find that whole communities suddenly fix their minds upon one object, and go mad in its pursuit; that millions of people become simultaneously impressed with one delusion, and run after it, till their attention is caught by some new folly more captivating than the first."
Mackay documents the manias that made traders turn tulips into the most expensive objects on earth in the mid-1600s, caused Christian communities in the American colonies to torture and execute "witches," and caused European nobles to sponsor alchemists to turn base metals into gold (and imprison them until they succeeded). Of these and many other episodes of mass hysteria, Mackay wrote, "Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one."
In the present madness commonly known as "Trump Derangement Syndrome," the Resistance is led, in order of influence, by Hollywood entertainers, New York City journalists, and Washington Democrat politicians. By any objective measure, all three groups have failed utterly at their primary jobs to entertain, inform, and lead – at least in any way that inspires, educates, or solves problems. Instead, the most notable features of these groups is their desperate need for attention (in an age of unprecedented media saturation) and their obsession with being seen as morally superior to us commoners – the latter to justify the former. Two ingredients combined to create the alchemy of madness now consuming our national politics.

Straka at Women’s March ‘Mob’: ‘Most Don’t Really Know Why They’re Here’
Brandon Straka, founder of the #WalkAway campaign encouraging Americans to leave the Democrat Party and left-wing ideology, told Breitbart News on Saturday that many participants in the Women’s March in Washington, DC, “don’t really know why they’re here.”
Straka joked, “I came out here today in the freezing cold so that I could be a part of this beautiful Women’s March which celebrates all women regardless of their political beliefs, or if they’re pro-life. It’s just the warmest vibe that you get here today at the women’s march. I’m just kidding. It’s actually just an anti-Trump rally.”
Straka outlined what he called “the arrogance of liberalism and feminists,” by pointing to the fact they “believe that they are more evolved than other women. I think they naturally feel like they speak on behalf of all women, and that any women who don’t agree with their point of view, any women who are pro-life, pro-our president, or pro-this administration are very, very stupid, and therefore don’t deserve to have an opinion, anyway.”
Straka added, “I think in their minds, through their arrogance, they believe that they’re the only women who really have the right to have a point of view, and that they speak on behalf of everybody.”
Straka shared some anecdotes from the Women’s March, “A lot of these women will blatantly tell you that they’re here because they hate Trump."

ICE yanked Anne Arundel's jail contract in retaliation for ending immigration screening
Federal immigration officials say Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman undermined their public safety mission by ending participation in the 287(g) program, which trained corrections officers to screen inmates for immigration violations.
In a statement emailed to The Capital, a spokesman for the agency said the decision to end a contract with the county for housing immigration detainees was directly tied to Pittman’s decision to stop participating in the screening program.
“ICE looks to partner with counties that are willing to cooperate in support of our public safety mission and believes the (county’s) decision to terminate the agreement undermines this mission,” Vincent Picard, acting assistant director for ICE Public Affairs, wrote late Friday.
The statement by ICE is the first public explanation of the decision to end the contract and comes just days before the County Council is expected to consider two resolutions asking Pittman to reconsider.
The county executive announced last month that he was ending the county’s participation in 287(g) in the Ordnance Road Corrections Center in Glen Burnie.
He also announced that he wanted to continue a separate contract, which paid the county to house 130 ICE detainees awaiting immigration status hearings in Baltimore.

Ohr's testimony on anti-Trump dossier at odds with Schiff's version
Senior Justice Department official Bruce Ohr has provided a point-by-point narrative of his actions promoting the 2016 Democratic Party-financed dossier that conflicts with Rep. Adam B. Schiff’s official version, according to a comparison of the two.
Mr. Schiff, a California Democrat and chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence who has promised a wide investigation of President Trump, issued a memo last year on the FBI’s early-on investigation into the Republican’s campaign.
It was a counter to a report issued Feb. 2 by Rep. Devin Nunes, a California Republican who was chairing the committee.
He accused the FBI of improperly relying on a partisan document compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele, who was paid by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democrat National Committee. Mr. Nunes said the FBI failed to tell judges that the dossier was basically a Democrat Party product. Mr. Steele remains on the payroll of wealthy liberal donors trying to unseat Mr. Trump.
Mr. Schiff’s rebuttal report downplayed the dossier’s role. His version was overwhelmingly accepted by the liberal media, which declared the Nunes memo “debunked.”

Peek: Two years of Trump hatred and Democrats' 'resistance' has accomplished what, exactly?
Barron’s reports that the cost of the partial government shutdown has now exceeded the $5.7 billion President Trump requested for his wall. That is how stupid Democrats’ “resistance” has become.
Two years ago, Donald J. Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States. Almost immediately thereafter, Democrats fastened on obstructing every single proposal from Mr. Trump as their party’s primary platform. Who could have imagined that two years in, hatred of the president would still be rolling across the country like a wrecking ball, undermining the integrity of the FBI and credibility of our courts, corroding our politics, and utterly destroying the fair-mindedness of the press?
From the moment Trump was elected, protests spread all over the U.S. and in many countries overseas. In the weeks that followed, students boycotted classes, activists blocked roads, the president’s name was stripped from his buildings, and one overwrought man set himself on fire – all to protest Trump’s election by 63 million Americans.
And the liberal media lost their minds.
Trump’s sin? Beating the “inevitable” Hillary Clinton, daring to suggest that open borders were a stain on the country’s rule of law, proposing that carefully vetting immigrants from some Muslim-majority countries known to be terror havens might help protect Americans from ISIS, disputing the value of the Paris Climate Accord, and making crude remarks about women in a decade-old recording.

Dems Who Slammed GOP Over Kavanaugh Attended Puerto Rico Trip with Cardenas
Some of the same Democrats who accused Republicans of white-washing sexual misconduct allegations against Justice Brett Kavanaugh left town during the shutdown to attend a weekend 'retreat' in Puerto Rico organized by a senior Democrat being sued by a woman who claims he drugged and molested her when she was 16.
The Democrats cannot claim they don't know about the allegations. Eight months ago, now-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) publicly called for a House Ethics Committee investigation into the molestation allegations against Rep. Tony Cardenas (D., Calif.). The panel has yet to formally launch a probe.
Cardenas is the chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus's BOLD PAC, which organized and hosted the winter retreat in San Juan where some 30 Democrats, including Cardenas, mingled with 109 lobbyists and corporate executives during the government shutdown.
Last week, the woman suing Cardenas over the sexual misconduct allegations identified herself for the first time as 28-year-old Angela Villela Chavez and called for a House ethics inquiry.

Trump Must Go to the Mat Over Liberal Judge’s Ruling on Census Question
A Manhattan district court judge earlier this week blocked the Trump administration from adding a question on citizenship to the 2020 census, and in doing so has sought to weaken executive power while strengthening the administrative state.
The Trump administration has one choice here: Overturn this judicial overreach through appeal.
The decision was biased and based on selective evidence. It needs to be overturned and corrected at once.
As Judge Jesse M. Furman of the Southern District of New York himself observed in his ruling, “Time is of the essence because the Census Bureau needs to finalize the 2020 questionnaire by June of this year.”
