One Nation Under God

"One Nation" painting

This is an incredible painting by Jon McNaughton.

This painting represents McNaughton's response to criticism of "One Nation Under God."

Read the explanation below the painting and then view the painting.

You can move the mouse over any person and the right side of the screen gives a description of that person. Even the sheets of paper on the floor, beside the Supreme Court Judge, have an explanation.

Notice Jesus Christ in the center with his garments explained.
Notice Jesus Christ holding the U.S. Constitution.
Satan is also in the painting. Can you find him?
This is awesome ! ! !

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear..
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..

To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."
"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at 'Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall.."

" So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

First Congressional District Poll

TO: SEN. ANDY HARRIS
FROM: BRIAN C. TRINGALI
KEVIN HUDAK
RE: FRANK KRATOVIL NOT LIKELY TO RETURN TO CONGRESS
DATE: NOVEMBER 19, 2009
______________________________________________________________________________

The Tarrance Group is pleased to present the following findings from our latest survey of voters across Maryland’s First Congressional District. The Andy Harry for U.S. Congress campaign commissioned The Tarrance Group to conduct a telephone survey of N=300 “likely” voters throughout the district. A random sample of this type is likely to yield a margin of error of +5.8% in 95 out of 100 cases. Responses to the survey were gathered November 15-17 – although few respondents were called on Monday because of a Ravens game that evening.

Incumbent Democrat Congressman Frank Kratovil is not likely to be a part of the next Congress once it is convened in 2011. Kratovil has had a tough time of it since his election to the open seat last year. The evidence of this is borne out by our most recent survey of Maryland’s First Congressional District.

Despite his close loss in 2008, if the election for U.S. Congress were held today, Andy Harris would be elected with a clear majority of the vote. Fifty-two percent (52%) of the voters are supportive of Harris, even before the race has heated up. Kratovil garners just 39% of the vote today.

At the same time, 88% of the voters have heard of Andy Harris – in part because of his previous campaign in 2008. In addition, Dr. Harris has been working hard already this cycle and has clearly benefitted from his early start on the 2010 contest.

HISTORICAL COMMENTS BY GEORGE CHEVALLIER

THE WICOMICO HOTEL

The tallest structure in the city of Salisbury is the former Wicomico Hotel. Construction on it started in 1923 and it was officially opened on October 24, 1924. The hotel was an impressive Renaissance Revival Style building that had 150 rooms within its 7 floors. It was advertised as the “Eastern Shore’s Finest and Most Complete Hotel” when opened. The hotel also had the very popular “Commodious Convention Hall”, in addition to a complete coffee shop, lounge, and fine dining rooms.

It was financed as a community project by 1005 shareholders, who were informed that their investment may never pay a monetary dividend.

The dining room, with its ornate style of hospitality, also provided dinner music. It was provided nightly in an upscale setting. The local chamber music ensemble played there occasionally as well as at parties and dances in the ballroom on the seventh floor. The make-up of the ensemble reads like a who’s who of Salisbury. From the College were Dr. Thomas Carruthers playing the cello and Ben Maggs on the clarinet. Marie Allen and Bettie Morris, along with Ruth Truitt playing violins. Ruth Truitt soon left to take up a position with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra where she remained for 52 years. Her sister Jane played the piano and Richard Cooper, the pre-eminent Salisbury historian, manned the bass violin. Mr. Cooper recalled fondly that they would play for the occasional black-tie dinner party for the Wicomico Hunt Club.

Besides providing lodging for the weary traveler and sustenance for anyone who wished, the hotel building also had a barber shop and tap room in the basement. It also had a Cigar and Newsstand. It had commercial stores on the ground floor. The Western Union Telegraph Co., Schleisner Co. and the W. S. Gordy, Jr. Insurance Co. occupied these stores in the first few years of the Wicomico Hotel’s existence. Mr. Schleisner’s daughter, Sue, married John Hess. The store was eventually named Hess Apparrel and was a fixture in Salisbury at many locations for many years.

It ceased to be a hotel on January 1, 1969 when it was acquired by Peninsula Properties and turned into an office building and is now known as One Plaza East.

The seventh floor ballroom is presently being restored at great expense by a local attorney for his office, conference room, law library, and two additional offices available for rent. The ornate ceiling can still bring back memories of a grander time.

Stamp Malfunction

The Postal Services created a stamp with a picture of President Obama on it. The Postal Service noticed that the stamp was not sticking to envelopes. This enraged the President, who demanded a full investigation. After a month of testing and $1.73 million in congressional spending, a special Presidential commission presented the following findings:

The stamp is in perfect order.

There is nothing wrong with the glue.

People are spitting on the wrong side.

ABA Backs Federal Court Trials Of Alleged 9/11 Plotters

The president of the American Bar Association sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. today praising the decision to pursue federal court prosecutions of five Guantanamo detainees with alleged ties to the 9/11 attacks.

The Nov. 25 letter, signed by ABA President Carolyn Lamm, comes after Holder became the target of criticism from conservative politicians for his decision to try alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the others in New York.

The letter calls the military commissions before which the detainees were originally charged “constitutionally flawed” and lauds the U.S. court system as “well-equipped to handle trials of this magnitude.”

“[N]o matter how heinous the charges, the long awaited trials of these alleged terrorists must be both fair and perceived as fair, or the resulting verdicts will not be recognized as legitimate,” the letter reads. “The accused must receive the competent assistance of counsel, be afforded due process, and treated as innocent until proven guilty.”
Lamm was not immediately available for comment.

The ABA posted the letter in its entirety on its Web site.

Divorce Rates Among Military Members Continues To Rise

The divorce rate in the armed forces increased slightly again in the past year as military marriages continued to bear the stress of the nation's ninth year at war.

In the 2009 fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, there were an estimated 27,312 divorces among the nearly 765,000 married members of the active-duty Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, according to figures provided by the Pentagon on Friday.

That's a divorce rate of about 3.6 percent, compared with 3.4 percent a year earlier. Marriages among reservists failed at a rate of 2.8 percent compared to 2.7 the previous year, according to figures from the Defense Manpower Data Center.

"The changes from 2008 to 2009 are relatively small," said Air Force Maj. April Cunningham, a Defense Department spokeswoman. She said the increase was held down by myriad programs offered by the service branches to help couples.

"All military services have a variety of programs focused on strengthening and/or enriching family bonds among couples," she said. "We believe these programs are instrumental in mitigating the stresses deployment places on marriages."

Still, the figures show a slow but steady upward trend in recent years.

Friday's reported 3.6 percent rate is a full percentage point above the 2.6 percent reported in 2001, just as the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on America propelled the United States into the war in Afghanistan.

"The force is under tremendous stress, and that stress finds its way into marriages," said Joe Davis, spokesman for the organization Veterans of Foreign Wars.

There's no comparable annual system for tracking the national or civilian divorce rate, though the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in 2005 that 43 percent of all first marriages end in divorce within 10 years.

"Every marriage has controllable and uncontrollable factors," Mr. Davis said. "But when you interject eight years of war, preparing for war, being at war, coming home and having to think about going back to war again - and when you have children - it just has a tremendous impact on the family unit."

WHY NO NEWS ABOUT FT HOOD SHOOTER

Nidal Hasan on Obama's Security Task Force..............

Now we have a little insight into why Obama said to not jump to conclusions about Nidal Hasan and why Congressmen were not briefed before the press leak.

This murdering Muslim Terrorist who killed and wounded the soldiers and civilians at Ft Hood, Texas was an advisor to Obama's Homeland Security team. Look on page 29 of the Homeland Security Institute link below.

I wonder how many more skeletons there are to come out of the cupboard. Who else is there in the government or its numerous advisors or Czars that will harm our country and citizens?

http://www.gwumc.edu/hspi/old/PTTF_ProceedingsReport_05.19.09.pdf Go to page number 29 (actual page in report), scroll down toward the bottom on the Left Column

He is listed under "THINKING A NEW- SECURITY PRIORITIES FOR THE NEXT ADMINISTRATION", as Nidal Hasan, Uniformed Services University School of Medicine (8TH DOWN ON LEFT COLUMN PAGE 29).

Please send this link to everybody on your email list. The world needs to know who Obama really is.

RETARDED GRANDPARENTS

After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school.

One child wrote the following:

We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa.

They used to live in a big brick house but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to Arizona .

Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass. They ride around on their bicycles and wear name tags because they don't know who they are anymore.

They go to a building called a wreck center, but they must have got it fixed because it is all okay now, they do exercises there, but they don't do them very well.

There is a swimming pool too, but they all jump up and down in it with hats on.

At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it. He watches all day so nobody can escape.

Sometimes they sneak out, and go cruising in their golf carts.

Nobody there cooks, they just eat out.

And, they eat the same thing every night --- early birds.

Some of the people can't get out past the man in the doll house.

The ones who do get out, bring food back to the wrecked center for pot luck.

My Grandma says that Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment and says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too..

When I earn my retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house.

Then I will let people out, so they can visit their grandchildren.

ONCE UPON A TIME, IN WASHINGTON

Once upon a time, our government worked together for the common good. The bill of rights (first ten amendments) was added to the Constitution in order to reach unity of purpose. In my lifetime I witnessed, for better or worse, Tip O'Neil working with Ronald Reagan, Ted Kennedy working with George W Bush and even Bill Clinton working with Newt Gingrich.

Enter the era of Pelosi. She with stalwarts such as Waxman, Waters, Frank, Murtha and on the Senate side, Reid, Schumer, Dodd, Leahy and Boxer have succeeded in turning governing into a winner take all game. If they, with Obama, truly believed this is a great country, why would they be calling for FUNDAMENTAL change?

There certainly are problems that need to be addressed. Most were either caused by the congress or were a failure of government agencies to exercise oversight, thus allowing companies to abuse the public trust. I find it difficult to believe that any fix would require over 2,000 pages of legalize to correct. Why the mad rush to pass legislation to correct a problem that took a hundred years to develop? Is the answer simply to get it passed before anyone knows what they are doing?

The first step in problem solving is to determine who owns the problem. If it were a public company whose problem was rooted in prior ownership, it is the present owner that bears responsibility. In the case of our country it is the present Congress and administration. I wonder why I can find no legislation that makes it criminal for a President or Congressman to lie to the public.

Goodbye To AARP

Dear Mr. Rand,

Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. I know it is not what you were looking for, but this is the most honest response I can give you. Our gap in coverage is merely a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith.

While we have proudly maintained our membership for several years and have long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse its abdication of our values. Your letter specifically stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours. Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary.. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.

Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy.. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama administration and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there!

We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces whom we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities.

This Presidential Administration scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage, but even more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never in my life endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don't have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities it requires.

Your website generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? Someone has broken into our 'house', invaded our home without our invitation or consent. The President has insisted we keep the perpetrator in comfort and learn the perp language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them.

I DON'T choose to welcome them.
I DON'T choose to support them.
I DON'T choose to educate them.
I DON'T choose to medicate them, pay for their food or clothing.

American home invaders get arrested.

Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get?

Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break & enter to be welcomed?

We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current administration. One of us is out of touch with mainstream America . Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than one which is power driven.

We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you..

I am disappointed as hell.
I am scared as hell.
I am MAD as hell, and I'm NOT gonna take it anymore!

New York Congress Critters, Attorney General Holder Move Against Second Amendment

Senator Gillibrand and Representative McCarthy have introduced the Gun Trafficking Prevention Act of 2009. Ostensibly designed to prosecute gun traffickers, the bill would also deny the Second Amendment to anybody on the so-called terror watch list. The legislation is supported by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, and the Brady Campaign.

The number of unique names on the U.S. terror watch list totals 400,000, newly released FBI data reveals. The Washington Post reported that during a 12-month period ending in March of this year, 1,600 people were nominated daily by the U.S. intelligence community to be put on the list due to ‘reasonable suspicion.’

In July, 2008, the terror watch list contained well over a million names, according to the American Civil Liberties Union.

“Members of Congress, nuns, war heroes and other ’suspicious characters,’ with names like Robert Johnson and Gary Smith, have become trapped in the Kafkaesque clutches of this list, with little hope of escape,” said Caroline Fredrickson, director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office in July, 2008. “Congress needs to fix it, the Terrorist Screening Center needs to fix it, or the next president needs to fix it, but it has to be done soon.”

Obama did not fix it. Instead, as noted below, his attorney general and two Congress critters from New York are well on their way to making sure over a million Americans are stripped of their constitutional right to own firearms.http://www.infowars.com/new-york-congress-critters-attorney-general-holder-move-against-second-amendment/
