New Law Would Regulate Maryland Puppy Mills

SALISBURY, Md.- Maryland lawmakers want to shut down puppy mills. Currently, the state has no laws to regulate puppy mills.

A new regulation will cap at 50 the number of dogs, over the age of 4 months, that breeders can have at one time. It will also establish size limits for enclosures and enact exercise equipment requirements for breeders with more than 10 dogs.

Americans Are Arming Themselves -- Why?

In case you have not noticed… Americans are arming themselves. Sales of those rifles the liberals like to refer to as “assault rifles” are so brisk, nationwide, that they are back-ordered for weeks and, in some cases, even months…

(In the event you are unfamiliar with the term “Assault Rifle"… the common definition, by liberals and “gun-grabbers” of an assault rifle, is… a rifle that One: Looks scary” and Two: Holds more than five rounds!)

Two Sentz should also take a look at this. Read more HERE.

Do YOU Remember This Ladder Truck Post?

Is It Just Me?

Or are you getting the feeling we're catching this scene far too often lately? Watch your wallets Folks because you can expect the SFD to come to Council asking for even more perks. I heard the new Fire Trucks were coming in this week and that the bid on the old Ladder truck is at $3,500.00? The tools alone on that Ladder Truck are worth more than $35,000.00!!!!! Pittsville thinks they'll be able to get that Truck for $5,000.00, according to one commenter.

So how do YOU feel about selling a Ladder Truck probably worth $30,000.00 to $40,000.00 for just $5,000.00? Here's another thing I find QUITE INTERESTING! How does ANYONE, (including me) know that the sealed bids were up to $3,500.00????? Let's see if I can put two and two together. Paul Wilber is the attorney for the City of Salisbury, right? Isn't Paul Wilber the attorney for Pittsville too? I'm not suggesting Mr. Wilber has anything to do with it but that's the first thing that came to my mind, how about you?

I used my Gary Comegys Crystal Ball on this one Folks and I was off by $500.00!!!! That's right, the Pittsville Fire Department did in fact win the sealed bid, (Yeah Right, ROTFLMAO sealed my butt) for a grand total of, $5,500.00!!!!!! That's right, a Ladder Truck valued at least $35,000.00 to $40,000.00 as it sits mysteriously sold for almost exactly what I had stated it would sell for, YET I'M NOT A FIRE DEPARTMENT EXPERT.

Will you read a story like this in the Daily Times? Heck no you won't. These Clowns just royally screwed the Taxpayers once again and I mean BIG this time. Let me just break down some of the features this Ladder Truck provided. 700 feet of 3" hoses worth a lot of money. Nozzle's, fans, cords, portable lights, a generator worth $3,000.00, a K12 saw 4 months old worth $2,000.00, ladder belts, axes, tools, too much to mention here as the list just goes on and on. Clearly the truck itself is worth some pretty big numbers, but so what, right?

Chief See and Deputy Chief Gordy say we live in a "throw away society," and they have just proven so. Now, do we blame Pittsville for such a steal of a deal, nope. Do we blame the Salisbury Firefighters for giving away such a vehicle for peanuts, nope. It's all See & Gordy. No reason to punish the Firefighters, they had absolutely nothing to do with the, (COUGH BS) sealed bids. Just remember Mr. Comegys, the next time you throw out that old saying of yours, "I wish I had a crystal ball," know you can always turn to me and I'll be within $500.00.

Oh, so everyone knows as well, that Fire Truck with the blown engine sitting at the old Training Center that they didn't want to fix, they sold that to a Pierce Dealership in Middletown, Delaware for next to nothing too. I know I offered $2,500.00 for it so place in the woods at my home at least a year and a half ago for my Grandson to play on. Let's just see what they gave that puppy away for because I will find out. In fact, I'm reaching out to the Mayor and City Council to inform me of just how much money they sold it for. I'll even throw in two jars of Vaseline for See & Gordy.

The next time they should try the Salisbury News Classified Ads because I can guarantee they would have sold for more right here. There is a good side to this I guess. At least they didn't cut it into pieces and spend another $20,000.00 storing it upstairs in the Fire Palace.

Judd Gregg Withdraws Commerce Nomination

Sen. Judd Gregg withdraws his nomination as commerce secretary. The New Hampshire Republican says he has "irresolvable conflicts" with President Barack Obama's handling of the economic stimulus plan and 2010 census. Gregg is the second commerce nominee to drop out of contention.

And the list goes on and on and on and on!!!!!

GANNETT STOCK VALUE CONTINUES TO SLIDE

Once again, Gannett Co., Inc. - (The Daily Times parent company) - set yet another record low today. The stock plummeted to $4.27/Share shattering yesterday's previous record low. In after hours trading, the stock value continues to decline.

The stock price has been plagued by declining ad sales revenue, sales volume, despite trying to shave personnel in an attempt to adjust to faltering market conditions. In addition, financial pressure from competing electronic media sources have contributed to the newspapers decline.

Fire Trucks & Warranty Work

According to John Pick, the city and SFD is sending trucks and drivers out to Pierce in Appleton, Wisconsin for retrofitting and warranty work? WHY? There are Pierce dealerships that serve this area, Singer Associates Fire Equipment, Inc.. Salisbury Fire Department has their choice of two locations to do any and all warranty work and retrofitting at either of these places. So why are they so hellbent on sending them out to Wisconsin?

If they used the regional service centers instead of going all the way out to Wisconsin, they could save the taxpayers a bit of money and wear and tear on the trucks. I know, saving money and SFD doesn't belong in the same sentence. Is it possible the leadership at SFD is sending the trucks and drivers out to Appleton for an all expense, taxpayer paid vacation? After all, there are plenty of casinos in close proximity to Appleton for their entertainment. Everywhere Gordy goes, there must be a party, and it's always at the expense of the taxpayers.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Extinct Ibex Is Resurrected By Cloning

An extinct animal has been brought back to life for the first time after being cloned from frozen tissue.

The Pyrenean ibex, a form of wild mountain goat, was officially declared extinct in 2000 when the last-known animal of its kind was found dead in northern Spain.

Shortly before its death, scientists preserved skin samples of the goat, a subspecies of the Spanish ibex that live in mountain ranges across the country, in liquid nitrogen.

Using DNA taken from these skin samples, the scientists were able to replace the genetic material in eggs from domestic goats, to clone a female Pyrenean ibex, or bucardo as they are known. It is the first time an extinct animal has been cloned.

New Postal Rates Starting May, 11th

A First Class letter stamp will rise to 44 cents on May 11th but you can still purchase Forever Stamps until then for 42 cents each.

Gas goes down, the USPS rates go up. When is the last time you saw a new Post Office? The fact of the matter is, their business, (much like the Daily Times) has gone down due to the Internet and they claim they lost $2.8 Billion last year.

Its called a Depression Folks. Our Government won't admit it because they want you to feel all comfortable with your money until the big crash/announcement. Well, we've already had the big crash and from the looks of things with all these bailouts, an announcement won't be coming any time soon. They'll play games with us until almost everyone is flat broke.

In the mean time, watch Congress continue feed the wealthy and bail out these crooks that should be in jail instead. Now these Executives are worrying about how much the President will allow them to make a year.

Doesn't seem ironic how the Postal Service can lose $2.8 Billion in one year and they're not in line for a bailout. How many others smell a skunk?

The POWER Of Salisbury News

The Tilghman Administration is in a major bind this morning as many Citizens have been ringing their phones off the hook over the alleged SEALED BIDS on a Fire Truck Salisbury News exposed weeks ago would sell for around $5,000.00. Was it REALLY sealed?

While my own phone is ringing off the hook as well as fielding all the e-mail coming through, See & Gordy are squirming like there's going to be no tomorrow. That's right, they're furious this got out!

Every day I seem to get more and more calls about Gordy's tactics of giving things away from the Salisbury Fire Department. The old Reserve Engine that I mentioned in my article earlier today, the one with a blown engine and being sold to a Pierce Dealership in Delaware, heck, that had a TON of equipment on it and has mysteriously disappeared.

Turns out, Gordy has been giving it all away. One item mentioned was a 1,000 foot of 5" hose that sells for at least $300.00 a foot. It was brand new hose he just gave away! Fans, tools, halligan bars, (sp?) these bars will outlast any human being on earth today! Expensive equipment is disappearing like there's no tomorrow. Did Pam Oland surplus the equipment too? As far as I personally recall, they may have surplussed the truck but I don't recall them doing so on the equipment!

Let's continue with the SEALED BID process as well. Some have said, what about those poor people who made GOOD FAITH offers while everyone knew Pittsville was going to get it. This allegedly isn't the first time this has happened with Gordy involved, one individual told me. Clearly the Good Ol' Boy package Barrie Tilghman claimed she was going to get rid of was all talk to get her elected but she's clearly allowing others to play a fine line game here with equipment.

I have also heard that some Council Members have been hot and heavy on this Post and are questioning See & Gordy's motives. Let me make sure I make this perfectly clear, Comegys is not one of the Council Members challenging these practices. So do YOU want more of the same? Do you want to elect someone like Gary Comegys who will clearly not show up at a Q & A Forum for the Fire Department and stay clear or turn a blind eye at See & Gordy? Or would you rather have those two pain in the butt Councilwomen who are clearly looking out for your best interest?

I'm a taxpayer in Salisbury too and I even offered to pony up the CASH to not only purchase the Fire Truck with the blown engine, I also offered to pony up $250,000.00 CASH for the old Station 16. You know, the one they tried like crazy to give away. ARE YOU FOLKS FOLLOWING ME NOW??????

I'M GOING TO ASK THAT ALL FIREFIGHTERS COME FORWARD AND PROVIDE ME WITH EVERYTHING THEY KNOW. I will keep their names anonymous but you have to realize that I am getting information daily about the Salisbury Fire Department. If you come forward now, it will clearly show you are NOT a part of the give away program these two leaders are a part of and together we can salvage the reputation of the SFD as a whole. Contact me at alberobutzo@wmconnect.com or call me at 410-430-5349. You have my word that your names will remain anonymous. We need to get to the bottom of this immediately as I'm sure Pam Oland is squirming looking at the legislation that was passed on the old Fire Truck to see if the "EQUIPMENT" was included in the surplus vote.

Brush Fire

There's a brush fire at Tilghman Road & Ocean Gatewy. Firefighters are concernd it will get out of control with this wind.

The True Cost of Hate Speech

Here is a great piece written by Two Sentz contributor "Chuck" that is worth sharing. ArchGoose, I'm sure you are going to love it.

In late summer of last year, Jim David Adkisson walked into a Unitarian Universalist church in Tennessee with a sawed off shot gun and began shooting. He killed two people and wounded six before he was stopped and arrested.

Thankfully, on Monday, the Knox County Criminal Court sentenced him to life (Knox News). He pleaded guilty (as he should have), and now he is off the streets. Great news.

But why did he do it? What drove him to attack people in a church who were watching a Children's musical? Well, for posterity, Adkisson left behind his manifesto at the scene of the crime. It was originally intended as a suicide note, but he couldn't finish the job (by which, of course, I mean himself). Here is my favorite quote from the manifesto, and if you've been a Two Sentz reader for a while, you'll see why...

"I realized I could engage the terrorist allies here in America. The best allies they've got. The Democrates!"

Does that particular spelling of "Democrats" look familiar to any of you? :) Just sayin'.

If you have the stomach, you should go read the whole thing. It is a word for word Hannity or O'Reilly argument against Liberalism. Adkisson blames everything on Liberalism and Democrats. He uses the same exact terminology as the propagandists on talk radio, and references a book by Bernard Goldberg (right wing hatchet man) which is an anti-Liberal screed that names the 100 most "anti-American" people in the country. This unemployed and listless man was so fed up with his life, and pumped up with right-wing hate, that he decided to kill people.

Liberals are a pest like termites. Millions of them. Each little bite contributes to the downfall of this great nation. The only way we can rid ourselves of this evil is kill them in the streets. Kill them where they gather.

Through constant indoctrination, he no longer viewed Liberals as people. He was desensitized and demoralized. We know another group of individuals who fit this same bill: Al-Qaeda foot soldiers. They don't view Christians or people in the West as human. We are to be destroyed to save the world.... they were told to do so by Osama bin Laden.

And now, far from being on the fringes, the talk show hosts and right-wing pundits ostensibly control the Republican party. They answer to Limbaugh, and he tells millions of people, everyday, that Liberals are "the enemy", that Liberals "want to destroy America"... that Liberals are like nefarious shadow creatures that must be fought to the bitter end, and ultimately destroyed, all to 'save' America.

If you don't think that incites violence, go talk to Mr. Adkisson... or, better yet, ask Al-Qaeda how well their propaganda machine has been working.

And that is the ultimate irony: For the strict Republican ultra-Extremist Conservative, they think they're in a bitter battle with the likes of bin Laden (and most believe they are at war with Islam, itself)... never realizing that they are kindred spirits when it comes to propaganda, polarization, and hate.

Mr. Adkisson, for all of his railing against 'terrorists', committed a terrorist act, in response. It's utter madness.

Subject: Fwd: Daily Times Rip Off!

When I picked up the paper this morning and noticed the absolutely unreasonable price, for virtually three sheets of paper most of which, is often inaccurate information, I was appalled. Not to mention the quality of print that ofter appears to leave the reader feeling, as if they have double vision.

There is no need for details, because, there is no doubt in my mind, that the publisher and staff know exactly what I'm talking about.

Its bad enough that the paper has been reduced in size, reduced in coverage, reduced in classifieds, but, now to see the paper is $1.25 , is completely unreasonable.

I am 45 years old and I have lived in Salisbury my entire live. It is now my mission to encourage, absolutely everyone I know, everyone, I come to know and every business I associate with NOT to utilize this paper in anyway.

DO NOT PURCHASE THE DAILY TIMES, DO NOT PURCHASE ADVERTISING WITH THE DAILY TIMES, DO NOT PLACE CLASSIFIEDS….!

THIS IS MY MISSION AND MY INTENT IS TO CONTINUE UNTIL CHANGES ARE MADE OR UNTIL THE PAPER FOLDS.

This is no less, as irresponsible, as the CEO of major banks that are excepting millions in bonuses and displacing and ripping off consumers and tax payers acrossed our nation.

Today in this "Cripple Economy" it is inexcusable, that the head of this publication would choose to make such and outrageous and unexceptable rise in cost.

Everyday, my 78 mother would save her 75 cents to get a paper….there is no way possible on a fixed income, with todays economy, that she can afford $1.25 a day.

I hate to guess what the cost of the Sunday paper will be.

I assure you this mission is just getting started!

From today forward, I will no longer pratronize any business that contiues advertising throught the Daily Times, and I will encourage everyone I know to do the same.

NOTE: I will also be forwarding this information to every contact, personal and business that I know!

GMAC Goes After Bob Smith Automotive Group For $12,000,000.00!

EASTON, Md. (Map, News) - A company that owns two car dealerships on the Eastern Shore has allegedly defaulted on nearly $12 million in loans from GMAC, the financing arm of General Motors Corp.

GMAC has filed in Talbot and Caroline county courts for a confessed judgment, which would require payment without a lawsuit. The company, Bob Smith Automotive Group, owns the GM Giant dealership in Easton and the Giant GMC dealership in Federalsburg.

Mayoral Candidate Gary Comegys Refused To Attend Fire Department Invitation

The Salisbury Fire Department made contact with all three Mayoral Candidates to attend a question and answer session for this Wednesday night. Out of courtesy, they asked each Candidate if the date worked for them and if not, which one out of three would.

The date was scheduled for last night and Gary Comegys was a no show! The general questions being asked were as simple as, how do you feel about the Salisbury Fire Department. What do you think of our new facility. Why do you feel we should support you as a candidate. The public was not invited, this was for career Firefighters only.

I'm told the SFD did everything possible to work around Gary Comegys schedule but the word on the street is, Gary Comegys didn't attend because most of the career paid Firefighters don't live in the City, therefore they can't vote so what's the point.

Gary Comegys does NOT like paid Firefighters, period. Regardless of weather they live in the City or not, they WORK for the City and it would have been in Gary Comegys best interest to be there.

Some Firefighters feel that he didn't want to be there because at the last Council Forum he looked like a bumbling idiot. Their words, not mine. Jim Ireton and Bob Caldwell respectfully showed up and were more than happy to answer all of their questions.

Once again, the voting decision for Mayor is on the citizens of Salisbury. Now, more than ever, they must get out and vote in the primary in record numbers. You can be assured that the Comegys Campaign will in fact get their people there in record numbers because they must get him past the primary. Boy, wouldn't it make a HUGE statement if Ireton and Caldwell were successful in booting Comegys out of the race early on?

IMHO, shame on Gary Comegys for refusing to show up and show some respect for the men and women he calls BROTHERS. It only works when he wants it to work. That's the way I see it.

Socialism Is Here

As predicted by many people (including me), this country is now moving into socialism and away from capitalism -- a very scary scenario. With the passage of the 900 trillion dollar (that will be the final cost) socialist package ("stimulus package") money will NOT go to the American people, but rather to enlarge the U.S. government and its control over your lives. And WHO do you think will be paying for that $900 trillion offensive package? Obama is doing what everyone feared....using his position to further strictly left wing goals. For example, did you know that he secretly moved the Census from the Department of Commerce to the WHITE HOUSE??? SO WHAT? Well, now the White House can "estimate" the number of people in any area, without oversight, and change the electoral college - therefore, giving democrats more votes in the future. He and his democrat congress are moving to give the District of Columbia Senate and House seats. SO WHAT? Well, the District of Columbis is NOT A STATE, so they should not, constitutionally, be able to have those seats. But Congress will pass legislation to make it happen, giving democrats more votes. And Obama and his congress has changed rules for Medicare and Medicaid so that these new rules can take effect. SO WHAT? Well, this is the first step towards a socialist health care plan -- one that failed in Europe, Canada and even Russia. AMERICA IS NOW CHANGING from the capitalist society that we have always known to a socialist one.

God help us all.

Please watch Glenn Beck on FoxNews this evening for more information on these issues.

Darwin's Birthday Poll: Fewer Than 4 In 10 Believe in Evolution

A new poll released just in time for Charles Darwin's 200th birthday found only 39 percent of Americans say they "believe in the theory of evolution" and just 24 percent of those who attend church weekly believe in the explanation for the origin of life.

The Gallup survey, released Wednesday, found a quarter of those polled do not believe in evolution, and 36 percent say they don't have an opinion either way.

The poll of 1,018 American adults, found strong ties between education level and belief in the theory.

"Among those with high-school educations or less who have an opinion on Darwin's theory, more say they do not believe in evolution than say they believe in it," Gallup found. "For all other groups, and in particular those who have at least a college degree, belief is significantly higher than nonbelief."

Fairness Doctrine

Senate support builds for 'Fairness Doctrine'Harkin 'to squelch' 1st Amendment in favor of

Sen. Tom Harkin with Senate President Harry Reid

Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, has become the second U.S. senator in a week to endorse a return to the ideas behind the so-called "Fairness Doctrine," a plan that was abandoned under President Reagan in 1987 as unnecessary and unconstitutional.

The plan, originally introduced in 1949, demanded that radio
and television stations give "equal" time to conservative and liberal opinions on political issues under the threat of penalties or license revocation.

According to a report at Politico.com, Harkin told radio host and WND columnist Bill Press, "We gotta get the Fairness Doctrine back in law again."

WND had reported just days earlier when Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., told Press, "I think it's absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it's called the Fairness Standard, whether it's called something else – I absolutely think it's time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves."

Daily Times SKYROCKETS In Price

It wasn't that long ago when you'd go to a convenience store and pick up a copy of your Daily Times for a quarter. That's right, it was 25 cents.

Not long ago Gannett Publications/Daily Times raised their rates up to as much as seventy five cents per paper and people started cancelling their subscriptions like there was no tomorrow.

Guess what Folks, today that newspaper has skyrocketed all the way up to $1.25 PER DAY/PAPER! They should take a page from other local news outlets and call themselves, less news in more time. The paper continues to get thinner by the day and now they're charging $1.25, like it's the Wall Street Journal or the USA Today.

That's it Folks, they're done. I can assure you they will lose more customers over this move than anything else. It's time to go for the kill, a figure of speech, of course.

UPDATE: The Daily Times has now posted the following. "An editing error made it appear that the price today was $1.25. That is incorrect, and there are no plans to increase the cost of the daily paper."

Today is the birthday of former President Abraham Lincoln

President Lincoln was teh son of a frontiersman of Kentucky. Five months before receiving his Republican Nomination, he wrote about his life:

"I was born Feb. 12, 1809, in Harden County, Kentucky. My parents were both born in Virginia, of undistinguished families -- second family, perhaps I should say. My mother, who died in my tenth year, was a family of the name Hanks . . . My father . . . removed from Kentucky . . . Indiana, in my eighth year . . . It was a wild region, with many bears and other wild animals still in the woods. There I grew up . . . Of course when I came of age I did not know much. Still somehow, I could read, write, and cipher . . . but that was all."

He married Mary Todd. They had 4 boys. Only one child lived to adulthood.

In 1860, he won the Republican nomination, and won the re-election in 1864.

On Good Friday, April 14, 1865, Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theatre in Washington by John Wilkes Booth, an actor.

"Almost Recess" Comes To Wicomico County

Wicomico Students Experience A Cappella Fun and Learning with Almost Recess

Wicomico students are getting a unique musical experience and education this week with Almost Recess, a nationally performing a cappella group that creates the sound of a band using only voices.

"Almost Recess is an amazing group with such incredible talent!," said Fruitland Intermediate Principal Kristina Gosnell, whose students attended Almost Recess assemblies Monday. "They are truly engaging and the students (and adults!) couldn't get enough of their music. They not only performed songs, but included an ongoing lesson about music styles, voice qualities, and even a demonstration for the students of how to make "drum" sounds themselves."

With some assistance from the Young Audiences of Maryland, the Wicomico County Board of Education was able to make the Almost Recess musical program available to all intermediate, middle and high schools. Almost Recess visited half the schools in January, and is back now for a second week of shows.

"This is by far the best group I've ever been able to bring in for a county-wide program," said Gary Beauchamp, supervisor of fine arts and music.

Almost Recess varies its "School of Rock" program to suit the age level of the students, and each performance is set up by a discussion in class, then followed by activities that align the performance with the core learning goals in Maryland's Voluntary State Curriculum.

"Our students were very impressed with the program. They were attentive to the songs and the patter," said Jon Shearer, principal of Wicomico Middle. "The assembly was very organized and the presenters were responsive to the audience. The kids loved it!"

Almost Recess visited Wi Middle, Glen Avenue Elementary, Bennett Middle, Northwestern Elementary, Delmar Elementary, East Salisbury Elementary, Pittsville Elementary and Middle, and James M. Bennett High in January. This week, the group performs at Fruitland Intermediate, Westside Intermediate, North Salisbury Elementary and Parkside High (Tuesday), Mardela Middle and High (Wednesday), Prince Street Elementary and Pinehurst Elementary (Thursday), and Salisbury Middle and Pemberton Elementary (Friday).
