Troopers Looking For Suspect In Attempted Abduction

Location: Trillium Drive, Magnolia, DE

Date of Occurrence: Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 12:40 p.m.

Suspect: Older white male, clean shaven, with a full head of grey hair. He was last seen wearing a blue or green pull over sweater.

Resume:

Delaware State Police are investigating what appears to be an attempted abduction of an 11 year-old girl.

Before 1 p.m. this afternoon an 11 year-old girl got off her school bus and was walking home when an older model dark blue sedan pulled up beside her. The driver, who is described above, asked the little girl where she was going and offered her a ride. The girl refused and the suspects told her that he had candy in his car and that she could sit in the back seat and eat it while he drove her home. The girl became frightened and ran from the car.

Troopers are searching for the driver of the car for questioning. Anyone who may have any information as to the identity of the driver or the location of the vehicle is asked to contact the state police at 302-697-4456

Citizens Against Tom McGuire

Remember the woman named Nikki who sent in the comment about Brooke Mulford wishing her dead. Tom McGuire, Nikki's Husband is running for Mayor of Delmar, Maryland and I personally cannot wait to see the election results to the up and coming elections in Delmar.

Don't miss the following articles on this nut job and his Wife.

HERE

Nikki Said:

"Joe plz take the time to read and reply if you like ( or post)

Joe , hi this is Nicole toms wife . I'm sorry if you took offense to my comment on Brooke mumford ,I don't apologize for it just that you were offended by it . The sad fact is she is going to die period . When is not for me to say that is gods hand or destiny .As i was at work the other day Brooke came up
.The general consensis is the ppl are tired of hearing about it . So am i , as prices go up and we work longer and harder hour just to make ends meet .Constantly be updated on her condition is well asking to much . And the delaying of the inevitable is just cruel .This was just not me but most ppl in the room felt the same way .Joe what offended me was that i did not hide behind a anonymous Id . i was open about it but it is your news blog ,But are you not in a sense as bad as the daily rag . you censored my comment cuz you did not like it . I did not cuss or swear ,Just stated my opinion period ,. I hope there is no rif between you and tom ,He said hey it is his blog to do with as he wants . But hey that is why he is going to run for mayor or counsel , he see's thing from all angles period. You said it your self to tom Brooke is a business period .There were ppl in that room who are working 90 hour a week just not to lose what lil they have. So spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a person who will die at some point just seem out of line. Any way if you choose to post this that is fine by me , I'm not like jt and the others I don't hide I stand by my thoughts and defend them .MY final thought is I hope this raises your awareness not to become like the rag and censor on feelings ,Remember there 2 side to everything some times more ."

OK Delmar, let's see how smart residents of Delmar actually are. Will the residents get out and vote for a couple who wishes Brooke Mulford would just die? In fact Nikki, Brooke Mulford's cancer is gone. Imagine if they chose to listen to an Idiot like you and pulled the plug. I even have a recording from Tom stating on my answering service that his Wife is right.

Nikki has also been calling a certain car dealership claiming Joe Albero is Anti Gay and they'll never buy a car from them. Guess what Folks, Nikki couldn't buy a new car if her own life depended on it. What year car do you drive now Nikki, a 1970 clunker?

Their threats have fallen upon deaf ears. Just how desperate will this group of Anti Albero people get. Time will tell. If I could vote in the Town of Delmar, (I live outside Town Limits) I certainly would NOT cast any vote for this nut case and his Wife. Oh, that's right, she recently dropped out of the race, thank God.

The title of this Post is from a group of concerned citizens who live in Delmar doing everything they can to make sure everyone is educated about Tom McGuire. This guy eats Fruit Loops for breakfast Folks. Again, my guess is that a record number of votes will be cast in Delmar, you mark my word. And they won't be for Tom.

O'Malley Monitors Eastern Shore Flooding

GOVERNOR O’MALLEY, MEMA MONITORING SOUTHERN, EASTERN PARTS OF MARYLAND FOR ANTICIPATED FLOODING;

GOVERNOR ACTIVATES EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER;

MEMA MOVES TO LEVEL 3 ACTIVIATION TO COORDINATE RESPONSE

REISTERSTOWN, MD
(November 12, 2009) – Due to anticipated flooding and high winds because of a storm system moving up the Atlantic Coast, Governor Martin O’Malley has ordered the Maryland Emergency Management Agency to partially activate its emergency operations center to provide support to local responders and emergency managers.

At the direction of the Governor, MEMA has moved to a Level 3 activation of the SEOC bringing representatives from a variety of state agencies and other local partners together to monitor and respond to anticipated flooding, if necessary. Because of the nature of this weather event, the primary responding agencies will focus on public health, transportation, public works and shelter support.

“We are working with MEMA and our local partners to monitor this weather event so that we are prepared to respond quickly with all available resources, if necessary,” said Governor Martin O’Malley. “We are asking all residents of coastal and low-lying areas to monitor their local news for further updates from emergency managers.”

The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rain and strong winds, particularly on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and in Southern Maryland. Low-lying areas will likely see flooding over the next 24 hours.

“While we do not anticipate a storm of the magnitude of Hurricane Isabel in 2003, this still will be a significant event for some parts of the State,” said Maryland Emergency Management Agency Director Richard Muth. “I encourage resident of low-lying and coastal areas along the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries and the Atlantic coast to monitor news broadcasts and follow the advice of their local emergency managers.”

As part of the activation, MEMA is opening its Joint Information Center. Until 11 p.m. tonight, media calls may be directed to Ed McDonough at 410-517-3632 (desk) or 410-446-3333 (cell). After 11 p.m. tonight, calls may be directed to the Joint Information Center at 410-517-3634, 410-517-3605, 410-517-5135 or 800-422-8799.

US Joins Ranks Of Failed States

The US has every characteristic of a failed state.

The US government's current operating budget is dependent on foreign financing and money creation.

Too politically weak to be able to advance its interests through diplomacy, the US relies on terrorism and military aggression.

http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE59H0AH20091019

Costs are out of control, and priorities are skewed in the interest of rich organized interest groups at the expense of the vast majority of citizens. For example, war at all cost, which enriches the armaments industry, the officer corps and the financial firms that handle the war's financing, takes precedence over the needs of American citizens. There is no money to provide the uninsured with health care, but Pentagon officials have told the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee in the House that every gallon of gasoline delivered to US troops in Afghanistan costs American taxpayers $400.

"It is a number that we were not aware of and it is worrisome," said Rep. John Murtha, chairman of the subcommittee.
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/63407-400gallon-gas-another-cost-of-war-in-afghanistan-

According to reports, the US Marines in Afghanistan use 800,000 gallons of gasoline per day. At $400 per gallon, that comes to a $320,000,000 daily fuel bill for the Marines alone. Only a country totally out of control would squander resources in this way.

While the US government squanders $400 per gallon of gasoline in order to kill women and children in Afghanistan, many millions of Americans have lost their jobs and their homes and are experiencing the kind of misery that is the daily life of poor third world peoples. Americans are living in their cars and in public parks. America's cities, towns, and states are suffering from the costs of economic dislocations and the reduction in tax revenues from the economy's decline. Yet, Obama has sent more troops to Afghanistan, a country half way around the world that is not a threat to America.

It costs $750,000 per year for each soldier we have in Afghanistan. The soldiers, who are at risk of life and limb, are paid a pittance, but all of the privatized services to the military are rolling in excess profits. One of the great frauds perpetuated on the American people was the privatization of services that the US military traditionally performed for itself. "Our" elected leaders could not resist any opportunity to create at taxpayers' expense private wealth that could be recycled to politicians in campaign contributions.

WICOMICO COUNTY’S TAX REVENUE “CAP” -- ANOTHER READER'S VIEW

During this week’s public hearing on Rick Pollitt’s proposed budget cuts it became apparent that the “cap” now is having effects that are never mentioned in the mainstream media. Consider the following.

You have probably heard Mr. Pollitt criticize the tax cap numerous times –claiming that it has cost the County lots of money (less tax revenue, that is). But, it also is saving the taxpayers from loss of money due to higher taxes. That aspect has become very significant now that there is insufficient revenue to cover all the spending that he put in his proposed budget and the County Council approved earlier this year.

But for the tax cap, the County’s property tax rate could have been increased to generate funds to cover that deficit. That would require a significant tax increase – can someone tell us how much, please.

Because the cap on tax revenue puts the screws to the “tax & spend” style of government, Pollitt is being forced, for the first time in office, to engage in real budgeting. Compare the discussion this week to the typical dog and pony show that he has presented to support his past budgets, in which there was no meaningful discussion of the need for specific expenditures.

During the hearing someone actually questioned the need for a County position (public information officer). Past budget hearings were dominated by two groups: the tax & spenders and those opposed to that style and the big government that it causes, with almost no focus on details.

A potential effect may become apparent during the next election campaign, when Mr. Pollitt may be forced – because of his statements against the tax cap and to hold the liberal tax & spend political base – to support outright repeal of the cap. Thus, there could be a broad opening for an opponent who supports it either unchanged or with some modification. There surely will be substantial debate about what level of taxation and spending is appropriate for Wicomico County and also specific expenditures, such as the public information officer if that position still exists then.

And if we should be fortunate enough to adopt real “zero-base” budgeting, blame it on the tax cap, folks.

Allan Webster BIG Day … and Jim Ireton’s Disgrace

Salisbury mayor Jim Ireton offered so much promise when he ran for office less than one year ago. For starters, he wasn’t Barrie Tilghman or one of her acolytes. Second, he promised a more open, transparent regime than his predecessor.

Hope and Change. Like his hero, Barack Obama, Ireton promised “a different kind of politics”. Like his hero, we are seeing a meaner, nastier version of the same old thing. Like his hero, Ireton smiles (while doing nothing) and his goose stepping general staff grind a hob nailed boot into the face of freedom loving citizens.

Hyperbole? Not much.

When Jim Ireton ran for mayor I remember him stating (at his announcement or a debate, I’m not exactly sure) behavior like excluding citizens from press conferences wouldn’t be tolerated under a Mayor Jim Ireton. On Wednesday, Salisbury Police Chief Allan Webster made a LIAR out of Jim Ireton. That would be sad enough except that Webster has already made a fool out of the man who claims to be his boss.

SMASH THE PRESSES

On Wednesday, the Salisbury Police Department held a press conference. SbyNEWS publisher Joe Albero showed up. Webster had Albero ejected from the premises.

Don’t like Joe Albero? That’s fine. Now ask yourself if you honestly believe that Webster, or any other civil servant, should have the right to eject ANY taxpaying citizen from a PUBLIC facility? Given that this citizen had not caused a disturbance, if you honestly believe that Webster has a right to eject that citizen I would submit that you are as much of a JACK BOOTED THUG as Allan Webster apparently is.

Want to claim that Albero isn’t a legitimate member of the press? That’s fine. Guess what? Neither you NOR Allan Webster get to make that call. Press credentials are given out by certain governmental organizations because of limits of space and for identification purposes. Only fascist fools like Webster, Barrie Tilghman, and certain members of the Obama administration believe that THEY get to determine what constitutes journalism.

Personally I don’t really care whether or not Joe Albero, or anyone else, attends a press conference at the SPD headquarters. However, to deny ANY CITIZEN their RIGHT to attend sets a dangerous precedent. We expect this type of behavior in China, Venezuela, Cuba, or Iran. We don’t expect this in the United States. We definitely should not accept it. Yet, to the best of my knowledge Allan Webster is still on the taxpayers’ dime as this goes to post. SHAME ON JIM IRETON!

LIAR, LIAR

Such behavior would be bad enough for one day (even a year). However, Allan Webster doesn’t appear content to limit bad actions to only one a day.

On the same day, at a Chamber of Commerce function, Allan Webster stood up and verbally attacked Mark McIver. McIver, a civic leader and member of the city’s Crime Task Force was discussing the impact of certain practices of the Eastern Correctional Institution and its impact on crime in Salisbury.

Webster is reported to have verbally attacked McIver; pointing a finger at him and stating that McIver didn’t know what he was talking about and that everything he said was a lie.

This would be shameful conduct from an ordinary citizen. However, Webster is supposed to be the chief law enforcement officer in the city of Salisbury. He is supposed to be one of the leaders of Salisbury’s government. Such conduct is a disgrace. Yet, to the best of my knowledge, Allan Webster is still an employee of the city of Salisbury. SHAME ON JIM IRETON!

DANGER … AND DISGRACE

In many ways I actually feel sorry for Ireton. He has placed himself in a position where the city is being run by the very people he claimed to be running against as a candidate. Jim may have a talent for cutting ribbons and pressing the flesh down on Main Street, but Salisbury is actually worse than the day he was sworn in to office.

Salisbury suffers one of the worse crime rates (per capita) in the nation. If I were the chief of police, I would hide my head in shame. While the area’s other leading law enforcement officials have come together with elected officials and civic minded citizens to tackle a tough problem, Webster appears to believe that he is simply too important to sit down and work to solve a serious problem.

Instead, Webster spends his time attacking citizens (like McIver) who work to help solve the city’s greatest problem. Instead, Webster expends scarce police resources to attack Councilwoman Debbie Campbell. Instead, Webster openly defies the duly elected Mayor of Salisbury. Instead, Webster sues the city.

Law abiding, liberty loving citizens should actually be frightened. You have a Police Chief who has literally “gone rogue” – verbally attacking citizens, trampling the basic liberties of others, and openly defying his lawful superior. Add to the mix that this man possesses a badge and a gun. Even more frightening – what type of example is he setting for the officers under his command?

Yet, Webster retains his badge. Yet, he retains his gun. Yet, he still draws a paycheck at the expense of those that he appears to hold in utter contempt. SHAME ON JIM IRETON!

It would be easy to say that Allan Webster has disgraced Jim Ireton. Sadly, Ireton has disgraced himself. Ireton claims that “he can’t do anything”. Ireton claims that only the city council can dismiss Webster. I would beg to differ.

Ireton can dismiss Webster “for cause”. BEFORE Webster attacked our basic liberties, BEFORE he verbally assaulted a citizen, BEFORE he publicly defied and ridiculed the office of the Mayor, Ireton had ample cause. Simply look at Salisbury’s crime rate! No one is blaming Salisbury’s rank and file police officers. They simply deserve better leadership (and better funding).

However, SINCE Webster attacked our basic liberties, SINCE he verbally assaulted a citizen, SINCE he publicly defied and ridiculed the office of the Mayor, I would have a hard time imagining even the Barrie Comegys bloc of Gary Comegys, Louise Smith, and Shanie Shields (well, maybe Shanie) arguing that Ireton doesn’t have ample cause to fire Webster. Even if they did, the onus would then be on THEM. Let Gary Comegys take responsibility for the next assault. Let Louise Smith take responsibility for the next rape. Let Shanie Shields take responsibility for the next robbery. Let them all be held accountable for the next homicide.

Sadly, Ireton appears to lack the stomach (or stones) to actually face down this problem. Jim ran for the office. The people chose to elect him because he pledged to “Speak Truth to Power” (whatever that means). Now, Ireton either needs to resign or understand that this is HIS PROBLEM. Barrie’s gone. He refuses to take control of his office or his rogue police chief. I’m sorry Jim -

THE NEXT MURDER IS ON YOU!

Ace Hardware

Our day has finally come Folks. I have received many e-mail messages asking what slots were open and where could they fit in. Well, we've taken your messages, filled in the slots that were available, created the charts and now we're ready to fill in the gaps.
This is a very exciting start as individuals and businesses have been chomping at the bit to get up there. Remember Folks, the sooner you put your name on the list, the longer your name remains on the list. In other words, FREE ADVERTISING.
Now don't go abusing it either because if someone simply puts their name up there and then regularly cancels, we're going to mark canceled in red. People will quickly get the idea. I'm confident that won't happen.
OK, we have a lot of work to do and little time to get it done. Can you help us. These charts will go up at least twice a day until they are full. Mind you, even when they are full I plan on posting them daily to advertise those people volunteering their time to support the Salvation Army.
It's a wonderful experience Folks. Even if you only have an hour you can spare to ring the bell, give it a try and you'll instantly become addicted and want more.
Salisbury News was responsible last year for two, (three) locations. I say two, they say three. Sam's Club and WalMart. Since WalMart has two entrances, they consider it two locations. Nevertheless, this year they have asked us to take on Gander Mountain, (which was a fantastic location last year and the shoppers were VERY giving). We have also been asked to work with our friends at Ace Hardware. This is a weekend only location, so if you live closer to Ace Hardware and would like to be under cover, (which is REALLY nice) Ace Hardware is the place to ring.
We have enjoyed doing quite a few promotions over the years with Ace and they have been extremely grateful for what we have delivered. That being said, we need to fill these charts just as fast as possible because this year the Sam's Club and WalMart locations will start 5 days later than last year. It has something to do with their national agreement but we're out 5 whole days and we simply cannot afford to have any open slots. I know you can understand the math there.
So please take a look at the charts and see what works for you. Now keep in mind that we will update these charts just as fast as we can and prime spots will go pretty fast, like weekends. If you don't fill the spot, I'll be doing it. The more I have to get out there and ring bells, the less news and information that goes up on Salisbury News. Sorry Folks but this is the very time I personally give back, if I must.
So please join us. Send me a request for a time and a place at alberobutzo@wmconnect.com and we'll get it up just as fast as we can. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!!
EDITORS NOTE: The Charts are posted by Ghanima and we appreciate all the effort they put into it.

Why Virginia Beach Is Closing Schools Today

The flooding on the Eastern Shore of Virginia is pretty bad Folks. Expect similar conditions here as well. By the way, there's about a 5% chance of sunshine today.

Wicomico Library Director Afraid Of Public Debate/Discussion/Exposure

When Wicomico County held a public session on the Budget the other night, I took the opportunity to speak and express my thoughts on issues that concerned me as a taxpayer.

On one subject I explained my issues referencing the most recent proposal by Palmer Gillis in which we posted the other day showing how the County would not only take quite a bit of property off the tax role, they'd destroy certain businesses by limiting the amount of metered parking spaces Downtown so desperately needs.

The Market Street Inn, (for example) would lose 90% of available parking spaces under this new plan. The other issue is the little secret plan the City is allegedly working on with UMES. They're trying to cut a deal, (so I'm told) where UMES would take over the old Fire Station 16 and turn it into a restaurant. Some might say, well, wouldn't that be nice. However, there's a good chance, (should this happen) UMES would NOT be taxed on the real estate. UMES would NOT have the typical expenses a taxpayer would have to invest into equipment and taxes and they're praying on Downtown Salisbury, rather than doing this same thing in Princess Anne.

Notice, (from the link/article above) the breezeway crossing the roadway from PRMC to the newly proposed Library. It's a direct walk from PRMC to the new restaurant. I personally find that VERY interesting. It's a win/win for UMES. Yet Rob Mulford has invested millions of dollars into the Market Street Inn, he's not getting any favors from the City. My guess is that if the City follows through with such a concept the Market Street Inn would go out of business within weeks, let alone the construction for such a project killing their business. Then there'd be no more taxes coming in AGAIN. I also explained how Libraries are getting smaller, not bigger. Most people now use the Internet as their source for most information, not books from a Library.

Anyhow, I explained myself to the County Council the other night showing them how the County is in fact affecting the City and explained how IMO it was putting good money after bad money. I then explained how high crime is in the City & County and also explained that the City of Salisbury IS IN THE COUNTY.

While the Sheriff's Department is experiencing major budget cuts and crime is on the rise, why not consider reinvesting into the Sheriff's Department, rather than a new Library. I went on to say that the Library Downtown is one of the only "Green Buildings" in the entire County and was designed to last for at least 50+years. Considering ANY proposal right now for a new Library is simply out of the question in this economy.

I finished my speech and during the speech and after I received an applause from the 200+ people in attendance. John Cannon stated there would only be two more people allowed to speak and after two citizens got up there after me, Tom Hayman, (Director of the Wicomico Library System) immediately raced to the mike and stated this was not the time nor the place to discuss the Library. He went on to say that if anyone wanted to discuss these matters they could contact him at the Library.

Well Tom, I disagree completely. It was the exact time to express this matter and the fact that it was done of PAC 14, I personally think you made a fool out of yourself for saying that. I am a taxpayer in Wicomico County. In fact I own around 16 properties in Wicomico County and pay serious taxes to boot. I have more rights than most to express my concern and opinion and quite frankly I think you need to start respecting the people who pay your salary then attempting to belittle them publicly.

Let me say this as well Folks. I like Tom and I think he does a fine job as the Director. I simply see the former Mayor of Salisbury, Gary Comegys, Shanie Shields and Louise Smith doing anything and everything they can to get the Library out and the City's office relocated to that building. It's all about politics Folks. I'm sure Lore' Chambers is helping them along with grants and feeding them everything they need to move forward with that project.

Let me remind all of you that the City has still not signed the contract with the County to purchase 1/2 of the current GOB. For $1.00 and a signature, the City could own 1/2 of that entire space but Comegys and others say, the building is old and requires a ton of maintenance. WRONG! That building is NOT old and as a taxpayer, for $1.00 and maintenance costs, I'd jump on that opportunity so fast you wouldn't know what happened.

Barrie Tilghman wants her name on anything she can and some people backing her will do whatever it takes to get the Library. The Director of the Library doesn't want the public to discuss this openly and would rather have you contact him one on one. It doesn't work that way any more Tom. It's OUR money and WE the People will make that decision. If WE do not get what we feel is right, WE will elect YOUR Bosses out of Office and YOU will be without a job. Let me remind you of a few names that tried playing this game in the past so you can see what happened to them for doing so.

John Jacobs, Barrie Tilghman, Jim Rapp, Carrie Samis, Mike Dunn, Lynn Cathcart, shall I go on! I'll tell you what Tom, I'll make a fair and honest deal with you. If YOU can sell me and the public as to why Wicomico County NEEDS a new Library, I'll take back everything I have said right here and publicly apologize to you. This is ALL about politics, (IMHO) and NOT about necessities.

Bad News For Dems In New Poll?

Poll: Anti-incumbent sentiment strong

Washington (CNN)
- When it comes to Congress, a 'throw the bums out' attitude appears to be alive and well.

According to a new Pew Research Center poll, 52 percent of registered voters would like to see their own member of the House of Representatives re-elected next year, while just over one in three say that most members of Congress should be returned to office. Both numbers come close to the all-time lows seen just prior to the 1994 election, when the Republicans won control of Congress, and the 2006 contest, when the Democrats returned to power in both chambers.

The survey indicates that only 42 percent of independent voters want to see their own representative re-elected in 2010, and just one in four independents think most members of Congress should be returned to office.

The poll suggests that Republicans are more enthusiastic than Democrats. Fifty-eight percent of people who say they plan to vote for Republican in next year's elections say they are very enthusiastic about voting. That's 16 points higher than the 42 percent of people of plan to vote for a Democrat who describe themselves as enthusiastic.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released last week also indicated that Republicans are more energized right now than Democrats.

BLESSING OF KETTLES TO BEGIN SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING SEASON

The second annual “Blessing of the Kettles” service which signifies the beginning of the Red Kettle Campaign season, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14th, at 7 p.m. at Providence Presbyterian Church, 311 Parker Road, Salisbury.

For many people, it just doesn’t seem like Christmas until they hear The Salvation Army bells. This year, another type of music will be added to the season through the voices of a community choir, the “Kettle Choir” which has been practicing and preparing for the service for the last few weeks.

Under the direction of Mae Higgins, music coordinator of Providence Presbyterian Church, the Kettle Choir will provide the musical backdrop for the service. “The choir has prepared three songs that we feel reflect the season and the mission of the Red Kettles”, Higgins said. “It is a delight to be a part of this very special service”.

The service is open to the public and all bell ringers as well as those interested in volunteering are encouraged to attend. Attendees are asked to bring a canned good for The Salvation Army Food pantry and/or contribute to the Red Kettle that will be in the vestibule.

“Now, more than ever, we need the community’s involvement and support,” said Captain Cameron Henderson, Salisbury Corps Officer. “So many of our friends and neighbors are hurting and need help with just the basics of life – food, warm clothing and shelter. We seek God’s blessing in all we do. This service is a way for all of us to come together and lift our hearts in prayer as we can continue our mission of “Doing The Most Good” for those who need it most.”

For more information or to volunteer as a Red Kettle bell ringer, call 410-749-RING (7464).

Beats Me, Boss

Here is the transcript of CNSNews.com’s interview with Sen. Ben Nelson (D.-Neb.):

CNSNews.com: “Specifically, where in the Constitution does Congress get its authority to mandate that individuals purchase health, health insurance?”

Sen. Ben Nelson (D.-Neb.): “Well, you know, I don’t know that I’m a constitutional scholar. So, I, I’m not going to be able to answer that question.”

The senator then turned away to answer another reporter’s question.

More than 3 Million Registered Voters are Dead, 12 Million More Ineligible, Analysis Finds

Regardless of how lively an election season might be, a new study shows that more 3.3 million voters on current registration rolls across the country are dead.

Another 12.9 million remain on voter registration lists in an area where they no longer live.

Not only does this raise concerns about potential voter fraud, but from the interest of campaign consultants, ineligible or expired voters could lead to a waste of resources, said John Aristotle Phillips, CEO of Aristotle.

“Some states have bigger problems than others,” Phillips said. “With deadwood exceeding one in seven votes in some counties, candidates might as well spend a day a week campaigning in the cemetery.”

Food For Thought

Live simply, love generously, care deeply and speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher, you would learn things like:

* When loved ones come home, always run to greet them
* Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride
* Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy
* Take naps
* Stretch before rising
* Run, romp and play daily
* Thrive on attention and let people touch you
* Avoid biting when a simple growl will do
* On warm days, stop to lie on your back in the grass
* On hot days, drink lots of water and lie and lie under a shady tree
* When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body
* Delight in the simple joy of a long walk
* Be loyal
* Never pretend to be something you're not
* If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it
* When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently

Life is short...enjoy every moment of every day!!

Ending The Era Of Permanent Politicians

Republicans Say Term Limits for All Members of Congress Would Bring About ‘Real Change’ in Washington

A Republican senator has introduced a constitutional amendment that would apply term limits to all members of Congress. U.S. Representatives would serve a maximum of three two-year terms, and U.S. senators would serve a maximum of two six-year terms.

"Americans know real change in Washington will never happen until we end the era of permanent politicians," said Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina, who sponsored the amendment. Co-sponsors include Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), and Sam Brownback (R-Kan.).

Constitutional amendments require a two-thirds majority vote approval in the House and Senate and must be ratified by three-fourths of the states.

"As long as members have the chance to spend their lives in Washington, their interests will always skew toward spending taxpayer dollars to buy off special interests, covering over corruption in the bureaucracy, fund raising, relationship building among lobbyists, and trading favors for pork – in short, amassing their own power,’ DeMint said in a news release announcing the proposed amendment.

Try These Clunker Figures Out For Size

If you traded in a clunker worth $3500, you got $4500 off for an apparent "savings" of $1000. You could have gotten $3,500 if you had just traded the car in. So you really are $1,000 ahead (depending on your clunker's value) at this point. Not too bad...

However, you WILL have to pay taxes on the $4500 come April 15th (something that no auto dealer will tell you). If you are in the 30% tax bracket, you will pay $1350 on that $4500.

So, rather than save $1000, you will actually pay an extra $350. to the feds. In addition, you traded in a car that was most likely paid for. Now you have 4 or 5 years of payments on a car that you did not need, trading in a "clunker" that was costing you less to run than the payments that you will now be making. Even if you save $1,000. dollars a year in gas due to better mileage, you're still gonna be in the red for five years....hello?

But wait, it gets even better: you also got ripped off by the dealer. For example, the month before the "cash for clunkers" program started, every dealer here in LA was selling the Ford Focus with all the goodies including A/C, auto transmission, power windows, etc for $12,500. because competition was stiff due to poor sales from the stalled economy.

When "cash for clunkers" came along, they stopped discounting them and instead sold them at the list price of $15,500. So, you paid $3000 more than you would have the month before. Honda, Toyota , and Kia played the same list price game that Ford and Chevy did. Now let's do the math...
You traded in a car worth: $3500
You got a discount of: $4500
---------
Net so far +$1000
But you have to pay: $1350 in taxes on the $4500
--------
Net so far: -$350 (that's minus...in the red)
And you paid: $3000 more than the car was selling for the month before
----------
Net Loss: -$3350

We could also add in the additional taxes (sales tax, state tax, dealer prep, etc.) on the extra $3000 that you paid for the car, along with the Five years of interest on the car loan; but let's just stop here while you kick yourself. Suffice it to say that those costs will be much higher than any savings you get from "better mileage".

So who actually made out on the deal? FEDZILLA collected taxes on the car along with taxeson the $4500 they "gave" you. The car dealers made an extra $3000 or more on every car they sold along with the kickbacks from the manufacturers and the loan companies. Manufacturers got to dump lots of cars they could not give away the month before. Lots of good or repairable used cars got taken off the market, crushed and sold as scrap metal to (ready for this?) CHINA ! (Look it up...) And the poor consumer got saddled with even more debt that they cannot afford.

FEDZILLA'S merry men (who promised that people making less than $250,000. would pay "not one red cent more in taxes") will make millions in new tax revenues after convincing Joe Consumer that he was getting $4500 in "free" money from the "government" In fact, Joe was giving away his $3500 car and paying an additional $3350 for the privilege.

If you find errors in this math, please let me know.. .being a simple guy, I'm always willing to learn new things; and if you took "advantage" of the Clunkers deal, I have some swamp land down inFlorida that's for sale...

And remember, these are the same Einsteins who want to take control of our health care system. Hold on to your wallet!!

Catching Wild Pigs

A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn... When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc... While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. All of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably ignore this message, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

Keep your eyes on the politicians who are about to slam the gate on America ..

Dressed To Kill

Tarek Fatah writes in the Ottawa Citizen:

No one seemed to notice the significance of the attire that Maj. Nidal Hasan was wearing the morning of the killings. It was captured on a store surveillance video where he bought a coffee....

Hasan was wearing the "shalwar-kameez," the traditional attire worn by Pashtuns on both sides of the Pakistan-Afghan border....I have lived a decade in the Arab world and not once did I see an Arab wearing the shalwar-kameez.

There is one particular group of Arabs who did embrace the garb of the Pashtuns - those who went to Afghanistan to wage jihad alongside al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

This guy was walking around a U.S. military installation dressed like Osama bin Laden and nobody said anything, yet the Army is being accused of intolerance and anti-Muslim bias. To repeat, according to Tarek Fatah, Hasan was not merely dressed in traditional Arab garb--he dressed in the traditional garb of al Qaeda terrorists. But the left worries about how he was affected by the combat stress of others at the base, rather than ask how Iraq and Afghanistan veterans must have felt coming across a guy dressed like this at the convenience store. He dressed like a terrorist, he went to a mosque frequented by terrorists, he emailed with terrorists, he sympathized with terrorists and he ultimately carried out an act of terror. Yet in the course of Obama's fine speech yesterday, the word terror was not mentioned once -- wouldn't want to offend anyone.

Our Government At Work

Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY .........During the Carter Administration ?

ANYBODY ? ANYTHING ? NO ?

Didn't think so.

Bottom line ....We have spent hundreds of billions of dollars on an agency that no one can remember why it was created.
Ready ??? It is very simple. The Department of Energy was created on 8- 4-1977 to lessen our dependence on Foreign oil.Everyone thought, What a great idea.

Hey, Pretty efficient, don't you think ?

Now it is 2009. Thirty two years later. The annual budget for the Department is $24.2 Billion dollars. It employees 16,000 people. They have over 100,000 contract employees.

It is time to slap your forehead and ask, What were they thinking ? Ah yes ... Good old Government bureaucracy.

And now we are going to turn over the running of Banking, the Auto Industry and Health care to these people!

U.S. Looks To Cut Deficit With Unused TARP Funds: Report

(Reuters) – The White House is looking to cut its budget deficit by using some unspent funds from the U.S. government's Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), the Wall Street Journal said, citing people familiar with the matter.

Members of the Obama administration are still debating the idea, the paper said, adding that the administration would still like to keep some of the unspent money in case of emergencies.

A U.S. Treasury source told Reuters that it was shifting the focus of the TARP program toward helping small business and the housing sector rather than large banks.

"As that focus shifts, we expect to use significantly less TARP funding than authorized," the source said. "We will maintain the flexibility to deal with a future crisis, and uninvested TARP money is dedicated to reducing the debt."

The U.S. budget deficit soared to a record $1.4 trillion in the fiscal year that ended on September 30 and is expected to be about the same this fiscal year as the economic slump caused tax revenues to plunge and spending soared.

Budget experts project deficits will remain stubbornly high over the next 10 years even as the economy improves, which could lead to increased borrowing costs, further weakness in the U.S. dollar and runaway inflation.

The Journal added that the projected long-term cost of TARP will likely be lowered from $341 billion to as little as $200 billion.
