Bubba Sighting A Year Ago

While the construction was going on last year at the new Fire Station, Gary Comegys was regularly seen visiting the site to see how things were going. Of course, he was on the SHA's time but hey, it can't hurt if they don't know, right?

You have to ask yourself, what will he do with his regular job, retire? Is he actually considering doing both jobs? I mean, Mayor Tilghman says it's a full time position, right?

When it comes election time, let's see how stupid the citizens of Salisbury actually are? Oh, remember, we'll be able to tell just how stupid they are by the vote count, no matter how bad he loses too.

Question of the Day, Mon 8/11

This week (Aug 9 - 17) is Elvis Week. Saturday, 8/16 is Elvis Presley Rememberance Day.

Are you an Elvis fan? Do you know someone who is an Elvis fan? Is he really dead or do you believe the hype of him still being alive? Do you think he was a true rock-n-roller? Overall, what's your opinion of Elvis Presley?

Happy 276th Birthday Salisbury

One year ago on this date the City celebrated its 275th Birthday. Thanks to Linda Kent, SOMETHING was done about it. I'm certain this year it will quietly pass, except here on Salisbury News.

Stupid, Uncalled For Comments

I mention John Robinson in one Post and the next thing I know I've got more ridiculous comments, racial comments, curse words and just flat out stupid childish junk flying on here like there's no tomorrow.

The SU Post I put up has also brought in ridiculous comments as well. If you can't stay on topic, if you use curse words, if you simply make a stupid and or racial comment, it's NOT going up.

In the mean time, if I see comments that aren't on topic and you're not John Robinson, don't get too ticked off because I deleted/rejected it. This is not a place for children. I've let the last ones through. Keep it decent or it's not going up and that goes for you too Crugly. Take the foul language somewhere else because it's not getting posted.

Breaking News!!!!!

Just got this from OC HMRA:

From the Town of OC Emergency Officials:

I just received a call from Buzzy Bayles in OC Emergency Services. A tractor trailer swerved to avoid a car who cut him off and the tractor trailer went over the eastbound Bay Bridge, taking out a small section of the railing. MD Dept of Transportation announced the Eastbound lanes will be closed today. Traffic will be only on the westbound portion of the Bay Bridge; 2 lanes westbound and 1 lane eastbound.

Please alert your guests. You may want to suggest they use Delaware routes to return home. Also, if time permits, please post a message on your marquee. Perhaps you could state:

Eastbound Bay Bridge closed today. Travel DE routes.

A SU Student Speaks Out About The Salisbury Police Department

Dear Joe,

First I'd like to thank you for spending so much time on Salisbury News. I
stumbled onto the site about 3 or 4 months ago and I read it regularly. The
Daily Times is on the same level as the school newspaper in terms of quality of
writing, reporting, and relevancy, and it costs money! So thank you for the
blog.

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you a couple of anecdotes about the SPD.

In my freshman year of college my friend got busted for pot. He had, oh, I
don't know, 1.5 grams left from an 1/8 (3.5 grams) he had bought a week prior.
I know this for an absolute fact. But when it got to the station it weighed in
at just under 5 grams and he was charged with intent to distribute. The SPD
lied on the report so that they could charge him with a worse crime. It's not
like he had any baggies, or even a scale.

In my sophomore year another friend of mine was unfortunate enough to get a DUI.
The police officer that busted him was kind enough to drive him to the station
and back at around 100 miles per hour. Now this is hear-say but I do believe my
friend, and what happened next I witnessed in person. The officer dropped my
friend off on Dogwood Avenue, proceeded to speed through the parking lot to turn
around, and then PEELED OUT and sped away. This was actually a young MD State
Police Officer and not SPD but it is all symptomatic of the same condition.

In my junior year two friends of mine had their houses illegally broken into by
the SPD where numerous SU students were maced, pepper bombed, and otherwise
assaulted (and I mean literally beaten and bloodied). One of these cases was
actually mentioned on your blog (Salisbury University Students Reach Out).
Guys, we're college students, we don't have weapons and while we may want to
avoid arrest, we aren't going to try to resist arrest in the face of an officer,
much less a SWAT team.

Now, I was reading on your blog about the murders this summer and I couldn't
help but think where I was on July 28th. I know I went to a small birthday
party around that time which got busted for loud noise. I left about an hour
afterwards, but the cops that busted us (3 police in 3 cars) were STILL HANGING
AROUND OUTSIDE. And I couldn't help but think that the police find out about a
murder or a rape about once a week (www.salisburypd.com), so what are these
three officers hoping to accomplish? Are they hoping to bust YET MORE COLLEGE
STUDENTS?

I tried to look up the crime statistics for the years before the current police
chief was appointed, and surprise surprise, they aren't available. But I would
be willing to bet that there is a negative correlation between the ratio of
pot/alcohol busts and real crimes. In other words, as more college students are
getting busted for cannabis and alcohol, more real criminals are committing more
real crimes. It's PATHETIC. The S.P.D. is a clown show and the chief is an
absolute joke. The Berwyn heights incident and the somerset county incident you
wrote on are proof that the police are out of control from the top-down.

I can think of a lot of other examples but these are one's that I know, first
hand, to be true.

Also, have you checked out the S.P.D. website? http://www.salisburypd.com/index.html
I have designed numerous websites from the ground up, and I can tell you that
it's a terribly amateurish, poorly designed site. It doesn't even say who
designed it but I'm sure they got paid, overpaid, with tax money.

One more thing before I sign off, Joe. You have said over and over again that
we need new blood to take power in WiCo. And I agree, but look at the S.P.D.
for example. Who would want to join a militant-hair-cut-wearing,
gun-wielding-for-penis-compensation, beating-up-college-kids, dog-shooting,
clown show such as the SPD? I fear that if anyone with a good heart actually
joined the force, they would be alienated and castigated for trying to change
anything or for standing up to any of the officers with seniority. And that
probably is true in politics, too. To change anything I think a lot of firing
and rehiring would have to take place from the bottom up.

Thank you for reading, and I hope some of this has been food for thought.

- daunted college student

HOOTERS, I have That Number On Speed Dial

The Lovely Downtown Plaza

Do you recall all the way back to the Mike Dunn days when I was posting these pictures of the Downtown Plaza and Mike stated at a Council Meeting that they needed to do something about the residential trash being placed in trash cans on the Plaza?

Obviously their PLAN never worked because the trash cans are regularly overflowing and as usual, the Mayor has failed everyone on the Plaza and couldn't care less. It's time for a change in Salisbury and considering Bubba was the one agreeing with Mike Dunn, obviously he has no clue how to seriously complete a project and just states what the people want to hear and then drops the ball. And this guy wants to run for Mayor? Sounds like a lot of the same, if you ask me.

What to do if your stopped by the Police

Single Vehicle Accident On Rt 50 West Backs Up Traffic

A single vehicle lost control heading west bound on Rt 50, hit an old telephone/utility poll and flipped several times. The two people inside were trapped while the Fire Department carefully got them out. One through the drivers window and the other through the rear window. Traffic backed up for miles on Rt. 50 as everyone seemed to want to stop and take a look at what was going on. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Department closed off one lane so emergency vehicles could get in and out of the scene.

Friday's Gas Prices

This was somewhat of a relief considering we filled up the Motor Coach and took a couple of days off. Sam's Club is kicking every one's tail, especially Gordy Marts. The lowest I've seen them is $3.71 on Friday at Nanticoke Rd. IMHO, I believe they continue to gouge everyone by reducing their prices far slower than anyone else.

Another SHA Bubba Spotting

The Bubba take home vehicle is once again parked in front of his home again this weekend. Your tax dollars hard at work. The big question is, will he retire from the SHA before he runs for Mayor? Or will he suck off the taxpayers and double dip?

What am I thinking, this Idiot would never win anyway.

Classified Ad Scam

Hey Joe.

This very generic email that doesn't mention which item the person wants (I had two posted the first week of your classifieds, nonetheless) appears to be straight out of a Craig's List scam. It doesn't mention the item and they want to pay with a certified check or money order. The part missing is paying extra for their "shipping agent," but why would they want to mail me a check if they are local to the area and they could just pick it up?

Thinking that there's good in the world, I sent a reply asking for specific info regarding the item they are interested in without giving options to see if this person just missed that part of the email. The scammers usually don't respond since they spam lots of people and can't really give much attention to specifics.

I'll keep you informed if I get any more info about this person. but I thought you may want to ask around and see if anybody else is getting emails like this. If a pattern emerges, your readers may be targeted by scammers. Perhaps you could mention a possible problem and ask your readers to send you suspicious emails to compare?

Nazi America Part II

Wymzie,

If you think that's bad, the Salisbury Police Chief did almost the exact same thing to one of his own Officers just recently, (two weeks ago) where the Officer had his Family, (wife and three children) in their home and a friend of one of the children spending the night on a sleep over.

The SPD, (5 Officers) and MD State Police showed up at their home in Somerset County, YES, Somerset County, pounded on his door at 3:00 AM, woke everyone up and served search warrants to search the entire home and property.

The charges were BULLSHIT, the Chief of the Salisbury Police Department is the same scumbag piece of sh!t as the other story you mention earlier and he KNEW his Officer had done nothing wrong. Hence finding absolutely NOTHING in their lengthy search on their home.

I could go into all the details but I'll save everyone the lengthy story. What I will tell you is, while he was at work earlier, they never once questioned him. Never asked if HE had anyone for an alibi and if they had, they would have learned instantly the charges were complete bullshit!

Nope, that's not how Chief Webster and Barrie Tilghman work. Now here's the kicker of it all. Do you think they went to the woman who falsely accused this Officer and charged her for false information? NOPE! They actually refused to do so when the Officer allegedly requested it.

So why do I have NO respect t for that piece of sh!t Webster? Because like I've said from day one, he sucks at what he does and he'll do anything to intimidate his Staff into respecting him. NOT ME! I think he SUCKS!

Bald headed man/grand jury/Annapolis/calls to Tilghman/perjury. Riddle me this Chiefy, who would have done such a thing? I've done more investigating on that case then you did on one of your own Officers. Chief Webster SUCKS at what he does.

Welcome to Nazi America!

By now I am sure that most of you have heard about the police raid conducted on the home of the Berwyn Heights, MD, Mayor and his family.
Prince Georges County Maryland Sheriffs Department SWAT Team busted through the doors of the Mayors home, shot and killed his two Labrador Retrievers, handcuffed his elderly mother in law face down on the floor next to one of the dead dogs, and sat the handcuffed Mayor on floor wearing only his boxers.
What happened to knocking on the door to serve a warrant?
For years and years we have become calloused watching shows like 'Cops' bust down alleged drug dealers doors, because of accumulated survelance and evidence gathering. We as viewers assume that these guys are bad and it's ok to do this. After all, this is in bad neighborhoods with bad people right?
Well this week it happened to an upper middle class white couple who are apparently pretty upstanding members of their community, and now, and only now is there a sound of outrage and infringement on our Constitutional Rights.
The Baltimore Sun did an excellent report on this story to read the whole article go here
Are we as Americans going to stand for this type of treatment? Is this the police state that we are going to allow to rule our lives?
Wake Up People!

Little Johnny Had it Right

A teacher in Elmira , New York asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands...except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he had decided to be different.

Little Johnny said, 'Because I'm not an Obama fan.'

The teacher asked, 'Why aren't you an Obama fan?'

Johnny said, 'Because I'm a Republican.'

The teacher asked him why he's a Republican.

Little Johnny answered, 'Well, my Mom's a Republican and my Dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican.'

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, 'If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?'

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied,
'An Obama fan.'

Firefighter Tony Waller Man's Up & Speaks His Mind

"You know I have stayed out of the fray until now....

Yes, this Tony Waller and I did not start this but I will end this as far as my name is concerned. The stupid m'frs that want to take shots at me ought to have the 'nads to sign their posts. However I know they will never do that becuase they do have any honor, courage or commitment to their craft as firefighters. Matter of fact these are the same people who suck up to the Department leadership in person and then turn around and talk bad or belittle them while their back is turned. In case you can't figure it out they are a bunch of little d*ck cowards.

Neither one of you stupid, lowlife SOB's who takes shots at me can put a candle to me and my accomplishments in life. I may not be the most outstanding firefighter however none of you have the right to judge me. In fact some of you have skeletons in your own closets as well. Don't think I cannot discern who some of the post are because your writing styles mimic the same mannerism that I have seen around the firestation.

What amazes me is that you want to make comments beyond the firestation about things such as my military career. Humm ... I want to now what makes you uniquely qualified to comment? In reality your are small-minded little pr&cks that have never done anything beyond the confines of Salisbury, MD or Wicomico County.

The reason why I was not selected for the LT. position because Steve Records made that choice. I do have a history with him and it is not all good. However, He and Salisbury Fire Department will have to live with that decision that they made.

I do have choices in my life and they include how I will volunteer my time at Salisbury Fire Department. Now please keep me the f*ck out of this conversation or I will start calling people out by name and airing your dirty laundry."

ONLY REAL MEN USING THEIR REAL NAMES NEED RESPOND.

WICOMICO COUNTY OUT OF TOUCH W/ PICKENS PLAN

The weblink previously posted for Wicomico County's purchase of 87 Octane gasoline and Diesel fuel is not in compliance with the T. Boone Picken's plan.

http://www.wicomicocounty.org/purchase/SEALED%20BIDS/MOTOR%20FUEL%202008.htm

The Picken's plan proposes to substitute domestic propane gas as a replacement to importing expensive foreign oil. This is especially true for mass transits as is being implemented by the nation's largest mass transit LAMT.

Wicomico County is not in compliance with adhering to America's comprehensive energy plan for weaning our dependence on expensive foreign oil.

The above bid notice speaks volumes as to Wicomico County's Energy policy.

New Collector Road Near Bypass Almost Complete

While workers clearly prove they are on the move, this new collector road through the west end of Salisbury looks very close to seeing pavement and completion. I must admit, it sure is going to make life a lot easier on this people living in Nithsdale and that end of town.

50% SOLD?

I'm sure everyone remembers the big billboard sign on the corner of this property stating 50% of these Condos were sold. Were you one of the people that purchased one of these Units? If so, (I doubt anyone actually did) did you get your money back? Are you fighting them in Court? Do you believe these signs any more stating they're 50% sold when they post that? Do you think it's illegal for these companies to lie to people?

What I can tell you is, this is a perfect example of how Salisbury cannot afford to keep growing and annexing all over the place. There's so much product on the market right now, people are waiting forever to get their property sold and the prices are dropping so fast it isn't funny. Just look at the Old Mall Property. NOTHING is happening there and I've heard recently that people are becoming soft on the property owners because the market is so soft. You people are falling for it hook, line and sinker.

What do you think the City should do about this piece of property sitting like it is?

Neighbors Not Being Neighborly

Jeremy Gordy has been known to be a nuisance to his neighborhood and community with numerous calls to the City for a multitude of violations. A few weeks ago neighbors called about trash being stored on his property and when the City came out AGAIN to inspect the situation, they felt that considering it was on a trailer, it would soon find its way to the Dump. NOT!

A letter was sent out to Mr. Gordy asking him to remove the trash but nothing has come of it. What's your feelings on neighbors who violate the City's Codes? Have you had success dealing with the City to have the situation corrected in a timely manor? Do you think leaders lead by example?

Question of the Day, Fri 8/8

This question brought to you by Gin:

I have heard many people talking about ethanol that's being added to gasoline. Some have said they have had problems with their cars after using it for a while.

Do you have any opinion on ethanol? Do you like it/dislike it? Have you seen any change? Have you heard of others having problems with the additive? Do you find it burns just like regular gasoline?

City To Sell Off Fire Trucks

The Fire Department is going to declare Ladder 16 and the 88 Pierce Arrow Fire Engine as surplus. Before they go cutting them in half and stick them through a wall at the new Fire Station, perhaps they should give this some real effort to sell these things?

OCPD Press Release

OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND

August 7, 2008 2008005852
Quite often, citizens' hunches turn out to be valuable information to us. If you have information that you feel we should know, we encourage you to leave us e-mail. OCPD@ococean.com

OCPD Arrest Man for Passing Counterfeit Money
On August 7, 2008, Ocean City Police Officers began receiving complaints from downtown boardwalk businesses regarding counterfeit $20 bills being passed.
OCPD officers immediately began alerting boardwalk area businesses to be on the lookout for the counterfeit money. Several downtown businesses located several of
the counterfeit $20 bills.

OCPD officers have recovered six, $20 dollar bills having the following three different serial numbers: IB114089849C, IB23218949B and EB75935983J.

Based on information obtained by officer during the investigation a suspect description wasbroadcast. OCPD investigators located a male fitting the description of the suspect that had previously been put out. A store clerk who had received one of the counterfeit $20 bills positively identified the suspect as the person who passed the counterfeit money.

As a result of information obtained during the investigation, the suspect, identified as Eric Lyndell Searles, (36) of Capital Heights, Maryland was arrested and charged with passing a counterfeit $20 bill as well as misdemeanor theft.
Every year the public is victimized by the counterfeiting of United States currency and other U.S. obligations. Please carefully examine the money you receive.

The United States Secret Service web site (www.secretservice.gov) is a good source forinformation regarding the various types of unique identification and currency authentication marks for all U. S. Currency.

All Ocean City businesses please use take a few extra minutes to examine large denominations of money. Do not solely rely on the “counterfeit identification pen” to detect counterfeit bills. Pay attention to watermarks, serial numbers and print quality of the bill. Searles was taken before a District Court Commissioner and released on his own recognizance.

In All Fairness to the WCLCB ...

Wednesday I had an interesting conversation with someone affiliated with the Wicomico County dispensary. This individual confirmed that the dispensaries on the north and east sides of Salisbury were closed so that employees could attend Tuesday's Wicomico County Council meeting. However, this individual was emphatic that employees were not paid for their time while attending the meeting.

Note - this is neither a retraction, nor a correction. As I stated, "If they were paying those dispensary employees in the audience they were (embezzling from the taxpayers of Wicomico County)." As I have no reason to believe that this person lied to me, we can only conclude that they weren't.

Does this mean that I no longer consider the WCLCB a "corrupt dinosaur"? Of course not! IF the members of the dispensary board stop doling out your tax dollars for their own selfish ends ... or IF the the board miraculously becomes good and faithful stewards of YOUR money ... then the dispensary may cease to be corrupt. It will remain a dinosaur none the less.

Salisbury Firefighters Are Pissed!

The Bill Gordy and Chief See slick tactics never seem to end.

If you're not affiliated with the Salisbury Fire Department, Deputy Chief Bill Gordy has a Son names Jeremy. Throughout his time in the Salisbury Fire Department as a volunteer he has been suspended so many times it isn't funny. His slick tactics and refusal to follow the rules has continuously kept him in deep trouble regularly and he certainly does NOT have the respect of the majority of the other Firefighters working hard to get their time in and earn different positions within the Fire Department.

There was a recent announcement made that See & Gordy have PROMOTED this young man to acting lieutenant, all of which he does NOT have even the basics to fill those shoes. In order to fill that position you must have the following.
3 EMT Classes, he allegedly flunked out whenever he went into these courses.
Officers Course, he does not have this.
Inspector 1 Course, he does not have this.
Instructor Course, he does not have this.
A Driver Course, he does not have this.

There isn't a Firefighter, (so I'm told) in the Fire Department that isn't royally pissed off at Bill Gordy right now. There is a process to make things equal for all Firefighters and they bypassed that entire system to get this kid into this position and believe me, no one is happy.

The way the system is set up, if you're one week shy of having enough time in and a position opens, you CANNOT get the position and must wait for the next one to open. NOT in the Gordy case!

See & Gordy have gone too far this time Folks. Expect to see MANY Volunteers to simply walk away from Station 16. I don't know who these guys think they are but they have screwed every taxpayer as well as the Volunteer Staff and hopefully this time they follow through with their threats and teach the SFD a lesson that they aren't going to take it any more. However, I have learned in the past that most of these guys are all talk and bellyache about things. Hopefully this time some of these young men grow a set? Time will tell!

And everyone wonders why I have an attitude towards many of the leaders in Salisbury. Come on now, this guy has been suspended more than anyone ever has in the SFD. He's even had to allegedly take a Anger Management Course to boot. Yeah, another great leader in the City of Salisbury, NOT!

An Anonymous Comment Came In About The Sheriff's Department

"Well Joe since you decided to post this story, how about you write a story about how sheriff's deputies are pissed because Mike Lewis is letting Jason Chance come back to work after all of his comments he made back during the whole Davis Ruark incident. Where is that story Joe???? I thought you were supposed to expose all that was corrupt in the city and county? Didn't Mike Lewis make the comment that one his deputies would be fired no questions asked. Grow some Joe and post a story about that!!!!! But you won't because you're all buddy buddy with Mike and god forbid you get on his bad side." The "story" they're referring to is the Gordy story.

Let me answer that question point blank for you. The Officer you mention was suspended WITH PAY! This Officer was bragging to EVERYONE about how he was out ENJOYING his paid time off surfing at the Beach and all sorts of other activities AT THE TAXPAYERS EXPENSE!

Sheriff Lewis got wind of this going on and made a fiscally responsible decision to get his a$$ back to work pushing paper because this Officer was smacking everyone in the face and laughing at them.

My hat is tipped to Sheriff Lewis for making such a responsible decision and if ANY of the Officers, (as you claim) are pissed off because Sheriff Lewis brought him back, they need to look for work elsewhere.

Now get back to work Lordy!

The Isabella Street Fiasco!

Let me first start out by telling you who was on this little board called the Process Action Team. BARRIE TILGHMAN, JENNY CLEARY AND MICHAEL DAY'S WIFE! What does that tell you for starters? The details of their findings never went public. That is, until now!

The Marina Expense

Since when has the City ever boosted the economic & development in the City without it being at the cost of the Taxpayers? If they sold the Marina it would still serve the Public just as well, probably better the more I think about it. Last year and the year before, I believe the City gave back almost $35,000.00 a year because the company operating the Marina lost money!

The New Fire Station Expenses

The question said he wanted an itemized expense list. Furniture and Fixtures is NOT an itemized list. Nevertheless, here's your breakdown Folks.

Bottled Water In The GOB

I have already proven this to be a lie several months ago.

The Tawes Clam Bake Expense

Perhaps we should consider all of the other Regional attractions like the Ward Museum and so many others involved. I should add, S.J. may not have asked his question properly. You see, the Zoo could have been billed separately for the Zoo through the Zoo Commission and the expense could actually be twice what they're claiming? Either way, that was an expense close to $2,000.00, add at least another $2,000.00 in salaries for everyone to be there.

WARNING! IF YOU HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE DON'T READ THE NEXT FEW POSTS

S.J. Disharoon went before the City Council and asked a series of questions he believe the Taxpayers would like answers to. These were the questions and responses.

YOU, the Taxpayer just spent more than $5,000.00 to be informed of such a report. The question I have is, IF this report hadn't been allegedly so favorable, would you have received such a notice? To top that off, how many other reports are done by the City you don't hear about?

Your Tax Dollars Again, Hard At Work!

John Robinson Is In The News Again Today

The infamous legend in his own mind John Robinson made it into the news again today as his trial has once again been postponed. Not that I believe anything will happen to John, accidents do happen.

Broadway Comes To Wicomico County!

(Salisbury, MD) The Wicomico Youth and Civic Center and Theatre Council Productions of Chicago, Illinois are thrilled to announce a new entertainment opportunity for the Delmarva community. Together, they will bring a full season of first-class, official Broadway road show productions to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center as part of the first season of “Broadway in Salisbury.” The coming season features five Great White Way Tony-winning blockbuster productions.

The 2008-2009 “Broadway in Salisbury” series will showcase top-quality touring Broadway productions direct from New York. The series will feature five spectacular shows including Chicago, Oliver, Movin’ Out, Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy and Lord of the Dance.

The inaugural “Broadway in Salisbury” season demonstrates a commitment by the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center to bring the Broadway arts to Delmarva. “I’ve been here long enough to remember when theater fans had to travel 200 miles or more to see professional productions. Thanks to the efforts of Gary Mackes and the Youth & Civic Center staff, this is no longer the case. ‘Broadway in Salisbury’ will be a great plus in our cultural and economic lives,” said Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., Wicomico County Executive.

In honor of Wicomico County’s local arts organizations the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center and Theatre Council Productions donated the first three inaugural subscription packages to the Salisbury Wicomico Art Council. Director James Gillespie accepted the donation at a press conference held at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Thursday, August 7. “The Arts Council is honored to be the recipient of this generous gift. Attracting quality performances to Wicomico County provides accessibility to the arts that might otherwise not be available to residents bound by travel or budgetary limitations.”

The three season tickets will be used as a first prize gift incentive for a new SWAC program called "Bookworms for Broadway." All Wicomico County middle school students will be eligible to win this first prize by reading books throughout the month of September. Information will be available in the schools when classes begin. Program is in partnership with the Wicomico County Public Library. 410.543.2787 for more information.

Broadway in Salisbury Season tickets range from $137 to $228 and will be available in two package options. The Classic Package features Chicago, Oliver, Movin’ Out and Cirque Dreams. The Platinum Package includes all five shows and ranges from $168 to $228. Purchasing a subscription package can save subscribers over $32 per seat versus buying individual tickets. Dinner packages by Encore Catering are also available for purchase and range from $100 to $125.

Season tickets go on sale to the public on August 11. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (888) 610-BWAY (2929) or visit us at www.BROADWAYINSALISBURY.com

This is very exciting for the residents of Wicomico County! The idea of paying almost $4.00 a gallon for gas and traveling to Washington, D.C., Wilmington, New York and other locations to see a Show, this is a great deal!

The Theatre Council Productions will ask Middle School Students to read as many books as possible and the top three winners will win $1,000.00 worth of tickets as well as a Limo Ride to the first Show. Their project is called, "Bookworms For Broadway."

Remember, tickets go on sale MONDAY, so if you want good seats and hopefully any seats at all. get on board right away. Again, another possible once in a lifetime opportunity.

New Meter Rates

"Good morning, Joe!

I was downtown yesterday and as I was dropping my quarters in the meter, I noticed they were only registering 20 minutes a pop! Since when did that change from the usual 30 minutes? And I can’t remember the last time I used a meter that actually registered every quarter I dropped in-I’m guessing I could take a small vacation with all the money I’ve LOST in those things! I actually took the time to go in the Government Office Building one day to let them know a certain meter was not functioning-can you guess if they seemed to care?"

This has been in the news for quite some time. However, I wasn't aware that it already went into affect. Someone has to pay for the Fire Station.

Wayne Gilchrest's Extreme Makeover

You want to talk about ironic politics. What if I were to tell you to expect Wayne Gilchrest to endorse Frank Kratovill? That's right, a Republican will jump ship in the very near future and pull a Bill Duvall, cross the line, (which we all knew who he really was in the past anyway) and this man is now going to start wearing dresses instead of pants.

Greg Bassett, do you see the real man you stood behind all those years now? There's a very strong reason he was voted out of Ofice and because your Wife worked for him, you just couldn't open your eyes wide enough to see the reality of it all.

Nevertheless, you heard it here first Ladies & Gentlemen. Gilchrest will endorse Kratovill and I can't wait for all his Republican Supporters to see who this man really is and has been. A RINO. Or should I say, another Louise Smith?

New Council Room Table

Here goes another Exclusive by Salisbury News, will the Mayor get pissed off at my knowing about this in advance too?

It turns out, (and I agree) the table the City & County Council Members sit at was a VERY poor design. All too often you see Council members leaning as far forward as they can, (some have to see around the likes of Shanie Shields) in order to see their face.

This new layout/design will allow each Council Member to see one and other as well as the audience. I mentioned this to some associates of mine and boy were they ticked. It surprised me, so let's see where this Post takes us?

Question of the Day, Thur 8/7

This question brought to you by Ben:

There are only 4 months and 16 days until Christmas.

That's 20 paychecks. For those of you who get payed bi-weekly, it's only 10 paychecks away.

So, have you thought about Christmas?

Mayor Tilghman Takes A Leak, Seriously!

Mayor Barie Tilghman is furious over my having the "heads up" on a recent spot inspection at the Chesapeake Inn Motel last week. Word on the street is, she blew another gasket and is demanding to find out who leaked the information to me.

You have to wonder, why? What does it matter? Each article gained very high praise by Salisbury News as to how they were handled and the mere fact the facts were exposed.

Tom Stevenson handled himself professionally as well as Susan Philips. However, I will say to all of you, the Salisbury Fire Department refused to back up Code and Compliance and even after numerous calls to the Fire Station when they were needed, no one ever showed up. They were asked two days in advance and one individual is claiming he simply forgot.

Do you know why that's not true? Because we called in while the Thrift Inn Motel Sweep was going on to ask for backup and they still refused to come out. That's right, you pay $10,000,000.00 for their new Fire Bunkie Station and now they're too god to do their jobs, just like the 5 minute rule with the City Council. Pay them more, get far less.

Anyhow Mayor Tilghman, don't get your panties in a twist over me knowing so much. You're going to get blown away in a Court Room in the near future with even more information I know of that hasn't been exposed and boy, let me assure you, you're going to look like you belong behind bars.

Besides, you should see what I know about the Salisbury Police Department! Lord knows that if I say a word about any of that the people I respect most would be suspended, demoted or even fired, right Chiefy? I have to be careful because the Chief knows I have Intel Information weeks ago about the recent murder in Salisbury and was sweating bullets thinking I was going to expose what I knew.

So Barrie, go to a plumber the next time. They're the best place to take a leak.

Where Have All The Leaders Gone?

Excerpt
Where Have All the Leaders Gone?
By Lee Iacocca with Catherine Whitney

Had Enough?

Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, "Stay the course."

Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned Titanic. I'll give you a sound bite: Throw the bums out!

You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore. The President of the United States is given a free pass to ignore the Constitution, tap our phones, and lead us to war on a pack of lies. Congress responds to record deficits by passing a huge tax cut for the wealthy (thanks, but I don't need it). The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs. While we're fiddling in Iraq, the Middle East is burning and nobody seems to know what to do. And the press is waving pom-poms instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of America my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for. I've had enough. How about you?

I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready and willing to have.

My friends tell me to calm down. They say, "Lee, you're eighty-two years old. Leave the rage to the young people." I'd love to—as soon as I can pry them away from their iPods for five seconds and get them to pay attention. I'm going to speak up because it's my patriotic duty. I think people will listen to me. They say I have a reputation as a straight shooter. So I'll tell you how I see it, and it's not pretty, but at least it's real. I'm hoping to strike a nerve in those young folks who say they don't vote because they don't trust politicians to represent their interests. Hey, America, wake up. These guys work for us.

Who Are These Guys, Anyway?

Why are we in this mess? How did we end up with this crowd in Washington? Well, we voted for them—or at least some of us did. But I'll tell you what we didn't do. We didn't agree to suspend the Constitution. We didn't agree to stop asking questions or demanding answers. Some of us are sick and tired of people who call free speech treason. Where I come from that's a dictatorship, not a democracy.

And don't tell me it's all the fault of right-wing Republicans or liberal Democrats. That's an intellectually lazy argument, and it's part of the reason we're in this stew. We're not just a nation of factions. We're a people. We share common principles and ideals. And we rise and fall together.

Where are the voices of leaders who can inspire us to action and make us stand taller? What happened to the strong and resolute party of Lincoln? What happened to the courageous, populist party of FDR and Truman? There was a time in this country when the voices of great leaders lifted us up and made us want to do better. Where have all the leaders gone?

The Test of a Leader

I've never been Commander in Chief, but I've been a CEO. I understand a few things about leadership at the top. I've figured out nine points—not ten (I don't want people accusing me of thinking I'm Moses). I call them the "Nine Cs of Leadership." They're not fancy or complicated. Just clear, obvious qualities that every true leader should have. We should look at how the current administration stacks up. Like it or not, this crew is going to be around until January 2009. Maybe we can learn something before we go to the polls in 2008. Then let's be sure we use the leadership test to screen the candidates who say they want to run the country. It's up to us to choose wisely.

So, here's my C list:

A leader has to show CURIOSITY. He has to listen to people outside of the "Yes, sir" crowd in his inner circle. He has to read voraciously, because the world is a big, complicated place. George W. Bush brags about never reading a newspaper. "I just scan the headlines," he says. Am I hearing this right? He's the President of the United States and he never reads a newspaper? Thomas Jefferson once said, "Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate for a moment to prefer the latter." Bush disagrees. As long as he gets his daily hour in the gym, with Fox News piped through the sound system, he's ready to go.

If a leader never steps outside his comfort zone to hear different ideas, he grows stale. If he doesn't put his beliefs to the test, how does he know he's right? The inability to listen is a form of arrogance. It means either you think you already know it all, or you just don't care. Before the 2006 election, George Bush made a big point of saying he didn't listen to the polls. Yeah, that's what they all say when the polls stink. But maybe he should have listened, because 70 percent of the people were saying he was on the wrong track. It took a "thumping" on election day to wake him up, but even then you got the feeling he wasn't listening so much as he was calculating how to do a better job of convincing everyone he was right.

A leader has to be CREATIVE, go out on a limb, be willing to try something different. You know, think outside the box. George Bush prides himself on never changing, even as the world around him is spinning out of control. God forbid someone should accuse him of flip-flopping. There's a disturbingly messianic fervor to his certainty. Senator Joe Biden recalled a conversation he had with Bush a few months after our troops marched into Baghdad. Joe was in the Oval Office outlining his concerns to the President—the explosive mix of Shiite and Sunni, the disbanded Iraqi army, the problems securing the oil fields. "The President was serene," Joe recalled. "He told me he was sure that we were on the right course and that all would be well. 'Mr. President,' I finally said, 'how can you be so sure when you don't yet know all the facts?'" Bush then reached over and put a steadying hand on Joe's shoulder. "My instincts," he said. "My instincts." Joe was flabbergasted. He told Bush, "Mr. President, your instincts aren't good enough." Joe Biden sure didn't think the matter was settled. And, as we all know now, it wasn't.

Leadership is all about managing change—whether you're leading a company or leading a country. Things change, and you get creative. You adapt. Maybe Bush was absent the day they covered that at Harvard Business School.

A leader has to COMMUNICATE. I'm not talking about running off at the mouth or spouting sound bites. I'm talking about facing reality and telling the truth. Nobody in the current administration seems to know how to talk straight anymore. Instead, they spend most of their time trying to convince us that things are not really as bad as they seem. I don't know if it's denial or dishonesty, but it can start to drive you crazy after a while. Communication has to start with telling the truth, even when it's painful. The war in Iraq has been, among other things, a grand failure of communication. Bush is like the boy who didn't cry wolf when the wolf was at the door. After years of being told that all is well, even as the casualties and chaos mount, we've stopped listening to him.

A leader has to be a person of CHARACTER. That means knowing the difference between right and wrong and having the guts to do the right thing. Abraham Lincoln once said, "If you want to test a man's character, give him power." George Bush has a lot of power. What does it say about his character? Bush has shown a willingness to take bold action on the world stage because he has the power, but he shows little regard for the grievous consequences. He has sent our troops (not to mention hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens) to their deaths—for what? To build our oil reserves? To avenge his daddy because Saddam Hussein once tried to have him killed? To show his daddy he's tougher? The motivations behind the war in Iraq are questionable, and the execution of the war has been a disaster. A man of character does not ask a single soldier to die for a failed policy.

A leader must have COURAGE. I'm talking about balls. (That even goes for female leaders.) Swagger isn't courage. Tough talk isn't courage. George Bush comes from a blue-blooded Connecticut family, but he likes to talk like a cowboy. You know, My gun is bigger than your gun. Courage in the twenty-first century doesn't mean posturing and bravado. Courage is a commitment to sit down at the negotiating table and talk.

If you're a politician, courage means taking a position even when you know it will cost you votes. Bush can't even make a public appearance unless the audience has been handpicked and sanitized. He did a series of so-called town hall meetings last year, in auditoriums packed with his most devoted fans. The questions were all softballs.

To be a leader you've got to have CONVICTION—a fire in your belly. You've got to have passion. You've got to really want to get something done. How do you measure fire in the belly? Bush has set the all-time record for number of vacation days taken by a U.S. President—four hundred and counting. He'd rather clear brush on his ranch than immerse himself in the business of governing. He even told an interviewer that the high point of his presidency so far was catching a seven-and-a-half-pound perch in his hand-stocked lake.

It's no better on Capitol Hill. Congress was in session only ninety-seven days in 2006. That's eleven days less than the record set in 1948, when President Harry Truman coined the term do-nothing Congress. Most people would expect to be fired if they worked so little and had nothing to show for it. But Congress managed to find the time to vote itself a raise. Now, that's not leadership.

A leader should have CHARISMA. I'm not talking about being flashy. Charisma is the quality that makes people want to follow you. It's the ability to inspire. People follow a leader because they trust him. That's my definition of charisma. Maybe George Bush is a great guy to hang out with at a barbecue or a ball game. But put him at a global summit where the future of our planet is at stake, and he doesn't look very presidential. Those frat-boy pranks and the kidding around he enjoys so much don't go over that well with world leaders. Just ask German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who received an unwelcome shoulder massage from our President at a G-8 Summit. When he came up behind her and started squeezing, I thought she was going to go right through the roof.

A leader has to be COMPETENT. That seems obvious, doesn't it? You've got to know what you're doing. More important than that, you've got to surround yourself with people who know what they're doing. Bush brags about being our first MBA President. Does that make him competent? Well, let's see. Thanks to our first MBA President, we've got the largest deficit in history, Social Security is on life support, and we've run up a half-a-trillion-dollar price tag (so far) in Iraq. And that's just for starters. A leader has to be a problem solver, and the biggest problems we face as a nation seem to be on the back burner.

You can't be a leader if you don't have COMMON SENSE. I call this Charlie Beacham's rule. When I was a young guy just starting out in the car business, one of my first jobs was as Ford's zone manager in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. My boss was a guy named Charlie Beacham, who was the East Coast regional manager. Charlie was a big Southerner, with a warm drawl, a huge smile, and a core of steel. Charlie used to tell me, "Remember, Lee, the only thing you've got going for you as a human being is your ability to reason and your common sense. If you don't know a dip of horseshit from a dip of vanilla ice cream, you'll never make it." George Bush doesn't have common sense. He just has a lot of sound bites. You know—Mr.they'll-welcome-us-as-liberators-no-child-left-behind-heck-of-a-job-Brownie-mission-accomplished Bush.

Former President Bill Clinton once said, "I grew up in an alcoholic home. I spent half my childhood trying to get into the reality-based world—and I like it here."

I think our current President should visit the real world once in a while.

The Biggest C is Crisis

Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It's easy to sit there with your feet up on the desk and talk theory. Or send someone else's kids off to war when you've never seen a battlefield yourself. It's another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down.

On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. Where was George Bush? He was reading a story about a pet goat to kids in Florida when he heard about the attacks. He kept sitting there for twenty minutes with a baffled look on his face. It's all on tape. You can see it for yourself. Then, instead of taking the quickest route back to Washington and immediately going on the air to reassure the panicked people of this country, he decided it wasn't safe to return to the White House. He basically went into hiding for the day—and he told Vice President Dick Cheney to stay put in his bunker. We were all frozen in front of our TVs, scared out of our wits, waiting for our leaders to tell us that we were going to be okay, and there was nobody home. It took Bush a couple of days to get his bearings and devise the right photo op at Ground Zero.

That was George Bush's moment of truth, and he was paralyzed. And what did he do when he'd regained his composure? He led us down the road to Iraq—a road his own father had considered disastrous when he was President. But Bush didn't listen to Daddy. He listened to a higher father. He prides himself on being faith based, not reality based. If that doesn't scare the crap out of you, I don't know what will.

A Hell of a Mess

So here's where we stand. We're immersed in a bloody war with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving. We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the country. We're losing the manufacturing edge to Asia, while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs. Gas prices are skyrocketing, and nobody in power has a coherent energy policy. Our schools are in trouble. Our borders are like sieves. The middle class is being squeezed every which way. These are times that cry out for leadership.

But when you look around, you've got to ask: "Where have all the leaders gone?" Where are the curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, competence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the point.

Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo? We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.

Name me one leader who emerged from the crisis of Hurricane Katrina. Congress has yet to spend a single day evaluating the response to the hurricane, or demanding accountability for the decisions that were made in the crucial hours after the storm. Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping it doesn't happen again. Now, that's just crazy. Storms happen. Deal with it. Make a plan. Figure out what you're going to do the next time.

Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when "the Big Three" referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen—and more important, what are we going to do about it?

Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debt, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.

I have news for the gang in Congress. We didn't elect you to sit on your asses and do nothing and remain silent while our democracy is being hijacked and our greatness is being replaced with mediocrity. What is everybody so afraid of? That some bobblehead on Fox News will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some spine for a change?

Had Enough?

Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out because I have hope. I believe in America. In my lifetime I've had the privilege of living through some of America's greatest moments. I've also experienced some of our worst crises—the Great Depression, World War II, the Korean War, the Kennedy assassination, the Vietnam War, the 1970s oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years culminating with 9/11. If I've learned one thing, it's this: You don't get anywhere by standing on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take action. Whether it's building a better car or building a better future for our children, we all have a role to play. That's the challenge I'm raising in this book. It's a call to action for people who, like me, believe in America. It's not too late, but it's getting pretty close. So let's shake off the horseshit and go to work. Let's tell 'em all we've had enough.

You Won't See One Of These At A Tiger Mart Any More

Other Gas Stations are enjoying pickup and delivery service of CASH because people are choosing other Stations for their needs. People are becoming more educated and choosing to save money wherever they can today. The only unique vehicle I ever found at a Tiger Mart was a Hearse.

SPD Press Release On Murder Case + Editors Note

On August 6, 2008 at approximately 10:20 am, Detectives of the Salisbury Police Department received a communication from the Maryland Medical Examiner’s Office that a positive identification had been made of the female body found in the Northwood Industrial Park on July 28. Utilizing dental records, the victim has been identified as: Audrey Lee Jurewicz, 26 years of age Salisbury, Maryland

Detectives were advised that the cause of death of the victim is homicide. The method of death will not be released at this time due to the continuing investigation. The victim had a prior arrest for prostitution in June of this year, in Salisbury.

Detectives have not identified a suspect in this investigation, however while conducting interviews with known area prostitutes it was revealed that three (3) other women had been assaulted by the same subject, operating the same vehicle. The initial contact between these victims and the suspect occurred in the area of Route 13 and Philadelphia avenue, including the side streets.

This suspect has been described as:
Black male, approximately 25 to 35 years of age, operating a silver sedan with a partial Delaware registration containing the numerals “1882” as the first four digits or displaying a temporary registration.

If anyone has any information concerning the homicide or the assaults of the other victims, they area asked to contact the Salisbury Police Department at 410-548-3165 or to contact Crime Solvers. CC# 200800026818

Editors Note: First of all, it would be nice for the SPD to provide the Crime Solvers Telephone Number with their Press Release, like the WCSO always does.

Secondly, The information provided here has been well known for more than a week now and quite frankly, I have issues with this Press Release. Like it or not, these women have been on the streets doing what they do, WITHOUT any knowledge as to what they might be looking for. At any time, any one of these women could have also been picked up and murdered as well without ever knowing what to look out for. I'm sorry but I personally feel this is BS! I have withheld this information as I did not want to interfere with their investigation, so I made the judgment call to not release the information. Hopefully all of you can tell that this was NOT an easy thing for me to withhold because I personally felt the color of the car, the type of car, the fact that the man they are looking for is a black man and a certain age. To me this is vital information. I am not a Police Officer, a Police Chief or a professional on how to handle such a case. I simply feel it was wrong for them to hold back this information for what, almost two weeks now? They're damn lucky no one else has been killed, THAT WE KNOW OF. What do YOU think should have happened?

SPD Meets The (CALEA) Standards For Re-Accreditation

On July 26, 2008, the Salisbury Police Department was advised that it had met the requirements for re-accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). This was the Salisbury Police Department’s fifth re-accreditation since the original accreditation award in 1987. As a result of uninterrupted accreditation since that date, the department was given Meritorious status.

The re-accreditation represented the successful completion of a continuous process of thorough agency wide self-evaluation, concluded by an exacting outside review by a team of CALEA independent assessors. This recent evaluation and review took place in December of 2007. The Salisbury Police Department is the only department on the Eastern Shore of Maryland that has attained accreditation.

The Salisbury Police Department was the 45th police agency earning accreditation status in the United States. There are now 747 departments that are accredited in five (5) different countries. A Department’s continued accreditation status reflects a continuing quest for professional excellence by remaining in compliance with CALEA standards. CALEA accreditation has become the primary method for a police agency to voluntarily demonstrate its commitment to excellence in law enforcement.

PROJECTED GASOLINE CONSUMPTION FOR WICOMICO

Wicomico County is soliciting bids for 190,000 of 87 Octane gasoline and 190,000 gallons of diesel fuel for FY 2008-2009.

http://www.wicomicocounty.org/purchase/SEALED%20BIDS/MOTOR%20FUEL%202008.htm

Now that is an astronomical amount of fuel being consumed by our County government. Not to mention, an astronomical amount of money being spent from the taxpayers coffers.

One would think that a central terminal would be in order in increase efficiency and streamline process.

Would This Be Acceptable In Your Residential Neighborhood?

While visiting the Playground that got completely fenced in the other day, right next to the residential homes are commercial properties with all sorts of violations in and around them. Moments before I took this picture a City Pickup Truck passed right by this property and didn't look twice. This is why NEW BLOOD needs to come into power in Salisbury.

Another Interesting Threat

"Do you have a metal detector? If not I would suggest you invest in one."

This was a comment that just came in on the 300 W. Main Street Post I put up earlier.

Nope, my door is wide open. Just remember, you are walking into MY home. You know what they say about that when it comes to defense, right? I wonder if this persons name rhymes with Lordy?

An E-Mail That Just Came In

"Joe,

A coworker and I were just talking… and we came up with the idea that you should buy property in Salisbury and run for mayor in the next election J Give Barrie a run for her money… it would be nice to see someone who actually cares about the city in office."

First of all, thank you. However, I do own property, including two residences in Downtown Salisbury. Considering we own too many animals to live in the City of Salisbury, we choose not to reside here.

More importantly, Mayor Barrie Tilghman is not going to run for re-election. Gary Comegys will attempt to take her place instead. So I wouldn't have to worry about running up against Barrie Tilghman.

The way I personally feel about it is, I believe I can do far greater work for the City of Salisbury by sitting on the outside looking in. This Blog has done more for the City than anything else I can think of.

I spent more than 20 years working my tail off to be in the position to retire and not deal with all those pressures any more. I'm not saying one day down the road I wouldn't be interested but right now is not the time.

I'm personally hoping the Citizens will see a Candidate this go around that has the same integrity as let's say Sheriff Mike Lewis. An individual that could get into Office, know there's no hidden agenda and will dedicate their life to giving back to this community. I believe we're going to see some people like that in this upcoming election and Gary Comegys isn't one of them.

I certainly thank you for that kind gesture but I think I'll just sit in the background for a while and watch how the City heals and pulls itself out of the hole Barrie Tilghman has dug them into. It's going to be a long road to any real recovery and everyone is going to have to understand that whomever gets elected is going to take more than 4 years to get things straight.

Remember, the people who will be running who really care have been to most Council Meetings and have been involved in the community for many years. The Barrie Wanna Be's are the slick ones that will start coming out of the woodwork in the very near future.
