The Fire Department is going to declare Ladder 16 and the 88 Pierce Arrow Fire Engine as surplus. Before they go cutting them in half and stick them through a wall at the new Fire Station, perhaps they should give this some real effort to sell these things?

Before they destroy these units which I'm certain are not in that bad of shape, why not consider donating to a smaller remote volunteer fire company?
That 1980 Mack is worth more in scrap than it would be giving it to someone. Seriously. The thing would cost a small department to much to maintain. It's also a disaster waiting to happen. Just ask David Merritt. The 88 Pierce could be used by someone, say down on the Eastern Shore of VA where $$$$ is tight.
Send the ladder to fruitland or parsonsburg.
Why wont they just use these units and try to maintain them? Thats logical.
