Eric The Downtown Barber Says, Business Is Just Fine On The Plaza

"SALISBURY -- Downtown business owners could lose potential customers for a second weekend in a row if wintry weather conditions persist" says the Daily Times.

Not according to Eric Ludwig, owner of the Downtown Plaza Barber Shop. In fact, he left early from Delmar to get into work Saturday morning during the big snow storm. He had customers in his Shop all day.

Eric explained how he paid someone $20.00 to shovel out his store font. "Its a part of doing business."

While some other business owners complained about the lack of snow removal Downtown, others cleared the way themselves to make sure they didn't lose any customers.

Mayor Ireton said, "I assume we're taking care of that," he said. "Once the snow started, my attention went to clearing the main roads; I had to prioritize." I happen to agree with the Mayor.

I'm sorry Folks but this is how government keeps growing. If business owners depend on local government to clear out snow, will they depend on the WWTP to clear out a clogged toilet next?

We're told the photo in the Daily Times today was staged. One witness stated that the photographer had a woman go back and step into the snow so they could take a picture. "There's one little section that had additional snow in it and the photographer asked the woman to stand in it." He went on to say, "It was staged."

Is that JJ the DJ in the chair?

The snow up and down the sidewalk sure looks real to me! The woman may be "staged" but so what!

I have a business on south division street here in salisbury.
I have been here for 20 years..This is the first time our street has been plowed.
Thank you to Mayor Irenton and the city of salisbury.
(The part of South Division that is off Eastern Shore Drive) off the beaten path.

Eric does a great job. I have been there twice and left very satisfied both times.

Eric, start a facebook page and target the college students. This would be a great way to advertise without spending money. Many college students who are not local have to settle for the hair cuttery in the mall. I have been there once and will never go back. It would be a great way to pick up more business. But don't pick up too much because I will have a longer wait.

Im glad you are making it with your business, dude you need some art work,(local) if possible on your walls.

It's a barbershop not an art gallery doug! stop pushing the arts when this city has repeatedly shown that it does not have the client base to support the arts.

Here's the big "duh" on the Plaza snow:

If people weren't getting out because of the snow, they aren't going to go to your business any more than anyone else's.

I know others who had their side street plowed for the first time in years.

Good for the new mayor. Some people just b*tch too much.

What difference does it make if the photo was staged or not? There is still snow on the ground, and a story to be told. Hence - person in snow.

12:03, dont tell me what to think or do. I was just giving my opinion on something, Im glad his business is doing good in this recession. Art is like music it will calm and excite you at the same time. You should try some. Oh not everything has to do with money.

It said on the DT Website that the woman in the picture was the owner of the Escape restaurant and she was quoted in the article. So there's nothing wrong with them taking her picture...

Let it snow this weekend, I'll still be waiting my turn for a hair cut from Eric. Bad weather can't stop a great haircut!

Eric does a great job and is an extremely personable guy. A nice pub right near by would make it well worth the trip!

He does my hair now. Best around. Talks a lot but a small price to pay for the quality cut.

Mayor,
Let us prioritize the ticketing of vehicles parked on snow emergency routes so the plows can get through.

thanks joe for posting this. i was just a little upset that the dt made it seem like all of the businesses downtown were closed, cause they sure didnt come to my shop, they would have seen a different story. i mean all this talk about revitalization of downtown then put a front page story of how dead downtown was just is a slap in my face and the other businesses who were open. thanks again to everyone for your continued patronage.
