While the Unites States Government bails out American Auto Makers, how can the United States put a hurting on those who are doing well. Just get your Pals throughout the Main Stream Media, (MSM) to bash Toyota day in and day out in the hopes of helping GM and the likes to recover that much quicker, that's how.
However, just to spite our government I'm going to take one of my new American Made vehicles up to Toyota tomorrow, trade it in and purchase a brand new Toyota. I happen to think what they're doing is complete BS.
For the last two days I have watched the MSM go on and on about how this is helping boost sales for American made products and quite frankly, not only am I not buying it, I won't buy it.
I have always purchased all different kinds of makes and models ranging from Ford, Chrysler/Dodge, Pontiac, Toyota, (GM) Mercedes and BMW. With 15 cars on my property right now, Toyota will now get my business once again.
I don't know about you but I could see this coming for at least six months now. Tonight one of the major networks presented a whistle blower, a former Toyota attorney, (leave it to an attorney to break attorney/client privileges) to spill the beans, allegedly. This guy reminds me of the father of Balloon Boy.
Nevertheless, I'm not falling for this crap. Toyota makes, (by far) the most reliable vehicles in the world. Even WBOC started playing the game by posting their poll question in the hopes of driving customers away from Toyota. I wonder what kind of personal cars their management/staff drives. My guess would be Toyota's. In fact, I know they do!
So Mr. Obama, you just lost a $40,000.00 purchase from this Americans household simply because I think you and your party are full of crap. Maybe we'll see you in about 250,000 miles or so, but I doubt it.

I only buy american. Never liked GM but we have always had great success with Ford.
I saw the show to. Larry Kudlow claims a US conspiracy to help prop up GM -(Government Motors) - because Obama has a 'dog in the hunt' billion in bailout money to GM. In order to help save face they are trying to tarnish Toyota's image by sicing the NTSB on Toyota.
Little does Obama know there are unbiased networks like SBYnews and Fox that help uproot these false accusations. I'd be willing to bet you that the rest of nation is aware of that to.

Joe, I took my Toyota to Pohanka because of the recall and the service guy put in my name and advised me that my vehicle wasn't being recalled. I asked him why not? The guy said that my vehicle was produced entirely in Japan, only the vehicles that were produced in the US and have parts made in the US are being recalled.

100% Japanese parts, manufactured in Japan. The defective part in the recall is supposedly made in the United States.

My 1st family car was a Toyota. I loved it , never had problems with it we just out grew it . Now I own a Chevy HHR ( only 3 years ) it has had 4 recalls for safety reasons. I agree with you Joe
I have owned Ford and Lincoln products throughout all of my days legally driving vehicles.
I have always had electrical problems as well as transmission problems with Ford and Lincoln.
Mind you, I have a beautiful 1966 Ford Fairlane GTA Convertable with 54,000 miles on it. I've never had an issues with it, go figure. I have a 1995 Cobra Mustang Convertable with 23,000 miles on it. Radio doesn't work and now the lights refuse to come on. Granted, I never drive it but I had the same issue with the last Mustang I had, so I don't think its coincidental. I stopped buying Lincolns because the transmissions would always blow around 36,000 miles. I loved the ride but it just wasn't worth the money any more. Oh, I also have a 1968 Ford Thunderbird that cranks over every time I turn the key. It has around 90,000 miles on it. They just don't make them like they used to.
That being said, I'm not falling for that buy American crap any more. Until American manufacturers get the reputation Japanese auto makers have, I'm done with American cars/trucks.
I think you deserve to have a whole fleet of Toyotas, all from Pohanka.
As I posted earlier, Toyota is now, and will remain the worlds greatest auto maker. As long as the criminal thugs of the UAW have their filthy hands involved, this is how it will stay. I have worked on cars and trucks for over 35 years in this town, and many, many of you reading this blog either know me or know of me. I am a fan of Toyota, and I know of which I speak.

Ford has matched and/or passed Toyota in all the major quality ratings in the past year. With Toyota's latest troubles, the gulf will only widen.

All Ford products (the Mazda was produced when Ford was the majority shareholder) with well over 1 million miles total. I had none of the problems you mentioned. This doesn't mean Ford is perfect...but drawing conclusions on millions of vehicles based on one person's experiences is wholly invalid. To generalize as you did (American crap) is why people don't take you as serious news.

I agree with you about 90% of the time but i gotta tell ya i have owned Fords all my life and have never had ant major problems with them ever. If you check out the Fords that they are cranking out today they have definitely stepped up there game.
I will further continue to support Ford because they are the only american manufacturer that didnt take bailout money.. Go Ford. For that reason alone i will continue to support them.

I was thinking that NOW is the time to go shopping for a Toyota. You see, the prices would be lower than usual, due to all the negative publicity.

I owned an 88' GT Mustang...loved that car till it rusted from the inside out. Then I bought a 90 Toyota SR5 in 94...Put 230,000 miles on it. It rusted. Replaced two starters, one alternator, four fuel filters and three sets of tires. Did most of the labor myself because Toyota's are so easy to work on. Sold it to a Mexican fella in 2002.
It passed me the other day on Route 113. A white kid was driving it. No lie. No doubt it was my old truck.

I am driving a 2006 Honda Ridge Line now. 128,000 miles; On the second set of rear tires (front tires still original)...no major issues so far. Burns out head lights like mad. Probably on the tenth pair at this point. I am not complaining yet.
American car manufacturers need to take note. Japanese cars cost more but, the maintenance is very minimal (IMHO) and is pretty simple to preform to some extent.

Again, show me ONE person who has actually had a problem with their gas pedal sticking. There aren't any. It was a rumor and rather than fighting the American government, Toyota volunterily recalled their vehicles as they knew what was about to happen.

To those with short memories, or perhaps just ignorant, it takes 5 to 7 years to accurately guauge vehicle quality. GM x cars (Citation) were MT Car of the Year in 1980. Also, as I recall, they were not Toyota Explorers rolling over at every turn a few years back. They were FORD Explorers.

Talking about the FORD EXPLORER I like to call it the ford exploder! They have had alot of them catch fire while driving down the road.
I am a proud owner of a Toyota Tacoma from Pohanka in Salisbury, I have never had a problem with it, runs beautifully. I love it and I stand with Toyota through this mess up.

Hey Joe the Avalon is a great choice! I own a 2009 Avalon myself,I had a 2005 Camry(189,500) before that and desided to trade it for the Avalon. I drive long distance alot. And the staff at Pohanka Toyota was great! The managers Bob and Thurman both made me feel like I was just an old Friend. And well I had two sales staff that worked together and got me in and out! Thanks Cliff and Vrigina! If you want a great sales person I would ask for one of those two.

Toyotas, Nissans and Honda are made in non union factories. Obama and the democrats largest campaign contributors are unions. Why would I pay 60.00 an hour for a union made car or truck when the Japanese manufactures a better car or truck for $30.00 dollars per hour. Obama's major goal in life is to destoy the private sector his vision for america is goverment workers, union workers and all major industry controlled by the federal goverment.

7:07AM very well said! And as for the recalls every manufacture has recalls. Type in the vehicle manufacture with recall typed in after and see the list and yes I said LIST of recalls they have had in the past. Don't judge before you do a little research.
Anon 8.51 01 Mazda MPV was all Jap built in Japan chassis was basically a 929. 3.0l V-6 great motor. Quality is more in the engineering than where its built...Mazdas, Hondas, Toyotas etc...built in USA are just as good as ones built overseas.
For God's sake - buy American cars people !!! Our economy depends on it -- in the old days, that's all Americans bought - proudly !! (those old days, by the way, the 70's and 80's)
I go with what ever doesn't let me down. In the past 18 years I have owned 5 Toyotas (92 Camry, 98 Tacoma, 01 Camry, 06 Rav4 and 07 Tundra) and with the exception of my 92 Camry that my nephew totalled they are ALL on the road still and running strong! I have driven over a million miles in Toyotas and I was NEVER once stranded on the side of the road! The only repairs that I ever had to do to any of them were replacing clutches, brake pads, whiney alternators and batteries-all of which I consider standard maintainance/repairs. Put it this way, if I can diagnose the problem and fix it in my garage at home within 2 hours, then it isn't considered a major problem to me.
I bought a 2004 Ford 150 and within 2 years (18,000 miles) I managed to get a cracked head that the dealership somehow blamed on a faulty distributor cap and had numerous electrical problems that often left me without exterior lights! At that time, I decided to abandon Ford for good and traded it in for a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 that was nothing by problems from the day I bought it-from transfer case problems to faulty electronics to transmission failure to broken valves and more-you name it, it broke!! It was in the shop for 63 days of the 267 days I owned the truck; however keep in mind that I quit driving the truck completely after Day 147 (that was when I bought my 07 Tundra)! After my lawyer and I battled Chevrolet for several months, I was awarded a full refund of the original vehicle purchase price plus interest on my loan, taxes, title fees, lawyer fees and an additional $6,500 for inconveniences under Maryland's lemon law. My total settlement was to the tune of $45,700! Chevy would have saved about $16,000 had the dealership simply agreed to take the vehicle back when I initially requested. Out of my 20+ years of driving, the only times I had problems with my vehicles were the 3 years that I owned a domestic vehicle! Also, I tend to sell or give my vehicles to family members, but I would never consider passing my problems on to them! When I tranferred my Toyotas to my brother, neice and nephew I knew that I was passing on a good, reliable quality vehicle to them.
My 07 Tundra has 98,000 miles on it. I have done absolutely no maintenance more than changing the oil, using STP fuel injection cleaner when I fill up, and giving it a good washing and waxing now and then! It has yet to go to the shop for repairs at all! My truck is, however, subject to the current gas pedal recall and let me tell you this, I HAD NO CLUE that there was a pedal malfunction! After getting notice of the recall I was able to recognize that the gas pedal does not rebound as quickly as probably should. Had it not been pointed out to me, I probably wouldn't have noticed. I'm sure that it could be more severe in other vehicles, but I certainly don't see it as a safety issue in my truck especially since there is a pedal to the left call a BRAKE PEDAL-I'm still driving it every day!
Oh and by-the-way, SCREW THE DEMOCRATIC MEDIA! The only reason they are making a big deal out of this is because they are trying to boost domestic sales. If I were on the market to buy a vehicle, I would buy another Toyota this afternoon-even if it had a faulty brake pedal so their tactics aren't working on this American!

Joe: check out the national news in the past few weeks they have shown several toyota vehicle accidents DUE TO THE PEDALS STICKING. One in particular that I am referring to is the family of 4 that died when their pedal stuck. You have many good points but this requires a little bit more than logical reasoning that this with Toyota is because our government wants all Toyota owners to turn the Toys back and buy GM products. Ludicrous thinking.......As well I believe in America and I believe we should support American made products. GOD BLESS AMERICA AGAIN.
