The U.S. intelligence community policy on killing American citizens who have joined al Qaeda requires first obtaining high-level government approval, a senior official disclosed to Congress on Wednesday.
Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair said in each case a decision to use lethal force against a U.S. citizen must get special permission.
"We take direct actions against terrorists in the intelligence community," he said. "If we think that direct action will involve killing an American, we get specific permission to do that."
He also said there are criteria that must be met to authorize the killing of a U.S. citizen that include "whether that American is involved in a group that is trying to attack us, whether that American is a threat to other Americans. Those are the factors involved."
Rep. Peter Hoekstra, Michigan Republican and ranking member of the House intelligence committee, asked Mr. Blair about the policy of targeting American citizens at a hearing. It was the first time there was public discussion about one of the most sensitive U.S. counterterrorism policies.

Do you have a problem with this? All the anti-government, pro-revolution guys out there would be cool with the Government deciding on a "shoot first, ask questions later" approach to killing US citizens who may or may not be part of a terrorist organization?

In all honesty, the U.S government and our military are two separate things. many of us with family in the military know that. Obama is now trying to use the national Guard for his purpose. if we do not stop terrorists in our own country, how will we survive?

One instance is, a few years ago a Muslim women wanted to get her drivers license but her religion says she has to wear that cloth over her face... Our laws, "In Maryland at least" say you have to be facing forwards or what ever and to NOT have your face covered, NO EXCEPTIONS... Oh but this women who LIVES in our country who should have to follow our laws as we have to; got to get her license with that cloth on her face... Now there's nothing wrong here but 2 things... 1. she got to get her face covered for her license which means anyone who even comes close to her look-a-likes and no use this card as their own because graphically you can't tell who's who... 2. we can't get ours that way so why should she be different

If they are plotting to kill Americans, then they are not "Americans." Drop 'em where they stand.
If their planning on killing congress first then maybe we should wait and see, ponder awhile....you know...give them time to collect their thoughts.....

I already have "special permission." I have served my country. I have the right to bear arms. And i have ammunution. That's all the permission i need. Doing harm to other americans because they're americans? As i read earlier. Drop 'em where they stand. Or sit. I'd even say i'd protect our president.
