Maryland Senate Moves to Ban the Guns

Well folks, Maryland legislators are at it again. Not satisfied with our current "assault pistol ban", Senator Mike Lennett (D(of course)) District 19 Montgomery County has introduced the Maryland Assault Weapon Ban of 2010. I haven't had a chance to read the bill word for word, but the summary that's contained on the link I've posted below describes a bill that's poised to ban everything near and dear to my heart in the firearm realm. Gun bans are an assault on freedom. Even if you think military firearms are scary and uneccesary, understand that ANY encroachment of 2nd Amendment rights is an attack on ALL 2nd Amendment rights. The people that introduce these bills hate guns and want them all taken away. Click the link below to see what you can do to stop this bill from becoming law.

From www.ammoland.com :

SB516 Facts:

1.Expands the definition of the assault pistol ban to encompass all firearms designated as assault weapons.
2.Anything determined to be a copycat of the named firearms would be included. Given the Maryland State Police’s very liberal interpretation of what constitutes a copycat, we see this list encompassing any firearm that meets the required criteria of looking scary.
3.Includes semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines that also have threaded barrels.
4.Includes semi-automatic shotguns with folding or telescoping stocks that also have a pistol grip or thumbhole stock
5.Bans forward pistol grips.
6.You must REGISTER your firearms before December 10, 2010 so that you have the luxury of being able to keep the firearms you already own.
7.Naturally, this bill does not apply to governmental agencies, but they do give you the option of rendering your firearm permanently inoperable.

Everyone who values their Second Amendment Rights should act by calling your legislators. Annapolis should expect a pushback from the Eastern Shore.

A good friend and fellow Patriot called me this morning and told me about this Bill. We need to watch it like a hawk. Hopefully it dies on the vine.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The 2nd amendment says it all. Its the only law I need to obay , inorder to own a firearm. I don't read anywhere in the 2nd amendment where the goverment, federal, state and/ or local can change that.

If we look back into history, you will find that every great dictatorship started with the confiscation of arms from the people. It seems odd that right after the confiscation of arms the genocide and massacres of the people started.

Where would that leave us if they take our arms???

I know where that would leave me.....dead!!, by defense of my rights.

Long live freedom, long live the Republic,

Will

The 2nd amendement right to bear arms related to a fledling nation who was worried about the fact that the musket bearing british would come into their house and start pushing them around. It was then set in place that you could not disarm a population for the purpose of supression. If you are actually a patriot you would not worry about your government so much, let's face it they are fairly elected. When you sign up for democracy you have to go along with the majority. It's inherent in the system, unless you're a filthy commie. If you also have such lack of confidence in your military that you believe that your ownership and probably minimal mastery of the assault weapons you have accumulated will actually be a match for even the most incompetent national guard unit you are delusional. What a ban like this is trying to accomplish is making it more difficult for drug dealing, human trafficking, cop killers to obtain armor piercing weapons. Unless of course, you're all about killing cops.

Michael the crazy progessive, I starting shooting at age 7 and I build my own weapons from parts. All my friends own guns and we shoot together on a regular basis. A lifetime of handling firearms results in a true understanding of safety and responsibility of ownership. Your comment about minimal mastery of firearms is a laughable joke. You are the definition of an idiot right now. Enjoy your FEMA camp, comrade.

Michael it is people like you who are a danger to our freedom and our nation. Your illusion of some government that gives it's people what they need is sickening. The 2nd amendment was rightfully included in the Bill of Rights to assure that the people had the means to once again throw off the yoke of tyranny when necessary.

I will not be registering my firearms and I will not be turning them in. Do what you think you have to. Remember one thing though. There are many like Will, AR-15 and me. We are a nation under seige and real Americans will not continue to stand by much longer while our constitution is dismantled by socialists bent on our destruction.

There is a movement growing across the nation to solicit patriots to fly an upside down flag, or bear one on your vehicle. The upside down flag is long known to signify a nation in distress. This will let other patriots know that you also believe our nation is in dire distress. Get to know these patriots. Make new friends. Let them know they can count on you should the day come that the government tries to take their weapons and the 2nd amendment right away.

I'm with you Will.

Long Live Freedom. Long Live the Republic. And LONG LIVE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

Fly that flag upside down!

Micheal, It is people like you which let the governments decide what you can or cannot do! Obviously you are an total idiot, I have been shooting firearms all of my life, and honestly a ban like this is to disarm the people. Go and look at the crime rates in Australia, North Korea, Great Britain, And other countries that have gun bans. Look at Hitler, Stalin, and other great dictators who have killed many many people by taking away their guns! Now, if this law comes into effect- they won't find my guns- simple as that!

9:29~Thank you for your rational and correct interpretation of the 2nd amendment. The "Pry it from my cold, dead fingers" mentality I have read in this blog is ignorant by comparison.

Well 10:32 by Michaels way of thinking ..."If you are actually a patriot you would not worry about your government so much, let's face it they are fairly elected. When you sign up for democracy you have to go along with the majority. It's inherent in the system, unless you're a filthy commie." if the majority wanted to re-implement slavery it would be OK and anyone who opposes what the majority wants is a filthy commie.

Wrong! Thats why we have the Bill of Rights. These rights are inalienable.

Michael by your own statement you are correct in saying that the goverment should control such things and they have by the supreme courts ruling last year that taking away leagal guns is against the constitution.Maybe you should read some of the accounts of people with Legal guns have defended themselves and love ones agaist criminals with illeagal guns. Also you said that the bill is designed to keep such weapons out of the hands of drugdealers ,human trafficers, and cop killers, that descriptivebim it's self shows that they have no regard for the law so what makes you think that would change?

Anonymous said...

michael, mao said it best, when you control the guns and the food there is nothing anyone can do to stop you. the government wants to control every aspect of our lives. and the only way they can do it is to disarm all of us! good luck with that!

7:51,

When you make up quotes and attribute them to people you look like an ass. Didn't really believe any one would call you out on it though did you.

Ranger3325,

Maybe you should read some accounts about people shooting themselves, others, or god forbid letting their kids get hold of their guns.

Dogg,

You would be down before you had any idea what hit you.

The real question is why those that don't like guns want to take them away from those that do.
Oh, and by the way, they want to take them away at the point of a gun.

You liberal nut cases, you really think the National Guard is going to fire on normal citizens?

All the more reason we need to keep our guns!

Ranger3325 said...

Anon 7:51 I have heard of those accounts and I agree it's tragic but that once again of people not being properly trained or of parents not being parents ,if handled properly with the right training guns are just as safe as anything else on your household, to totaly throw away our rights because of some morons is absurd.A better idea would to require proper training for the would be gun owners just like we do for other dangerous tools such as an automobile, while not a perfect solution it is still better than stripping our rights because once it starts it will not stop

Why ban these kind of weapons? How many crimes are comitted with AR-15? Why dont they ban drug dealers JUST standing on the corner of Baker and Anne st? You know what they are doing. Cops dont do anything. Cops would jump on when they see masked people walking in a bank right?

ranger, actually Mao said political power comes fromt he barrel of a gun, It was Hermann Goering who asked. Would you rather have butter or guns?
I don''t think either would be a good one to follow. But don't worry your simple little mind. You can give up your gun to protect your family from each other! We wouldn't want you shooting yourself in the foot like you do verbally! or worse be so stupid as to let you child get ahold of it! then you can go beg the government for your butter! Me and my family will keep our God given rights as americans!
your lame attempt at justifying the rolling over and giving away your rights exposes your liberal leanings which would make Obama, Michael moore proud! Keep watching msnbc and drinking your koolaid!
I'll be cleaning my gun, watching and waiting!
One last thing, with the handle ranger I would have thought it meant army ranger, but if that were the case you wouldn't be spouting the drivel you do. So it must be because you drive a ford ranger!
semper fi!

I instructed my Family on the safety and proper use of a firearm. I feel it is needed because of the amount of criminal activity that is allowed by our Government Officials. Besides that the very ones screaming about taking my firearms are the very ones wanting me to feed the homeless and under priviledge during hunting season. Also the big truck comment, who is called to help without pay to get emergency workers to work such as Doctors, Nurses and others that work in Hospitals and the like. When we say no you critize us as quick as you want our weapons and 4x4's. So you can't have it both ways and don't come running to me when you want my help feeding the needy or my help getting the Medical staff to work because you are injured and desperately need them.

Michael the crazy PROGRESSIVE,

What's your address so that I can buy the house next to you and post this sign in my front yard:

Gun Control

Anon 12:07 AM,

I have two AR-15s too, they are actually really fun firearms to shoot and build-perhaps one of the most versitile civilian weapons on the planet. We actually have an AR-15 manufacturer right here on the shore in Cambridge called Ultimate AR-I suppose that you want to shut down that local business too? And yes, I do have a big truck and everything else about me is porportionate!

Anon 9:02 AM,
I agree with you, if you are stupid enough to shoot yourself or let your kids have full access to your firearms then you certainly shouldn't own one. However, I am very safe, my 14-year-old son can shoot (under my supervision) 15 rounds from a 9mm Beretta 92 in 6" groupings at 50 feet and take out a buck at 150 yards with a 20 gauge slug! I think we can handle our firearms!

And trust me, if somebody(s) came up against me I might go down, but I'm taking some with me before I do!

I currently have 11 firearms which include 2 AR-15s, a Glock 23 .40 cal subcompact, a Beretta 9mm 92,
a Beretta .40 cal PX4, a Ruger MKII .22 Competition target pistol, a Taurus .45 ACP PT-945,
a S&W .357 Magnum Model 66, a Remington 223 rifle, a Remington 700 .30-06 rifle, and a Beretta 20 gauge with a slug barrel and shot barrel-all of my firearms are locked in a gun safe when not in use and my 45 ACP sits loaded in a fingerprint gun safe that only my wife and I can open-I dare somebody to break into my home!

I also have a handgun carrying permit and at any given time you will find me with my Glock 23 subcompact on my person-trust me, I am the company you want to keep! People often ask me if "doesn't it scare you to have your gun with you all the time?" The truth is that I feel way more secure with it and vulnerable without it. I'd walk down the worst street in Salisbury at time of day and not fear a thing because of it!

I protect my home with my firearms and I will not let some liberal democrats disarm me and leave my family at risk. Everybody has a right to own and use firearms, some people choose to express that right and other choose not to. I choose to arm myself and just because others don't doesn't mean that they should make it so I can't.

Now don't get me wrong. Gun control is a problem in America. I have to go through MSP and FBI background checks to purchase regulated firearms, but I don't mind that at all because I have nothing to hide and my intentions are not criminal. I wouldn't even mind registering my firearms like the government is suggesting; however, I do not want to be taxed nor told that I can no longer own a firearm! I agree that there are people out there (criminals) that should be prohibited from owning firearms and immediately disarmed, but I am certainly not one of them! If the government disarms the law abiding citizens of this nation, it will leave firearms in the hands of two people; the government (police, military, etc) and criminals. Thus leaving the law abiding citizens unprotected and vulnerable. In the government's gun control efforts, they are essentially promoting crime in lieu of preventing it. What make you think that criminals are going to turn in or register their firearms? Most of them own their guns illegally through theft and straw purchases anyway-why would they willing give themselves up? Criminals will be criminals with or without some of this ridiculous gun control!

You (Michael) have no right to call me unpatriotic! Patriots believe in the things that this Country was founded upon; mainly the Constitution and its Bill of Rights. If anything, our own government has lost its patriotism completely-they are the ones trying to go against the very document this Country was founded on!

Hey jarhead I know reading must come hard to you but I was defending gun rights and I never quoted anybody you have me mixed up with another contributer I am a gun owner and have taught firearm safety and will do so to my son as he gets older.By the way ranger is not a "handle" it's a honor I where very proudly.Try phonics for marines it's in the crayola section.ALL THE WAY!
