Eurshall Miller’s Collision Center Welcomes Delmarva Residents to Join the Fun

DELMAR, MD – Today, Eurshall Miller’s Collision Center announced the introduction of the first annual Children’s Safety Day on August 15 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at 9154 Ocean Highway in Delmar, MD 21875. Fernando Guerrero, the undefeated boxer and humanitarian to the community from Salisbury, Maryland joins Eurshall Miller’s Collision Center to teach children safety in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Fernando will be available for autographs, photos and media interviews.

The Wicomico County Sheriff Department will be on hand with a K-9 demonstration. The K-9 demonstration is designed to illustrate the skills and technique used by the K-9 teams on a daily basis. The unit will give both children and adults the opportunity to gain knowledge and ask questions about the K-9 Unit and their wealth of safety knowledge. This demonstration will encourage children to build trust with officers and to learn anti-drug awareness.

The Delmar Fire Department will be onsite to discuss fire safety. Plus children will have the opportunity to tour their fire truck, which will be on location during the event.

Child car seat safety will also be included in the event’s schedule. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 80% of child restraints are used incorrectly. According to National Safe Kids Campaign, nearly a third of children ride in the wrong restraints for their age and size. Recent data from the Crash Injury Research & Engineering Network indicate that inappropriately restrained children are nearly three and a half times more likely to be seriously injured than their appropriately restrained counterparts. Car seats reduce the risk of death by 71% for infants and by 54% for children ages 1-4, and reduce the need for hospitalization by 69% for children ages 4 and under.
