Ireton’s lackeys – Mitchell and Shields – showed their true colors. Mitchell’s argument that it is contrary to "separation of powers" is nonsense, and Shields, as usual, was totally absurd in her drivel.
The most revealing aspect of the episode is Mitchell’s absolute servitude to Ireton. Shields, of course, opposes almost everything that Cohen and Campbell support.
A final thought – Ms. Cohen’s moderation of the matter was, in a word: Brillant!

I would hope before a vote our council has proper information on legalities before making a decsion. Thanks for due diligence.
Good ohboy system has fallen apart. They are the Reality Show of Monday Nights 2 times a month.
Yea, now we have the good ole girls!
Mrs. Cohen was just honest and well informed as usual. I found the personal comments from Mrs. Mitchell very distasteful, particularly the one about the meeting time that turned out she wanted that time! She sounded like she got a script from the mayor in some back room meeting. So much for civility.
I beg to differ with you about Shields . Shields would vote with Cohen and Campbell every time if they offered her a box of chocolates.
Why in the heck do I always have to work when the good stuff is going down in the city? I'm sorry I missed a progressive's explanation of separation of powers. I imagine it was quite a hoot! H Hmm, on second thought, could the author of this post go over Laura's comments?
What was the nature of her argument?
Any talk of cutting our taxes?
12:44, Mitchell's definition of "separation of powers" was that the mayor should be able to run everything, including the council. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box, but even I know the legislative branch is supposed to write the laws, the executive enforces them and the judicial interprets them.
