I grabbed my camera and headed outside. However, I couldn't see anything. Then people started pointing towards a car sitting at the red light. I started snapping pictures and someone said there was a flat tire on the other side of the car. So I crossed the street and was able to snap a shot of the car, noticing the front right tire was indeed flat.
As soon as the light turned green the driver took off and just kept driving down the road on the flat tire. When I walked beck to the Plaza people were standing next to the brick wall that the driver hit. You can see where them struck the wall, then they backed up and pulled away.
Now, here's the deal. The vehicle is owned by Salisbury Driving Academy. It had a student driver and an instructor of 30 years as a passenger. That being said, if YOU had a student strike an object, would YOU instruct them to drive away, (hit and run)? Would you then, (knowing the tire is now flat) allow them to drive that very same vehicle all the way from the end of the Downtown Plaza all the way back to their Office at Parsons Road on a flat tire??? Well, that's what they did.
Then of course there's the technicality of, who's at fault, the driver or the instructor?
The Salisbury Police instructed them to return to the scene and it took them quite a while to do so. In fact, they returned in another vehicle and get this, they did so with the student driver driving, NOT the instructor.
The instructor seemed quite upset and said, who called the Police. The Officer replied telling him several people witnessed it and he replied, who. They simply stated, look, they even have pictures of it. The instructor said, there's no pictures of us. OK big guy, well, here they are!
So, would YOU consider this a hit and run? Would YOU hire this instructor to educate YOUR child? I'd say its time to retire and hang it up because in my eyes he instructed the driver to do EVERYTHING wrong.

It is a hit and run. terrible teacher. It's time for him to retire. If the MVA is made aware of this infraction, his teaching certification will be yanked.
My guess would be there was no damage done to property that they could see...only to the car, maybe that's why they kept going. Either way the instuctor should have known better to drive on a flat tire....A plus driving school is where I'll send my children!
I have to agree that they probably didn't notice any damage to the bricks [ very little that I see ]and the flat tire thing - that was kind of dum to drive on that. Maybe the instructor just did not want to change that tire thinking if they got it back to the lot someone else would change it. Who Knows ! Only the instructor. Did you ask him ?
A Plus is the best driving school! Why risk your kid's life going somewhere else? They know how to teach.
When I was young, driver's ed was taught in high school by reliable teachers. Is a shame that budget cuts have taken this away. This is what you get!
When a student driver is behind the wheel, the instructor is the one who is responsible. Same goes for a teen operating on a permit. The adult with the real license assumes the responsibility/liability.
The kid simply doesn't know any better at this point in their driving career. That's why you must have a licensed driver or instructor present at all times!
Just ask any insurance company. They won't raise your rates when your teen has a Learner's permit.
But when they get the actual license, look out! That's when they hit you with the higher insurance premiums!

Yes sir, I agree. Now, if the kids can drive around the block without hitting anything they get their license.

The "instructor" should be fired and prosecuted for leaving the scene of an accident!
Doesn't appear that the person stuck any of those phony CWA job protestors. Why stop to take credit when there was no credit due?

Don't know why this is such an issue. No real damage except to the tire. No other motorist's involved. Much ado about nothing.
They probably didn't even know they had a flat tire. Student driving got no experience. Some tires are made so you can drive on them when flat.
Is that the same area skate boarders and homeless were messing things up. Now it's someone else.
No damage no foul. You can't blame a student driver for moving a couple fo bricks slightly that are no longer held together by the mortar. As to the driving on, a student driver may not have immediately noticed a flat tire going the slow speed through the plaza. Also there isn't really room to stop and change a flat without blocking the flow of traffic so it would make sense to drive on to a place that you can safely get out, assess the damage and not totally embarass a young impressionable person with gawkers and camera happy people over something that isn't an issue.
This school is owned and run by a bunch of radical muslim Pakistanis who take frequent trips to the lawless regions on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. I certainly would not trust my child with them...in a car, or anywhere else.
To anyone who thinks I am not 100% serious about this. ..get a clue
Send them to the White house to see if they might bump into someone playing golf!!
At the very least the instructor should have gotten out to see if there was any property damage. His actions appear as though he knew there was so decided to get the heck outta there.

It's becoming even more obvious that all of us drivers who learned to drive the right way are in big trouble with people like this on the roads!
This instructor should be fired and the driving school should be fined, at a minimum!
Trashy area or not, I think it was very poor judgement on the part of the instructor to take a student on the plaza in the first place. Very narrow driveway with the potential for several pedestrians. Just not a good idea at all.

Can you comprehend? The student has little experience so he may not know there is a flat tire on front or back. Some tires can safely be driven while flat as they are designed this way. Unless you are still using bias tires you can't always tell. Which part didn't you understand?

This isn't about the student. When the instructor asked about witnesses and were there any pictures, that's not the same as a denial. It's asking how they know and what can they prove. What a poor example for a teacher to set.
